Jay----you are brilliant. If the illegals are untouchable then this guy should be offered the same courtesy. After all they are claiming he is a citizen.
He's crapping on a few wealthy folk while the illegals crap on all of us by using up every resource we will allow them to use. We all pay the taxes that provide the health and welfare benefits illegal aliens use every single day. Why aren't these thieves being hunted down?
He only takes what he needs and he does not damage anything out of malice. That is a minimal crime IMO. If I had a cabin there I would count my blessings.
He's probably no worse than a wild bear or an illegal alien. The authorities are just embarrassed and frustrated and making him out to be dangerous. I'm sure he has to hunt with these guns as much as anything.
Max^108 - Didn't you read the article? He is leaving the homes riddled with bullet holes. I seriously doubt that if you came back to your cabin and found it all shot up and robbed that you would consider it a "minimal crime". You'd be rightfully pissed off.
A guy robs a house in a suburb and he's a criminal...a guy robs a house on a mountain and some people in this forum act like he's a folk hero. Such bizarre logic.
Max - If you had read the entire article, he HAS riddled a few cabins with bullets, something about religious items in the house being defiled. I'd be less worried about this guy if he kept a tidier camp and cleaned up after himself, leaving less of a trail. The fact that the supplies are a scattered, unorganized mess tell me this guy probably has some mental issues.
The government is doing the same thing to all of us everyday: Invading our privacy, robbing us with high taxes and then colluding with petroleum companies which harms our environment.
Here we have a low-life scumbag burglarizing dozens of houses, and all we get is losers hating the rich and businesses. These losers actually seem to sympathize with the crook. No doubt these are occupiers taking a break.
These losers actually seem to sympathize with the crook. No doubt these are occupiers taking a break
Who said anything about sympathizing with the crook? So if we have a problem with big government and them taking sides with the corporations, that makes us "Occupiers"?
No wonder, nothing ever gets done in this country, there's way too much division.
But the man authorities say is armed and dangerous...
And while there have been no violent confrontations, detectives say he's a time bomb.
Typical police jargon - "we have no idea who he is but we know he is dangerous."
Hey police, if you are really serious about catching this guy pretend he shot at another policeman. That way you could drop everything else and spend 100% of your time and resources on catching him.
My dad watched in fear from inside his house as a man and a woman cased his house...checking the doors...calling each other on cell phones. Then he looked out back and a third guy was jump over the wall into his back yard carrying a large empty duffle bag and a hammer. He had called 911. When the cops got there...they questioned the people who just kept replying that they were looking for a friend's house. Nothing ever came of it. Sad. Only way the police do anything is when one of their own is in trouble.
I'm amazed and appalled at everyone who seems to think that there is nothing wrong with what this man is doing! 1) He is breaking into other people's property. 2) He is robbing them of their personal belongings and in some cases is vandalizing and destroying said property. 3) His actions are intimidating enough to cause fear for everyone who lives in those mountains, which are in fact in remote locations and hard to call for or receive help. 4) On a more minor note he is littering the environment with his filth (which I would hardly call mountain man-ish since true mountain men respect the environment they dwell in).
It is clear that he IS in fact a time bomb, and chooses the cabins belonging to religious persons for vandalism and target practice. It is only a matter of time before he directs his violence at a person and not just the buildings, when the perfect opportunity presents itself and he comes across someone who is home, in the middle of nowhere, with no way out.
@ all of you "smart" sheeple who read the entire article and evidently believe everything they read: Do you really think the authorities have 100% proof that this guy shot up the cabins/homes? Could it be there are some vandals running around as well? How do they truly know he is dangerous, just because he has firearms?
I am not condoning any actions of his, nor am I condoning the authorities possible exaggerations.
The cops try to make him out to be armed and dangerous so some violent, macho man cop can shoot him on site and then be hailed as a hero. He might just be sick of all the govt. bullsh1t and police state and hater bigots. I guess in this country being not "normal" is a crime.
Schoolyard, I agree, hopefully they will be ready and able to defend themselves by any means necessary!
D Dirty, I hate to break it you but when you ARE in fact carrying weapons, burglarizing homes and stealing things from them, whether it be in the city or in the mountains, you ARE in fact considered armed and dangerous. Being "not normal" is not a crime, the actual CRIMES are, in case you didn't notice.
To commie mommy, I grew up in mountains an ALWAYS carried some form of fire arm and even entered a cabin or two to find food or shelter. In the old wildernesses many cabins were stocked with basic provisions just for that reason and perfectly legal to use. I don't think anyone considered me armed and dangerous. The wildernesses are shrinking but it's pilgrims' fear and mentality that would make a person dangerous. Stay off the mountains pilgrims, animals need it for habitat.
American Socialist Super Awesome response Ive always said first Rock salt shell, then bird shot, then slug. We have mountain homes in the sierras that go untouched all winter. First place I am headed when the Big earthquake hits. Or the 2012 end of the world theory. LOL
P.S. really non armed and expecting the Sheriffs to be able to show up in time. In the mountains? They cant even show up in the city in time.
Here's what the cops aren't sharing. I know a couple who's cabin was broken into and vandalized. The four page "note" he left warning them to "get off his mountain" was very detailed about how he was going to torture and dismember them if he ever came back and found them there. No normal person does that. No one sits and thinks about how to torture and kill another person and write it out in great detail unless there is something very wrong with them. Think Columbine. Those kids did a whole lot of fantasizing before they finally got the courage to play out their fantasies in the real world. Armed? Yes. Dangerous? Definitely.
I realize many comments are taking what he is in the midst of doing lightheartedly. However, if I returned to my home after work (and I'm not rich) and found it robbed and with bullet holes in it I would be quite freaked out and most definitely on the phone to the police.
Richard The whole story is about the police not having a clue. They probably won't have a clue until somebody stops at the coffee shop and sticks it under their nose.
Lax gun laws? You bet and stories like this get the NRA shills out in numbers. I know, he steals some of his guns, but, I'm willing to bet that the guy purchased many legally. Glad to be a part of a wild west mentality society.
This guy has been at this for FIVE YEARS!!!! His time has been up for a while because living off the land and not being able to access modern medical help means any injury is serious. This is more a simple matter of time. One misstep, a drink of bad water, a cut that gets infected all are killers in his situation. Here is hoping no other people get injured while this guy is still active.

Living in those conditions were common place when the west was settled. I bet the guy makes sure that he steals antibiotics, bandages, books, and any other thing he might deem necessary. They'll catch him when he's ready to be caught, just like Eric Rudolph.
Everybody is so worried about this "Police State" crap talk from the fear mongers......... yeah....!
So... here you have cops scratching their balls and yawning wondering who this guy is... they don't know...even with all of their fancy expensive computers... all their so-called "smart" detectives... with all their GI Joe and Ninja costumes, all their fancy guns that they love to walk around playing soldier with... all their fancy schools that they claim they learn so much at... but...
If nobody talks to the cops, and "TELLS" them something.... if nobody knows this so-called mountain man, if he really exists at all, if nobody comes forward and snitches to the cops who this guy is and where he is....... they are just playing pocket pool with each other.... which tells us a lot about the cops... they are quite the bunch of fools they show themselves to be more and more every day.... without somebody telling them what to look for and where to look for it they are just impotent...what a surprise...!
Sandtrich What proof do YOU have that those guns were bought. Maybe from the fast and furious crowd. Like all those NRAers say, criminals will get guns anyway they can. An American citizen has the right to own weapons to protect themselves from individuals like this. If you are a felon or have a mental disability you have given up your rights to carry a weapon. I guess you have heard this all before. Until Obama and Clinton takes away our rights to have guns any legal citizen that wants a weapon have the right to buy one. YOU don't have to.
Maybe he is former special forces and got sick of society. Probably being former SF is maybe why they can't catch him. I mean it does sound kinda plausible. After all the guy has evaded them all this time and they have all kinds of surveillance and thermal equipment.
Special Forces? (the Rambo crack was a joke) I guess anything is possible, but more than likely just he's just "street wise" possessing a quality seldom seen these days called common sense. Some guys are sharper than most of the other knives in the drawer, however, they are usually undone by someone they would least expect like....a good friend. Some folks have the ability to blend in, to go unnoticed. Before modern technology such as good communication (radio, telephone etc,) many criminals roamed about for years some never coming to justice. You would think that by odds alone he would have slipped up by now but it is a big country. Unless he commits some capital crime his experience would make interesting material for a book down the road.
Stoned: Maybe Utah mormons have finally founed "Bigfoot " & this mountain man is one of his offspring.
Why would anyone not get stoned in this world today. If I owned one of those cabins I woud bake up some " mary jane " brownies & leave the guy the F#$k alone.
Most likely he was trained to kill in the US military, given a medal of honor for his kills than was expected to integrate beack into a so called society with absolutely no support. Sound familiar? Utah cops get a life & stop having so f$#king many kids. When will you mormons get that you are breaking the law. Poligamy is illegal in the US so take your idiotic religion to another country & let us all off the hook & shut the F#$k UP !!!!
After re-reading all the details in the article the whole thing sounds a little creepy. I can't help but think this guy is traveling around in a vehicle or camper and working from various locations, and then moving to fresh pasture. The catch is what does he use as a cover story to alleviate suspicion, gold prospector---writer----artist? It would have to be something that would explain his presence or activities. Another question would be how does he come up with the cash necessary to get by for gas and other necessities. He would tend to stick out more in the winter months leading me the think he may have a place to crash when needed like the home of an old acquaintance or relative; perhaps one place or more. (Makes me want to fire up the keyboard and write a good novel.) Regarless of the circumstances it will interesting to see how this "pans out". I hope no one gets hurt and from the sounds of things there is a potential for trouble if he's cornered. I know one thing if I lived in the area I would keep one eye peeled for this bird and carry the means to protect myself.
S.O.B. took a dump right in the middle of my floor. Damn near kill myself walking in the cabin and skidding across the room into the kitchen in the dark.
Hey DD, maybe you should make some MJ brownies, it sounds like you need something to bring you down from that crack high. I can't tell if you want this guy to get caught or not, but the Mormon rant is classic. I didn't know cops in Utah had tons of kids. Are cops in Utah all Mormon, because you know Utah's only about 60% Mormon right? I mean, feel free to lump one state all together, that sounds like what a stoned redneck hillbilly/hippy would do.
D Dirty, that might be true in the "old wildernesses" but times have changed. When people lock their doors on their own property to keep others out, no one is just welcome to come in, steal from them and destroy their homes or items in it. I too grew up in the mountains, I still live in the mountains, and we carry firearms as well. Even if you did in fact enter any cabins at some time or another, I highly doubt that you were vandalizing them, putting bullet holes in walls, defecating in the homes, and leaving notes making threats against the homeowners. This so-called mountain man is nothing of the sort, and again, is definitely armed and dangerous.
chooses the cabins belonging to religious persons for vandalism and target practice.
He isn't specifically looking for religious people's homes. But the cops think that by interjecting that point that they might be able to elevate this to a hate crime.
The cops know the religious homes have been vandalized because he may have messed up their religious mormon shrines they all have right inside the front door.
Why Hell, don't ya all know who that is, come on' everybody knows that guy, he's Famous been around for years, heck thats ol' DB Cooper himself, he jumped from that Boeing 727 over portland in the early 1970's with $200,000 strapped to his back,, yip ol' DB,, still out foxin,, go DB Cooper - Go !
dano: I was also thinking it might be the clandestine filming of a Jeremiah Johnson sequel, until I read about the damage and litter. Redford would not litter!
don't worry, the insurance companies are pissed. They told me this will make my rates and all my neighbors rates go up, all for a house I use TWO weeks out of the year! so now I am pissed! I should have never called them when this happened... so me and my neighbors are gonna pitch a fit til this monster is apprehended, and brought to justice. oh and we taxpayers will all pay for that. it's called socialism.
If he left the cabins the way he found them, wouldn't steal stuff and wouldn't leave trash in the forest then MAYBE we might think it's kooky but not dangerous. This guy shoots up the cabins, loots them and then leaves trash behind in the forest. Not cool.
Folk hero? "We like these kind of folk heroes"? Really? Look, he isn't robbing the rich and feeding the poor, he's a burglar and a vandal. Period. A common criminal.
No, I would say this dude is an uncommon criminal. If he @!$%# in my cabin and shot it up I'd be pissed. It's easy to take things from people who are miles and miles away, he's just another @!$%#head who can't make in the real world and steals to get by, he is not a hero, he is a cowered and a thief!!
I don't think the barefoot bandit was as dangerous as this guy. The barefoot bandit stole food, cars, and airplanes. This guy steals food and expensive equipment, but he also steals guns, shoots up houses, defaces religous icons, and poops on the floor. If he accidently ran into someone I find it hard to believe he wouldn't shoot them.
gotta wonder if 5 years of paying police and FBI to hunt him is cost effective. These police and FBI make alot of money and none of them drive smart cars or take buses. I mean what's it worth ,how much of our socialized police force labor are we willing to afford?
What do you mean, 'we'? I condemn and never condone this behaviour.
You speak only for yourself in this matter, Exotix. I'm appalled at this man and what he does. Do you know what defecate means? This man's cheese is sliding off his cracker.
I don't think the correct name for these "beam" structures is "cabin". They are as far from a "cabin" as a rowboat is from a ocean liner. Most are stunningly beautiful and seldom valued at less than a million dollars. "CABIN"?.....I don't think so!
"Jud Hendrickson, a 62-year-old mortgage adviser from nearby St. George who keeps a trailer in the area"
One trailer does not make them all trailers. If you check to photo in the picture you'd see in the background that it's not a cheap porch he walking by. Some of these cabins can be luxurious which may be why he leaves some in good condition and others a mess.
and yes, there are million dollar TRAILERS...you can get just about anything you want and need these days. they are called 5th wheelers...and they can get big and fancy depending on how you deck them out on the inside.
Yes I'm sure the mention of a trailer was not in the trailer park sense. This place wasn't' referred to as a campground it was referred to as a resort.
Any and all Occupiers will read this article with joy. They may have finally found their spokesperson. Okay they didn't find him yet but you know what I mean.
It's funny how millions of Americans can get ripped off by Wall Street and nothing is done about it so we just let it go. Someone mentions this guy can be a folk hero and we are all up in arms.
Remember what we are arguing here, it is a bunch of speculation. The guy might be psycho, he might be dangerous or he might be some dude that has a problem with the rich and is doing it as a goof. Show the pictures of the trashed cabins, the shot up walls, the poop in a pot......was all this confirmed or are we making a petty thief larger than life?
Apparently he is pretty intelligent since he leaves a trail of trash and nobody can catch him.
My bet is when he goes into a modest cabin he only takes what he needs and does little damage. When he breaking into a million dollar place, he rips it up. He is just a job creator. Just think of how many Service-Pro people have to be hired to clean up the messes he leaves behind. Then there is all the home repair guys, interior decorators and security consultants etc et etc.
In New England they call 'em Camps. It doesn't matter what they call them, they're still private property, and the man doesn't have any right to break into them and destroy what they have because they have more money than he does. Whether they are little shacks or mansions, nobody begrudges a hungry man a can of food, but thinking you can break into people summer homes and live off them is wrong. The Barefoot Bandit laughed at police and law enforcement and broke into homes and stores and businesses over and over. He only will serve about 6 years for dozens and dozens of state and federal crimes. I think that is too light a sentence.
Seems to me that they just recently became interested in catching him..no matter what they say. He is one man in a wilderness, but he apparently spends a lot of time near population and has somewhat a pattern and they have located his spike camps before it seems. If they can send guys who have never stepped foot out of North America to a middle eastern desert to successfully hunt down insurgents who's people have fought and blended seamlessly into that landscape for centuries...then surely if they really concentrated on it they could find this guy.
It also sounds like he needs finding if he's taken to leaving death threats and riddling house's with bullets as his calling card.
FYI: Has it occured to anyone that this guy may not be the culprit at all. I believe it's copy cats, and surely the blame will fall on this guy. He's probably not the one doing the littering either, as he doesn't want to be followed by leaving a trail of litter. Too easy.
TVAR? They ARE cabins, the price of the structure does not define what type the structure is, no more than the price of a boat defines what kind of boat it is. The design is what defines it. Moron.
I would say it just goes to show how irresponsible those rich people are with their Firearms. They give other owners a really bad name... They should not be allowed to own any type of Firearm..
So other than the break-in's to find food and some joy juice what has this guy done that makes him such a horrible person, oh I see, he has scared the irresponsible owners?
Granted he needs to be arrested and tried for the breakin's but it appears the local Police just aren't up to the job so now they'll try to really make him out to be a really bad man and as in Rambo start a war...Did anyone else notice the criminal carries what appears to be a Marine Corps K-Bar by the type of sheath extending from under the coat....He could be an Iraq era Veteran trying to get his head together after the war and an unappreciative Veteran Administration via the Congressional Committee on VA not fully funding the VA for all the needs of our Service men who sure gave up more than any Liberal Non-Producer ever did in L.A. or Chicago who appear to have unlimited benefits...Is the Anti-Military Senator Bob Filner still heading up that committee...Heck when I worked in his District in So.Cal. I read the S.D.Union every Sunday and if there was Bill favorable to the Military he voted against it,,and now they put him in Charge of this Committee...How sick.....Yeah, I bet it is a War Vet trying to work it all out..His typical Liberal unfaithful wife or girlfriend dumped him upon return and he is just dealing with a mental mess and trying to survive the way he learned how...
That or he is just a Liberal who found a niche in-which to survive on other peoples hard-work as most due....
Hey I can make up stories just like the Media! Maybe I'll send in my resume...
eddie, you hit the nail on the head. If this guy had been breaking into some white-trash trailer or some local's home, then this wouldnt be a story. More homes and cabins are broken into by teenagers and gangs. Instead, because these are rich peoples' second and third homes, and they were irresponsible enough to leave guns in them unattended, then this gets national news. The photo also makes him a spectacle like Sasquatch. I hope this guy continues to evade the police and make more rich home owners look like fools. I dont condone the illegal activities, but anytime the rich are made to look foolish with their follies of security, I'd read that story or watch that movie.
Cygnus_X-1: Where do you live? I want to break in and damage your property, no matter what you have. Why should you care? It's only your time and money spent on it. So what if it's not within the 'wealthy' range? Who cares? It's only property. Let's teach you a lesson!
Snookums, you are missing the point. Why are these guns left in what is an abandon structure. Apparently these are summer homes so what is the reason for leaving the firearms behind? Like they say, guns don't kill people, people kill people. The guns aren't protecting the property with nobody there to fire them.
Everyone is mentioning the fact that they don't condone the act but the irresponsible owners really do look like fools because they have everything available for this guy and apparently it isn't too difficult to break in since it's been going on for five years.
If you are going to build out in the middle of nowhere you still need to find a way to protect your property. I'm sure there are a few writers that will watch the place while they write their next novel.
I hope they do catch the guy only so we can find out that it is a military man who is treated like a second class citizen when he comes back home. All he ever did was protect our freedoms and put his life on the line for total strangers. On the other hand, people that created wealth, not earned it, on Wall Street have their little shacks up in the mountains stocked with guns they probably don't even know how to load let alone fire. You know, the people that ripped off your 401k and got away with it. Yes, let's protect them and treat the people that protect us like garbage.
I know I am working off of assumptions but so was half the article.
You don't even know what you are talking about. Most of these cabins aren't "second or third homes". They are family cabins that have been in some families for 4 or 5 generation. While there might be a few that are "Rich", most of them are just small family getaways to enjoy the wilderness. Did you even read that one of the people just has a trailer? As far as those that have guns, I agree that they shouldn't leave them in the cabins but the story doesn't provide information about the specific cabins that had guns. Were they hunting camps that so many of these families have used for years? Your assumptions are based on false knowledge (I do have knowledge since I've had the opportunity to stay in one of these "Rich" cabins. It was an A-frame with no indoor plumbing a small kitchen and a loft for sleeping.) It is easy to see that the comments are all coming from city dwelling people who have never actually been in the wilderness, nor do they have any clue about who the guy is. They make assumptions based on their own lack of experience. The only fact is the guy is a criminal who is armed. He needs to be found, and if he is truly mentally impaired, given the help that he needs.
eddie s-802886 : If he stole their car and didn't commit vehicluar manslaughter, should the rich be banned from owning cars too? Because that's exactly what you're saying. Because, you know, he hasn't actually shot anyone.
Browns Backer: And your proof that these cabins are abandoned is.... ? HE BROKE IN. For all we know the guns were in safes that he was able to get into (let's face it, if you have a week, no safe is foolproof). If he broke into YOUR house while you were on vacation, would you say that you were irresponsible leaving him easy access to your car, kitchen knives and other possession? PLEASE.
As for your military point, wow. I hope they find out he was a member of Occupy Oakland, and now is just Occuping Utah.
What makes them irresponsible? They left their guns in gun safes, which he broke into with a crowbar. He shot up their homes, and stole their things. What part of that is the owner of the cabins fault?
@marty...got news for ya.i have a cabin in NY that is surrounded by 10,000 acres of state forest.it isnt worth much, but i always take my firearms with me when i leave.not to do so is just idiotic and asking for trouble.(nothing worse than staring down the barrel of your own gun !)
Theres nothing wrong with rooting for a guy exploiting the rich - theyve (the rich) been doing it to the rest of us since man started using currency in place of a barter system! Thats why the story of Robin Hood is so popular.
I say, good on this fella, as long as he ISN'T a man with a low moral code (capable of harming a child or unarmed person, or otherwise burglaring from the poor).
Also, whats all the whoopdedoo about unattended firearms in some remote cabin?? Are you guys worried about a bear shootout or something?
Seems theyre safer and much more in place in the remote mountains than in someones luxury surburban home!
Snookums, you are missing the point. Why are these guns left in what is an abandon structure. Apparently these are summer homes so what is the reason for leaving the firearms behind?
So if I go on vacation for a week I need to bring all of my guns along with me? It would be irresponsible for me to leave them unattended even though they are locked up in my home? What a ridiculous argument.
You are all missing the point. In this country we have the right to property. That means we are allowed to own our own things and nobody has the right to just take it from us. I should be able to leave all my guns just lying in the front yard. Regardless of how stupid that would be, if you come by and take my guns, you are still a thief. You can't just break into someones home and take take their things and vandalize their property, no matter where it's located or how much money they have.
Many of you have commented on how these rich people basically deserve to get robbed because they did not properly protect their things. May I submit that your thinking is completely backwards. The perfect world is not one where no crime is committed because everything is so secured that it can't be done. A perfect world is one where people respect each other to the point where no door ever needs to be locked because nobody would think of breaking in.
Nobody deserves to be a victim. I don't know what your mothers taught you about right and wrong but you all need to learn that lesson again.
unfortunately, if he is shooting up places and trashing them, then he is off his rocker which takes away all the fun of being a potential Robin Hoodesque figure.
Because after all, you dont want to trash a place you might want to come back to next winter, any more than you want to pour motor oil into a good fishing spot!
He should be leaving the places clean, a bit light on the things he needs out in the wilderness, with polite thank you letters. THAT would be Epic!
Unfortunately, Rhino, that world doesnt exist. If it did, there wouldnt be exploitation of the poor and obscene wealth funneled up to a few. But because that IS the world we live in, when those with little strike back, it brings comfort to the huddled masses. Your perfect world sounds nice. Let me know when you find where it exists.
That world does not exist only because people like yourself think it's more productive to throw a pitty party then try and do some good in the world. Americans in general love to complain about poverty and how unfair our system is. The reality is, we have one of the few systems in the world where the very poor can become the very rich. Most Americans have never even seen real poverty, much lesss experienced it. We live in a country where the single biggest health issue facing our poor is not disease or starvation, it's obesity.
If you don't like being poor then do something about it. Nobody is stopping you. But do it honestly.
how is it the richs person fault that hes is BREAKING INTO THEIR HOMES....how does that make them irresponsible? they should be aloud to leave whatever they want in the home just like you should be aloud to leave what ever you want in your home. He used a crow bar to open gun cases did you not read the article? to me that seems very responsible that its in such a case that takes that much effort to get into...hes steeling and breaking into these home rich or not.....you sound very jealous that these peoples guns cost more than you trailer.....poor you!
Eddie you moron. I am going to steal your car and run over some people. Will that make you irresponsible? There always has to be some hidden message in these stories for a bunch of idiots to find for us. It can't just be that some guy is breaking into cabins!
"I say, good on this fella, as long as he ISN'T a man with a low moral code (capable of harming a child or unarmed person, or otherwise burglaring from the poor)."
Are you insane?
If this guy is breaking into homes and burglarizing them, HE HAS NO MORAL CODE. It's okay as long as they are rich? That is perhaps one of the stupidest things I have read today, and I've read a LOT. You are more than likely rich compared to the starving in-say-Africa. So it's okay for someone to come and rob YOU?
I dont condone the illegal activities, but anytime the rich are made to look foolish with their follies of security, I'd read that story or watch that movie.
Soooo, you don't condone illegal activities .... that is, ..... unless you condone them. Sounds reasonable to me.
I say, good on this fella, as long as he ISN'T a man with a low moral code (capable of harming a child or unarmed person, or otherwise burglaring from the poor).
So it would be okay for him to harm an armed person, and it would be okay to burglar the rich. Stupidest argument I have heard in a while. Let's justify doing all sorts of harmful things just because we think other people (that we don't even know) deserve it somehow. You seem to be chasing Robin Hood, but honestly I see more Hitler in you. Also, Robin Hood wasn't a good guy because he robbed the rich, he was a good guy because he robbed the evil. Rich does not equal evil anymore than poor equals evil.
Strengthinnumbers, what is rich? To a man living on the streets, eating out of a garbage can, you, no matter how poor you might consider yourself, are rich. There will ALWAYS be someone poorer than you. So then, according to your reasoning, it would be perfectly acceptable for someone less fortunate than you, to burglarize you? Okay then.
Look up 'liberal' in the dictionary, people. It means open-minded. Not crazy, anti-religious, or anti-republican/conservative. Also, 'conservative' actually means cautious, especially with money and other resaurces.. Funny how so many Americans totally misuse these two words... Not so funny how so many 'liberals' are nothing but, and so many 'conservatives' don't come close to the meaning of that word as well.
OK then I'll break into your house multiple times, take a dump on your stuff, destroy your house, and maybe sleep in there every once in a while. Then you tell me how you feel. The fact is this guy could possibly start killing people. Then how would you feel? Also, I love how you immediately assume he's a liberal. So, I'm gonna be an idiot stereotyper like you and say you're a redneck who loves his guns
Eddie, please leave your address on here and we'll all come riddle your house with bullets, trash the inside, break open any safes you might have, eat your food, drink your booze and crap on your floor. I mean, nothin' wrong with that, right? He broke in to what they had their weapons LOCKED UP in. LOCKED UP, dumbass. Where is the irresponsibility?
"So other than the break-in's to find food and some joy juice what has this guy done that makes him such a horrible person, oh I see, he has scared the irresponsible owners?" You honest to God believe this? I feel sorry for you if you really do. You have something wrong in your brain.
So let me get this straight....................The gun owners, in your opinion should be stripped of their Constitutional Rights because they are able to own a second house, and have firearms LOCKED inside said house. I guess there you have it, they were exercising their Constitutional Rights, and were in fact responsible because they were locked in a secluded cabin. Because they were not there for the moment, they should be stripped of all of their 2nd Amendment Rights because they were asking to be burglarized.
So if someone comes to your house, and breaks into your secured garage, and steals your car, I assume you should also loose your driving privileges for life as well. After all a car can be just as deadly as a gun.
Your logic is very problematic and wreaks of an anti-gun agenda. Not all gun owners have children in the house, or large collections, thus not all of them need a bulky safe, which is only a slight deterrent in the first place. Many thieves bust into gun-safes every year. How about instead, we hold the criminals responsible for their actions, and put the blame where it belongs instead of trying to carry out some poorly written gun-control rhetoric. The Constitution should be for all, you want to change it, move to another country which supports preventing their citizens from shooting sports and self-defense. Stripping a person's rights because they were victimized is an insult to all who have given their lives in defense of those rights.
I understand you mentioned California, so you may not be familiar with having Freedom, but it shouldn't be taken away because of being victimized. What you are suggesting is further victimizing those who have done nothing wrong, except work hard to provide for themselves. If somebody wants the same thing???...............Don't steal it! Get a job and earn it!
Hey eddie s: Did you know that all of the major media companies except one are owned and run by conservatives? No, you just whine "Lib'ral this and Lib'ral that" as if there really exists a Liberal bias in the media......yeah, right. Or, maybe that was the operative "made up story" you referred to in your post? Must be, otherwise you, like the guy living in the mountains, may have some serious mental issues.
Let me line up my sons so you can kiss their Liberal backsides, all three are Military, Army and Marine, so while you sit behind your computer spewing ignorance just remember you get to do that because my Liberal boys risk all to let you. Get your head out of your — — — and have a informed thought of your own you brainwashed child.
Just because we believe in the Constitution and that every man is created equal and should be treated as such, regardless of color, gender, religion, sexual orientation or wealth, doesn't make us shiftless or stupid. Guess what? More poor and middle class people serve as soldiers than rich.
I leave my guns at home when I go on vacation as I couldn't possibly take them all with me. Is that irresponsible? They are locked in a safe as was one case referred to in the story. The nut job pried open the door.
You have issues and I advise you to seek mental help.
The longer this bird stays in the woods alone, the more demented he'll get. Guys like him don't get better as time goes on. He is a ticking time bomb. Send in a Marine Recon squad or the Army Rangers. He'll either be caught or "Capped" if he resists.
No he won't. Again, please don't speak about things you have no idea about. Look how long it took to find Bin Laden. He had a huge contingent of people and it took several years with thousands looking for him. This is one guy, in a vast area, who knows the terrain and is obviously good at hiding.
Thank God the government is NOT allowed to do that. Now on the other hand, if some of these fellows wanted to volunteer their time supporting local law enforcementefforts to track this nutcase down I think we could all get behind that.
Nope. Posse Comitatus. Terrorist or not, they can't use military troops for law enforcement on American soil (provided it's not on a military base, then they use MPs). Besides, sending in a group of Rangers would be asking for a misunderstanding. Maybe 10th Mountain Division, but that seems a bit like overkill.
If they can't find the Zodiac killer or D.B. Cooper how are they going to find him. Marty Mcfly is right it only took 20 years or more to find and kill Osama Bin Ladin. All I know is he is NOT an Indian. They care more for the planet.
Just a coffee loving mountain HO BO that needs to stop breaking and entering ....
He should leave notes on those cabin doors asking for donations of coffee and a little alcohol .... leave some for him in a box on the porch marked for the mountain HO BO ....
I do kind of like this idea. Let him know that if he protects the property he can stay there and eat all the food and drink all the booz he wants. That way your cabin stays safe and this guy is no longer a criminal. Not a bad solution.
I suppose that if you came home and your house was wrecked, goods stolen, and a pile of poop in the middle of the floor, you would just clean it up, and not call the police? Correct?
Pictures of poop don't exactly make great headlines. Not to mention the fact that photos of crime scenes are commonly called evidence, and are not published. Or I guess you would want pictures of your defaced home plastered on the internet?
Head, he probably wouldn't break in. If he did he might get shot. Unless the inhabitants are spineless Americans dependent on cops for their own safety.
I smell a modern-day folk hero in the making. I mean, think about it: the times are tough... everyday people are struggling to make ends meet, working numerous jobs below their education and skill levels just to put food on the table and keep the lights on. People are getting evicted from their homes and living in rental apartments while constantly seeing the elite get wealthier, while their own taxes go up and the money flies out of their pockets as soon as they get their meager paychecks. Enter: the Hero - a wilderness-dwelling survivalist who breaks into the resort cabins of the wealthy, drinks their booze, eats their food, and then sh*ts on their floor before leaving. Classic.
"Classic" what? Rude behavior? ("Yes" is the answer, Chris.) Illegal behavior? (Again, "yes" is the answer, Chris.) Oh, but he will protect his property with fire power, right, Chris, and that is HIS right, right, Chris? Your way of thinking is dangerous. Do something good for this world.
Are you okay, Snookums? You seem to be repeating my name a lot, Snookums. Is that some sort of nervous tic you have, Snookums? Or do you think it makes your comment more impactful, Snookums? Because, Snookums, it doesn't, Snookums, it just kinda makes you look like a slightly challenged person, Snookums.
My god people. Why so serious? I take what Chris said with a grain of salt. It's very amusing when you think about it but what's even more scary is it sounds like the American way.
I will tell you who is going to find this guy, The Discovery Channel and they will follow him with cameras and create the latest and greatest reality show. They can call it Cabin Fever and have it follow all the other redneck shows on the station.
Seriously Snookums and Mymom.................If this man breaks into my VACATION home I don't know that I would be all that upset because it DOESN'T EXIST. Try comparing apples to apples. This man isn't roaming around our local neighborhoods, he is in the mountains terrorizing a resort during off season OMG!!!!! You can have the same end result with a pack of wild bears.
The elite of the world can use some of that hard "created" money and make there little out of the way place more secure. It is their problem and they solve problems by throwing money at them. Throw some money and shut up because this doesn't affect me in any way.
I think what the real problem here is, their hideouts have been compromised. This is the location they will run to when the 99% have had enough of getting ripped off by so called investment bankers. Not the CEO's of companies that actually produce something, the scum of the earth that used their new math to create wealth on paper that only became real money when their bonuses got paid. Trouble is a mountain man can't tell the difference.
Again, you are obviously a city dweller who has never been to the area they are referring to. This isn't Park City or Vail we are talking about. This is a secluded area with mostly older cabins. The average cabin size is probably smaller than the double wide you live in so please stop commenting on things you don't understand.
I smell a modern-day folk hero in the making...People are getting evicted from their homes and living in rental apartments while constantly seeing the elite get wealthier, while their own taxes go up and the money flies out of their pockets as soon as they get their meager paychecks
I smell someone who sops up the liberal drivel and rhetoric and then attempts to regurgitate it on the rest of us as if we're all stupid enough to believe it.
this guy is not really living off the land..per say.....he makes a comfy living stealing from others......he does not work.....he does not contribute to anything....he cares only about his own well being......he takes his lame a$$ self to a place where he finds food and shelter and craps on the floor, then destroys the place.....what a POS a true survivalist would not need to do these things.....this guy is just a wanna be , low life jerk......who if i caught the SOB in my cabin.......well lets just say he is gonna be occupying a location that only me and him know about and he won't be talking.......for sure,...... open minded my a$$. this cretin deserves no sympathy if caught.....
Chris: "Are you okay, snookums?" R O F L M F A O!!! Oh, finally a formidable smartazz on this board besides me....lol. Thanks for your fantastic cuts, especially on Snookums. And Kilroy: you said "He makes a comfy living stealing from others" and I can't help but think of several real estate investment trusts, hedge funds and major banks when you say that. I wonder if any of the houses he robs are owned by the scum who brought down our economy, or started a war in the wrong country....could karmic justice be that accurate? Hmmmmm, Possiblyyyyyy.........
i'm pretty sure if it was your cabin he broke into, tore the place up, stole your property, and you had to clean the sh#t up off the floor you would still think that it was karmic justice?
Apparently there isn't much crime in that part of the country if this is consuming law enforcement time. Next we'll be hearing about the felony speeders they have on their roads.
I know, think of all those well-deserved supplies like guns and booze that those poor, poor mortgage managers leave sitting around in their luxury resort cabins in the mountains. How dare someone ELSE use them. They should just be sitting their for months and months until their rightful owners can come and look at them and be happy about all the useless wealth they've accumulated over the years. How DARE he?
You're right. They can spend it however they want. And then when they leave it sitting unattended, I can take it. If you have so much crap lying around that you can't keep an eye on it all, you don't need it.
The cabin owners worked for the money to buy them. They actually gave something to society. This guy just takes without giving. Where's the fairness in that?
This sense of entitlement is pathetic, just like occupy wall street.
Chris appears to be a thief by nature, since his assertion that if something is unattended he can take it is proof. Chris, try coming to my house and taking stuff. I'll even make it look "unattended" for you (real-time internet based surveillance is pretty cool), just so you can justify breaking and entering in your own thieving mind. Afterwards, while you are "indisposed", perhaps I will visit your unattended home.
You're probably an old fart who thinks his .30-06 in his gun safe makes him a hardass. Tough break for you, old man, but there are thugs out there who would eat your quaint little home defense system for breakfast and rape your wife for lunch. Just the hard facts of the world, grandpa, learn to deal with it.
may be if we treated like we were looking for bin laden...bomb the hell out of it spend billions kill hundreds of thousand... then attacked the neighboring states...our government needs to get more involved...
I bet your in your late 20's to early 30's with a pony tail?? Right??
No, and I'd bet I'm closer to the target when I bet you're 55-60, semi-retired, getting ready to suck up some Social Security and a pension and bitch that everyone else needs to work to get ahead while you grow fat and old on our tax and payroll dollars?
So Chris, if someone leaves their belongings unattended it gives you the right to steal it? Do you carry all of your belongings with you everywhere you go? Maybe you do, maybe you are homeless and using someone elses PC right now to make your well thought out comments. But if you do actually have a home and a car, how would you say that yours are better cared for then someones cabin left unattended? When you leave your home and someone breaks in, do you just chalk that off as "Oh well, I left it unattended and therefore it's my own fault someone stole my things."? You're and opportunist and a moron :)
Being an opportunist does not equal being intelligent. You won't see what comes up from behind you because someone else will use that opportunity to get back at you.
You're right. They can spend it however they want. And then when they leave it sitting unattended, I can take it. If you have so much crap lying around that you can't keep an eye on it all, you don't need it.
If you come around my place thinking you can take my belongings because I am not there, I will find you and shoot your sorry, punk ass! I am currently dealing with a piece of @!$%# scumbag such as you. He apparently thought the same way you do and decided to break into my house and steal my firearms while I was at work one day about a month ago. I am certain of who did it, as I have lots of circumstantial evidence so far, but I am waiting until I get the hard evidence needed by the courts for conviction. As far as I am concerned, there is a race going on between me and the cops to see who gets him first. He was willing to put himself in great danger and risk his life when he decided to break into my house and steal my stuff, and I am willing to oblige him!
As a matter of fact, you don't happen to live in Georgia do you? Maybe you are the walking target that I am in the process of tracking down. If so, consider this your warning. Oh, and by the way, the cops have the video I made of you smoking something in your little crack pipe multiple times!
I think each of those cabin owners needs to setup booby traps with a shotgun, loaded with 00 buck-shot (for a LARGE hole) pointed at each window and door, with hair triggers so there is no chance of one not going off. Then, when they come for their next visit, they might have a little more clean-up to do (once again) but it will be the last time they have to clean up a mess caused by this POS!
Wow Chris, maybe instead of buying all those guns you should have bought yourself some reading comprehension skills (do you know what that means?) Where in my comment did I come off as a thief or someone who stole your guns? I don't live in Ga, and I didn't rob you of your precious guns Chris. You just went from a ranting fool on here to a complete moron with a short fuse. Threatening someone thru an online comment section, come now :)
I love people like chris who are jealous of the rich cuz there fat lazy losers who can’t make their own money....."Contentment is the evil of all success" your obviously content with your worthless life so that’s why you’re not successful and complain about people who are!
You're right. They can spend it however they want. And then when they leave it sitting unattended, I can take it. If you have so much crap lying around that you can't keep an eye on it all, you don't need it.
So, Chris, you admit that you're a scum-sucking, dishonest, unethical thief. Loopk forward to hearing you're in the slammer because you got caught.
On the other hand you could just be a troll. I'm guessing troll.
I just got real confused Step in What posted something about Chris and Wexy says something about Chris. I think it was Step in What that actually threating Chris and not Wexy. I hope.
BikerBoy - You are correct. My comment was directed towards Chris and his stupid comments, although I don't think of it as a "threat" so much as a warning of the consequences of taking the actions that Chris was "justifying". Wexy had a previous comment that I actually agreed with (#13.13) and my comment didn't reference his/hers in any way, shape or form. Wexy's comment confused me at first also. I had to re-read the string of comments to get clarity.
What is really funny is that Wexy made a smart-ass comment about reading comprehension skills, and then proceeded to demonstrate a complete lack of an reading comprehension skills.
Wow Chris, maybe instead of buying all those guns you should have bought yourself some reading comprehension skills (do you know what that means?)
I believe Wexy is the only one confused on this thread, as he/she demonstrated with his/her follow-up comment to yours (#13.24)...
Your attempt and being smart was a huge fail. My guess here is that you are either related to Chris, or him under a new identity since he has not chimed back in here. Better luck next time there buddy.
Let me clarify something here. When I read the comment that was started by Step in what??!?!! It looked like it was coming from Chrisin reply to my comment towards him. So I apologize, the comment string got pretty long.
And Bikeboy, if you read your comment it looks like you're just full of nonsense because you didn't separate Step in what's name at all.
Wexy - I'm not following your login at all in comment #13.26 and I don't really feel a need for you to further explain it. I'm just going to ignore it, other than to say maybe I hit pretty close to home (so to speak) with Chris and that is why he has not responded to it. If only I could be so lucky!
As for your follow-up in #13.27, I accept your apology and applaud you for being stand-up about it.
there to lazy to get him, if they want to catch him they need to go out there and start tracking him from his last known location which could take awhile since he's been out there for years, they are just lookin to get lucky and come across him
He may not be such a bad guy. These homes are in areas that are shut down for the winter--no access, which is why they have left their things in them. Some of these people may be rich, but a lot of people who have vacation cabins are very hard working people. I do work for people like these and they are teachers, electricians, factory workers, bookkeepers, and farmers. Usually, this is a place that they can get away and spend time with their children and grandchildren. Personally, I would not like the work and expense needed to have a second home, but it's not anyone's place to judge how these people choose to spend their money.
Dolores, how can you say he may not be such a bad guy? He is a leach. Breaking and entering into other peoples property and living off their goods does make him a bad guy.
Delores, not a bad guy, really? He took a poop in a pan and shot up some of the cabins!! If he just slept there a helped himself to some food, it would be unacceptable, but not horrific. This guy is dangerous for sure, and likely mentally unstable.
I offer the idea that he posed for the photo. Anyone who has evaded capture this long surely knows about security cameras. He seems to be parading by the camera in all his regalia.
I offer the idea that he posed for the photo. Anyone who has evaded capture this long surely knows about security cameras. He seems to be parading by the camera in all his regalia.
These well-off cabin owners KNOW there's a rough-necked burglar in their stretch of the woods yet they leave their cabins vulnerable and stocked with food and firearms when they leave for the winter. If I were a cop, I wouldn't want to catch up with this guy; he's probably got me out-gunned.
Bob...What makes you think these are "Well-off Cabin Owners"? Did you read more than this one article about the crimes? Have you seen pictures of the cabins that were broke into? Even if there are some nice cabins broken into, would it matter how wealthy the person is who owns it. They were locked up, guns locked up, had security cameras, and possibly even alarms. But none of that matters. The guy destroyed things that belonged to others. He shot some of them up and crapped all over the place. Cops believe he's dangerous based on that and the notes he's left. He needs to be caught.
you should stay out of my house then!!! we have her living here, momentarily. she is 22, maybe 110 pounds and about 5' 8" tall! This girl could stand sideways, stick out her tongue and look like a zipper!!!
Reminds me of Claude Dallas, the self proclaimed mountain man that murdered two Game Wardens who approached him in his camp while investigating poaching activity.
Dallas thought he was too smart to be captured but the "mountain man" was taken down by the FBI without incident as he exited a convienence store. There was much speculation that locals were helping Dallas elude law enforcement.
This guy is no folk hero. He is someone that will come face to face with innocent people and will kill or be killed trying to maintain his freedom. I hope he is captured before some family meets with doom because of this common criminal.
Your right he is no folk hero & shouldn't be made into one. He has even committed crimes However, why do you assume he will kill people since he has not harm anyone physically as to date.
DKJ4- I don't know about you, but if I found someone had broke into my house and is in possession of weapons, be they a knife or firearms, somebody is leaving in a body bag and it won't be me or any of my family.
DKJ-4: He's shot up cabins and pooped on a cabin floor plus has left threatening notes to 'get off his mountain'...I'd say all of these acts are violent and threatening. He's probably paranoid and such a man loaded with weapons could easily kill any property owner he happens to run into so that he can't be identified. IMHO, he's a very dangerous man.
You got that Right.. The average person can't live in the woods and back country, use this as a military exercise and hunt him down with the 2nd, 75th Ranger Regiment out of Fort Lewis..
He probably is an ex military guy. Tired of being treated like crap by us. Whitney Houston gets half staff but we still haven't even had a parade for our military folks that just came back from a war based on lies. No wonder people snap. I would too if I could. Remember the una bomber??? It took them a LONG TIME TO FIND HIM. Who knows though. We are all just speculating about this guy. He is obviously a survivalist. 5 years in freezing cold is not an easy life.
There's no excuse for stealing, and this guy is definitely guilty of breaking and entering, destruction of property, etc. He's no rural hero; he's just a somewhat more inventive thief than your average B&E perpetrator. No real story, there, in other words.
Now, you can argue whether or not the homeowners have been stupid in leaving food, alcohol and valuable items behind when they lock up their cabins for the winter, but it cannot be disputed that the homeowners have been INCREDIBLY negligent with their firearms. Where were they? In some decorative display case, visible at first glance when someone walks in the room, to show them off? Weapons need to be not only locked up securely but out of sight. If you're going to leave them unattended for a long period of time, in particular.
That's a terrific idea! Maybe even leave behind some tained alcohol and coffee. He will think twice before breaking and entering again, especially if he spends a day or two curled up in a ball from stomach pain, and crapping his guts out. ha ha ha, I think the cabin owners should REALLY consider doing this before leaving for the winter next season. I know I am going to winterize my cabin in a different way next season!!! That will give him a reason to deficate in a pan on the floor, and all the way down the road and into the woods, and in his tent, etc., etc.,
You have to be carefull when leaving traps like this. Somebody's kid might get into it. At least make it so they will be far from your cabin when the intended effects hit.
Maybe it is his mountain. Has anybody checked the property office?
What's he doing that's any different from what illegal aliens are doing? Why aren't they going to offer him amnesty?
Because they provide illegal votes!
Why do stupid people comment on stories without reading the article?
Cause Max is bored.
On a positive note....... He is getting the folks in Utah to exercize their 2nd Amendment rights...... :)
Someones been eating my porridge............and someones been sleeping in my bed!!!
Is there a reward for this pseudo-mountain-man? Might be worth spending a few weeks of an unemployed person's time.
Road Warrior-252445
Who said anything about sympathizing with the crook? So if we have a problem with big government and them taking sides with the corporations, that makes us "Occupiers"?
No wonder, nothing ever gets done in this country, there's way too much division.
Typical police jargon - "we have no idea who he is but we know he is dangerous."
Hey police, if you are really serious about catching this guy pretend he shot at another policeman. That way you could drop everything else and spend 100% of your time and resources on catching him.
the thinker-318752 - Spot on!
StMiller....
This is where a shotgun loaded with rock salt comes in handy :)
Yeah, let's cheer him on. Are you kidding me?!
Leave him a GIFT CARD, be done with it ..........
COmommy,
Well, when he does come across someone who is home. I hope they're armed so this guy gets a proper welcome when he comes through the door!
The cops try to make him out to be armed and dangerous so some violent, macho man cop can shoot him on site and then be hailed as a hero. He might just be sick of all the govt. bullsh1t and police state and hater bigots. I guess in this country being not "normal" is a crime.
He doesn't own the mountain... I Do!
StMiller, your people should arm themselves and they wouldn't have to fear or wait for cops to show up.
D Dirty dog - Normally I would say true...but my dad is old and shaky! :)
Max read the whole story next time.
Now... who's afraid of a police state...?
LMAO...! Police state.... OMG .... ROTFLMAO...!!!
Doesn't anyone remember Rambo?
Sandtrich What proof do YOU have that those guns were bought. Maybe from the fast and furious crowd. Like all those NRAers say, criminals will get guns anyway they can. An American citizen has the right to own weapons to protect themselves from individuals like this. If you are a felon or have a mental disability you have given up your rights to carry a weapon. I guess you have heard this all before. Until Obama and Clinton takes away our rights to have guns any legal citizen that wants a weapon have the right to buy one. YOU don't have to.
BTW It is the 1776 mental society
Hey realitycheck,
Maybe he is former special forces and got sick of society. Probably being former SF is maybe why they can't catch him. I mean it does sound kinda plausible. After all the guy has evaded them all this time and they have all kinds of surveillance and thermal equipment.
Stoned:
I mean, feel free to lump one state all together, that sounds like what a stoned redneck hillbilly/hippy would do.
el jefe:
DD did get a lot of mileage out of post 1.42. I hope he got a little rest after his rant.
Rest?
Rant?
Restaurant?................. That's a joke son!
He isn't specifically looking for religious people's homes. But the cops think that by interjecting that point that they might be able to elevate this to a hate crime.
The cops know the religious homes have been vandalized because he may have messed up their religious mormon shrines they all have right inside the front door.
Religious Mormon shrines? Such as what, photos of the Osmonds?
Is he acting out the movie The Hunted with Benicio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones? What a lunatic.
If I was in charge, I'd send in Sheriff Teasle or Colonel Trautman...they can handle the situation.
@Blake,
I was thinking maybe "Jeremiah Johnson" ...
It's over Johnny.............NOTHING IS OVER!!!!!!..................
I'm wif you on that Justme....Besides Johnson built his own fricking cabin anyway...Wif that kid he called Boy....
Holy sh!t I love that movie....!!!!
don't worry, the insurance companies are pissed.
We like these kinds of Folk Heroes ...
Who is, "we"?
Hero? What kind of drugs are you on?
If he left the cabins the way he found them, wouldn't steal stuff and wouldn't leave trash in the forest then MAYBE we might think it's kooky but not dangerous. This guy shoots up the cabins, loots them and then leaves trash behind in the forest. Not cool.
And so you probably called the "Barefoot Bandit" a Folk Hero too?
This would make a great movie.
Folk hero? "We like these kind of folk heroes"? Really? Look, he isn't robbing the rich and feeding the poor, he's a burglar and a vandal. Period. A common criminal.
You have a strange choice in "Heros".
exotix
I bet you wouldn't have said that if he was Mexican
No, I would say this dude is an uncommon criminal. If he @!$%# in my cabin and shot it up I'd be pissed. It's easy to take things from people who are miles and miles away, he's just another @!$%#head who can't make in the real world and steals to get by, he is not a hero, he is a cowered and a thief!!
I agree. The people this guy pisses of, well, I don't mind them being pissed off.
The story said he was seen twice. Nobody got shot.....
gotta wonder if 5 years of paying police and FBI to hunt him is cost effective.
They said they trailers...Never seen a million dollar trailer.
One other thing, I don't think they really know if it's one person or different people working separately.
Tritam, there are 2 million dollar motor homes, though.
Larry- That's what I was wondering. If some are left in good shape, and others are badly damaged, it's probably more than one person out there.
The guy has expensive taste going after these high-end cabins
My bet is when he goes into a modest cabin he only takes what he needs and does little damage. When he breaking into a million dollar place, he rips it up. He is just a job creator. Just think of how many Service-Pro people have to be hired to clean up the messes he leaves behind. Then there is all the home repair guys, interior decorators and security consultants etc et etc.
Uhh... Relevance?
I found some similarities between you and that other guy, both are pissed about other people possesions??? Uhmmmm!
Moron.
How do they know if it is not a bear. Bears were pissed off when goldilocks broke into their cabin. Now turn about is fair play.
trailer park boys rule! ricky, jullian and bubbles!
they will send some drones no doubt .
Uncle Thadeus!!!! We wondered where you got off to...
"I hope this guy continues to evade the police and... I dont condone the illegal activities,"
No comment needed....
"...Marine Corps K-Bar by the type of sheath extending from under the coat....He could be an Iraq era Veteran..."
Lotta supposing. The USMC has not issued leather sheaths since 1995.
Jealous much Cygnus?
Hey Dummy, where in the article did it say he was a liberal ? Were you homeschooled ?
eddie s-802886 : If he stole their car and didn't commit vehicluar manslaughter, should the rich be banned from owning cars too?
Did you read the article???
@Browns Backer
Eddie's just jealous because under the federal requirements, he's not legally entitled to a firearm...:(
They should leave just one gun behind. The shotgun boobie trapped to the front door.
Eddie you moron. I am going to steal your car and run over some people. Will that make you irresponsible? There always has to be some hidden message in these stories for a bunch of idiots to find for us. It can't just be that some guy is breaking into cabins!
Strength in numbers-and I quote your post-
"I say, good on this fella, as long as he ISN'T a man with a low moral code (capable of harming a child or unarmed person, or otherwise burglaring from the poor)."
Cygnus @ 6.1 says
Soooo, you don't condone illegal activities .... that is, ..... unless you condone them. Sounds reasonable to me.
StrengthInNumbers,
Are you suffering from a malignant brain tumor?
Strengthinnumbers said:
Also, who says these people are rich? They might be regular middle class that have a cabin that they enjoy going to. You bastards sicken me
Eddie, please leave your address on here and we'll all come riddle your house with bullets, trash the inside, break open any safes you might have, eat your food, drink your booze and crap on your floor.
Must be, otherwise you, like the guy living in the mountains, may have some serious mental issues.
eddie s,
Let me line up my sons so you can kiss their Liberal backsides, all three are Military, Army and Marine, so while you sit behind your computer spewing ignorance just remember you get to do that because my Liberal boys risk all to let you.
Like to stir the pot Eddie?
I leave my guns at home when I go on vacation as I couldn't possibly take them all with me. Is that irresponsible? They are locked in a safe as was one case referred to in the story. The nut job pried open the door.
You have issues and I advise you to seek mental help.
why keep repeating that he is a mormon? would you keep repeating if he were a jew, or some other faith!
Probably. As long as he was of a faith other than the reporter.
@Where's Waldo
Thank God the government is NOT allowed to do that. Now on the other hand, if some of these fellows wanted to volunteer their time supporting local law enforcementefforts to track this nutcase down I think we could all get behind that.
Easy boys, easy. Just a little tongue and cheek.......
Really, all the Feds need to do is declare him a terrorist and they can send in the military hit squads....LOL
Okay, was that sarcasm?
Crazy people can maintain gainful employment, look at Michelle Bachmann. OKAY, Bad example....lol
Who cares? He hasn't harmed anyone. Why waste the time, energy and money.
PSYCHIATRIST WANNABES NOT WITHSTANDING.
Leave him alone.
I suppose that if you came home and your house was wrecked, goods stolen, and a pile of poop in the middle of the floor, you would just clean it up, and not call the police? Correct?
Pictures or it didn't happen.
Pictures of poop don't exactly make great headlines. Not to mention the fact that photos of crime scenes are commonly called evidence, and are not published. Or I guess you would want pictures of your defaced home plastered on the internet?
Correction. He hasn't harmed anyone yet. Based on the article he doesn't seem like the stablest guy around, and he's apparently heavily armed.
What happens if he breaks into a cabin and someone's home?
Perhaps he should visit your home, and do the same things. Then tell us how much of a "hero" he is.
You're the one mentally challenged, Chris. It takes very little to set you off.
@Chris-629698
I smell someone who sops up the liberal drivel and rhetoric and then attempts to regurgitate it on the rest of us as if we're all stupid enough to believe it.
hey chris....
this guy is not really living off the land..per say.....he makes a comfy living stealing from others......he does not work.....he does not contribute to anything....he cares only about his own well being......he takes his lame a$$ self to a place where he finds food and shelter and craps on the floor, then destroys the place.....what a POS a true survivalist would not need to do these things.....this guy is just a wanna be , low life jerk......who if i caught the SOB in my cabin.......well lets just say he is gonna be occupying a location that only me and him know about and he won't be talking.......for sure,...... open minded my a$$. this cretin deserves no sympathy if caught.....
Hmmmmm, Possiblyyyyyy.........
so gbaby,
i'm pretty sure if it was your cabin he broke into, tore the place up, stole your property, and you had to clean the sh#t up off the floor you would still think that it was karmic justice?
Apparently there isn't much crime in that part of the country if this is consuming law enforcement time. Next we'll be hearing about the felony speeders they have on their roads.
It's Utah. Crime rarely occurs where there are no people.
Chris They should make a mini-series about this Dexter looking dude. Oh, wait a minute they have.
I hope he breaks his leg, where there is no help. He is a parasite and a thief.
Chris-629698: It's none of your business how people spend their money.
Maybe chris-629698 IS the mountain man.
Hey, you know what they say, God helps those who help themselves, might makes right, blah blah blah etc. etc.
If they're so worried about their stuff they leave in the mountains unattended for months, perhaps they should defend it better.
Chris,
I bet your in your late 20's to early 30's with a pony tail?? Right??
What an idiot statement, Chris. Why don't you leave America?
may be if we treated like we were looking for bin laden...bomb the hell out of it spend billions kill hundreds of thousand... then attacked the neighboring states...our government needs to get more involved...
Being an opportunist works so much better when other people still play by the rules.
Being an opportunist does not equal being intelligent. You won't see what comes up from behind you because someone else will use that opportunity to get back at you.
Then, when they come for their next visit, they might have a little more clean-up to do (once again) but it will be the last time they have to clean up a mess caused by this POS!
peopl......er, idiots like Chris show what this country has spiraled Down to !
So, Chris, you admit that you're a scum-sucking, dishonest, unethical thief. Loopk forward to hearing you're in the slammer because you got caught.
On the other hand you could just be a troll. I'm guessing troll.
Just looked at some of your postings on other threads, Chris.
Yup, big-time troll. We can all ignore him.
I just got real confused Step in What posted something about Chris and Wexy says something about Chris. I think it was Step in What that actually threating Chris and not Wexy. I hope.
Huh?
I believe Wexy is the only one confused on this thread, as he/she demonstrated with his/her follow-up comment to yours (#13.24)...
I guess it's true...you can't fix STUPID!
That was supposed to say "not following your logic..."
The damn "save changes" button has done nothing but blink at me when I click it for a while now.
there to lazy to get him, if they want to catch him they need to go out there and start tracking him from his last known location which could take awhile since he's been out there for years, they are just lookin to get lucky and come across him
I wonder if Hayduke had a son... besides his guns, does this guy carry a Monkeywrench around with him ?
That comment is probably lost on the majority of this readership
it sure is lost on me.....
and not a billboard in sight.
Hayduke lives on! for the confused read The Monkey Wrench Gang.
Get a life.
Delores, not a bad guy, really? He took a poop in a pan and shot up some of the cabins!! If he just slept there a helped himself to some food, it would be unacceptable, but not horrific. This guy is dangerous for sure, and likely mentally unstable.
I hope they never catch him. As long as he's not causing bodily harm, then he's an irritation at most.
He's stealing and destroying property that does not belong to him. Is that ok with you? If so, please post your address and we'll be right over.
If you attack my property, then you are attacking me and will be dealt with accordingly!
Yes, stealing things just isn't doing anything wrong. We can just steal everything we want and nobody would go after us. So obvious
I offer the idea that he posed for the photo. Anyone who has evaded capture this long surely knows about security cameras. He seems to be parading by the camera in all his regalia.
Security cameras can be quite small you know. I think that's giving him a bit too much credit.
I offer the idea that he posed for the photo. Anyone who has evaded capture this long surely knows about security cameras. He seems to be parading by the camera in all his regalia.
He could be MORMON ? Is he ROMNEY in disguise or a Brother of ROMPNEY ???
Sounds like the same wacko to me !!!!
You obviously are an idiot.....go back under the bridge.
Why can't people keep food and vulnerable in THEIR OWN HOME?! STOP, STOP, STOP blaming the victim!!!
@Snookums
Calm down now, go have a drink of water, play your Xbox or Wii and let the grownups talk.
"Grownups"? I think you meant backward thinking morons.
Clearly, you are sixteen years old, Chris.
Wow, I got you so butthurt that you're responding to me on posts where I didn't even reply? I'm beginning to enjoy this.
@Chris-629698 -- Ha! You're right! It read like a comment from you. It must be your twin.
So Bob, you can't keep stuff in your own cabin. Amazing thinking and Chuck, by grownups do you mean morons?
Soon to be on the endangered species list, if not already. This guy should be protected.
"Hey, I spotted the extremely rare thin American today"!!!
Think he's single?
check out all the skinny people ...must be on that strict meth diet...the single tweeker...
you should stay out of my house then!!! we have her living here, momentarily. she is 22, maybe 110 pounds and about 5' 8" tall!
I hope he keeps on keeping on what a nice legend " The Mystery Of The Man In The Mountains" lol
Long live the memories of Idaho Game Wardens Conley Elms and Bill Pogue.
Army Rangers will be able to find him.
You got that Right.. The average person can't live in the woods and back country, use this as a military exercise and hunt him down with the 2nd, 75th Ranger Regiment out of Fort Lewis..
They don't really have a great track record of finding lone, armed guys who are hiding out in mountains, you know?
He probably is an ex military guy. Tired of being treated like crap by us. Whitney Houston gets half staff but we still haven't even had a parade for our military folks that just came back from a war based on lies. No wonder people snap. I would too if I could. Remember the una bomber??? It took them a LONG TIME TO FIND HIM. Who knows though. We are all just speculating about this guy. He is obviously a survivalist. 5 years in freezing cold is not an easy life.
He is probably just a nice guy living off stupid rich people who leave stockpiles of weapons lying around in the woods.
Peter: Hope you are being sarcastic!
If you're going to leave them unattended for a long period of time, in particular.
may the cabin owners need to leave him some ex-lax coated candy bars...make him easy to trail in the snow...
