As for the birth rate you can check the World Bank chart, very few countries match the increase in the increase in Muslim states, even India some Hindu leaders ask their followers to increase their birth rate to match the Muslim Rabbits increase. Same is true in Israel with Orthodox Jews.

Actually, the sweeping assertion that Muslims don't assimilate is a classic exercise of bigoted, stereotypical thinking. I know plenty of thoroughly assimilated American Muslims, as secular as they want to be and free to make that decision for themselves. American Muslims who pray to Mecca are not thereby "unassimilated;" on the contrary, they are enjoying the same religious freedom as all fellow Americans and if anything are concretely experiencing their assimilation much more profoundly than peabrained bigots who think there's something wrong about their style of prayer and want to interfere with their right to be themselves.

What's most absurd, of course, is that secular, "assimilated" Muslims pass us by every day and we don't recognize them as such because, finally, they look just like us in terms of dress and behavior. I'm not expert in the text of the Bible, much less the Koran. But I know that many parts of the Bible are incredibly bloody and related genocide sanctioned by the direct word of God. There are also other passages speaking of love and forgiveness for one's enemies.

People find in these religions texts what they want to find.

I would never take from someone their spiritual beliefs; none really know the answer to such quandries as the human mind has a deficit in understanding time... start, finish, eternity, forever, ..... and ... well, this is digressing some.

Religion severs purpose, and does more good than harm. It's got it's comforting side as well as 'keep in line', guiding somewhat side. It's when it's used for control and power, used to an ends to justify abhorent means that becomes the big problem as it's powerful in that aspect. What greater cause can you indoctrinate into someone to get them to do your bidding?

It's been going on in the ME for forever, now (for past decades) it's been more directed towards us as we've been playing cold war with Russia for some time over there and believe it or not, it's not gone over well.

Extremism is dangerous pertaining to anything, but with religous motivations is much more so because people can be convinced... unhappy, suffering, poor people.... that they're very eternal spiritual existence depends upon whether they're willing to die, Earthly, for this eternal existence.

Warring, power tripping, greed... it's all human nature, and would be and will be done under numerous pretenses.

I agree with Pittsburgh. Religion is dangerous and out of control all over the world. I have yet to see a single religion that can mind its own business and live an let live.

We will never have peace as long as this is the case.

Tolerance is peace. There is no tolerance in religion, any religion.

We do need freedom from Religion.

religious zealots are doing exactly that, every religious zealot is out to force his beliefs on others. And unfortunately they are everywhere. They have zer tolerance for the beliefs of anyone else. Or their freedoms.

No, that blanket statement has exceptions, but as exceptions they really prove the rule. It is exceptional for religious groups to come forth for peace. It is exceptional for religious groups to welcome in others of another religion. It is even exceptional for religious groups to respect and tolerate people of other faiths or lack there of.

All in all, blanket statement is true, with few exceptions.
