Maybe if you tell them that American Media outlets will gladly publish derogatory imagery concerning Christians and Christianity but it won't dare do the same to Muslims and the great Allah it will calm them down.
Or maybe someone could inform them what "alleged" means.
This is all based on a mere accusation of an incident with the Koran.
So basically anyone can just make @!$%# up and these gullible idiots will gladly serve as tools and go protest in the streets.
Our soldiers are guilty of what, living in reality? Perhaps "Innocent until proven Guilty" is another concept the local populace should educate themselves about.
These rag-tops forget that their Holy Book was defaced by their OWN people, who wrote filthy messages to each other in the margins. That's why the books were destined to be destroyed in the first place. Admittedly the garbage disposal folks made a piss-poor job of destroying the defaced books - perhaps the fumb ducker general at the air base has never heard of breaking the spine of a book and feeding smaller sections into a paper shredder.
More proof that Islam is a CULT of HATE and these people are pre-programmed to hate and kill.. If they showed this much outrage when their holy warriors commit jihad and kill scores of innocent bystanders including women and children they may show some signs of hope.. As for burning books full of messages of hate and cult indoctrination I do not have a problem with that.. These people have become so sick that they use their own children as suicide bombers.. So much for the peace and love of Islam.. We know they want to get rid of all those who do not want to follow their CULT.. They even violate their own cult's laws and have the nerve to say they are doing it for Allah or Mohamed.. What a sick CULT!! Wish we could all find a substitute for their oil and stop the flow of wealth to these sick animals..
Talk about a Fahrenheit 451. Burning books? No free speech for Afghans. We know better.
We didn't burn them because it they were Qur'an we burned them because anti American insurgents wrote hate anti American hate speech and possibly other messages in them. if you do not know the difference a feel sorry for you but just think of it this way would prisoners in say Utah be allowed to write about plans to kill all the guards than escape in their books at the prison library? didn't think so.
Expression of hate is free speech and a right especially when someone is occupying your country and keeping up constant war. We had enough hate pumped into us in this country. No one has burn our books, media or Constitution (that we are burning ourselves). We have no right to condemn others hate especially since we are occupying their country. Enough stiffling of non-western views.
The books were being used as a means to communicate back and forth with more hardliners and captured insurgents. Under Islamic Law, it is considered a "sin" to write in the Koran. Burning the Koran after it has been defaced by writing in it is approved. The problem is like the media here in the states, only 1/4 the story is given which all you read is, "US troops burn Holy-Koran in a open fire-pit: Muslims outraged"....... more to follow...etc.
Captured insurgents have been using this method of mass communication to other prisoners for some time. It is a on-going problem. While it is authorized to destroy a Koran by use of a fire they should have used a paper shredder.
Do reporters even research their stories or just make things up and hope for the best?
The people being liberated do not want the liberators. Imagine that. Time to leave.
Bingo. Peter, that's the message that seems to be getting lost in the shuffle here. Folks, rather than blame the media, the troops, Christianity, or some other ridiculous target you concoct; blame our GOVERNMENT for stirring up this seventh century cesspool in the first place.
Time to leave. NOW. Let them turn their hate on each other. These barbarians will never live like the Cleavers or the Huxtables, and Kabul will NEVER look like Minneapolis or Beverly Hills.
This whole thing is absurd. They put some books in the trash that were defaced with anti-American rhetoric and messages of hate and were no longer needed or wanted. This as not done as any kind of religious statement or to piss anyone off. since they no longer house large numbers of Muslim prisoners at the base the Korans were no longer needed. As a result they were put in the trash to be disposed of. The laborers on the base then took the trash to be burned as they always do. This was a routine disposal of trash, not some religiously motivated incident. It is completely absurd to get so upset over something like this. It is also the height of hypocrisy for any of them to protest this when they routinely do things like burn the bodies of our soldiers and the American flag in clear attempts to inflame passions.
It is time to stop the nonsense and just pull our troops out. Let these backwards fanatics have their wars with each other and kill each other off. There is no reason to risk any more American lives trying to save them from themselves. Just make it clear that any attacks on American interests coming from the country will result in our carpet bombing the whole place. Maybe if we make it clear that they will all be out at risk if they continue to tolerate the action of the fanatics, they will do something to put an end to the fanatics themselves.
It looks like we have found a new war strategy. Burn a Koran a day and let them kill each other. It would be the cheapest war we would ever fight. We don't even actually have to do it, just say we did.
I think the only way you are ever going to stop this madness with the Koran is to actually burn or crap on 1 a day until it is no longer news when it happens. When it finally becomes routine there will no longer be this phony outrage over it.
Has anyone noticed that the extremist Muslims are just as fanatical as extremist Christians?
The Muslims have Mullahs and we have right wing politicians.
The fanatical Muslims want to base all the laws on the Koran, because that is how they interpret the Teachings of Mohamed.
The right wing Christians want our laws based on the Bible, because that is how they interpret the authors of the Constitution.
Unlike the Koran, we have a written history and the writings from those men as they debated the contents of the Constitution.
The Muslims never question the dichotomy of the Koran and accept the fanatical interpretation as fact.
The majority of Christians never read history and accept the right wing fanatical interpretations of the Constitution through either the Old Testament or the New Testament (even when they contradict) as fact.
Give me DEMOCRACY not theocracy.....that is the essence of the First Amendment.
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. " - Barack Obama Campaign Promise - October 27, 2007
Burn a Quran, see who turns up to protest, kill them. This seems like a logical way to sort the good from the bad and deal with those that will try to kill us in the future. If they can get this fired up by burning an already defaced copy of the Quran, or any other book, then they are already radicalized beyond any hope. They are a threat to any hope of peace. The threat should be dealt with.
noiwontyesiwill, really Extreme Christians are the same as extreme Muslims, I've yet to see Extreme Christians riot and have any members killed. I've yet to see this country ran by a Christian Theology. Stick to your hate filled world, all these candidates were in power of some sort and managed to leave their religion behind.
This is what happens when you have poor, uneducated masses of people, who have no work, no government support, being led by ultar-conservative religious zealots.
I love love love your philosophy. Burn the Quran to weed out the radicalized soon to be if not already terrorists. Go out in their town square and just start a fire. I love it!!!!!!!!!
I am an independant voter and have always voted for the person, not the party... I have listened to the GOP candidates, have watched and listened to President Obama and have come to the conclusion that despite some radical ideas, (some of which are only radical because we have gone so far down the wrong road that they have to be to get us back to center), Ron Paul is the only one that speaks honestly and is more consistant than anyone.
His ideas and plans to fix our country may / will hurt, but nobody else is honest with us, they all try telling us what they think we want to hear. But bringing the troops home is a no brainer. We are making long lasting enemys everywhere we poke our nose.
If they could only get this worked up about improving their lives and country they wouldn't need anyones help. I agree, get out and let them kill themselves and not us.
the Americans are the problem not the People of Afghanistan. When will we learn to mind our own business? Everything we do is wrong. We are truely the evil ones. The these comments are so full of bigotry and hubris is disgusting. Of course they don't want our help. We are not attempting to help them, we are killing them for their beliefs.
You think Hamid Karzi would go out on public TV, radio, and mosque speakers and tell the whole story? You think he would tell the rioting public that the insurgents had defaced these Korans and the Soldiers had permission from the local mullahs to destroy them.
Nope. Karzi is a joke and the fact that he is not attempting to place an apology for the deaths of two US Soldiers is another example of why Karzi is worthless as an Afghan leader. Maybe he should apologize for the billions he and his immediate family have placed in various accounts waiting for the last US troops to leave and he will be living off the interests of stolen cash. Not to mention the millions his immediate side-kicks earn from narcotics kickbacks and sales. But at least our President said we are sorry about this whole incident and the killings have stopped....... (pause).... well the idea looked great on paper.
Yep and your current leader Obama and the Congress and the Senate and the corporate lobby and all the rest of capitol hill.. Handing them cash does no good as well so tell your master to stop that also..
He is pulling us out of that fiasco. I am all for changing the way washington does business. One man, one direct vote on line item legislation. No more negotiated packages full of ear marks and pork barrels. We have changed how we bank through Internet. We go to college through the Internet. Lets do government through the Internet and do away with corruption.
Neither Bush nor Obama nor Carter Reagan Clinton etc...are to blame for 911 or the current was. They are not to blame for the blight in Afghanistan, nor the duplicity of Afghanistan, or the Islamic Republican seeking nuclear weapons.
It is the perpetrators who are to blame, and the doctrine that inspires them.
Charles, The only choice we have in life is how we respond to happenings. The problem is when prior actions such as propping up dictators come home to roost. Cause and effect means we have a role in this disgrace. It helps to look and actually see the big picture instead of compartmentalizing. We are there to protect American 'interests'. What exactly are those economic interests, who benefits, and exactly what is the cost the public bears.
This is just further evidence that Muslims, some of them, anyway, do not worship ONE God, Allah, like they so prounly contend. Rather, they worship THREE Gods, as does the hated Christians; at least this is how they seem to see the Christian worship of the Trinity. However, the three gods they worship, is Allah, the Quran and Mohammad. I KNOW that is not their intent, but, in effect that is what they do. DESPITE their strong and widespread insistence that God is one and only ONE, they, nevertheless practice the very abuse they so WIDELY and LOUDLY accuse others of. The Christian Trinity is three manifestations that are, somehow One God. However, the Muslims, while strongly condemning this, turn right around and do EXACTLY the same, except that they are worshipping a mortal man and a created book. AGAIN, I do not believe that this is their intent, but they, in effect, worship a man and a made object, and place them on a level with Allah.
Apparently you have a short memory, it was O'Bama that increased the troops in the Iraq (the surge). It was O'Bama that got the U.S. involved in Libya & Egypt. O'Bama has yet to see a conflict in the Middle East that he has not gotten the U.S. involved. To O'Bama the U.S. Constitution exist only when it meets O'Bama's need to pander for votes.
Matilda, I think the trinity is a catholic doctrine. I don't think catholics consider themselves christians. That's what I gathered from conversations with some. I could also name a few things christians worship that they wouldn't call a god, but their reverence amounts to worship.
D Dirty Dog, the trinity is a Christian doctrine Father Son and Holy Ghost. I for one believe Catholics are Christians and I'm not a Catholic. Anyone who accepts Jesus as their savior is a Christian.
D Dirty dog ----- The Trinity is, indeed, a Catholic doctrine. It is, however, one of the doctrines held in common with Protestants. I am no expert in this field. I don't know whether or not all Protestant sects accept the Trinity, but my impression is that most of them do, even if a few do not. In any case, the point I was making is that the doctrine of The Trinity held by, at least some, Christians, is held in contempt by Muslims; at least some of which immediately turn around and effectively do the same thing although substituting a man and a man-made object for two of the Three Personages in the Trinity---in my opinion, a greater blasphemy than the blasphmy of which they are accusing us. I did stress, however, that this all too common blasphemy of Muslims is probably almost always unintentional. Nevertheless, I think it behooves (some) Muslims to examine their own house before so strongly critisizing ours.
Let us leave for good, and let them deal with one another like a pack of rabid dogs. I just feel bad for the children, and the elderly amongst them who have no honest protection.
I know you might feel bad for the young and the old, but what helps me sleep at night is knowing that the kids growing up will turn out exactly like their parents and the old were and still are radical p.o.s.
Let's get the hell out now and blow them to kingdom come if they start anything. I am so tired of our soldiers dying for people who do not even want their help.
The U.S. is over there because the generals at the pentagon like to fight. We went to get Bin Ladin. We got him. We are done there. We stay because every time someone brings up drawing troops down (like the President), the generals whine, the GOP foams, and Kharzi pee's his pants.
We can't win in Afghanistan. Both sides are just as corrupt. Patreus gave the country over to the warlords and their opium trade, and now the situation is so bad that frontline troops are sending reports back that the pentagon won't even let the public see. You can read an unclassified version of one, 84 pages of it, in fact, linked in Rolling Stone.
2014 is a foolish date. We should be on a Vietnam-congress-defunded-us schedule, and get out in half a year. Iraq is a civil war, and Afghanistan is a disaster.
Just to be clear, our troops had nothing to do with this: this is all on the heads of the civilian leadership that put us there, and the generals that kept us there.
Read the Operators. It gives a little perspective, if only a slice of it, on the mess over there.
They NEVER wanted the help of the United States. The United States wanted to get an oil pipeline put through their northern western part of the country. Again all this was for the greed of the American people. When will the United States ever learn that they are NOT wanted anywhere on this planet other than the continental United States. Even the people of Hawaii and Puerto Rico canèt stand you. United Occupiers of America, that should be what this country should be known as.
These people aren't worth the time and effort it takes to consider helping them. Nobody can help people who actually like living in primitive circumstances and murdering each other when they have the tiniest of disagreements. They simply do not want to change which makes them hopeless.
Letsplayfair, 9/11 sent us there, and since we left early the first time, we decided to stay and help build up their country. Now it seems we've stayed to long. Funny thing for a country that you said everyone can't stand we sure have a long line of those people trying to become citizens.
It's not fair to judge those (majority) with the education of a third grader. That's why these leader go abroad to be educated so they can come back and tell these people anything and they'll follow them. Alleged....they haven't got a clue what that means, all they know and understand is what's being spread by their media and leaders. Pull out and let them have their dirt pile did we learn nothing from the Russians?? And we're supposed to be on their side.....think about it!
I just can't believe the stupidity of the folks who burned the books and then let them be found by the natives. Somebody ought to be shot. This action by an idiot will cost the United States lives and treasure as we attempt to damage control this act. This is worse than peeing on dead folks and posting the video on youtube.
We need to get out as soon as we can because we are not smart enough to fight this war.
I agree, but you also need to ask the question about the corpses, why were they corpses? Clearly they were attacking, (in civilian clothes), to kill Americans before the desecration. Then there is the messages of hate scribbled in the margins of the Korans that were burned. Does anybody blame the madrassas for teaching this tripe?
Perhaps the people of Afghanistan will be better off when they abandon their obsession with religion and embark on an adventure in real education. Burning their korans, and their opium fields may be doing them a favor. Perhaps they can learn better agriculture, family planning, infrastructure building, energy planning, demographics, resource management, the sciences, etcetera...Instead they read and re-read their 7th century book of magic and bigotry.
Perhaps its time to set aside their superstitions and the source of their problems.
I agree, livinginthewoods....(and well said, Charles the Hammerhead)
The parallel's between Hammerhead's comment and what is going on in this country is creeping me out......How long before the GOP has us women wearing bhurkas?
if i had known that there was a party i would have crawled ten miles but naked over burning sand and broken glass on my belly just to get a gallon of gas
As was stated above, it is a very serious thing to write in the koran, so the inmates were desecrating their own holy book. If they don't care, why should we?
We ARE smart enough to fight the war...it's just that the state dept. and the politicians won't LET us. It's Vietnam all over- if you can't kill the enemy, you will lose, every time.
The state dept is the biggest threat to national security there is- unfortunantly, the people that usually die because of those idiots are our kids in the service. I'd like to see the state dept. HQ moved RIGHT to the front - keep them there until the war is done. You'd see a LOT more effort put into defeating the enemy, rather than this not even half-a$$ed effort we usually do.
All of this is the result of the liberal PC BS of trying to have everybody like us, all the time. Gets our people killed, for no reason.
9.7 We ARE smart enough to fight the war...it's just that the state dept. and the politicians won't LET us. It's Vietnam all over- if you can't kill the enemy, you will lose, every time.
At the beginning of this mess some said this would turn into another Vietnam. I hoped that wasn't true. That maybe we had learned that there is no such thing as a politically correct war. That we would, if forced to fight a war, fight it to win. Its tragic that the people that worried about this becoming another Vietnam are the same politicians and weak knee'd civilians that don't have the stomach to do what is necessary to win. That is, you engage the enemy and kill them. You don't worry about winning their hearts and minds. You crush them. They're the enemy. These protesters are the enemy. They've identified themselves. What the hell are we doing there if we can't fight to win!
People who do not know their facts, and publish unresearched opinions as fact look foolish. The west is not the biggest consumer of opiates as you claim. You need to read the UN report on opiate consumption. The middle east is the biggest consumer (Opium+heroin). The US and Canada are way down on the list. On average, per capita, the (Opium+Heroin) consumption in North America is about 1/3 that of the middle east.
Sarah, it appears that you are one of the people that believe that if we just ignore the boogie man he will leave us alone. The thing is that the boogie man set up training camps in Afghanistan to train holy warriors to bring the fight to us here in America. With the support of the Taliban who had total control of Afghanistan and in the name of the prophet and Allah, they sent men to the USA to destroy American and strike fear into the hearts and minds of the Infidel. They believed a single blow would weaken our resolve and destroy our economy. After all we are inferior infidels.
When we responded and hit the Taliban we collapsed their government, economy, army, and infrastructure in days/weeks!
We should have just packed up and left. If they regrouped we should have hit them again even harder, then packed up and left again. We should have no concern for helping them rebuild. They don't want freedom as we know it! Any attempt by them to regroup or organize another attack on America should have simply been met with an even harder response, but no attempt to assist or change them.
If, after a series of tries, they were simply to stupid to get it the US response would have grown to the size of a Darwin moment resulting in their extinction. Either way, problem solved. They either would have learned acceptable behaviour on a world scale or ceased to exist.
War is Hell! @!$%# with us and die! We're sick of being nice to people that want to kill us!
PS I used the term boogie man in hopes it would strike a chord on the level of your childlike naivety
U.S. Gen. John Allen, the top commander of American and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said after the books had been mistakenly given to troops to be burned at a garbage pit without realizing it.
"It was not a decision that was made because they were religious materials," Allen said Tuesday, one day after Afghan workers at the garbage pit found the books.
The story I read is that the books were incompletely burned by soldiers and native laborers found the partially burned books in the garbage dump. Now i don't think anyone is saying you can't burn a Quran, not even Muslims, but that if you do you should do it with respect, the same rules we have for the US flag. Tossing partially burned flags on the trash might get some US citizens riled up if the remains were found in the dump.
When you have ignorant or stupid people carrying out sensitive tasks things tend to get AFU. War is not just about killing folks, it is about winning - winning the respect of the populace so you don't have to just keep killing them for all of eternity. We lack the ability to fight such a long term war because we don't seem smart enough to see the mission for what it is and will screw it up over and over and over with mistakes, macho imaginings and ego trips.
NO Joe, war is NOT about winning the respect of the populace-it's about killing them until they give up - THEN you have won.
The VC and NVA were tough little guys , and we "respected" them as fighters, but we wanted to kill all of them. The politicians and the state dept. did't let that happen. Was more popular to kill our people than the enemy.
We didn't give a crap about the japs or the germans during WWII- that is how we won. This constant slow-motion war we have these days is almost useless, and gets WAY too many people killed on both sides. It's the liberal kumbaya types that are getting our boys killed, plain and simple. They just don't have the guts to get the job done: slow pullers.......
It's like pulling off a band-aid - you wanna do it slowly, or quickly? Do it and get it over with- less painful in the long run.
Darlin', war is about getting the mission accomplished. That was done when Obama pulled the trigger on Osama.
If you believe that the Afghans will ever give up you haven't understood history.
If you think that war these days gets too many people killed look at the casualty numbers for ww1 ww2m korea, vn and compare those with the conflict in iraq and afghanistan. This stuff would be easy if we didn't keep shooting ourselves in the foot.
When you get into liberal vs whatever you think you are then give me liberal any day cause you keep arguing the wrong side of this story and can't seem to realize it. Putting half burned Quran's out where people can find them is just plain dumb.
When will we realize we're not wanted there? We've overstayed our welcome and done what we came there for. Now we're just meddling in their affairs. GTFO.
How much more do our troops have to endure before our politicians realize that you cannot work with people that don't want your help. They are calling for death to Americans and President Hamid Karzai. I say bring our troops home and let the people of Afghanistan have President Hamid Karzai consodering that we have not herd one peep out of that corrupt fool.
If we wanted to & had the guts to do it we could go house-to-house in their garbage heap of a country, burn every single Koran we find, & shoot anyone who quotes from it. They should thank whoever it is they pray to that we AREN'T who they think we are.
these lice infected idiots should get down on their rugs and pray that i'm not president because i'm would tell the air force to lock and load 250 b-52's and bomb these idiots for 30 days 24/7.
My question is why is it okay for those in the Islamic faith to desecrate other beliefs such as flag burning and other symbols and the live executions of foreigner to their land and take great offense when when those outside their faith do offensive act to Islam? When its their hand ("if your hand offend thee cut it off") they won't cut theirs off knowing it to be wrong.
Just an observation... May God bless the world as we strive together for peace.
Blame rests with the attitude at the top- burning Korans is the sure way to the hearts and minds of every Afghani- or a mohammedan. In reverse- what would happen if the same US soldiers with an attitude problem would burn fundamentalists' Bibles in US? They wouldn't have a chance of surviving. Obama adm.starting with the C in C;DoD Panetta,State HRC are the problem in not addressing this problem since the last upset. Obama adm. is causing NATO forces to be killed by their actions- reset relations with every nation - their reset has caused more hatred and noncooperation worldwide and preventable deaths due to their cultural superiority mindset. All the brave men and women-some giving up their lives and others wounded (badly at that) their sacrifices and the good deeds are undermined by the Ugly American- starting from the top- trickle down.
It seems to me if whomever was in charge of this fiasco had taken the time to get one of the friendly local religious leaders out to,
1: confirm the Korans had been desecrated, then
2: preform whatever ceremony was appropriate to dispose of them in accordance with Islamic law.
We would have looked good in the eyes of those people for respecting their religion
I do agree with you, we are trying to win hearts and minds. I do think whomever made the decision to it this way and then to not follow up to assure it was burned completely was just dumb. To do something this stupid that sets back any progress we've made so far needs to be punished.
I could be wrong....but it was a proper ceremony...what more did they want? Chanting and candles? These books were defaced by Islamic detainees which means that burning them was the correct way to go. When it goes left, they scream they want right...when it goes right, they scream they want left....crap in one hand and scream in the other...which will fill faster?
JIM- WHY do you give a crap about what a country full of illiterate child molesters think about us? It's like worrying about what rabid raccoons think about you. They don't. They just want to kill you. Sucking up to 17th century trash is going to get you killed.
The naivete in here is incredible. It's beyond understanding....
it seems to me that if those people didnt have something to be angry about, they wouldnt have anything to say. and it seems that they are always freaking out about some perceived slight by someone they dont like anyway. we need to leave that country, make it off limits to westerners and then let them kill each other for whatever stupid sectarian reason they have.
To add to your comment of making it off limits to westerners, we first need to make sure the west is off limits to Middle easterners. The whole middle east should be off limits to any civilized country. No interaction should ever take place again. They can keep their oil. We have plenty here to get us by until we perfect renewable energy sources.
Blame rests with the attitude at the top- burning Korans is the sure way to the hearts and minds of every Afghani- or a mohammedan
Did you read the article or just the headline. there was a reason for it. you do not allow extremism to spread its message in the detention center. writing the messages in the books for other insurgents to see is a form of passive resistance. not something you want in a prison/detention center.
Military guards' duties i.e. should have been to inspect each and every book when returned by the detainee back to the library wagon that there was no extra papers /notations included. One question- how many of those detainees can read?
At the moment it seems like STUPIDITY rules. Most of the demonstrators can't read so it is the JERK Immans who are rallying the uneducated for their own cause. This is a land that is still in the stone age and they would not know improvements if they saw them. The entire leadership of this country are nothing but self-satisfying CROOKS who are the most CORRUPT Of The CORRUPT in this world. With the two faced leadership of this country and the non-support we receive, bring our troops home and let them slide back into the past and live like the animals they are. They burn bibles, but can't stand to see the Koran burnt, well freedom of speech goes both ways. They should have bombed the place into a glass factory on day one and we wouldn't be in this mess.
Seems stupidity rules on both sides. The question is who is being more stupid? Us for dropping bombs on their houses with our drones or them for rioting over a book?
Actually, while I admit I am not an expert, it is my belief, that the greater majority of Afghans can read. After all, my understanding is that for over a thousand years, education has been based largely on teaching the Quran, therefore reading it, therefore, learning to read it.
He never thought, had he thought we would not have the mess that Islamm has created. This is no better than the Holy Wars and is plain stupidity. it is just a bunch of uneducated idiots following the lead of those who are educated, who have found it easy to minipulate the poor and uneducated
for their personal gain.
Viet Sim Fi *********I doubt that Mohammad was a pedophile. By the standards of his age and the society he lived in, his actions were proper. Furthermore, it is not known with certainty how old his young wife, Aisha, was at the time their marriage was consumated. Some say nine, some say sixteen. (Sixteen, while uncommon, is not unknown even in our own culture.) Nine is unacceptable in our culture, but worldwide and though out the ages the cultural norm was closer to theirs than ours. Further more, the little girl was not used and then flung out on the streets. She was cared for and protected throughout life.
After pouring billions of dollars into Afghanistan and fighting for ten years to give democracy a chance in that country, losing thousands' of soldiers lives in the process, it's time to realize that Afghanistan is a lost cause. If average Afghans would have channeled the same amount of rage and energy towards defeating the Taliban as they have during this protest, the insurgency would have been defeated a long time ago. Instead, most Afghans treat the war like a spectator sport. The U.S. should pull-out now and leave Afghanistan to wallow in its backwardness, its poverty and corruption, its misogyny, and its religious fundamentalism. I don't feel sorry for Afghans anymore.
Unfortunately what would then happen is that the Taliban and Al Qaida would step right in and start planning world-wide 9-11's all over again. The only thing that will work in Afganistan is about a 40 year committment by the USA and the UN to put enough troops to utterly control ALL the cities in Afganistan, dissolve the corrupt government currently in power, establish schools, hospitals, and support centers everywhere, especially in the rural areas, and FORCE reeducation down their throats until we have at least 2 generations of Afganis that have not grown up under a 9th Century philosophy and theology. Of course the USA and the UN WON'T do that, and our grandchildren will have to deal with the messes we create and leave in place. When you ignore a rabid-dog it doesn't stop biting!
Maybe if you tell them that American Media outlets will gladly publish derogatory imagery concerning Christians and Christianity but it won't dare do the same to Muslims and the great Allah it will calm them down.

9/11 were due to Saudis, Pakis and UAE.
The same Saudis, oil companies and their lobbyists led to Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Pakis help here means there will be more processions and riots all over including Pakistan.
Pakistan is an ally on "war on terror."
Can Saudis, trusted ally of many, not help in this war and controlling this crowd?
Now the same people want Iran and Syria wars!
The people being liberated do not want the liberators. Imagine that. Time to leave.

Do reporters even research their stories or just make things up and hope for the best?
you do when they are captured insurgents when we are in a war. you obviously have no clue on any military detention and interrogation procedures.
"Do reporters even research their stories or just make things up and hope for the best?"
Nope, they purposely leave important info out to flame the fire so to speak. bad news sells don't you know?..LOL
When it finally becomes routine there will no longer be this phony outrage over it.
clebro........your on the ball.....
THEY destroy our bibles and think nothing of it....
ANYWAY if it's your you may do as you wish with it....
What right have they to dictate to you what you should do with it.
If i had a koran i would do with it what i wished...
CHRISTIANITY CAME BEFORE ISLAM
The last census showed a population of 29,835,392. Demonstration of 2,000.
Thats .000067% of the population. Not much of a turn-out.
They did learn from the civil rights movement in the USA. Burn the buildings, the USA will build new ones. Then they can trash them.
Time to get out. Let them kill each other, not us.
Who is the idiot that didn't burn those books into ash?
They should prop him up outside the gate with a sign around his neck and teach the next guy how to properly light a fire.
Did we learn nothing from the Russians and their defeat in Afganistan?
Give me DEMOCRACY not theocracy.....that is the essence of the First Amendment.
they could have recycled them into toilette paper or used them for rolling papers for their gungie
They should have shredded the terrorist bible and used it to line the floors of dog kennels and horse stalls.
We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. What do you say we "don't" for a while and get ourselves back in order?
Barack Obama Promise to End War;
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. " - Barack Obama Campaign Promise - October 27, 2007
WHAT BANK WOULD THAT BE BARACK ??????
____________________________________________________
Immediately after being elected, obama won the Nobel Peace Prize and celebrated by doubling troupe numbers in Afghanistan.
obama does not deserve re-election, but will doubtless serve a second term due to the monkeys in the republican party running against him.
We so need a true leader.
We have NO business is that s%&* hole of a country called Afghanistan, nor pakistan, nor iraq, nor saudi arabia.
They would use any reason to start trouble in those countries...they have nothing better to do.
80% of that POS country is illiterate..most never read the Quran/Koran whatever the hell its called.
noiwontyesiwill, really Extreme Christians are the same as extreme Muslims, I've yet to see Extreme Christians riot and have any members killed. I've yet to see this country ran by a Christian Theology. Stick to your hate filled world, all these candidates were in power of some sort and managed to leave their religion behind.
Wasn't it members of Congress who wanted to imprison Americans for burning the U.S. flag?
This is what happens when you have poor, uneducated masses of people, who have no work, no government support, being led by ultar-conservative religious zealots.
Now, why does that sound so familiar ?
MTpolitico,
I love love love your philosophy. Burn the Quran to weed out the radicalized soon to be if not already terrorists. Go out in their town square and just start a fire. I love it!!!!!!!!!
Four words... BRING THE TROOPS HOME...
Why is it OK to burn Bibles over there, but not defaced Qurans?
Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. This is in answer to the comment that you never see extreme christians killing.
Ken Waltz---GLAZE 'EM OVER!
1wizard; funny comment, but perhaps true!
Highly Opin, what does the flag have to do with religion?
This was certainly unexpected....
With Saudis and Pakis as allies can you predict anything?
There will be only unexpected and not much expected.
For leaders like Bush, all are over with "mission accomplished."
Would be leader bush please explain why we are there.
Peter Jacobs,
Neither Bush nor Obama nor Carter Reagan Clinton etc...are to blame for 911 or the current was.
AGAIN, I do not believe that this is their intent, but they, in effect, worship a man and a made object, and place them on a level with Allah.
could islam be the beast and anti-christ of revelations. I see alot of simularities does anyone else?
Peter Jacobs;
Joe- Are you sure it wasn't the UN that got us involved in Libya and Egypt?
And the women, in every Islamic country.
How well did that work out for American on Sept. 11, 2001?
Rabid dogs don't stay in their own yard.
The US is over there for humanitarian reasons?
The U.S. is over there because the generals at the pentagon like to fight.
Funny thing for a country that you said everyone can't stand we sure have a long line of those people trying to become citizens.
madness is boiling over... it seems that a large nuclear war is at hand.. CONFUSIUS
I think we should let our troops open fire on the bastards.
Trends of the posts in Afghanistan are: we have no jobs in Afghanistan and let us leave!
At the same time, on Iran and Syria: what are we doing, Iran is going to get WMD and blast us in the US, what is Obama doing, or something similar!
At least some wars should teach some lessons.
Let me remind: Starting from N. Korea we have not won any major wars!
Cuba is next door!
English bad is, Jonathan suspect USA person is not - person Afghanistan probably
UDunnoBro: When one can't counter the arguments, I usually get your garbage!
My two IT books were published by one of the best publishers of the US and they are very popular.
Editors did a great job!
UDunnobro, I thought It was me.
wlee: When there are no points and some don't understand much, some start talking and acting like Bush, Jr.
They don't know much either!
I agree Charles. I would also like to see the same here at home.
Charles <<< >>> They would not be growing their opium fields, did not the west provide a market to buy their crops.
I agree, livinginthewoods....(and well said, Charles the Hammerhead)
The parallel's between Hammerhead's comment and what is going on in this country is creeping me out......How long before the GOP has us women wearing bhurkas?
You're right Joe, they didn't burn those Korans enough! Next time burn them to ashes.
if i had known that there was a party i would have crawled ten miles but naked over burning sand and broken glass on my belly just to get a gallon of gas
JOE- read the story- it was afghan laborers who were burning them. The books were in bags, and they were ripping them open to burn them.
Win what?
Sarah, the peace, as well as rights for women
Matilda Tuscany
People who do not know their facts, and publish unresearched opinions as fact look foolish. The west is not the biggest consumer of opiates as you claim. You need to read the UN report on opiate consumption. The middle east is the biggest consumer (Opium+heroin). The US and Canada are way down on the list. On average, per capita, the (Opium+Heroin) consumption in North America is about 1/3 that of the middle east.
http://www.unodc.org/documents/data-and-analysis/WDR2011/World_Drug_Report_2011_ebook.pdf
Ritdog, you just proved my point, thank you.
GTFO.
Lets see 2000 protesters in a country of how many?
2,000 people protesting ...big f'n deal. Let's make a media sensation out of it. More people show up at the free cheese line in Kabul.
We should have just F'in nuked them 9/12/2001.
I was going to post a comment but our Liberal Media censors don't like what I was saying or how I was saying it so they can F--- off.
Burn that Unholy Quran. Piss on it and @!$%# on it.
Why not simply recycle them as toilet paper in the latrine? They had already been desecrated by the Afghans by the notes written in them.
They should thank whoever it is they pray to that we AREN'T who they think we are.
do a fly over, spray that country with pig blood. Then let it be known all of our ammo is dipped in pig blood. NOW lets see how they feel!
these lice infected idiots should get down on their rugs and pray that i'm not president because i'm would tell the air force to lock and load 250 b-52's and bomb these idiots for 30 days 24/7.
So this is the Presidents fault?
WOW, just WOW.
You nailed it, Jim D
I suggest a giant book burning on the Capital Lawn... all korans donated by citizens whose friends or relatives have members killed in the mid east...
Not all animals can be trained and this is a prime example. Bring our troops home.
Beware of the man that carries but one book....
Women weren't allowed to be educated
What would the peace loving, child molester Mohammad think of these actions.
He never thought, had he thought we would not have the mess that Islamm has created. This is no better than the Holy Wars and is plain stupidity. it is just a bunch of uneducated idiots following the lead of those who are educated, who have found it easy to minipulate the poor and uneducated
for their personal gain.
He uis busy in HELL paying for all of the crimes he commuitted and does not have time to think.
Ever see Adam Sandlers Little Nicky?...LOL..I hope him and Hitler are getting the pineapple...:)
Funny thing Jesus didn't have sex with children, or teenaged girls.
Oh, yeah. Great idea.
Idiot.
Jab, who do you think are the protesters?
Get Out Now.
