Not a good idea at all. This is exactly how the Viet Nam conflict began - Kennedy sending in military advisors.
Is this the business of the USA? Hell no it isn't we have enough on our plate.we should bring ALL our troops home to protect our own borders and ask Eric Holder to stop supplying ak 47s and sniper rifles to narco terrorists. When will all this war nonsense stop? We need a new president that is not a corporate warrior!
your right peter.
What exactly is our national interest in getting involved in this?!?! We are not, nor can we afford to be the world's police force. This is not our fight!!! Let these countries deal with their own problems. We all know how things like this usually end. The military advisers we send over report back that the local forces are not up to the task and will take a long time to get there. The president then sends over more groups of trainers as well as equipment to help the local forces get up to speed. Of course the US forces are all there with the understanding that:
"The support provided by U.S. forces will enhance regional efforts against the LRA. However, although the U.S. forces are combat-equipped, they will only be providing information, advice, and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense," he said.
Then mission creep sets in and our trainers start participating in combat missions. Then the body bags start coming home and the president sends over more troops to "deal with the problem once and for all." Of course that does not work, particularly when fighting non-state actors who cross borders between nations, some of whom do not want US combat troops fighting on their soil.
We should just stay out of this before it ends up becoming yet another mess that we can not get ourselves out of gracefully. The LRA is not going to care that the US troops are only there as advisers. They will see them as an enemy since they are helping their enemy. US troops will get shot at and will wind up in combat in "self-defense." It is not our fight and we should not be sending US troops there to get shot at and killed when we have no national interest in being there.
Um, yeah, except we're not bailing out the French, of fighting against an ex-ally that adopted our Constitution, nor are propping up a puppet government or halting Communism and they're not backed by several other major countries.
Otherwise, you're right... it's just like Viet Nam.
POTUS Obama has us in more then enough wars.
He is no longer meeting the requirements of the Office of POTUS because he did NOT keep the Oath until he leaves that office as is required of all POTUS by the Constitution (unless we are no longer under the Constitution. Scary thought).
Nor is anyone in his present administration legally meeting the requirements of their positions for the same reasons. What part of "preserve", "Protect", and "defend" the US Constitution did all of them, including Obama not understand? Looks like all of it.
When it comes to projecting military power President Obama is beating Bush. The Washington Post reported that US had deployed Special Operations Forces in 75 countries, from South America to Central Asia (2010. Recently, however, US Special Operations Command spokesman Colonel Tim Nye says that on any given day, America's elite troops are working in about 70 countries, and that its country total by 2011 would be around 120.
The US is now involved in wars in six nations: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen.
There are military personnel deployed in other arc states, including Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates all host US military bases.
The CIA is reportedly building a secret base in the region for use in its expanded drone wars in Yemen and Somalia. It's also using already existing facilities in Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates for drone wars, and operating a clandestine base in Somalia where it runs indigenous agents and carries out counterterrorism training for local partners.
In addition the Obama administration has also arranged for the sale of weaponry to regimes in arc states across the Middle East, including Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Plus has been indoctrinating and schooling indigenous military partners through the State Department's and Pentagon's International Military Education and Training program. Last year, it provided training to more than 7,000 students from 130 countries.
Paul/Johnson 2012
They will end the wars, and Congress won't let Paul implement his more extreme ideas. We all win.
Yep, Mr President, find some new places to deploy our exhausted troops, while your staff is studying ways to reduce their retirement pay and medical benefits.
Oh great...first he arms the drug lords in mexico...now he's arming half the muslim countries in the middle east. Joe Biden said it best " The presidency of the United States does not lend itself to on the job training" . Undoubtedly the smartest thing to ever come out of that pie-hole.
This president won a Peace Prize and he's turning out to be one helluva war monger. So let me understand this....the Ugandans have been terrorized for 20 years by this gang, and we're just now getting into the fight? * head scratcher *
I can wait until Europe gets involved and sends their 2 Danish "advisers" so that can become a multi-national-global effort.
NO! N-O, do not do it. Stay out of all conflicts other than as a UN participant. What lousy timing.
I am all for a limit of 100 advisers in Africa if every single US soldier in towel head land is loaded up with their equipment and brought home.. No advisers no aid no weapons and no diplomats at all given to these idiots with their 2nd century thinking.. And while we are at it lets block every last person from these countries from stepping a single foot on our soil then send the ones that are here back where they came from..
This is crazy.
What happened to the payback to Iran? That is todays agenda.---Did Obama forget the critical issues that are in front of him.
This is another diversion from what is truly going on here in the US; the attempts to commit a Real Plan on how to prevent Terrorism on US Soil, by Rogue Countries who are hell bent using Nuclear Power (recklessness) to destroy our Country. It is imminent.
I think there are other things on the President’s mind. Radical Islamists with their “pocket size” armies are not only undermining many governments there but are taking over vast chunks of their countries. Unchecked, moderate governments will fall and Africa will become another captive of radical Islam. That’s what the President is trying to address and prevent! Adding to this, China is also expanding their interests on the African continent in a big way.
Amazing,
Even after the people of the USA say enough is enough..the mental midget Obama takes his war mongering on the road again.
2012 will not come soon enough
RON PAUL 2012
To address the libtards before they speak...Obama promised to have our troops out of Afghanistan..etcetc in one year..it is going on 4 and he has escalated all. Yes he escalated by 30% after he escalated by 100%..so yeah
I hope every soul he helps extinguish gets to torture him in hell.
Africans Islamic? They cannot handle democracy. There is going to be a LOT of beheaded Africans if why you think is true.
This is so condescending. How much do you know about current events in Africa? How much do you know about the history of the continent? How can you say that other people, across the world, who are the SAME as you and I, cannot "handle" democracy?
Peter17, Wasn't it Eisenhower who sent in the first advisers to Viet Nam? Of course there is a big difference there.
knine, you are right but now they are on the books. Let's see if he keeps focus and gets the target. Quote from Bush "I don't know where Bin Laden is, I really don't think about it much Nora." We need to bring all troops home, replenish the military and then cut it's funding in half.
I don't know who I should vote for but the fabulous nine + whoever they would choose as a running mate is far scarier then Obama.
wtw:
Radical Islam and the Islam Faith has already taken over. Old news. The largest religion in the World.
What about all the starvation in most African nations, Islamists stealing the aid; big money from Humanitarian Funds from all Countries (mostly the US), food and medicine.
What about Somalia? No Government. Look at all the Damage the Islamic faith of this country has done---
We're not going to War with any African country, except holding my breath, hopefully not N. Africa.
It is N. Africa, unchecked, and the Middle East, South and Western Asia (Iran) that needs immediate action from the President and our Government.
We are spread out way too far--Afghanistan needs to be left behind.
Has our President completely lost his mind??? WTH is he thinking??? Does he EVER listen to his people???? I can't believe what I just read....The Congo??? We are going to send our conventional warfare troops into the Congo??? So that they can get slaughtered? Why not Somalia??? Someone, anyone...enlighten me.
Just don’t forget the World is not and never was a “little emotional cuddly thing” many of us imagine lately. The World is more dangerous now than ever before. If you don’t move, adapt or keep up, you’ll get run over. Just take off your “rosy” glasses and look around.
Obama - Manages to take the wrong side of every issue - and manages to do it unilaterally every time!!
What happened to those 'fireside' chats to the Nation (or at least Congress) when a President has decided to use military force???
"Oh ya, by the way - we lobbed over 100 cruise missles into Libya last week; and did I mention I sent 100 troops into Congo yesterday?"
ENOUGH!!
Easy guys, they are just "advisers". I wonder what America would think if Iran sent over 100 "advisers" with machine guns to help with the situation in Palestine?
Colorblind:
Let's NOT get involved in Somalia---that will be another Afghanistan, Viet Nam, a war that will never end--
It's not where the US should start another War, it's how do we get out of the ones we are in--mainly Afghanistan, Iraq, partially Libya.
Iran has to be dealt with; how is the US going to directly get involved, or they will easily take over the US---this cannot be ignored. Iran, the Mother of all Evil now.
I notice that I don't see Feisty Redneck , Ewent , Toasty , Sandritch , etc. here decrying these actions
interesting
You are right. They have their tail between their legs.
Obama=Bush, no difference.
We've sent military advisers all over the world for many decades, mostly to keep our greedy self interests in check, (or try to).
I'm not for any war, I was against sending those few hundred thousand troops to Iraq when we did that, and I was chastised for not standing behind the President, and I was told I was unpatriotic.
But, let me get this straight, it's OK to start wars, but not try to help actual people who are being slaughtered?
Let's wait and see before making judgement. If we start sending troops, then I will be a nay sayer.
For those asking who is going to pay for this........look in the mirror. Cany wait till Obama's girl are old enough to enlist and go to war in one of Daddy's war zone's. Imagine how bad he would be if he didn't win a peace prize..........
Harry...
Good one...I wonder where the libbies are as well. Funny, they hated Bush for starting wars but back Barry...can we say hypocrites?
What is our national interest in Uganda, again?! Let's see.... Obama sent us to war in Libya so Europe can have cheap oil. I wonder what Barak is sending men to war for here and for whom? Certainly not for the U.S.A. Seems the Hypocrit in Chief is willing to let Americans die for every other nation's interests except ours. What a leader.
Seriously, I support a couple hundred SF advisers to clean up Africa. These murdering destabilizing thugs should have been dealt with 20 years ago.
However, It should be approved by congress! No limiting rules of engagement. Go in and eradicate them with superior weapons and firepower, and git out.
Does anyone really believe their are only 200? LOL!
And were going around the word increasing hostile actions while we are going to drastically reduce our defense budget? And the same people who want to rape the DOD want us to deploy everywhere? LOL!
Hawaii...I totally agree!! I just thought that Somalia, with all their kidnapping and pirating, might be more palatable to the American Public. My preference is as is yours...Bring our troops home and prepare for the inevitable conflict with Iran. Good post.
Right thing to do.
This sounds like genocide.
We should all be ashamed. Thugs everywhere should be on the lookout. This cannot stand.
WTF??? Why doesn't the First Turd suit up and go. If lucky he'll get killed and we'll live in peace. NO MORE WARS!!!
Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, and now Africa...that's war number 6, not counting the war on drugs being fought on the border with Mexico. Obama makes Cheney look peaceful.
this is nothing like Vietnam. Uganda has been free of colonial domination for a generation, and Ugandans have a vidid memory of repression under their home grown dictator Idi Amin. Uganda simple need help dealing with this renegade cult It will be tremendous PR for our country. Good will toward America is the most valualbe asset in the fight against Isamic militants. Before all you republicans go foaming at the mouth whenever Obama does anything, learn a little about Uganda. Talk to a real Ugandan, if you're lucky enough to meet one, like I did. They are a warm and family oriented culture and want to move into the modern world.
cantakenomore Comment collapsed by the community
Harry...
Good one...I wonder where the libbies are as well. Funny, they hated Bush for starting wars but back Barry...can we say hypocrites?
Colorblind:
Good to agree our comments together on this nutty plan---it is nutty---where is the Focus of Obama---he really doesn't want another Term--it is evident.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. In my first comment I almost backed up Obama before I had a chance to think about it, because I think the LRA is nothing but a pack of wild dogs that needs to be put down. In as much as I perceive this to be another White House cluster@!$%#, I agree with those who compare this latest development with Vietnam. It reeks of it. But the wholesale sadistic mass murder in the name of religion bull@!$%# needs to stop, weather it be for Christ or Allah.
Those psycho's in Africa aren't any better than Islamic psycho's. It's the one major issue Lefties bring up when anyone condemns the actions of Islamic extremists. No doubt Obama is laying the ground work for NATO, or worse, the U.N. Then the situation would really go to hell.
of course were sending in the Green Beret, er um advisors, because we always use Special Forces to train other armies. Oh, your really gonna like this, watch while we teach you how to make explosive and incendiary devices that you can submerge in water and use remote control cars to detonate on your enemy, and anyone else in the "click zone" as well.
ADVISORS.... Don't make me laugh HA Ha. (Danny- as played by John Travolta in Grease) is all I can see Obama saying.
What a joke. This leader of the Democratic Party now engages in 4 wars. Watch all the hypocritical liberals continue supporting him thought they claim to be against war and demonstrate against it if any non-Democrat wages it. Pathetic.
The lack of any kind of true knowledge of history, world politics, and the actions of past administrations in many of the above posts is truly astounding and somewhat embarrassing. Good gravy. But hey, we all have the right to voice our opinions, eh?
Another blatent constitutional violation by this president. The War Powers Act only allows him the authority to commit troops (and I don't care if he calls fully armed green berets "advisors"...they are troops) if the USA is directly threatened.
Not sure when this group of 200 decided to attack the United States but I must have missed that tidbit.
Impeach Barack Obama.
I am actually kind of a fan of this, but Obama needs to stop using the military as his personal thug force. If he gets the okay from Congress for this (which I actually think they would all agree to this), then get to it, send in a ton of troops, and show that wanna be thug cult who their daddy is. If not, pack up our stuff and come home. Obama got away with sh!tting all over the Constitution one too many times, and now he thinks it's alright. It's not.
Bottom line, this needed to be dealt with 20+ years ago. This is just another atempt to keep our eyes off of Holder lying to congress, Solyndra folding, the economy getting worse, and Obama's approval ratings in the toilet. The Iranian "hit man" story keeps getting larger and larger, and not in an informative way, in an "And he had a bomb.....and a gun....and rode a laser shark.....and shot electricity out of his eyes!" type of way. This is just the new diversion, and all it will cost us is billions of dollars and more troops lives. Welcome to the reign of Bush III.
This is a TRIBAL land. Kill one leader and another will pop up to take revenge on the first one we kill and do the same thing to a different tribe. This needs to be up front and transparent. We are sending our special forces on a mission to assassinate this guy. No need to call them advisers. You don't need advice to pull a trigger when your target is in the cross hairs. Is this what our President has become? Any bad men anywhere are on his list? It will be a long list and who suddenly made our President the ONE. This sound like something out of the Matrix. It is surreal. We are in such deep financial trouble and our President is just taking out people right and left. I'm totally good with the terrorist that have tried to harm American, but this is a regional problem and they need to deal with it....not with our "advice."
You'll notice, colorblind, that if another country were to decide Obama was the problem, the liberals would be screaming about what an outrage it is, and how they need to be dealt with. But as long as it's Obama composing the hit list, they seem to be okay with it.
I wonder where Cindy Sheehan is. I wonder why she's not out in front of the White House screaming "Warmonger" and "War Criminal" now. People swear up and down that she is "openly critical of Obama's foreign policy", but you never see MSDNC cover that.
LOL look at all the anti-Obama crowd up in arms. This is a small group of special forces training an ally force to combat the LRA. This is NOTHING like Vietnam, I suggest some serious education on the subject because most here seem to be completely lacking. The comparison is absolutely ridiculous. The training this special forces unit will provide will save thousands of lives, prevent rapes, murders, and other atrocities in the future. There may be nothing we "need" from these allies now, but you never know what the future holds. Best to ensure good standing should the "need" arise in the future. Those who think we do not need to involve ourselves in humanitarian causes are obviously not cut out for the world we live in today.
Chris...And another tribe will rise up and seek revenge for all the years of raping and pillaging and do the same thing to another tribe.
ALL WE ARE ASKING, IS GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!
No, I'm not a liberal. Their regional authorities need to do their jobs. They know what to do. They don't need our advice--they are corrupt. They need our cross hairs...and that is what they will get. This will turn out badly in the end. Their lives are so miserable all they have to live for is war. It is what they do. And...they will do it when we are long gone. Covert ops are called covert for a reason. Why advertise that we are coming for you? Just quietly make him and his barbarians go away.
Where are all the Liberals protesting these wars?
They've been posting in nearly every post above yours... but you just assumed they weren't liberals since they were against these wars.
Can you IMAGINE what the Liberal "useful idiots" would be doing if this were George Bush doing this?
Pretty much the same thing as they've been doing in every post prior to yours.
ABO (Anybody But Obama) 2012
Speaking of useful... nope, not gonna say it.
Chris you clearly fail to see the problem. We should not be going there for police work. these guys should have been wiped cleaned off the face of the earth decades ago by the Nations they are riding rough shod over. The UN should have done something LONG ago. This will not remain a tiny 100 man, boots on the ground mission. It is not a matter of if it but WHEN it escalates. We as a nation can not afford to be fighting on 4 war fronts or sustained the drain on our already depleted resources of troops, materials and money.
No matter how much you wrap it up in the nobel ideas of helping our fellow man, we should not be sending ANY military assistance there. Our troops are at the exhaustion point and Obama doesn't care.
Barry is making us far less safe from hostile acts on our own land. Wait and see, Obama supporters continue to defend his EPIC errors as if they were defending their inheritance. The more I see him doing this crap to weaken, divide, while ignoring Constitutional law (like getting permission to go into Libra and now Africa) burdening us with more taxes and more governmental interference in our personal lives the more I wonder if he is a real life Manchurian Candidate working to weaken us to the point of collapse and take over. Publicly he supports one group to win election, but uses his executive or legislative powers to assist an opposing group. No nation that I can find has ever fought on 4 war fronts and won, let alone survived if they tried.
Edmund Burke in a discussion of the French Revolution: A man full of warm, speculative benevolence may wish his society otherwise constituted than he finds it, but a good patriot and a true politician always considers how he shall make the most of the existing materials of his country. A disposition to preserve and an ability to improve, taken together, would be my standard of a statesman. Everything else is vulgar in the conception, perilous in the execution.
He wrote that over 200 years ago but it could apply to Obama's actions today.
I have to assume this decision was made because of the belief that radical islam is working in the area. not that this is a good decision.
the thing that bothers me most? the shoot outs in libia/s capital. didn't obama just call that a victory? now we have thrown another country into kaos with no real government. this is great!
as to the comment above calling special forces- some sort of typical soldier for typical nation vs nation fighting- you should learn more about those you label.
special forces are concidered - BY THE WORLD! - to be one of the most fierce and well trained groups in existence. when they come in to 'train' and only defend themselves, it means they will teach by taking african forces in to the jungle hunting this group. when they find them they will defend themselves until the enemy is dead.- they call SF's actions covert and special ops for a reason.
i don't support the action of sending them though. i do think it is funny that even bush jr realized we should not send our guys in- just give support- but your great obama sees this as the only option.
why is it, do you think, that this had to happen now? it has been going on for two decades and obama has been in office for nearly three years now.
I see the Obama haters are out early. I understand why he sent them and have no problem with it.
tactical45 -- Sure you do but if Bush did so you would howl. That's the definition of hypocrisy.
Obama just wants to take your minds off of Iran and the lousy economy.
The Poll numbers taken from the Vote do not seem correct. At first it was almost 70 per cent---and now 50 percent.
How could this be, when ALL the comments are negative on this subject.
No one wants to send Military again into other non threatening countries, but do want all the Military from the US to come back, and end the fighting.
????
He's getting a lot of flak from the likes of jesse jerkson, Sr and Jr, cornell west, whoopie goldberg, maxine waters, and the rest for not being Black enough....and now with the prospect of a 100% "African-American" being the GOP Nominee....Obama is in panic mode.....yeah, yeah, that's the ticket....I can send troops to somewhere in Africa....that will shore up the base with my brutha's and sista's ......
How about putting these 200 armed, green beret, "advisors" on the southern border and having them fight the insurgents there?
I have to admire his courage when Obama knows the hatred of the right wing will be inflamed by this action. He is a humanitarian first and a politician second. That's why he is our President and why we should support him.
From 2001 to 2008, every leftist in the country villified the military effort in Iraq because Iraq, although a major threat to the world under Saddam Hussein, was not directly responsible for attacking us on 9/11. I seem to have missed the event when people from central Africa attacked this country. Please enlighten me; when did it happen? Oh? It didn't? Then leftists should be up in arms (pun intended) about Obama's decision to send troops to Africa. Oh wait, I forgot. Obama's a Democrat and the Democrat Darling at that. Just as you have no longer seen or heard any further reports from the marxstream media about US military death counts in Iraq or seen anti-war demonstrations by wacko outfits like Code Pink since ½0/09, all you will hear from the useful idiot brigade in this case is overwhelming silence.
wow! Obama does do one thing incredibly well:
He's a mega-talent for doing exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time.
this man is going start WWIII
That may already be under way with the so-called "Arab Spring;" we are just letting things haphazardly happen in the world due to America's lack of leadership in the White House, and now, of all places, Africa. Why?
I may be wrong but I think this group is Christian and the ones we are going to help is Muslim. Anyone know for certain?
When Obama was elected, I loved him. I didn't think things would be perfect, but I thought things would get better.
After one year, I liked him. I still blamed Bush for our economic problems.
After two years, I was neutral. He didn't end the wars and he didn't create jobs, but at least he ended DADT and got Bin Laden.
Now, he has officially lost my vote in 2012. Instead of getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan, he expanded troops and started two new wars. Who knew Obama would match the military adventurism of the Bush's?
I'm voting for a Ron Paul/Gary Johnson ticket. Sorry, Mr. President.
this man is going start WWIII
100 troops now constitutes as starting WWIII??
we are just letting things haphazardly happen in the world
So we should be more involved? Or less involved?
I may be wrong but I think this group is Christian and the ones we are going to help is Muslim. Anyone know for certain?
You're wrong. Uganda is 84% Christian. The Lords Resistance Army is also Christian, but the founder believes he is a spokesperson for God...
Passiveobserver - He is getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our invovlement in Libya was as a true participant only in a multinational effort. I don't know about this one - I need more information and whether we have treaty obligations with any of these countries or the AU. I am impressed that he has made more progress against terrorists actually targeting this country with the use of small units and drones than the major wars we have expended lives and treasure to fight.
I am impressed that you ignored the fact that he hit Libya with NO approval from Congress (unlike Bush who at least got approval for Iraq). Theres something not right about this situation. Something certainly rubbing the wrong way about why this country should involve itself in another Somolia.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong. We do not need to get involved in Africa in any way.
Hope and Change....hope he gets booted from the white house and don't forget to change the locks.
Anyone but Obama in 2012.
Obama, that lame brain has got to GOOO....Could be a rescue of their ancestors???
Holly sh…..t get ready for more refugees from Uganda, just what we need-- Hummmm wonder if there friendly with the last bunch of Somali's in Minnesota—maybe they can bunk together—no no wait I think California is a better choice—Jerry Brown is running the show, I'm sure he know what to do with them; besides California needs a boost in there immigrant population—don't they?
Why do we insist on killing off our soldiers in ill-conceived wars? Could it be that we need to spend billions to make arms suppliers richer than God? Could it be that our military leaders slide into lucrative executive jobs at arms manufacturers upon retirement? When you fire off ordinates you have to replace them right? We keep on getting into conflicts while China keeps eating our lunch. China builds infrastructure in Africa. We send arms and soldiers. China gets resources for their efforts while we get body bags filled with our children. YES, Africa is a barbaric place where innocents are raped and slaughtered regularly. The world turns a blind eye to this, BUT we are the moral beacon on this planet????? Obama is out in left field as usual. Uganda? The Congo? Are there places on earth with more savage people? I would not sacrifice one american soldier for these people who kill and eat each other. Rwanda showed us just what they are capable of. They slaughtered and tossed 250,000 corpses into the river. Do you want our troops to suffer that fate? I DON'T!!! I cannot wait for Obama to leave office. He has betrayed everyone that voted for him except the uber rich. I shudder to think what he may do in the waning months of his Presidency.
Bullies and thugs everywhere should be on the run.
This is the right thing to do.
Henry,
You wouldn't be singing that tune if an armed band of American militia guys roamed your neck of the woods committing some of the crimes the world is accusing this man/group of doing.
It is disgusting that you cannot support efforts to stop these crimes. I hope we never see these atrocities again on our soil. They are going through it now, we should help.
How many of you who are moaning about how much Obama's new venture will cost were concerned about spending 100,000 times more under Bush to invade and occupy Iraq.? you people are so deranged by partisanism that you can't even recognize your own hypocrisy.
Please, PLEASE, all you real conservatives out there...please vote for Ron Paul in 2012!!
Waste your vote and assure our President is re-elected easily and handily!
I may be wrong but I think this group is Christian and the ones we are going to help is Muslim. Anyone know for certain?
That is correct... the terrorist organization responsible for hundreds of beheadings and thousands of rapes is a christian terrorist group... the innocent civilian population we are defending from this group of terrorists are by and large muslims.
Excellent post Henry JD, MD. We are not the beacon. We seem about as bright as a two watt light bulb in a snow storm.
"For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
And he gathered them together into a place that in the Hebrew tongue is called Armageddon."
I believe these words.
I don't believe anything the murderer-in-chief says, nor of his cabinet, nor of his government, nor of his supporters, nor of his fans. Yes, it is indeed telling that the Quarrelsome Red Mocker is not to be seen or heard at this time. Her red head, face included, has probably turned very strangely pale as a ghost and her popcorn fallen to the floor from her open mouth. Even she can't pretend to herself that she's never heard what she knows beyond denial that she has certainly heard. This is the beginning of the descent into the heart of darkness which is the inheritance of those who take pleasure in evil.
They are all snakes and sons of snakes and they are moved by the "spirits of devils."
Their destination is the valley of Armageddon. Their fate . . .
We are ALL headed toward the valley of Armageddon.
The question is whether you are dragging your fellow man into that conflict,
or being dragged into it.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."
It was predictable that the devil would put forth his lies and deceptions and even call some of these things by the names of God. But it is easy to tell the difference between the servants of God and the servants of the Devil.
The servants of the Devil murder.
The servants of God are murdered.
John, So what does it say about you that you take up for these murderers and rapists?:
the LRA has "murdered, raped, and kidnapped tens of thousands of men, women, and children in central Africa"
Most notably, his troops enter a village, killing the adults and kidnapping the children. The boys are enscripted into the army and the girls are taken as 'bush wives.'
*facepalm
He's the President of the United States, He's been elected to be able to make that kind of decision, he's been given the authority to do just this very thing without EVER asking congress.
Granted he should after he hits the go button, but he don't have to, and our rule book says he gets to do this... and it's legit.
Lybia? Congress!? cummon keep up already!
Are all of you on CRACK!
How is this a good thing? Your arguement is that Team America will save the day from the atrocities of a ruthless warlord.
Uh, huh. Answer me this: Where and when does it stop? Only after we have policed all the countries at the expense of your tax dollars and our soliders lives and creating more hatred because of our childish arrogance? And you think the LRA is cruel? What respect all of you have for the lives of your own countrymen. How arrogant you are to dismiss the daily atrocities in our own country that is BROKE, corrupt and failing in every way as a decadent empire that will soon fall apart.
No wonder we have the gov't we do with ppl like you war mongers who are so easily distracted and played by our inept gov't. To all of you who don't know, the world and life is harsh and there are crimes and cruelty commited every day and because Obama needs votes he's so easlly persuaded you that its OUR job to help. With what? We are broke. Don't you get it!
How completely ignorant and self-entitled it is to think that sure, we'll send over only a 100, now that's not many ppl. Are they your kids - are you going to Africa to get into a fight that has NOTHING to do with you?
Who starts fights or get into them? A bully A-hole! Right, America. America is a self-righteous, self-entitled bully. We either start wars(how many now?) or get into them. Why? to stop the bloodshed and an evil warlord. HAHAHAHA! Why'd we go into Vietnam to fight communism? bcz there's money in war. Why'd we go into Iraq, bcz of Wmds? bcz there's money in war. Why'd we go into Afghanistan? to fight terrorism?(and what a good job we do. we give them rights to due process and a fair trial and we all pay for the very ppl we are at war with????) Libya? OiL. and now, Africa.
How bout all you feel good humanitarians join up and YOU get into the fight to stop the bloodshed? how bout you cough up the BILLIONS it will cost to send a 100 'advisors' into to Africa?
For how long and then what? thats right its Obama's ticket for the muslim vote. He'll go in with his 'advisors' and give amnesty to the oppressed and abused. And then we'll have a whole new wave of ppl who are here but jobless, with no skills, looking for handouts and guess who's paying for it? YOU are.
And in the meantime, you feel good bcz we're the world saviors to stop the cruelty and we still have unemployment, we in crazy debt on the verge of economic collapse, with no health care...but you thinks its a good idea to go half-way around the world to 'get into a 'fight' worth fighting.
Whats next? WWIII? well, its right on time with the Mayan calendar and it sure looks like Obama wants to see this country collapse. Obama is base hunting and he's shuffling his deck and playing every card and hand he can. and of you eager to help idiots obviously don't care if our own gets killed and we spend $ we dont have and keep on warring with ppl we have no quarrel with in the name of Team America.
How many of you who are moaning about how much Obama's new venture will cost were concerned about spending 100,000 times more under Bush to invade and occupy Iraq.? you people are so deranged by partisanism that you can't even recognize your own hypocrisy.
Good point....so where is the outrage from the Left as it was under Bush???
Where is it??? I do not hear any of the "noise"
If Bush's actions were wrong, then so must the god king's actions!!!!

JohnLaz,
You wouldn't be singing that tune if an armed band of American militia guys roamed your neck of the woods committing some of the crimes the world is accusing this man/group of doing.
You are correct; we would grow some balls and defend our land. Perhaps yours is a great example of why we need our Second Amendment unimpeded.
U.S. military officials told NBC News that although the Lord's Resistance Army has a force of only about 200 rebels, they have managed to operate for decades because the African nations involved have not pursued them.
If their governments will not pursue them, why should we? Who is sending troops to clean out our illegals population? That is what our troops should be doing. However, America will end up like every other third world and "developing" nation out there. Their government oppresses them, the people whine and cry and wring their hands for 20 years, then another gtovernment comes in to stop the oppression... oh, wait- nobody will help us, we are America. Who tends to the whore when she is done performing her service for them? Then again, whores get paid for their services; who even reimburses us for our costs? (not including American soldier lives, which cannot be reimbursed for.)
We need oBAMa removed before 2012. In the words of his very good friend Jimmy Hoffa, Jr., :Let's take those sons of bitches out" before they cost America any more financially, life-wise or morally.
oBAMa can start/get involved in wars wherever he wants to, he can use many DOJ lawyers to sue Alabama for doing what his administration should be doing.
oBAMa can use DOJ lawyers to fight against the moral laws of this nation, but he will not prosecute the New Black Panthers for intimidating White voters.
oBAMa will not fight Iraq and Afghanistan to win, he will not fight Iran, world's number one terrorist state for shooting down their own people who protested against a rigged election, but he will use our resources to bomb Libyan villages, thereby killing many innocent children and adults. He will un-freeze their nation's funds and give them to the new Muslim-based govenrments without using one cent to reimburse our nation for the economic cost of killing their villagers for them.
oBAMa will support all uprisings in sovereign nations, fomenting unrest by his words and military actions, including the "occupiers" in our own nation.
oBAMa will allow illegal weapons to be passed by the thousands into Mexico for use against their and our people, but he attacks Americans for clinging to their guns.
I could go on, but I beleive that is sufficient for now to get the point across...oBAMA MUST BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE.
Last time I was in Iraq we had a 100 or so Ugandans providing security on the FOB. Male and female. I am SERIOUS! So they can protect us, but we need to protect them. LOL!
Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama takes the first step to embroil America in another foreign war.
Barack, that phone you hear ringing in the Oval Office is a call from a certain committee in Stockholm wanting their money back.
Obama invades Idi Amin Land.
What a loser.

The cost we are concerned about can be seen by watching Blackhawk Down. That's what happened out OUR young military people when Clinton sent them to Somalia. These kind of things are a constant in Africa and have been since time began. We do no belong there!
personally, I think WWIII started when we invaded Iraq. The so-called WW's always start with one or two regional locations before expanding to include all European colonial powers. Afghanistan was our response (for better or worse) to the escalation of terrorist attacks on 9/11/01. We played exactly into their hands by giving up our civil liberties in exchange for false security, perpetuating the image of malicious intent against muslims (the bull@!$%# over the downtown manhattan mosque, anybody?), and destroying our economy in a way that would make Rome proud (and the USSR blush).
We have deployed special forces, CIA clandestine ops, private mercenaries (I hate mercs! Get rid of Blackwater-I'm sorry, XE Worldwide, General Dynamics and the like) etc. all over the world and for some time now. Their presence in Iraq and its proximity to the Caspian Sea have fiercely rattled Russia and Iran (due to the planned pipeline to run oil to American and European interests bypassing the Russo-Iranian controlled operations- this is not the only source of hostilities b/w our nations but it is an example of what corporate media doesn't like telling us). There is Libya, which is an outlet for the French at a time when Germany is trying to figure out how to stay afloat with Greece building a big anchor and tying a rope to Italy and Spain. Britain & Canada, our longtime friends and allies are next to us in many of these locations (at the continued disgust of its citizens, just like us). China becoming Pakistan's big brother and already heated with us b/c we are messing with their schizophrenic/mulitple-personality disorder "am I communist?am I free-market?" economic experiment that sprouted over jealousy of Hong Kong being a mix of Tokyo and Monaco. Need I go on?
The point of this particular rant isn't necessarily to blame fingers but to help everybody recognize that there is a looming @!$%#storm that we don't have words to describe it's intensity. "Cluster@!$%#" just doesn't do it any more. We can't nation-build at home with all the corruption going on and the citizenry staring at it with eyes glazed over while listening to their Ipods. Violence in Africa is nothing new and will keep occuring until those nations (damn near all of them) get their act together. Troops in Africa, no troops in Africa- I hate to say it but... at this point, little will change in the world. Now that's a problem.
100 special ops to advise to end the LRA so the resident troops can continue their quest to defeat our larger enemy... all speculation. I don't see enough here to support it, but there MAY be good reasons that we aren't aware of. McCain supports it, so the decision wasn't done in isolation.
Benefit of the doubt for now... that's my vote.
The Poll numbers taken from the Vote do not seem correct. At first it was almost 70 per cent---and now 50 percent.
How could this be, when ALL the comments are negative on this subject.
No one wants to send Military again into other non threatening countries, but do want all the Military from the US to come back; end the fighting that we are involved in--no more War--
Iran-----?. That is our biggest Threat to the United States.
He's getting a lot of flak from the likes of jesse jerkson, Sr and Jr, cornell west, whoopie goldberg, maxine waters, and the rest for not being Black enough....and now with the prospect of a 100% "African-American" being the GOP Nominee....Obama is in panic mode.....yeah, yeah, that's the ticket....I can send troops to somewhere in Africa....that will shore up the base with my brutha's and sista's ......
perhaps any of you should really look at what is being done to these people who have absolutely no way to defend themselves...where is your compassion???100 of our special forces can completely obliterate that group and save thousands if not more people. When did we start having to get something back for every deed? When did doing the "right" thing take second place to doing what helps our cause/pockets/political agenda??? Try some empathy and look at the situation from a neutral standpoint.
@henry jacobs MD JD i am shocked...you would think a medical doctor of all people would have compassion for others.....instead of "its not our mess to clean up" those "people" who slaughter each other".....how about the children who are completely innocent..or their mothers who are getting raped and murdered in front of them? This is exactly the attitude 70% of americans have and its nauseating. Apparently, you completely missed the lesson on empathy.
Every time we send "military advisors" aka Green Berets to a foreign country to "assist" that government, we inevitably get drawn into a lengthy, costly war.
But at least when George W. Bush decided to start a war in Iraq, there is oil to gain. Obama starts one in Uganda, which has what, exactly?
When did we start having to get something back for every deed? Every single one of our foreign policy missions was to protect our own butt. The thing America has been doing has always been out of personal, political, or monetary gain. The only difference is that in the "good ol' days" the American public would actually believe the feel-good lies the government fed us. Today, we know the real reason for these actions.
Now that a different article is posted under this same thread, I read it. Interesting little sentence in there about protecting American interests. Have they found oil?
Africa? WTF??? Africa has NOTHING we need or want. One term and out for this administration of misfits.
Why does it have to be about only intervening when they have something we want? Can't it just be about doing the right thing?
The LRA is true evil. What is shocking is that former presidents have not helped with this problem. A nice .50 cal round from a well trained shooter or a hellfire missle fron a nice quiet drone will make a good start toward settling this group down and don't be surprised if it happens.
perhaps any of you should really look at what is being done to these people who have absolutely no way to defend themselves...where is your compassion???100 of our special forces can completely obliterate that group and save thousands if not more people. When did we start having to get something back for every deed? When did doing the "right" thing take second place to doing what helps our cause/pockets/political agenda??? Try some empathy and look at the situation from a neutral standpoint.ARE YOU *&%%$$ING SERIOUS WHAT ABOUT COMPASSION FOR OUR SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD POST THIS
America`s military is basically now a mercenary force for sale to the highest bidder or to repay political favors, it started with bush Sr but is now so blatant and obvious that it is impossible to ignore.
I feel sorry for all the foolish young american kids who join the military thinking that they are doing something honorable and patriotic for their country. They are just hired killers doing the bidding of the wealthy and politically connected.
"Bill Roggio, the managing editor of The Long War Journal, called the Obama administration's rationale for sending troops "puzzling," especially since the LRA does not present a national security threat to the U.S. — "despite what President Obama said." "
Indeed. What vital national security interest is served? And why was Congress not consulted. Even Bush get congressional approval of his actions, but Obama seems to think the laws are irrelevant, just like his actions in Libya.
50 f'in men to go train and assist.
You all act as if we're sending an entire divison of Marines.
Calm the f down, we're only going to try to help people from being slaughtered...
and you act as if a little more "good" in the world would be a bad thing.
I feel sorry for all the foolish young american kids who join the military thinking that they are doing something honorable and patriotic for their country. They are just hired killers doing the bidding of the wealthy and politically connected.
Spoken like someone who crosses the street so he doesn't get too close to a recruiting station. Serve first, then flap your lips. You don't have the moral right to talk about our soldiers like that till you do.
Indeed. What vital national security interest is served?
Why do we need to have some vital national security interest in order to intervene when people are dying? 100 US Marines in Rwanda could have prevented 800,000+ people from being hacked to death in 1994. But no, Clinton didn't think we should intervene either. It was only years later that he admits that it was his biggest failure as President.
When does it become wrong to stand aside and watch something happen, knowing you can do something about it?
Question for the people opposed to the US helping to stop the LRA atrocities...
Who in the hell raised you?
see exactly that's where I'm at with this, ....
Wtf in our upbringing said it was ok to do NOTHING when we know we can do SOMETHING to help.
*Facepalm
I'm disappointed America, I know we're better than that.
It's the "me" generation thing. They have no clue what it's like to walk off a ship onto the pier in someplace like Karachi or Lahore and see the misery. All they care about is that their mom gets her welfare check each month uninterrupted. It's all about take care of me first, screw everyone else. But you know what, try standing there in Haiti right after that earthquake, with a full belly and 2 liters of fresh water in your pack and tell that mother sorry but you can't spare anything.
All US foreign policy, from the birth of this nation until today, has been to protect US interests abroad.
The "me" generation you are talking about happens to realize this, while the previous generations blindly accepted the "moral" or "ethical" obligations of the US as reasons for foreign intervention. This "me" generation simply embodies the mentality of US foreign policy: that everything is done for material gain.
Sorry to tell all you "Impeach him", he doesn't have authority to do this, cry babies, guess what, the President of the United State has complete and absolute authority to chase terrorists, where ever they may be.
From the 2001 Authorization of Use of Military Force:
Section 2 - Authorization For Use of United States Armed Forces
(a) IN GENERAL- That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.
There you have it kiddies, all that is needed is a finding that a nation, group, organization or person intends a terrorist act against the United States and we can use whatever force the President deems necessary and appopriate.
NOW, Iran has used a terrorist act against an ambassador to the US.............
Okay, dirp101, what part did the 200 members of the lRA play in the September 11, 2001 attacks? What you cited specifically targets those involved in 9/11, so please show us their complicity. Just clarify that and your post may hold some validity. Until you can answer that question, I say, "IMPEACH HIM! HE DOES NOT HAVE AUTHORITY TO DO THESE THINGS!"
I too was vehemently against this question when it was posted. I don't know if there was an article that accompanied it or not. If there was...I did not understand.
Tonight after watching this video (yes, 1/2 hr long :L) I can say...that I do understand and rescind my prior dissaproval to 1000% approval.
I just wish I knew a way to get the word out.
Peter, I was thinking the same thing, only it was Eisenhower who sent military advisers; Kennedy sent the first 30,000 combat troops; the rest is history.
Actually, Kennedy had approximately 15,000 troops in Viet Nam and was considering pulling them out and leaving it to Viet Nam to sort out for themselves. It was Johnson that escalated the war with the (false flag) second Gulf of Tonkin incident...which never actually happened....but that fact didn't stop Johnson.
Poor Johnson, literally having the task of finishing every promise that Kennedy made - no wonder he didn't run again.
Peter and justone guy and any other. It was President Eisenhower that sent the advisors into Viet Nam not Kennedy. It was 1958.
I think our esteemed President is getting a little over enthused with his Johnson....Historically speaking, of course.
pft, let's just back up a bit and blame who really needs the blame, IT WAS THE DAMN FRENCH!
Is this the same BHO that was against sending troops to Iraq? I guess when you are trying to win the presidency you say one thing and another when you get elected. This is nothing more than Chicago Style Poly-tics at work. Its time to clean house come next election. Herman Cain was correct. I left that Democrat Plantation a long time ago!
So disgusted with everyone here. This is about thugs. Thugs everywhere should be on the run. Including the ones on our soil and that of our friends.
You can't see past your dislike for Obama (I don't like him either) to realize that the crimes being described are horrific, and the guy and his group should be stopped.
Think about this, the guy is wanted for crimes against humanity. We all know how lazy and incompetent gov/international bodies can be, therefore since they got around to charging him I would say it is legit.
We have enough thugs to fight in the USA...can't afford to be spending all this money fighting everyone elses problems. Let's make our own country strong again!
I voted for Obama but this is rediculous. I'm also a Afghan and Iraq veteran. I have been in countries where they don't want to help themselves.
We can't be the world's police on a blank check when we are fighting over crumbs over here. Cuttting budgets down to the bone but yet mindlessly blowing $$ on wars. Our priorities are out of wack.
We can't be the world's police on a blank check when we are fighting over crumbs over here. Cuttting budgets down to the bone but yet mindlessly blowing $$ on wars. Our priorities are out of wack.
because the three thousand dollars this will cost us will surely bankrupt us, right?
Geez, no @!$%#. It's 100 Green Berets. When did 100 Green Berets suddenly become classified as a war that will bankrupt our nation? How has Obama led us into, as stated above, "6 wars". Pretty sure we're only fighting the two that began almost 10 years ago.
Are you blind FP? Libya, bombing in Somalia, bombing in Yemen, bombing in Pakistan...I'm sorry, Iraq, Afghanistan...
...can you count okay?
Now this war in Uganda.
7 wars.
And you say 2? Are you nuts?
Clearly you're in denial.
Ask the woman and children we're murdering in those countries if it's not a "real war"...you sophist war apologist! And quit wondering what the cause of terrorism is...this is it!
Are you serious? You actually believe a single strike against a specific individual with the blessing of the government of the nation it's being conducted in represents a war??
You can't expect the small minded to understand "anything but Obama" Zip2. That's all Faux News feeds them and all they can seem to regurgitate. Somehow Obama has managed to do everything Bush promised to do and more with a tiny tiny fraction the cost and is preparing troops from the Bush wars to withdraw from the Middle East. Yet we still have ignorant comments about how we still have a military presence overseas. I know some people can't understand the logistics of withdrawing our troops and our technology safely, but what do we really expect from the "Tea Party" crowd. As you can see from this forum most are in favor of letting the LRA terrorize the helpless because they are "Christians" and fighting (a few) Muslims. Come to think of it I can see a lot of the LRA in the Tea Party group. The only thing keeping the idiots from acting the same way here is the military and well trained police forces.
JohnLaz and Z1P2 - you disgust me and those that argue for this act of aggression.
'Think about this....We all know how lazy and incompetent gov/international bodies' you mean the US govt of course, are you kidding me with that hypocrisy?
'Are you serious? You actually believe a single strike against a specific individual with the blessing of the government of the nation it's being conducted in represents a war??'
Are you serious? ..the blessing of the govt...to let us do THEIR job, when our own govt is failing all of us?
No wonder are country is in the hole with tools like you.
Are you serious? You actually believe a single strike against a specific individual with the blessing of the government of the nation it's being conducted in represents a war??
Okay, would you prefer to call it presidentially-sactioned murder?
The targeted killing or capture (whichever is easier) of this Joseph Kony and his officers is just exactlt what this world needs. Read about the LRA and then post.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord's_Resistance_Army
The wikipedia article is pretty tame compared to whats happening there.
Did anyone that voted for Obama think we were getting a neocon warrior? This guy makes Bush look like a pot smoking hippie in a Peace nik VW! I wish someone like Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nader would challenge this phony Nobel Peace prize winner!
Yep this guy is a jerk. He is a true terrorist doing what his muslim faith has trained him for. To wreck the US from within. Why wait until election, lets impeach him now before he does any more harm.
same i dont think we are going to get any actual change in this country with democrats or republicans in office. all their funding is tied to closely with corporate interests. the only way to get change is through third party candidates.
3rd party candidate would only split the vote like perot in 92. He's the only reason teflon bill got elected...
"same i dont think we are going to get any actual change in this country with democrats or republicans in office. all their funding is tied to closely with corporate interests. the only way to get change is through third party candidates."
"Why wait until election, lets impeach him now before he does any more harm."
"Did anyone that voted for Obama think we were getting a neocon warrior?"
Does anyone realize that he is no longer meeting the requirements of the Office he is currently in? All POTUS Must keep the Oath until they leave that Office. Not doing so makes them no longer eligible for that Office.
The requirements were to "Preserve, Protect, and Defend the US Constitution" from Domestic Enemies and Foreign Enemies.
So what part of the US Constitution has he Preserved? What part has he protected from his overzealous administration? He certainly has not been defending it from them or his own actions.
That makes him no longer meeting the requirements of the job. He can NOT be the POTUS anymore and because he went against it himself he is prosecutable.
His Administration is also no longer meeting the requirements and some are most definitely parosecutable. Look at all the new jobs he has created.
They are all illegally in those positions and nothing that has been done since the first violation is actually legal. Do any one else realize this?
That is, if we are still under the US Constitution. If we are not, then we have been taken over and they are enemies of the USA. It is one or the other.
"3rd party candidate would only split the vote like perot in 92. He's the only reason teflon bill got elected..."
If you vote either Democrat or Republican then you are voting for corruption to continue in our government. Voting for all of them to actually represent anyone who "buys" them instead of representing the American citizens.
Being "bought" was their choice instead of doing what they were elected to do.
Voting for more corruption is our choice, as is leaving it in office to fester and infect more thoroughly thru out all areas of our government and into our complete Law Enforcement and Military. They all take take an Oath.
All three branches of our government, the Military, all Law Enforcement, all federal employees are required to take an oath to support and defend the Constitution and not an individual leader, ruler, office, or entity; and to keep that Oath until they leave that Office or Position!
Eric I agree with you on that.
bulldog,
I also agree, but I think things are starting to get so bad that people are not going to trust their party for long. We are getting a very good look at the two parties fighting with each other over their party views instead of whats right for this country. I think Ross was just in the wrong decade when he ran.
It's Ron Paul or we'll be less safe because of intervention, and broke, broke, BROKE!
Enough of these neocon warmongers in both Parties!
We all know 3rd Parties have rigged system to fight. Stop being partisans, back a REAL peace candidate for once!
Ron Paul is not running as a third party candidate. If he would run as a libertarian, he would get a lot more attention and votes than the GOP will ever give him.
Which would still not be enough to get that whack-job elected.
Ron Paul isn't a total whack-job... he's pretty close on most things actually... it's just that he doesn't understand our economic system is all.
3rd party candidate would only split the vote like perot in 92. He's the only reason teflon bill got elected...
I suppose you prefer to continue to vote for the one who has the best chance of winning rather than principle? I will vote for Ron Paul regardless of whether or not it "splits the vote." I will vote my principles. If I have nothing else in this world, I will have my integrity.
Ron Paul isn't a total whack-job... he's pretty close on most things actually... it's just that he doesn't understand our economic system is all.
There is no one running with a more clear understanding of economics than RP.
Classic move by the President. A good war always takes the focus off the other issues. God knows Obama needs our attention off the economy during the election year so he can keep his job!
If that is the case, why didn't he choose Somalia where they are kidnapping Doctors Without Borders workers. Why Africa? What can we do for Africans?? Fight in the Congo with our conventional troops??? Yeah, there is a good idea....100 "advisors"?? Why do they need 100 advisors? So we can start war on the entire African and Middle Eastern Conts. What the hell is going on with our govt.? Do they even know we are out here??? This is just indefensible....
Obama was probably advised that this African campaign was going to be a push over and he would look good to all Blacks everywhere. Whatever his insane reasons are I am sure they are political driven at a time in his administration when they need many distractions. China is firmly implanted in many parts of Africa, but you don't hear them complaining about a twenty year old tyrant running around killing people. Funny we are sinking as a country and China is on the threshold of becoming the new world leader—how many wars, how many conflicts has China started in the last 50 years? Wonder why their country is succeeding and were failing.
Classic move by the President. A good war always takes the focus off the other issues.
100 advisors isn't exactly a good war.
Z1P2 -
100 advisors isn't exactly a good war.
what kind of fk'd up statement is that? so, we should at least make it a 'good' war? why/what are you defending the notion of it 'not' being a war? are you a mole for the administration? you keep saying this is not a war, are you too young to remember Vietnam or just stupid?
Tiger Boy,
China went into Vietnam to teach them a lesson back in the late 70s. The Vietnamese kicked their a$$e$ all the way back over their border, inflicting a serious defeat on them. Vietnam had modern equipment- China didn't They also went into Tibet which made the Dalai Lama flee the country. There are more but I can't think of them offhand. The Chinese were smart enough, however, to keep their wars or "operations" relatively local and have always kept a tight rein on the flow of information to the outside world, thus sparing them much international disapproval and possible responsive actions.
It's time to impeach Obama and the whole administration. Obama is the worst president this country has ever had.
Right on Jim- I say he should have been impeached long ago- he is hell bent on wrecking this country and does not have enough sense to make good sound decesions. He NEVER should have been put in office.
If Bush was not impeached, then hell why should Obama, please give me a break. Bush lied to get support for a war, lied to congress, lied to the american people, that's who should have been impeached, the little man Bush.
Obama has also lied. Let's start with Fast and Furious. In 2009 he signed funding for Project Gunrunner into law; $10,000,000 shall be transferred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses for the ATF Project Gunrunner.
Project Gun Runner (Fast and Furious) was launched under the orders of President Barack Obama with the knowledge of Attorney General Eric Holder. Deputy Attorney General David Ogden announced the Obama Administration’s new and aggressive ‘comprehensive plan’ on March, 24, 2009. The plan was aimed at disrupting gun trafficking between the United States and Mexico. Link to the news report of it.
Bush/Cheney and that whole administration needs to be prosecuted.
So does Obama and this administration.
Plus
The Project Gunrunner case is now pointing towards possible ATF sales of weapons bound for Honduras, including a reported 1,000 guns to members of the ruthless MS-13 gang. The program may be a spinoff or in some way related to Project Gunrunner, and in reports it sounds remarkably similar to Operation Fast and Furious.
Republican lawmakers are alleging that Operation Fast and Furious may have had a twin in Tampa: Operation Castaway.
The new revelations have come to light as Florida Republican Rep. Gus Bilirakis fired off a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and acting ATF Director Ken Melson asking them for answers about the newly discovered program
Plus how about the $200 million (US dollar and not his own money but OURS) dollar check Obama handed over to the Colombians that also went to the criminal element . Same as Brazil, Belize, Guatemala, with NO explanation.
knine, but my point was don't talk about impeaching Obama, if Bush wasn't then Obama can't. I been hearing people say that about the Pres. and never heard it about Bush. That's like the coffee calling the kennel black.
And another one is Reagan, the Iran/Contra affair. There was plenty of things Reagan did in respect to that, like trading weapons to terrorist for hostages. Many of those weapons that were given to terrorist may have been used against americans, for sure.
That's like the coffee calling the kennel black.
Me thinks your quote is a bit off............
Wow! What will it take to make people wake up? History folks..read up. Vietnam all over again. As well as The same old good old boys playing the "Watch what this hand does to cause a distraction over here". Distract the "simply" voters. Both parties play us for chumps, but I have to say Obama is the most dangerous President this Country has ever had. His Mission is being accomplished.
The partisan bull@!$%# is gettin' deep in here... forget the hip waders, we need scuba gear to wade through bull@!$%# this deep.
I agree about the impeachment part...clearly the Constitution states in Article 1 Section 8, Article 2 Section 1 that wars must be in response to SUDDEN ATTACK (and can be reasonable threat thereof).
This is not self defense...and it wasn't declared either.
Time for Article 2 Section 4...impeachment!
Time for you to learn that a small group of special forces training ally forces to combat insurgency is not a war.
Chris82mil,
You're absolutely correct. The United States has been sending advisory groups to foreign nations to assist their military forces for decades. No one ever says anything until there are political points to be made. Generally, it is regarded as merely interacting with our allies. This is actually no different. While I don't particularly care for assisting Uganda (they can't run down 200 men alone?) I can see where the situation might call for some specialized attention from professionals who train to handle similar problems.
For everyone who keep yelling "Vietnam!"- JFK had sent Special Forces advisors into Vietnam and then concluded it was a mistake and ordered them home. Within 2 weeks his brains got blown out in Dalls and LBJ took over. He reversed JFK's decision and started pouring US troops into Vietnam. MacNamara arranged for the absolutely phony "Gulf of Tonkin Incident" in order to justify US involvement to the American people. So 59,000 Americans ended up dead because of MacNamara's lies and LBJs cooperation in it. It wasn't the advisors who did wrong, it was the LBJ administration and in particular, MacNamara. What kills me is that the politicians NEVER get prosecuted for such blatant treason or for causing the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans and God only knows how many Vietnamese. I won't even get into the drug trade. To this day MacNamara and the others involved in faking the Gulf Of Tonkin attack (a textbook "false flag" operation) and getting 60,000 Americans and ??????? Vietnamese killed haven't been prosecuted, the lie is propagated in the history books to our children, and we can never be sure as a Nation that our politicians and corrupt elements of our government and military haven't lied us into another military involvement- hence all of the mistrust concerning the 9-11 mass murders, Iraq, Libya, and now Uganda. We still protect our bastards that ought to be tossed to the wolves at the International Court for crimes against humanity at the very least. I'll stop believing that America has become a banana republic on the day we toss major politicians (presidents, cabinet) & military personnel (generals!), and moneyed influential people into a REAL prison for such offenses against the Nation. We have several prime candidates for such prosecution right now (don't ask me, use your heads and investigate and learn).
What's the big deal? From what I understand, it's around 100 military advisers that are only there to advise that country's army to take out this warlord that rapes and kills indiscriminately.
Or is there something bigger here than what I'm seeing?
This is how we start military conflicts; first advisers, then some security, next...bring in the troops. The real question is...why here, and why now?
Have you learned nothing from history? This is exactly how we got involved in Viet Nam, innocently sending "advisors". How did that work out? Ironically we are sending about the same number of "advisors" this time.....
aimee look at history things like this always start small. Oh we are just sending in a few hundred advisors nothing to worry about citizens. next thing you know that few hundred ends up growing to thousands.
Obama don't wanna read history...he wants to make history. In my humble opinion he already has...the dumbest a$$ to ever occupy 1600 pennsylvania avenue
Look I serverd in Viet Nam- Thats how it started - Oh we are just gonna send in advisors. Well those advisors are AMERICAN soliders, and when they get shot up guess what? Now we have to send in more advisors, but this time with support troops to protect them. So now instead of 100 advisors we have 500 advisors and 1,000 support troopps. Ok now with more American targets we get more dead Americans so guess what? Yep lets snd in more.
Libya ring a bell? Advisors first, them comes F16's for air support, aircraft carriers in the gulf, troups on the ground, drones with hellfire missles, etc. Then we got to leave a bunch of Hummvees there and tanks and missiles so they can fight the battle. Oh, let's not forget training their army should only take about 6 years. How's the Iraqi army doing?
I can look it up later, but my main question is: Is this a mirror-image comparison to Vietnam? When we sent advisers to Vietnam, were they working with the local military? I thought the big issue with Vietnam was half of the country wanting to be a democracy and being cool with French colonialism and the other half wanting communism..?
This time around, it seems like we're sending advisers to a country cool with their government that is just trying to arrest a thug that is on an international most wanted list.
Again, not something anyone necessarily has to answer, I can look it up and research later. I'm just not wanting to jump to conclusions and freak myself out before I have as much info as possible. And it just doesn't seem like a spot-on cloned situation to me right now.
The Advisers are combat ready which means they are going to fight and die in a third world toilet
Aimee, you are correct. The LRA is a group of several hundred, a lot of them children who have been kidnapped and forced to fight as child soldiers. The LRA is not a nation, it is a force controlled by sick warlords such as Joseph Kony. Joseph Kony was the first arrest warrant served by the International Criminal Court for his atrocities. Back in the history of the war, Northern vs Southern Uganda played a significant role, now it is not the case and this is a group that has affected Northern Uganda, Southern Sudan, CAR, and DR Congo. These nations need help to stop these leaders and get help for these children. They are innocent, and brainwashed.
Thank you for wanting to learn more and become educated on the 25 year war. Others just see what they want to see and refuse to learn.
I think the big question has been asked several times without response...Why There? Why Now? What is really going on. NO ONE is that insane to just jump into yet another theater. Something is afoot.
There are several non-profit organizations that have taken the reigns in ending this war. The LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act was not signed until May 2010. While the war has been going on for 25 years, international response has been slow until recently. The numbers kidnapped and displaced have decreased since the '80s but the LRA are still active. Why now? Because the world finally opened their eyes.
So, if I am correct, the 200 person "bad guy army" cannot be handled by the current nation's military?? Hmmm something just does not sound quite right.... Our 100 "Advisers" are more than enough to take care of the situation..... but sadly it is not likely that Barry will stop there......
Move over silly boy your new neighbors will be arriving soon—I hope you like them and what they will bring to you and your neighborhood
Have you learned nothing from history? This is exactly how we got involved in Viet Nam, innocently sending "advisors". How did that work out?
It seems to have worked out pretty well in the Philippines. We don't seem to be involved in any Vietnam type wars there after sending military advisors to advise their government on pursuing the Abu Sayaff and NPA.
Careful Cole, facts will just get in the way of the Faux News regurgitation these conservative simpletons are tossing about.
Hello from a conservative simpleton and vet; yep, just 100 of my brothers/sisters sent into harms way. Where do you think they advise from, the local Hilton?
Yep, it is just 100 so what is the big deal. They are only "advisors", so what is the problem.
How about those of you thinking this is a good idea to join and be deployed not knowing how long you will be away from family. How about you joining and hearing 1-3 days before deploying from your units commander, "make sure your private affairs and will are in order".
Most important for me, what rules of engaugement were they given? If it is anything less than see a threat and take it out, then bring the 100 back home.
Most important for me, what rules of engaugement were they given? If it is anything less than see a threat and take it out, then bring the 100 back home.
THIS!
Let's not forget to mention they're 100 ARMED "advisors" this is bull@!$%#, I'm so glad my husband finally retired. They keep sending y'all on these BS missions at the detriment of our families, yes we knew what we were getting into when we "joined" though for me it was I knew what I was getting into when we married, it doesn't make it better, not knowing when he has to leave again and not knowing when or IF he's coming back. We are a war weary nation it's time to bring all our men and women home and take a well deserved rest.
Excellent post Mike, thank you for your service.
On Aug 3, 1950, we sent 127 military advisors to Vietnam and formed the unit called JUSMAAG (Joint United States Military Advisory Assistance Group). It all began there. Obama all along has had the intent of getting us involved in Africa. Libya was the beginning, and, it set a precendent and received little resistance. We also have had an advisory presence in French controlled Djibouti just north of Somalia which they failed to mention.. It has always been clear to me what his hidden agenda was and is. Always. He'll be looking for a significant OP base in Kenya next.
This ranks right up there with the stupidest mistakes this President has made. We have no business sending troops into Africa, let alone combat equipped troops. Let Africa police their own problems.
We are reducing our overall military forces and are talking about cutting defense spending by billions. I was sent as an adviser to Vietnam in 1992 and watched the combat forces increase to over 500,000 at the height of the war. 58,000 Americans died in that fiasco and hundred of thousands wounded. I guess President Obama thinks be can cover up his incompetence in handling the jobs and economy here by trying to prove his meddling in foreign affairs.
Hopeful congress will put a stop to this pending fiasco.
in 1992 ? Were you Russian Spesnaz ? Just kidding,,, I figure it's a typo, sarge,,,,lol
Sorry about that, I did mean 1962, thanks for catching the mistake.
Let innocent children handle their own problems? They haven't been able to for 25 years, as long as the war has been going on. They need help to stop the LRA leaders. Send the troops, Mr. President, I support you. I believe in ending a war that abducts children and forces them to work as child soldiers. I am able to sleep at night without the fear of being abducted and forced into a war, but a child in Central Africa is not. I am no better than that child.
sure cole send our troops, so what if they die, their children will get over it, right? our troops are already over extended, why don't you go?
I would love to go. I'm hoping to go early next year. My friends have already gone to set up radio towers to improve communication amongst the villages in order to warn of attacks, build a rehabilitation center for the children, build schools, and meet with advisors about negotiating a strategy to end the war. I understand the concern for our troops, when one life is lost so many are affected and changed forever. In that, I totally agree with you. I also value the life of a child.
Cole, you are either very young, or very foolish.... you would love to go?? Obviously you have never served in combat... never had to make the choice to end a life... even while saving the lives of your brothers and sisters, it is not as easy as a video game... I have served 3 tours already, and have faced more nightmares than you can imagine.... killing, even when perceived right, is never easy.... we have no business going to Advise and Assist in the eradication of a 200 person unit.... Barry is trying to use the Patriotic love of country that Americans have to boost his image.... yes he is the President, but to say he only has the best interests of this nation in his mind is a bold lie.
3 Tour- thank you for your service and your commitment to our country. I do not have the training, experience, or strength to endure what you have. My willingness to go to Central Africa was not as a soldier but as a missionary to help the Ugandan people. I have deep respect and gratitude for the soldiers who will be going there. There has been, and will continue to be support of the Central African people that is not military driven. Thank you again for what you have done. You are absolutely right, I have never served in combat and do not have what is required to do so.
Are you one of those infamous "Christian" missionaries wreaking havoc in Uganda with your teachings against homosexuality?
Imatthebeach- Absolutely not. What those people have done is sickening. I would never tell a person to not be true to themselves or try to teach others to be intolerable of others and ignorant. It really upsets me that there are groups that "teach against homosexuality." People should be free to be who they are.
TO 3 TOUR VET.................AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One vet to another, you said it better than I could have. To pull the trigger the 1st time is very hard. It is even harder to live with this memory every day for the rest of your life. Let those that think this a good idea to experience a night fire fight. Let those thinking this is a good idea smell the odor of death.
To say this is in our national interest is a bold face lie & using our brothers and sisters in harms way for personal gain. To my brothers and sisters on active duty, I can only say how sorry I'am for this commander-in-chief. I know you being on active duty can not say these words, but as a vet I can speak for most of you.
To my brothers and sisters on active duty, I can only say how sorry I'am for this commander-in-chief. I know you being on active duty can not say these words, but as a vet I can speak for most of you.
My husband has one word for you Mike.... HOOAH!
Obama is the main reason my husband decided to retire after 26 years (and turned down SGM to do it) he could no longer stomach the restrictions placed on them while trying to do their jobs, trying to shoot with your hands tied behind your back never ever works.
My husband has only spoken in passing of his first "kill" that's not how he worded it but for sake of being brief, I have no idea how many people he's had to shoot, all I know is the nightmares that rack him night after night and his belief he's going to hell for it.
1SGFitzwife4ID,
Thank you so much for.....HOOAH! Something only a vet and family will ever understand. Do I deserve such a compliment, I truely do not know. You brought a tear to my eyes from this compliment
Your husband my never totally open up to you about this. Just be there for him. I would like to suggest something that helped me. Get him to join the V.F.W. and or the AMERICAN LEGION posts near you. Vets in private conversation will in thier own way talk about it. The dreams will never go away but will become less and less. When he does have a bad one, another vet can always be there for him. These are not out reach clubs, but he will meet someone from time to time he can talk to and relate to.
My father is a veteran of the Korean war. I don't believe he spent much time, if any, on the front lines, but he was close enough to it that whatever he did see, which he won't tell me, affected him deeply, and still does to this day.
I agree that sending troops anywhere just doesn't seem right. But how do we end it? How do we justify not helping those who are so badly oppressed? It's impossible to make a confident decision without the truth (it's even dam difficult with it), and it is apparent that we may never have the truth about this situation.
People say, "Go in, and it could be another Viet Nam."
On the flip-side, "Don't go in, and it could be another Nazi Germany."
I'd prefer to stay out of other people's back yards, but the world's getting smaller, and the borders are getting harder to find.
I'm neither supporting nor opposing Obama's decision.
I just don't know what to think.
How about we take care of our own problems first???? Maybe once we get employment back up, take care of our elderly and children, and pay off the national debt, then we can go play hero in other countries. Most don't want us there anyway. I feel sorry for those in other countries that are having problems, but we have to take care of our own country first!
Are there not all ready blue-helmet U.N. "peace keepers" there? Why do we need to go?
@ Mike --we are not going as peace keepers, and we are not wearing the silly blue helmets.
Wasn't it some of the Blue Helmets that extorted the citizens for sex? Perhaps I am mistaken, but their reputation isn't all that squeeky. No, we are going is as combat troops. No doubt about it. Advisers my tush. I don't think they are into Ann Landers on Congo ettiquette.
I don't support the advisors, but the UN peacekeeping troops are worthless.
We haven't even addressed the problems in this country but let's go ahead and get involved in yet another country's problem.
Who's paying for these "advisers"?
As a taxpayer I'm tired of this BS and I will be showing it next November.
"As a taxpayer I'm tired of this BS and I will be showing it next November."
As a taxpayer and an American citizen you should be aware that he and his administration did not keep the Oath as required until they leave the office or position they are currently in.
That means they no longer meet the requirements of those positions or the Office. That means we have to replace them Now.
K, How did you feel about your republican president who wasted over a $Trillion invading and occupying Iraq??? This deployment to Uganda will cost about 1/100,000 as much as Iraq/ But you were probably in favor of Iraq because the president was a republican...
Typical tea bagger statement. Woo woo woo! Quit crying and start questioning our debt Bush put the ENTIRE world in idiotazz!
Oh Please, this Bush cr@p has gone on long enough. This is Obama's watch and has been for some time. Your teabagger puke is old and tired. Get over it. Try an original thought.
Colorblind,
That is not a reasonable request since President Obama is still trying to deal with the mess left to him and to the entire Nation by former president Bush. It may be Obama's watch, but he's still busy shovelling us out from under that pile of sh/t. I'd also have to say that the Bush regime purposefully left the Nation in that condition
How many times must I say it...Please stop associating teabaggers with the TP. Teabaggers like having their testes tongued, their goolies gobbled, their nads nibbled etc... The TP, instead, licks further back. Teabaggers are clean, the TP is not-as can be seen by their name- TP- and their involvement in filthy politics. Any teabagger thinking about politics while engaged isn't going to have much fun. Politicizing sex is usually an enormously poor idea and drains the fun out of it.
I was afraid this clown would do somehting like this. Africa? Are you kidding me!
Gotta deflect the attention from issues here...ie; fast and furious, polls, etc...
Well, we've been expecting the old October surprise. The big question is this it, or merely a blind for something bigger?
Are you still referring to Bush you maggot? Please advise dumbass!
Are you still referring to Bush you maggot? Please advise dumbass!
Please advise dumbass!
ThePowerVCT, you are suspended for a day for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor.
This is the dumbest trick in the book to get involved in another war in a country that couldn't care less for Americans. OBAMA has truly gone off the deep end. What's this help fight for his cousins, his black friends?
We are broke as hell, American soldiers getting killed in everybodys war for no reason and he wants to start another one all over again just like VN with advisors. So when the advisors get killed and we have to send in more support, it just continues to esclate until we are fully involved for the next 6-10 years.
I am telling you American citizens - If you do not vote this Jackal out of office, YOU are the dumb one here.
"I am telling you American citizens - If you do not vote this Jackal out of office, C."
If you wait to vote him out then "YOU are the dumb one here".
Seriously, conspiracy theories? Yup that's it, Obama is trying to take over the world. Maybe he is part of an alien race? or maybe he is part of the Illuminati? Freemason maybe??? Stop reading tabloids.... do you think these people don't need our help?
If there weren't so many problems here, I wouldn't mind helping out another country.
Yes, but I think I might start with our southern neighbor. They need some help. Lots of murders going on there everyday over extortion, human trafficking, drugs, and, of course, the guns we sold them. Sort of owe them a favor....Not to take in all of their poor citizens, but to make their country a place where their citizens may want to stay.
another place to get our guys killed OB the Mus is so full of crap what is going on in this guys head. Can't even fight the battles in our streets with all this shooting and killing ...Yeah! he is pulling out of Afghan, Iran BS
setting the stage for the next show, were ever our advisers go our involvement is sure to follow
And it's 1, 2, 3, what are we fightin' for...
Don't ask me 'cause I don't give a d@mn...
Next stop is Viet Nam...
or Africa or wherever else this joke of a CINC wants to send our troops. That's what happens when we trade leaders for politicians. And no, he's not the first, just the latest in an unfortunately long line.
A commander-in-chief is the commander of a nation's military forces or significant element of those forces.
100 soldiers is nothing but bait...Either $hit or get off the pot. In it to win it...overwhelm them or stay the hell away.
Comforting knowing that obama in all his vast experience is handling the issue...aint it?
Do you even know who makes up the LRA? It is a group of several hundred, not an entire nation. Mostly children. Their leaders must be stopped, and the children rehabilitated. These are innocent children who have been brainwashed to fight. Northern Uganda, CAR, DR Congo, and Southern Sudan need military support of the US to bring these children home and stop the LRA leaders.
@ Cole—you need to learn about history, read the history of Idi Amin and how he helped his country of Uganda. Uganda can handle its own internal problems if they want to, or the neighboring countries will assist. This action by Obama is a political ploy at best and bleeding hearts like you are suckers for predators like Obama, Bush and the like---you have a brain use it, your politicians will never tell you the truth
Tiger- I have never relied on the words of politicians when it comes to learning about the LRA and the war in Central Africa. Honestly, many of them have never heard of it. I have a brain, and am using it. I have read the history of Idi Amin, and if you believe he has helped the country of Uganda then you and I have read different history books. And if you are relying on people like the "Butcher of Uganda" to handle Uganda's internal problems, you are going to be waiting a long time and see innocent children killed because of it. Neighboring countries have LRA presence as well, Southern Sudan, CAR, and DR Congo. The LRA has been in force for over 20 years, this isn't an Obama issue, or a political issue, it is a human issue.
I'm sorry, Tiger, you just told Cole to learn about history and then followed it by claiming Idi Amin "helped his country of Uganda?" Seriously?!
Proud...No, not so much. Like you, I'm in favor of the shock and awe thing in these cases. Another option is to keep the covert ops covert and not hand it to the media. Hey, @sshole, we are coming....get your affairs in order because our orders don't include a future for you and your buddies. Bet that will help. Third option....Stay home. Let the regional officials handle it or risk any aid or other assistance from us or eu.
There are only three reasons to go to war!
I would have been in the Sudan years ago.
I would have supported Bush if we had attacked Iraq when they were killing thousands of Kurds with chemical weapons but they waited.
there wasnt any money or glorie in it at the time for bush croonies at the time
I hate to say it, but even genocide is not a good reason to go to war in a traditional sense.
If you to extort (tax) money to fund it from people who may not agree (in defense is obviously a different story, see Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution). You have FORCE kids (17-25 year olds mostly) to go die on the threat of kidnapping (prison) who may or may not agree with your "morally justified" war.
So, the only way to go to war for non-defensive genocide ethically is to fund it by donation and ask troops to individually volunteer for the non-defensive operation. Then the morality of the operation is quantified...and when the money or troops run thin, so does your moral justification.
PERIOD!
So basically your argument is to let the UN deal with it. The same entity that has proven so successful in numerous other African and Balkan crisis.
ProIndividual:
50% of tax dollars are for a welfare state I'm totally opposed to. How is that justifiable?
Um, force? There hasn't been a draft in the US since December 1972.
The only way to give away money to people that won't work for a living is to put charity back in the hands of non profit groups.
See how much sense that makes?
I happen to be re-reading this post tonight...and am embarrassed to say...that at the time of my response...I had no idea of the background of the deployment of our military. Tonight...I was educated in it. I wish I new then...what I know now. So I am recinding my first statement with this; I fully support the USA finding the leader and bringing to justice the leader of LRA; http://vimeo.com/37119711
To this day (March 7, 2012) over 30,000 families have been destroyed...either by mutilation or flat out killing...as the hands of children. Please take the time to watch the video above. It's 1/2 hr long.
