I agree and I hope that she doesn't make any money from this whole tragic fiasco. I would NOT listen to her or read anything that was written by her. I think she probably did get away with murder but it was a hard case for the prosecution to prove.

This case makes me sick--because there are SO many other issues in this country that need to be addressed, and the media and the public are fixated on this one blip on the news radar.

It is sad that a child died, but there are tens of thousands of homeless children in this country, more go hungry for lack a food. Each year, children die from lack of heat, lack of proper medical care, and exposure to toxins in the air and the water and in the environment around them. Last Saturday, one of the news networks devoted twelve minutes on the nightly news, almost half of the show's time, to this case; with that same time dedicated to almost any other issue, they could have saved twelve living children.

The people who follow this case freak me out. I studiously avoid these types of issues because I think they are counter-productive, and I still had to listen to it being discussed on TV, on the radio, at parties--I couldn't turn the channel, punch the button, or move away fast enough to avoid you people. If you spent as much time on real issues instead of this Nancy Grace stuff (not the word I wanted to use) that crops up a couple of times a year, we could start doing some real good.

Unfortunately, if her story makes it to print or film, people will watch..it is the nature of people. Look at the rubberneckers on the roads for something as simple as someone changing a tire or my personal favorite, the 20 mile backup on "my" side of the road for an accident that occured on the "other" side of the road.

Society will always be nosey and want to know "why." If there is a snowball's chance in Hades that the "why" (and in this case the how and who as well) will come out in the book, people will buy it. Problem is, Casey has beeen so much proven to be a constant liar, who will know what to believe when it comes out of her mouth.

I hope Zanaida Gonzales and Equisearch get every dime she makes off of any book/movie/interview deal.

I find it most telling that so many are willing to use the unsubstantiated "stories and accusations" thrown out by the Defense as reasonable doubt. Without proof, the information should not have been considered, and should have been struck from the record by the Judge. So, in essense, the Defense used the same tactic Casey did. Lie to avoid the truth.

I wish that the prosecutors had been able to bring a more provable charge--sadly, they were pushed by the media and the public to pursue a charge that they could not prove. They did try--but they did not have the data and should not have brought the case until they had something better (like a confession to someone else--which probably would have happened if they'd waited).

However, at this juncture, what I hope will happen is that they figure out who the little girl's biological father was. He is really the only one who can sue for wrongful death--and he can sue the entire family for wrongful death.

Watch them turn on one another when they realize that their million-dollar windfalls from the books they will "write" and the films they will authorize will go straight to the father. There is plenty of evidence of wrongful death--and the father will be able to collect for that and for being lied to about paternity (apparently, he was never told).

A wrongful death suit is what got OJ. This is what really should happen in the Anthony case. Or, well, I hope that Casey gets a whole lot of money, blows through it quickly, and then winds up jailed because of things she does with the money (drugs) or what she does after she gets used to the money and has lost it all (fraud, kiting checks).

Karma will get her in the end--if she's guilty (and I'm sure she is), karma will get her.

Currently living in Florida but not from here, (yes, I always HAVE to say that I'm not from here because it makes me feel better) I have had experience with a certain school district. Let's just say that when the teachers can't get the curriculum correct that they are supposed to impart, this is what can happen. 12 people worried more about money than the death of a baby. If they've ever served on a jury, they'd understand that the jury can only deliberate on the facts they were given. They are instructed to convict only if the evidence proves BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT that the suspect actually committed the crime. If there is any REASONABLE DOUBT - they must vote to acquit. Once cannot vote to convict a suspect on emotion alone.

Our justice system isn't perfect, but it is still a hell of a lot better than in many other countries around the world. Think about that.

I watched juror #3 last night giving her interview. And they quoted her in this article saying:

"If they want to charge and they want me to take someone's life, they have to prove it. They have to prove it, or else I'm a murderer too."

Very telling here the words "...a murderer too." The word too implies that she believes Casey is a murderer. At least that's my interpretation.

I am now watching her on TV and so far she hasn't stopped playing with her hair not to mention that she is far too upbeat and smiley. Like this newscaster said, the show's over, she has nothing to lose now. Remember, this person, Casey Anthony, is a high school dropout with no real usable employment skills, her family has rejected her (gee I wonder why), Vivid Entertainment has retracted their offer for her to make a porn movie, death threats are pouring in by the thousands, she alienated most of her friends, she lied countless times through implication about her fictitious nanny, her brother and dad molesting her...we all know the list so I won't go on.

Her licentious ego and narcissistic demeanor will most likely lead her to her ultimate and final end, whatever it may be. But for now she is content to believe she is free to regain her position in life she held prior to this trial. She is so narcissistic she has no idea what is in store for her - for the remainder of her life. I don't see a long life for her and from how she looks today at her sentencing she won't get by with them either. She's a sorry mess and deservedly so. She looks old. She will have to look over her shoulder for the rest of her life.

As for the jury - their comeuppance is on the way too. I see very bad things for their karma. Patience is the key for karma.

If you compare the evidence with the Scott Peterson case...you have the same. No blood, no fingerprints, no DNA. Guess Scott Peterson wishes he had had Casey's lawyer.

It's different evidence and a different case, with somewhat different laws, and a completely different jury who knew what had to be done...in this case. Plus a WAY better motive for Scott Peterson to kill...money.

What good does it do to convict someone who MAY not have done it? I think Casey's guilty but there simply was no proof of it. Caylee is dead...it makes no difference to her if someone goes to prison or gets the death penalty. She isn't coming back, either way.

Our system failed Caylee Anthony and the rest of us. Is it because it was a Florida jury? The verdict would have been different in the northeast, I bet. As for death threats, this cannot be a surprise for this family, or the jurors for that matter, so everybody better stay out of sight for a while and keep their mouths shut. I don't believe in vigilante justice but there are plenty out there who do and they scare me to death.

And the four years can be served consecutively. So one year max. And the high possibility of early release. So she's looking at a few months in prison.

I'm not upset with this. I'm happy to see the courts not exaggerating a sentence just because she was acquitted in a murder trial. She's getting the propper sentence for what she was convicted of.

In general, I think this case has demonstrated a triumph of our justice system and the values that were established within it.

Whether she did it or not, the prosecution was unable to provide anything other than hearsay or circumstantial evidence. Neither of which is even close to enough of what it takes to convict one of 1st degree murder, manslaughter or the other felony crimes Anthony was accused of. No motive, no cause of death, nothing substantial other than "she lied about X, therefore she killed her daughter." Which is a flawed argument by itself. Yeah, I personally think she did it, but I must ask myself "how do I know this?" And I don't. None of us except Anthony know the true answer. I'd rather have any jury use the facts of a case instead of guessing the guilt or innocence of an individual. Better ten criminals walk than one innocent person be sent to prison.

I have not really payed attn: To this case. However today was in a waiting room and seen it on TV. The Judge said that Casey told police she talked to Caylee on the phone in July 2008. So if that was the case, Caylee was in a trash bag in the woods in July 2008. Not child abuse? Not murder??? Why in the hell would the prosecution set out to prove this statement was a lie? Strange Days Indeed.

What surprises me is that since it was told in court by Casey's attorney that Caylee drowned and panic drove her to dispose Caylee's body in the swamp. Why was there not any charges against Casey for tampering with a body. I've seen those types of charges in many other cases. I'm appalled by her acquittal of all charges except for lying...REALLY. The only good that came from this is Caylee is in a beautiful place right now and experiencing more than than she ever received here on earth. Why could the jury not convict her on the lesser counts of child abuse/neglect, etc if they were so hung up on having to dole out the death penalty based on the little bit of circumstantial evidence they had? They could have sent her away on that if they, as Jessica the jury pointed out, didn't believe she was innocent. They didn't have to acquit her of all but the misdemeanors.

Scott Peterson's jury convicted him based on what evidence was available and his behavior. People who are not guilty don't behave like they are. They don't lie to police and they certainly don't wait for 31 day to report a missing child they reportedly loved sooooo much. Is that love? You give a child absolutely no chance of survival if she's gone missing (and you didn't have a hand in it) so that professionals could possibly get her back alive. If it was indeed an accident, then why the cover up? Why not tell the police what happened? I don't set the standards for reasonable doubt, I didn't pick the jury, and I'm not responsible for her getting off. Her money she makes from this fiasco, will be reduced by all the costs and fines, and the real Zanny's lawsuit, which I believe she will win. I hope the real Zanny wins all of the money she gets, for screwing up an innocent woman's life. I was also appalled by her acquittal until I saw the interview of Juror number 3. I still cannot believe that not one person on the jury understood that if they found Casey guilty of any of the lesser included offences that Casey would not get the death penalty?????!!!!

The juror stated that they the jury did not find Casey guilty enough to give her the death penalty and that the verdict would have been different had the State taken the Death Penalty out of the equation. OH MY GOD!!!

Heart wrenching to be a juror? What about Caylee? The jurors did the wrong thing. If keeping your kid dead a secret for a month while you party and then finding the dead child in a ditch somewhere isn't reasonable doubt then I don't know what is.

Just because they found the body too decomposed to find out how the child died does not mean the child was NOT murdered. The child was found with duct tape and her death was not reported for a WHOLE month. What more do you need?

Thousands of men and women are in jail on circumstantial evidence right now. "Innocent" and "not guilty" are not exactly the same thing. "Innocent" would mean that Casey Anthony had no involvement whatsoever in the death of her daughter - and despite the verdict, I'm sure that many people will go to their graves believing that was NOT the case. "Not guilty" only means that the prosecution did not produce a strong enough case to warrant conviction. It might be helpful if courts brought back the third option that used to be available as a verdict - "not proven". That would have been the appropriate verdict in this case - that despite what the jurors' personal feelings may have been in this case, there wasn't sufficient evidence.

And speaking of the jurors' feelings - for me, it speaks to the integrity of their decision that they DID vote to acquit Casey. I have to believe that emotionally, all or most of the jurors must have WANTED to be able to find her guilty - but they put those emotions aside and made a decision based on the evidence, which is what they're supposed to do. Am I happy with that verdict? Hell, no - I still think Casey was complicit in some way in Caylee's death. But I wasn't on the jury, and I didn't hear all of the evidence.

Thankfully, this is not always true. We had a case here in Colorado where a father reported to police that his six-year-old daughter had run away from home after an argument with him over a cookie. (You can't make this stuff up.) When it turned out that no one had seen the little girl for a considerable period of time, the police started looking into the situation. Despite the fact that the child's body was never found, her father was found guilty of child abuse resulting in death and was sentenced to 114 years in prison. Google "Aarone Thompson" if you'd like more information on this case.

Because just because Casey, a convicted liar, said that's how it happened, does't make it so. And there is no independant proof that's how it happened.

Look at how many times the cops lied in courts settings (Mark Furman) and allowed to walk and still have a career. OJ Simpson lied in his statements in the death case of Nicole Brown and Ron and walked.

The police botched the investigation and the prosecutor was incompetent.

Police: the body was discovered and reported to the police less than 2 months after the child disappeared,the police FAILED to recover the body in a timely manner. The body was ONLY 19 feet from the road and yet it was not recovered until 4 months after it was discovered and first reported.For 4 months the police knew the EXACT location of the body but never made ANY serious attempt to recover it.

prosecution: The prosecution allowed witnesses to create reasonable doubt by perjuring themselves.The prosecution was negligent by not requesting a mistrial after it was discovered that witnesses were perjuring themselves.

I guess you all didn't read the story. Let me inform you: Casey Anthony was found not guilty of killing her daughter. NOT GUILTY!!! This means that the state did NOT prove that she killed her daughter. You may not like the verdict, but the state failed to prove its case. The state proved that Casey Anthony is a lier, but did not prove her to be a killer.

This judge, in imposing 4 seperate terms for the maximum, is just pandering to the public. She should appeal her sentence and get out early. Anyone else charged with these misdemeanors would have been given concurrent sentences and be out.

What I don't quite comprehend is the logic behind some of these juror's explanations.

They believed that Casey killed her daughter, but they don't think it was proven sufficiently.

Why would they believe she was guilty but that her guilt was not proven sufficiently? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Wouldn't believing someone is guilty result from a sufficient amount of proof? Isn't that kind of the whole point of proof?

So in a week she'll be free to resume her life as a party girl, dancing the nights away, having one night stands with anonymous guys, while forgetting she was once a mom who was responsible for no less than covering up her child's death while she partied and danced in clubs, and very possibly being a child murderer of the worst kind. Maybe she'll run into someone in the clubs who'll recognize her and perform "vigilante justice" after the fact...she'd be well advised to hire a bodyguard to walk behind her to keep an eye on her back...

People can be convicted of murder based off skeletal evidence that shows no obvious signs of trauma if a person's behaviour indicates that murder was a likely cause of death (ie hiding the body, motive, suspicious behaviour) and also if the victim was believed to be otherwise healthy, which is more evidence that the death was likely murder or negligence, possibly accidental but hiding the body is considered indicative of guilt and can be used as evidence to support a murder conviction.

Interesting, shrink after shrink interviewed, believed Casey is a sociopath; in other words her mind is warped and she is a psycho. Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans in varying polls believe Casey is guilty of murder. I don't see how anyone can believe differently. Miss Anthony may be guilty of murder, or she may not be guilty of murder. The fact is: You really don't know. The prosecutor failed to prove his allegations of murder. He presented no witness, no strong motive, no evidence compelling enough to get a conviction. You make allegations against someone, now prove it. The only thing the prosecutor was able to prove was that Miss Anthony is a fool and that he is an even bigger one. If he really believed that she is guilty then he should have waited until there was evidence enough to prove it. His primary motive should have been to find out who the killer really was, or if it was accidental. He should not have proceeded with what he had. Thanks to this nitwit, we may never really know.

Fortunately, in our justice system, these things alone do not prove someone has committed a specific murder. Anyone can find a shrink or shrinks who will say something like that, and (thankfully) polls of Americans certainly do not decide the innocence or guilt of anyone on trial.

It is very interesting to me how many of you who were NOT in the courtroom seem to feel you know everything about the trial. You also seem to know everything the jury knew or didn't know. Don't forget that they were completely shielded from the media assault. The media tend to speculate an awful lot in order to make that next scoop, or hadn't you noticed? I paid minimal attention to the trial itself but it was impossible to escape it completely, and I was interested in the verdict. I just know how the media work and I know something about the law-there are several lawyers in my family. I may feel that Ms. Anthony was guilty as could be-and her behavior certainly did not appear innocent-but the evidence has to specifically link HER to the murder. If there is reasonable doubt that someone else could have used her car or computer or gotten duct tape or whatever-even if she did lie-the jurors may have felt unable to convict HER. (I know, that's not what the defense said at least according to the comments on here-but do we know EVERYTHING the defense said every minute of the trial or only what the media wanted us to know?)

We don't know that this whole thing is over at all. There could be civil suits or forthcoming charges against the family regarding other things that may have been said or admitted under oath (based on what I'm reading in the comments, anyway). It wouldn't be unheard of.

As for the bloodthirstiness of some of the postings, I am appalled. Do you guys really think you would be any better than Casey, who you consider a murderer, if you murdered HER or her family? I do realize most of this is a cry for justice and vengeance, but at least think about what you are really saying. Do you really wish for the curses you are calling down on Ms. Anthony? The prosecution didn't provide enough evidence to nail her. Prosecution has the burden of proof, not the defense. That means it is up to the Prosecution to prove guilt. All the Defense has to do is show there is room for doubt within reason.

The one everybody should be mad at is the Prosecution. They are the ones that failed. They are the ones that messed it all up. They are the ones that let her go because they did a half-arse job. They are the ones that blew it by providing insufficient evidence.

Hawg....she cannot be tried for anything relating to the death of her daughter. Or for any of the 'not guiltys'. Double jeopardy. If she had taken the stand, however, and lied and was found to be 'not guilty' on the charges relating to her daughter's death, they could have charged her with purgery and locked her up for that. That is probably why she didn't take the stand. I've seen that happen before. But then she can't open her mouth without lying. And, yes, I think the police dropped the ball, BIG time. When child is missing, don't they normally search around the home-especially since they knew she was lying right away about the nanny. Even if they think the child is 'just' missing? AND when Roy Kronk called in August, they should have investigated properly. There may have been evidence to help prove the case better. The officer that went out for that call in August was fired. He should have been, for God's sake. He should be in trouble for hindering an investigation. AND, Casey, in one of her jail time videos, she told her parents 'I know she is close to home'......my first thought was of those woods. It was reported that one of her old friends, not the girl she buried her pets with, but another guy who had since moved from the area, said that they used to play in those woods and they should search there. I can't figure out why they didn't do all this right away. I think there is a HUGE problem in that. My son was missing 20min, and I had the police at my door and at the grade school-the school made an 'error' and 'lost' him $$^%$. I would have called after 10 min if I had known sooner. I wouldn't wait 31 min. to report my child missing. My point is that the police asked me for a piece of his clothing that had NOT been washed, in case they needed to have the dogs look for him. I nearly passed out when they asked for that. My son is special needs and he was found sitting in the office at school 45 min. later but that was the longest 45 minutes of my life. Long story about the school. Yes I was extremely livid. Long story. BUT, I called after 20 min. and they were already going to start searching the area. I can't figure out why they wouldn't have done that for Caylee.......just a thought...

I thought the prosecution vastly more credible than all the fiction created by the defense. I thought the defense told fairy tale after tale, about as credible & reasoning as Casey's lies.

I would think basic reasoning and logic would overshadow reasonable doubt. The root word here is, reason and reasoning, and the jury reflected none of this. I have not a shred of doubt she murdered her child, none, and I fail to comprehend how anyone could believe and think and reason differently. When you or anyone offers to do something because of sincerely caring, then you should not expect to get paid for the task. To do so is superficially shallow, selfish, self-serving, self- righteous, and seeking out public attention to say the least. You offer out of the goodness of your heart, or sincerity of the objective. Furthermore, it is not physically possible for Cassey to have moved her daughter's body, since she was constantly monitored by the police and the their jail TV, unless you believe in a unique or futuristic skill of telepathic transportation, or whatever. Therefore, another person or persons were involved with moving the child's body (apparently not once, but at least twice or more times). Why did they move the body? Why wasn't Crock (or however you spell his name) questioned far more thoroughly over his finding of Caylee, especially when his ex-wife reported on record that she had been severely beaten and duct tape placed over her mouth by her ex-spouse (Mr. CrocK). That right there is indeed a peculiarly, strange sicking coincidental fact. And he even admitted on record that he found the little girl's body twice at a time when the area was so thoroughly scoured numerous times by many people. They couldn't find the body, but he did, twice. Was he guilty of "Obstruction of Justice"? Or others that may have moved the body at different times? Certainly the moving of the body is sicking as-well-as strange; but the police appears not to have followed through with more due diligence on the facts surrounding Crock's similarities, or other person's possible involvement in the death of Caylee. They just couldn't seem to concentrate beyond Cassey being guilty. To further comment on your above remark, Jesus in the Bible says: "Let anyone without sin be the first one to throw the first stone." The Public Court of Opinion has been very quick in doing so when they are not qualified as an expert, or worked on the case, or presented with ALL the so-called circumstantial or concrete facts (other than what was reported by the media, or leaked by the attorneys to the public). So it's time to stop fueling the fire with out of control emotional judgments. We don't always like the decisions made and we especially don't like to see the death of an individual regardless if it is an accident or murder. The latter just makes the event more profound. Also, I disapprove of anyone(i.e. alleged prisoner, police, investigators, experts or general witnesses, family, jury, court clerks, possibly the media in some respects, and all court officials) involved with the case should be allowed to greedily profit from the case. Such actions is nothing more than greedy hypocritical with self-serving intentions (i.e. A perfect example is the grand-standing prosecutor, Ashton, who was way too busy being out there on tours to be the first one televised nationally for paid interviews; but too busy to be in Court for today's sentencing as was Biaz in spite of his hectic schedule. Ashton just couldn't wait to profit, and possibly too busy before the trial ended with setting up the interviews rather than concentrating on the case. You'll notice, too, that Ashton (in denial) on National TV during the interview spoke very adamantly and was quick to blame the Jury for their decision (based on the Constitutional Laws over emotions) rather the truth of accepting full responsibility of himself or his teammates for their incompetent/incomplete work as-well-as simply did not meet the standards of concrete proof instead of all circumstantial evidence. Everyone needs to not fall prey to twisted or manipulated rumors regardless of the source and to keep emotions in check over the outcome. In a way this whole event has worked much like politics attempting to advance their point that is often with very good and lawful intentions, but too often with devious ways to obtain the outcome they believe it should be. Yes, we do not like the outcome, but all the Jurors did what was legally correct and for that alone I can show full respect. Now move on and leave all involved alone to recuperate and heal from an unfortunate event. Some will never live a normal life again. The Jury acted in a sophisticated, mature, professional manner without the out- of- control emotions, and followed the law (although not always perfect). They served society (while giving up their work or personal time) to do a job well done under the legal guide lines. We don't have to like the outcome. However, we do need avoid calling the jury or others invalid and derogatory names. Otherwise, those bullying, schoolyard tactics, attempting to downgrade others with the grand-standing name calling only reflects back on those name callers. Especially, when the Jurors were the ones taking the time to serve society knowing that they'd most likely have to face an already unqualified, prejudicial populace, who were often informed by rumors or some very biased media information put out for the purpose of profit and ratings. These tactics of illogical thinking are so similar to what is done in politics and voting. Move on to something more productive and leave the Jury alone! They did what they were required to do.

The hanging judge media have been disappointed. They have tried with this and the O.J. trial to make the public as blood thirsty and contemptuous of the law and democratic principles as they are but they failed. The acquittal Tuesday of 25-year-old Casey Anthony in Orlando, Florida, on charges of murdering her young daughter in June 2008, points to a fact of some social significance. While the authorities and the media in the US regard democratic norms and elementary legal safeguards as obstacles to be gotten around, the population by and large still takes these matters seriously.

The Anthony case has been at the center of the most recent American media frenzy, by now a thoroughly predictable and deplorable phenomenon. Cable television talk show hosts, such as Nancy Grace of CNN's Headline News, did everything in their power over the course of months to blacken Anthony's name and bring about her conviction. These are scoundrels without a shred of decency.....

....There is no shortage of mass anger and dissatisfaction in the US, whose principal source, in the final analysis, is the rapid deterioration and even breakdown of the conditions of everyday life. The monopoly of the political discourse by two right-wing, pro-business parties, impervious to popular suffering, precludes honest and healthy debate over any important social matter. Desperate to divert attention from the growing social disaster, the media seeks to provide seething discontent a malignant outlet.

Individuals who may feel helpless about the overall state of life or their own personal circumstances are encouraged to vent their frustration at officially chosen scapegoats. Al Tompkins, senior faculty member for the Poynter Institute's broadcasting and online group, told the wire service, "It's just unforgivable the amount of vitriol that has come from her show [and] that has now permeated the entire channel … There was no room for them for anything other than a guilty verdict.".....

....Grace, a former prosecutor in Georgia who was cited three times by appellate courts for misconduct (a Bush-appointed judge wrote that she "played fast and loose" with the rules), has made a name for herself as a demagogue and scandalmonger....

....The venom continues unabated. Her thorough discrediting in the Anthony case will have no effect. And there is nothing to choose between Grace and a dozen others. These are the professional befoulers of the public consciousness, viciously anti-democratic zealots, fascistic elements.

The main body of the American media, including Grace and her ilk, embody what is worst in American life. They relish the spectacle of a death sentence, to gain ratings, to demoralize the population. Part of Grace's verbal violence is aimed at intimidating juries. Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of the American people do not operate at the moral level of these figures.

The Casey Anthony jury followed its best instincts, but to defeat hardened reaction in America demands more than that, the growth of socialist understanding and conscious opposition to the rotten social order that breeds such filth.

Based on statistics, evidence and circumstances and motive and opportunity, how could Casey not be guilty unless the jurors are utterly and completely, rednecks and white trash and dumb as dog poo poo.

Outstanding comment and thanks for presenting the excellent article from David Walsh, which I had not read. The explanation hits the target dead center with the problems in our complicated society. And then we wonder why there is so much bullying and murder in schools while the adults are too often acting like childish fools. The children just follow the role model adults they see at home, in the neighborhood, in politicians, and especially in the media. Our adult society needs to set far better examples of appropriate behavior for the children to see, respect, and hopefully follow as they mature. One just has to look at public role model behavior in Congress, among other politicians (local, State, or National), among big businesses, etc. to grasp this concept of not presenting good, decent behavior for observation by our children, the future adults, who will someday lead this great Country to it's success or demise.

I have tried to understand how the jury could acquit Casey, from any responsibility, for her daughter’s death, and now I finally understand…

Last night on the News, one of the Jurors actually said that “We could not convict Casey of 1^st Degree Murder, so we had to come back with - Not Guilty”.

REALLY… You mean to say that they slept through ALL-OF-THE-OTHER charges that the judge read, that they could have found Casey guilty of.

I think it is a stretch, but I can see how they might have doubts about the 1^st Degree Murder charge. But the jurors even said they believed she was guilty, to some degree.

I still have to say that the jury was baffled by the BS, and they bought into it.

Well, to all you jurors - I hope you remember for the rest of your days, that from the MISTAKE you made, you GOT IT WRONG, and cut a Murderer loose.

Are you a legal expert on the Constitutional Laws ? If you don't like the laws, then do something legally about changing it, which is what I understand that FL is now trying to do with the Caylee Law. The Jury followed the Law versus showing their emotions such as you. Were you out there on a daily basis doing the investigating? Are you some kind of technical criminal expert, who had the privilege and access to all of the information? Probably not from your comments. Even the Jury had to leave the court room several times and were not privy to what was then discussed. So why would you or the rest of the public be granted access to all of the information? The only concrete evidence was the lying to the authorities, and she was found guilty on all 4 of those counts. Get over it because emotions do not rule; but the Law does even though most the Right Wing and some on the Left may think differently when it applies to them. I suggest that you try reading the post # 1.125 by ArchStanton again more carefully. Do you vote in the same emotional judgmental manner based on all that media, ads, or rumors have to say?

One last time, for the several people above who mentioned it: the defense DOESN'T HAVE TO PROVE INNOCENCE. EVER. They could sit there on their hands and wait for the prosecution to fail all on it's own. Virtually every defense involves presenting an alternative set of circumstances and facts designed to get jurors thinking, but they don't HAVE to prove ONE SINGLE THING in court. It is SOLELY on the prosecution to PROVE GUILT, period. If they can't or don't prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt - of which there was PLENTY in the case of Casey Anthony - then the accused walks.

That is the way it has been forever, all across this land. You can complain or moan or bitch forever, but it won't do you any good. Even after this verdict, we still have the fairest and best overall system of justice in the world. That doesn't mean it's perfect, or that it ever will be. But there is no better way out there, as of yet.

Why you ask?

Because I openly admit that I could be wrong, in my deduction of what transpired. And I welcome a point of view that Logically & Reasonably Proves me wrong. But, thus far I have NOT seen one.

Do I feel strongly about this? YES I DO…But only because I have seen all the FACTS (as I am sure you have), and I can come to NO OTHER Logical conclusion.

Consider this:

- Casey was Solely Responsible for this little girl - who DIED - on Her Watch.

- Casey NEVER reported Caylee missing, and in fact it was only her mother Cindy that reported Caylee missing.

- Casey Blatantly LIED about the reason behind Caylee’s disappearance. She held on, and embellished this LIE until it was proved a LIE.

- Casey Blatantly LIED about working as an event planner at Universal Studios.

- Searches were found on her computer for – “how to make chloroform”.

- Casey was out Partying like she just didn’t care; following the Admitted date that Caylee DIED.

- Cindy Anthony committed perjury to protect Casey.

These are just some of the FACTS – And they are “Undisputed”.

This paints a picture of Casey’s attitude, and the kind of life she was living. So, the question is - why did she do this.

Defense presented an Explanation – at the last minute – that the reason for Casey’s actions was because of Abuse. This really becomes the deciding factor, and is the only thing that makes the Defense’s theory work. Obviously you believe that abuse is/was the cause of Casey’s Web of Lies, and the ultimate cause of Caylee’s Death.

Well, I DO NOT!

Just because Defense throws this story against the wall and it sticks, does not make it so. It is BS, and it stinks…

Thus, these are the Undisputed Facts, and they all point towards Casey’s Guilt.

And then I watched an interview with a Juror yesterday, and she said that the reason they came back with a NOT GUILTY verdict was because they couldn’t convict Casey of 1^st Degree Murder, implying they did not even consider the other charges that the Judge explained they could use.

Has anyone here ever served on a jury? If so, then you'd realize the jury can only deliberate with what facts they were given. The prosecution didn't provide the evidence to convict BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT. There were far too many holes and the jury really didn't have a choice but to acquit. You should never, ever convict someone on emotion alone. EVIDENCE is what the jury is told to work with.

Mr Baez threw enough scenarios out there and got the jury to question the prosecutions case....kudos to the defense team. That was my first reaction to the picture of her in court as well. All during the trial, she had her hair pinned up and wore these demure little outfits so the world could see what a "good girl" she was. Now that she's been acquitted, she shows up in a skin-tight, low cut, mini-skirted outfit. Guess which one of these images is the REAL Casey Anthony?

A mother who parties and lives it up drinking and dancing in bars for about one month while NOT reporting her baby girl missing is not just a bad mom but is criminally guilty of SOMETHING and in this instance is guilty of murder IMHO.

Wrong. Partying while your daughter is missing is NOT criminal, though it is disgusting and heartless. It is not illegal to be disgusting and heartless, and it does not make you guilty of murder.

Can you imagine what this country would be like if we could charge people for crimes they didn't commit simply because they didn't behave 'appropriately' and as expected? A mother is expected to show concern and use every available resource to find her missing child. If she doesn't do so, that doesn't automatically make her guilty of murder, no matter how disgusted we may be with her.

Fishmail - can you show me the law that states it's criminal to not show a certain level of concern when your child is missing? Yes, parents are required to care for their children, but it is NOT illegal to be happy when your child is missing instead of upset. There are no laws criminalizing partying instead of searching.

It IS heartless, but as I said before, being heartless is not illegal. I'm not defending Casey as a mother - I think she is a terrible person for her reaction (or lack thereof) of her child's disappearance when it happened, but that doesn't automatically make her the murderer.

RN in Philly People don't understand the subtle difference between doubt and reasonable doubt. You can have some doubt and convict. There was no reasonable or sufficient doubt to not convict in this case, unless you are so literal and basic that you can't grasp it. Stuff the jury with the simple and easily confused, and you can commit the worst crime imaginable. This is not how the jury system is supposed to work. America failed here.

I really get tired of individuals who feel they have to go after the jury when they don't like the outcome of a trial. For some reason believe that 12 people + alternates who sat through the trial and were face to face with ALL the evidence, no far less then they do. Now who's the confused ones????

In this country we are not suppose to determine guilt from snit bits in the news, which everyone on this board is doing. In this country it is not up to the jury to make the case of each individual charge. That is up to the prosecuting attorney. This prosecutor & coroner did not supply evidence needed to link to one of the charges other than lying. We all including the jury know she's involved with it, but to what degree? When? Why? & Where? Three adults lived in that home, had access to the car, garbage bags, & duct tape. How are you so certain that it was Casey? What proof do you have?

While you debate this case, which is only on TV because its a middle class disfunctional family in a middle class neighborhood with a cute little girl, not to mention to many people in this country just love a great reality show these days, according to the American Anthropological Association, more than 200 women kill their children in the US each year. Three to five children a day are killed by their parents. Homicide is one of the leading causes of death of children under age four. And I am sure, there are many of those that walk away, not because of the jury, but because the prosecutor did not prove his case based on the charges the prosecutor wrote. So since this crime was committed...approximately 3285 children have been murdered by a parent.

That's what you should be spending your energy on, finding a way to stop this from ever coming to trial. Pay attention to what's going on in your own neighborhood, not in another state that is 1000's of miles away from you.

Yes, parents are required to care for their children, but it is NOT illegal to be happy when your child is missing instead of upset. There are no laws criminalizing partying instead of searching.

It IS heartless, but as I said before, being heartless is not illegal. I'm not defending Casey as a mother - I think she is a terrible person for her reaction (or lack thereof) of her child's disappearance when it happened, but that doesn't automatically make her the murderer.

I thought the prosecution produced much logical evidence while the defense produced many smoke screens to obfuscate the evidence. What real, hard evidence was there, Casey is innocent? Even Casey's own mom in her 911 call when she discovered Caylee had been missing for over a month said "something is wrong here" and Casey's car smelled like a "dead body". Well, who was it that had died? Who had motive and the opportunity?

And the Anthony's own attorney let it slip, even her own parents thought she was guilty! Basically, I cannot understand how anyone, with even limited logic and reasoning, could find her not guilty of first degree murder.

For me, the prosecution overwhelmed all the little contrived ramblings of the defense. Crafted to direct attention from the prosecution and their evidence, and to steal the focus of idiots and low IQ's on supposition and lies. Duhhh, countless dysfunctional families exist but never produce a sociopathic, child murderer.

And my responses were calling out the injustice to the child - that her mom did worse than not call for help but covered up whatever happened and that impediment to the investigation and non reporting it - that was arguably criminal, wasn't argued or charged effectively, and was botched by the DA going for all or nothing charges.

Am well aware of that famous quote (Franklin, Voltare ,et al) and it is a good rule of society and jurisprudence HOWEVER don't let quips like that be any excuse for what happened and the overly optimistic charges made on a guilty person not convicted of that...one just guilty of things not charged and certainly not defended. Brooklyn, did you know, many murderers have been convicted of first degree murder with far less evidence, including never finding the body? IMO, I think the jurors were total idiots. Normal reasoning, common sense and logic should prevail over so-called reasonable doubt. I watched the entire trial and had no doubt, none so whatsoever.

An eighty percent conviction rate is the norm when they find a body that is nothing but a pile of bones and has been found after six months, with NO CAUSE OF DEATH. And, they gather circumstantial evidence, and most murder cases are, circumstantial as it is uncommon for a murder to have credible eyewitnesses. An 80% conviction rate without cause of death, and 80% of the American populace believe Casey is guilty. REgardless!

Now go back and look again at the video on the msnbc site (at the very bottom of this posting) that was taken at the same hearing which you are referring to:

First and most importantly: The video shows that Cassey is not wearing her hair in a pony tail slung over her shoulder as you claimed in your post.She does have a very small bun at the top of her head in the back.

Second : The v-neck in the front of Cassey's top reveals none of the skin on her bosom (as you so often see at work, in public, or in school). Some of the collar bone is about all that is seen. Nor is the top skin tight fitting as you so suggest. In fact it looks rather loose or too big since it is doubled up near her hands. All of which is certainly not risque.

Third: It is hard to say that the top was a mini dress, since to me it looked upon reviewing that it was a long shirt top over slacks or leotards, which seems to be the style these days. Also, quite common is wearing a mini dress over tighter slacks.

Just considering #'s 1 and 2, but ignoring #3, you both were so self-righteous in calling her a tramp ready to party and move along based on her hair and what she wore. Invalid facts used to justify calling her names based on what she wore is just one example of how overzealous rumors spread in the community as-well-as media speculation reporting about the circumstantial evidence in the trial. You must base the convictions on the facts and not emotions or rumors, etc., which is something that Nancy Grace simply did not understand and exactly why she got into trouble 3 times for bad behavior in the past while serving as a prosecutor. The impression was given that she could no longer serve as their prosecutor. What she is doing now as a commentator to raise the station ratings and profits is no better, and at the expense of spreading more extreme hatred and divide in our communities, which is something our Country does not need now during hard times.

What I saw is exactly what every single attorney on TV, not to mention just plain TV anchors and people I know, saw immediately; the contrast in her appearance overnight. All during the trial she was the picture of conservative dress, neatly done hair, then not guilty and voila, the different image.

Get over yourself please. I was not the first, last, or only person who was VERY surprised by her overnight change in appearance. We are not talking in the least little bit about what teens/young people wear every day. We are not talking about the way people dress, or don't dress, on a daily basis. Throwing the book at Casey was also precipitated by the reaction of the people from the not Guilty verdict.

Casey will probably be out in 6 months or less and with out PROBATION or some legal authority looking over her shoulder. No "pee" tests or reporting to a Probation Officer and she will be able to LEAVE the STATE.

Maybe the judge did her a bigger favor in his sentencing today!

The only way Casey, the lawyers and the jurors will get rich from this is if the buying public run out and buys the books and pay to see the movie. And the sad things about it, is that with all the disgust and anger the public feels right now that is exactly what will happen. It is a sad state when the public makes crime pay. And because of the publics short memory, they will forget the anger and disgust and make everyone involved a very rich person. And everyone that reads my comments know that what I say is horrible and painful truth.

If there ever was a case of FAILED prosecution, this was one. Over 400 pieces of evidence presented to the judge & jury and they could not present burden of proof. Blame the prosecution if you want to blame anybody, this was the worst effort ever. Young trial lawyers and law students take note...this is what NOT to do!

I don't think it's a racial issue but a gender issue. The juror said we can't convict Casey because we think she look like she did, but in the same breath said the father look like he did something. If this was Caylee's father on trial I think the jurors would have convicted him. Society can't fathom a woman being capable of murder or molestation, but we can see a man doing this. Also, I think society has a hard time putting a woman to death.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. My brother said at the beginning of all this that she'd walk because she is a young, moderately attractive female. Someone on one of the other threads pointed out that there have only been 2 women executed in FL in recent history and most of those sentenced to death are re sentenced to life w/o possibility of parole. I do believe is it a lot harder for a jury to sentence a woman, and a young one at that, to death. Maybe it's hard to believe that a mother would do such a thing to their child. Who knows...

It was based on my recollection over the last couple years of how many innocent people have been set free in Dallas. But that may only be because not all states require that evidence be held for so long. You have GOT to be kidding me! I think someone has watched Gone With the Wind too many times. I am originally from Mississippi though I have lived away from the south for a long time. If you think people still act like "southern belles" you seriously need to fast-forward your reality. The south is certainly not perfect and needs to grow in certain ways, in my opinion; but it has changed quite a bit just since the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's. (I never said it was perfect! It still needs more change, definitely.) One of my grandmothers was a college professor in the 1970's in Mississippi. The other strongly supported civil rights against her friends. I remember her once taking action when some African Americans were denied entry to somewhere-she marched to the back of the building and personally escorted the black family to some seats while everyone else stared at her. Not exactly what I would call typical "southern belles." If every woman had acted like a "southern belle," the Civil Rights movement would have never succeeded.

Besides, aren't you forgetting a huge part of southern culture? What about African American culture? We had a housekeeper who was like a surrogate mother to me. I doubt I would have survived my childhood without her, in fact. She told me that before she worked for us she worked in the cotton fields. Kids in high school when I was there, white kids, also worked in the cotton fields in the summers, chopping cotton (chopping weeds in the cotton fields). Some were girls, though my dad only let boys do it on his farm. (Of course the high school kids were likely going to get off the farm one day unless they returned as farmers, unlike the regular farm workers, unfortunately.) Years after our housekeeper retired we still visited her every Christmas even though she lived far away-we made sure to fit it in when we visited family in the area. We only stopped after she passed away. Do you not think African Americans contributed tremendously to southern culture (ie, it's far more than just "southern belle" culture)? If not, then you must not have ever listened to blues music. Not to mention jazz and much, much more. And what about Native American culture? The area where I'm from is full of mounds built by Native Americans that vanished years ago. The Choctaws and Chicasaws remain. Southern belles, my foot! Now, I understand your issues about "Southern Belles" but what have YOU had to do to earn your living (Your friends aside, I have lots of Jewish friends, but I never had to live through the Holocaust).

Now, I'm not intending to insult you, but I'm 53 years old, and I LIVED through the Civil rights era, the time of the Black Panthers, and Patty Hearst and her "Symbionese Liberation Army". In 1965, my Mom and I took a two week train trip to upstate New York to see her family. In New Mexico, My Mom made friends with a Black woman, with a son who was 8, as was I. He had a very pretty older sister who was 10. We became fast friends, as did our mothers, and our mom's corresponded for many years. So.. Should I be proud because My MOTHER was a kind person, as was their mom? No, I was just a kid, unaware of "social currents" and just happened to make friends with two kids near my age while traveling.

Do You get it? I am not proud, NOR ashamed about making friends with black kids ( I know now that the socially conscious say African Americans, but in 1965, they chose to call Themselves Black.. Like I was White). To me, You sound prideful that you're such an open accepting and loving person.. If I am wrong, I most HUMBLY apologize for misunderstanding you. Please forgive me if I'm wrong. It just sounded to me like you were being a bit condescending, as only one who considers themselves superior can be.

i agree with some of what both of you had to say. actually, there are women from the south who are very proud to be "southern belles". (i brought up that term to tease nb) they just aren't scarlet o'haras! it has nothing to do with pre-civil war area south, but pride in where they come from. there are many wonderful southern traditions that all people from the south, black and white want to keep alive. one of which is good manners which we could use more of these days. if anyone thinks being a southern belle these days means being racist, they are very wrong.

I think casey fooled a lot of people, including her defense team and the jurors, with her story about "daddy molested me" and forced me to cover up an accidental drowning. She gained a lot of sympathy from a lot of suckers by playing the damsel in distress.

I have a lot of respect for people from that era, those were dangerous and difficult times to live in but they had a very strong sense of personal honor,honesty and integrity,if people today had even 1/10th of that sense of personal honor,honesty and integrity the world would be a better place and We wouldn`t have lawyers engaging in drunken celebrations to celebrate a mother killing her child getting away with it.

You obviously have personal knowledge as to what happened to the child, meaning you obviously were present when the child died. Since you weren't called to the stand as a witness against Ms. Anthony, and since you did not give testimony regarding the murder of the child by Ms. Anthony, I have to conclude you never reported the event - what you witnessed and what you know - to the proper authorities. And by failing to do that, you have aided and abetted Ms. Anthony, and have thus been an accomplice to the crime. I will ask the DA to prepare the indictment against you immediately.

After seeing her parents show zero emotion and then get up and leave after the verdict, I wonder what happens today. Does Casey just go back to her parents house or do they meet her at the front door with a suitcase and a wave goodbye? Casey did accuse her father of terrible things (and there's zero proof) so does he let her back in?

We are giving her credit (either way) for covering up a death and without doubt . . neglect. Manslaughter should have still been considered either way. We imprision drunk drivers for it constantly and they do not make the news or get contracts for books, movies, etc. Our values and rewards system has really crapped out. Circumstantial evidence says that you ordered a coffee, yet the facts may actually show you ordered a cup of tea. like it or not people, our justice system works. Do I think she did it, probably. But if you can't prove it, then you have to let them go. And fortunately the justice system doesn't let the media try the cases for them, because they had Casey tried convicted and hung before the case even started.

There are cases that are tried all of the time that end up with defendants being found not guilty based on the way the prosecutors office presents their case. Proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt gets convictions. Emotion cannot be the deciding factor.

It's the Civil Court that accepts the preponderance of evidence not criminal court. Criminal court insists on beyond reasonable doubt. Because a preponderance leaves reasonable doubt, it is not enough to convict of a crime.

I think where this case was tried had a lot to do with it just like the OJ trial (the first one). The systems in Florida and Cali as actually set to allow a lot of"rough" things to happen before a law is actually broke. Now if this happened in IL I guarantee she is behind bars for murder. This is due solely to the natives here have an IQ approximately 104 points below the average IQ....yes that is below 0 IQ. Yes it would require you to be dead to have less than 0 IQ. Yes dead people vote and stand jury duty in Chicago. Once Cali and FL learn how this stuff is really done then we will be MUCH better off.

I'm certainly not saying Casey is innocent, but how can even people who claim they watched the whole trial be certain they saw every second of it? Maybe you saw only what the media wanted you to see. Also, none of you know what instructions were given to the jury. And you know that every single thing you saw was endlessly commented on by the media. The jury was completely shielded from the media and may not have known some of the things the media brought out. For all of you, your perspective on the evidence and the trial was not the same as that of the jurors! YOU were constantly bombarded by media and their opinions and analysis. You can hardly claim you were not affected. THEY were not, and in fact were not exposed to ANY of that. ALL they saw was what was shown them in court-that's it. In my opinion, the prosecution presented a far more reasonable case than the defense that presented nothing that proved Casey was innocent -- even though, they didn't have to legally.

Most murder cases are circumstantial as few murder cases have eyewitnesses that can corroborate the crime. Even then, witnesses view incidents and evidence differently, and many witnesses are also not credible. Many murder convictions have resulted from not even having a body to convict, and 80 percent of murder convictions result from mere skeletal remains without CAUSE OF DEATH, which are very applicable in this case. 80% of all Americans believe Casey is guilty of murder, the same percentage of murder convictions with less evidence than this case. This concludes with 80% of every American thinking and concluding vastly differently than this jury. Only 20% of all Americans fail this IQ test of being utterly un reasoning and utterly idiots.

I have already thought that if she actually got to prison...she would not want to be found in the shower stalls. Everyone has heard how bad life can be for someone who has harmed a child in prison...but women can be more brutal. I hope that she will always be looking over her shoulder and not have peace.

Yes, in general, those who have killed or molested children fare poorly in prison, and yes, women are more likely to be abused in prison than men. However, women who harm children are typically not vilified in prison because a large percent of the violent inmates are in there for child abuse, neglect or murder. Unfortunately, she would just be another inmate in gen. pop. It would be much worse for her personally to be held in solitary where she is not able to be the center of attention.

The judge should sentence her to more time for the charge she was found guilty of and she should be with the general prison population. They'll see that justice is served.

Hun laws have a burden of proof attached to them. Did you know that if you pushed a guy down with your hands to his chest that is a felony sexual assault? It is because it meets the criteria of the law. We might not see it as so but the law is the law.

With no established cause of death there is no way you could pin murder or child abuse on her. The prosecutor KNEW this and still went forward trying to make a name for herself.

I am personally appalled she got the max on her 4 charges. I hope she appeals them, gets time reduced in the appeals process, and the state has to pay her for false incarceration or something to that tune. Look , more than 50% of the public believe that the world was created in exactly six days roughly 5000 years ago. How often do you hear churches literally cry for witch burnings? Give me a break! Perhaps you haven't spoken to enough people. Try a few more right wing Conservatives. Try Pat Robertson for example. He has mellowed somewhat since he actually met some people on death row, but he still believes that certain moral violations should carry the death penalty, although he admits that it would not be right to enforce it. There was an interesting discussion recently between Justice Scalia and the Pope and US bishops, where Scalia claimed that his pro Capital Punishment position was actually consistent with Catholic tradition, and it was the Pope who was out of line, and in a sense this was true. As regards burning witches, fortunately the rule of law has stepped in in this country to prevent that happening, but it was eventually the secular authorities that stepped in to stop the religious nuts spreading the Salem witch trials round the rest of the country. They were on a roll.

I certainly don't disagree with you that there are many wonderful religious people as there are also many wonderful atheists and humanists who enjoy helping others, but the churches probably deserve a lot of credit in that area. If you think Pat Robertson speaks for "all" churches, you don't know much about church or even "right wing conservatives."  If you have to go all the way back to the Salem Witch Trials to defend your statement that "all" people in the churches want to burn witches, then I'd say you have a pretty weak argument.  I'm not in any way justifying what was done, but things have changed a lot in the CENTURIES since then.  It appears that you are equating support for the death penalty with "burning witches" which is disingenious at best, especially since apparently the so called witches were not supposed to be guilty of an actual crime.  So don't be ridiculous.  And only Catholic churches (perhaps a few others) recognize the Pope as an authority.  That leaves many that don't.

My point was that the churches I knew were too busy helping people to take the time to call for witch burnings, even if they wanted to do so. And I assure you they don't. Right Wing Conservatives do not equal "people sitting in church." Not all conservatives even go to church, and not everyone who goes to church is conservative. We have had good friends in church who were staunch democrats. I certainly don't consider myself "right wing conservative"-in fact, I cringe at the words; but I go to church. I have a relative who is a faithful church member who has a sign in her house that reads, "The Christian RIght is neither." (I'm not sure exactly what the "Christian Right" is and I don't feel qualified to judge who is a Christian or not, so I can't comment on the sign itself.)

You do realize that there are tons of African American, Korean, Hispanic and other churches that may not fit your stereoype, don't you? Do they not count? Far too many people have been caught up in the media attention and have become emotionally invested in Casey Anthony and her crimes. Yes, there are crimes and they aren't just the ones she was found guilty of. They include the murder of her child and who knows what else.

But, it's over. A jury found her not guilty. It's time to move on & forward. This is not the last you'll hear of Casey. Karma is waiting for her and at some point will catch up to her.

Both the prosecution and defense agree on who is seated for a jury. Neither side wants anyone that is hostile to them, but thats as far as it goes.

EVERY law person that looks at this case agrees there was NO motive in this case. Saying "she wanted to get back to partying and could not do it with a rug rat" without proof of such is just silly. She was parting just fine the whole time form her facebook posts. Disagreeing on the jurors and having a legit reason to disagree are two different things. If I was up for murder I would want the following:

1. No African Americans

2. LOTS of women 41-55 yrs old

3. Middle class and white collar people

It was probably the convoluted twists and turns in the story. You have a child who has been missing for over a month before it is reported and then it isn't even the mother. The mother comes up with a stupid story about a kidnapping and "I was trying to find her myself" type excuse. Then enter the smell of human decomposition story in the trunk of the car and finally, the remains of said child are found some 6 months later in a swamp with duct tape attached to the skull and the guy "discovering" the remains who says he notified police at least what, 4 times (?) previously and they blew him off.

Most murders are solved fairly quickly and are pretty straight forward. When society finds a case like this the ongoing mystery and more discoveries make it a media sensation. Remember the Scott Peterson case...that one had just as many mystery twists and turns which is why it was also popular in its day. Given the Anthony case in the time of social media and, well......you have a lot of people able to rapidly and/or immediately give their ideas on what happened.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with your theory about if Casey had been black, she would have been found guilty. As for why people are so fascinated with this case, again blame Casey. No sane person, no real parent would do the things she did in those 31 days before Cindy called 911. People whose barometers are working correctly knew right then that she killed Caylee. We wanted to know what could possibly be said to explain that. Then, when Caylee was found where she was (around the corner from home) AND all duct taped up, well that was just too much. People wanted to know. Yes many, many children are killed and they don't get nearly the attention this case did and that is a sin and a shame. But also I think something of a "safety mechanism" if you will. If we had to be this close to every case of a murdered child, our collective minds and spirits couldn't handle that. Just my take on it.

Okay, the system worked and worked well for Casey Anthony, but the evidence was largely circumstantial much like the Scott Peterson case as you said -- which had a drastically different outcome. I agree that Capital Murder was truly over-reaching by the prosecution, but what about involuntary manslaughter and child-abuse? That's what was truly shocking.

When you don't know where your 2yo child is for 31 days how can that not be child-abuse? Jurors are human beings, and they bring their own biases and prejudices to court with them, that's why Scott Peterson was convicted. It is a heinous crime to kill your pregnant wife, but is it any less heinous to kill a 2yo child?

Oh yeah, and the fact that Jose Baez stated Casey Anthony's child drowned in a pool under her watch, and the grandfather discovered her wasn't enough for involuntary manslaughter? Sure it was likely a lie and no proof of sex abuse or drowning was rendered, but they were willing to admit to involuntary manslaughter, clearly the jury was ignorant.

I do have to admit I was shocked that Casey was found innocent of manslaughter and felony child abuse. The murder charge, carrying death penalty specifications, was too much of a reach but the other charges were definitely viable. What was wrong with that jury?

Jurors are usually prohibited from profiting from a trial--at least for a certain period of time. If this isn't the case in the given state--then perhaps that needs to be changed.

When jurors can expect a payday from giving an unexpected verdict in a sensational trial, we all lose out. I think that jurors should be prohibited from EVER making money off a case.

If you think this too, then it's time to call your representatives and do something about it.

Too bad some reporter wasn't able to speak with the jurors on their way out of the courthouse. If they had I suspect the following dialogue would have transpired:

I don't know the rules regarding juror exposure to the news regarding their case, but I suspect the jurors in this case were probably not aware of the extent of the media frenzy until after it was over.

A lot of hate here over an innocent verdict. You got half the country out of work, Your POTUS giving billions away to multiple countries, and you are outraged at this to the point of threatening an innocent lady.

Screwed up priorities I tell ya.

First, she was convicted of lying to the police because there was direct proof of that. Didn't matter that she was found not guilty on the rest. She still lied to the police and there was direct proof of that. Second, don't mistake consious (sp?) with intelligence. Sociopaths tend to be very intelligent. Third, common sense does not win a conviction. Proof does. It ísn't Guilty or Innocent, it is guilty or not guilty, or it is proven or not proven.

Ms. Ford may have gotten a trip to Disneyland, but she also said that they wanted to find her guilty, they all did BUT, there were too many questions. Who did it, how it was done, was it an accident, where did it happen, etc....she said that you cannot connect the proven events with question marks and that if there is one shred of doubt, you cannot convict. They did what they were instructed to. They did their job. Do I like the verdict??? NO! We all know she did it, in our guts. but 'in our guts' isn't good enough. The state couldn't prove the case. It has been said that had they charged her with lesser crimes as well (like obstruction of justice, etc...) that they could have had her in jail for years but the state went for the big guns and on a death penalty case, you have to have solid proof. The state didn't have enough proof and you can not convict on a gut feeling.

If you all are upset that she might make money off this, don't buy what she is trying to sell. But, please for God's sake leave the jurors alone. They all said that they cried and prayed and wanted to convict but according to our law, they could not and I belive them. And, whether you think so or not, we do still have the best judicial system in the world. If not, we wouldn't be able to protest and say how we feel. Same laws provide that.

If you are really angry, do something good with it. Donate to a children's organization in Caylee's name or help get the Caylee's law passed which will make it a felony (?) to not report a child under a certain age missing. There are many other people going to jail and being prosecuted for murdering their children or another person's children. We only heard about this one. There are also thousands that are in prisons and are actually innocent. Do not take anything she is selling or anything that $%$## Baez is selling. I found him to be a pathetic little worm and completely tactless for taking his team just one block from the courthouse within and hour after and whooped it up, right in front of the public and news medias. I thought his opening and closing were horrible. He threw so much into the case just to confuse the jury. It worked.

Let's turn this anger into something positive. We all know in our guts that she did this-most of us-but, it's over. There is nothing that can be done. With any luck she will commit a non-injury crime and end up in jail for a very long time (OJ), before she tries to reproduce. I think maybe he was just trying to point out the total lack of accountability that has pervaded so much of our society. This case is full of examples.

It's a sad situation. I believe she is guilty and I don't think I would have had any trouble voting for that, though I do agree with the juror that said it's difficult to name a punishment when you're not certain what the crime was. I do find it hard to believe that all 12 jurors unanimously agreed to a not guilty verdict in just 11 hours. I believe even the Judge was surprised.

I would like to know what the judge really thinks. We will have a good idea today at her sentencing.

This jury had at least 2 people on it who didn't graduate from High school, another person had family who'd been in prison, and another woman who said "she didn't like to judge others" ... ?? The prosecutors tried to have these 4 struck from the jury, but the judge refused and allowed them to remain.

I think that tells us a LOT about WHY this jury failed to bring even the Child Abuse charge against her. From the comments of the two jurors we've already heard, I don't think half of them UNDERSTOOD the parameters of the case, how they could charge her separately, and the difference between "reasonable" doubt and "any" doubt !!

Actually, I am a Christian as well, and I don't think Casey deserves to die. I do think she deserves to be held accountable for at the very least negligence in some form or fashion. The child was in her care, and is now dead. There was some middle ground available, but I do not know if the charges were presented in manner that allowed for such.

Also, it's a fairly broad statement to assume everyone who is calling for her head is "Christian". I'm sure many are, and if they actually had the power to put Casey to death by their own hand, my guess is most would not be able to do so. They are just venting their frustration at a story that has received a lot of media exposure.

Despite what Casey has done I don't believe her parents will follow thru with any lawsuits against her. She is still their daughter and though the death of Caylee has obviously devastated them, they still love Casey.
