i have deep RESPECT for the Law.. however COPS do have a License to KILL.. very few are; Trigger Happy, and they do get away with their Actions at times..i do understand People's fear of them..however, in this instance the COP KILLER deserved to die...U just don't pull a gun on a COP..They do deserve RESPECT and report BAD COPS, internal affairs does keep records of officers in related reported abuse incidents..too much abuse by a certain officer does remove him from TRUSTED DUTY..

Joe this is typical of MSNBC... when they first post a story it says one thing and then they change it up. I've even been caught being on the wrong side because of their misstating facts or leaving them out entirely only to add them back later in the day.
I trust that you did not verify that the story was written by the Associated Press, not MSNBC.
While MSNBC will post an update to a story if the AP updates the original story, they don't go into AP stories and add or remove facts.

Let us jump forward 30 years from now. The dirtbag who shot and killed the officer is on death row and all his appeals have run out. He is scheduled to be executed, outside the prison the liberal morons are demonstrating that he didn't do it and and death penalty is wrong.
I might agree with you Robert but Pennsylvania likes to make their death row residents permanent guests of the state. There have been three executions carried out since 1976 and all three asked for their sentences to be carried out. I truly hope to see the day when Pennsylvania decides that enough is enough and they start carrying out these sentences. In particular, the killer of my husband's cousin. He has been sentenced to death for ambushing and murdering the three officers.

Why is shooting a cop different from someone shooting your next door neighbor? I just mean that they will hunt you till hell freezes over if you shoot a cop, but if someone kills your wife or a loved one it's just routine. The shooter was a butthole, but they always make a big deal if a policeman gets shot. I just don't understand that.

I did get charged with a whole litany of offenses the stupid little piggies tried to drum up to cover up their actions (charges later dropped due to lack of evidence). When the first piggie initiated a physical confrontation I promtly put his head into the side-walk. To bad you werent there to defend this cops right to be a public danger. People who all their lives have been vital productive members of society, have been driven to desparation by circumstances outside of their control. Many people rationalize that their ruin is due to govt policies that have created conditions detrimental to working stiffs in this country, mix in an ethos of gun ownership by right.

His behavior led to a much better end for society than locking him up at taxpayer expense for years, and having the taxpayers fund endless appeals of his sentence.

It is excessive penalties that are many times behind these shootings. I call it, Nothing left to lose syndrome.
In my opinion, most penalties in the U.S., in no way fit the crimes associated with them. Leaving criminals with few options other than to go down fighting. Combine that with mass availability of guns... And well, you can see the results.
People get 10 years for stealing a pack of smokes, no wonder they shoot back rather than go to jail for that long.
Excessive penalties have zero deterrence value. Criminals don't think they will get caught, for one. They all have a full proof plan going in. And they all have the knowledge that they will go to jail for a very long time if caught. Which has the very real probability of escalating the situation to lethal levels, when their plan fails. Someone with nothing left to lose, and an arsenal, is a very dangerous person.

You have to ask yourself: why would a 58 year old person do something like this? There has to be more to this story, and now that the shooter is dead, probably will never be known. Desperation? Some form of insanity? Rampant distrust of police/government?
If this was a young person, you might say drugged up or a gang banger, but this is an adult, hopefully had some reason for his actions. Else this country is being taken over by rampant insanity!
