Wow. Reading all these awful comments have me sitting here wondering "Do people really think like this?" Its sad that we can't just mourn the loss of life here. They were children. Regardless of who their parents were. Should we be punishing all children for the crimes of their parents? It doesn't matter what country they were from or even what the person who did it was thinking in his mind as he was gunning down screaming children, the fact is that these children died in a horrific fashion and should be mourned. That is all I see here. Or that is all I am choosing to see here. I didn't read this story to pick out all the hidden political statements. I read it because I was concerned for the loss this country suffered. I will make my political statements on a story that warrents it. This is not the place.
I will consent with you that children don't have a place in issues such as these but how are they to know when that is all they hear or see? They should not be the ones to pay the price. But I also agree that nobody should have to pay the price for their governments acts regardless of what they are. Call me naive and say I have blinders on but I believe the death of a child. Any child. Is a tragedy. Not just these children but all children that have to die because of the beliefs of others. You're right. Nobody had a right to bring these kids into this but does that mean that they have to die? Perhaps some of those children would have grown and done something better for the world. How many people still believe the things they did as a child? Or what their parents taught them to believe for that matter? Children are easily molded to what adults want them to be but they grow up and become their own person and now these kids will never have the chance. If you believe that what this guy did was ok, thats fine. I'll let you have that. But what I will not and cannot comprehend is how you cannot even feel one little pang of sadness for the loss of life. Yes, worse things are happening. In that country and in all countries. I understand that as well. The world is in a terrible place. And the government doesn't help. But here is where I am talking about these children and in this place. I mourn the world on a daily basis.

It is most unfortunate that people believe hatred, death and destruction solves indifference. There are people that are unaware that diversity defines who they are and their happiness. When these people see something they do not want they want to destroy it. They are unaware that the more you focus or push against something that they don't want they only will ONLY perpectuate MORE of what they don't want. On the other hand there are people who are becoming much more aware. They understand that knowing what you don't want makes you aware of what it is that you do want and they make that the focus instead. In so doing geniune progress is made.
You can't force this awareness on people, in fact in doing so, it would be just as destructive as those who try to control the will of others. You can only influence them by your own life. They have to want to experience it for their ownselves.
It appears to me that Norway is an advanced country. Other countries that are not as advanced see their culture as being weak, but I do not. I understand it. In fact, it makes me feel joyful. I know that Norway will not be controlled by fear.. My heart goes out to all those who have lost love ones. May your memories bring you comfort.
