So Thankful this bastard is DEAD! ':.....He had also recently linked to a document praising al-Awlaki martyrdom and to a message urging Muslims to rejoice'' "in this time when you see the mujahideen all over the world victorious."
It is becoming very obvious that Islam and it's teaching inspires death and destruction very obvious that those who are the good and devout followers are also the most twisted devious and MURDEROUS BASTARDS on the planet, all while chanting allah akabar! The terrorists are the TRUE MUSLIMS following the teaching of the illiterate pedophile prophet.
Islam is a funny "religion". Actually I think it's more of a political vehicle than a religion. It's used in an area of the world where might makes right. From what I've seen you can rationalize any behavior with it. You just have to proclaim that you did it in the name of Allah or Mo.
I am a Christian & I am certainly not proud of what people have done in the name of Christianity over the years...if granades and bombs had been available, we would have seen them used along with crucifixions, burning of witches, stonings and the like
the Muslim religion is being hijacked as an excuse for power hungry individuals lacking the ability to manifest without violence
we continue to repeat history because we fail to understand it & until we do understand what motivates people to act this way, we shall be caught in this loop of "might is right"
not sure why some humans must attack to make themselves heard...but it does seem we have made little progress in this world...we just keep taking turns at leading the carnage in our efforts to subjugate others
we are inventive too....look at some of the cults that pass out poison in the name of religion...
to me this is very sick stuff...I hope we find the root of the problem before humans join the list of animals facing extinction
Why he joined? I don't think one can explain personal motivation. Like all of us we join because we see something we like. I wonder why this question is asked? Is it bad to join al Qaida? It's a matter of perspective. Why do people join the Masons?
Sylvia-4139336''I am a Christian'' and do you think Islam is like your religion? Love and peace for your fellow man? If you do you need to wake up Islam is not like 21st century christianity but look back about 1200years and you might see some similarity, good luck .
MOSinEUR wrote: "Nanette, what freedoms did we lose?"
In no particular order, let's start with
1: Freedom of speech (try saying something that someone might construe as threatening to any elected official). First Amendment
2: Freedom from unreasonable search and seizure - try boarding a plane or train with nail clippers, scissors, or, heaven forbid, trying to check a firearm in your locked baggage in New York. Fourth Amendment
3: Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Second Amendment
4: Right to a speedy trial - Obama can now detain a US citizen indefinitely without charges by declaring someone a suspected terrorist. Sixth Amendment
5: Right to confront witnesses (as soon as the "witnesses" are classified documents, you're screwed). Sixth Amendment
How's that for starters?
And from the rhetorical question department, if you don't know your rights, how will you know when they've been taken away?
Oldgaffer is SPOT on in their reply. Our liberty was eviscerated by the Patriot Act and further eroded by the NDAA. All in the name of safety tyrants and despots have usurped liberty, and the people BELIEVED THEM! The only other lie equal to that is that wealth trickles down. It seems that sodium fluoride in the water really does have an impact!
"3: Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Second Amendment"
Oh really? Since when did we lose that right? Sencond amenders are continually using that argument to keep their "God given" right to bear arms. Witness the nuts demanding to carry arms (loaded or otherwise) in public because they have a psychological "need" to feel safe. Unfortuantely, the second amendment as well as firearms are still here.
That amendment was included in a time when there was no standing army so people had a very real need to keep and bear arms. Not today.
Thank you for your honest view of history. What a refreshing breeze after listening to the right-wing revisionist history for the past umpteen years.
Islam is 'exactly' where Christianity was 400-500 years ago, and you are correct: had they bombs, grenades, etc., Christians surely would have used them. Most Christians have 'grown up', so to say, and embraced a moderate (albeit scripturally questionable) stance on their faith. I would still argue its danger, as witnessed in this GOP nomination process. Without saying "Jesus" X times a day, or evoking God continuously, no GOP candidate has a shot at election. In short, the right would completely discredit the likes of Lincoln, Adams, Jefferson, etc. due to their anti-Christian and pro-Deism (in Lincoln's case, probable agnostic) stance.
Unless religion as a WHOLE grows up, and quickly, I fear for the future.
The hijacking of Islam is rather a moot point: what is there to hijack?
Islam, like all the Abrahamic faiths (and most of the rest), has tenets in it that can be used to support just about any position in most situations. Love thy neighbor? What about kill the infidel? Treat others as you would have them treat you? What about execute those who do not obey authority? It's in the big 2, Christianity and Islam.
Religion is a vehicle, somewhat, through which to channel emotion. Don't like what the other guy is saying? Claim God, Yahweh, Allah, who-the-@!$%#-ever is on your side. You get instant cred from the religious wackos, boom, you have a base. Some will speak against you claiming that whatever is on their side, and you're wrong. The funny thing (to an atheist like me, at least), is that you both have points in terms of who god would support, as far as your holy books are concerned. Which, to me and many other skeptics/rationalists, indicates that your holy books are full of @!$%# and should be dealt with appropriately (fertilizer).
1: Freedom of speech (try saying something that someone might construe as threatening to any elected official). First Amendment..."might construe?" Really? I think that English is easy to understand and if you voice a threat of violence against any official, YOU SHOULD BE IN JAIL. We have a system where the majority can vote a person into office and if you don't like the person, then you can run against them. BUT YOU CAN NOT THREATEN ANYONE! NO CHANGE!
2: Freedom from unreasonable search and seizure - try boarding a plane or train with nail clippers, scissors, or, heaven forbid, trying to check a firearm in your locked baggage in New York. Fourth Amendment...being searched prior to boarding is reasonable because YOU CHOOSE to fly. Flying is not a right, interstate travel is a right. You can do it by car. Boats leave the country everyday, but I am very happy that passengers end up being searched as I like to arrive alive at my destination and it seems that every nut in the world likes to try and blow up, crash or hijack planes. So Really, is getting searched "unreasonable"? Really? Too MUCH FOR YOU? Flying to New York with a checked fire arm? Not sure, but that sounds like a States Rights issue and I am sure that you have the FREEDOM not to fly though New York.
3: Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Second Amendment ...come to Colorado and tell me that I can not buy firearms. You will be greatly surprised.
4: Right to a speedy trial - Obama can now detain a US citizen indefinitely without charges by declaring someone a suspected terrorist. Sixth Amendment...I am not a terrorist, so I really don't worry too much about this, BUT again, what do you call "speedy"? And do you know of anyone this has happened to?
5: Right to confront witnesses (as soon as the "witnesses" are classified documents, you're screwed). Sixth Amendment How's that for starters? And from the rhetorical question department, if you don't know your rights, how will you know when they've been taken away?..... Actually, if the Government will not release the classified information, then it can not be used against you in court. NOPE you are dead wrong in this case.
The problem isn't with the people themselves. Muslims are great people and fine neighbors. The problemis with the doctrine of Islam. Most Muslims, like most Christians, and most Jews, are holiday and prayer worshipers. They don't know the true tenets of their own religion. They enjoy the traditions, gatherings and the holidays.
Of all the worlds religions, Islam has the most explicit call to take arms and unilaterally subjugate, kill, or supress your unbelieving neighbor. Al Queda are Islamists who read these imperatives, and see their path as the only option, if the are to truely follow the word of Allah.
It is a tragedy for this family. Even success, incorporation, friendship, and citizenship is not a distraction for the "true believer" of Islam.
That's the problem. Religions, in general, are not at fault. It's the people who think that they know God's will that are the problem. People throw out the tired argument that religion is responsible for millions and millions of deaths. That's the lazy thinking. The religion didn't kill a soul. It was Man that did the killing. Be wary of those that profess to know God's will.
It appears that you don't know about your own Religion, if you don't realize that God, JHVH, and Allah are one and the same Being. Since they're all Abrahamic religions, they by definition share the same Supreme Being.
Since you don't seem to know that little fact, it throws the rest of your statements into doubt.
We hear this term often. I wonder if most people know it's origin ?
The expression 'Abrahamic religions' originates from the Qur'an's repeated references to the 'religion of Abraham'
So the claim, is one based only on Islamic theology, and others are required, to submit to the assertion.
I do not subscribe to Islamic theology,is there any reason for me to "submit" to this claim?
No
There is in fact, no reason for me to believe it.
Other than the ever present threat of violence, directed at those who do not "submit"
Islam is the religion of submission.Violence since it's inception, has been used as the instrument to gain said submission.
(see Surahs 2:130,135; 3:95; 6:123,161; 12:38; 16:123; 22:78). In particular, this expression refers specifically to Islam, and is sometimes contrasted to Judaism and Christianity, as for example in Surah 2:135: "They say: "Become Jews or Christians if ye would be guided (To salvation)." Say thou: "Nay! (I would rather) the Religion of Abraham the True, and he joined not gods with God." In the Qur'an, Abraham is declared to have been a Muslim, 'not a Jew nor a Christian' (Surah 3:67).
That is a big claim there. (unsupported) in any independent source. The dogma of Islam, claims Jesus as a Muslim as well, do you believe that ?
(ps) "allah" is the black stone of the Kaaba, and still is an object of worship.
Please source Jews or Christians worshiping a rock as a "deity"
People throw out the tired argument that religion is responsible for millions and millions of deaths. That's the lazy thinking. The religion didn't kill a soul. It was Man that did the killing.
Sven, religions don't physically kill, no, but when they exhort believers to kill in their name then they are the source of the killing. Such is the case all too often in Islam which is chock full of violent contempt for non-believers (non-Muslims) with very few counter-passages of tolerance. especially tolerance for non-believers.
Well-ll, not exactly. A few centuries ago the Christians went on a mad crusade that slaughtered thousands upon thousands of unbelievers throughout the Middleast. We still love to sing that rousing hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic in church, so I'm not sure how much we've evolved since then. Sometimes we don't have to shoot. We send in the missionaries, and bidda boom, a whole culture is subsumed as in the case of present day Native Americans.
Jan-644445: You do realise that the Christian Crusades were in response of Muslims attacking Christian Lands right or did you miss that part of History.
Well-ll, not exactly. A few centuries ago the Christians went on a mad crusade that slaughtered thousands upon thousands of unbelievers throughout the Middleast
You do know the Muslims, on a jihad, had invaded Europe (Spain and the Byzantine Empire) killing and enslaving it's population, hundreds of years before Christians responded with the first crusade.Don't you ?
Religions, in general, are not at fault. It's the people who think that they know God's will that are the problem.
Unfortunately, religion is the CAUSE of people who think they know God's will... remove the cause, and the symptoms will vanish. That's not going to happen any time soon, but eventually... who knows. Either religion as a whole will become so watered down that only a few crackpots practice what, today, we call "mainstream faith", or we'll do what the savvier of the Greeks did: abandon it altogether.
You do know the Muslims, on a jihad, had invaded Europe (Spain and the Byzantine Empire) killing and enslaving it's population, hundreds of years before Christians responded with the first crusade.Don't you ?
Not just Spain. Using that portion of Spain that they had invaded and conquered by force, they then invaded present-day France too until they were finally defeated by indigenous Gauls not far from present-day Paris, at the Battle of Tours in 732 C.E.
Later on, in 1529, Islamic armies under command of the Ottoman empire laid siege to Vienna in east central Europe where they were finally defeated and turned back to the Balkans from where they had invaded originally, and then north from there. Bitterness still remains from the Islamic occupation and exploitation of the indigenous Slavs in the Balkans who were brutally suppressed for centuries under Ottoman rule.
Correction: 1529 was the FIRST Islamic assault on Vienna. They weren't finally and decisively turned back until 1683. It was this last battle that was known as the Siege of Vienna. This link has more details:
Osama Bin Laden was a multi millionaire from a family worth billions and went to private schools and the best Universities. All of the 9/11 hi jackers were from wealthly Saudi or Egyptian families. But we are surprised when someone raised with American money turns terrorist?
Well, a lot of naive people in America and the west continue to believe that poverty causes religious terrorism. To the extent this article addresses and debunks that wishful thinking then it is helpful. Religion creates religious terrorism.
46 cases of home grown terrorism in 11 years...
and we have spent trillions of dollars trying to prevent sick religious nuts from harming society in general - in the meantime hundreds of thousands die prematurely every year because they can't afford proper medical care... what a perversion of priorities!
Mos... Let me worry about my own safety. Government wasting trillions of dollars on stupid wars and other asinine project aimed at keeping me safe are nothing more than a SCAM. It is like paying $3000 per year to insure a car worth $2000. It is a total waste of money. An average American is at least 1000 times more likely to die prematurely due to lack of medical insurance than by a terrorist act.
Well Gene, I suppose we are all a bit of a Troll from time to time. Perhaps you are a Troll as well, or do you have an answer / thought on if fighting terrorists is worth the money or not?
Max, I wonder how many family members of 9/11 think that stopping further attacks is worth the money? As far as the car goes, I don't pay so much for the replacement of the car, but the hospital bills that accident tend to produce. Perhaps we are more likely to die from lack of medical insurance because we stop the attacks from killing more. Maybe the next attack will change the odds a bit? What will you say then?
The biggest problems facing Americans have nothing to do with terrorism. As a nation, we are being screwed by banksters and other white collar scam artists, we can't afford medical care, we have no jobs because they were outsourced thanks to crooked politicians, etc.
MOSinEur. Everyone knows that every time an incident involving any aspect of religion comes up on the blog, you show up opining with your thinly veiled animosity towards anyone that some thinks religion is ok, especially when it involves Muslims. You say you're a Christian, yet I've seen at least 50 comments you've made in the last 4 months attacking everything even remotely associated with Judeu-Christian beliefs. I've come to suspect that you are either a muslim living in some Western European nation or a troll yourself just looking to get a controversy going. Same with Moonbeamracer that talks about giving Salam "respect" for having died for a cause. RESPECT???? What friggin planet are you from. Al Qaidi slaughtered over 3000 Americans in NYC and you want us to RESPECT a member of this filthy pack of jackals? What utter nonsense, and it sounds more like the garbage coming from OWS droids. Give it a rest. Salam joined Al Qaida for the same scewed reasons that people join the Aryan Brotherhood, or the Janjaweed, or the Klan, because they HATE. Salam was nothing more than a spoiled brat rich muslim kid that chose a radical way to play out his distorted jihad fantasies that are fueled in Mosques in Detroit, Minnesota, AND Pakistan. He deserved a bullet in the head the moment he took up arms in an organization at war with the USA and it's citizens. MSNBC once more tries to put a human face on a terrorist instead of a monster's face, and it tries to explain away his stupidity by trying to convince us how "American' his family is. How can a family NOT see their son morphing into what he became? BS. Same argument much of Germany used to explain their ignorance NAZI genocide. Some of you also ALWAYS try to turn the blame for terrorist incidents, movements, and conflict to the USA, like the current administration in DC does on occasion. You people are pathetic and don't know the meaning of living in fear like the Pakistanis, Afganis, Yemenis, Iraqis, Egyptians, Israelis, and about a billion people do, not knowing when an animal like Salam will blow THEM up. You really need to get a life or at least an education and stop living in La La Land! LibertyandFreedomLUVR - you summed it up perfectly.
Max, I do not disagree with you about the CRIMES happening on Wall Street and in Congress. I am about as Pro Western and anti corruption as you can get....BUT we can not close our eyes to the problems in the rest of the world BECAUSE we live in this world and there is a huge culture clash going on.
Some people believe that if they destroy the world then some God will show up and give everyone peace in the after life. We Americans are more into Drugs, Sex and Rock and Roll and don't give a damn about Allah AND that pisses them off. Hense, we are the bad guys and they want to kill ALL of us.
As for me, I will do what I can to not let them get their way.
46 cases of home grown terrorism in 11 years...
and we have spent trillions of dollars trying to prevent sick religious nuts from harming society in general
Max, that's 46 cases of "successful" home grown terrorism. Factor in all the twarted plots and all the deaths that didn't happen because they were stopped and yes it is worth it to defeat such attackers. Imagine if you and your family were on the list of victims to be, such as the foiled plot to bomb the Christmas gatherings in downtown Portland OR. Would your cost-benefit analysis (exaggerated as it is) then be so casual and dismissive?
Mos... It is total crap that "they hate us because we don't care about Allah". Read what these terrorists say IN THEIR OWN WORDS to educate yourself about real reasons behind their actions.
They hate US for its foreign policy, blind support for Israel, invading sovereign Muslim countries and meddling in their affairs.
JP, I comment on these blogs because when I see a comment that I disagree with, I can voice an OPINION and in this world it is getting harder and harder to voice an opinion. Unless we want to discuss football? There is a safe topic of discussion...but really not my area.
I DO NOT call myself a Christian. A Christian follows the way of Jesus and that I do not do. I am very thankful for the laws that are based upon those Christian values. If I am critical of Jews, and Moslems, it could be because I am also critical of racists and people that think they are better than others because their religion tells them that they have a special relationship with God. If there is a God, I don't see him as favoring one tribe or genetic code. Do you? Is it ok to be critical of something that seems to be obviously wrong?
As far as respecting terrorists and suicide bombers, do not confuse respect with honoring them. I have met some very dedicated people in my life on both sides of the fight and you better have a healthy dose of respect for these folks. They are motivated and intelligent AND VERY dangerous. Let down your guard and you end up dead like the CIA agents and Air Force people killed by their "Guests".
max, our foreign policy is us not "caring about Allah". Do you need to split the hair or do you just not understand what I am saying? The West allows homosexuals to get married! The West lets women walk on the beaches...naked! The West supports the Jews! The West supports their dictators...ok, we are guilty of that...
But hell, it all comes down to a culture clash and with an inflexible religion at the focal point of the clash, well, we better be aware of the reality.
MOSinEur--I hate to burst your bubble, but even talking football isn't "safe". Try asking the good folks at Notre Dame why their football team hasn't joined a conference. Then be prepared for an absolute avalanche of vitriolic nastiness. They're veeeeery sensitive on the subject. Rabid.
Mos... can you honestly say that invading Iraq and waging war there for 9 years had a positive effect on US citizen security? Can you blame that invasion on a 'culture clash with an inflexible religion'? Dude, this was one of the stupidest and most counterproductive wars US has ever started! We saw the enemy, and it is us... (the US industrial military complex in particular).
Max, you said that the Muslims hate us for our foreign policy. I have a secret to tell you. They even hate us for the financial aid the US government provides them at the American taxpayers expense. Care to calculate it in dollars and cents? Start with Egypt, then Pakistan, then .... Don't go too far. Let's say for the last ten years, right after they murdered almost 3,000 innocent Americans.
( He said no one goes to the father except true me )
The Muslims deny that Jesus is God,
to them (he's just a good man) and mohamed is the way,
So they are of the Antichrist, and his father is Satan
The 3,Mosaic,Abrahamic, whatever you want to call them religions.Judaism,Christianity,Islam (in order of founding),have the same supreme deity called by different names "Yahweh,God,Allah",but its the same god.
The Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet of God.Not just a "good man"
Judaism doesn't accept Jesus at all,as anything to do with God.
So if Islam is the "antichrist" or "Satan" for only thinking Jesus was a prophet. What do you think about Judaism, which denies him completely.
"Max, you said that the Muslims hate us for our foreign policy. I have a secret to tell you. They even hate us for the financial aid the US government provides them at the American taxpayers expense. Care to calculate it in dollars and cents? Start with Egypt, then Pakistan, then .... Don't go too far. Let's say for the last ten years, right after they murdered almost 3,000 innocent Americans."
You do realize that that money isn't disinterested charity, right.Egypt has the largest population in the Arab world, and unstable.Essential to us and Israel. That's why they get that money.Pakistan 180 million people, very unstable, through which we supply our troops in Afghanistan, and they have nuclear weapons, that we need them to not let fall into other hands. That's why they get that money. But even with the money those countries receive,Israel is the country that gets far more money from us than any other. They get at least 30% of all our foreign aid.
"If you go to www.census.gov you will see that in 2008 total American foreign aid was $48, 923 bln. Israel's share was $2,425 bln, Egypt's - $1,492 bln, and Iraq's - $7,506 bln. Thus, your statement that Israel gets 30% of American foreign aid is false."
1.Foreign aid is foreign aid no matter how it is coded to hoodwink Americans,non-direct aid, unpaid loan funds, loan forgiveness, etc, etc.
2. My reasons for the aid to Egypt and Pakistan are correct regardless.
3.You didn't mention Iraq in your first post or I would have commented on that too.But a quick response would be,unless you were in a coma for the last 10 years,I think its obvious why they got the aid.
Here are links and the reports themselves for you:

Section 4 of the Arms Export Control Act prohibits selling military equipment to countries that use them for non-self-defense purposes.
The U.S. State Department determined in February 2001 that Israel has committed each of the acts that the law defines as "gross violations of internationally recognized human rights, including torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment, prolonged detention without charges and trial, causing the disappearance of persons by the abduction and clandestine detention of those persons, and other flagrant denials of the right to life, liberty, or the security of person." Unfortunate for his family, it is obvious they worked hard to remove themselves from the extreme Muslim ideologies. It just goes to prove that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
The problem is that they let him study to be a muslem. He was smart and studied and found out that he was supposed to kill the infidels. This is just like a good Christian following the word of Jesus and doing community service. The Christian believes helping people is the right thing to do and the moslem believes in killing them.
Sylvia, just because you were raised a Christian, doesn't mean you are one. Some religious leader screwing a little kid is no more a Christian that Mohamhead was.
You are known by your actions, not what you call yourself. Christians are not supposed to steal, moslems are supposed to convert or kill non believers.
Who is Mohamhead? Do you mean Muhammed, PBUH? Calling him Mo-ham-head is like saying "praise cheesus". Stop being so derogatory towards a group of people.
The difference is when a Christian oppresses people or kills them in the name of God, they are violating their scriptures. When the Islamist murders the "infidel" they are obeying their scriptures.
The more serious a Christian gets about following Jesus the more like Him they become, which means meakness and lowliness and gentleness and helping others. When so-called Christians act otherwise you can confront them with what their own scriptures say. Bad behavior is a violation in Christianity.
The more serious an Islamist gets about following Muhammad the more like him they become which means deception and oppression and murder of everyone who does not follow Muhammad, which is what is taught in the Koran. They are following their scripture. Bad behavior toward unbelievers is cheered in the Koran, not a violation at all.
It took me two years to read it and I still can not understand it. I have not memorized it, but it is NOT easy to understand like the words of Jesus. Jesus told stories that are easy to understand. I find nothing in the Koran that is easy to follow. OTHER than the preface, which basically says that this is the word of God and it is not subject to debate, but to be followed. THAT says a lot.
MOSinEUR...not sure I'd give up trying to understand this ancient book translated in many different ways...there are numerous similarities to other revered books...
some of which when taken literally are similar to what we do now...strike down our enemies with might...it's a war paradigm...not dissimilar to other war paradigms & protectionist ideologies
In light of the mess US poitics is in with personal power and greed the main motivators,I suspect he was looking for a political climate where there appeared to be more organization and an absence of all the corruptness of US politicians. Unfortunately, he chose the radical aspect of that movement versus a more sane one.
His ego was probably such that he figured with his eduction and brilliance that the Pakistani Al Qaeda peasants would have to recognize this and he would rise in the ranks and possibly become a leader. He couldn't hack it in the US so he thought he'd take the easy path.
The answer is, he found the "love" he wasn't getting from those around him. Basically, he was brainwashed by his handlers to trust them more than his own family. He needs basic cult deprogramming.
All religions are cults in the definition of the word, doesn't mean you bash the religion. Its the extremists of each that you have to worry about, not just islamic extremists
Fence, IF the religion is as extreme, violent and inflexible as Islam is, then yes, you bash the religion.
I used to bash the Moonies as well. The kids in robes begging for coins while the Guru has a dozen Rolls Royces. Yep, some religions need to be bashed.
He joined because he obviously believed in the cause, and gave his life for it: he had a different perspective than you and I, and deserves respect, not condemnation.
Because a human is willing to fight for a cause that is opposed to our own, doesn't make him bad or evil. In our on civil war members of the same families sometimes fought and died in opposing armies because of their viewpoint ....
It's time that we all recognize the power of ideas, again .... our forefathers did , thats why this country exist! They fought against all odds, with a minority of the people of the country supporting them to throw a "yoke" they perceived as tyranny to created a new nation in a image that they constructed ... as radical as it seemed to others.
This is not support for the actions of Radical Islamist, but simply a acceptance of the reality that good people think differently, and are willing to fight & die for different principals ....
Well written and if they are willing to fight & die for their desire to subjugate "free people", then I am willing to help them die as fast as possible.
No matter what his intentions were or were not. What he was doing was wrong in every way, and for that he deserves zero respect. This is a bunch of bull to be honest, it is really easy to recite a bunch of B.S about what or fore fathers would have wanted, but I can tell you one thing. No healthy thinking, moral person whether they are from europe, asia, or america think that it is okay for a person to commit acts of terrorism, killing innocent lives, as long as they are doing it for what they truly believe in. I can tell you what our fore fathers did believe in. A smaller government, that is the whole reason anyone left europe to come here. And here we are a few hundred years later making our government bigger, and bigger... Too bad there isnt another continent left to head for.
He joined because he obviously believed in the cause, and gave his life for it: he had a different perspective than you and I, and deserves respect, not condemnation.
Moonbeam, a lot of Nazis fervently believed in and died for Hitler and white supremacism. Just another "different perspective," kind of like joining the Masons or the Sierra Club, right? Gotta deeply respect Nazis too, right?
I believe this type of thing is going to get worse before it gets better, as they say.
We need to protect ourselves from these global terrorists, home grown or otherwise. We are at war, that's a fact, not a falacy. We need to close the borders if we want to prevent these terrorists from entering our country freely. As to what to do about these 'home grown' individuals, I'm sure I don't know, but just handling them on a case by case basis would be a start?
The guy at Fort Hood who killed 13 soldiers should have been executed by now, but instead his 'rights' are being protected even though he violated, big time, the rights of those he killed. If we handle all terrorists like this they will continue to bring their beliefs and terrorist acts upon us and hide behind our Constitution which they hate.
Toughness is all they respect, so we should stand tough. It was once said that "We have met the enemy and he is us!"
Maj Hassan was left paraplegic from wounds he received by responders to the attack. He remains incarcerated and awaiting trial. While I understand your feelings, one of our greatest strengths against the type of absolutism promoted by Islamic fundamentalism is our insistence on equal justice under the law for everyone, however heinous their acts. In fact, that is one of the many aspects of our culture the terrorists fear most. To deny Hassan his day in court would diminish us more than it would punish him. I would much rather see him receive due process, be convicted in a military court, and spend the rest of his miserable life in prison, a pathetic and forgotten "martyr" to murder.
Gapster: We need to close the borders if we want to prevent these terrorists from entering our country freely.
If we do so, we'll be wishing for the good old days of the recession of 2008
The guy at Fort Hood who killed 13 soldiers should have been executed by now, but instead his 'rights' are being protected even though he violated, big time, the rights of those he killed.
All criminals violate the rights of their victims. So, we should violate the constitution for just the criminals you choose?
Sven, reading would lead to education and who knows, maybe we would get less trolls?
Not to many educated people post BS like that, but I had to give it a shot. Perhaps he actually will read the words of Jesus and see that Christians are not like molsems. In the past when the masses could not read...yes, we were like the mostlems but today we know better.
What is a "mostlem"? Is that like your "molsems" MOL-sems? MOST-lem? What are you trying to say? Muslim? At least know the name of the group you are trying to hate on.
The original word of Jesus has been changed through history and has been distorted or rewritten to suit the feelings of the individual/s rewriting it or updating, if you will. The word of GOD is what WE make it, how we feel. I am a Christian and want peace and for everyone to get along because that's what I want, what I feel deeply about. I also know that the bible has been rewritten thousands of times and things change here and there each time. It's the arrogance of man that has branched off to different religions, different beliefs. There is ONE GOD, only one.
(1 Pe 1:25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
So...are you saying that God lied? His Word didn't last forever as He said it would? Because it "has been distorted or rewritten to suit the feelings of the individual/s rewriting it or updating, if you will. The word of GOD is what WE make it, how we feel."
No I am not saying God lied. All I am saying is the the very first sayings of God has been lost in translations. His word has and will always last. But each time the good book is rewritten, things are lost or yes, distorted in some way.
togspled, again with the spelling corrections, but you still do not dispute what I am saying.
I regret that you think I am hating on Muslims. What I am doing is pointing out that there is a serious problem going on in the world. People that live in the lap of luxury join up to become the type of people that blow themselves up with a hand grenade.
IF this person really cared about his fellow Muslims, then he could have opened up a school to help them read, write, do mathematics and have critical thinking. But no, that is not what the Koran teaches. Or am I wrong? Why don't you educate the people reading here about how a Muslim is supposed to care for his fellow HUMAN BEINGS?
Its pretty nonsensical all the people here attacking Islam for preaching hate, while all their doing themselves is preaching hate.I don't doubt the hypocrisy is noticed by all Muslims.
I believe it is going to get worse before it gets better as well but not for the reasons most people think. We are doing some of it to ourselves. For example: a university has a masters program specializing in bio-terrorism. The rule is that two failing grades, regardless whether they are electives or core classes constitutes dismissal from the program. A certain professor not only refuses to release grades to students until it is too late to withdraw, but has been known to refuse to sign withdrawal forms. The student is stuck in the class and gets an F; if this is the professor's normal behavior, the majority of the class fails the course. Considering that more than half of the students are here on visa, we have just sent them home in disgrace. How many enemies with chemical warfare knowledge do you think we just made all because one professor is allowed to act like a diva?
hey Betty...I'd let others in your community know about this awful teacher...you are correct to be worried & I agree with your assessment.....the actions of this one person has the potential for far reaching negative impact
there is a way for you to change this, I am sure...go for it...you will make a significant contribution when you succeed !!! (even if no one knows you succeeded but you, stand proud)
Mosineur, some of these students and their families sacrifice everything they have to make this possible and you blow it off as a "bad experience." Typical isolationist, never left America attitude.
For some cultures, failure in school is followed by disgrace and suicide. In some cultures, such a disgrace will lead to the student being stoned by their village. Not all cultures have it so easy as we do and an education opportunity is a great honor.
For some cultures, failure in school is followed by disgrace and suicide. In some cultures, such a disgrace will lead to the student being stoned by their village... good Lord, if that's the way they want to live then let them. That's in their country, not America. Backward people are like cavemen
Betty, I was in Iraq near Al Nasaria (sp) when some people were brought in to the jail for having blown up a water well we had just dug. Water!!! Everyone needed it, including their tribe. So I had to ask why they did it. Answer...Get this..."We could not let the possibility of the other tribes getting water as they may get some advantage. It is better that none of us get water."
I think the Professor needs and a$$whooping, but if someone becomes a terrorist over what you wrote, then again, they don't need to come here.
MOSinEUR...that professor Betty speaks of IS a terrorist...forcing others to conform to his nasty, egocentric will ....
would not want that kind of person teaching anyone regardless of birthplace
I am glad you finally said this professor needs an "a$$whopping"...at least your words refer to some sort of recognition that this person's actions are problematic
however, we need no more abuse...& the change starts with us ...stop blaming the victims who have no control over the actions of the abuser
if we are unable to do this, then the world is truly lost
Yep, the Muslim community is just about ready to speak out against TERRORISM.... any minute.... any minute now..... waiting...... still waiting..... maybe tomorrow then.
You know... I was upset at first when I read about the right of the USA to remove citizenship from people... Reading this... I whole heartedly endorse the right of the USA to remove citizenship from certain persons. This person was NEVER a citizen of the USA. It was a "mistake of birthplace", and he made the choice to do what he did. Period.
he belongs to a peaceful, loving and compassionate faith?
Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority."
OR
Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"
"Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world and all things tha come forth from it. For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, and his fury against all their armies. He has utterly destoyed them, He has given them over the slaughter; also their slain shall be thrown out; their stench shall rise from their corpses, and the mountains shall be melted with thier blood." Isaiah 34:2,3
or
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. " Matthew 10:35
Yeah, the Christian Bible is a lot nicer than the Koran...
They are told to stone their disobedient children, allowed to put women out of the city during their periods for "uncleanliness" and to execute murderers just like Muslims.
Ah Betty, once again, I have to ask why do you quote Matthew? Find a quote like that from Jesus.
By the way, Matthew was talking about bringing revolution against the Religious status quo. The sword was word of Jesus and the "no peace" was the turmoil of getting people to THINK on their own and not be sheep.
If you are going to quote, understand what is being said.
I take it you never read the bloodcurdling portions of the Old Testament. Many ancient religious writings promote punishment to unbelievers. The problem today is that many extremists of all faiths try to carry them out.
I am not trying to promote hatred or making fun of any one's religious beliefs. But I have to say this and I'm sorry if I offend anyone. Come on, virgins and honey after death? Too many get into this country because govt. makes it easy. Too many come here and create the same neighborhoods as they left. If you didn't like it there, don't bring it here. And too many BREED like flies. Offer birth control, free snipping of the you-know-what.
Um, virgin births, rising from the dead and walking the Earth, then physically ascending in to heaven? So how did that work anyway? Did magic sperm appear inside her and fertilize an egg? Or was it a magic fetus that materialized at, what, one-week, one-month, three months - a whole baby at eight months? How high did He ascend? Did he just keep going till you couldn't see him anymore? And how high is that? Then what? He just vaporized? If so, why move the rock, just materialize and vaporize all over town. All religions are full of archiac fantastical STORY TELLING. They exist to control the masses through combinations of providing hope and feelings of community, and instilling fear of eternal damnation and overthrow by competing faiths (or infidels). There's nary a shred of proof or evidence from ANY OF THEM to actually validate their various figues of power. I wonder why?
Don't forget the descending into North America to convert the Natives and pass on those sacred golden tablets of the mormons. Of course, GOP frontrunner Romney will be all to glad to tell you all about that.
"And then ask BHO all about the Muslim faith....no wonder he liked the hate filled "Reverend" Wright."
You anti-Obama guys, keep on trying to say he's a Muslim.Even though its totally false.Plus,Wright is a Christian minister. Not a very nice one maybe, but one none the less.Next you'll be saying he is part of the KKK.Oh,sorry,I forgot that's you guys,so forget that.
"I am not trying to promote hatred or making fun of any one's religious beliefs.
Ah, come on Tiva,no need to say that, you know you meant it just as it sounds. While not Muslim myself,I do wonder though ,how people freak out about the Virgins and all,but have no problem with a Heaven,Hell, and wine and wafer being the Blood and Body of Christ.Got to agree with you on people" come here and creating the same neighborhoods as they left.If you didn't like it there don't bring it here".Yeah ,all those China towns,Little Italy's,Little Mexico,Little Havana,Brighton Beach, and Southie in Boston, they freak me out too.Way to much breeding like flies in those areas for me,I agree with you there .
If you really look at the tenets of Islam, you'd be suprised how peaceful it is. Then take a look at the Old Testament. You'd be suprised how much violence there is.
togspled, READ the words of Jesus. Do not confuse the Old Testament with being a follower of Jesus. Jesus showed up about 2,000 years ago. He said that he was here to bring a new way. LOVE EACH OTHER.
The positive thing here is that he is dead. Wishing all cowardly terrorist find this ending - that would benefit the human race.
What can be the 'attraction' if the means of their existance is murder of innocents? This is nothing more than a cult and not what they believe is a religion.
90% of all murdered people since the world began has been attributed to religion - any religion. So does that really make them actual cults?
46 cases of home grown terrorism in 11 years..
Our government stole our freedoms for this?
Nanette, what freedoms did we lose?
Islam is a funny "religion". Actually I think it's more of a political vehicle than a religion. It's used in an area of the world where might makes right. From what I've seen you can rationalize any behavior with it. You just have to proclaim that you did it in the name of Allah or Mo.
liberty&freedom LuVr...
Nick sez:
It's pretty pathetic that you can't discern any moral or ethical distinction between joining al-Qaida and joining the Masons.
Yeah liberty and freedom, those people are the terrible murderers, NOT our goverment though? I'd say they are probably 20 worse than these terrorists.
LOL-1827521 your off topic lol.
It seems that sodium fluoride in the water really does have an impact!
oldg,
"3: Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Not today.
@ Sylvia-4139336
Which, to me and many other skeptics/rationalists, indicates that your holy books are full of @!$%# and should be dealt with appropriately (fertilizer).
oldgaffer,
In no particular order, let's start with
1: Freedom of speech (try saying something that someone might construe as threatening to any elected official).
OldGaffer, I think you worry about nothing.
Even success, incorporation, friendship, and citizenship is not a distraction for the "true believer" of Islam.
dead on, sadly.
Any God that needs a humans help to kill someone is weak and not worthy of any worship or respect.
MOSinEUR,
That's the problem.
The problem with most terrorist, Is they don't know Allah is really Satan.
And when they get to hell they won't have a johnson,
so even if there are 72 virgins waiting for them
all they can do is look and lust!
Well, gene-349280,
It appears that you don't know about your own Religion, if you don't realize that God, JHVH, and Allah are one and the same Being. Since they're all Abrahamic religions, they by definition share the same Supreme Being.
Since you don't seem to know that little fact, it throws the rest of your statements into doubt.
Are you a Muslim ? if not, why endorse Islamic dogma ?
I am not Christian,Jewish or Muslim, so I endorse none of the religious dogmas of a faith, I do not believe in.But I see you do. Why ?
"Abrahamic religions"
We hear this term often. I wonder if most people know it's origin ?
So the claim, is one based only on Islamic theology, and others are required, to submit to the assertion.
I do not subscribe to Islamic theology,is there any reason for me to "submit"
to this claim?
No
There is in fact, no reason for me to believe it.
Other than the ever present threat of violence, directed at those who do not "submit"
Islam is the religion of submission.Violence since it's inception, has been used as the instrument to gain said submission.
You do know the Muslims, on a jihad, had invaded Europe (Spain and the Byzantine Empire) killing and enslaving it's population, hundreds of years before Christians responded with the first crusade.Don't you ?
Unfortunately, religion is the CAUSE of people who think they know God's will... remove the cause, and the symptoms will vanish. That's not going to happen any time soon, but eventually... who knows. Either religion as a whole will become so watered down that only a few crackpots practice what, today, we call "mainstream faith", or we'll do what the savvier of the Greeks did: abandon it altogether.

ROFL!!!
Osama Bin Laden was a multi millionaire from a family worth billions and went to private schools and the best Universities. All of the 9/11 hi jackers were from wealthly Saudi or Egyptian families. But we are surprised when someone raised with American money turns terrorist?
ROFL!!!
American arrogance!!! IMAO!!!
How is this American arrogance? Can you explain or are you just a troll?
Well, a lot of naive people in America and the west continue to believe that poverty causes religious terrorism. To the extent this article addresses and debunks that wishful thinking then it is helpful. Religion creates religious terrorism.
46 cases of home grown terrorism in 11 years...
and we have spent trillions of dollars trying to prevent sick religious nuts from harming society in general - in the meantime hundreds of thousands die prematurely every year because they can't afford proper medical care... what a perversion of priorities!
Should we just let the radicals murder you because it is more cost effective?
MOSinEUR,
Looks like your the troll!
I hope this explains my position.
max, our foreign policy is us not "caring about Allah".
Darkwolf,
I do know my God His name is Jesus,
( He said no one goes to the father except true me )
The Muslims deny that Jesus is God,
to them (he's just a good man) and mohamed is the way,
So they are of the Antichrist, and his father is Satan.
So who doesn't know his religion?
YOU!

Kolb says:

You do realize that that money isn't disinterested charity, right.Egypt has the largest population in the Arab world, and unstable.Essential to us and Israel. That's why they get that money.Pakistan 180 million people, very unstable, through which we supply our troops in Afghanistan, and they have nuclear weapons, that we need them to not let fall into other hands. That's why they get that money. But even with the money those countries receive,Israel is the country that gets far more money from us than any other. They get at least 30% of all our foreign aid.
To Uncle Bob.
If you go to www.census.gov you will see that in 2008 total American foreign aid was $48, 923 bln.
Israel's share was $2,425 bln, Egypt's - $1,492 bln, and Iraq's - $7,506 bln.
Thus, your statement that Israel gets 30% of American foreign aid is false.

Unfortunate for his family, it is obvious they worked hard to remove themselves from the extreme Muslim ideologies.
It is all about following religious beliefs.
MOSinEur...I am a Christian and I see people who were raised as Christians who deviate from your "helping people" comment...
How many of those folks who "helped themslves" to the hard hearned funds of others during the latest financial crisis were raised as Christian?
Sylvia, just because you were raised a Christian, doesn't mean you are one. Some religious leader screwing a little kid is no more a Christian that Mohamhead was.
You are known by your actions, not what you call yourself. Christians are not supposed to steal, moslems are supposed to convert or kill non believers.
Do you see the difference?
MOSinEUR,
Who is Mohamhead?
Togspled, I may be disrespectful in what I wrote, but is what I said wrong?
have you read the Koran MOSinER or are you relying upon secondary sources?
It took me two years to read it and I still can not understand it. I have not memorized it, but it is NOT easy to understand like the words of Jesus. Jesus told stories that are easy to understand. I find nothing in the Koran that is easy to follow. OTHER than the preface, which basically says that this is the word of God and it is not subject to debate, but to be followed. THAT says a lot.
I read the Koran everyday. Its says:
Public hangings in Iran.
Beheadings by sword.
Call for complete annihilation of Israel, women and children included.
Worst cases of human rights violations against women.
No freedom of speech, new ideas or original thoughts allowed.
Polygamy
Cult-like worship of a Warlord/Pedophile.
Acceptance of all of the above by Islam.
Don't feel sorry for Moeed Abdul he sounds like a spoiled brat.
Islam IS a cult.
Mission accomplished...he's now deprogrammed just like Bin Laden was.
Too bad there isnt another continent left to head for.
moonbeamracer,
Good point. Need to start killing more of them and often. They have their beliefs and I have mine. You need to respect that.
Moonbeam, a lot of Nazis fervently believed in and died for Hitler and white supremacism. Just another "different perspective," kind of like joining the Masons or the Sierra Club, right? Gotta deeply respect Nazis too, right?
He was a true Muslim.
If he was, then the whole world had better join in destroying them.
My opinions.
Gapster
If we do so, we'll be wishing for the good old days of the recession of 2008
All criminals violate the rights of their victims. So, we should violate the constitution for just the criminals you choose?
All religions are evil All condone hate Think free of the false books
Jesus never said to hate. Take a minute and read the words of Jesus...not the opinions of anyone else.
MOSinEUR,
You are correct. Maybe our naive pablum regurgitating friend should read the Sermon On The Mount?
Sven, reading would lead to education and who knows, maybe we would get less trolls?
Not to many educated people post BS like that, but I had to give it a shot. Perhaps he actually will read the words of Jesus and see that Christians are not like molsems. In the past when the masses could not read...yes, we were like the mostlems but today we know better.
MOSinEUR,
What is a "mostlem"? Is that like your "molsems" MOL-sems? MOST-lem? What are you trying to say? Muslim? At least know the name of the group you are trying to hate on.
well, if it will make you feel better, women aren't allowed to learn to read in a good part of the Mustloom world.
Religion is like a fart in the car, yours smells great and everyone else's stinks. It is all a scam to herd the masses.
If this bad experience is what it takes to make them into terrorists, than maybe they should not be allowed to come here in the first place.
AMEN MOSinEUR!
Sylvia, if you think that the POS professor is a Terrorist, then you really need to get out more.
More, I can not say.
Question: Did he blow up Farmville?
Yep, the Muslim community is just about ready to speak out against TERRORISM.... any minute.... any minute now..... waiting...... still waiting..... maybe tomorrow then.
The "Muslim community" has already "spoken out" against terrorism.
Guess you rather conveniently missed that.
Guess we all blinked for a nanosecond.
because this guys a loser with no friends and no life
Period.
Better keep an eye on the brother in Malaysia. Malaysia is another hot spot for Al Queda recruiting.
Maybe he did because...
he belongs to a peaceful, loving and compassionate faith?
Quran
(3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers,
for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no
authority."
OR
Quran
(5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His
messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should
be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on
opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for
them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous
chastisement"
And let's not forget
Betty, you nailed it honey.....but do me a favor and educate yourself a little instead of making a fool out of yourself,
Ah Betty, once again, I have to ask why do you quote Matthew? Find a quote like that from Jesus.
By the way, Matthew was talking about bringing revolution against the Religious status quo. The sword was word of Jesus and the "no peace" was the turmoil of getting people to THINK on their own and not be sheep.
If you are going to quote, understand what is being said.
Dead
Now now, don't go and get his magic underwear all in a bunch.
And then ask BHO all about the Muslim faith....no wonder he liked the hate filled "Reverend" Wright.
Logic4u says,
"And then ask BHO all about the Muslim faith....no wonder he liked the hate filled "Reverend" Wright."
Tiva says,
"I am not trying to promote hatred or making fun of any one's religious beliefs.
Ah, come on Tiva,no need to say that, you know you meant it just as it sounds. While not Muslim myself,I do wonder though ,how people freak out about the Virgins and all,but have no problem with a Heaven,Hell, and wine and wafer being the Blood and Body of Christ.Got to agree with you on people" come here and creating the same neighborhoods as they left.If you didn't like it there don't bring it here".Yeah ,all those China towns,Little Italy's,Little Mexico,Little Havana,Brighton Beach, and Southie in Boston, they freak me out too.Way to much breeding like flies in those areas for me,I agree with you there .
makes you wonder.
If you really look at the tenets of Islam, you'd be suprised how peaceful it is. Then take a look at the Old Testament. You'd be suprised how much violence there is.
Frequently beheads women in the soccer stadium. Slaughters people from hiding.
Yup...we'd all be surprised. As you know.
togspled, READ the words of Jesus. Do not confuse the Old Testament with being a follower of Jesus. Jesus showed up about 2,000 years ago. He said that he was here to bring a new way. LOVE EACH OTHER.
Or not.
Religious extremism of all stripes is the biggest threat to peace in the world today.
May the Force be with you.
"Why did boarding school graduate join al-Qaida?"
Should have seen the warning signs: Muslim, stupid, wipes his butt with his hand, beheads women, too cowardly to come at you face to face.....
It's all right there.
Home grown psychopathic little spoiled rich boy.
