May these kids have as normal lives as possible and let these events not marr their optimism hope and faith in the goodness in the world.
With one of the most restrictive gun laws in the free world, Norway's government prevented these victims from defending themselves and protecting their families from this slaughter. May they rest in peace.
are you kidding?these are teens-are you suggesting they should have been allowed to carry guns to a youth camp in case a lunatic decides to go on a rampage?

I disagree entirely.
Norway has 4.8 million people, and they have about 1.2 million guns registered to 490,000 people (2010 statistics). With approximately 281 million people in the US, there are 200 million guns (2002 statistics). Is it any surprise that the death by firearms is 3.5 times higher in the US than in Norway?
No, arming the population is not the answer. It only creates more and more opportunities for people to shoot each other.

Unfortunately there's always some gun nut who thinks the answer is to arm all 12 year olds and fill their heads full of fear and hatred. Maybe we should go furthe and mke everyone carry a personal nuke just in case they can't shoot straight. Sure, I know. Extreme colateral damage but the bad guy would be gone and God could sort out the rest. It's the same kind of logic as arming kids.
It was the mixture of guns and religion that caused the deaths in the first place. The answer isn't arming more people. It is making sure the hatred filled speach is given a deaf ear and not promoted by the media for the sake of the almighty dollar.
Norwegians got it right. Haters don't deserve our personal attention or time. Perry's supporters got it wrong when he promoted violence towards the a human and non of the people said anything or turned away from him. This is the same blind faith that produced Adolph Hilter years ago.
"The Norwegians got it right"? Registered gun owners don't go on killing rampages instead they prevent them. Simply put, if not for gun control, Hitler would not have been able to murder 21 million people.
Anders was one of those registered gun owners. He attained his weapons 100% leagaly.
What a terrible situation this was and is. My prayer is that those who survived the attack and the families of those who didn't survive will be able one day to focus on the joys of the people they lost and were hurt. While it's probably much too soon for this to take place, the healing visit and other actions taken by the Norwegian government will in the long run be able to help them celebrate life.

Unfortunately, this type of event has stopped becoming jaw dropping news. We are all becoming desensitized (ok, at least I am) to these displays. I have no solution, no preventative measure to impart. There will be a next time, and a next and a next....
Absolutely Johnny, there will be a next time. People who hate other people for various reasons will continue to attack and kill. So, it's best to be prepared in case you become a target, by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. For that reason I "Carry." Being elderly I know that when I go shopping, whatever, I'm a prime target for thugs. There are some in our society who say that it is better to be mugged, raped, beaten and robbed than to defend yourself with a gun. Well, back to the topic, lol. Why in hell would anyone who survived that horror want to re-visit? I would want to put it way behind me and forget it. Visiting would only bring back memories best forgotten. If, possible of course. I guess some analysts would say that it would be good to visit, to face the past. Lol, to hell with that B.S.

Oh give me a break I'm sure he meant the adults there. Give the people in charge guns. If they had weapons to defend themselves not nearly the amount of people would have been killed. Fact.

Brievik was absolutely wrong for what he did. No doubt about it.
But as long as multiculturalism is being pushed on people, this will happen again and again.
There are those that love their countries and cultures, and want them to remain uninfluenced by people from other cultures and lands. This sentiment is becoming stronger and stronger each day.
Our governments need to stop the open door immagration policies that have created this atmosphere of discontent between the indiginous people.

And who are you to say they don't belong? Countries and cultures will be influenced no matter what as time progresses and technology allows others to learn about the ways of the world. Humanity needs to stop being so ignorant and educate themselves about other cultures before making assumptions and acting out maliciously. This evil guy says he needs to talk to others. What he needs to do is to sit in prison for the rest of his life and listen to screams of people he hurt and testimonies of friends and families who died from his actions of how much was lost. The penal system is all wrong. Mere incarceration is not going to change one's soul.

To Ihavesomethingtosay: Your opnion about learning and respecting other religions and beliefs is absolutely true. However, there is one slight flaw. Tell it to the Muslim terrorists who use that religion as an excuse to murder others in any country they so wish. It is human nature to mistrust anyone of that faith once we have gone thru 9/11, seen so many of our soldiers remains come home with flag drapped coffins. It's going to take a lot of broad minded thinking for all Americans to embrace everyone of the Muslim faith when they place road bombs out to kill, are ignorant enough to tie bombs to their bodies and blow themselves up (which is funny in a way if it were not for the fact it kills others). One dead terrorist works for me. If you are dumb enough to blow yourself up, you are a waste of skin anyway. However, your optimistic viewpoint won't be realized until every one of these terrorist fleas are done away with and that won't be tomorrow, so you better just learn to suck it up and accept others' mistrust and dislike of them.
