If these people are trying to get help from the Federal Government. They might as well hang up there hat..Obama is going to use the money for War and Aid other Countries..
It is the Hope and Change you all can count on...:P
What's the matter? The Republicans have been saying that no more people should be helped. They are constantly bragging about no helping any more "leeches"?
Why should the victimes be any different?
"Fiscal Responsibility" That is what you want....
See, you Republicans keep forgetting that you are cutting your own feet, when you throw this dumbass rhetoric around.....
Someone just whisper in BHOs flappy ears that there might be a union office in that district. Bet he would turn loose the entire FEMA clan to come down and kiss their ass then.
LMarcT, "If FEMA helps, it's Obama's spending. If FEMA doesn't help, it's Obama's spending. If Obama doesn't do a damn thing, it's Obama's spending."
Actually, I personally am sick of the way he and his administration has been denying to assist American citizens, yet has no problem denying sending OUR money to foreign nations to rebuild foreign citizens homes damaged by flood, etc. Or sending our money over to rebuild/build new foreign schools, foreign hospitals, foreign roads, create jobs in foreign nations (yes, "our" representatives can do it for Foreign Nations but not here, both dems and repubs), foreign airports, foreign dams, foreign levee's, etc.
They were elected to represent America and American interests and make life here better not banking and foreign banking, not foreign nations, not pharmaceutical corporations, not insurance agencies, not mega corporations, etc.
No matter how "broke" we are here they never have a problem sending Our money to foreign nations, especially the ones who hate us, who are fighting skirmishes or wars with us, or those who they know send the money on to terrorists to be used against us and our military over there.
So tell me how you can defend him and his administration. How can you can let them get you to where you put down and actually advocate for hurting more American citizens instead of holding them responsible?
IRESPOND-2315268 - As usual, you miss the point. Either the Federal Government is in the business of providing emergency funds for disasters or it isn't. Are you saying that FEMA should withhold funds because VA voted for a Republican governor? Why should the federal government spend money to rebuild New Orleans and not this small community in Virginia? New Orleans is prone to hurricanes and yet they did nothing to prepare. There will be another major hurricane there in another 25 years or so and they will have done nothing to prepare for it either. Most republicans don't want FEMA shut down because they don't think it is necessary, we want it shut down because it, like all government agencies, they are incompetent at best and criminal at worse.
I'm sure Eric Kankorhead of Virginia has not even requested fema help this small country in Virginia. I live here in Virginia and I haven't heard anything about the GOP who run everything here asking for a damn thing?????
According to Mr. Cain, the church should jump in to help. Where are those communities when we need them? What's the matter Virginia? Did you run out of boot straps? Perhaps Cantor can go to the White House (on his knees) and say he was wrong. Perhaps. I still think Obama should do the right thing and help these people. That is what the United States community is for. Don't get into the same trough with Cantor and Boehner.
Respond--right on. My earthquake and its aftermath are priorities--your hurricane is not. Therefore, I will ask for help and be justified and your help should be offset by a reduction in government spending somewhere else.
We have not had a serious discussion about what we really want government to do or not to do. The TPers say they don't want government help, until they do...if your political ideology says that government spending and intervention are wrong, that means that you shouldn't ask for government intervention and spending for yourself at any point in time. Ever. For anything. If you do, you are a hypocrite. Oh, I forgot--the TPers and GOP have no problem w/ hypocrisy.
I know it must be very hard to hold up disaster aid when it would benefit your own constituants. I assume the citizens of Virginia know how to fix the problem.
It is amusing how some people on this Post still blame Obama for the lack of disaster aid. If you want to find the felon just look for a politician standing under a Republican Banner.
Forgive me but since when did the President say yes or no to FEMA applications?
All in all I would say get use to the new normal folks. There is no money. We can't possibly ask the rich to go back to Pre Bush tax rates. They might create a job or two if we let them keep even more money. In the mean time this is just the beginning. And if you on the right think it will be any better with a Republican President please explain your logic since we started this trip down the rabbit hole with a Republican President.
Most people and businesses in this area did NOT have insurance? Why not? So, because they didn't want to have insurance we (taxpayers) get to pay for the damage?
You might see the correlation between this and the main feature of Obamacare: all citizens should get health care insurance so when one gets sick, the rest of us don't have to pay for it. Now does it make sense to you?
Gov. Bob McDonnell said he will appeal FEMA's decision, and he invited President Barack Obama to stop by Louisa County to see the damage firsthand while he's in Virginia next week promoting his jobs plan. Obama turned down the invitation on Friday.
no matter how you look at it.... he still turned his back on fellow Americans because it might interfere with his "war chest speeches" meanwhile, his $150 million in warchest $$$ is a drop in the hat to a mere $18million isnt it?
Magalodon.. I call you un-american, you weren't born here, your Hitler, your a socialist, I shouldn't even be in this country, your a coward, I want you out of my LIFE and I don't need your money, if a man get sick and he has no insurance let him die. the next day, My house burns down and I have no insurance, you come walk down the road to see what happened to my place, I see you and I run up holding out my hand to shake your's and patting your back with the other hand as I tell you, I'm so glad to see you Magalodon, I had no insurance, because I never thought this could ever happen here and I need your money and help to rebuild what I had for me and my family, you know we are ALL part of this group of homes and I sure would help you if you needed it. YOU get the just of what I'm saying. The Republicans has STOPPED OBAMA FROM DOING WHAT RIGHT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Obama asked for money to fund FEMA to HELP ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHEN THEY NEED IT.
obama asked the republicans to fund fema, there is no money because of the republicans. what can obama do short of slapping the republicans to doing what is right.
You must be dreaming since the funding for both of the Bush wars were nonexistent and got us into this disaster in the first place. the Bush prescription drug disaster costs us trillions and continues to add to the deficit. Bush tax cuts cost us 11.6 million an hour and Mr Obama had to extend them in order to negotiate a debt ceiling deal that was artificially created by the GOP/TP children throwing a tantrum. FEMA funding comes from the governement... if there are no funds available due to the GOP/TP schemes over "fiscal responsibilty"... then there are no funds. The GOP got us into this mess, it is up to you to vote them out in order to get back on the path to the "American Dream".
lol you funny! sry, but you sound a tad more Hitler/unAmerican than i do.
The Republicans has STOPPED OBAMA FROM DOING WHAT RIGHT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Obama asked for money to fund FEMA to HELP ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHEN THEY NEED IT
then you pbviously forget, FEMA ISNT BUST? they have, or are supposed to have over $250million, so whats the problem? they need 18M to help cover exspenses. hows that help in Joplin coming along? then you CLAIM its the republican party stopping Nobama the Clown? how so? when his jobs bill went before the senate (democrat controlled) it was shot down? when he had control of the congress and senate for 2 yrs, he couldnt get anything but a crap HDR bill passed, and even then he only musters the votes buy putting in exemptions, and promises.
kind of hard to blame it all on the republicans isnt it when you cant get enough support from your own party? now, Nobama the Clown needs to look in the mirror and start pointing the finger at himself for a change.
Pretty rude and uncalled for Arthur, don't you think?
Billie was just pointing out that the GOP had held FEMA funding hostage in the last budget fiasco. In other words, the GOP has let this administration know that they want equivalent cuts for every dollar they approve for FEMA disaster relief. So maybe the GOP has something to do with this being turned down? Could be.
Don't blame President Obama, it's your boy, Eric Cantor who refuses aid for his district.
Republican congressman Eric Cantor will not help the Hurricane Irene victims in his Virginia district until funding for other programs are cut.
Cantor told Fox News "Just like any family would operate when it's struck with disaster, it finds the money to take care of a sick loved one or what have you, and then goes without trying to buy a new car or put an addition onto the house."
Cantor's words are hardly comforting to the thousands of people in his district who have had their homes and businesses destroyed by the wind and flooding Hurricane Irene left in her wake.
FEMA's disaster relief money will not be enough to cover the cost of the damage in Cantor's district.
"Eric Cantor and the House GOP leadership appear to agree that more funds are needed, but won't help until President Obama and the Senate agree to more budget cuts." According to Think Progress. Cantor made clear on Fox News that he would not support any additional funding unless matched with "savings elsewhere."
Ironically, while Cantor has accepted FEMA disaster funds for Virginia, he supports "$1 billion in disaster relief funding as part of the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, which contains massive cuts to FEMA and first responders," Think Progress added.
The time to point fingers has long since passed. Do we need more proof the system is not working? American taxpayers and voters denied aid. Shame again.
I have not read about this. It is disgusting that they have not had any government help. Of course they
live in America instead of some other country. Also Obama is probably not in office and wouldn't do anything if he was. Or perhaps he is out getting some forged signatures to help him win the election.
He is the very worst president this country has ever had. Hopefuilly somone truly investigation the
last three occassions where he appears to be very guilty of at leaser particpating in.
We must have change or we might just as well set back and let people getting paid to protect our
rights, ensure our money is going in the right places and to do that we must have change.
Quit thinking party and think people. Read all we can about them and then cast our vote.
Why is it "disgusting" that you and I aren't being forced to bail them out? I carry insurance on my house, including earthquake insurance. When the company my house was covered by stopped renewing their earthquake riders, I bought the separate policy (which has quite a large deductible). We are telling everyone through our actions, just live in the floodplain, we'll bail you out, just live right on the ocean, don't clear the woods away from right up around your house, we'll bail you out, forget about insurance and wait for a FEMA grant. While we should not be totally callous toward our fellow-citizens and some disasters are truly unforseeable, I don't want to be responsible for people who weren't responsible for themselves and their own places.
This is a one-sided article. There is pretty strict criteria required to approve FEMA involvement... FEMA is designed for the worst of the worst. It sounds like they screwed up and didn't have insurance. FEMA is NOT about replacing what should have been insured. They are about helping when a catastrophe is too large in scale for the state to deal with. They provide funds to clear out whole areas of debris... to provide mass temporary services... huge logistics support... apparently this didn't qualify.
Thanks for an intellectual reply...it's a relief to see someone with half a brain make a knowledgeable comment, That was the first point that came to my mind, and I wondered why FEMA didn't qualify them for help (which the article seemed it unnecessary to report on). The article is another media hype "woe is we" bad government ploy, blame it all on the government...when in reality its we the people who are messing up. These people were like the folks everywhere...who grew to comfortable with not having tragedy strike in such a long spell, they became lazy minded and ignorant of being prepared. They were the ones who decided not to have insurance against natural disasters, and although some may have been low income families not able to provide insurance, it still doesn't qualify for a whole community to be assisted by FEMA which takes care of mass damage and tragedy. The article only shows one photo of what may or not even be what looks like a small barn or shed blown down in my backyard. Not much for providing a reasonable amount of information on a county wide disaster in my book.
On top of that, FEMA isn't, and never was, intended for reconstruction, but for emergencies to try to make sure that a disaster doesn't cause further deaths and injuries after the disaster has happened. After the emergency is over, then longer term planning for reconstruction and recovery need to take place, but that isn't FEMA's mandate.
If we are so broke why did Obama increase Special Ops to 120 foreign nations from the 60 Bush had? Then there is that Huge increase in Special Ops we have sent to foreign nations, doubled in size to 120 foreign nations we have Special Ops in (not including regular military) in 3 years.
How can we send foreign aid to 150 nations? I know that the 25 foreign nations I tracked USA foreign aid to equaled over $2.5 Trillion (yes, trillion) per year. Remember that means we still have another 125 foreign nations I haven't had the time to track how much the foreign aid we send to them is.
Think if we cut Way back on that it might actually help to put our country in a better position economically?
What about the $2 Trillion a year we give away to foreign based mega corporations? Remember they also do not hire or have less then 25% of American citizen employees too. So how are we benefiting from this?
Tracking foreign aid and corporate welfare is very difficult since they hide it, cover it up, put it in with other things ... and if it is hidden they are ashamed of it and know enough US citizens would get upset enough to throw them out of office.
Then what about the $16 Trillion the Federal Reserve gave to foreign banks (and a few American), foreign nations, and some foreign corporations over three years?
And you're blaming American Citizens? Grow up, learn a little bit about our government/representatives and what they are actually doing and not what they feed you thru the "pre digested and allowed news for the masses".
Well, talk about thralling someone with your acumen!
Way to rout up some statistics. Be sure to pat yourself on the back tonight before your cup of warm milk.
Now, tell me, what exactly is your point here?
Everything you list *contributes* to our financial problems as a nation.
Nice try at a threadjack. And yes, I blame Consumers - they're the ignorant, uneducated sloths that continuously re-elect 'government representatives', as you so brightly call them.
And at what point do you read in my comment that I reference or even imply a reference "pre-digested (Look! A hyphen!) and allowed news for the masses"?
Looks like someone needs to work in their reading comprehension.
Again, sophomoric crack at a threadjack.
Next time, make an attempt at actually contributing something to the discussion.
Knine, you do realize foriegn aid funding is approved on a bipartisan basis. Write your politician and try to contribute something more than everything being "Obamas fault". And Obama is pushing against coorporate welfare. The GOP are the ones holding us hostage everytime taxes and closing loopholes get mentioned.
On top of that, his numbers are completely incorrect. He indicates that foreign aid is more than half the US budget, but it isn't. That is just ridiculous on the face of it.
$16 T is about a year of Gross Domestic Product. It that much were given to bail out anything, the fiat creation of that much money would cause much more inftlation than we've seen. Think it would be something like EIGHT TIMES QE I & QE 2 COMBINED, suffice it to say this isn't happening.
Um excuse me isn't Eric Cantor from Virginia? Isn't the state run by Republicans who've held up FEMA funds until they find offsetting costs? Isn't most of the wealth in Virginia a result of government contracts. Vote out the Republicans if you want a government who'll respond to regular taxpaying citizens in an emergency situation. These guys only care about their own wasteful contracts.
As Eric Cantor is fond of saying to Seniors worried about weakening and eventually ending Medicare and Social Security....
"I'm sure there are charities that can help you out."
Pony up to your constituents you slime bag. Tell them to go find charities.
What am I thinking... the people of Virginia aren't Eric Cantor's constituents. The Banks and Corporations are. No Banks or Corporate HQs were damaged in the earthquake or tornado... so it really doesn't effect Cantor's constituents.
Meanwhile, the rural folks in his Districts are too blinded by their racism to realize that voting away their safety nets (SS and Medicare) is NOT better than "getting rid of the Black guy". And make no mistake about it... Eric Cantor wants to get rid of Social Security and Medicare.
While I feel for these folks, and I do believe they should be helped (of course, I'm a liberal), I wonder how many voted for McDonnell and less government. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
Your kidding. Your thought process is ingonant. While one may want less government-- their federal taxes are still paying more government. And whether ones party wins or not-- one is still owed representation. Just what I would expect from a B.O. supporter. Your comment smells.
OBAMA doesn't help poor folks! He's too busy sending our troops to fight other country's wars OR their bad guys. Off to Africa to kill someone else. Good job on Al Awaki's 21 year old son, OBAMA...he was a huge college (oops) terror threat!
Obama hasn't sent any troops yet. He is going to send 100 troops as advisers. How many troops did Bush send to overseas wars?
To this point Obama has spent his defense efforts on tying to get us out of two major wars, one lasting over 10 years that Bush got us into. Those two wars, to this point, have cost over 1 trillion dollars, each and every dollar of which ended up in our deficit. How does 100 advisers compare two 1 Trillion in deficits for unfunded wars? How many Americans have died in wars that Bush started? How many Americans have died in wars that Obama started?
It is amazing how out of perspective the Obama haters can be. No connection to reality, just hate.
Yeah, Obama is sending troops off to finish Bush's wars. Didn't Powell say "pottery barn rules" you broke it, you fix it. Bush broke it, now Obama is fixing it.
We wouldn't have t worry about getting out, if we never went in.
How does 100 advisers compare two 1 Trillion in deficits for unfunded wars? How many Americans have died in wars that Bush started? How many Americans have died in wars that Obama started?
Since you are concerned with all he special ops we are using. Still how many of them have died under the Obama administration compared to soldiers kill in wars Bush started. And, how much have we spent on those special ops in all those countries compared to what we have spent on wars started in the Bush administration.
Your hate of Obama doesn't add up when compared to the money and lives Bush has spent.
OBAMA doesn't like white people, period. If he did the Feds would be all over making sure the mess is cleaned up & money is passed around. Funny thing though, you don't see the looting going on like in New Orleans (even the police were cleaning out Walmart) , nor are they running around with signs demanding the govt take care of them. hmmm but don't racial profile.
Dog: Did you even read the article??? That is what it is about- the town is angry because no one is helping them. As for your racial profiling quip- get back to us next time your town is 83% submerged for weeks and you receive no help whatsoever. And for this poor town, they can thank the tea party in congress who hold up disaster relief. You can hate Obama all you want for no reason- but don't be a total ignoramous and make things up.
Hey Bozo....President Obama had nothing to do with this. It's Eric Cantor and the Tea Baggers who cut, cut, cut and refuse to help anyone making less than million bucks a year. It has nothing to do with race (however bringing it up makes everyone know you are a racist).
Um just like President Bush had nothing to do with New Orleans getting blasted. Liberals are so wishy washy it is down right sickening. It is OK for you to scream racism at the drop of a hat.. but OMG don't through it back in our faces. Get real my little liberal bottom feeding pets.
OMFG dog, just shut the f up...your ignorance is so mind-boggling it's hard to imagine how you make it through daily life without stepping in front of a bus or choking on a pretzel like your favorite president. You have commented numerous times on this thread and have yet to make a valid point or say anything of consequence. Look in the dictionary under the term 'ugly American' and there's a picture of you...
To Jeff, don't give "Dog" the time of day. Ignore his posts and like the gnat he is, he'll buzz around for awhile, then die. It's obvious he's uneducated, just check the spelling on some of his posts. People like him, who are starved for attention, will rant and rave, just to get a response from someone. Personally, I don't think he's worth the effort or my time. Instead, let's just concentrate on putting out the facts for people to see. Eric Cantor has "bragged" that there will be no more emergency funding for FEMA without budget cuts to match it. He got what he wanted, and now his own district is paying the price. That is the facts in this case. If the people in his district are smart, come re-election time, they'll vote the self centered, bum out of office. He's a drag on the entire country moving forward.
(LAUGHING!!!!!!!!!!!!) Please, Please, your killing me, DOG your pet that every man LOVES. Jeff and chief you have me in tears, GOD!! I LOVE YOU BOTH, not in gay way. Thank You for making my day.
Wow jeff & the chief, your frustrated I can tell. Kiss and makeup, you don't really hate each other. Now go potty like the good little liberal pets you are.
Actually, the Tea Party is the one putting the squeeze on disaster relief. They want to make disaster aid a "Sophie's Choice" for our cities and towns.
Unless the money is taken out of other federal spending, there should be no relief for any of these things. Otherwise, we are just adding to the deficit.
If you disagree, answer this question:
Why should my grandkids pay for these people's misfortunes?
Because others will do the same for them, when the time comes. It's called PAY IT FORWARD or "do unto others..." (you know, the Golden Rule). And that's either a Ponzi scheme or the basis of most world religions, including Christianity. Depending on how you look at it. I mean, depending on how cynical you are, Gramps.
What about this? Do you think supporting this might also have a bit to do with why "my grandkids pay for these people's misfortunes"?
The Washington Post reported that US had deployed special operations forces in 75 countries, from South America to Central Asia. US Special Operations Command spokesman Colonel Tim Nye said that on any given day, America's elite troops are working in about 70 foreign countries, and that the total by year's end would be around 120.
or ...
The USA is involved in wars in nations: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen. Military personnel are deployed in other states including; Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Out of those countries; Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates all host US military bases.
The CIA is reportedly building a secret base somewhere in the region for use in its expanded drone wars in Yemen and Somalia. Plus it is also using already existing facilities in Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates for the same purposes, and operating a clandestine base in Somalia where it runs indigenous agents and carries out counterterrorism training for local partners.
In addition the Obama administration has also been indoctrinating and schooling indigenous military partners through the State Department's and Pentagon's International Military Education and Training program. Last year, it provided training to more than 7,000 students from 130 countries.
According to Pentagon documents released earlier this year, the US has personnel deployed in 76 other nations: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Syria, Antigua, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Very busy administration Obama has. Is it any wonder we are broke?
John Howell - "Why such my grandkids have to pay..."
1. We the people are now paying for the 15 Trillion dollar debt left to US by allowing a Republican Tax Structure to let about 1 million favored people amass more than 30 million dollars; with the Billionaire having an Average worth of 4.7 Billion.
2. The total worth of the US is 54 Trillion Dollars; the 30 million or more group have 34 Trillion of the total worth of the Country.
3. ONLY the Super Rich will have Grandkids.
4. more than one out of every 300 Americans have more than 25 million dollars.
5. If you are not one of the NON JOB CREATORS with a worth of more than 25 million; you do not have any of your needs or interests represented by the REPUBLICAN party. And you really are a DEMOCRAT.
6. We can Ad Valorum the super rich at the State and Federal level over a few years and PAY OFF the National Debt.
7. The Rich do not creat jobs with their Wealth - THEY INVEST !!!!
so you obviously sold it at the top of the market (meaning during the bubble) because that house is probably not even worth what is on the mortgage anymore.
If you paid CG tax on the entire sale amount, then you should sue your accountant, because you only pay capital gains on the INCREASE in value from when you bought it.
It was better that you sold it though, because if you borrowed on it, you would be underwater right now and really up the creek without a paddle.
Under the current law, everyone pays less on CG, under most circumstances 15% max, under some less-common ones 20% max I believe, so I join you in calling 'BS' on this. $250,000 of primary-residence related CG is fully tax exempt in any event, so don't see how anything would have been owed on half of that!
The problem is that your financial story doesn't pass muster. It really doesn't. It has nothing to do with your so called store, it has to do with your statement of capital gains you paid. Which would have only been about 20K and would not have been enough money to hire many more employee's if any at all (lets say 20K is salary for a year, that is one employee at less than 20 dollars an hour, and that is only the wage that the employee gets, not additional payroll taxes).
Way to put the pressure on Eric Cantor, Obamans. You should be ashamed of yourselves. This politics of brinkmanship is RUINING the country. The GOP got us a downgrade in credit and refuse to give FEMA a cash-advance. So this is payback time, huh? Pretty sad to see what it looks like in reality.
All the big political players and Wall Street with its gambling (and please, dont regulate us, just bail us out and keep the tax cuts coming).
All of you stink and you know it. You just smile through it.
What do you expect when you elect a weasel like Eric Cantor....cut, cut, cut and if you need help from our Government, you must earn over a million bucks a year, or we don't have time to talk to you.
"The federal government has refused to help foot the $18 million tab for the damage from the disaster trifecta"
This is the second time they have refused to help American citizens. Then turning around and helping the foreign citizens rebuild their homes in foreign nations like Pakistan.
Seems they have forgotten who the money comes from and who they are supposed to be representing.
Since this complete administration has put their selves in the position of not meeting the requirements of the Office or Position they are currently in, why are we putting up with it?
By not keeping the Oath (as they are required to do until they leave the Office or Position they are currently in) they made it so they no longer meet the requirements. That means we can dump them at any time.
It also means that they are Domestic Enemies of the USA; unless you believe they have "Preserved, Protected, and Defended the US Constitution" from Domestic and Foreign Enemies.
Also, All three branches of our government, the Military, all Law Enforcement, all Heads of States, and all federal employees are required to take and keep an oath to support and defend the Constitution and not an individual leader, ruler, office, or entity. That is because without the US Constitution there is no more America the Free, nor protected individual rights.
Plus he ordered the ATF's "Fast and Furious" actions in 2009. Here is the link to the news announcement:
This is Cantor's district. He has insisted he will NOT provide for more disaster aid to FEMA without offsetting costs. Well, FEMA doesnt have the money to help, and Cantor wont let them have it for purely political costs. I got a feeling that the voters are gonna be REALLY pissed at Cantor come 2012! This is HIS DOING!
hopefully they will vote him out, BUT Republicans have a way to make you believe them with those crying eyes they are sorry and will never do it again. This is what they told the American People in 2010, they are sorry, they learned their lesson, they'll play fair this time, and create JOBS will be the first order of business. The first words that came flowing from their LIPS was not JOBS, but we are going to make OBAMA A ONE TERM PRESIDENT!!! and so NOT ONE JOBS BILL HAS PASS.
Gee .... and I thought I might be the first to point at Mr. Cantor. Gee Mr. Cantor, if you require offsetting funds before these folks get the help they need, how about contributing your salary sir? It wont rebuild everything ... but your replacement will help with that task.
There are many out there who want to help, and would donate to a fund, however who can you trust now a days? Everyone rips off everyone else and the money would mysteriously disappear. Funny though how we help everyone else in this world but turn our backs on our own (gov). Grreatest country in the world my ass. I have 0ne question for you. Name one good thing about America
America has too many great things to list-but our govt is crime oriented-by the rich for the rich and screw everyone else. Its time to vote out all the incumbents in ever district, in congress on both sides-in the senate and white house-vote every single one out of office
One exception.... Take the time to find out if you have an incumbent that is voting and sponsering and advocating to do things that will help ONLY YOU.
If they are helping you then keep them. Remember you are really like 99.9% of the other people.
If they won't raise taxes on those that can afford to pay taxes you know right off they are not doing anything for you or to reduce the long term debt.
Since we have the $25 million dollar worth group of people that have more than 35 Trillion dollars of the total 54 Trillion dollar worth of the U.S. .............BE CLEAR OF ONE THING... IF HAVING MONEY MEANS YOU ARE A JOB CREATOR THEN THESE PEOPLE WOULD ALL READY BE HIRING EVERYONE UNEMPLOYED FOR THE DESPERATELY LOW WAGES PEOPLE ARE SETTLING FOR. (read the past years articles from FORBES)
The TRUTH IS real rich people do not use their own money to create JOBS......... They all INVEST WITH THEIR PERSONNEL MONEY.(stocks, bonds, trasury notes -- just a maid and nanny and gardener employed) Small businesses sometimes use the owners own money to make jobs. But not the REALLY RICH.
I want someone with a much broader vision of government than to help "only me". I'm fairly fortunate and can help myself for the most part. I want to see the truly needy given an opportunity to be less needy. I want to see our proclivity for "foreign adventurism" reduced. I want to see defecit spending reduced and eventually eliminated in order to benefit the future generations, which will require both cutting all nonessential programs and some valid ones as well, even though that will entail genuine tax reform which will perhaps eliminate some benefits I take advantage of currently. I won't object to more taxes on myself personally (up to a point) if they are used actually to reduce the national debt, not just to expand government. I'm for "reforming" social security because that is the only way to keep it viable in the future, but not in any way which violates the commitments made to the current recipients and those about to retire. The idea of government being "what's in it for me?" leads to earmarking, keeping nonessential military bases open, needless farm subsidies, and the like.
And some of the truly rich do continue to reinvest in the businesses that made them wealthy to begin with. But if the current tax structure was truly conducive to creating jobs, there would be many more than there are now. So that argument rings increasingly hollow. The incentives need to be strenghtened for keeping jobs here, bringing them home, and "repatriating profits", even if this means some temporary tax breaks to help make that happen -- a tax break primarily for 'the rich' with which I can agree. Let's face it, most income taxes are and will continue to be paid by the well-off. That's how the system was designed and should be.
To get back to the subject of the thread, does FEMA need to help places like Tuscaloosa, Ala., Joplin, Mo., and the like? Sure it does. Does it need to be used to subsidize people who want to live at the beach or on the river bank or surrounded by dense woods and brush? Of course it does not. And if I want "less government", it can't be "less government for everyone but ME"!
We can’t help these people; it would take from the money we are hand feeding the CORPORATE HOs. Everyone in government that says NO to helping these people should be dropped off on a deserted island for a year with only a knife and a plate. If I had my way anyone against helping their fellow Americans would be dropped on that same island. I think after a few months they would eat each other and say us the money of putting them in ground.
haha. you folks in VA have voted for people that want smaller government and aren't terribly eager for FEMA to aid the disaster stricken. since you want a smaller government your wish has been granted. lucky you. now you are getting some of your own medicine. smaller for everyone else except you, right? next time you go vote, you might consider voting Democratic and kick your stinking governor and cantor out.
The President knows there are no oil wells leaking out of control-or any natural gas deposits-or easy access to a mega supply of coal-no veins of gold or silver nearby and since you cant cough up $25k for a plate of food or have a building large enough to host a $25k a plate bar b q-hes not coming to see how FEMA and other federal agencies are avoiding helping you in any manner. I know thats not funny-its not supposed to be.You see-Obama is just another puppet and could care less about you all.
Its up to all of you to get his attention.I bet if you run an ad in the news that declares there wont be any presidential / congressional/or governor voting this year or next-that will get attention and you will get $$$$$$$$$ help!
Let the fool take his big black COTUS bus on the road. Bet he wont go near Louisa! No votes for him, no jerks to believe his Jobs bill crap. Just 1500 or so hard working citizens to foot an $18,000,000 bill.
Gee, Yankiwi, d'ya think their congressional representative Eric Cantor will get any votes from these 1500 hardworking souls - you know, the Eric Cantor who holds up FEMA funds until there are offsetting spending cuts?
Wouldn't it be great to hear how Mr. Cantor 'splains to his own constituents that they cannot get FEMA funds 'cause HE doesn't want the gov't to spend any more money? Cantor's house is still standing by the way.
LMAO IRESOND, here's your sign.
They can't help themselves IRESPOND.
If FEMA helps, it's Obama's spending. If FEMA doesn't help, it's Obama's spending. If Obama doesn't do a damn thing, it's Obama's spending.
They can't help it. They're stuck. It's a brain thing...
WHAT would be your excuse LMarcT? LACK OF?
Huh? If I only had a brain I guess I could blame Obama for anything and everything. You're right... I must BE LACKING.
I know... maybe they can ask the Koch bros. for some help.
Smead.
Now does it make sense to you?
no matter how you look at it.... he still turned his back on fellow Americans because it might interfere with his "war chest speeches" meanwhile, his $150 million in warchest $$$ is a drop in the hat to a mere $18million isnt it?
Obama asked for money to fund FEMA to HELP ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHEN THEY NEED IT.
obama asked the republicans to fund fema, there is no money because of the republicans. what can obama do short of slapping the republicans to doing what is right.
there is no money because Obama can't print it up fast enough to cover his outrageous schemes and dreams as well as pay for his 4th or 5th war front.
@Chris post# 1.17...
lol you funny! sry, but you sound a tad more Hitler/unAmerican than i do.
then you pbviously forget, FEMA ISNT BUST? they have, or are supposed to have over $250million, so whats the problem? they need 18M to help cover exspenses. hows that help in Joplin coming along? then you CLAIM its the republican party stopping Nobama the Clown? how so? when his jobs bill went before the senate (democrat controlled) it was shot down? when he had control of the congress and senate for 2 yrs, he couldnt get anything but a crap HDR bill passed, and even then he only musters the votes buy putting in exemptions, and promises.
kind of hard to blame it all on the republicans isnt it when you cant get enough support from your own party? now, Nobama the Clown needs to look in the mirror and start pointing the finger at himself for a change.
Let the GOPers know the problems, such as calling their offices; it is them holing up the re-build; and they almost to vote down the disaster funding.
Could be.
Um no
There you go again. :)
BTW, both parties wrote the FEMA rules of engagement.
Thank you LMarct!! FINALLY someone wants to stop the blame game & tell it like it is. BOTH parties are screwing this country in a big way.
Ironically, while Cantor has accepted FEMA disaster funds for Virginia, he supports "$1 billion in disaster relief funding as part of the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, which contains massive cuts to FEMA and first responders," Think Progress added.
http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/10202790-eric-cantor-refuses-to-help-hurricane-irene-victims-without-budget-cuts
The time to point fingers has long since passed. Do we need more proof the system is not working? American taxpayers and voters denied aid. Shame again.
Progress Not Congress.

Where is the state's help?
There are no jobs in Louisa. How do they pay for insurance with no money???
LMarcT and djdrew.......what have YOU done to try and give these folks a hand???
Does it make you feel better to blame those who haven't the means to live as you do???
LMarc
On top of that, FEMA isn't, and never was, intended for reconstruction, but for emergencies to try to make sure that a disaster doesn't cause further deaths and injuries after the disaster has happened. After the emergency is over, then longer term planning for reconstruction and recovery need to take place, but that isn't FEMA's mandate.
They should holler at Pakistan, they seem to know how to get cash from Uncle Sam.
@Agreed. *cough* VA is in the Red zone.
Because when a disaster strikes, the first thing you do is stick your hand out to the other taxpayers and whine about getting your money.
This place is part of the problem in this country, not the solution. In case they haven't heard, we're broke.
Knine:
Chris,
On top of that, his numbers are completely incorrect.
Not exactly the Tea Party's finest hour now, is it? They hate their own constituents. Send 'em packing in 2012.
This isn't the first time FEMA has withheld funds from a Republican run state.
In fact, Louisa County is in Eric Cantor's district.
Bet he isn't taking any calls.
"Louisa County is in Eric Cantor's district" HOW SWEEET IT IS!!! or POETIC JUSTICE.
Just what I would expect from a B.O. supporter. Your comment smells.
well then tell Eric Cantor, their congress person to release the funds to FEMA. He's holding it up. Geebus pay attention.
Mojo doesn't understand. He appears to be igonant.
Mojo, before you call someone ignorant, be sure you're not being less than intelligent yourself.
OBAMA doesn't help poor folks! He's too busy sending our troops to fight other country's wars OR their bad guys. Off to Africa to kill someone else. Good job on Al Awaki's 21 year old son, OBAMA...he was a huge college (oops) terror threat!
janand,
Obama hasn't sent any troops yet.
Let's see, Obama increased Special Ops forces over there from the 60 Bush had (that was to many) to 120 we currently have in three years.
Read post 12.4 and learn a little bit.
Knine,
Again the questions:
What are they going to loot a barn?
Because your grand kids are good people despite their selfish grandfather.
Let me guess....you probably call yourself a Christian too.
Yes, and being involved in all of those places was President Obama's personal idea and initiative.
7. The Rich do not creat jobs with their Wealth - THEY INVEST !!!!
comrade
that is 100% bs and you know it. You don't pay CG taxes until you take your money out of the company.
so you obviously sold it at the top of the market (meaning during the bubble) because that house is probably not even worth what is on the mortgage anymore.
Please, please, set up an account, let America know where to donate to your cause because the gov't won't.
We're sick of it.
What do you expect when you elect a weasel like Eric Cantor....cut, cut, cut and if you need help from our Government, you must earn over a million bucks a year, or we don't have time to talk to you.
LMAO
yeah the area is not a welfare state or full of blacks, mexicants or leeches. why help them.
How do we know these are all white people's homes?
You can tell because they are cleaning up after themselves, no looting & no signs demanding anything.
There's no hope for you, dog
Just what Eric Cantor ordered. Tough love, baby.

It's AMERICA, dip. Feel free to depart it for anywhere (hell, everywhere) else since it's ALL better!
You got that right!!!
What exactly would a smaller government have to do with this? Same revenue + less federal salaries= more money in the till
sorry folks-
The President knows there are no oil wells leaking out of control-or any natural gas deposits-or easy access to a mega supply of coal-no veins of gold or silver nearby and since you cant cough up $25k for a plate of food or have a building large enough to host a $25k a plate bar b q-hes not coming to see how FEMA and other federal agencies are avoiding helping you in any manner.
