Idiots, never buy that much weed from people you don't know. You have to keep your quantities small to avoid larger charges from the coppers. Stupid stupid stupid
It's not that pot makes people dumber. It's just that the really STUPID potheads like this are always the ones who get caught and it makes them all look bad.
My guess is these cops went at them in full combat gear, SWAT style. Most likely spent several thousand dollars to bust a couple of people who should be OR'd, then maybe fined a couple hundred dollars.
Cops probably went out to the local tavern afterward, got @!$%#faced drunk, giving each other high-fives and back slaps. Then drove home drunk and slapped the crap out of their wives because dinner was cold.
Don't forget that they had to stop by the local park on the way back to the station so they could shoot some dogs since the offenders didn't have any with them.
Maybe they'll put her in prison with violent offenders and show how pissy our fake "war on drugs" is. Free these people and erase the criminal convictions.
Interesting. This world is so damn ass backwards I can hardly recognize it anymore. More wasted tax dollars going after someone that wants to partake in a natural plant that does nothing more than relax you, or make you hungry perhaps.
I have to side with my liberal brothers here, which I dont normally do, and cry foul! Conservatives claim to want less government intervention while actively promoting the suppression of social freedoms.
Good observation Kornfed. What a huge hypocritical oxymoron. I think the key is ,actively promoting the suppression of social freedoms. When our government suppresses progressive social change it indicates a disregard and lack of accountability to the nation's founding principles. That is why the flaunting of alcohol prohibition was so broadly glamorized and touched the rebel nerve of Americans.
Calvin, thats what I was wondering too, how did they get the pot to get busted with. Whoever wrote the article must of been high. They aren't saying someone showed up to sell them pot, but if that was the case then they would of had to put survielance on the buyers to be able to bust them buying it, but they don't say anyone else was busted along with them. So it looks like the police sold them the pot and then busted them with it. Is that legal? I guess thats going to depend on the judge now. But if the police didn't sell them pot then they wouldn't have any, so thats a set up if I ever heard of one. If theres stupid here its the police dept. I would think a normal judge would throw this case out because they were set up. I'm hoping thats still illegal. So how much did this cost the tax payers there? In the end the only one thats going to make out is the attorney and the DA. Nice. Real nice. This happened in America? Well then they should put the police in jail for this one, for being stupid.
Please do not turn this into a political debate between liberals/conservs. You're taking away from the real issue of right/wrong and pride will get in the way since liberals/conservs feel they have to stay far away from the other.
I personally have a lot of conservative views but smoke.
Nope but it does show that people that don't think are prevelent in this country.
If pot made you dumber, wouldn't there be more than just (1) person looking for pot on Craigslist with 40 million+ admitted pot smokers in the U.S. alone?
Wait! Maybe they were too high to find Craigslist? Nope, they had no problem finding the petition online to legalize pot at the Whitehouse's new website.....that was over 50,000 signatures in one month. And it wasn't even advertised like Craigslist.
Hmmmm.....

Perhaps if the Feds will not listen then the people should start seriously considering employing jury nullification. It has been done before and is a strong response that is American to the core.
big business is at fault for restricting this right of the American people and they really could use an enema!.
In 1895, the Supreme Court, under pressure from large corporations, rendered in a bitter split decision that courts no longer had to inform juries they had the power to veto an unjust law. The giant corporations had lost numerous trials against labor leaders trying to organize unions. Striking was against the law at that time. "Juries also ruled against corporations in damage suits and other cases, prompting influential members of the American Bar Association to fear that jurors were becoming too hostile to their clients and too sympathetic to the poor. As the American Law Review wrote in 1892, jurors had 'developed agrarian tendencies of an alarming character.'..."(Barkan, Jury Nullification in Political Trials, 1983)[emphasis added]
This is a pathetic waste of law enforcement resources. Aren't there any violent crimes unsolved in this area? If not, they may not need a police force in this village. Busting potheads is not justification enough to maintain a police department.
I fully agree with you...except for your choice of the term pothead. I'm sure you were joking, but to me, anyway, calling everyone who smokes mj a pothead is akin to calling everyone who drinks alcohol a drunk. Plenty of people use mj (and alcohol) responsibly. I just don't want some of those unindoctrinated non-users out there to think that there's no middle ground. Just my 2 cents. thanks.
The enforcement of the War-on-Drugs has consumed so much police manpower that the pursuit of certain types of criminal with real victims, like rapists, has been largely abandoned. Do a Google search for UNTESTED RAPE KITS to see what I mean.
But these were HIGHLY TRAINED DETECTIVES!!! Forget about the real criminals and innocent people in jail. Let's start arresting people from the Newspaper.
Jimmy Y- that had to be a republican calling everyone a pothead. They just don't get it. Nobody home upstairs for repubs and the tp's, they are probably congratulating that police force for the bust. Thats what you get with the repubs and tp's. If it was up to the tp's and repubs there would be no freedom, as shown with dubya and the patriot act he had inacted. Thats a bunch of BS too, I wonder how many terrorists they got from listening in to peoples phone calls. 0. They just want to know what everyones doing. This country went down hill and its not what T. Jefferson, J. Adams, Q. Adams, B. Franklin and the rest of them had in mind when they came here and started a new government. This story makes me sad thinking this is where the country is heading. Republicans and their less government, really? The real rich repubs are just scared that they will lose their money, so they have to know what everyones doing.
Detectives, what is that like $55,000 a year plus the cost of opperating an office space, insurance, vehicles, pension plans, medical, for one to sit and surf the internet for criminals. Where almost anyone can walk into a pawn shop show a drivers licence and with a little money walk out with an Assault Rifle and ammo, definately not assaulting oreos with these.... "Reefer Madness" all over again .. lmao!!
I, for one, am relieved that the police have removed such a dangerous criminal from the streets. For all we know, she might have wound up buying some marijuana, smoking it and then vegging out on a couch at home.
Obviously we can't have that kind of dangerous behavior taking place in a civil society when there are so many safer alternatives, like alcohol, that she could've purchased instead.
Don't forget raping indiscriminately and urging the piano player to speed up. 1/2 trillion bucks a year wasted. This is our federal debt folks. And, we've forced it on the rest of the world. It takes grown ups to admit when they're wrong. It takes grown ups to run this country. Are there none willing to serve?
I appreciate your position but I don't really agree with your statement about legalizing marijuana, and especially the tax it part. Why not just decriminalize it?
I can live with some regulations (making it illegal to produce bunk if you do grow it), but decriminalization is the way to go. If you think weed is expensive on the black market, you just wait until Uncle Sam gets his grubby hands on it!
Sparky14624 you beat me to it ! I was going to respond to same statement.
"I for one, am relieved that the police have removed such a dangerous criminal from the streets. For all we know, she might have wound up buying some marijuana, smoking it and then vegging out on a couch at home." and victimizing a bag of Doroitos.
at ancient greek.. you are even worse i am afraid.. see she was not very bright..we will all agree on that.. but you are siding with big brother which makes you even more dangerous... not just stupid but a stupid sheep of the government...
While I agree that it was a stupid use of Police manpower, at the same time how STUPID do you have to be to advertise online looking for pot when you know it's illegal?
It's a toss up on this one, as to which is stupider.
The Nazi's who murdered several million Jews also claimed they were "just doing their jobs".
Any cop who arrests a person for marijuana is a sociopath prone to all kinds of evil. Compared to the general population police officers are twice as likely to commit acts of sexual assault and five times as likely to be convicted of murder. "http://nevergetbusted.com/2010/articles/police-twice-as-likely-to-murder"
Some are just doing their jobs even the unpleasant and stupid part of it. That is what it is like when you work for a municipality. By the way dealing with the general public can be quite dicey and even more so when your elected bosses do not support you. Do you think they want to lose out on grant monies for department's budgets in the drug war ? Against this prohibition but those people were stooopid.
The fact the marijuana is a Schedule I drug, with Heroin while PCP and Cocaine are Schedule II tells you just how stupid out government is. According to them marijuana is worse than PCP, Cocaine, and LSD(a Schedule III drug).
The problem is they spent decades demonizing it, not they are too proud to say they lied through their teeth about it's dangers. And head clown in charge who said he would back off MMarijuana businesses has decided to go back on one more campaign promise.
Plus of course the obvious, Big Pharma isn't so down with home grown remedies. They want you hopped up on their drugs, not ones you can create yourself, so they funnel millions into campaign coffers and we end up using scare resources to chase down pot smokers while real criminals flourish.
ScottW714 I've said it before; Government is afraid pot will make everyone pacifists and then they won't be able to fight all their wars. Peace would be great but their buddies would not profit as well. This is what scares them. That and all the white women will sleep with hung black dudes. Remember when this prohibition started in the 30 s.... ( Inferiority complexes) ..... LMAO
really though lets not forget big business stands to lose big $$$$ with the industrial use of hemp and that means losses in campaign contributions from established sources. Follow the money.
you'll never get rid of the consumer and therefore there will always be vendors. anytime the government says "the war on______" it's a war that will never be won. war on drugs? how's that going? just ask mexico. war on poverty? i saw a homeless man begging just this morning on the way to work. war on terrorism? there have always and will always be terrorists.
Keithsn....No I don't speed because I usually drive with my kids in the car and that is enough to make me aware of the rate of speed that I am driving. I don't drink and drive because it is a bad idea and someone could get hurt because of my carelessness. I don't answer my cell phone when I am driving again, someone could get hurt because of my carelessness. The guns in our home are locked away because we have children in the house and although they all know how to use the firearms it is too big a risk to leave them out. I may protest my taxes but I don't cheat on them because until the laws are corrected that is what I owe....I am conscious about being an honest person because that is what makes a civil society....just sayin'
But that doesn't excuse marinmom for calling me a hypocrite, she doesn't know me. The woman in the article is however, easily considered stupid because she advertised to purchase drugs on Craigs List and that just isn't too bright.
I think the logic behind the hypocrisy in general, not for txmom, is that every time I visit a Wallgreens, there is a line. Yet when I was little, the one pharmacy in our town was always empty. Everyone is one something, or damn near everyone. And just because they classify it was an anti-depressent or anti-anxiety and the dealer has a degree doesn't mean it's not the exact same things as what pot smokers do.
The entire country is on meds, the difference of course is some like using permission slips from people who the industry gives freebies to, others like their buddy who doesn't get up until 3pm, but will always make a late night delivery for an extra 20. the result is the same, meds that make us feel better.
I respectfully disagree, first driving is dangerous. But you do it because there isn't a safer alternative. None the less you put you children at risk every time you put them on the road, as we all do. What that has to do with anything, I don't know.
Now if the government told you you want to put the kids in the back of the truck, the bed, would you. No because it's a dumb law, that put people in danger.
Don't confuse the law with right, just because something like say not reporting child molestation is illegal, doesn't make it right. Just because forces beyond my age, pre-me, decided that a plant they didn't like competing with their cotton should be illegal doesn't mean that law is just, and that people who don't follow the law are bad or nu-honest, it means they disagree with the law.
To me in a country where freedom is suppose to be the law of the land, there is no greater freedom then deciding how one treats their own body, from a double-cheese burger, to smoking weed, to drinking a 40, it hurts no one directly, so it should be legal. Indirectly, well we would need super computers to figure out how everything we consume of use indirectly effects others. Pretty sure fertilizers and petroleum products hurt society far worse than marijuana.
And the civilized society, well that's silly, because it's subjective, what you think is civilized is certain too much or not enough for many. I will say this, in society in general we should never exercise control over ones behavior if it doesn't effect others. If I want drink my own urine, who cares, but now if I decide to make the neighbor drink it against their will, then action is needed because no one should be forcing anything on others, including morality disguised a civility.
And I totally agree, that clown doesn't know you from jack and to me at least I didn't see any hypocrisy. I think his beef was with life, and you just happened to visit by posting.
Scott....the remarks about speeding were not the act of driving but driving over the posted speed limit.....driving, for those who hold the proper documentation is legal....some choices people make while driving can be illegal, others can be just stupid and some are made with prudence in mind and still go bad so yes driving is dangerous. As long as those choices do not intentionally infringe upon the rights or "reasonable" security of others we have liberty. So yes choosing to eat a cheese burger everyday for 45 years should be no ones business but your own unless and until it is imposed upon someone else to pay your medical bills because you made an imprudent choice...your choice then infringes upon their right to spend their money the way they choose. Smoking pot at this time is illegal, good law/bad law, that's a reasonable debate. Drink a 40 fair enough as long as you don't drive if it boosts your blood alcohol limit or you don't share it with a minor.
I'm not arguing that the laws regarding marijuana are or are not just. Although in a civil society that is absolutely a reasonable debate. If the majority believe that it should be legalized then there is a reasonable avenue to challenge and change the law. However, until then it is illegal with limited exemptions at this time.
As for fertilizer and petroleum products being dangerous....particularly when fertilizer is used in explosives a when petroleum products are used to store pot. Go figure pots bought in baggies and not glass ampules. Seems so many nature people pick and choose when it suits them.
As for civilized society...it is defined by laws....not all of the laws are particularly good laws and many are antiquated, some that could be useful have not been passed yet so yes subjective.
Did you know that in Texas, it is against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession? Or in Miami is it forbidden to imitate an animal?
What's the relevance? I dont know. Just having fun.
brad...fair enough while living in England we could not buy oxygen peroxide, you know to clean out scrapes or tile grout...I think odd but true.
So...my question is... how much would it cost to get that pliers law off the books in Texas? Now knowing that that law exists: marinmom...you got me I am a hypocrite because....we own pliers...several pairs...I admit to using them in the State of Texas...I am a repeat offender...we even let the kids use pliers...Home Depot sells them and probably charges appropriate State Sales tax for the right to sell them.
Put it in terms we can all understand . Cancel the war on drugs and with the surplus funds put a $ 65,000.00 Dollar check in every man . woman and childs Christmas stocking in America this Christmas . OR we can just keep releasing violent felons so we can lock up overwieght potheads . And screw you on Christmas .
Way to spin it SteveYo! Yep, it's the cop's fault. This woman had nothing to do with her own downfall. It was the cops doing their job that ruined her reputation. The fact that she stupidly advertised publicly that she was in the market for illegal drugs is not connected in any way to the negative impact on her reputation.
WTF has happened to the concept of personal responsibility in this country? What a bunch of whining sissies we've spawned. Is it ever the criminal's fault? I'll bet she had a tough childhood too.
Mofo the problems is that we spent a few thousand dollars busting a pot head that will in return be fined a couple hundred dollars and be released the next day. Most places buying pot now gets you a ticket. This is a prime example of oversized government and government waste. This country spends 86.5 billion annually just to arrest and house pot smokers.
Explain Mofo's 'ignorance'...you really don't think the girl ruined her own reputation by being dumb enough and desperate enough to put an ad up asking where she can buy pot? You agree with the idiot Steveyo that this is all the cops' fault? If she's at that point, it's not like she was headed anywhere anyway.
My guess is Steveyo blames his teachers when he gets bad grades too.
OK, OK, potheads aren't the most dangerous criminal element in our society. But Karma dictates that anyone this frucking stupid should suffer some consequence for their lack of mental agility. Consider the police to be agents of Karma in this case.
Too bad potheads aren't often candidates for a Darwin award. It would be great if this part of the gene pool were self cleaning like drug dealers, crackheads, and smack users.
If we put people in jail for doing something stupid everyone would be in prison.
Here in DC the police got called out because they were arresting and imprisoning people for expired tags on their cars. In Seattle they pepper sprayed an 84 year old woman for protesting. Something is seriously wrong in our country.
Yep, I do enjoy a beer or a glass of wine or a nip of single malt scotch once in a while. And while I agree that pot is medically less dangerous than alchohol at the extreme (or tobacco) and not nearly as incapacitating, there remains one big difference between the two drugs. Pot is illegal and alchohol is not (for adults).
Also, one glass of wine or beer with a meal will not impair the average adult. One joint will indeed impair your mental and physical faculties. On the other hand, take drinking to extremes and you can vomit, pass out, or even kill yourself in a single binge. Pot won't do that kind of intense short term damage no matter ho much you smoke at one time.
If you want to talk about legalizing pot, that's a different discussion. But this debate is about one idiot that went about obtaining an illegal substance in about the most stupid way possible. She got what she deserved.
Boneheads like her usually just get the old give-me-your-money-and-wait-right-here treatment. That seems a bit more measured. Just take the $30 and use it to buy donuts and coffee.
Who says you have to smoke that whole J in one sitting. If it's good stuff and you have low tolerance all it takes is 1 quick hit and you'll get that relaxing social effect you want.
Too much pot can be quite unpleasant just like too much alcohol can be.
Mofo - you are right and make a point. Regardless of anyone's view on pot and legalization it is currently illegal and someone stupid enough to post in a public forum like that is more or less asking to be busted. Also at the same time the cops were technically doing their job.
Now the bigger picture and debate that this is turning into is first off, the are much worse illegal activities happening that deserve the time and attention of the police. Next, as cows posted above, if they are going to do the bust, in this case a patrol car with a couple regular cops would do fine. The task force use is way overkill and like some of the other posts I read would not surprise me if the task force was showed up looking something similar to a SWAT team. Again major waste of resources and tax payer money.
As to the legalize it debate. I agree. It needs to be legalized and taxed as it is no worse than alcohol. Same punishments apply if driving while high (which punishments probably should be stricker yet). The country needs the money and could save a lot of money in the process. This includes reducing prison population and costs. Then some of the saved money could be applied to fighting drugs like crack, heroine, and meth. The hard drugs that will truly F*** you up; quick fast and in a hurry. And no I would never ever support these drugs being legal.
The whole situation has become a joke and slap in the face to America. Costing and causing more problems than its worth. This is one of many reforms we need. It it time.
There is a good reason to bust this person, it will discourage others from using a public forum to solicit drugs. Even better, that this has gotten media attention. Hopefully they did not use thousands in resources as this should have been a simple arrest, but you can't turn a blind eye to this if you intend on enforcing the law.
@mofo---you just aren't getting it, are you? This is NOT about legalizing pot, or how bad pot is, or how ignorand the girl was, etc.... What people arequestioning is the fact that an entire task force was sent out to bust this woman when 1-2 cops would have sufficed.
It sounds as though you want to talk...and not listen...
hspirit, I wonder what else all those smack, crack, and heroin users have in common... do they eat at McDonald's? Do they use toilet paper? Do they drink tap water? According to your logic, anyone who eat's at McDonald's or wipes their butt or drinks tap water, then, is in danger... because most smack, crack, and heroin users do those things, too.
Hey Lucy, how's that reading comprehension training working out for you? Talk about not listening.....you and your fellow potheads may want to pay attention to what you read.
The article stated that the task force got involved.
They baited Ms Pothead into a meet at a Stop & Shop. Let's see, that was one guy and a total of 30 seconds spent on a keyboard for a Craig's List response.
They had surveilance units in place for the meet. That probably means a couple of cars with undercover cops. One primary and one backup. It was a drug deal after all. Cops can't tell who they're meeting or what will go down in advance. Kudos to the task force for not taking chances.
You and the rest of your pothead buddies on the other hand construe "Task Force Involvement" to = a SWAT team complete with riot gear and armored vehicles. Nowhere in the article did it say.......
that an entire task force was sent out to bust this woman
That was your own interpretation.
Task forces are set up for all kinds of stuff. It just means a team of resources focused on a particular task. Give the cops some credit. They're not idiots. They don't want to go into a situation without reasonable backup and the ability to control the situation but they would get their butts chewed if they rolled out the sort of resources you envision on a regular basis for a simple drug bust.
This country does not have the right to classify something that has no victim as a crime. This is not the land of the Free it is the land of big brother.
Yes "whatarip", a crime is a crime. So the involved police need to be charged with illegal possession, possession with intent to distribute, fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.
Yes, I agree. A crime is a crime. All laws and ordinances are ordained of God. Please do not reply to my reply. I dont care what your religeous beliefs are.. thanks
Until it is no longer a crime. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it right. It was illegal for women and blacks to vote. Are you going to argue that was O.K. at the time because of laws on the books? In time ( maybe not mine ) I would expect that the free market will bring about the legalization or at least the decriminalization of weed. But there is little sense in telling you that because as far as your concerned a law is a law ( even a bad one )
You're comparing civil rights to smoking pot? Definitely not the same. Nobody's being oppressed by not being able to smoke a bone. I'm for legalization, but it's not legal today, and this idiot had to have known that.
On the subject of what should be a crime though, it should be a crime for high schools to graduate people who can't spell second grade words like "you're".
hspirit, why don't you move to Iran, since you seem to love theocracy so much. Oh, by the way, where does God say that weed is bad? Genesis says that all seed bearing herbs and plants are GOOD.
What is the thought process that goes on when it is decided that the best way to find weed is to post on Craigslist? Can't just wait for the weekend for your regular to re-up, can ya?
Wanted: 300 kilos Plutonium
Reason: Winter is coming, nights are getting colder and I want to keep my family warm... 5000° C warm.
Hey, I know lets just give the billions of dollars to all the young lazy people that wont work for a living, and just want to sit on the couch and smoke pot, instead of working for a living. Keep on busting those brain dead people who smoke DOPE. What a life. Oh by the way, I know,. I use to be one of those idiots that smoked DOPE,23 years of it. When I should have been being a Good dad and husband, and working....DUH
hspirit, Carl Sagan smoked pot. Don't know who he was? Look him up. I know for a fact that he was a hell of a lot smarter and more productive than you are. Your argument = crap.
Yes of course people that smoke weed don't work. They prostitute themselves out or steal for the money for their smoke. You being a worthless person had EVERYTHING to do with MJ and well not you. SMH.
Another waste of our taxpayer dollars. Granted, that chick is a moron, but come on don't they have more important issues to deal with? Legalize the maryjane!!
Legalize marijuana and the cops can get to busting more violent criminals. In fact, pot smokers are for the most part non violent people anyway. Bet they didn't have to fight to arrest her or a high speed chase therefore endangering others. What a waste of law enforcement time! Always seem to hear of these pot arrests, what has everyone stopped doing the hard drugs now?
Bet they didn't have to fight to arrest her or a high speed chase therefore endangering others.
This is how the cops ARE saving time and resources. They just go after people who are not likely to lead them on a chase. The cops might break a sweat.
Heh, I know just legalise coke, herion, lsd, date rape drugs, rape. Heck lets just let everyhing be legal, no laws, no cops. What planet did u just get off of....Duh
hspirit, you are an uninformed idiot. I was a hard drug abuser in the late 70's and never smoked pot because it was a waste of time and most of the hard core users felt the same way. I finally tried it again many years later and found it to be very relaxing for me and I have never wanted to do any other drug with it. Now I can go into almost any bar and find someone who will mix drugs with alcohol to get that better high. So you might want to do a little real research before you speak.
Organized crime get most of their profits from illegal drugs, most notably weed. From a health perspective, weed isn't worse than tobacco and it should be legalized. From a sociology perspective, having organized crime around is the bigger problem and so weed should be legalized.
"Most pot abusers are also thieves, liars, and use other narcotics to further thier high....what planet did u live on ,,,Duh"-hspririt
Of course they are. They are also pedophiles, murderers, rapists, con artists, crack smokers and binge drinkers. They are responsible for the economic meltdown, global warming, closeted reich wing homosexuality, meteors, tsunami's and the extinction of the dinosaurs.
angry sarcasm , duh. that was hard to resist and I too digressed. lol maybe this is close to home and personal for hspirit? perhaps that could be taken seriously if it is the case?
well his sense of propriety seems quite black and white if he's being sarcastic about promoting anarchy. I speculate it's personal or he's trying to stand for something so he does not fall for just anything ? inexperienced perhaps you are close with your call. adio
I would like to see the priority list of this "Task Force". Surely a person trying to buy a little weed can't be the biggest problem they have going on....must have been a slow day.
Thanks to the SCOTUS ruling stating that cops can break laws in order to arrest people some states/locals have written laws such that if you buy your drugs from an undercover cop or informant acting under cover of cops they can bust you for possession right after selling to you. Don't buy too much though, because quantity alone can increase your charges to "intent to distribute" and get you life without parole in a cell next to the multiple murder-pedophile doing 90 days.
What you are thinking of Aubrey is entrapment, the difference there is the cops would have had to put out the ad offering weed, then had her show up, buy some, then arrest her for possession.
We sure do. Making someone mellow, happy, pleasant, non-confrontational and hungry cannot be tolerated! We need people over worked, lied to, aggressive, belligerent, fearful, hateful and arrogant.
I think everyone is missing the point. Look at what is going on down at the border and by the demand for pot there is violence going along with it to supply it.. The government should look into legalizing it, taxing it and get us out of debt.
Spot-on Realist! Anyone who has read comments of mine here on the vine knows that I've got no love for California whatsoever, but...
They did have a way to help reduce their obscene debt and budget shortfalls - by taxing the production and sale of domestic marijuana. Sadly, it was not approved in the budget and ultimately would've been challenged by the Feds, but the fact remains clear.
Yes, Lets legalize it an then we can tax it so all those people who buy it can pay taxes on , Unfortunately they are buying it with money they got from selling their mothers jewelry or from the jewelry or electronics they stole from their neighbors house.
Drug use (and yes pot is a drug) produces crime
yeah I know not all pot heads steal, They are all law abiding highly intelligent rocket scientists that will someday invent intradimensional travel thereby eliminating our dependence on fossil fuels, But in the meantime most of the potheads I know of are your basic burglars and thieves.
You can go ahead and collapse my comment if you want but you can not change the facts.
LostInThePineBarrens - are you sure you don't just hang out with people who are burglars and thieves? According to a 2008 survey in Public Library of Science Medicine, 42% of the US population has smoked marijuana at some stage of their lives. You really think most of these folks are burglars and thieves? Lol, it must be mostly corporate executives and bankers who are smoking mj if that is the case!
@ Lost - You must have been around for the 1950's Pot ads from the government that says that Marijuana will turn your kids into insane criminal rapists because that's what your comments sound like...
Do us all a favor and stay lost, unless you find the Jersey Devil...
Actually those reefer madness ads are from the 20's and 30's, There is a big difference between someone who has used marijuana once in their life and the habitual user whose sole purpose is in life is to smoke dope, Dig a little deeper into your ststistics and you will see that drug use and other criminal activities are directly related.
KNW, Do us all a favor and keep bleeding your eagles green.
No sh!t LostInThePineBarrens. When drug use is considered criminal activity unless approved by our ever-so-wise-and-knowing-and-concerned elected politicrats, then inherently there will be criminal activities surrounding such use in order to supply the demand and protect the supply and get as much money out of it as possible... by DEFINITION.
The funny thing is, you think you've made a point against drug use, when all you've done is made a point against the prohibition of drug use. But you're so smart, you probably already knew that. In fact, you meant it that way, didn't you? You smartypants! ;)
Thank you Constitution stole the words right out of my mouth!
Studies have consistently found drug use to be a societal HEALTH issue NOT a legal issue and if you treat it as the latter, drug use will only increase as you perpetuate the cycle. Just as in with teaching safe sex vs. abstinence has helped with AIDS and other STD's, treating the issue at hand is the only way to proceed.
And don't worry, being a Philly fan I am used to Bleeding Eagles Green :P
These cops are heroes for clearly getting these non-violent criminals off the streets. Even if they're stupid, this was clearly a complete f'n waste of valuable police resources and time. As a tax payer, I am outraged.
Cops in all jurisdictions read Craigslist daily. Without it their jails would be empty. After all, prostitutes and potheads are the only way they keep their jobs and guarantee jobs for their kids.
They also read newspaper ads, look on eBay and monitor many other types of advertising media, They do this because stupid people who steal things and do other unlawful activities are stupid enough to advertise on them. It is part of being a good investigator.
Uhh don't detectives conduct investigations and not cops? YES. So instead of solving a murder, rape, arson, child abuse ect.. they are cruising for MJ smokers. What a testament to the LEA's.
Just another justification to waste our tax dollars . something so lame and a waste of resources should be eradicated from police hands. What there is no other violent crime in the area? If not then down size the poliCe force and get these poeple help instead putting them in jail and causing more of our tax dollars to be spent on incarcerating them.. WOW WHAT A BS Of A STORY!!!
Generally the people getting caught are not taxpayers and more likely are getting public assistance.
The same probably goes for a lot of the pro pot teenagers posting here, They are all claiming they do not want their tax dollars paying for police work only problem is the majority of you do not pay taxes!
If you buy anything ever, you've paid taxes. If you want to talk about income taxes, that's a whole different issue and a whole different conversation. To assume that just because someone uses some generally non-addictive substance means they are unemployed or deadbeats is beyond presumptive... it's just plain stupid.
Incredible stupidity on the part of police for wasting tax payer resources. The safest mood altering substance on the planet is still illegal. Not one death from pot use in medical history, NOT ONE. You cannot say that for booze and tobacco which kill hundreds of thousands a year and yet are legal. It's a complete travesty.
Let the PEDOPHILES roam. Let the Bankers steal. Let the Politicians trade stocks using secret information they get from their committees... But put pot smokers in prison.
Republican Reagan started this filthy mess. Reagan/Bush expanded the FEDERAL GOV. (DEA ATF) and all these Drug Task Forces. These agencies blew trillions of our tax money. Not only on stupid drug operations but on booze, hookers and drugs. Then you had the CIA selling weapons to the Contras in exchange for drugs which the CIA/Republican Oliver North then sold in American cities. There is a LAPD Detective who investigated this, Michael Rupert.
Michael Ruppert confronts CIA director about Drug Laundering
Whoa whoa... yeah the republicans took the drug war to the next level by bringing property seizures and such into the mix (i.e. legalized government theft of private property with no due process rights), but the Controlled Substances Act itself was largely an effort by democrats! Our wonderful vice president Biden had a large role in that piece of crap overreaching and ignorant legislation.
When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion--when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing--when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors--when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you--when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice--you may know that your society is doomed.- Ayn Rand
These folks are going to ask for levees to be passed, be sure to let them know how this waste of time, money and manpower makes you feel by voting appropriately.
Lets keep in mind that our Drug laws, just like laws against alcohol in the 1920's, were brought into existence from our chapels. The Drug-War is a Christian movement.
The real crime is sheer stupidity. On another note, I agree with some posters here and that this is an embarrassment to law enforcement. I picture some overweight, bored cop with a donut hanging out of his mouth sitting at his desk squealing with delight because he gets to pick on the non-violent pothead.
Marinmom, in spite of your sarcasm the statement you made is just about correct. Although I'm sure you don't realize it.
Pot changes one's mood temporarily, and the biggest health argument against it is actually against just one form of its administration: smoking (but cigarettes are unhealthy in that respect, too, and worse for you than pot smoke according to all studies on the subject addressing actual health impacts). There are methods of administration that have no ill health effects whatsoever: eating and vaporization. Donuts clog your arteries with deep fried fat, sugar, and flour: sugar is addictive, contributes to obesity and diabetes and tooth decay, fat is what it is and contributes to cardiovascular disease and obesity, and the flour isn't all that good for you and can compound risk for diabetes.
What case would that be? Keith Richards is the poster child for use of illegal hard drugs while Michael Jackson died from doctor-supervised use of legal prescription drugs.
I'm not sure how your second post jives with your first. But long live donuts AND Keith Richards, anyway.
What a complete waste of tax dollars. When will the people recognize that we were brainwashed by our past presidents to believe that marijuana is so harmful individually and socially. And to use an entire task force to bust a lady that just wanted to chill out at home most likely. Cops are dopes, thats why we call them the dope squad.
So dave sunny so cal, exactly what does it say about someone that refers to someone who smokes or uses drugs a pot head or dope head, Please tell me exactly what you can tell about me because of that statement.
Maybe you missed the original post that you replied to? Your reply made no sense... and dave's reply was pointed at you. For someone that thinks they are so much smarter than "dope heads" you sure did miss the boat on comprehending what you read... or at least formulating any sort of relevant response.
Look at his name. Lost is really lost, has no idea what he stands for nor any idea of what he is talking about. I don't smoke the stuff, but I totally agree that it should be legal. I know several hard working, succesful individuals who do break the stupid law from time to time and indulge in a little of the stuff. They all seem to me much more honest people than the ones who drink too much from time to time. (I will admit some do both). I just don't understand how anyone who is actually logical and intelligent can actually agree that prohibition of a plant is a good idea, especially when we could easily put half a million people to work in the good ole USA by controlling distribution, taxing, and legalizing. The only reason prohibition for alcohol was overturned is because some of those who fought to get it outlawed realized how much more harm it did. Together with the fact that the country was broke and needed a way to put people back to work. It did all of those things and the amount consumed dropped to levels below what they were during prohibition.
Hmm, maybe pot does make you a little dumber.
Go figure it doesn't just destroy unnecessary gray matter, it must not discriminate.
might have also started out as a gag, and they found a seller, never know.
just wondering if our tax dollars were spent in regaurds that the cost of all the officers needed, and so on was worth it.
Good job, gentlemen. You're all heroes.
Darrel,
Don't forget that they had to stop by the local park on the way back to the station so they could shoot some dogs since the offenders didn't have any with them.
Maybe they'll put her in prison with violent offenders and show how pissy our fake "war on drugs" is. Free these people and erase the criminal convictions.
"Both were charged with conspiracy/possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana."
So... They sold them the marijuana, then busted them for "conspiracy/possession"? REALLY? So where did the cops get their stash?
What a wonderful town this must be. Busting someone trying to buy a small amount of pot is the major crime there. Sounds like Mayberry, Andy.
which came first, dumba$$ or pot? I suspect the first.
dirtydog200 Did Andy go around busting moonshiners? Would he have bothered bothered anyone for a bit of shake? Ask Otis.
Gotch yer bullet, Barn?
It astounds me that the federal government hasnt legalized this yet.
Strictly from a financial standpoint even, the billions in revenue would be insane.
Yet, they are slapping up casinos left and right and turning the surrounding neighborhoods into instant slums for the sake of tax dollars.
Darrel - That was hilarious!
Talk about overkill. Good Lord - they must've been watching reruns of Law and Order or something. What's the tab for that adventure?
Kornfed-
Please do not turn this into a political debate between liberals/conservs. You're taking away from the real issue of right/wrong and pride will get in the way since liberals/conservs feel they have to stay far away from the other.
I personally have a lot of conservative views but smoke.
@Steve-2057180 who said "Hmm, maybe pot does make you a little dumber."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope but it does show that people that don't think are prevelent in this country.

It has been done before and is a strong response that is American to the core.

http://www.isil.org/resources/lit/history-jury-null.html another one we can thank big
big business is at fault for restricting this right of the American people and they really could use an enema!.
No, along with shooting a dog, getting drunk and slapping their wives around, don't forget they most likely smoked the bag of weed!
GGgggg . . . Morons!
"Reefer Madness" all over again .. lmao!!
To Joe and everybody that doesn't understand this. It is Obama and the liberals that are enforcing the federal law on marijuana right now.
Just sayin'.
Prohibition has never worked anywhere at anytime in all the history of mankind.
You could no more keep drugs out of the U.S. than you could keep air out of the U.S.
It is time to end the insanity known as the failed "war on drugs".
LEGALIZE and TAX NOW !!
.
Or even worse: committing assault and battery on a package of Oreos.
Agree. Once it is legalized, the price will drop overnight... put a huge tax on it and a license to sell it.
im amazed the police didnt do a rodney king on the culprits
knowing that pot kills
i would have been worried
hell let the muderers and thieves out of jail so we can train more potheads how to murder and steal
throwing pot smokers in jail is the most idiotic jail term ever
oh another unemployed and jailed person to blow taxes on lol
they cut the deficite if they would pull out the pot offenders from jail alone
oh but it might raise the unemployment stats that arnt worth a crap
hard to follow unemployment from a government perspective
it doesnt show unemployed who no longer collect unemployment
just another duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh
ROFLMFAO.......Sono and Sparky you guy crack me up. Im right there with you.
@ UnitedStates1776
I appreciate your position but I don't really agree with your statement about legalizing marijuana, and especially the tax it part. Why not just decriminalize it?
I can live with some regulations (making it illegal to produce bunk if you do grow it), but decriminalization is the way to go. If you think weed is expensive on the black market, you just wait until Uncle Sam gets his grubby hands on it!
Just sayin'
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sparky, I LOVE IT!!!
"This person" is dangerously stupid. Time for some chlorine in the gene pool.
LOL!!!!!!
at ancient greek.. you are even worse i am afraid.. see she was not very bright..we will all agree on that.. but you are siding with big brother which makes you even more dangerous... not just stupid but a stupid sheep of the government...
While I agree that it was a stupid use of Police manpower, at the same time how STUPID do you have to be to advertise online looking for pot when you know it's illegal?
It's a toss up on this one, as to which is stupider.
Steve,
You miss the point...whether you agree with the logic of the law or not (I don't), it is illegal. The police did their job.
LOL!!! That is so funny.
Really? This was the best use of the "task force"?
My guess is it was...well...the purpose of the "task force". To catch very bold criminals. Get rid of the consumer then you can get rid of the vendor.
you'll never get rid of the consumer and therefore there will always be vendors. anytime the government says "the war on______" it's a war that will never be won. war on drugs? how's that going? just ask mexico. war on poverty? i saw a homeless man begging just this morning on the way to work. war on terrorism? there have always and will always be terrorists.
See - it really is illegal to even THINK about smoking dope. You don't need to actually have any.
Pretty sure the intent of placing the ad to buy pot goes beyond just thinking about it....
txmom:
Pot has great medicinal purposes. For one it does wonders removing bugs out of peoples arses. You should try some.
JM...and yet it seems some of those bugs have become pot resistant. I thought folks lightened up when they got high?
We do lighten up but we don't become hypocritical.
so marinmom what "exactly" is hypocritical about pointing out the obvious? Do you know what hypocritical means or is it just the word of the day?
People who criticize pot smokers are usually doing something equally bad themselves. Therein lies the hypocrisy.
marinmom, what do you base that on? Way to pull a reply out of your ass...
txmom was pointing out the obvious, that placing an ad asking where you can buy pot pretty much means you intend to buy pot.
I think it should be legal, but it's not, so the police did their job, and the girl is a criminal...that means I have a bug up my ass?
So Marinmom....exactly what do you know about me that gives you a reason to call me a hypocrite?
Speeding is illegal and more dangerous than smoking weed? Have you ever driven over the speed limit, I think that would qualify, just sayin'
The entire country is on meds, the difference of course is some like using permission slips from people who the industry gives freebies to, others like their buddy who doesn't get up until 3pm, but will always make a late night delivery for an extra 20. the result is the same, meds that make us feel better.
txmom.
I think his beef was with life, and you just happened to visit by posting.
i really dont want to say this but txmom32 is right.
The female who posted on craigslist isn't making this easier for the rest of us smokers.
Well said scottW!
Thank you for the polite exchange.
txmom-
Did you know that in Texas, it is against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession?
Thanks for the trivia and the chuckle.
txmom, show me where I called YOU a hypocrite.
You do, however, need to expand your mind.
I would suppose that you were not making a direct attack on me or my remarks. Easy to say when you have been challenged.
Your tax dollars at work!
Talk about going after the low hanging fruit. These cops' actions are of no consequence, other than to ruin one person's reputation.
Pathetic.
Mofo , Your ignorance on the subject matter is eclipsed only by the fact that you were able to log on successfully .
not to mention the half ounce they had is only a misdemeanor in most states and around 150 dollar fine.
EastRowanDad,
Explain Mofo's 'ignorance'...you really don't think the girl ruined her own reputation by being dumb enough and desperate enough to put an ad up asking where she can buy pot? You agree with the idiot Steveyo that this is all the cops' fault? If she's at that point, it's not like she was headed anywhere anyway.
My guess is Steveyo blames his teachers when he gets bad grades too.
You ignoramuses are missing the point: it shouldn't be illegal in the first place.
The production law enforcement made was no different than a suped-up truck; just a material display of metaphorically artificially-inflated testicles.
Ok sure...but a simple patrol cop would of worked. "Task Force" that's the real argument here.
If we put people in jail for doing something stupid everyone would be in prison.
Here in DC the police got called out because they were arresting and imprisoning people for expired tags on their cars. In Seattle they pepper sprayed an 84 year old woman for protesting. Something is seriously wrong in our country.
Do you drink alcohol? It's basically worse than pot in every way.
OK Mofo next time they want to spend thousands of dollars for a hundred dollar fine you write the check! Leave my tax dollars out of it.
Mofo: I'm guessing that the poor girl just couldn't imagine that the cops would set up a full sting operation over a bag of weed.
Boneheads like her usually just get the old give-me-your-money-and-wait-right-here treatment. That seems a bit more measured. Just take the $30 and use it to buy donuts and coffee.
@mofo
WOW, most smack, crack, and herion users smoke DOPE too....POT is verrry dangerous...DUH...Smoke another one ,,,,DUH.
hspirit, I wonder what else all those smack, crack, and heroin users have in common... do they eat at McDonald's? Do they use toilet paper? Do they drink tap water? According to your logic, anyone who eat's at McDonald's or wipes their butt or drinks tap water, then, is in danger... because most smack, crack, and heroin users do those things, too.
Hey Lucy, how's that reading comprehension training working out for you? Talk about not listening.....you and your fellow potheads may want to pay attention to what you read.
The article stated that the task force got involved.
You and the rest of your pothead buddies on the other hand construe "Task Force Involvement" to = a SWAT team complete with riot gear and armored vehicles. Nowhere in the article did it say.......
Anyway, you can go back rolling a joint now Lucy.
hspirit-
I think your incorrect grammar got the point across.
Make Pot legal nationwide.
Nice to see the results of IDIOCRACY. I sure hope these two DO NOT BREED.
a crime is a crime!!
This country does not have the right to classify something that has no victim as a crime. This is not the land of the Free it is the land of big brother.
It's a crime to be illigal in the country.
So what is the government doing about THAT?
Michael,
You're comparing civil rights to smoking pot? Definitely not the same. Nobody's being oppressed by not being able to smoke a bone. I'm for legalization, but it's not legal today, and this idiot had to have known that.
On the subject of what should be a crime though, it should be a crime for high schools to graduate people who can't spell second grade words like "you're".
Hey Justin 293850, Why dont u go live in Iraq, if you dont like it here...DUH
hspirit, why don't you move to Iran, since you seem to love theocracy so much.
Yeah, this is the best place to find it.
You might want to scale that order back. 300 Kg is 3-30 times the critical mass (depending on the isotope).
Unless you meant 5,000,000° C.
This is why pot should be legal, our idiot government bodies are wasting billions of dollars to stop pot smoking. This is ludicrous.
Hell could saved alot of time and money if they just asked to come to the police station...LOL
This is how the cops ARE saving time and resources. They just go after people who are not likely to lead them on a chase. The cops might break a sweat.
Most pot abusers are also thieves, liars, and use other narcotics to further thier high....what planet did u live on ,,,Duh
Heh, I know just legalise coke, herion, lsd, date rape drugs, rape. Heck lets just let everyhing be legal, no laws, no cops. What planet did u just get off of....Duh
Wow hs you sure say DUH a lot. Not too sharp.
hspirit, you are an uninformed idiot.
LOL!
hspirit, it's impossible to take you seriously when you end every comment with "duh". Really, it's disrespectful and juvenile. Are you 12?
angry sarcasm , duh. that was hard to resist and I too digressed. lol maybe this is close to home and personal for hspirit? perhaps that could be taken seriously if it is the case?
I think maybe he's trying to make the rest of us feel stupid... which is really kind of funny. Still rude, but (unintentionally) funny.
well his sense of propriety seems quite black and white if he's being sarcastic about promoting anarchy. I speculate it's personal or he's trying to stand for something so he does not fall for just anything ? inexperienced perhaps you are close with your call. adio
I would like to see the priority list of this "Task Force". Surely a person trying to buy a little weed can't be the biggest problem they have going on....must have been a slow day.
like shooting fish in a barrel
Wait a minute......
I admit, this woman is obviously not the brightest bulb in the box..... BUT;
She was advertising she wanted to BUY pot (which means she likely did not have any)
YET..... she and another were arrested for possession????
WTF?
This almost sounds like the Police "sold" her the pot, then busted her.....
I think that is illegal and unconstitutional.... so wrong on so many levels it is not funny.
You have to re-up before you run out!!! LOL
So many brilliant defense attorneys, Please try using those defenses in court...lol
No we can see what smoking pot does to a person
LITPB-
It was a good and viable plan.
I agree with reallist 42355. It starts by legalizing it and taxing it , That would take care of this BS
Right on the money.
This is a little bit funny, but my local police had better not be wasting my money reading Craig's List.
They were actually looking for a happy ending massage and figured they'd get a little mellow first.
I'm sure the Police Dept. there all did a High Five all around for there work on this.
/sarc.
I'd even bet they smoked some of the evidence later that night.

When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion--when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing--when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors--when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you--when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice--you may know that your society is doomed.- Ayn Rand
excellent!
These folks are going to ask for levees to be passed, be sure to let them know how this waste of time, money and manpower makes you feel by voting appropriately.
I vote give the cops a raise and increase the fines on the pot heads to pay for it.
I am LostInThePineBarrens and I approve of this message
Lets keep in mind that our Drug laws, just like laws against alcohol in the 1920's, were brought into existence from our chapels. The Drug-War is a Christian movement.
@LostInThePineBarrens
I have read every comment on this blog and you are clearly the most adament to keep it illegal. Which brings to question....Why are you here?
"Pine Barrens" is the thirty-seventh episode of the HBO original series The Sopranos
ok, there we are......organized crime does love the WAR on Drugs because if it were legal then there would be no money to make in black market.
Hey, gotta protect your own.
The real crime is sheer stupidity. On another note, I agree with some posters here and that this is an embarrassment to law enforcement. I picture some overweight, bored cop with a donut hanging out of his mouth sitting at his desk squealing with delight because he gets to pick on the non-violent pothead.
Yeah, CatChick. The donut is way more harmful than the pot.
(by the way, I'm a cat chick too).
Don't get me wrong though, donuts are wonderful.
Keith Richards. Alive.
Michael Jackson. Dead
I rest my case.
What case would that be? Keith Richards is the poster child for use of illegal hard drugs while Michael Jackson died from doctor-supervised use of legal prescription drugs.
I'm not sure how your second post jives with your first. But long live donuts AND Keith Richards, anyway.
So you are basically agreeing with me but just want to spilt hairs?
How annoying.
The intent of your posts isn't clear, so if my response annoys you, so be it.
Is Keith Richards really alive, I though maybe he was one of the walking dead
children, children...just relax, and go pull a tube or two...it'll be alright...
...just don't post an ad on crackslist telling everyone that you are going to go smoke a couple bowls.
Pull a tube?
What is a tube, tman?
What a complete waste of tax dollars. When will the people recognize that we were brainwashed by our past presidents to believe that marijuana is so harmful individually and socially. And to use an entire task force to bust a lady that just wanted to chill out at home most likely. Cops are dopes, thats why we call them the dope squad.
Says alot about the people we call pot heads or dope heads
It says more about the poeple calling them that.
