Believe in the bible or not, you cannot deny that animals serve humans. Why are wolves undomesticated and dogs domesticated? Dogs are social to humans, wolves are social only to wolves. Dogs serve humans. Wolves serve humans as well, but they serve them by maintaining the ecosystem.

They do not have the empathy for other animals. In fact if you hold animals to the same standard you like to attribute to humans, your precious animals are killers and murderers. That is how most eat and survive. If it is good enough for the animal world to kill for food why not humans? You people act like human beings are an alien species to this planet. I hate to tell you but human beings are a part of the natural species on this planet. We have as much of a right to survive as any other animal on this planet. Oh, and there is no philosophical difference in a random person being killed or a random cowing being killed? There is a huge difference! Besides the moral issues involved there is the fact that humans generally do not kill other humans for food! It has happened but usually by serial killers and psychopaths. Animals are not self aware, do not posses the ability to reason and are devoid of independent logic. Ergo, they are a someone. they are animals guided by instinct. Cattle, sheep, Swine and various foul were domesticated for the express purpose of food. To supply the masses with a ready source of protein without hunting other animals to extinction. It is a biological fact, the human body requires a certain percentage of animal protein and fats, (fatty acids) to function properly. Blame evolution for this. This is why vegetarians require protein supplements. No one should take for granted meat produces, to do so is wasteful. People have decided whether other people have the right to live or die based on their political views for centuries. Point in case, the Nazis and World War II, the Taliban, and countries with dictators and lacking democracies. As to what political party they favor, well many people in Egypt last year died for their cause trying to bring on a new government to power. Whether that new government is better than the old one is still a fact to be determined but that's not the main point. Even the Jews died for their faith. As to what clothes they wear, even some women in the Middle East who refused to wear the head coverings were killed. I'm sure some transgender people have even gotten crap for what they wear too and have suffered for their rights. My point is that just because no SHOULD have the right to decide whether someone should live or die based on their clothes, politics, views, (or even I'll add religion), doesn't mean that no one DOES decide whether people should live or die if people do not conform based on these things.

Many wars, just and unjust, have been fought over political views. People have even been killed in the Civil War and other similiar wars because of the color of their skin. Now I do agree with your statement that people have a right to wear fur, but I find your next sentence overarching in its claims. I think that we take for granted in our own country that we have free speech and a free right to voice our opinion, express ourselves, wear whatever we want, vote whatever way we want, choose to believe whatever we want as long as it's within reason. However, other countries are not quite so lucky like those in the Middle East. People in power have always decided for them what to do, what to wear, who to vote for, what to believe. Sometimes, they don't even get a chance to vote. And, if they don't comply, then it's treason and they risk their lives. When they decided to live under their government, they have to agree to abide by the laws or face the consequences. Problem is, their government allows them no freedom.

I don't necessarily agree with the war in Iraq but perhaps that's why it was fought to free those who couldn't help themselves. And, now we are fighting with Libya. What's so encroaching about terrorism though is when other people because of their religious views or personal beliefs decide it is okay to kill another person.

I see her attempt here to kill another person as an act of terrorism. She perceives that because she objects to the person wearing fur she wants to make a statement. But violence never solves anything. And, ultimately, human beings' lives are at stake. And, that animal you are wearing is already dead. How are you solving the problem? Save the living animals and forget about the dead ones!

As to living our own lives and worrying about ourselves, that's all well and good most of the time, but when another's beliefs are crazy or irrational and threaten people's lives as in this case, it becomes a concern. By any means, people should never think that it is okay to shoot another person because they are wearing fur. If she gets away free and other people think what she thinks is okay, then it could start a riot and lead to a violent killing spree of fur wearers. That, I think is what's not okay. Be free and live your own lives, but know what's going on around you. People should take the time to get informed so that they won't easily be swayed by the nice sounding ideas or appealing causes. And, acts of terrorism or violence, even if for a good cause, are never okay.

I begrudge no one the right to eat meat, after all, I will admit it is quite tasty and for many is the most economical source of some nutritional necessities. However, to claim that all people need animal protein and so therefore all vegetarians have to take protein supplements is absolutely false.

Gordon Liddy is an adamant supporter of animal welfare, opposes all animal testing, and even wrote a novel in which those who do animal experimentation are the bad guys (The Monkey Handlers).

While I agree with you that this woman is very probably mentally ill, if you knew anything about mental illness you might be a bit more compassionate. No one chooses metal illness, it just happens to them. A bit like cancer, no one chooses to have cancer, it just happens to them. Should she be held in a mental hospital? Yes, of course. Should she be tormented because of her disease? Absolutely NOT. It would be the equivalent of locking a cancer sufferer in a "bathtub" sized cell for a very long time.

1.) instead of doing drugs that destroy the mind a person can opt for healthier hobbies. Or seek help for their addiction.

2.) Instead of driving drunk, a person can instead choose not to drink OR ensure that the person or persons with them designate a sober driver.

3.) Instead of committing a crime, and hiding behind a mental illness, they could instead seek help for their issue.
