Whatever happens, one thing’s for sure, Iran will not take any notice of words and will ignore any threats, agreements and commitments until “the bomb” is safely in their bag.

The only hope for peaceful resolution of this matter is in the hands of ordinary Iranians. They will need to change the government, including their supreme leader, Ali Khamenei and president Ahmadinejad. It is no secret, that both of them on several occasions threatened the destruction of Israel and its friends. There is no doubt they would use the bomb!

The only other way to resolve this issue is to remove the threat by force. This may be necessary if all else fails.

Saudi Arabia sits at the epicenter while "Rat Man" struts like a rooster in Iran. In the very short term, Nukes in Iran are more of a problem for the Saudi government and the other oil rich kingdoms in the area than for the rest of us so far. The Saudis are sweating sitting that close to the maniacal Iran and they don't like it. As far as the Russians and the Chinks go they will always play the same reliable games they always play. Both nations are enablers and will only support what gives them the better hand. So playing nice ain't in the cards when it comes to help from both of those evil empires and everyone knows it. The Saudis are nervous and would love to see the government of Iran overthrown before the entire area is laid waste.

The committee that investigated "911" said it was more likely that Iran had more to do with it then Iraq. But Bush had a mind of his own, he was wrong or didn't care, he wanted Iraq and now we have to deal with this. But Obama knows what he is doing, just like he always has. As has been reported Sanctions have never worked. This is just a smokescreen so Obama can say we tried everything and Russia and China didn't want to come down hard on Iran so they forced us to use the bunker busters to break up their facilities.

Can't use nuclear weapons but bunker busters will set them back a few years and a little note that they will be used again can be sent to Iranians.

Obama should request that Iran's good friends Russia and China send their own nuclear inspectors to take pictures and examine and to be allowed free access with an American or European expert. If Iran says no, then the cat is out of the bag and China and Russia can't say no to the bunker busters.

While i applaud Obama for trying new avenues, I think he is wasting his time. Russia and China are the very nations selling weapons to Iran and "poor little" Africa . We all know that Iran has nuclear bombs, 1 for USA, and plenty for Israel furthermore China and Russia pretend to be oh so diplomatic ...but these two nations are willing to throw USA under the bus for a chance to be the next "super power". Sir, you are delusional. Iran wants nuclear weapons regardless of what the USA says about the matter. This latest report comes from the IAEA and through the UN. But anyone who has been awake, meaning sentient, the past 30 years has already known what the IAEA seems to have discovered--Iran desperately wants nukes.

Bush didn't cause them to follow this policy, and Bush hasn't harmed our credibility. There is, for now, just one question we should each ask ourselves before going forward: Should Iran be allowed to obtain useable nuclear weapons in violation of its treaty obligations? Everything else is just noise.

My answer to the question is that we cannot allow Iran this weapon. Unfortunately there is no way to stop Iran diplomatically or economically since to do so would require a solid front in opposition to Iran, and we don't have it, and won't have it. Ever. Which leaves us just one option...violence. It will require an act of war to stop Iran. What act should we employ?

I don't know, but targeted assasinations would be a start. Scientists and political leaders need to be dissuaded from their current course. If we aren't serious about such a policy then we must go to attack their research and production sites directly. Too bad that Iran has been hardening and dispersing these facilities for decades--ever since they saw Israel, thankfully, attack Iraq's facility.

So what do you want? Do you want a nuclear armed Iran, or not? And if not, then what are you prepared to see the USA do to stop them? We could, I suppose, do nothing in the hope that Israel will succeed, but what a tragedy for the world's most powerful nation to be relegated to spectator status regarding the world's most pressing matters.

Our president, Mr. Obama, is weak, and he's weak in terms of foreign policy as well. This isn't to say he was wrong to go after OBL, or to up the drone mission. But it is to say he had no serious alternative. In the case of Iran, like with Korea, Obama is allowed to make choices, and so far his choice has been to do nothing serious to stop our enemies from further destabilizing the world and making it a more dangerous place for you.

We had better start spending our monies here to secure our own country's borders first, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure like bridges, the levees, roadways, high speed rail and tram systems, the electric grid, expansion of wireless etc to rural areas, educate these young people who head into the armed forces in areas of cyber security etc and high tech fighting, and find ways to provide and work on cost effective clean energy production and delivery here in the USA etc before starting another conflict unilaterally.

Hadn't we better refill our coffers and find new revenue streams before trying to put another expensive conflict cost on the citizens of the USA's credit card, seeing as how we are being told by these republican conservative teabagger DINOs that we can't even afford any public safety nets or even something as basic as healthcare, education, firefighters, school meals for needy kids, medications or housing for the poor and homeless and elderly in this time of high unemployment, forclosures, injured veterans and their needs... ...unless of course the grand plan is 'culling' of the masses by sending their children to be killed in foreign lands....

President Obama should be speaking to the Russians and the Chinese, these are the very countries that have very cavalierly built and sold the Iranians the parts needed to complete their nuclear aspirations, and armed the Iranians with all the best in modern weapons systems including the ballistic missile that blood money can buy.

Conventional bunker buster bombs may or may not be able to go deep enough to ruin Khomeini II plans short term … most feel these are too deep, and there are probable more of these secret locations than currently understood.

I am not for putting thousands of US service members on the ground, that has been shown two different times to be a huge loss of US service member lives, a failing policy, and the United States cannot afford it. Get out of Iraq, get out of Afghanistan.

The United States has in inventory neutron weapons that would end the Khomeini god worshiping military above ground, we have them, and they are usable and would end the conflict very quickly, as well as put Khomeini back in whatever sick heaven he needs to go to without the overwhelming fallout issue, after that drop as many bunker buster as needed.

We run into the same problem with Iran proving the negative as we did in expecting Saddam to ever be able to prove a negative too. Given decades to the contrary, who would believe Iran? Even France, or Russia, or China, won't really believe Iran isn't seeking nuclear weapons, but it would allow them to play their disingenuous game.

So there is no way for Iran, really, to prove itself clean. There never was. We won't tgrust their word, only their action, and nothing they've done for the past 32 years shows anything other than a deep-seated desire to have nuclear weapons. All that should matter to us is the question over whether we will allow them to have those nukes, and, if not, how we will act to stop them.

Anything short of this and Iran will, one day and without doubt, have nuclear weapons. When that happens everything changes relative to what we can do and will allow Iran to do something far more dangerous than merely threaten Israel--they will be more capable of spreading their Islamic revolution to other, non-Shia, muslim nations.

I know this is hard to understand for many conservative warhawks, but the reality is that we can not morally attack every other nation we choose. If we continue down this path to evermore warfare, we will end up a broken empire, just like every other empire that has ever graced this earth.

The only option is to engage Iran directly with diplomacy, at the highest levels. There needs to be treaties to ensure peace. There needs to be a true resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian affair (not just lip-service). And there needs to be a massive pull-back of our 900+ bases around the world.

The world has much more confidence in the USA now than anytime during Bush's reign.

As I remember it, it was the pre-emptive nature of our war in Iraq that hurt the US's standing in the world. And as I remember it, the US preceded that war with loads of diplomacy and pleading at the UN and elsewhere, trying to get the world on board. Some did, many didn't, and as you (John Kimble) say, at least we saw where our relations stood with those various countries, which was valuable in and of itself. The US then went ahead and did what its leaders believed they needed to in Iraq. Obama is on track to do basically the same exact thing in this case with Iran. We all need to avoid the temptation of seeing this through the liberal/conservative lens. Those labels are becoming increasingly meaningless as polititians of both types continue to sell our country down the river.

I say, let's forget about whether we think Obama is a uniter or a Muslim or pragmatic or a redistributionist or whatever label yanks your chain. Forget too about Bush being a doofus or a decider. How well do the president's actions right now on this specific issue serve America's interests, and what do we think of these actions in terms of traditional American beliefs and values? North Korea's the size of one of our smaller states. If they initiated anything with their primitive weaponry (what essentially we had in the 40s) they will be wiped from the map. And they know it. Russia and China would do nothing to us if we retaliated in 2nd strike in that scenario.

Iran is pretty much the same. Other than they have soviet cold war era armor and air power, they are at the primitive first levels of nuclear weaponry.

I look at both of these nations as bargaining chips for China and Russia. China may have the potential of surpassing us economically but not militarily at present. Russia is behind us militarily. It is in both of their best interests to have some rabid dog place holders (N. Korea and Iran) to confuse/misdirect our efforts.

Really in the long term I see it working out without a big confrontation. Although we are rivals, the receding super-powers (USA and Russia) and the emerging one (China) are not really enemies. All parties stand to gain more through mutual trade and development. Ultimately the crazies like Iran and N. Korea will not be tolerated if they impede progress.
