Share your tributes and remembrances of Maj. Libardo Eduardo Caraveo. One of the Fort Hood victims, Caraveo, 52, of Woodbridge, Va., arrived in the United States in his teens from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, knowing very little English. He had arrived at Fort Hood two days earlier and was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

Eduardo was a good friend with my Dad and i had the privalege to get to know him. Eduardo was probably one of the funniest people i knew! He left a lasting impression on my life. He was a good man and will be missed. My thought and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP Sir.
It seems so short of sufficient to simply say, thank you. But the work you did, with the greatest of intentions is sure to have had a great impact on someone's life and on our country. Our hearts go out to your family as this terrible time in their lives. I hope amongst the sadness they remember the good times and can move forward. Rest in peace.
While we did not know Maj. Libardo Eduardo Caraveo it is quite apparent (in his short bio) that he was a man with determination and purpose! We hope his loved ones can find some light while sharing their memories of him with others. We extend our sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.
We, Americans, are so proud of our Men and Women in uniform and the civilians who work beside them. While the loved ones of those who were murdered (as well as those injured and their families) have a very difficult road ahead of them, we hope they can find some comfort in knowing that the citizens of the United States of America mourns with them and will keep them all in our thoughts and/or prayers.

I don't know Major Caraveo, but I had the blessing to know my friend Eduardo. Since 1988 I know him, but our friendship grew more during the last 6 years. Our wives even became closer than Eduardo and I. Eduardo was not just a funny person, he was caring one. His profession as psychologist don't make justice to an individual who choose to help those neglect the most. He was a psychologists in the Federal Bureau of Prisons helping inmates and all those around him. His passion to help in the military was one of the many fields that he worked planting the seed of hope and love. I know I am going to see Eduardo again, as both of us will one day see face to face our Saviour and Lord. But while that day arrive... and will miss my friend.
MAJ Caraveo was in my squad while we attended the Captain Career Course this summer in San Antonio. I was apparent that he loved to serve Soldiers. While inspecting a friend of mine's platoon he noticed her combat patch and said "not afraid to defend freedom I see" - and he wasn't either as he was processing to go to Afghanistan when this tragedy happened. My prayers go out to his family and all the victims families. And I wish I could do something more for you.
I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to post a comment. My name is Rudy Valenzuela. Eduardo was and will always be my best friend. I do not believe anyone will ever come along who could ever compare to this man. Eduardo was indeed a funny man. He was not only an acheiver, he was an overacheiver. He had to overcome so much to educate himself. He loved the United States, he loved Mexico but more han anything he loved life and eveyone regardless of where they were from. It was that same love that allowed him help all those who needed his help. His life experiences helped him become a great physcologist but more importantly a great American and friend to all those who knew him. He was a treasure and I am honored to have had a chance to be invited to share in his life. I will always love this man.
The Doc was a good person. He always maintained a great sense of humur and a contagious laugh, even in an envoirnment which was not meant to be fun. Our deepest condolences to his family. He will be missed.
I did not know Mr. Caraveo but I am from El Paso,Tx and I would like to send my condolences to his family and friends.
Thank You Sir for all you did for us.
MAJ Caraveo was assigned to the 1207th USAH a few years ago. I talked to him earlier this year in Apr assisting him in correcting one of his OERs. His record was going up for the Promotion board and that one OER was rejected. He was very humble, grateful and pleasant to work with. On Behalf of the 1207th Ft Benning GA we convey our deepest sympathy to his Family and Friends!
I will always remember his twinkling eyes, mischievious smile and abundance of energy. May your family find comfort in knowing that his memory will remain alive by those who knew him as we share our memories of him. I am grateful to have known him as a coleague and as a friends during our time in Tucson. I will miss him. Con mucho sentimiento de todo corazón.
My thoughts are with Maj. Caraveo"s family and friends at this difficult time. I have known Mr.Caraveo's son (Jose)for a few years now and our office received a call from Jose this am. He wanted to remind us everyday to tell our loved ones how much " we love them." This young man is so upset for not being able to say good-bye to his Dad or tell him how much he loved him. Jose is a young man, going to college and Im sure no matter what field Jose ends up in I'm sure he will make his Dad proud like his Father has made Jose proud.
Thank you Major. You made the world safer for my wife, children and grandchildren. Your passing is not in vain. We will never forget you.
I enjoyed getting to know MAJ Caraveo during our premob training in Aug. We chose the same mission and were part of mental health prevention team. What a wonderful and welcome sense of humor he shared, which put us all at ease. I hope remembering this will inspire us all to laugh and enjoy the funny moments in life. He also had a genuine concern for others well being and would take time out to ask others how they were doing. I have no doubt his caring and compassionate nature made him an awesome provider and asset in the field of mental health. He is an outstanding role model for us all in the helping field and I have no doubt an awesome family man. "I will truly miss you sir. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers". ~SPC Payne, mental health specialist
