Slavery ended in 1865. The US was founded in 1776, but was not an independent country until 1781 or so. So slavery existed in the US for roughly 85 years, not 200.

They are almost all situated in the 3 southern provinces and amount to less than 5% of the Thai population, which is virtually all Theravadan Buddhist.
