If they can take a annual photos in grade school -- should be able to do it in jail too!

The better question is to ask why it took so long to notice their absence. Guards in most jails are supposed to walk and check up on all inmates every couple of hours at the most after lights out.

Best (or worst) I ever saw was on the "A" Team. They broke out of prison with plastic trash bags, duct tape, a lawn chair, and 4 blow dryers. And a VERY long extension cord.

My cousin was a prisoner being transported from one state to another by a civilian contract transportation service. This guy needs to be in prison and stay in prison.

He has reduced staffing and cut wages for all programs run by the state, while reducing state funding for all of the counties to the point that they cannot provide adequate staffing for offices and facilities that they manage, including jails and prisons. This is the Republican governor whose company paid the largest Medicare fraud fine in the history of the United States. Don't believe me? Google "Rick Scott" "Medicare fraud" and see what you get. These guys were in a county jail- awaiting trial for the charges listed. They have no sentence as yet- this escape will be added to the charges if they're brought back alive. I worked in the Fl. system and i don't recall anyone escaping from Indian River before Scott took over. maybe Scott owns the bloodhounds.

Taylor was already tried-he was due to be sentenced for first-degree. Reed had a criminal history from North Carolina and has been in jail awaiting trial in Florida.

How come the jail hasn't updated the photos? I would think that the initial photos would have been taken by the sheriff's department during processing for the initial arrest? Does the county release the inmates' files during processing through the system (sheriff's department to county) or is each facility responsible for the updates?

They update the photos when they arrive at prison. Since they were in county lock up their photos were current when they arrived.

You know like that movie no escape or escape from new york. Hell it would force them to take care of themselves while taking each other out and ho wants to be locked in a cage anyway its win win for everyone.

It was called Alcatraz and they shut it down in 1963. They shut down McNeil Island too. Besides, being surrounded by water is no deterrent to prisoners desperate to escape. I say stick the prison in the middle of a desert, 200 miles from the nearest water source. Let's see how many escapes pan out then...

skip the boat patrols, make the surrounding ocean a shark breeding and rehab zone. Drop some meat out of a helicopter now and then while the inmates are watching :)

New found freedom? You do realize that this was a county jail and not a prison. What this means is that these inmates weren't charged with thier crimes yet. So that "new found freedom" and "peace" you were hoping they find probably won't happen. If they felt the need to escape before being judged by thier peers it just shows how innocent these guys are.
