A step in the right direction.
You can spout off about "limited government" and "fiscal responsibility" all you want, but the true colors of this new GOP show everytime one of your candidates opens their mouth, or one of these governors attempts to pass this type of legislation. Times are scary right now, and that means an expotential increase in manufactured boogiemen.
The "illegal" scare is nothing more then a simplistic wedge issue used to scare simple people.
Here's some truth about "illegals" and really, I dare someone to find anything that contradicts these basic facts. They were gathered from the CBO and IRS Tax Attorney Journals, if you're wondering...
And all of that doesn't even touch on the Constitutionality of these laws and the effect they would have on LEGAL immigrants and/or citizens. Ask the head of the Alabama Mercedez Benz plant (which, by the way, creates thousands of jobs) how this law worked out for him, if you don't believe me.
I'm sure this post will get collapsed, but please remember, no matter how much you blame Mexican people, they are not responsible for your feelings of futility and failure. Your lives will not be magically better should they all disappear, and you will not feel any less inconsequential. You'll simply move on to blaming the next shade of "brown".

If you want to refer to it as rhetoric, that's fine with me, however that doesn't mean that what I posted isn't factual. If you're attempting to make a case that what I posted wasn't, can you please provide more information and/or sources. Otherwise, I guess we're in agreement that there could be a rhetorical aspect to my post.
brown is not he question illegal is still illegal, it would not cost $12,000.00 to send them back if we let local law enfocement to just pick them up and drive them to the border and dump them over. That is better than what they do to people from central america who try and sneek into mexico.( They shoot them for your info; or put them in mexican jails without food .)
So, you have an issue pertaining to the legality of their citizenship, and than you advocate for not following the law in terms of how we deport them???
If your logic is true, than illegal is still illegal, as it would be illegal to have local law enforcement simply pick them up and dump them over the border. By your own logic, the only solution would be to spend whatever $12,500 multiplied by 11 million is, or be a complete hypocrit.
My suggestion would be that you provide a link to any document that supports these facts. I have found that most fact gathering is biased unless it is done by a totally neutral party.

Personally I have changed my opinion on the entire illegal immigrant argument. I agree with Sarah that we simply can't afford to deport EVERYONE. I do think that ANYTIME an illegal breaks the law of our land......C YA. Regardless of what people say on msnbc posting threads, I'm not sure how it REALLY works for illegals and benefits. To me, as long as someone is paying taxes, then it doesn't hurt us to give them benefits. Doesn't seem any different than anyone else paying taxes getting benefits. However if they don't have some kind of proof that they pay taxes, then they shouldn't be able to even walk into an emergency room. If we want to talk about being civil, then THEY should take accountability for their actions of choosing to be here, knowing that they wont get benefits. This way, it is THEIR choice.
As far as them taking our jobs, I can only speak for what I see here in the south but I don't see any Americans (white, black, purple or pink) lining up to pick vegetables on the farms. This NEEDS to be done. Now, if we were going to FORCE families on welware (that "can't" get jobs) to go work there for the same wages, then that changes things, but for now, I don't see anyone losing their jobs. If you want to yell at someone about not having a job, then yell at our Dems and Pubs about NAFTA. That is the REAL problem.
How do you know anyone is illegal? Do you ask everyone for proof of paying taxes or only those that are not white? Now do you understand why parts of laws are being blocked? The process is inherently discriminatory.
Nick, this is a common piece of the discussion that is wrong. What does "not being white" have to do with anything. Illegals are also white.
People that live here legally have some kind of documentation with them, while someone here illegally doesn't. Isn't that correct or am i wrong?
I am tired of Federal laws on the books and no funds to enforce it. In addition I am tired of the concept of "racial profiling" and we should get rid of the concept of race altogether! But then black haired men would be complaining that there is "hair profiling" and have something to bitch about. Let law enforcement do their job and let Arapio and the state of Arizona enforce the laws on the books. Quit politicizing all of this and start getting something done. Eso es! Nada mas!
I am sorry that some pregnant "latino mom" came to the US and had a baby and the family might be broken up! Esta vivir! Arrest andd deportation can be handled with civility. Well that happens. What is also true is that most don't care for some laws and ignore them when they can. It is also true most people cheat on their taxes in some way but the funds to enforce that are scarce too. Unless you are squeaky clean please don't complain.

You are wrong. No law requires a citizen to carry proof of citizenship. It does require aliens to cary proof of permission to be in the country. But can you tell the difference by looking? No. So the natural assumption by xenophobics is white = legal, brown = illegal until they prove different.
What part of illegal is so hard to understand? I'm against someone illegally borrowing my car, illegally gaining access to my home, illegally taking my money and illegally entering my country. It is an out and out lie that illegals cannot collect welfare via social services. One of the leading stories on MSNBC last week, in fact, was about an illegal who was diabetic and had been receiving dialysis, was deported to Mexico where he was not receiving the proper care, and was allowed to return to the U.S. so he could continue receiving the dialysis treatment.
He was given dispensation under humanitarian grounds. He now lives here permanently with his "life partner" who is the mother of his four children, all born on U.S. soil.
Yes, illegals receive social services. There are signs in all the government offices of the all the social service departments that proclaim in both English and Spanish that they are not allowed to ask immigration status. That sign would not be necessary if they were allowed to refuse assistance based on legality of citizenship.
