if your focus is to find solutions and share ideas, whether someone conducts him/herself as a "tool" is their problem, not yours. To react to it only makes your ideas less credible. If someone has emotional problems which causes them to act out, let them own it. Wht does it have to do with the subject at hand anyway? It only magnifies that their ideas must not have much strength and, most times, are not based on truth.

To react to reactionaries is not a very smart move. It is a common mistake in Jr High and not very impressive when adults do it. If your adult focus is easily diverted to childishness, it is a good clue that silence may be better than sounding off.

I understand how easy it is to be sucked into abusive posts by other posters...I have also done it. I also feel dirty and ignorant after I react to them. Think about it...abusive conversations/posts have nothing to offer that is constructive. Nothing. They are a form of acting out. Why even get involved? Would you get in a discussion with an abusive "crazy person" on the street? So why then do it here?

I think emotionally unstable is probably a better term here. Each one of them had charges pending or had been charged with something and they probably all figured that had messed up their lives enough they had nothing to lose.
I have to wonder, if that one brother had not been charged with marijuana possesion, would he have participated in this or would this have even happened. richard, i used to think the same thing. i discovered my kids get less sex and violence with x-box (son) and wii (daughter) than with many of the other kids. at least i have some control; when i gave in and allowed them to have cell phones and texting with the agreement they would be monitored, i was shocked at what kids are doing and saying these days. already exposed a junior high school sex and sexting ring whose super conservative parents were oblivious that the farm animals were not the only thing their neighbors son was helping "feed". i resisted the x-box evolution until my oldest son gave up his video games for a tour in the marines. trust me, sex and violence are safer on video, and i have one dead son to back me up on that.

There have been a few cases where people have tried things, even bad things just because they thought it would be cool to make a make believe world more real. There are plenty of cases where one transfer fantasy into real life with deadly consequences.

Examples: D&D there was a movie based on true events where this one kid who's mind was too unbalanced to distinguish fact from fiction and I believed wound up killing himself.

A kid a few years back killed his little sister when he was practicing wrestling moves he saw on tv.

This is not to say that video games, books, music, tv, or whatever is the sole root cause of the issue, but it definitely is part of the problem sometimes. We do not erase the human responsibility in these things.

This is why as parents, siblings, other family members, friends, etc. We keep an eye out for each other. If what Richard is saying is true, then there is something this mother missed (maybe not do to true ignorance or lack of care for her children) and the results of that miss is this or maybe the kinds are really just bad seeds and plan to live life their own way and to hell with whatever anyone else has to say.

Lonestar is right USMC a lot of teens these days are really good at being 2 faced. They act one way in front of their parents and a totally different way in front of their friends. I have a 9 year old and dreading the teenage years that are right around the corner.

Typically, when a 'kid' is old enough to make their own choices they had some guidance into the right and wrong aspect of things. I.E. a PARENT or guardian.

Mindie- Don't dread the teenage years.... participate. Coach their teams, invite their friends over, treat them with respect as young adults, don't talk to them....talk with them. Well of course the mother doesn't see it, love is blind; but, it's the systems fault too. Parents have lost control of their kids because the system calls everything abuse - you can't even reprimand your kid anymore because they call it called "emotional/or mental abuse." In the olden days, I never died from a good whipping that frankly I deserved and my parents didn't go to jail for it either. I'm all for a loving disciplined home; but, the system has gone to the other extreme and given the kids all the rights. I'll admit "real" abuse DOES exist and should be severely punished! Crimes against children should not be tolerated ANYWHERE!

Right. A lady just last week popped her 2 year old on the butt with open hand and left red mark. The grandmother called police, the child taken to hospital. The lady's other two kids were taken away and she went to jail. This is crazy. I definitely don't believe in child abuse, but do believe in correct whippings.

I agree NavyVet65. Many people put so much effort into not working and staying on the government tit. If they put half as much energy into actually working a job as they do into not working, they would have more money and a better quality of life.
