As for her not being found mentally ill and yet the psychiatrist commented on her calm and happy demeanor in prison, my only conclusion is she must be heartless.

At this point, it is difficult to know whether or when she is telling the truth and may in fact not know herself anymore. If you tell enough lies, you lose track of the truth.

I also watched the trial and the prosecution blew the trial. They introduced so much unproven junk science as evidence how could the jury trust anything they introduced. The prosecution would have been better off leaving the junk science out of their case. The judge should have never allowed the "odor levels" trapped in little cans (one example) to even been presented. It had never been used or proven. I am not saying she is innocent but the prosecution ruined their own case just like the prosecution in the OJ case.

The good news, K, is that if they ever do find anything else, she can be charged with NEW charges. Double jeopardy only applies to any previous charges.

The prosecutor is the person at fault for the lack of conviction in the Casey Anthony trial. There was never enough evidence for her conviction on murder charges because the Orlando Police Department failed to follow up on the report of the meter reader who found Caylee's body in the woods. Had they done so in timely manner, there might have been enough evidence to convict.

There's plenty of blame to go around but none of it belongs to the jury. Those who blame the jury don't understand the lack of evidence in this case or the stupidity of the prosecutor.

The jury was flat out wrong. As my mom said, I don't think they understood the "rules of engagement." My mom sat on a serious crime jury (rape and attempted murder). Jurors can believe/consider all, some or none of the allowable evidence presented by both sides. They don't have to believe any of the evidence, or explain or justify their vote, they don't have to justify their verdict. There are no cameras or audio recorders documenting their discussions. They CAN go with their gut; they CAN use their common sense. That is the whole idea. If they felt she was guilty, as many of them have said, then they should have voted guilty. Period.

Those guys were stupid to not prosecute Casey for negligence. Assuming that Casey was indeed impregnated while unconscious, my guess is that the whole thing played out something like this:

1. Casey was traumatized by her newfound burden and secretly hoped to be rid if it. (Wouldn't you be if you woke up pregnant with no memory of how it happened?)
2. After her daughter's birth, Casey's behavior became increasingly erratic. The way she saw it, having an unwanted daughter meant her life was permanently in pieces.
3. Eventually she couldn't take it anymore and started leaving Caylee by the pool. Obviously Caylee was told not to jump in. This ensures that any death or injury that results would be completely accidental, especially since she has taken verbal measures to prevent it.
4. One day Caylee decided to go for a swim while her mom was out shopping. With nobody around, she drowned.

Without evidence to say that's exactly how things went, Casey cannot be convicted of anything more than negligence. Even if it were, that's hardly murder.

Its kinda sad how a whole month can go by that your daughter is dead before you even report it. And, strangley, she knew where her body was!, hmm........... Any caring parent would have reported their child missing the minute they were gone, and would be deveastated knowing thier child is dead. But casey, didnt shed a single tear. To top that, out partying having a good time while she was supposovly missing.

Regardless of the angle that the Casey Anthony case is viewed from, Anthony is a souless, conscienceless individual. After Caylee was last seen alive, Casey partied for the following 30 days. What loving mother not seeing her baby alive, would dance on a club for the 1 month? A sociopath. It is mind boggling that Anthony is not in prison, behind bars for a long incarceration stretch.

This case is total injustice for Caylee.

It may seem odd to you, but some people are better able to handle stress than others. I'm often able to stay calm (and eat, and sleep) in situations where others cannot imagine doing so. It's not that I don't care--it's that I realize I can do nothing to change the situation, so I wait patiently and look for an opportunity to do something constructive.

Peter, I hope you seized the opportunity to view the taped visit of her parents visiting her in jail while, Caylee was still missing/dead. I was stunned.

Her parents were agonizing over their missing grandchild, and all Casey could talk about was herself. She wanted her boyfriends phone number, and all she could talk about was Casey. When her parents kept discussing Caylee's disapperance, Casey would interrupt, "But, what about me? I'm in jail." Not once, did she display any concern or grief about her missing child. She was as cold and uncaring as the iceberg that sank the Titanic.

No grief, no worries about Caylee. Only talked and thought of herself. It was so blatant; she didn't give a twit about her missing little girl. This taping, alone, was shocking, stunning. How could a mother not be concerned about her now missing child for weeks, unless...

She is psycho! No feelings, no conscience, lie after lie, spell psychopath or sociopath.

Being a sociopath is the most easily diagnosed of the various mental illnesses. There is however the possibility the her father is lying, that she knew he was lying, and was afraid to go against him. Being a victim of childhood abuse myself as well as a retired police detective, I know how those things can play out. I know that all the good and learned posters here have much more EVIDENCE than I do in this case, but you might concede that there is just the tiniest bit of REASONABLE DOUBT and that is why she may have been acquitted. Did she do it, I don't know, what I do know is is that I wasn't there, didn't investigate the case and I suspect neither did any one of you. What I do know is that the state failed to prove their case and the jury returned an acquittal and, at the end of the day, that's all any of us know. All the rest is just speculation and if we could be convicted on speculation alone, there would be a lot less people posting here because we would probable all be in jail.

Imatthebeach uhhhh personality disorders are mental illnesses. They're the behavioral manifestation of distress and trauma caused when a person is developing.
There are also brain chemistry components to a lot of behaviors exhibited by someone with a personality disorder.
It's also not a "disordered personality." The categorization is a bit misleading. It refers to the patient having maladaptive coping mechanism systems in response to distress.
I have Borderline Personality Disorder, which is in the same cluster as Antisocial Personality Disorder. They're different responses to the same kinds of distress.
Don't tell people "geez do some reading!!!" when all you're spouting is ignorance yourself.

She was afraid to go against her father?..... when she isnt at the house for a month!! How many people worry about punishment, or retaliation, coming a month later? She didnt have to come home at all if she was that scared. She could have simply moved away and no one would have even known a thing about Caylee. Casey isnt the brightest bulb, we all know that. She, plain and simply, got away with murder, thanks to 12 jurors with less brain cells than herself.

I can't afford DBT, my insurance won't cover it and it seriously costs about as much as tuition at a public college for a year-long course. I've opted to do EMDR instead. I haven't started that part yet, I was doing art therapy to build a foundation for a while. EMDR is typically for PTSD but since a lot of the basis of BPD is trauma and anxiety, I'm pretty sure it'll work.
Also Antisocial Personality Disorder is an adult diagnosis and there hasn't been an effective treatment for it discovered yet, but its childhood counterpart (Reactive Attachment Disorder) can be and has been successfully treated in the past.

One thing I have been watching is Casey acts like this is her reality TV show, video taping herself after the death or murder of her baby was bad for her ratings. I was referring to the diagnosis in general. Not everyone with APD is a serial killer. There is a clinical difference between sociopathy and psychopathy.
A lot of people with APD are just really flat affect with no capacity for empathy or remorse. That's it. That's sociopathy. It can breed a murderer, but not always. Psychopathy is more-so the classic Clockwork Orange painted picture of someone who uses their lack of empathy to exude charm and manipulate.
I have met people diagnosed with just Antisocial Personality Disorder and to be honest a lot of them just aren't murderers. It's when it's more acute that it spreads into that.

Interesting choice of words there... As you went on to point out there was NO evidence to PROVE she did kill her daughter either.

What we do KNOW is that Casey is on probation/parole and her daughter is dead. We also know that the prosecution screwed the pooch looking to make a name for themselves.

What's it like having no clue about how US law works? Casey does not have to prove her innocence. It is assumed she's innocent. It's the prosecution's job to prove her guilt. It's the defense's job to make the jury doubt the prosecution. And for everyone to "know" that Casey is guilty yet for the jury members to find her innocent is a mathematical anomaly.

Also, many/most prosecutors will charge the defendant with a higher crime than they suspect guilt of in the hopes the defendant will take a plea deal. That doesn't end well when it goes to trial and the prosecution can't prove the higher crime. Casey walked because the prosecution had no case. It doesn't matter how much crap Nancy Grace spews, there was no case!

To this day, I do not understand why the prosecution did not go for the "Death by willful neglect" charge. Twenty years on that one alone. I had no doubt one second that she killed her baby. Evidence or not. I could live with the No Guilty Verdict of Murder , But not on the count of Mansalughter, or even Negligence ofaChild. As she didn't know the father, and she was passed out when she was raped, why did she keep the baby? Either abortion or adoption, and if her parents were pressuring her to keep the baby, they should have adopted the baby and taken full responsibility for their granddaughter for the rest of their lives, and not force the daughter to "take/learn responsibility."

Jkatze, Casey wanted to have an abortion. Her parents talked her, guilted her and pressured her out of it. On her own she would never have given birth to Caylee. It's in the public records.

MistyDawn, Caylee Anthony wasn't paying her own bills. Her mother was a controller. She wanted a grandchild and pressured her daughter to give birth to a child she didn't really want, or to have any responsibility.

When Caylee was born the baby became another bone of contention between the two women. Granny tried to control Casey's partying behaviour by refusing to babysit for her grandchild. It was a bad situation that got worse and came to a climax. In some unknown way Caylee paid the ultimate price.

There's a lot of guilt here and many lies. We may never know the half of the truth.

If she got pregnant after passing out at a party, it's highly unlikely it was her dad that got her pregnant...unless it was a "Family party".

Both Mr. Anthony and his son submitted DNA and it was obvious neither was Caylee's father.

I don't blame the jurors though. The prosecution pushed for a conviction that they did not have enough rock solid evidence to prove. All the evidence they had for a murder charge was circumstantial. The prosecutors should have gone for negligence resulting in death / great bodily harm. They had the evidence to prove that much. The jury would have convicted her for that, and the low life POS would be sitting in prison today, probably with another 20-25 years to go. There was a woman here where i live that was just convicted of that charge. She got 25 years for it.

@viewer, this is the justice system we (you, I and this nation) have put in place by allowing enablers to manipulate the system. Don't blame the jurors. They have specific instructions to follow. Its not about what you think or how you feel, its about the way the law is written. I have served on jury's and just because you think someone is guilty, but you don't have hard facts, you can not convict them. THAT is the justice system. Casey Anthony was found not guilty by a jury of her peers. That's the system at work. It is not injustice. That's what you voted for. That's what you got.

Personally, I think she may know more than she lets on and possibly did something horrible.

The jury had no choice, even if they felt she was guilty, there was a lot of reasonable doubt. We know she's guilty but being stupid is not a crime and that was all the prosecution was able to prove.
