If they studied and worked at getting employment as hard as they complain and blame others; they might one day become a useful member of society. As it is now, they are choosing to become leeches of society doing nothing useful and yet blaming everyone but the person in the mirror for their failure.
I find it totally impossible to conceive of any person, anywhere in the world, who is that ignorant and unintelligent to believe that the banks and investment firms who colluded with them are completely without blame for the current state of the worldwide economic collapse.
"If they studied and worked at getting employment as hard as they complain and blame others; they might one day become a useful member of society."
The usual head-up-the-nether-regions thinking to validate a political rant! The corporations they are 'blaming' are the ones who destroyed the economy and MADE it impossible for them to FIND employment! They are graduating colleges with degrees and STILL can't find a job!
Wish people would see the big picture instead of just the icon in their closed mind.
Did you watch the NBC Nightly News report? Fascinating that in the poll, those earning over $75k/yr (upper incomes) are more supportive of the movement than those earning less! I suspect it has to do with education, as the uneducated are most likely to be duped by the banksters.
Good for the students and the people at these protesters. They are standing up for their rights for fair and equal pay for producing the products for all these greedy rich people that made their fortunes off the backs of the poor by giving them cheap wages to live on.
Times have changed and it's change the 99% of the people want, and they will get it too.
Keep up the good work and keep protesting.
It's time to take back what you made for all these crooked employers and big businesses.
Let me paint you a picture of what a life of these so called "leeches of society" is like:
You graduate high school and have 2 options: 1 try to find a low level job, which are scarce and will pay you enough to barely survive, or 2 go to college and take on massive amounts of debt in hopes that when you graduate you will have a high paying job to pay off the debt.
And guess what happens right after you start going to college? The greatest economic depression since the Great Depression.
So now there are all theses older people (with more working experience) that have been laid off taking jobs that in the past have gone to young people (to give them work experience). There are also a bunch of old people that are afraid their retirement savings is not enough, so they keep working a job that normally would have been handed over to a young person.
So now for you, you have no work experience because you can't get one of those low level jobs over an older person with experience who was laid off. You can't find a high paying job to pay off your debt because there are no jobs there. And all of this was caused by an economic situation that you did not cause, you could not have foreseen, and did not happen until you had already taken on a ton of debt.
You can call us lazy all you want, but at the end of the day, it's my generation that's going to have to fix this mess your generation created. You're welcome
Scrawling "give us money" in graffiti on the wall does little to lend any credibility to these protests. The person who wrote that has done the entire movement a great disservice. I understand that the economy is not doing well and people need jobs, but there are also a lot of jobs out there that are going unfilled due to a lack of people with the skills to fill them. You can not go to college and major in art history and expect to find a job that is representative of the amount of money you put into the degree. I place a lot of blame on colleges and universities for offering degrees in nonsense majors for which there is no demand in the economy. Our education system, including colleges and universities needs to be preparing people to fill the jobs in our society. To soak someone $100,000+ for a degree that the schools know is going to be worthless to them is bordering on criminal unless they explain that the degree is for knowledge only and will not provide the student with a meaningful career. I see literally hundreds, if not thousands of ads a day for jobs in various aspects of the IT industry, many of which remain unfilled for extended periods due to a lack of qualified people to fill them. Also, these colleges and universities mislead students as to what they are going to be worth in terms of salary when they graduate. Too many students fresh out of school think that they should be making what a person with ten years experience makes. I am not saying that there are jobs out there for everyone that needs one or that everyone has what it takes to work in the high tech world. However, people need to look at the job market and market projections when they choose what they are going to major in. It is great to love art, but people also need to understand that it is not something that many people can make a career in. People need to be realistic; make art your minor and major in something that will give you a decent career so you can spend time and afford doing things you enjoy. Very few people in life get to make a career doing the thing they love doing the most.
The protesters have a right to protest. No question. But they have no solutions and are generally protesting their unhappiness. I graduated college in the mid 70's, and my first job was manual in a hotel. My second job wasn't much better. Today I am in my 50's and make a pretty good living in a financial institution. Yes I am unhappy and for many years was unhappy with my jobs. But I didn't complain and certainly didn't protest. And things were very bad in the mid 70's and at other times.
So my answer to the protesters is go work on something and make something of yourself. You are accomplishing nothing but smelling up the park in NYC and pissing off a lot of people who currently work hard and are also just barely hanging on.
Yes there are very rich people, that is capitalism. Hopefully the ones who broke the law will get caught, but you can't blame them all.
And as to some of the complaints I have heard that they think corporations should pay more taxes, well that is up to the IRS to find the cheater. If a company loses money, they pay no tax, period.
Why is it that every right-wing moron suddenly forgets about all the lay-offs over the last few years. We have people saying...
but there are also a lot of jobs out there that are going unfilled
and
go work on something and make something of yourself
Yes... that's the problem. People just need to go out a get a job. Apparently these right-wingers have completely forgot about the millions of lay-offs that happened over the last few years. Nope... no company laid off anyone. All these protestors decided, at the EXACT SAME TIME, to suddenly get lazy a quit.
And all those reports about thousands of applications for ONE job... that must be a conspiracy. In fact, the hundreds of applications my company gets for each job must be fake applications, right? Because according to these right-wing idiots, no one is applying and everyone is just being lazy.
Yup, the right-wingers are correct. Lay-offs never happened... people just go lazy and quit to demand hand-outs. BofA did not just lay off 30,000 people... they all got lazy at the exact same time. GAP is not laying off people because they are closing 1/3rd of their stores... all those employees got lazy and quit. The thousands of applications going out are not real... they are all a liberal conspiracy.
Yes, you conservatives are correct... the lay-offs are a lie, people just got lazy and quit. God you people are f***ing stupid.
ya gotta understand DJWilson2 is probably retired and had the good fortune of living through the best of times when he was working. Now that he's not, he's free to criticize everyone else.
I know of a rich person that has become exasperated with life for reasons he never had to do anything for himself or others, because he has too much money he doesn't realize.
Last time I checked they were begging to get people in Alabama to help with the harvest. Then again that would be manual labor and not need that degree in Social Arts you have.
Really spider, the 60's ended 40 years ago? I guess I'm not really 40 then since I was born in 1970. Thanks for taking 10 years off my age. You really have some excellent math skills there bud. That just proves how completely ignorant you are. Or is ignorant too kind of a word for the likes of you?
Last time I checked they were begging to get people in Alabama to help with the harvest. Then again that would be manual labor and not need that degree in Social Arts you have.
So what's you point here Gloryhound? Do you think someone that has $50,000 in college debt and a four year degree is going to start an illustrious career as a tomato picker in another state for minimum wage??
Is that the best you people have to come back with, start at the bottom and work your way up? Tell me what the purpose of going to college serves then? without the chance to advance a minimum wage job barely puts gas in the car!
The boomer generation screwed this country up with their "I got mine to heck with you" attitude! But yet the attitude continues to live on Newsvine! Priceless!
Can you see how ridiculous your post sounds to everyone?
I like how no one has tried to critique my scenario. It's because everyone know's it is true, and no one wants to admit that the deck is stacked against my generation.
No matter what, we'll fight through. Cause we're not like the loser generation before us, which started out in the single most prosperous time period in America's history and cashed out in one of the worst, which they 100% caused. We'll fix it, and pay for your Social Security, and pave the way for a prosperous American future. It's just another problem you dumped on our generation. We'll take care of it. And you dare to call us lazy...
1. No one held a gun to your head and told you to take out loans and go to college.
2. No one promised you that just for going to college you would get a good job.
3. Where does it say you have the right to a job in your chosen profession and that the job is going to pay you as much as you want or think you need? If that is the case I want to go be a full time martial arts instructor. Guess what it doesn't pay the bills like the actual job I do does. So I keep doing the job that pays the best and do what I enjoy when I can.
4. This country needs people digging ditches, flipping hamburgers, sweeping floors, and a whole list of others. If everyone was guaranteed a $150,000 dollar paycheck every year just for going through 4 years of college, everyone would go to college and we would have no one doing those other jobs that don't require a college education. Spending money on a college education is to give you a leg up on people that don't. It isn't to guarantee you a better life than someone that didn't. That is a gamble that is affected by your personal drive, willingness to sacrafice, willingness to put your skin on the line, and yes a little old fashion luck. I know people that don't even have a GED and do very well. They figured out a need and filled it, started their own business, worked long and hard 16 hour days for little to no pay, now they make more that a lot of college grads.
5. If you were starving you wouldn't be so picky now would you?
"Do you think someone that has $50,000 in college debt and a four year degree is going to start an illustrious career as a tomato picker in another state for minimum wage??"
haha...they could just default on their student loan like so many before them...nothing new
Do you think taking out $50,000 dollars in student debt gives you the right to a higher paying job than someone that doesn't take out $50,000 dollars in students loans or even go to college? Stop blaming society because it didn't create a job specifically for Harry Blank. With a student loan of $50,000 I would also expect people to have a better understanding of what is a right, what is a privilege, and what you have to actually work for. If enough people stop going to colleges the price of an education will go down. It is all supply side economics.
you seem to have mis-interpreted my post there Gloryhound , please reread and look for what may be subtle hints of sarcasm , or go to that bastion of untold knowledge "Wikipedia" and clue yourself in as to what "sarcasm" is and it's place in the English language
thanks
other than that issue , I agree with your assessment of peoples responsiblities
Sorry about that Harry, I missed the sarcasm. So many people right now thinking they are actually owed something for nothing it sometimes gets hard to tell who is being sarcastic and who is just plain looney enough to think they are owed something because they woke up before noon today.
true that Glory...I don't begrudge anyone who is actually "needy" as in disabled , or inflicted in any way , in fact I say give them double , but there isn't anything left to give them after the lamprey's and teet suckers who COULD fend for themselves choose not to ,
I say : if you put up a sign that says "Free Hamburgers" it ain't just the hungry that show up!
I am sick and tired of hearing About how bad Obama is and how bad Bush was, let me make that clear.
I personally think all these corrupted clowns in Washington need to be run out of town. Let me say why, when you have Obama and John Boehnersmiling at one another playing a game of golf, at the same time the country is going down the toilet, that tells me one thing, We Are All Screwed!!!!, and it does not matter what affiliation or party you are with. The American people need to step up to the plate and send a strong message in 2012 that we will no longer put up with this misery that both parties are putting us through. Tom And Lyn
Saturday will be a big day as the occupiers protest against the immoral banking corporations. Here in Charlotte, NC, we see the two major banks (BoA and Wells Fagro) promote crimes against God and against nature. BoA goes so far to light their building with rainbow colors on gay holy days.
We welcome the occupiers future visits as they protest the upcoming Democratic convention here in Charlotte and the immoral banking corporations of our once beloved city!
I agree with Tom. One of the reasons the people are protesting is incomes have decreases for the majority of us. Here in the U.S. the lower 50% of the middle class and all of the poor peoples incomes have decreased 7% over the last 10 years. Tax cuts for the Rich raised their incomes a lot and paid for their relocating companies to other countries, out-sourcing jobs and placing machines in stores and other places to do what humans used to do. Just about everyones retirement and disabled incomes have gone down in Net take home pay. Just health insurance, medicare and dental insurance ate up all the cost of living increases we did get. None in the last two years.
Hi, we protesters are from SEIU, AFL-CIO, and EU Unions and are here to help you.
Yeah, SEIU's agenda is Mr. Obama's agenda, so don't tell me to take down my tent or I will burn your vehicle or store. And if I get arrested, I will call the White House.
This is bigger than ANY political party could ever hope to be! This movement is far too large to try to politicize into one party's agenda!
This is THE PEOPLE! The 99% that the world generally doesn't hear much about, or talk about, OR LISTEN TO! The regular people of the world! This movement goes all over the party lines around the world and right back home! Political party's are nothing compared to this!
This IS history in the making! Never before have the protests been so wide spread! The 99% of the population are letting their voices be heard and showing their strength in numbers. Governments had better listen because we will NOT be ignored any longer! WE THE PEOPLE ARE TAKING OUR GOVERNMENT BACK!
Many of you have tried to belittle the protesters and make them somehow feel guilty for exercising their right to protest corruption in our government and corporations.
Our own elected officials have tried to belittle us and have called us names. Eric Cantor calls the 99% an "angry mob" and then back pedals a few days later, after he sees how strong we are becoming! Obama says he sees why there are protests and yet he offers no new solutions. Mitt Romney described the protests as "dangerous" and "class warfare." Herman Cain, not only told those Occupy protesters without a job to blame themselves for being unemployed, but also suggested the protests were a conspiracy "planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration."
On Friday morning, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor joined the chorus of doubters, even sounding fearful about the protests. At the Values Voter Summit here in Washington, DC, Cantor said, "I for one am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country. And believe it or not, some in this town have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans."
THESE ARE ELECTED PEOPLE THAT WORK FOR US! TALKING ABOUT THEIR FELLOWS AMERICANS LIKE THAT!! They have refused to do anything to solve the problems, THEY SEE NO PROBLEMS! They do not even see the problems in their own constituencies! They do NOT represent "The People" They have all been bought and paid for by the corporations and are waiting to see who gets the nod to be shipped to Washington D.C.
They see us and yet they still do not listen! WE NEED TO GET LOUDER I GUESS!
Many have stooped to childish name calling and idle threats against the protesters, they have tried putting false words out, saying they were official documents from the Occupy Wall Street protest, trying to convince everyone we were not organized and they said we were wasting our time because protests don't work, etc. etc., and yet, we all not only persisted, in spite of your constant badgering, lying and false rumors, but, now our numbers are proving that we are doing the right things!
No sane person can deny what the 99% have seen with their own eyes and experienced in our own lives! Every person that works to earn a living (the 99%) will benefit from the protesters efforts!
951 cities to date and this is only since Sept 17th.! Our message WILL be heard! This is snowballing faster than even I could imagine. This will continue to grow as time passes too! Plans have been made into next year for the protests and yes it will be a long cold winter for everyone, but we will not be defeated due to some weather or anything else!
Soon the police and governments will resort to violence to try to stop the protests, it has already started in a few cities. Why are they afraid of the people? WHY ARE THEY AFRAID OF HAVING THE PEOPLE ORGANIZE?
This proves that they are trying to stop our message from getting out. This proves that they are afraid that their corruption will be plainly exposed to the world!
The corrupt governments and corporations are very afraid that THE PEOPLE are organizing and making their own agenda. They are afraid that the corporatism will be changed back to capitalism. They are afraid that the billions they have invested in elections around the world have been wasted! THEY ARE AFRAID OF BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS OF THE PAST! They are afraid that the people will demand justice! They are afraid because they know that they cannot stop us!
Their fears are justified.
They have much to loose and 99% of the people are coming looking for them! We the people are looking for justice with a Vengence! You all should have expected this!
We told you this was coming, Why didn't you listen to the warnings?
Sammy; Well put and right on. I am 79 and I am delighted to see our young people stand up. I will give all support that I can. Hopefully you are right and this cannot be contained. People are waking up to how banking and a corrupt corporate system is raping them.
God bless our protesters and let's back them up with millions in the streets. Both parties are obviously owned and they will become irrelevant if they continue to ignore our people.
Back in 2009 I was very angry that I could not find a job and many other things, so I put down what I was feeling on paper, and that Poem was it. Thanks again
I also want to thank you for your words of kindness and support. It is great to know that the older Americans are supporting this too! We value your approval and support!
We are certain that we are doing the right thing in confronting the corruption in our government and corporations head on, and exposing it to the world for everyone to inspect and pick apart, it IS driving them crazy! They are trying to escalate the violence so that they can simply throw the protesters in jail, but we will not fall for that!
I think this is going to continue to grow as time goes on. There are too many good people involved in the protests around America and the world that will not allow The will of the people to be recognized. They might think they can control us, but they have no idea what they are up against! WE ARE THE 99%, please keep us in your prayers!
Governments should fear the people, the people should never fear their government!
It’s amazing how someone who has been dead for 183 years could have such great insight and wisdom. It’s a shame any government has not taken his words to heart.
A Good Quote
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
"Every generation needs a new revolution." – Thomas Jefferson
This is why I am taking A Stand , And Why We Are In The Trouble we are in today, To Everyone, read your history, if you do then you will be wise.
wow how long before the shooting starts? you know if people would just stop buy the products these guy are sell that would hurt them more then these protest. I want to know what happens when these big companies who own the the cell phone companies, the power companies, the oil companies , and so on shut down? how long before people start killing each other.
Actually, I have a rudimetary understanding of Italian, but if you ahd done it in German or Spanish, I would have understood more, so let's not knock my education.
Leave it to the Italians to use their emotions instead of their brains and start hollering give us money. Unfortunately revolution is at hand because the greedy gut rich will not restructure their profit machine and the Congress will not restructure the laws to allow them to do it. The end result will be a bloody revolution and if the global rulers win they will enact an oppressive regime on the world the likes we have only seen in the past regimes of Hitler Stalin and the Communists regimes. Only the future generations will have no place to run and hide from it. Be careful protesters what strategies you use in your plans. Beware of those who may in fact be sent into discredit the movement and provide fodder for a military crackdown. I pray for your safety and success for a cleaner more ethical society and government.
You sound schizophrenic. In your first sentence you bad mouth the young people (who cares what part of the world) for doing something and then speak in favor of the movement.
BTW your words also seem to embellish things a bit. Something conspiracy freaks would enjoy.
Greg you obviously have a reading comprehension problem. Being behind a movement but not condoning what these youth did in Milan is not schizophrenic it is using good judgement. In addition, being aware that people may be sent in to hijack or discredit a movement is also common sense and if you study the beginnings of past revolutions this strategy of discrediting has been used many times. If I were to apply your logic then if I were to vote for a particular party then I should get behind whatever they do whether I agree with it or not. That is nothing short of slavery to a party regardless of what it does. With regards to your conspiracy theorist jab really all you have to do is look at history and you will see how my warnings are not only possible scenarios but realistic in that we should be on our guard. People like you always ignore all the warnings and signs and then when things fall apart your the first to resort to violent behavior in the defense of your master. Get off you patriarchal butt and join other Americans trying to clean up America.
Don't see anywhere in my statements you could derive anything related to "sticking to a party regardless of my beliefs". WTF. The way you worded it is how I understood it. Your remarks haven't change my opinon.
No people of my generation (Enron president for example) decided that money is the most important thing regardless of who it affects. I don't support these crooked fks. I think we need to kick a$$ on getting more of these aholes in jail.
Well Greg you need to work then on your analysis methods. You label me a schizophrenic because I see problems with the Milan protesters methods of protest and caution people as to the backlash that could come from such behavior and all you can do is isolate a small part of my remarks and take them out of context and think you have arrived at a logical debate. There are four corner stones of the rational model so if you study that first and then you won't need to resort to lame stereotypes and name calling remarks to make yourself feel like a man.
I agree with Greg. Your first post did sound schizophrenic, although your second seemed to spell out what you meant to say more clearly. And I don't see that it's Greg doing the name calling.
You don't see Greg using profanity or labeling someone as schizophrenic as inappropriate or as name calling? Well I can imagine how your analytic skills work and I was clear in my first post but people looking to attack a poster usually don't look at what people are writing but what they want to see. Both of you could go back to school and get a better education. You could start by looking up what schizophrenia means. Oh and by better education I mean going into the stacks and attaining analytic skills gained from in depth studies.. Most American schools today have been using a cheap rote method of learning and from both your remarks it looks like the only type of analysis you can use is one that isolates takes out of context and then tries to insult . Go cut your teeth on someone else.
Good grief, what is wrong with you? First you insult Greg's reading comprehension skills, then his manhood, and now me because I agree with his assessment of your first post. If two people misinterpreted your original intent, don't you think it more appropriate to examine your own prose instead of assuming we're both wrong?
But no, you'd rather call me uneducated and apparently too shallow to understand your great words. Heaven forbid you even consider any alternative explanation for our misunderstanding. Clearly it's all our fault.
Good grief Greg can call someone schizophrenic advocate kicking a__— (Profanity and Violence) use symbols like WTF and you think something is wrong with me because you can't understand a reasonable assessment of of the potential problems of using violence in Milan's youth protests? Like I said go cut your teeth elsewhere you both need to grow up and learn to be more polite if you wish your feelings to be handled with kid gloves. I have not indulged in name calling or labeling. I have not used profanity. I have questioned your analytic skills and told you to educate yourself. I have identified a sad patriarchal strategy of isolating taking out of context and then humiliating that person and in effect turned it back on the original perpetrator. Do you like it? Given your response I would say you do not so I would suggest you stop using this strategy and be more respectful if you wish to be respected.
Oh and one more thing Greg has a very nasty habit of using ugly stereotypes to label people. This is not the first time he has resorted to this strategy. If you jump on that band wagon then your prose will be the one that is shallow and without value.
This is pointless. I have no intention of feeding your superiority complex, so go ahead and write an essay about how Greg and I have wronged you. If nothing else, it'll at least make you feel better.
As for Greg, I know nothing of him. I simply agreed with his assessment of your initial post.
The Real Chris This started with Greg's ugly stereotyping and quite frankly the vine has way too much of this ugly strategy as well as the use of profanity on it. This is something that we need less of and more thoughtful and respectful discourse is needed. I really don't enjoy trying to teach these boys a lesson in manners but good grief as long as they think they can act this way and get away with it they will get worse. I have seen the most appalling behaviors and there are rules on the vine about profanity etc. We may all want to support the protesters but some of us are thinking with our rational minds and will not use this movement to dump our hostility on other people.
Wats wrong with people getting a little emotional about being raped and finall conimg to gather to resist. I am 79 and joyful about this uprising. I am joining those in my city And if some one attacks Goldman Sachs in any way the deserve it. The have done more damage than all terrorist combined. It's time they had something to fear.
We have millions that are overworked and under paid. Mahy of them are supressed by fear and afraid to express their feelings and frustrations. I hope these protes grow so large that the pigs become afraid. They really want change otherwise.
When the CEO of Disney made 600 million in salary and God knows what in bonuses he had children in Hiti working for 12 cents an hour. I hope I live to see the day when him and all his kind are afraid.
Big and worthwile change is never easy. Bring it on! God bless those who have the courage and values to stand agains evil.
No dejes que los bastardos te desanime! (words to live by!)
"'The establishment is invincible.' 'Protesting is useless.' 'You'll never change anything.' If everyone in the world believed that, then every single country in the world would still be kept in poverty by a ruling monarchy. That's a fact." -Anonymous
Frankwhile I respect your sentiments I am concerned that at this stage of the movement these violent protests are playing into the hands of greedy guts global rulers. I want justice for the oppressed people of the world but I think going up against the military is a bad idea at this point. The movement needs to grow until the majority of of people in our country are participating rather than a small minority. I think strategy is necessary if the movement is not crushed the way the peace movement was suppressed and finally stopped during the sixties and seventies. The movement then did bring about some positive change but not a lasting change. This movement has the potential to have a lasting change.
sammy your analogy is incorrect. You try to reduce my argument for caution to a position of hopelessness and that shows an emotional response that lacks maturity. Now is not the time for emotion but clear rational thinking and smart strategies to make this movement bring about positive lasting change.
All I said was that I understood what you had posted at the top of the thread, and I agree with you! The movement MUST remain peaceful!
Hopefully our governments do not let this get out of hand and act quickly to make the changes needed.
The movement will NOT be ignored though! No telling what will happen if the governments start tormenting them or trying to stop them by force! This isn't just going to fade away into the sunset when the next big news story comes around! We, the 99%, will not allow that to happen!
So far all of the violence has come from the police and there have been very few stories come out that blame the protester for initiating any violence. At least in America anyway! The other countries could very well turn violent due to their governments and the use of force against the crowds. The situation is different in every country!
It won't be pretty for anyone if the violence comes to America! Our government needs to definately worry about that!
Sammy I understand your mindset now and am glad you made your position clear I reread you post just to make sure but no where does it say that you agreed with me.. I think if clear heads prevail and a smart strategy is employed that hope indeed could spread this movement to include the the vast majority of Americans. I think it is time for this movement to begin organizing the movement to include open debates with the goal of developing a legitimate third party with clear guidelines that make their candidates legally responsible to remain true to platform agendas. People identify with power figures either willingly or through intimidation. True loyalty though is gained through respect and trust. Until the movement has a third party working for it that is seen by most Americans as viable then any changes will be small and easily reversed.
This is so awesome. Goldman Sachs, those rat bastards deserve everything they get. Keep up the pressure. This movement has spread around the world and I hope shortly that these corporate and banking theives are run out on a rail.
Really, Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest scum organizations in the world. They have been manipulating the commodities market and driving up the price of gas and food on hurting people. There is nothing they want do and they use both parties.
I agree. I want to see these guys on trial for theft and lose everything they have stolen to the point that they just want to commit suicide. Think about how many people have lost their jobs, homes and retirement because of all this. At the very least I want those Goldman Sachs idiots to feel that kind of stress and pain. I just hope the protesters don't roll over and take some deal that the government/financial industry never makes good on. If it comes to that I want to see blood in the street. no joke
sammy , you are right, although most these bafoons are purely of the liberal ilk with a marxist twist , they may not ALL be followers of socialism and anarchy , some may very well be followers of the cult of stupidity , thanks for bringing that up
oh , and since you brought it , yes , they and their "movement" are very trivial , in fact they remind me of a "movement" that usually gets flushed
Matt , better lump your man Obama in there with them , after all they are pulling his strings and "advising" him at every turn , pretty cool though that they must have "trapped" a liberal/socialist in their snare of criminality
Now if you have any sense at all you would have stopped there instead of continuing your rant, proving to everyone what type of person you are! Your constant name calling is showing your juvenile thinking about your fellow man. It also shows your elementary reasoning skills and vocabulary.
Nobody has ever heard of your "cult of stupidity" that you speak of. You must be their PR person!
Do you think that anyone is being hurt beside you, and your reputation, by your hanging labels on everyone? You know who does that kind of stuff here on Newsvine don't you? TROLLS DO! ...and look at that, YOU are a new reg.! LMAO you might as well go get yet another newsvine account now!
So it finally comes out! ...and the shoe fits you perfectly too!
What do you hope to accomplish by coming on every thread on Newsvine and trying to belittle this movement and twist it into something that clearly is not? If you're craving attention that much you should get a dog! NO on second thought DO NOT GET A DOG! (you'll probably just abuse it)
describing a persons obvious political and personal philosophy and mantra is name calling?...interesting
have you read your man Obama's books?...enlightening read , try it
I laid some facts at your feet about the Prez and his advisors and cabinet members and you throw out the tired and played "troll" retort?...who is doing the name calling? ...funny man
enlighten usbecause the fleabaggers sure haven't...what is their "movement" about , specifically , how can I get with it if I don't know what it is? , just jumping on board would tend to make one seem like a , well , leming....shoe meet other foot
Trolls, as shown above, call people names. Demonstrated right here on Newsvine by Harry blank! Trolls also often suffer from foot in mouth disease as in this case with Harry Blank. Foot plainly stuck in mouth.
don't you know Super Sammy that refering to those "IN" the topic article or those of the opposing party is NOT an issue here on newsvine , as evidenced by the multitude of posts doing it (especially if you are a lib and talking about any consrvative) , since non of my posts were directed at YOU as per the COH , you really don't have much of a leg to stand on
thanks for allowing me to help you understand what has been a carefully adopted method here on Newsvine
but back to the topic , just because you went to an "occupy" smellout doesn't mean that you get to take all posts that you don't like as personal attacks against YOU , what is your/their message ? , what is your point ? , what do you propose to change and how do you propose to change it? , what will be the results of said change and how have you quantified it? , how do you intend to measure that "change"? , what will be the effects of your requested changes? , until you/they can answer at least a minimum of questions in some coherent and cohesive manner it is just a bunch of crybaby ner-do wells thinking they can perpetuate their "something for nothing" mantra
Derivitives are still ticking, ticking, ticking away. The governments will not disclose the total value ticking away. Goldman Sachs salesman tried to unload them akk on the free Euro nations with the ratings of A provided by their buddies at Standard and Poors.
No. Perhaps in your narrow world-view, that's what you choose to see. Try again. They are protesting a broken, corrupt system that has morphed into a distorted shadow of what was once a healthy capitalist system.
You're the only one to said that. I don't believe the young people are. Do you really think they would get any support if they did? On second thought I don't care to hear your response. Read what Steel toed Boot said above. I think he summed it up nicely.
If they were protesting the system then they would be attacking both democrats and republicans. But instead the Democrats are trying to push this into partisanship battle. Greed affects Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc... You'll get more respect from me if you make sure you displace your anger equally. Until then you're just more brainwashed sheep doing the master's bidding. Six out of the top 10 richest politicians are Democrats. Obama administration was responsible for TARP bailouts. But since Bill Clinton's "House for Every American" policy caused the housing/mortgage Obama was obliged to make sure all the banks got their money with little to no oversight.
Sure ed. Every protester should be at home building the better mouse trap so they can all become rich.
Since your going to stereotype every single protester as a lazy bum living off of handouts, that means we can throw some stereotypes your way too, correct?
When you can have a thought that is your own and not something you heard on TV you may be taken seriously. Then again, your mind is made up not matter what the truth is, correct?
stop the madening, this isn't about Obama. The fact that it has become a global movement should tell you that. OWS isn't seeking any political affiliation, some Dems happen to agree with the protestors. Decry the unions all you want, but they helped build this nation into the greatness it was. Without them the huge middle-class we once had would not have happened. This movemnet is about the 1% owning most of the world and the politicians, so the 99% get little to no say in anything that happens across the globe. IF you want soome ideas that the OWS needs to be for, I'll provide you with that: http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/679920/matt_taibbi%3A_5_things_wall_street_protesters_should_demand_of_the_1/#paragraph3
If the protestors across the globe can use these reasons as their demands, then they can make the change we need, since no politician in America now will do it, the people have to.
The Europeans are going to protest because austerity measures are heading their way and they are getting started early and also so they can quit before it gets cold and snowy out
Deb, if you read the article, this goes beyond just Europe, New Zealanders are also getting involved (part of Australian continent), and Asia is also trying to get into it.
"We'd might like to have jobs" is more like it. Or "We might like you to be prosecuted for stealing our savings and destroying our dreams." Or "Stop the entire US government from becoming even more of a big slimy whorehouse."
As a former finance professional, I tell you YES, the system is predatory, rigged against the middle and working classes, and the time is now to collapse it.
Wide-scale DEBTORS’ REVOLT — DEFAULT-EN-MASSE is the answer, or at least part of it.
The fact remains that the black hole of debt will destroy the working and middle classes. These “contracts” are not inviolable things; they were made during a *different era*, a *different economy*, and the ability to pay them back has evaporated. Therefore, cancel student and other types of predatory debt, or the revolt en-masse will occur, and soon.
The momentum grows. Join us. Walk away from your debt instruments and help speed up the desirable collapse of the predatory banking system. Rebuild from there, under fair rules – responsible capitalism that recognizes the need for a economically strong workforce and middle class.
DEBTORS’ REVOLT – DEFAULT EN MASSE. The critical mass is closer than you think.
And to the folks who will immediately answer with "pay what you owe. end of story!", let me just preempt by answering that the analysis is more structural and macro in scope than that. It's not just a matter of whose "fault" it is - regardless of that, it's become a macroscale systemic distortion that, if allowed to continue, will prevent any sort of mobility in the long term. We, as a nation, need to simply suck it up, recognize that these contracts were made in what is essentially a different economic era, and recognize that they are incompatible with the new situation. It has to simply be zeroed.
As a former finance professional, I tell you YES, the system is predatory, rigged against the middle and working classes, and the time is now to collapse it.
As much as I agree with your sentiment, I can't go along with collapsing it. Replacing it yes. There are too many people that are vulnerable to a collapse and I am not referring to any of those the system is rigged to favor. They can go straight to hell for all I care. It is the retirees, college savings, and those nearing retirement that I am talking about. Something has to be done to protect these average people before it is brought down. Kind of like completing the new factory before shuttering and demolishing the old one.
How is it rigged? I decided I wanted to better and I am by running my own business and working full time and I love it. I can make all I want and just have to do something other than sit on my butt and complain.
I wish it were that easy. If I were to just walk away from my student loans then my credit would be shot, they would garnish my wages, I could not get a loan for anything, and I could not get a job because most check your credit these days. I think we should simply has a mass run of people closing their accounts on all the major banks to begin with. I'm so sad that I had to become an adult during these days. You will soon see a rise in domestic terrorism I fear as people have had enough.
stop the madening if you really payed attention you would see that the protesters did not endorse democrats or republicans. they dont agree with either group. what they say is that both groups are in corporations pockets. that big money and lobbying needs to get out of govt.
I would say your assessment is accurate Eric and lets hope and work toward the direction staying away from the lefties and righties as nothing but a bickering dead end will be found there.
You know your comments are starting to piss off important people when MSNBC starts making it impossible to post a comment. But my question is this; who are these cops who are so quick to beat on a protester carrying an American flag? Here is a wake up America's finest, if you are willing to arrest a peaceful protester you are not a cop you are a PIG!!! And history will remember your children the same way.
I also worked in the financial industry, and I've tried to explain to people how the economy more than a decade ago allowed people to afford the items they purchased, homes, cars etc.
Most people at the time didn't see or know the financial disasters to come were imminent. They didn't know they'd be out of work or in lesser paying jobs for months, even a year or two at a time.
Worse, they didn't foresee the fact that so many jobs now require BAs, MBAs, and the like to acquire them, jobs that were considered on the job training twenty years ago, or apprenticeships are now four year degrees.
That's rigged too against the middle and working class.
It's all set up to squeeze as much for as little as possible out of consumers and workers. People do need to wake up to that, and if so many people from wealthy backgrounds and financial jobs are saying it... It's a genuine problem.
The Europeans have always had better riots and demonstrations than us Americans.
Something to reflect upon when the @!$%# really does hit the fan. The top 6 financial institutions in the US control 65% or our GDP. If you think that is a good situation then you need to have your head examined. If we don't stop the radical consolidation of wealth in this country we are screwed. It's just a matter of time.
Tht's the difference between capitalism and feudalism...evolution vs revolution...and also the reason why the Europeans are drifting aimlessly through the sea of imbecility.
As if we are better off as adults, trying to mend the world to our whims. Destroying and rebuilding seems to be our mantra these days. I would rather fix our world before talking about Europe or Africa or developing nations.
I would consider our system a rigged capitalism not capitalism in its purest sense.
And stop branding people as libs, dems, repubs if they disagree with your view point, you royal dumps.
The top 6 financial institutions in the US do not "control" 65% of GDP. Their ASSETS are equal to about 60% though. That's not really saying much... Maybe that is what you meant to say. I'm not going to do all the math, but collectively they probably MAKE UP about 3% of GDP.
mycorner, just for clarification, did you mean you would rather fix our coutry (you said world) before talking about Europe (as Europe is part of this world)? And FYI, pure capitalism will not work for the same reason true communism will not work (at least as humanity is now), because we have no way of reigning in on human greed.
And who do you expect to eat the loss? There is nothing "simple" about it. You are talking about the basics in human nature... to acquire and keep.
If all these people have their debts zeroed will they be willing to start at a job making minimum wage, because that is what the economy will bear? Or will they then protest that they want what they expected to get with that degree?
When they get paid, are they willing to have a quarter of it taken for taxes for those unwilling or unable to work? I think your "simple" answer is bovine feces.
When it hits the fan, the people will look for those who caused the misery, through their greed. Sooner or later those people will pay and many innocent people will also pay.
I got suckered into temping back in the mid 80's along with 10's of thousands of others. Better to work at something than not at all right?
As a corporate paralegal, I was paid $15 per hour by a law firm that charged $125 to $150 for my work. I had no benefits. Sick of being exploited like that I went back to college. Several years later and a MA to show for it I spent a year and a half trying to get a living wage job. Finally I succumbed to desperate measures and agreed to teach in a community college. Even though I've taught more than I'm allowed to under contract (doing as so many others do and bouncing between several different colleges in different counties) and teaching 4 quarters every year, I've yet to gross $18k. Over 80% of college professors in the US are adjuncts (part-time) making about this, and we usually do so without any benefits.
Besides service sector jobs, what's left in the US?
While I'm pretty cynical about the effect of protesting in this country, I'm even more disillusioned by our political system. If the crooks hadn't written the legislation themselves, they'd all be doing white-color criminal jail time by now.
I guess Barney Franks Idea that forcing banks to make loans for low income families wasn't such a good idea after all.
I wonder if God has a lighting bolt with ole Barneys name on it. If it happened I wouldn't bat an eye. That POS LIED and Maxine waters LIED in 2003 when this could have been stopped. But the pack mentality of NO NOT US in DC hid the truth to keep power.
As they grow in numbers the 1% holding on to power will start to flee their offices and search for safe haven. Since this is a worldwide protest, they will have no where to hide. If Goldman in Milan is the epicenter NY is Ground Zero
I hope Goldman Sachs remembers this when it come time to donate another million to the Obama campaign. Remember Democrats it's just the beginning, now that they are doing it overseas it's just a matter of time before our morons do the same. Very dangerous game this President plays very dangerous.
3rdpartyadvocate, you're a fraud. it's becomming all too common that republicans say they're for a "3rd party" or that they're not republicans, but all they do is spout republican talking points and criticize dems. kentucky fried chicken can call it self KFC but it's still fried..... and horrible for us like all your tired ideas. tool.
and the funny thing it is our president started the hate, i have a friend that heard things from a government worker two years ago and so far everything has come true, jobless, moneyless, can't work, insurance going sky high, banks taking away your homes, all because this piece of crap in the whitehouse. scary how all this is setting up, all this man said is watch your belongings and buy guns to protect yourself. people are getting hungry and they will start to help themselves. what a shame what our government can become with an @!$%# running things, and he thinks he is getting in office again, how sick people are.
If there is 9% unemployment would that not mean that 91% are employed?? There are several countries in Europe that have 24% unemployment. I think this administration is fanning the flames in hopes that it will help the incompetent people get reelected. Class warfare is very effective to make people forget about what is really going on.
Deb we do not have 9% unemployment. Those numbers are based on those on unemployment. Try closer to 20-25%. There are millions no longer on unemployment or who were fired for cause. Those people are unaccounted for in their "9%".
The ruling class in general are all guily of stealing from the punlic. Obama is on par with Marcos for plundering the public tresuary for his cronies. These NYC idiots want him reelected. They are useful idiots for the left wing. They cry about tuition but no march on the universities and the bloated administration there.. They march on rich businessmen but leave George Soros alone? Bunch of moochers and weak minded , propaganda filled lazy scum looking for excuses for their failure. Most failures need look no farther than the mirror for their enemy
Bunch of moochers and weak minded , propaganda filled lazy scum looking for excuses for their failure.
You are very uninformed! How do you explain all of the protests in every city, all over the world in support of the Occupy Wall Street protest? What, the whole world is "useful idiots"?
This is not something that can be trivialized to a political level. Obama is not our chosen leader, WE have NO need, want or desire to be associated with any political party.
How foolish are you to be calling your fellow Americans names? What makes you so much better than 99% of the world!
All you did was to show us your 4th grade reasoning skills and intelligence level. It also says much for the way you feel about your fellow Americans! You are showing Hatred, Greed and fear!
"You got yours, hell with them", right? Keep in mind that there are many young college graduates that were born and raised into this that didn't have a say until now!
They're out of school and have all kinds of debt because of getting that education, that corporations require, only to find no jobs. Their parents have lost most of what they had saved towards retirement. If the parents still owe on their home, they are probably 2 paychecks away from having their home foreclosed on.
They are searching for work, but there is nobody hiring them. They have the education and degree to prove it, but there are no available positions.
Doesn't bother you though! That's because YOU think YOU are so much better than everyone else! You got yours! What you haven't realized yet though is that your way of thinking is the root of the problems!
You are correct about the mirror though, go have a look!
We need to be the change we wish to see in the world.
3rdparty - I suppose it is martial law not marshall law. First the wise crack about Gandhi and now this. I am losing faith in you man along with our two other parties!
that was a "play" on words including a little sarcasm...one would have thought that the "more highly educated" liberals would have been able to grasp that...isn't it cool?!
The MAJORITY of these people are simply asking for things to be the way they used to be, in the "good old days' You remember...the days when people actually spoke the truth, and you could earn an honest days wages if you were willing to work. Now days, there are thousands in line for ONE janitor job. I applaud these people and hope it spreads throughout the ENTIRE World.!!! Lest we forget, this is EXACTLY how this once great Nation was formed...beginning with protest.
living in our means is the best way to live, i think alot of people that bought homes and lost them cuz they wanted more and couldn't afford them. borrow aganst your home is a terrible thing when you can't afford to pay it back, all sounds so easy until you get laid off work.
I lived within my means, I owe nothing to credit cards, mortgages or other debt. I am a minimalist. I don't need lots of things to make me happy and still I am affected by the crisis.
Don't worry fellas. It will come to you or people you love probably sooner rather than later.
GOVERNMENT IS THE POBLEM. INSTEAD OF STANDING BY THE CONSTITUTION THEY TAKE BRIBES / CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS AND THEY EITHER GIVE HUGE BAILOUTS OR THEY GRANT RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY FROM PROSECUTION, NOW HERE’S THE REAL QUESTION! WHAT IS WORSE, THE GREEDY BANKS THAT PAY THE BRIBES OR THE CORRUPT POLITCIANS THAT CLAIM TO BE PUBLIC SEARVANTS THAT TAKE THE BRIBES AND SELL OUT THE PEOPLE.
SBX211 Retro Active Immunity given to California judges for openly taking bribes. Judges are employees of the state they receive their pay and benefits from the state. The Los Angeles Superior court judges are currently receiving an additional $57.688,00 from the county of Los Angeles. there is no bigger user of the court than L.A. County.(A party to the case and has a financial interest in most cases in the courts) Those payments were found to be unconstitutional / illegal in Sturgeon vs L.A. County. after that decision the judges paid a lobbyist to pass SBX211 ( RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY )
SBX211 does not restore due process
SBX211 violates Article 1 section 9
SBX211 violates the 14th amendment (no equal protections)
SBX211 violate checks and balances between legislative and Judicial powers
Judges do not disclose the county payments at the onset of any trial where the county is either a party to the case or has a financial interest. (Judges violate Judicial codes of ethics)
Judges refuse to recuse themselves when requested under CCP170
Judges find themselves unbiased and then file an order striking statement.
In the year of 2010 alone $57,688.00 per year per judge X 460 judges = $26,709.544.00 paid to judges from L.A. County from tax payer money to only have the judges rule against the tax payer in favor of L.A. County or the County's interest. THE BRIBES WORK.
HISTORY OF RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY IN THE UNITED STATES
1. given for unconstitutional use of torture
2. given for illegal merger of banks (we can see the effects of that now)
3. given to telecom company for illegal wire taps. (Fisa bill that led to the patriot act)
4. SBX211 given to Judges for taking bribes.
SBX211 is evidence of conspiracy of the California legislative branch of government to cover up the multiple felony's committed by the Judicial branch of government. By an act of Legislation, California's judicial branch has admitted to be corrupt.
SECTION FROM SBX211
This bill would provide that no governmental entity, or officer or employee of a governmental entity, shall incur any liability or be subject to prosecution or disciplinary action because of benefits provided to a judge under the official action of a governmental entity prior to the effective date of this bill on the ground that those benefits were not authorized under law.
Good post people need to see this. Post this information again so that as many people see it as possible. take care. Oh you may wish to provide a more reader friendly explanation of the key points some of the readers will not understand and move on without understanding what this means.
Obama was right about one thing, America is soft and these protestors are living proof. Can't we just shoot em all in the head and say they were zombies? Halloween is right around the corner... no one in this country would miss them...
must be a bank president. or mommy an daddy still wipe your ass. obama got into something he can't handle and wants a second chance, god help us if he gets in in 12
Bman: If we're not careful, we're going to eventually get to the place where many of us wouldn't miss this country anymore.
Whos country is it? We used to know it was ours. Not so anymore. It belongs to some unknown group of ghouls who have the means to ante up beaucoup $$$, that insure their views and policies will be the ones foist upon us all. Shame on them.
Thank you......Supreme Court....for delivering this country and its ideals to the highest bidder. That makes this country yours....if you have the guts to defend it...and no longer ours.
The Supreme Court has indeed become the tool of the rich. GMO seeds and Monsanto patenting their seeds giving them the right to sue anyone whose crops have been infected with their unhealthy seeds as well as having to constantly buy their seeds has brought this country an unhealthy food source. In addition they are selling these crops as a life form but the Constitution clearly states you can not patent life. Bad science and corrupt business. Most of Europe has banned these seeds.
This is just one travesty of justice that the Supreme Court has perpetrated on American citizens. We need to limit these judges to one term and even limit the term limit to two years.
You can bet that the "Give us money!" slogan was actually put there by somebody who was either rich, or a banker - or by somebody who supports such people, just like you do - and it was done simply to make the protestors look bad.
Isn't that the way TPTB have always worked? Divide and conquer, then subjugate and brutalize!
i have not seen give us money in any of the demands. i have seen take the money away from politicians who get bribed from lobbyists and campaign donations.
As an American soldier, I've always found it disgustingly unpatriotic when I hear people make up childish names for our elected President, be he a Republican or a Democrat.
For better or worse, we, the People, elect them, and when you fail to respect the office itself, no matter who's in it, you disrespect the entire nation -- YOUR nation (for better or worse.) By mocking our leaders in such juvenile ways you truly mock us all, EVERY American, and yourself, in the eyes of the rest of the world. You reduce us all to mere laughing stock, for our choices.
Grow up and learn to discuss issues (and people) on their merits, or take your name-calling to the playground, where it belongs. In the military we're taught to respect the rank, if not the person wearing it, and there is some serious wisdom in and behind that, I think. Learn something from it, if you can.
I don't be grudge anyone who makes money and it is not important to these people don/t have a clue. but I am smart enough to know if we don't have wall street our economy it done. Hey they need to protest at the White House Odumbo received more money from Wall Street than Mac and I see no one bringing up the White House. Our government is corrupt and these people need to go to the source. These wall street clowns are at fault but lets have everyone share the blame. It this had been the Tea Party they would have been called traitors. Yes we live in a society that has a press that stinks!
I think the blame is just and correctly placed.
The unemployment rate in Italy is three times what it is here. There are no jobs. Wake up....
if banks worked hard they wouldn't have to be bailed out by bush and scumbags like you. Time to raise taxes on the rich!
Since they were students, I assume they study, or studied already. ;-)
Can you read AND understand English ?
You can't just "get a job" if there are no jobs! I can't believe people like you, you think your immune? It is only getting worse!
So now the Occupy movement has turned to breaking the law in their protest about how they believe banks broke the law. Pot, say hello to Kettle!
Italy, isn't that another of those failed socialistic society experiments like Greece? Only a step or two behind!
You are either totally heartless to the plight of those suffering through this economy, or a troll of the wealthy, or else you are stupid.
Why is it that every right-wing moron suddenly forgets about all the lay-offs over the last few years. We have people saying...
and
Yes... that's the problem.
Everyone loves OWS. Very amusing street theater. Please continue; the whole world is watching and laughing.
I love the Occupy With Marxists World protesters...otherwise known as FLEABAGGERS
ya gotta understand DJWilson2 is probably retired and had the good fortune of living through the best of times when he was working. Now that he's not, he's free to criticize everyone else.
I know of a rich person that has become exasperated with life for reasons he never had to do anything for himself or others, because he has too much money he doesn't realize.
Newly-independent
Last time I checked they were begging to get people in Alabama to help with the harvest. Then again that would be manual labor and not need that degree in Social Arts you have.
The sixties ended forty years ago; get a life.....and a job!
And you dare to call us lazy...
madd-dawg17,
Hell yea! That's the attitude that is going to save this country! THANK YOU!
WE will get through this!
They should have expected us! ;-)
Keith Stone...he said ENDED 40 years ago. Not started. And you're are right. He's wrong. They ended 41 years ago.
Sammy Sezso,
"Do you think someone that has $50,000 in college debt and a four year degree is going to start an illustrious career as a tomato picker in another state for minimum wage??"
haha...they could just default on their student loan like so many before them...nothing new
Harry Blank,
Do you think taking out $50,000 dollars in student debt gives you the right to a higher paying job than someone that doesn't take out $50,000 dollars in students loans or even go to college?
So many people right now thinking they are actually owed something for nothing it sometimes gets hard to tell who is being sarcastic and who is just plain looney enough to think they are owed something because they woke up before noon today.
true that Glory...I don't begrudge anyone who is actually "needy" as in disabled , or inflicted in any way , in fact I say give them double , but there isn't anything left to give them after the lamprey's and teet suckers who COULD fend for themselves choose not to ,
I say : if you put up a sign that says "Free Hamburgers" it ain't just the hungry that show up!
and I didn't need to be a smart azzzz
Is Goldman Sachs is also trying to bring down Italy?
we should ask Obama's boy Geithner....
Yes, like they helped to bring down Greece and the US.
stop the madening....no maybe we should ask Bush
Bush is an economic Einstein compared to the "orginizers" running the show in the administration
Harry Blank - a rather fitting name for you and your thought process.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
thanks!...
I am sick and tired of hearing About how bad Obama is and how bad Bush was, let me make that clear.
I personally think all these corrupted clowns in Washington need to be run out of town. Let me say why, when you have Obama and John Boehner smiling at one another playing a game of golf, at the same time the country is going down the toilet, that tells me one thing, We Are All Screwed!!!!, and it does not matter what affiliation or party you are with.
God bless you occupiers!
Thanks William For making My Point Clear !!!! This is why we are all Screwed !!
By The Way Nice Post. Tom And Lyn
Not sure if this link will show up, but George Carlin called it over 2 years ago:

Tom, I think George was a true visionary. Way ahead of his time. Look up some of his other stuff. This one is all chopped, but good stuff too.

RIP George - you should have run for office.
CAN YOU HEAR US YET?
Sammy Sezso
Let Me Just Say, I Could Not Have said It Better Myself, You My Friend are 100% On Target !!
Tom And Lyn
I wrote This Poem back In 2009, So I thought it was appropriate to post it here.
Get Out And Vote!
Are you tired of seeing our wallets empty at the end of the day.
Are you tired of seeing our greedy politicians sneak off with your pay.
Are you tired of seeing our money wasted on things that are fake.
Are you tired of seeing our money picked over like it was theirs to take.
Are you tired of seeing you owe more on your mortgage then your house is worth,
Are you tired of seeing you cant fine a job to keep up with your turf.
Get out your vote!
Get up and vote !
It’s no joke!
Get out and vote!
You know all it takes is for all of us to come together to take a stand,
for it’s "We The People" who have the upper hand.
So don’t just set there like a dead duck with empty pockets and bad luck,
get out your vote so we all can make a buck.
Are you tired of seeing were our country is headed.
Are you tired of seeing our children’s future indebted.
Are you tired of seeing everything you work hard for go up in smoke.
Are you tired of seeing our politicians spend our money like it’s some big joke.
Are you tired of seeing our politicians argue and keeping score,
when all " We The people" have to do is show them the door.
Get out your vote!
Get up and vote !
It’s no joke!
Get out and vote!
You know all it takes is for all of us to come together to take a stand,
for it’s "We The People" who have the upper hand.
So just remember next November when we all have our politicians in our hand,
That it’s " We The People" who will draw a big line in the sand.
Get out your vote!
Get up and vote !
It’s no joke!
Get out and vote!

Thank you for a great post.
Tom-898028,
Thank for the words of kindness.
The poem is great too every word is true! We'll have to keep it posted as the elections get closer!
WE are the 99%!
Thanks Sammy
Back in 2009 I was very angry that I could not find a job and many other things, so I put down what I was feeling on paper, and that Poem was it. Thanks again
Tom And Lyn
Frank Morton-2536216,
I also want to thank you for your words of kindness and support.
Sammy
Tom And Lyn
wow how long before the shooting starts? you know if people would just stop buy the products these guy are sell that would hurt them more then these protest. I want to know what happens when these big companies who own the the cell phone companies, the power companies, the oil companies , and so on shut down? how long before people start killing each other.
Ask the police, they are the ones that have the guns!
The protesters in America have been peaceful, so far.
Sta bene. Grazie amici!
Dude, not everyone speaks Italian.
Ciao amico di tutto il laghetto!
Chiedo scusa Brent-3019177
Non è molto educato!
Benvenuti a newsvine.
Actually, I have a rudimetary understanding of Italian, but if you ahd done it in German or Spanish, I would have understood more, so let's not knock my education.
I smell garlic...
LOL in the future lets avoid each other.
The funny part is I think you people all agree with each other.
Sorry for the errors. I am a one finger typist and rhe edit didn't work.
fight for freedom-2341533 I understood your post perfectly!
Now is not the time for emotion but clear rational thinking and smart strategies to make this movement bring about positive lasting change.
fight for freedom-2341533, where did I do that?
Until the movement has a third party working for it that is seen by most Americans as viable then any changes will be small and easily reversed.
fight for freedom-2341533 That will all come in due time.
This movement is still very young and will progress as it grows.
This is so awesome. Goldman Sachs, those rat bastards deserve everything they get. Keep up the pressure. This movement has spread around the world and I hope shortly that these corporate and banking theives are run out on a rail.
your man Obama has Goldman Sachs people in his cabinet and inner circle...did get just the "good ones"? interesting
Harry, Have you nothing but blank comments to contribute?
no , I have nothing but blank comments to contribute
are you saying Obama doesn't have any Goldman Sachs dorks in his admin?
interesting
YOUR man Obama??? Who says he's my man?
Are you trying to trivialize this movement down to a single political party?
Really, Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest scum organizations in the world. They have been manipulating the commodities market and driving up the price of gas and food on hurting people. There is nothing they want do and they use both parties.
Down with Goldman Sachs and all like them.
Foot plainly stuck in mouth.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll&defid=4047134
No more food from me Harry!
What will you call me because I deprived you of your food?! LOL!
Don't bother....... I'm done here.
don't you know Super Sammy that refering to those "IN" the topic article or those of the opposing party is NOT an issue here on newsvine , as evidenced by the multitude of posts doing it (especially if you are a lib and talking about any consrvative) , since non of my posts were directed at YOU as per the COH , you really don't have much of a leg to stand on
thanks for allowing me to help you understand what has been a carefully adopted method here on Newsvine
but back to the topic , just because you went to an "occupy" smellout doesn't mean that you get to take all posts that you don't like as personal attacks against YOU , what is your/their message ? , what is your point ? , what do you propose to change and how do you propose to change it? , what will be the results of said change and how have you quantified it? , how do you intend to measure that "change"? , what will be the effects of your requested changes? , until you/they can answer at least a minimum of questions in some coherent and cohesive manner it is just a bunch of crybaby ner-do wells thinking they can perpetuate their "something for nothing" mantra
Derivitives are still ticking, ticking, ticking away. The governments will not disclose the total value ticking away. Goldman Sachs salesman tried to unload them akk on the free Euro nations with the ratings of A provided by their buddies at Standard and Poors.
"Give us money!" Doesn't that pretty much sum up this entire "movement?"
Yesterday I read a great article on how to beat Wall street and show the world.
Build the next great thing and show them all, but wait the protestors can't then they would have to give up on somebody else supporting them.
No, its more like stop the greedy 1% from screwing the rest of us, 99%
P. S. What the hell is "madening?"
Melissa: Rock on, you have it exactly right.
"Stop the entire US government from becoming even more of a big slimy whorehouse."
ha...good one , that will happen in 2012 , when the lib stranglehold is released , isn't it cool?
Seems as though the "Quickening" is apon us.
Watched it as curiosity a few months ago, printed out the transcript last week, re-read it because of what is happening.
Scary, very scary.
How do you collapse a bank if everyone on the street has no money in the bank to withdrawl?
Strong ARMED ROBBERY?
so what are we to do? introduce the NEW WORLD ORDER dollar?.. over my dead body!
Over my dead body.
How is it rigged? I decided I wanted to better and I am by running my own business and working full time and I love it. I can make all I want and just have to do something other than sit on my butt and complain.
You sound like another loser looking to blame someone else for their greed and stupidity.
Anyone hold a knife to your throth and force you to borrow?
Walk away and go live in a cardboard box.
"As a former finance professional"
haha, drivle , prove it! , more like a Soros shill , keep up the exellent posts!
@Adam Smith
TOUCHE'
for the libs among us , that is French , which is in fact European ergo pertinent to the topic
@Bluelake
It has to simply be zeroed.
I am willing, and with my Master's I am working retail (part-time) at a bit over minimum, because that is what there is...
Try again.
Enough is enough.
May they all rot in hell.
Well said, Jai you. 加油 refuel
The World Aristocracy is under attack.....#OWS
Give us money or else, is what the banks said to us.
Loved to be bailed out again these banks, Christmas is around the corner, think about those big bonuses they will get.
As they grow in numbers the 1% holding on to power will start to flee their offices and search for safe haven. Since this is a worldwide protest, they will have no where to hide. If Goldman in Milan is the epicenter NY is Ground Zero
a world wide protest...hahahaha
Gandhi practiced civil disobedience, its the way to get things done when authority gets addicted to power and money.
You going to set yourself on fire eventually?
Gandhi didn't have to "set himself on fire" in order to accomplish his goals, and bring down the powers that be.
Unrelenting civil disobedience alone was more than sufficient.
don' worry it is going to get cold soon and the children will go back to their video games and mommy /daddy
I hope Goldman Sachs remembers this when it come time to donate another million to the Obama campaign. Remember Democrats it's just the beginning, now that they are doing it overseas it's just a matter of time before our morons do the same. Very dangerous game this President plays very dangerous.
Class warfare latent affects. I wonder if Nancy Pelosi is still scared someone is going to get killed?
3rd,
i wonder if Pelosi is worried that one of these people will ask for her wealth?
Every time she streches whats left of the skin on her face to open her pie hole it's a calculated lie.
Rather funny dems hate, loath, mostly ENVY the rich republican and give a pass to this rich witch and her dem ilk.
Disgusting bunch of do nothings but take take take.
Protests probably would not have happened if there were jobs to be had that would pay the bills.
And, the ecomony would not be in a mess if there were jobs in the United States (and elsewhere). Thus, there would be taxes going into the treasury.
3rd: Do you really think all the protesters are liberal Democrats.
Welcome to the Worldwide Wide Revolution
How long until world wide marshall law?
12-21-12
Bob, pretty good answer. Just as good as any 3rd party could come up with.
3rdparty - I suppose it is martial law not marshall law. First the wise crack about Gandhi and now this. I am losing faith in you man along with our two other parties!
@mycorner
I think you are wrong , if I am not mistaken a guy named Hank Marshall came up with that law
Harry, feel free to use a dictionary. mycorner was correct. That is how it is spelled.
Sorry Harry it "martial" law.
that was a "play" on words including a little sarcasm...one would have thought that the "more highly educated" liberals would have been able to grasp that...isn't it cool?!
I am not a liberal tyvm
The MAJORITY of these people are simply asking for things to be the way they used to be, in the "good old days' You remember...the days when people actually spoke the truth, and you could earn an honest days wages if you were willing to work. Now days, there are thousands in line for ONE janitor job. I applaud these people and hope it spreads throughout the ENTIRE World.!!! Lest we forget, this is EXACTLY how this once great Nation was formed...beginning with protest.
How come never felt victimized by banks or Wall Street?
How come I never wake up in the morning crying, "I am a victim"?
How come a schmuck like me, without a formal or "higher" education, is so happy?
Should I be out there protesting?
Am I missing something?
It all depends on what makes you happy. I have more than any money can buy.
What I cherish money can't buy.
All these people know is material. And they need lots of money to have it.
Because you lived within your means perhaps?
living in our means is the best way to live, i think alot of people that bought homes and lost them cuz they wanted more and couldn't afford them. borrow aganst your home is a terrible thing when you can't afford to pay it back, all sounds so easy until you get laid off work.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Probably not.
Yes, you probably are.
my guess is that you are over 50 (probably over 60). the dream won't be a reality for the rest of us
I lived within my means, I owe nothing to credit cards, mortgages or other debt.
Halloween is right around the corner... no one in this country would miss them...
must be a bank president. or mommy an daddy still wipe your ass. obama got into something he can't handle and wants a second chance, god help us if he gets in in 12
sure thing bman fire at myself and a bunch of other vets that are there. i dont think you will enjoy the result.
Money for doing nothing. Pretty much.
If bribery is proven tell obammy to jail them!
God bless you occupiers!
@ Ken Goldman
Tanberet -- As you can see, good luck with that one. You might as well be telling your dog how to work the Tivo.
I've been bringing it up too, libs change the subject! OBAMMY HAS THEM ON ANOTHER AGENDA DISTRACT DISTRACT
