yeah... With another charge we can hate him twice as much and after he is dead we can pull off his arms and beat him to a pulp with them. Enough all ready. And where are all the activist. betcha if a black guy drug a white guy Jesse and Al would be saying... Reasonable doubt... he didn't know he had a passenger. Isn't their argument that this is barbaric. Gust it is only if you can steam up some hate in the masses.
You sound like you condone what these two worthless people did. There was solid evidence in this case and They were bragging about what they did. I would not say that the entire state or that city should be blamed for what these idiots (I use the term loosely) did. But if you think that any activist, Black, White, Brown or otherwise would condone this if the shoe were on the other foot then you maybe in need of some psychological counseling yourself.

As was stated in an earlier post on another death penalty case, "What's a liberal to do?" They can't support the death penalty but they can't oppose it in this case lest they be classified as a racist????? What is a liberal to do?????? Most will do as they always have done.....bury their head in the sand and just avoid making comments until the subject goes away.
your repeating yourself too...sure sign of mental illness. Take your meds. There is no way you could have concluded that I condone any such thing. But I don't condone hypocrisy either. As for the punishment of these two. I agree with the sentence. And the sentence in GA too.
Let's see? Troy Davis kills a cop and deserves to live? Not that anyone of them should, but why not this guy? Just asking! We will all be judged in the end. A lot of you may not think so, but we will!
I would agree. In some respects I admire Hamurabi Law "an eye for an eye". This guy should feel the pain of his victim.
"The world is losing it's grasp of common sense and decency at an alarming rate!"
I would disagree. I seem to recall much more blatant discrimination and racial pressure in the past. Some is still there, but it's personal racism. The laws are fairly severe for institutionalized racism, but you can't stop individuals from thinking bad thoughts. Education and personal effort has done a great deal to change people's minds. Racism was far more blatant and wide spread when I was younger. Crime rates are down, and "lynchings" by comparison are almost unheard of.
I didn't repeat myself my flawed system or the message board said it didn't post and to try again. I oppose the death penalty for anybody. Just not something I support. There is too much of a margin for error and Being a legal serial killer is no better than being a criminally insane serial killer. Thanks, but no thanks
I've been taking a little heat on the other board concerning our executing Troy Davis today here in Georgia. He is a black man and he killed a white police officer twenty years ago. He's had plenty of appeals but today is the day. I've heard charges of racism and even one nut says I'm going to hell because I support the verdict. I also support the death penalty in Texas in this case. They're guilty also. The only racism I see is on the part of the ones that did the killing and the turnout for the defense of guilty. Nobody seems to want to defend the white guy who decapitated the black man.
betcha if a black guy drug a white guy Jesse and Al would be saying... Reasonable doubt
Betcha if you eliminate all color from the article, the crime is just as heinous. The punishment is, as well.
But your comment does little but divide a country desperately needing uniting. I almost wish one of the requirements for sitting on the jury included blindfolds so you couldn't be influenced by the color of either the accused or the accusers.
As was stated in an earlier post on another death penalty case, "What's a liberal to do?" They can't support the death penalty but they can't oppose it in this case lest they be classified as a racist????? What is a liberal to do?????? Categorically opposing the death penalty on all races of people doesnt make you a racist regardless of the race of the person being put to death.
Dumbest thing I have read in a while. Thanks for posting that.
7 members of the jury were Black Woodie. The division comes from the blatant hypocrisyof black leaders with an interest in keeping us divided. Open your eyes
That's because there is no question this "white" guy did this crime. There are a whole lot of questions in the Troy Davis case. I think if Troy Davis did it he certainly should be executed but too much of the "evidence" that was shown at trial was questionable. Seven of nine witnesses recanted and said police pressured them and they never found a murder weapon. No one is defending this "white" guy because he was even bragging about doing it, blood evidence was found on his vehicle. Seriously, no one can defend that. I am white and I am for the death penalty but only with unquestionable guilt, I don't care what color the defendent is.
sorry but there is no doubt there. You have been feed a load of false information. The key witnesses have not recanted and the other witnesses had many opportunities to recant prior to this. It's been 20 years. The argument that the police pressuredthem get on the stand and under oath lie to convict this man is laughable. You know the defence cross-examined all these witnesses and couldn't get them to change there story.
John-429485 your reverse scenario is bogus as is your hinted distain that diminishes the scope of what was done to that man. The best argument you could have made (unfortunately hinted at but not detailed) is the argument about double jeopardy in hate crime but that is a legal argument already ruled on. So we are left with why so many feel deep anger. Certainly that is more understanding considering the terroristic brutality of this crime that decapitated this man and shredded his body. Even if we did not have hate crime the brutal, horrific killer would have been sentenced to death.
Pretending that if a black man did the same thing to a white man, 2 people and one group would say bla, bla, bla, is a deflection and a change of subject to try and pretend that society doesn't get what a sadistic killer deserves. You try to keep is racist by pretending black people would protect a decapitator. Guess again. Whole communities of black people and white rise to save communities from sadistic killers across this nation. Perhaps you didn't know that? Please, please don't lower yourself to try and find a flaw in a slaughter.
I didn't repeat myself my flawed system or the message board said it didn't post and to try again. I oppose the death penalty for anybody. Just not something I support. There is too much of a margin for error and Being a legal serial killer is no better than being a criminally insane serial killer. Thanks, but no thanks
So, if your daughter was raped and murdered, you would not want the monster responsible to be given the death penalty?
Usually those who profess such things do so out of an attitude of "superiority" rather than pure belief.
John, adding another charge does not allow people to hate these racists' actions more but would instead see justice done. It is a matter of record. What they did would fit not only into our racism legislation but also perfectly into our terrorism legislation. It is what is right and is how the record should stand for history to see. I can understand the PA for not having added it to the trial since he already got the death penalty and probably didn't want to waste another cent of tax payer money other than necessary.
If I were the PA I would have added it so that the home land statistics on terrorism can be represented correctly.
With another charge we can hate him twice as much and after he is dead we can pull off his arms and beat him to a pulp with them.
Please tell me that is not what went through your mind.
... [a]nd where are all the activist. betcha if a black guy drug a white guy Jesse and Al would be saying... Reasonable doubt... he didn't know he had a passenger. Isn't their argument that this is barbaric. Gust it is only if you can steam up some hate in the masses.
You're ridiculous. Seek therapy for your delusions.
Wait a minute, F Walsh! What do you mean there is no question this "white" guy did the crime but there are "questions" in the Troy Davis case? There were no witnesses to this crime other than the other perpetrators and this guy supposedly claims he didn't participate in the actual murder. Now, don't get me wrong, I firmly agree with the jury's decision and firmly agree this guy should get the death penalty. However, if you compare it to the Troy Davis case, Davis was right there at the scene of the murder and at the trial 9 witnesses either identified him or identified him by the clothing he was wearing. Not a single witness ever pointed the finger at his friend Coles. Davis also says he didn't do it. He has has 3 separate appeals including 2 to the US Supreme Court. Each of the hearings has examined in detail every single one of these supposed 7 recantations as well as all of the original trial testimony and investigation. All have concluded that there is nothing whatsoever raised since the trial that would indicate any shred of innocence on Davis' part. The Federal Court hearing on Davis' case held in 2010 resulted in a 171 page decision detailing every single bit of evidence and these supposed recantations and it's findings were reported back to the US Supreme Court. Not only did the findings say that Davis' arguements that he was innocent did not rise to the level required to order a new trial, it stated that he didn't even come close. Fry 'em both.
I feel if there is solid evidence to convict someone and sentence them to die then let them die but if there is reasonable doubt then i feel killing the person isn't the way to go. In the davis case eye witnesses said they saw him but it was dark and they werent 100% sure sorry I'm not racist but he is black and it was night i mean come on anyone would have a problem being sure in that instance. With the dragging death there were parts of the mans skull and face still on the bumper of the truck that they refused to clean off, being proud of what they did I guess. I remember hearing about this case yrs ago i was horrified then and it makes me sick hearing about it now. Maybe the killers need a good dragging of their own but who would want to step up and be the dragger in this case they would be no better.
The comment CarLover made is a typical example of how Left-wingers take full advantage of someones misfortune. As the adage goes, Never let a good crisis go to waste.
Peter Jacobs - I don't understand your comment. How would adding another charge "see more justice done"?
I do believe he's being put to death so what would adding another charge do? Make people feel more affirmed about the decision?
Don't take this the wrong way, obviously the guy is guilty and I'm a firm believer in the death penalty but adding another charge just seems idiotic and a complete waste of time and resources to me.
So, Mike, are you opposed to the death penalty in this specific case? A simple YES or NO will do. But I bet you can't do just that. If you are really opposed to the death penalty in this case, then why not come right out and state it????? Afraid of being labeled a racist by the rest of the so-called liberals aren't you? If you think this poor misunderstood under priviledged man deserves better....say it like you mean it.
I used to do a lot of work at the Jasper County Courthouse, if anybody wants to know how to make squirrel gravy, the ladies that work there can sure tell you. Kinda turned this city boy's stomach.
Texas will execute this scum for the sole reason that anybody who did what he did needs killing.
In both cases the guilty have been tried and sentenced. The media loves to keep everyone riled and out for blood.
If we go through the files and look at all the brutal killings that have taken place by both races, we could find worse crimes than either one of these. Children viciously raped and killed or women being beaten and mutilated while still alive. We need to let justice run it's course.
Our young soldiers are being killed daily in foreign countries fighting wars for Obama's Muslim brothers and friends and all you do is sit in your living rooms and say how sad it is and allow it to continue. These young men haven't done anything but follow orders they were given. Why don't I hear an outcry about the injustice that is being done to them? If you can't stand up for them then don't defend the guilty ones here.
Maybe Obama and Panetta should be given lethal injections for the crimes they are committing.
So, if your daughter was raped and murdered, you would not want the monster responsible to be given the death penalty? Usually those who profess such things do so out of an attitude of "superiority" rather than pure belief. I am sure this is not the case with you though.
My response, I would be completely hurt if this happened to my child as I would if it happened to any child. I do not think I am superior to anyone; no not even you. I just have no desire to see someone take the cowards way out. If it were my child I would still feel the sane way hopefully. However, no one knows what they will do in any situation until they are actually in that situation. Will this death penalty easy my pain? Hell No. Will this death penalty bring back my child? Hell No. If I were given the death penalty I would want to be killed immediately rather than suffer in a prison without any other human contact. If not then I would kill myself without waiting for the executioner. I feel just is better served by keeping that person in a smal cell without any kind of human contact and plaster the walls with his victims. Surely enough would be enough and they would beg to be put out of their misery.
Once again: I would be completely hurt if this happened to my child as I would if it happened to any child. I do not think I am superior to anyone; no not even you. I just have no desire to see someone take the cowards way out. If it were my child I would still feel the sane way hopefully. However, no one knows what they will do in any situation until they are actually in that situation.
1 deleted, CarLover with a one-line derail about Governor Perry that led to a ton of bad discussion. You're suspended for a day for violating #4 of the Code of Honorrepeatedly. Write your own politics article or seed one of the many assessing Perry's death penalty record.
it is a dense crowd indeed that can't see the hypocrisy here. So much that the truth is blinded from you. How many black cop killers do Rev. Al and Rev. Jesse have to defend? Not just with clemency but to be let out as innocent men before you see the point. I said nothing to support these men but the argument for Davis is manufactured to divide us.
The absolutely evil bigotry of people like John King, the ring-leader of this heinous crime. And the people who defend his actions.
John King wanted to start a group that required killing a black person as an introductory rite of qualification.
There is no question as to what happened in this case. John King planned to kill a black man for no other reason than that the man was black, went looking for and found a victim, killed the man as explained in the article, and bragged about it later saying that he had "popped his cherry" by killing his first African American.
the blatant hypocrisy of
People like John 429485. How can you take a case of sheer, unadulterated evil, and compare it to your own delusional fantasy, invent your own outcome for the delusional fantasy that exists only in your own head and your own heart, and then blame OTHER people for being hypocrites? Those OTHER people are imaginary beings that exist only in your own twisted psyche.
The real issue when it comes to sentencing violent criminals is how to best protect innocent society.
Too often, innocent people are convicted of a horrible crime merely because we are so horrified by the crime that SOMEONE must suffer for it. Usually, those wrongfully convicted of a crime are not such wonderful people in the first place.
But the death penalty should not be used for vengeance. It should be used when there is no other reasonable way to protect society.
Killing Osama bin Laden was most likely the only way to protect the world from his evil philosophy. The same might be true of John King.
But 99% of capital punishment is unneccesary, much of it is done erroenously, and the punishment is definitely not meted out with any kind of consistency in any jurisdiction in the United States. Except in very rare cases, life in prison without parole is cheaper and more effective method of protecting society.
Things like this happened far more in the past. I think it's just that we have more access to being advised when things like this happen and are able to find out who has done them. In the past, 70+ years ago, it was unlikely to catch a killer and hate crimes were the norm. Now that the country is more accepting of other people, hate crimes are all the more shocking. Yes, we're getting more stupid but (i would like to think) that we're just hearing more of the people loosing common sense and not that there are more of them (HOPEFULLY).
so lets see. non common sense...the 27 year old police officer in GA was somehow not as dead as MR Byrd? No evil there huh? He had just gotten out of the Army, had a wife and kids. He was trying to help another man being attacked. If these men in Texas were black I do believe certain Black leaders would use this to divide us. I make no comparisons with regard to the way Mr Byrd was killed. I am talking about hypocrisy in the black community and the bad deal their leadership is offering them. I know that Blacks are fair minded. In court 7 black members of the jury convicted Davis. They were given the facts.
I'm in favor of the death penalty in this case. There is NO question that this man was one of the killers. How awful.
I'm against the death penalty when the defendent claims they are innocent. I'm against the death penalty if there is ANY question as to the perpetrator.
What these people were convicted of doing was beyond evil. What Davis possibly did is also evil. Because so many original testimonies have been recanted, in the Davis case, from my perspective, there are too many questions to continue down the current path in any case. In all cases, I don't believe in the death penalty. It sinks us to the same level of those who do this kind of barbaric crime. That is all in accomplishes. And to those who hysterically say things like, "you mean if it was your own daughter you wouldn't want them executed," the answer is no, I would not want them executed. It doesn't bring anyone back. Revenge killing, which is all capital punishment is, doesn't satisfy in a healthy way...it makes us bitter, it makes us like those that commit these heinous crimes, and it reduces us to levels that don't permit us to live a healthy life. I am always amazed at how much hate is on this vine. It's so much more rewarding to live a life that doesn't include hate. Some of you might try it...your lives would turn around.
That's what I thought.
Saying "thats what I thought" before allowing an answer make you look silly.
For the record - I am pro-death penalty and also pro-choise so take your ill-informed stupid presumptions some where else. People who commit atrocious crimes regardless of race should be put to death. So much for your sherlock holmes deductive reasoning eh?
YELD - Pls desist w/ the generalizations. I am and have always been a bleeding heart liberal and I support the death penalty. I also oppose gay marriage. I will fight for the freedoms our Constitution promises as well as the unwritten rights like equality in and availability of public education, healthcare, housing, aid for the poor, and other "bleeding heart liberal" causes (including the environment). But I have no problem w/ the execution of people guilty of heinous crimes. It is an effective deterrent and a just punishment. And for those waving the wrongfully accused banner here, the guy confessed to chaining him to the back of the truck. So what he wasn't driving, he knew what the end result could or would be.
I understand why people are against the death penalty in most cases, due to the "imperfections" of our legal/justice system. However, there doesn't seem to be any possibility of wrongful conviction in this case here. Perhaps we need another standard for sentencing to address these types of heinous crimes of which there is virtually no doubt that the accused is guilty.
Conviction for murder meeting the standard of beyond reasonable doubt = qualifies for life sentence
Conviction for murder meeting the standard of beyond shadow of a doubt = qualifies for death penalty
Funny - there are no liberals at death row protesting this one.
Sure makes it look like just politics, instead of any real problem with the death penalty.
In the US there are about 50 executions of criminals a year.
In the US there are 1.32 MILLION executions of unborn children a year.
A liberal will tell you that we shouldn't have executions if just 1 person was innocent.
And yet, all 1.32 MILLION are innocent.
So next time you hear someone whining about the death penalty, this is an excellent example to bring up. No protests if you are a white who kills a black. Interesting.
This broke my heart 13 yrs ago and it's breaking again today. I wish I could be there when they execute this P.O.S. so I could spit in his racist face. As far as the town's unfair reputation goes, sorry but it comes with the media territory. If it happened 50 or 60 yrs ago no one would no anything about it. It's just the way it is.
"b" you do not fit the generalities of MOST liberals. Opposing the death penalty is one of their defining qualities. And you are also against GAY marrage?? This is another one of their flag standards.
"Mike" since you refuse to answer in this specific case (As I said you would), no doubt, you meet the double standards of the liberal mASSES.
I'm against the death penalty if there is ANY question as to the perpetrator.
Im am pro death penalty, but as a reasonable man I agree that if there is a question then it needs to be resolved, there is no going back after the man is executed, and I think there is some question as to the guilt of Mr. Davis, he deserves to have those questions resolved.
There are a TON of us like "B" out here. We stand for what we stand for, NO Apologies. Some of you feel as though you have to tow the party line to fit in. Get a backbone and stand where YOU stand, not where others tell you to stand. DINO, RHINO call us what you will, we are informed and stand for our morals.
As for this case, He's gotta go. The evidence is clear. Do I believe in the death penalty but not as a rule. Too much room for error. People are people and they make too many mistakes, (especially overzealous cops and prosecutors) besides I never got the concept of killing the guilty when you could make them suffer...
Ryan its guys like you I'll never understand the key word in your statement is "UNBORN" you don't know when life starts and its that mother and the FATHERS choice not yours and not anyone else's last time I checked abortions are legal in this country and MURDER is not. Secondly if you care so much about abortions why don't you and the other penis carrying card members start an organization to educate young fathers on how to raise a family and maybe these decisions won't happen, just a thought.
Some good points but also some other things to consider if you will:
Most (Many) of today's fathers are nothing more than sperm donors. Most still living off their parents and even grand parents who actually worked/still work for a living. many of today's sperm donors have no jobs not because they can't find one, but because they really don't think that they should have to work for anything. It has become the entitlement generation. You have heard of the Great generation, and now we have the very worst, the entitlement generation.
Also just because certain things are legal, doesn't make them moral. If we are going to stand on our morals, they damn well better not be tied to or solely based on what's legal.
Have to agree here. A needle and a nice peacefull sleep is way to good for this sub human. Maybe we should tie him to the bumper of a polce car and drag his screaming behind down the interstate at 70 miles an hour. Lethal injection (nah) too easy, electrocution (nah) too kind unless they start at a low voltage and slowly increase it. Either that or my first idea. Either way this guy deserves the death penalty. Bet they have a few volunteers willing to give him the coctail.
man john429485 i gotta question weather you are racist or not cuz it sounds like you are. how can anyone in their right mind take up for these people. what they did is devilish and of pure hate. maybe if they dragged one of your family members or friends down that road you would sing a different tune. weather the guys dragged a black man or a white man or a latino man or a chinese man it doesent matter it was wrong PERIOD.
Its ok guys, John is just a racist punk who doesn't give a @!$%# about any of this. He doesn't care that a man was brutally murdered, or that another is being executed. All he wants to do is get a rise out of people by replying to every single message thread on this blog; mostly irrelevant replies. Get a life man! and while you're at it, get a soul...
john, Regarding your post at 3.3: Your post is meaningless and pointless and has no bearing on any statements made on this Vine. Karma! It's a beitch, isn't it?!! ROFLMAO
I don't believe John is taking up for these things; he'd stated he agrees with the sentence and the one in GA. I believe he stated that adding another charge would be pointless, as death is slated for today.... what purpose would that serve? Can only be killed once to the best of my knowledge.... another charge now would drag out the execution, and as far as the past - that's over.
I wish that these idiots, this one in this case, weren't allowed to suck more oxygen for 13 years when any sliver of doubt is removed and are more than clearly guilty. But, I realize that any conviction is supposed to be 'beyond any reasonable doubt' and that line cannot be crossed... the appeals exist for a reason. Still, part of me says that in a 100% case such as this, there could be some remedy pertaining to the appeals and timeline....
Get a Soul.? For John 429485? Are you kidding? Pigs will fly then. He doesn't know he hasn't one and he'd never know if a soul wrapped itself around his bigot head.
He or it should leave this message board and crawl back into whatever slime pit that he came from. Permanently.
As for the creature (who apparently have a mind set similar to that of John), no one here with a right mind considers the color of his skin when condemning his act, only the the brutality of his crime that ended an innocent life in an unspeakable way. The jury saw that too with the evidence presented to them, so he was convicted. What he gets though is way....better than what he actually deserves!
Oh really DKW? then lets sing kumbya. The racist door swings both ways. Racismis good for business for Al, Jesse, and barrak. It shuts people up (sometimes) it makes them feel guilty to give to the good Reverends cause. himself. Thing is you all do complain to much. You just used it too much to matter any more.
weather the guys dragged a black man or a white man or a latino man or a chinese man it doesent matter it was wrong PERIOD.
Actually, it does matter. The guy who was dragged to his death, was killed precisely because he was a black man, and for no other reason.
We live in a place and a time where blacks, Latinos, and some others are very often not accorded the same rights and dignity as everyone else. Beyond the acts themselves, the BIGOTRY is wrong.
And it is irrelevant if another place or time is or was worse. We are here now, and we are the ones who can make things different. We are the ones who can make things right.
I keep reading about racism and how all you hypocrites keep trying to say you aren't racist. Funny how the comments you don't like get collapsed.
The truth is, any time a white says anything the least bit negative about a black, Mexican, Chinese or a Jew, they are called racist. We are being forced by our government whether it is Federal or state to be racist because we have to cater to minorities. It doesn't matter that the white man/woman is better qualified for the job, the black person male/female will get it. That is a fact, like it or not.
I am white and have worked all my life. We raised four children that all had jobs at sixteen and turned out to be hard working responsible adults with good jobs. My neighbor is a black woman with seven children that never had a job. She is getting free housing, food stamps, monthly checks, etc.. So far I have had to replace two broken windshields in both of our vehicles, repaint the outside of our house because of graffiti and replace tires on our vehicles that were sliced. All this and more in the past six months they have lived there. Before that we never had any problems. I know that if I said they were responsible for all the damages we have had I would be called a racist.
Ditto to the lethal injection comment. As Marcellus (Pulp Fiction) Wallace so succinctly put it.
"What Now? Let me tell you what now. I'm call up a couple hard, pipe-hittin' black dudes and go to work on homes here with a pair of pliers and blowtorch. You hear me talkin' hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn site. I'm going to get medieval on your ass".
Agree 100%......this guy should die the EXACT same way that he committed this murder. Lethal injection is way to humane for him or ANYBODY who commits a crime such as this!
The truth is, any time a white says anything the least bit negative about a black, Mexican, Chinese or a Jew, they are called racist.
That's hogwash and you know it.
But when you generalize about someone based on some biased or stereotypical view you have regarding their ethnicity, you really are exercising bigotry. When you judge GROUPS instead of individuals, you are doing something wrong.
Why not treat each individual like a person? What's wrong with judging each individual based on his or her own words, deeds, intentions, merits and demerits?
You don't represent all white people (your views certainly don't represent mine), any more than one particular Jew represents all Jews. And so on.
You have none. If a person said Obama is a total jackass and is destroying us and our country, they would be called racist. Why? Because he is black and is the biggest racist of all. He totally caters to the blacks. especially the black Muslims. If you or anyone else says that isn't true then you are lying. Then I would have to call you a racist because you disagreed with what I said because I am white.
You can say President Obama is a jackass and destroying the country all you want. It's a rather silly and unsubstantiated opinion, but it's your opinion, and there is nothing intrinsically bigoted about it.
But when you start in on the "birther" nonsense, or make statements such as "he is black and is the biggest racist of all" or "he totally caters to blacks, especially the black Muslims" you are slipping into delusional fantasies that are based solely on your own prejudices and a lot of disingenuous propaganda neither of which has anything to do with reality. Those opinions mark you as a bigot (he is a racist because he is black; he caters to blacks and black Muslims because he is black, blah blah, blah). Talk about projection.
We disagree because our perceptions and evaluations of those perceptions differ, not because one or both of us are 'white' or 'non-white'. The entire concept of "race" is an artificial, man-made construct. It has no scientific validity.
I am white, quite well off and was raised to hate Blacks.
I hereby state that Obama does not cater to Blacks.
Your problem is you never saw him as anything but Black, and it makes you mad that a Black Man won the presidency. You parrot the lines propagated by racists like you. That is sad.
So I guess you will have to call me racist. If it pleases you go right ahead. I have been beating back the ingrained racism I was taught as a kid, it is a journey I will be on my entire life. But I will still work towards that end.
I just stated the true facts about Obama, he is a racist of the worst kind and he is destroying our country. He is responsible for the slaughter of our young soldiers that have died since he has been in office. He said in his campaigning that the first thing he would do if he was elected president would be to end the wars and bring our troops home. He is a liar and an anti- American, as his wife is also.
If anyone should get the death penalty for killing innocent people then it should be Obama and Penetta. How many more of our soldiers will die fighting for Obama's Muslim brothers and friends before it is over?
Are you kidding me? First off he should be referred to as President Obama or Mr. President. Was it not our former President would started the envasion, I can't call it a war because he went there to further his own personal agenda and greed. He not Pres. Obama put this country and our young people in harms way with no real answer or plan to get us out. Get over the fact that a black man is in office. You sound like a recording of FOX news... Obama is responsible for all the countries ills.blah blah... I see you suffer from short term memory loss. I ask
what shape was this country in before he took over?
You must be what Obama would call typical white people. Clinging to your religion and whatnot.
How dare you point out that there are no protests in this death penalty case but there are when it's a black man on death row.
Bringing up valid facts like that is a sign that we need more affirmative action. Until you recognize that every problem not created by Bush was created by white people, we will need more affirmative action Presidents.
You can see how well Obama has brought us all together in just 3 short years.
You call Odumbo what you want. Don't even try to tell me what to call the ingrate. President Bush was ten times the leader Odumbo wishes he could be. Obama welcomes his brother Muslims into our country with open arms. He provides them with financial aide and weapons then uses our armed forces to fight wars that are no threat or concern to our country. He doesn't care if a thousand of our soldiers are killed or ten thousand.
We have families struggling to put food on their tables and losing their homes because they can't find jobs. At the same time Obama, family and friends are taking luxurious vacations on the taxpayers money. Obama is responsible for all the deaths of our soldiers that have died since he took office. Their blood is on his hands. Obama has been in office for almost three years and has involved our military in more wars instead of bringing our troops home as he said when he was campaigning. A total loser and an insult to our country and the American citizens.
We were a lot better off when President Bush was our president. Statistics speak for themselves, do the research.
While Obama is telling the people to stop spending and tighten their belts, he is planning another vacation that will cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. Michelle's little escapades has already cost us ten million dollars. They should have to pay out of their own money. The hippo hips should just stay home and raise her own children. She should not be allowed to have more than two assistances, if that, certainly not 23-24 on the payroll that we also have to pay for.
I am a speed reader and sometimes I read things incorrectly. When I read the headline I saw "Smegma lingers......". Well, maybe in this little town it really does.
frankly your not very smart. I thought I was disappointed because a progressive socialist was elected to the presidency. Just how black is barrak? Not very
I'm white. So what? Racism is pointless to me. It always has been. I was raised to understand that no matter what another person looks like or sounds like or comes from it doesn't matter. Everone of them is a human being. We breathe the same air, bleed the same color. Who cares what color packaging we were born in? People are equal no matter how much others try to deny it.
Gun - Individual racism may rear its ugly head but two white men are going to pay the ultimate penalty for taking the life of a black man. Do not tell me that times have not changed.
I can never understand racism. I spent 20 years in the Air Force and never once thought I didn't want this person (male or female) beside me when the lead started flying because of his color, religion or anything else! Except: I did think (once that I can remeber) I didn't want him near me because he was stupid and coouldn't shoot well. Actually he was white but that was irrelavent the fact that he was more likely to hurt one of us or get us into more trouble was the ONLY thing that was relavent. Period. I never get where people think that color or religion makes somebody better or worse than me.
Alan, you are so right. When it comes down to it, the only fear or hatred I have for another person is the fear that they will cause me harm or cause trouble for me or my family. It does not matter what your skin color is if you are a knuckle-head, you are a knuckle-head. I know I will never see it in my time, my grandchildren or my great-grandchildrens time, but I believe it will finally wear thin and become something of the past. An ugly look back into the history of mankind.
Then again, I also have a bridge for sell if anyone is interested.
gunman - I will respectfully disagree. Although racism does still exist in this nation and all over the world, it is slowly losing its grip. As our world becomes more exposed to the plethora of other cultures racism dies.
While I was growing up I was constantly exposed to racism and it was instilled in me to not trust or like those who were not white. When I joined the army that ended very quickly. Today, I could not care less about a persons skin color or ethnic background. The only thing that matters to me are your actions. How do you carry yourself and how do you treat others. Those are the things that matter.
John,
There are many people who disagree with President Obama because of his race. How many other presidents in recent times were hung in effigy like they did at Baylor University, Waco, Texas? I have heard enough people call him disparaging, racist terms to know that racism is playing a part in government today.
So Catydid. I have to vote for him too... Damn it man. If I don't I am racist? Wow. There goes our freedom for the sake of Political correctness. I hope you realize just how silly what you are saying is. By the way I said politician. You added Obamas name. We have many black politicians here in the USA.
Lndhand - Like what you had to say. Day to day the change is basically invisible but over time, there has been a shift. And 50 years ago, no, there would not be white men on death row for the death of a black man.
Today most of the out-right racism is frowned on but the silent acts still prevail. Ignored or denied.
Good books: Privilege, Power, and Difference by Allan G. Johnson. If you pick it up and think the man is out of his mind, humor me and keep reading. He'll will bring each point to clarity. Even if you don't agree with everything he offers, the book is eye-opening. Also, Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack, by Peggy McIntosh.
I have a copy of the front page of Google that made it to the headlines. A person was searching "white person stole my car." Google came back with, "Did you mean black person stole my car?" It's everywhere. Racism, sexism, ageism, it's the foundation of America. Not everyone will ever be equal in law. It's the whole "pull yourself up by the boot straps" ideology. It's hard to get to the top from the bottom. Those that do are few and far between but they are advertised to keep the theory alive.
Gee guys haven't you heard... In today's world you are a racist if you disagree with a black politician.
Actually you're racist if you condone gatherings where the participants hold up pictures of the black president with a bone through his nose. Nice try though.
This is not true, the key is to teach young people that there is no difference. my family has moved from north to south, and we are a young FAMILY so no difference has allways been taught, anything other than will not be tolerated. that is the way people change. show that there is no difference. do not dwell on the past and other ignorant mistakes..... the world is changing. so what is the diferance? people that make coments that racism will never change are the people that are teaching that it will not.
You sound IGNORANT!!! "Blacks will never allow it" that's like saying that a women who has been raped OVER and OVER and OVER again for last 20 years wont let healing begin.. You idiot whites have been and still are the sole perpetrator of racism...Your mentality is that of a white devil very subtle but attempting to blame the rape victim for the rape.........PLEASE!
Wdill, the "all men are created equal," statement in the Declaration of Independence didn't mean black people at that time they were considered cattle. It wasn't right then and it's not right now and being dragged to death would have to be the worst death imaginable, it's a shame they can't execute people the way they killed their victims... This monster is unbelievably cruel.
Your a racist if you carry a sign like that, not if you are at a gathering. The political target is not the 2 or 3 people with signs. That would make no difference in a election. It is to paint all apposed with a tainted brush to silence them. Right out of the Liberal hand book Rules for Radicals. If you can't see the unfairness in that then you are being led around by your political ideological nose ring
I agree with that statement COMPLETELY! Neither side will ever let racism die. I'm just gonna put itout there. I am black and I feel a large number of african americans are looking way to hard to find the racism in everyday life and white people are trying way to hard to prove they're NOT racist. For us african americans "IF YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH YOU'LL FIND IT (even when it's not legit) and for you white folks, "TRYING SO HARD TO PROVE YOU'RE NOT RACIST (I have black friends...really)"...that only reflects negatively on you. So I suppose the answer should be I should live my life and you live yours and everyone should respect others, as simply as it sounds it's sad that we can't do it.
Racism will never die in this country, neither the whites or blacks will allow it.
Or brown, yellow, red, green, purple, polka-dotted or paisley, male or female people.
Small, insecure, scared people must find someone to hate and feel superior to. It's a shame that it still exists and that there are race-baiters of all colors and ethnicities. Maybe someday, the Human Race out-grow it, but I don't expect it happen in my lifetime.
That's baloney Mike-416. I've read posts where it's assumed that people such as myself are racist if we don't agree with Obamas policies or whatever. That "Not agreeing" with him is somehow a code for Racist. I don't get it myself. If I don't agree with Barney Frank does that make me against gays?
People may disagree with President Obama, but it is not because he is black. It is because of his Ideas and policies. But when someone does disagree with him, he/she is labeled a racist. Just for disagreeing. So yes Catydid, "racism is playig a part in governmet today" you are correct about that. The incident in Waco does not out weight that thousands that come from the other direction. I do not care that Obama is black, I am sure that people do on both sides, but I do not like to be called a racist because I do not agree with him. And that happens more than the Waco thing. I guess you have to be politically correct when you protest too. But when Bush was Hung and burned in effigy (several times) no one called for racism. Even on the day Obama was inaugurated, Bush was burned in effigy. Racism? I do not think so. They were just glad he was gone.
Onextreme; there's alot to what you say... unfortunately.
Closet racists go out of their way to say 'friends of x color' and there are blacks that pull the race card as well as whites that pull the reverse race card. Sadly, it's partially because that's still how things are for some; some families, some cities, counties.... but it is, indeed, overused and is stifling progression.
It's America, and being black there's some areas you wouldn't go into and being white there's some I wouldn't (of course, there's the gang areas of East LA that no one can go into, but different story). But, I'm one that believes I've seen changes and DO believe that my grandchildren't world will be much different.... I DO believe things are really getting better, not worse, pertaining to tolerance.
These abominations that did this are getting theirs, though rather unfittingly comfortabley if you ask me...
thanks alan for your service and insight. l love it whenever racists must face reality. in the 70's i received death threats for suggesting such radical views as blacks and whites should be able to worship together (grew up southern baptist). i watched as we gathered at basketball games and cheered on our predominantly black team, and listened at the brutal insults being said about those same athletes behind their back. I saw a well-to-do family disown their white daughter, also a basketball star, for her scandalous relationship with one of our black male star players. it tore the family apart, yet the "interracial" couple are still happily married with beautiful children today. i listened to my own father chastise me for riding around with my black friends after the games, worried about "what people might think", to which my step-mother admitted that "no matter how far they bus 'em, her children were above black people, and they are closer to apes than humans". it was beautiful watching her squirm in discomfort whenever her oldest daughter would bring her "yeller" baby to family reunions later after her second marriage to a black man, when her first marriage to a good ole white boy turned out to be classic domestic violence. the "black man" helped raise her two white daughters and made two of the most beautiful babies you ever saw. even my dad and my other brother-in-law had to eat their hatred for blacks when my niece came home with her first "half-black" baby (she now has five, all with the same father who is in the military and seems to be the perfect father). all this to say i have seen my share of racism. so, john429485, i did feel i HAD to vote for that "black politician" you speak of, just to cast my vote against all the good ole white boy christian conservatives too hypocritical to admit they don't just hate President Barrack Obama, because he is 1)black, 2)muslim, 3)Kenyan, 4)communist/socialist, or 5)demon-crat/lib-tard; they hate him for the same reason they have hated jews, catholics, and mormons before him, because they are different. I voted for Barrack Obama because of guys like this piece of dirt in Texas, who are the terrorists we should fear the most. I also HAD to vote for him because of my spotless record of voting for the "best man" when I voted for Bush 1, against the gipper (the greatest actor to ever play the part of POTUS), or when i voted for slick willy, in order to get the warmonger/profiteer out of office before he started dropping nukes, and even when i was stupid enough to vote for Al Gore, even though my rich billionaire friend in texas assured me the election had long ago been bought and paid for, and baby-bushy-boy would be appointed (annointed) our next king. yes, i voted for Barrack Hussein Obama, not because i thought he was any better than any other lying, cheating, over-paid, over-sexed, or over-hyped politician, but because he was BLACK, and i was still naive enough at my old age to believe he could make a difference, even if it was just by being different. all that said, yes, racism is alive and well in these great DIVIDED states of America...but at least once this execution is over we will harbor one less terrorist, one less racist, and i can be thankful it is not one of my family members, or one of my congregation!
@nanya, you sound like a black racist! the post said WHITE AND BLACKS NOT JUST BLACK!! how ignorant can you be??? the past was wrong, the slavery, the black people of today's ancestors. they are now living in a period where our nation strives for human equality. your statement would be accurate if we were living in the year 1930 but really??? i feel as though more blacks are discriminating on whites now a days. where i live i know latina girls and black girls that didnt like me just because i was white. who are the guilty ones now? how unintelligent. please, remove yourself from speaking on this
John-429485 , I suspect a previous poster is correct: You are just a VERY young troll trying to stir up discontent here. The reason I know you're VERY young is your poor spelling, incorrect grammar usage, and incomplete sentence structure. I choose to have intelligent conversations with adults on the Vine, not children. It's my suggestion that you concentrate on your high school courses and come back here when you have figured out that what you write here is a reflection of you, i.e. education level, morals, etc. If you were mature, you'd release your ego and use the spellchecker feature provided. You may fool some of the people here but you are NOT fooling ALL of the people. Please go to school now!
Agreed Steve. What some don't understand is that it is just as racist to support Obama BECAUSE he is black and it is to not support him because he is black.
Nanya - Wow, who's racist now? Unless you were speaking solely to one person saying *he's* and idiot. I don't see the point of pointing out the fact that he's white or using the term "white devil".
You may want to change your statement otherwise you're no better of a person than the 'white devil' you disdain.
Nanya..you insult me...something I wouldn't do to you.
Why so hateful? I don't care what color you are. You, like all of us, are a human being, and it doesn't matter if we were all different colors or had spots and stripes...you need to be a good person and try and live your life the best you can.
You idiot whites have been and still are the sole perpetrator of racism...Your mentality is that of a white devil
I believe that's racism. Nanya, you can't call white people "the sole perpetrator of racism" and then call them "white devil[s]" in the same sentence. You are perpetrating racism. And I believe that was the point of gunman's post.
John,
I don't give a rat's behind if you agree with Obama's policies. For that matter I don't agree with him half the time and if Huntsman ran he would get my vote, but I still stand by what I said. Furthermore, to the poster who said Bush was burned in effigy, when and where in the states did it happen? Bush made some serious mistakes as president and people called in dumb which was regretable because he did have a job I sure wouldn't want, but they did not make racist comments and threaten his life like they do with Obama.
Racism will never die in this country, neither the whites or blacks will allow it.
Sounds good, but what a bunch of baloney. Before the Civil War there were plenty of folks saying that blacks didn't want an end to slavery. In the 1960s there were plenty of politicians saying that blacks didn't want an end to segregation.
The victims of bigotry will always be glad to see it go away.
Trying to paint the victims as equally culpable parties to the crime is shameful, and does not help solve the problem.
Racism is an unfortunately sad part of life that will probably never go away completely. The only thing I wish to see is the day when it is as unacceptable for blacks to be racist as it is for whites to be racist.
It is one thing to oppose President Obama's policies.
It is quite another to pretend that he is a foreigner with no right to the office he was dully elected to. There is no way on earth that "birtherism", or the disparagement of Borack Obama as a "terrorist", "communist", "Muslim", is unrelated to closet racism.
Pictures of the President with a bone through his nose? Fake food stamps with a picture of the President eating fired chicken and a watermelon? A letter to Abraham Lincoln from a Tea Party leader, ostensibly speaking on behalf of all blacks asking that they not be freed because they prefer "welfare" to working: these are all signs of pure racism and have nothing to do with any policies that the President has ever endorsed.
Love it or leave it.... Well let me see. I am 54 years old. I spent 21 years in the US army. Have been retired from the military since 1998. I am now a plant supervisor at a large city hospital. I think I got my points across (punctuation mistakes and all) I can tell because your hair is on fire. Chill out and don't be an elitist. You must be very lonely. I don't think you understand things around you very well.
I too do not have one racist bone in my body! We are all the same, I am so sick of white hating blacks and blacks hating whites. This is the 21st century people, get over it.
The only thing I wish to see is the day when it is as unacceptable for blacks to be racist as it is for whites to be racist.
You mean you long for a day when it's okay for blacks to be racist as long as they don't admit it?
Get a grip. If you feel persecuted or discriminated against for being a white person in America in the 21st century you are just looking for excuses for your own personal failures that have nothing to do with anyone else.
Whine, whine, whine. Aside from the Sultan of Brunei, who has a cushier life than you do? If you haven't made it, it's your own fault.
It looks to me like Nanya proves gunman's point about how neither side will let racism die, just like ONEXTREME's very insightful comment pointed out. What astounds me is the hypocrisy of people like Nanya who can accuse someone else of being racist and yet have no awareness that they are implicating themselves as a racist at the same time.
I wonder how stereotyping someone based on their race has become an unofficial definition of racism. It's the sole reason why the word is so incorrectly used these days; well, that and the fact that it is a very loaded term, since no one wants to be called a racist (or any -ist, really). Let's go back to the days when racism meant thinking YOUR race is INHERENTLY superior to any others, or you DISCRIMINATE BASED on someone's race, not, "I heard a white guy suggest to a black guy to eat some fried chicken. He must be racist." Uh, no. He's stereotyping and the comment makes the white guy sound stupid, but it's not racism.
Well, in reference to gunman's post, he's right. Racism is far too good a political tool to let it go to waste, and being a victim of such a vague and misunderstood thing (in today's society, not the blatant racism of the past) can be fun. As for the guy who dragged another human being for 3 miles behind his truck, whether the deceased was black or white, that's a terrible crime and the perpetrator deserves his execution.
@commonsense.... You are a moron just trying to warp what I said. My only point is IF a white person is being discriminated against, that person is, for the most part, not supposed to say anything and accept it. And besides, I do not feel persecuted in the least. Heck for all you know I might be black, so your comment only shows ignorance.
Racism is alive and well in this country. When you have people who hate others just because they are not of the same race you have problems. This your not born with but, taught as you grow up hating people who are different from you. This has been going on for centuries in every country. It just seems like people have lost their common sense. And it get worse every year. Hopefully one day all these haters will wake up and see that were all the same race, HUMAN.
Just who IS raised in Section 8 housing, and what the HELL does it have to do with being racist? Some of the biggest racists live in the nicest houses. Or, they attend teabagger rallies where they pretend to not be racist. Or, they are at a Rick Parry debate and support killing people without health insurance.
John Mack, you're right. What does that have to do with being racist!! Just like Obama who attended Rev. Wright's church for 23 years...right, John Mack. Just like Obama said in his book, someone couldn't be trusted because they were white...right ..John Mack. Just like senator Robert Byrd?? Just like legalized racism...Affirmative Action of which I'm a victim of...right John Mack. It's all wrong. Just like this guy who dragged this poor man behind his truck shouldn't have had to wait this long to take an injection. "Strict constitutionalists"??!! You've lost your ever living mind John Mack. They misinterpret the constitution daily. One day when left and right stop supporting and START EXPOSING ALL RACISM in their own neighborhoods, in their own parties in their own families will racism have a chance to go away
"I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” — Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One
How about that one John Mack??
"Constituionalists" John Mack. copy and paste "separation of church and state" in to this board where you can find it in our consitution and I'll serve up my next pay check to your address. ACLU is a farce. The UN, ACLU, Obama and Sarah Pahlin can head up to the Arctic circle and organize communities for the next 100 years..
John Mack posted one of the stupidest comments here. Are you kidding? Do you really think that members of the tea party are all racist? It's ignorant people like you are destroying this country with hatred. You really need to educate yourself.
You must be a racist to make such a comment. I live in a very nice gated community and I have seen and heard how a few of the people in this community feel about other races, as well as the lower income families in their own race. So to say it is limited to people in Section 8 housing is racist within itself.
constitutionisburning some valid points, but the white man started it and the white man has committed most of the racist crimes, so the black racists can always say "We are just hating you back".
John Mack posted one of the stupidest comments here. Are you kidding? Do you really think that members of the tea party are all racist? It's ignorant people like you are destroying this country with hatred. You really need to educate yourself.
Many of you are very accurate in your posting. I am a Black man and very proud of the fact. I served in the Army for 10 years and one of the most interesting guys I met was a self proclaimed racist from South Dakota. We clashed for many years until we actually spoke to each other. Many of the things he said I did not like however they were true. I know I can not have Black pride and be mad at another man for being proud of who he is. I understand that not every white person does not like or trust me. I understand that many more people would approach me if I made myself approachable. I say all of that to say that we tend not to communicate with each other and when we do we find out that we are more alike than we are different. While everyone is prejudice it does not make them a racist. We all prejudge someone based on something we have experienced, seen or heard.
I think the problem with America is the fact that we tend not to get along as the "little people" therefore our politicians feel they must act the same to keep their faithful. When we unite at the bottom the top will have to respond in kind. Many of the rhetoric that is said by all political parties serve to divide rather than unite us. How can they compromise if we are not willing. We want less government but not where we pay taxes. We don't want the government messing with our guns but want them to tell women what to do with their bodies. We want to less oversight but want the same protections from companies.
We have to show a united front or we need to change our name to The Divide States of America to which we sit.
Ok while I am not sure what the Tea party is as I am not apart of it I have to say that there is one thing that John said that I do agree with. Racism has absolutely nothing to do with how or where you were raised. I was a section 8 kid and never looked at the color of other peoples skin. I was raised to believe that everyone is equal and just because they are black, Hispanic or any other race has no baring on the person they are or will become. I am white and one of my closest friends is black and another is Hispanic. Now I would also like to say that my ex-husband was raised in a very wealthy part of town and is passably the most raciest person I know so just because you have money or don't has nothing to do with how you feel about other people.
A few posts back someone said it was about the way a man carrys himself, I couldnt agree more. If a man carrys himself with dignity and pride he says all that needs to be said about himself. Im white, and I am offended by shucking and jiving, I dont care if the guy or girl doing it is white or black, its just behavior that offends me, I see no dignity and certainly no pride in that kind of behavior.
This has been going on for centuries in every country. It just seems like people have lost their common sense. And it get worse every year. Hopefully one day all these haters will wake up and see that were all the same race, HUMAN.
For centuries it was getting beter. It's only the last 15 years or so that's it's been getting worse in this country, and it IS getting MUCH worse. I haven't seen so much blatant and coded bigotry in this country since the struggle over desegregation in the 1960s.
Sad but true, John Mack. Fortunately it's not everyone in those groups, or even most, but there are a LOT of 'conservative' Publican politicians pandering to racist sentiments these days, unlike anything I've seen since the so-called 'conservative' Dixiecrats of the 1960s.
(For the record, I consider egalitarianism to be the true "conservative" value. Bigots just like to hide behind the label of 'conservativism'.)
commonsense, the only reason you see a drastic increase in "racism" is because the definition of the term has been perverted and twisted so much that many things can be labeled as such. See my comment in response to post 4; basically, stereotyping someone based on someone's race has been generally accepted as racism when it actually isn't. Is it okay to stereotype someone, period? Well, as long as you keep an open mind and are willing to change your opinion of the person as you get to know him or her; dismissing them and creating a set opinion of them in your mind based on a stereotype is foolish. Is it racism if I say black guys tend to play basketball? Absolutely not.
Another way the definition has been skewed: If it's "offensive" (another vague term) to a race, it's not necessarily racism. If it's clearly a demonstration of hatred or prejudice, then it's racism. It's unfortunate that such a touchy label and one with plenty of power can be applied so incorrectly.
Where are the ACLU, the pope, Amnesty Int'l, and all the other pain-in-the-a** bleeding hearts who oppose capital punishment for any crime, no matter how infamous? Why are they not pleading for this felon's life to be spared. Perhaps they have finally realised there are some crimes for which no punishment short of execution is appropriate!
How did the pope get thrown in that mix of people that work each day to protect the Constitutional rights of every American.
I love how idiots like the teabaggers hate the ACLU so much, when in fact they should be the ACLU's biggest supporters. The ACLU members are strict Constitutionalists.
Mr Mack, I don't know if I would say the ACLU members are strict Constitutionalists. Anybody else out there think that if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were alive today they would be members of the ACLU?
I would surmise that the reason there isn't an international outcry for leniency in this case is because there isn't reasonable doubt about the conviction, nor was there any reported improper court procedures that might have tainted the jury's decision.
They are there, it is just like you are the one who don't want to see it. Anti death penalty crowd are not like you where they only voice their opinion when it suits them. The reason Troy Davis has a big support and made it to the news is because there is NO EVIDENCE to link him to the crime get it?
I am right here. I don't think he should be put to death. He should be made to spend the rest of his life in a 5X5 cell with no one else other than himself. There should be no more human contact. Not even for meals. He did it and admitted he did it. But I wouldn't kill him as I don't believe in killing for any reason.
Now if it were me that were scheduled to be put to death I would have requested to be put to death immediately. I would rather die than live in prison for the rest of my life.
Anybody else out there think that if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were alive today they would be members of the ACLU?
Yes. No doubt about it. The ACLU defends the Constitution, and so would George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
Where are ...the pope ... and all the other pain-in-the-a** bleeding hearts
I'm pretty sure the Pope would call for life imprisonment rather than the death penalty. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says something along the lines that government has a responsibility to protect society from violent criminals up to and including the use of the death penalty when necessary, but that in modern society it is rarely, if ever, necessary to impose the death penalty to protect society.
I'm sure there are plenty of people either dislike the death penalty or think it is overused or improperly applied, but this guy really doesn't make a good poster child for their views.
The ACLU are revisionists of the Constitiution. They like to dream up alternate meanings that suit their agenda best and then go out and try to change the minds of weak minded people who will believe anything that is feed to them if you wrap it up in pretty paper.
If I could go back in time and bring Washington or Jefferson here so they could see what the ACLU has wrought, they would say "What the heck!!" "Send me back right now so that we can be more concrete in what we meant so that people like these can not warp and change what we meant."
Cammor, I believe you hit the nail on the head. Commonsense, the ACLU twists the Constitution to imply whatever they want it to imply, so in one sense they are defending "their" constitution.
Cammor and Regular-Guy have it right. So many folks on these post love to invoke the quotes of GW, TJ, Abe, and Ben Franklin but they, like the ACLU, always have their own defining spin on it. They think that quoting those fine Americans, puts their points in the same unarguable position. If you can't make clear what the intentions of your own words mean, without quoting others, maybe your point isn't strong enough to stand on it's own anyway.
Not the place for for that debate, Texana Deb, but if you insist...perhaps this crime would never have been committed if the murder's mother had had access to legal abortions.
Wdill, you are so funny. Good parents also have no good kids. Rick Parry is a perfect example. Terrible grades, no education, and no intellect. I guess Texas will elect just about anybody to be guvner, as long as they talk like an idiot and wear wannabe cowboy boots.
That is a silly argument UM. Although I am pro-choice, I can at least admire the consistent approach by pro-life/pro-death penalty people - they base their analysis on guilt and innocence. Pro-choice/anti-death penalty people have no logical basis. If society can kill a fetus under a set of rules, then why not murders? And do not tell me a fetus is not a person. I have held a 24 week old fetus after a miscarriage and its a person. So, feel free to wrap your conscience around the notion that a fetus is not a person but your wrong. At some point there is definitely a life interest in there needing protection - the trick is saying when.
Lndhand - it was not UMGator who broached the subject of abortion. It was
Texana Deb, but I guess that doesn't matter to you. It is apparent from UMGator's post that he/she is pro-choice, so why are you criticizing him/her for views that are the same as yours, or do you not understand what pro-choice means?
I am pro-choice and pro-death penalty. Lndhand - federal law prohibits abortion in the third trimester except in cases of danger to the life of the mother... and then labor is usually induced or a c-section performed and the resulting BABY (as it is outside the womb) is given every chance at life. A 24 week-gestation pregnancy is in the third trimester. That particular argument is MOOT. As someone who states they are pro-choice, I am surprised that you did not know that.
I think a needle is too good for the murderers in this crime. I say let them die by the same mechanism that they killed their victim.
The people almost use the same analyst the guilt or innocence of the fetus be born healthy, be educated and raise properly or become a burden to the system. He will need a handout. Somewhere down the line more and likely they themselves will have a child and one or both of them are going to need some kind of handout. That along gives the Republican party a base of a debate about all of the excess spending we have in handouts. This is why they are pro-life so stupid people continue to have stupid children politicians continue to have jobs. The apple don't fall to far from the tree.
big mack, I'm no fan of Perry, but for as you say an uneducated non intellectual man I'd say he's done himself pretty well. He's managed to get a degree, become Governor and now run for the President of the US. As for you we know you can type.
there are no opt out choices in religion, you either follow it all or none of it
Dream on. MOST people follow the easy parts and turn their backs on the hard parts.
Pro-choice/anti-death penalty people have no logical basis.
Unless you consider it 'logical' that the government should avoid making life and death decisions apart from the necessity of going to war.
That said, 99.9% of all abortions are tragic mistakes that rob the world of a valuable human being, and the vast majority of all death sentences should be set aside in favor of life in prison. Too bad adoption is so difficult.
Cat - I'm familiar with Roe v. Wade. I was not speaking to a legal issue but instead a moral issue. Specifically, is there a "life" at the moment of conception that should not be terminated (as most pro-life folks argue), or does "life" that merits state protection happen at some later point in the pregnancy but before birth (like Roe v. Wade held)? I was simply saying that morally speaking that is not an easy question to answer.
Scales, sorry for violating thread etiquette. I guess UM was OK for commenting in an off topic thread but not me? In any event, that does not change the fact that UM's comment was silly in the context of a pro-life pro-choice discussion, without regard to whether it was off topic or not.
I was not commenting to UMGator, And I did not say what my view on abortion is. What I did comment on is how can you be pro choice, to kill an unborn baby who has never hurt anyone, but be against the death penalty on murderers? It might not deter others from murder, but the executed murderer will never do it again. And don't tell me that being in prison stops murderers from killing. My sister in laws murderer got live and killed at least one other inmate.
Lndhand ... I agree that it's not an easy question to answer. The person best able to answer the question in ANY given instance of making a choice (to include adoption) is the woman who is pregnant. I can not answer that question FOR someone else - I can only go based on my OWN beliefs and my OWN situation. I can argue (for example) that a 20 wk pregnancy where it is discovered that the condition of the fetus is INCOMPATIBLE WITH LIFE (missing most of the brain, the stomach, most of the liver, all but 1/4 of ONE kidney {with the other being absent} and one lung) that it is best to terminate the pregnancy then and there rather than force the young mother to carry it until her body goes into labor - at 38 weeks - so that she will then get to feel it moving and know that it will die as soon as her body pushes it out. The emotional agony of knowing that she will watch her daughter die as soon as she is born is horrendous. The agony of knowing that unless the process is long and drawn out (an hour or more), she will have her daughter declared a stillborn and thus not be issued a birth certificate is cruel and unusual. But in that case, a "pro-life" OB delayed and delayed scheduling a follow-up until the young woman's pregnancy had entered the third trimester so that SHE wouldn't have a choice in the matter. He also refused to simply induce labor. This young woman had no health insurance so she COULDN'T go seek any other OB out ... The young woman in the above situation was the daughter of a very close friend of mine. I watched both women go through agony as the pregnancy continued and grief was compounded by knowledge that the pregnancy could NOT produce a living baby. The baby died after 25 minutes of struggling for breath and the NURSES refused to go check on them until it had been an hour since the birth so that the family could have at least a birth certificate.
My view is that government has no business sticking their nose into a woman's womb. You can not legislate morality - especially in a country that supposedly was built on religious tolerance and diversity. We are NOT a "Christian" country ... any more than we are a Muslim or Jewish or Buddhist or Wiccan one. We can NOT allow our legislatures to legislate from a standpoint of religious mores. Thus, the question of Roe v. Wade has to remain that the ONLY person who can make the determination of a) when life begins and b) whether to terminate a pregnancy has to be the woman who is pregnant.
Cat - I appreciate your point of view. I disagree with it slightly. First, I believe that at some point a fetus is a life that the state has an interest in protecting over a woman's right to privacy. I guess I agree with Roe v. Wade in that regard. I do believe that health issues can create a situation where the woman should have absolute say particularly where her health is at risk. This issue should be left to the woman and her physicians. Health reasons aside however, I think people who argue that a woman can terminate a pregnancy up to the moment of birth do real harm to the pro-choice viewpoint. Just my 2 cents.
You just showed your ignorance CarLover. The Tea Party is FOR justice. I love the two sided way you liberals act. If we convict murderers , the "Tea Partiers" are anti life (especially if the murderer is black). Now that the murderer is white, which by the way the last one was also, you STILL blame the Tea Party for the crime. Get real!!!!
This POS murderer is getting what he deserves. There are crimes in Texas, ANY murder as violent as the Latina girl killed by the Mexican national, The guy who killed the Indian store owners, and yes the Jasper three. They ALL deserved the death penalty, but I cannot remember why the third one did not get sentenced to death. May the two that did rot in anguish.
Racism is just another form of ignorance, born out of intolerance for those that are different. But aside from that this crime is so heinous, and brutal that it goes beyond racism, and becomes cold blooded murder of a dimension that defies reason.
These scumbags should all be sent to prison...in Mexico!
Bubba, that is the problem with prison in Mexico; they do not STAY there. Some of the thirty something people dumped on the road in Mexico had just done a walk-away from prison. No, this guy is getting what he deserves.
Excuse me racism isnt just ignorance because ignorance can be cured however the EVIL, HATRED shown in this country toward blacks since its inception isn't excusable at all as to brush it off as ignorance when millions of blacks have died in voyage to this den of demons!!
I think Nanya needs to move..oh..I don't know...where are there no white people? um...can't think of one solitary place right now...so..I guess we just have to put up with him/her and hope they aren't running around serial killing all of us "demons"...LOL Wow...some people are so tapped
Nanya, There are airplanes leaving this den of demons on the hour.
I will say this much to you. I have two boys that did not know the "N" word until it was said to them at school, by a black child..........!! I am doing my part.....How about you start doing yours or catch one of those planes!!
Commonsense, the remark was pointing out that in Mexican prisons, the prisoners do not stay there very long, so where is the justified punishment for a POS like these murderers. Stop trying to twist my words. I did NOT say that Mexicans or Mexico was in any way responsible. Only that their prisons are not secure. READ!!
Really? I amazes me how everyone complains about high crime and when our Governor takes a hard stance on it, he is deemed racist or an idiot. What do you people want? It is a fact that if the crime doesn't have a severe punishment, it will run rampant. Ex: abortion, yes abortion is a crime, it is murder without a punishment. Gov. Perry will get my vote for President and all the support I can give him, I am fed up with all this B.S. in this country. walk around my home at night and I will shoot you, I don't care if you are black or white. By the way I am white and proud of it. WAKE UP AMERICA!
Dave, What are you on about?? This is not about Texas as a whole. This is about three of the lowest forms of life taking the life of a human being in the most sadistic of ways. This could have happened anywhere.
serobes...........Really??? Ever heard of Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana.....just to name a few.
The Northern soldiers wouldn't fight with the black soliders they were fighting to free! Sorry dude, racism is rampant all over the U. S. and it isn't just about black and white.
This might be a good case to turn the three good ol boys over to Mr. Byrd's family. See what kind of punishment they can take after what they did to that man.
Yeah sounds like a good suggestion to me matter fact for anyone who commits murder the family should have a choice of how that sentenced should be carried out. Lethal injection my arse how about some gasoline, some barb wire me with a pickup truck and some matches. Lets see if he can take it like he dished it!!
Koning - your post would be more effective if you learned how to spell riddance. "Reddens" means "to make red or reddish". Readers have to focus on what the heck do you mean by "good reddens" rather than the overall meaning of your post.
@UMGator - Perhaps Koning was thinking of drowning these "racists" in a vat of tomato juice or, more gruesomely, stabbing them with a thousand spikes and letting their blood flow out to "redden" their bodies.
Or he just can't type. Yes people, grammar and literacy DO matter on the Internet, especially if you're trying to make some kind of argument. If you're just stating your opinion, though, feel free to state it as sloppily as you wish.
I use to work with a nurse who was raised in Jasper. She said that she knew Mr. Byrd and his family and that he was a good man. She did say that racism she exists in allot of smaller southern towns and that not much has changed in many of those towns. I hope that the execution for this human trash will send a message to those who think this behavior is still okay. I just wish it hadn't taken 13 long years to teach this lesson.
only education will help these people...and in a small Texas town...the idiots..consider education a joke...because in Texas education is a joke..and as long as education is not taken serious..we will always have clowns who make themselves feel better by putting other people down who are not White...
sherobes - I bet people...in Texas..could express their...opinions..more coherently..than You. Seriously, stop embarrassing yourself, especially when criticizing the education level of others. You may be the smartest person in the world; if you are, type like it. UMGator had the best post so far, in my opinion.
yeah, yeah, yeah, KILL the racist dogs, but lets not be so quick on the police killers, rape killers and robbery killers and all the other VIOLENT killers.
I guess those were not so hateful. What has happened to this country??
yeah, yeah, yeah, KILL the racist dogs, but lets not be so quick on the police killers, rape killers and robbery killers and all the other VIOLENT killers.
Energy issues aside, I'm sure we can build and operate more than enough electric chairs to go around.
UMGator, please stop with the spelling and grammar lessons today. People are just expressing their opinions like you and I. I have had no problem understanding what others have posted even with a few mistakenly spelled words. To err is human after all. We all have the privledge to post here so why not cut everyone some slack.
Southern - they can post sloppily if they wish, but UMGator is doing them the service of letting them know that they have less chance of being taken seriously. Is it necessary to type properly? No, unless you're in a professional setting. Does everyone make mistakes? Of course. But do you honestly look at a sentence containing the phrase "good reddens" and not laugh? Not even a giggle? Come on, that's not just a misspelling. The entire meaning of the phrase is different, and perhaps Koning really believes that's how to write "good riddance." If so, UMGator is definitely helping him/her.
Talk about punch, counter-punch, Eric Holder and the Supreme Court has stepped in on the 2 convicted inmates before this one. Perry is betting his campaign contributions that they will avoid this one like the plague because of the "hate" crime label.
It just goes to show the Governments do not give a damn about the victims or the condemned inmates. It's ALL political.
Most of the above commentary misses the point. As much as I dislike the death penalty (the poor and minority get it way more than the rich and white), jerks like that one are why we have it -- for the MOST heinous cases.
The prosecutors work hard to drive home the facts that it DESERVED the death penalty.
FINALLY-- Jasper, TX will always be aces to me. They turned their backs on the KKK and the Panthers.
What about the African-American man that was scheduled to die for the killing of two people? They execute him yet? Best idea to me, would be to put both POSs, black and white, on tables next to each other. Handcuff them and let them both go together. And race has been mentioned in this trial several times as well. Honestly, the world would be better off without both of them.
jogree, the ACLU will readily inform caucasions who call on them that they do not qualify for any assistance from them. But I'm still puzzled as to why this crime seems so much worse than the killing of the mother in front of her children, that they were commenting on the other day. I'm for capital punishment, but it needs to be fair.
Get your misconceptions checked and corrected please. Those who you think are ultra liberals who care only for non-whites fight for EVERYBODY and they have more heart than those who preach in churches and claim to choose life when they call for death for inmates they are not even sure they are guilty or not.
Black people don't hate, they aren't racist they are black. Just ask the NAACP, ACLU, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright will tell you the low lives deserved it.
If it were not for RACIST....there would not be a need...FOR...the NAACP, ACLU, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton...LULAC, Defamation League...these were ALL created because of RACISM..because we have people in the White race that have always targeted anyone that was not like them...which is the color white...your sarcasm is noted...but your intellect is weak
Oh, is that why the NAACP and ACLU were created- because of racism? What went wrong with that plan? Those organizations/individuals keep racism alive by promoting their arrogant beliefs, and living by "the world owes me because I'm black" creed.
I'm no racist, in fact, I have many friends who are races other than my own. All I'm saying is the world will NEVER see everyone as "equal" as long as you have public organizations who specifically promote "their own". It's all for one, one for all, or none at all.
In closing - what happened to this poor man is just pure disgusting. Nobody deserves to die the death he did. I think leathal injection is a slap in the face to the victims family. Why not save some money, rebuild the towns reputation, and hand these three punks the same punnishment? Tie their worthless bodies up to the back of a truck and drag them down the road..... That's justice in my book!
I beleive on an eye for an eye they need to chain this guy up and drag him as well so he can feel the pain, that this man went through. These prisons are overfull because we are to linient on them just stand them up against a wall let her rip just like Hitler did but even across the table all race and color that do kill.
It is amazing how quickly this story has become the focal point of the anti-this and anti-that groups, with people blaming everybody under the sun, including Gov. Perry, who was not even in office when the crime occurred.
This seems to me a fairly simple story, of a terrible crime for which justice is finally to be administered. While I personally think a simple death by lethal injection is too good for the condemned men, I also think it is a good thing that our society exercises some restraint, and does not start impaling such criminals in front of the Texas state house.
Wait, is this an article about a horrible hate crime made by a piece of crap human being who killed an innocent man in the most horifying way, or about a township crying about how it got a bad reputation from the crime?
This crime is old. They have since been convicted. This article is not about the crime, but about the community in which it occurred. One of those "human interest" pieces.
The sheriff of Jasper seems more concerned about the city looking like "idiots" then the healing for this horrific crime. Hate needs to stop in this world. We are all God's children and have a purpose for being here. It sure isn't to hurt one another physically or with words. We need to banish the devil and the evil he brings. We have to close the door to him.
May the family and friends of Mr. Byrd and the people of Jasper feel God's blessings and be able to heal. We must never forget what happened, so it may NEVER happen again.
What does a "bleeding heart liberal" and this execution have anything in common? Your comment makes absolutely no sense. OHHH so you mean that if you feel these racists murderes SHOULD die for killing someone just for the color of their skin, then they are bleeding hearts? Really? It's obvious what side of the fence you stand & actually belong on Mr. Hitler.
His comment makes plenty of sense bleeding heart liberals don't think anyone should be executed and my take is their crime is so heinous that even the liberal morons should be happy this guy is being put to death....does that spell it out clear enough Dan
I understand his statement,, usually liberals or anti death penalty groups protest at executions here in Texas...hopefully for this one they will not protest..but in order to fight against executions they probably will...this man should be executed..for his crime...
I'm from Texas, and for the writer of the article to state Jasper did not deserve the label that its got, is far from the truth..you can go to any small town in Texas and find people in those towns that hate anyone thats not White....I can not speak for the other small back wood town in other parts of the country..but I can speak for Texas...do not let this article misled you..or the study by Baylor..in fact Baylor University is located in Waco, Texas. Waco is an extremely small city(town)..is not as large as Houston, Dallas or San Antonio..and if I am not mistaken its history is not that great either...Waco is not a progressive town, sure its has a major University but thats about it...
The world is losing it's grasp of common sense and decency at an alarming rate!
Terrorism should be added to the charges.
John-429485,
You sound like you condone what these two worthless people did.
John-429485,

"Terrorism should be added to the charges."
Glad to see this psycho get his due.
Well said.
sorry but there is no doubt there.
So, if your daughter was raped and murdered, you would not want the monster responsible to be given the death penalty?
Usually those who profess such things do so out of an attitude of "superiority" rather than pure belief.
I am sure this is not the case with you though.
Please tell me that is not what went through your mind.
How dare 4 black council members vote to hire a black Police Chief.
Four white council members would never vote for a white Police Chief in Texas.
Unfortunately history is not on the side of the white racists of Jasper if you look back a little further than the author of this article did.
Texan's as a whole built their own reputation over many years.
Now live with it.
That's what I thought.
John...it's comments like yours that make all this racist BS linger...try not to speak if you're just going to spread your hatred...
Really?-1739510:
You're suspended for a day for violating #4 of the Code of Honor repeatedly.
This POS deserves to Die......
Racism is so old school bs that has absolutely no place in our modern society.
Good Riddance I hope they botch the job so he suffers.
This monster is a Nazi and the best way to deal with Nazis is to KILL them all.
Thoughts?
B seems Ok but just a little confused, but Mike is a lost cause. he don't know which way to go and just as you said, he will not answer directly.
Lou
Lethal injection may be too good for this guy.
Some crimes deserve a bit harsher death, IMHO.
Tea Tarded -
I agree. I believe that sometimes the intensity of the crime deserves an "uptick" in the level of punishment.
This crime is certainly one of those cases.
Cute Moniker, by the way . . .
Tea tarded??? wow how cleaver... that made just as good a point as the guy who had Lib tarded as his.... You so smart.
man john429485 i gotta question weather you are racist or not cuz it sounds like you are. how can anyone in their right mind take up for these people. what they did is devilish and of pure hate. maybe if they dragged one of your family members or friends down that road you would sing a different tune. weather the guys dragged a black man or a white man or a latino man or a chinese man it doesent matter it was wrong PERIOD.
Your post is meaningless and pointless and has no bearing on any of my statments.
I think he should be dragged to death like the man he dragged..I guess that's old Bible thinking, and eye for an eye.
In instances like this, I say we go Old Testament style; chain them up and drag them behind a truck until their dead. Eye for an eye.
Pray for peace.
And so on.
commonsense
Rangewolf
I am white, quite well off and was raised to hate Blacks.
I hereby state that Obama does not cater to Blacks.
Your problem is you never saw him as anything but Black, and it makes you mad that a Black Man won the presidency. You parrot the lines propagated by racists like you. That is sad.
So I guess you will have to call me racist. If it pleases you go right ahead. I have been beating back the ingrained racism I was taught as a kid, it is a journey I will be on my entire life. But I will still work towards that end.
Happy Kwanzaa to you
commonsense
"Cute Moniker, by the way . . ." - Referring to Tea Tarded.
I thought it was politically incorrect to call someone retarded, which is what "Tea Tarded" is obviously referring to? Make up your minds, please.
Well, Tard Palin was taken;)
You must be what Obama would call typical white people. Clinging to your religion and whatnot.
How dare you point out that there are no protests in this death penalty case but there are when it's a black man on death row.
Bringing up valid facts like that is a sign that we need more affirmative action. Until you recognize that every problem not created by Bush was created by white people, we will need more affirmative action Presidents.
You can see how well Obama has brought us all together in just 3 short years.
Tea Tarded
Too Frikkin funny!!
Yea, I'm having a good day.
3 weeks since my last suspension as well;) On a ROLL!
OhioLiving
OhioLiving
We were a lot better off when President Bush was our president. Statistics speak for themselves, do the research.
While Obama is telling the people to stop spending and tighten their belts, he is planning another vacation that will cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. Michelle's little escapades has already cost us ten million dollars. They should have to pay out of their own money. The hippo hips should just stay home and raise her own children. She should not be allowed to have more than two assistances, if that, certainly not 23-24 on the payroll that we also have to pay for.
YouJustSaidWhat,
I am a speed reader and sometimes I read things incorrectly. When I read the headline I saw "Smegma lingers......". Well, maybe in this little town it really does.
frankly your not very smart. I thought I was disappointed because a progressive socialist was elected to the presidency. Just how black is barrak? Not very
I've said this before and it is confirmed on a daily basis: Racism will never die in this country, neither the whites or blacks will allow it.
Only the stupid ones.
Well put @gunman-3813827.
I'm white.
Racism may be will not die, but at least some racist murderers will - as long as there is death penalty...
Who was they talking about in the Declaration of Independence " all men are created equal"? Must have been in reference to the ones signing it.
Gun - Individual racism may rear its ugly head but two white men are going to pay the ultimate penalty for taking the life of a black man. Do not tell me that times have not changed.
It might have have change but only in appearance, even when the civil war took place they was not living by that creed.
Gee guys haven't you heard... In today's world you are a racist if you disagree with a black politician.
gunman - I will respectfully disagree.
You're wrong. Everything dies.
Maybe you should try taking a longer view...as civilization will exist for thousands of years after you are gone, at the least.
I'm sure people thought the dark ages would never end, but as you may know they did.
Catydid,
People may disagree with President Obama, but it is not because he is black.
Nanya, you are just the type I am talking about. Its time for you to take your meds, go to bed and when you wake up . . .
Nanya
2 or 3? ROFL!
Good posts, Catydid.
Jennifer, you are right.....
I too do not have one racist bone in my body! We are all the same, I am so sick of white hating blacks and blacks hating whites. This is the 21st century people, get over it.
There's your assumption of good faith for you...
Me? I long for a day when it is generally acknowledged that dark-skinned people can be just as bigoted and narrow-minded on account of skin color as white-skinned people, and that, more importantly, bigoted and narrow minded dark-skinned people are just as wrong as bigoted and narrow minded white-skinned people too.
Is that too much to ask?
Ingrid - thanks for the post and I'll check out the book you recommended.
Nanya-4145035, don't smear an entire race. You're suspended for a week for violating #1 and #5 of the Code of Honor.
Skye Blue, this is about the comment but begins to be about 'you' - the other Viner. Don't make it personal.
You are correct. Those would be the one's raised in section 8 housing Robert P.
As for myself, I wasn't raised that way. But the older I get, the more pissed off I become.
The only requirement for being a racist is that you be a human. It's not restricted to one color, or one socio-economic group.
And the congressional black caucus is for???
John Mack posted one of the stupidest comments here. Are you kidding? Do you really think that members of the tea party are all racist? It's ignorant people like you are destroying this country with hatred. You really need to educate yourself.
YellaHammer,
You must be a racist to make such a comment.
Not all racist - just most.
And not all black men love watermelon, fried chicken, and raping white women, just most, right Mike?
/I cannot emphasize the sarcasm enough.
G-Man
A few posts back someone said it was about the way a man carrys himself, I couldnt agree more. If a man carrys himself with dignity and pride he says all that needs to be said about himself. Im white, and I am offended by shucking and jiving, I dont care if the guy or girl doing it is white or black, its just behavior that offends me, I see no dignity and certainly no pride in that kind of behavior.
Romillo, It started when the Egyptians enslaved the Jews neither being white
Keep it about the comments, folks, way too much personal extrapolation going on here.
constitutionisburning, Whiteberry, andtoo123067, keep it about their arguments, not 'them'. You're each suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
Good job associating 2 things that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. How do you even find your car keys in the morning ffs?
How, exactly? What you did was stereotype an entire group of people based on your own prejudices. At least I put a sarcasm tag on my post.
I keep them in a shallow wicker basket by the front door. Why do you ask?
For centuries it was getting beter. It's only the last 15 years or so that's it's been getting worse in this country, and it IS getting MUCH worse. I haven't seen so much blatant and coded bigotry in this country since the struggle over desegregation in the 1960s.
Excellent comment, Robert P.
G-Man-
You hit the nail on the head! Thanks for sharing.
Where are the ACLU, the pope, Amnesty Int'l, and all the other pain-in-the-a** bleeding hearts who oppose capital punishment for any crime, no matter how infamous? Why are they not pleading for this felon's life to be spared. Perhaps they have finally realised there are some crimes for which no punishment short of execution is appropriate!
jbrodie ...where are all the pain-in -the-A_— pro life activists why arent those bleeding heart activists trying to save this scumbags life..
Yes. No doubt about it. The ACLU defends the Constitution, and so would George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
The ACLU are strict constitutionalists? That's a laugh. They are ideologues and push a progressive socialist agenda.
They are all in Georgia...............Trying to save Troy Davis.
I thought the governor of texas was pro life
He is pro life for INNOCENT unborn babies. NOt like you a$$- backward liberals who would rather kill a baby than a murderer.
As a Christian,as Perry claimes to be, you can't have it both ways-there are no opt out choices in religion, you either follow it all or none of it
Not the place for for that debate, Texana Deb, but if you insist...perhaps this crime would never have been committed if the murder's mother had had access to legal abortions.
UMGator
I agree, Dogs have dogs, cats have cats, and no good parents have no good kids
Speaking as someone who is pro-life/pro-death penalty, I say we take an abortion procedure and scale it up for these two monsters.
Ha! Good one.
Only if you haven't been born yet -- once you're out of the womb, you're on your own!
Jim, there's a great difference between Not wanting the murder of the innocents (abortion) and ridding us of the scum of the earth (death penalty).
big mack, I'm no fan of Perry, but for as you say an uneducated non intellectual man I'd say he's done himself pretty well. He's managed to get a degree, become Governor and now run for the President of the US. As for you we know you can type.
Dream on. MOST people follow the easy parts and turn their backs on the hard parts.
In any event, that does not change the fact that UM's comment was silly in the context of a pro-life pro-choice discussion, without regard to whether it was off topic or not.
scales
Nanya
I guess you must have forgotten who sold your ancestors into slavery, it was other blacks. But look on the bright side, you could still be in Africa.
Well Nanya if you hate us "evil" whites so much why not move somewhere there is no white people? (Good luck finding THAT "utopia")
Bubba and Texana Deb, why the smug and bigoted denigration of Mexico and Mexicans?
This horrible crime wasn't committed IN Mexico or BY Mexicans, Deb. It was committed in TEXAS by TEXANS.
Talk about "ignorance born out of intolerance for those who are different."
Fitzie! Whuts up?? LOL....
READ!!
There are a lot of things that make Texans look like idiots. This is only one of them.
Pretty wide brush you used there, Dave.
dave...reread how that poor man died...think about how it must have felt...how terrified he was...
No one should have to go throught that.
Texas...where the attitude about other races and ethnic groups, are viewed as non-human...the Texas attitude and B.S. created this monster...
Mbrammer...
Perry was not in office when this idiot murdered Mr. Byrd
Perry only works 3 hours a week..
Perry has absolutely nothing to do all day except play Politics
Perry is not and has never been a great Governor..
the state of Texas is almost bankrupt...READ A BOOK...and stop letting Perry blow smoke up your you know what...
You don't have enough money for Perry...
I AGREE with DAVE....
sherobes made 3 posts in a row and voted them up him/herself. LOL.
Anyways, people can think whatever they want of Texas. Every state has a reputation, pretty much.
serobes...........Really??? Ever heard of Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana.....just to name a few.
The Northern soldiers wouldn't fight with the black soliders they were fighting to free! Sorry dude, racism is rampant all over the U. S. and it isn't just about black and white.
You sir/maam are full of crap!
Lets see if he can take it like he dished it!!
farmall
Is this guy the first to be executed or did we already execute the other one?
Steve he'll be the first, the other guy is still in appeals and the 3rd got life.
Thanks for the info....:)
@1SGFitz.....thanks for answering Steve for me.
@Steve......didn't mean to leave you hanging on that one.
Good reddens to the old racist dogs. The world will be a better place with less racist and sick minded people like these...
Amen!
Racism exists all over the country, not just Southern towns.
(BTW, "allot" means "to assign as a share or portion <allot 10 minutes for the speech>". It's a lot.)
Racism is alive and well in the south except its reversed.
Well sounds like karma to me then!
Nurse
I did a lot of work in Jasper and you almost have to see it to believe it, the ladies in the courthouse were exchanging recipes for squirrel gravy.
Nanya, your bitterness is going to destroy you, put away your hate and enjoy the little time you have here.
only education will help these people...and in a small Texas town...the idiots..consider education a joke...because in Texas education is a joke..and as long as education is not taken serious..we will always have clowns who make themselves feel better by putting other people down who are not White...
sherobes - I bet people...in Texas..could express their...opinions..more coherently..than You. Seriously, stop embarrassing yourself, especially when criticizing the education level of others. You may be the smartest person in the world; if you are, type like it. UMGator had the best post so far, in my opinion.
Good reddens to the old racist dogs. This world will be a better place with less racists and hatefull people.
yeah, yeah, yeah, KILL the racist dogs, but lets not be so quick on the police killers, rape killers and robbery killers and all the other VIOLENT killers.
I guess those were not so hateful. What has happened to this country??
Once is enough, Konig.
SouthernBelle,
It's not "like you and I", it's "like you and me."
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Armando
Im trying to get a patent on a ten seat electric bench, saves time.
I LIKE THIS IDEA! Save us taxpayers some $$, kill both of them together!!
JBrodie you are so right! When it's a black or brown man, then they are all over the place. But a white man, no such forgiveness is handed out.
Double standards for all those as*holes who are suppose to be against capitol punishment.
jogree, the ACLU will readily inform caucasions who call on them that they do not qualify for any assistance from them.
White man kills a black man and its a hate crime.
Black man kills a white man and its murder.
Hate is hate and murder is murder. Both should be hung from the tallest tree and left as an example.
Black people don't hate, they aren't racist they are black. Just ask the NAACP, ACLU, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright will tell you the low lives deserved it.
If it were not for RACIST....there would not be a need...FOR...the NAACP, ACLU, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton...LULAC, Defamation League...these were ALL created because of RACISM..because we have people in the White race that have always targeted anyone that was not like them...which is the color white...your sarcasm is noted...but your intellect is weak
.
Amen, my thoughts exactly!!! Eye for an Eye should be the way it is. I think it would serouisly decrease these kinds of horrilble crimes.
This man is a total piece of garbage and needs to have been executed years ago...
And this guy saiod he would do it all again.
I wish the death penalty could have been carried out as soon as the sentence was read.
What a cold blooded killer. Good riddance.
Wait, is this an article about a horrible hate crime made by a piece of crap human being who killed an innocent man in the most horifying way, or about a township crying about how it got a bad reputation from the crime?
Seriously this whole article is misdirected.
God Bless AMERICA!
Even bleeding heart liberals should be celebrating this execution.
@jobseeker
I understand his statement,, usually liberals or anti death penalty groups protest at executions here in Texas...hopefully for this one they will not protest..but in order to fight against executions they probably will...this man should be executed..for his crime...
maybe they will order pizza and not take themselves too seriously
If America ever wants to end behavior like this man committed, televise the execution.
Now that would be reality television!
