The notion of "innocent until proven guilty" is nonsense!! Once a person commits a crime, he or she is guilty of committing that crime. If she tells the truth to anyone about what really happened she will be setting herself up for future charges. They wont be for the murder, but if she starts talking, there are lots of other charges related to the disappearance and what happened to the body that she would face. Her best move is to STFU forever. Any money she could make would end up being spent on Lawyers to defend her again on charges.

HNL.............I really think that is an inaccurate statement. If I watch an interview that Casey Anthony is being paid for, it is well AFTER the murder of Caylee. I would not be guilty in the slightest of murdering Caylee Anthony. I would however, be guilty of making the life easier of the person who did and got away with it. But even then, in the final analysis, money cannot make a person happier. She has to live with this the rest of her life. Knowing what she did and knowing ths is all money from the blood of her own daughter. You read the story, you took the time to comment on the message board thereby increasing web traffic. When the book deal comes out, you'll read the news stories about it, go about commenting how horrible it is that someone is making money off a little girls death and the news organization will gain add revenue, web traffic, and more money due to that. If she does a TV interview, you'll comment how horrible she is on the website for the TV show that did the interview and they will gain more add revenue. This will cause them to offer her more money for the interview. If people commenting on this board actually understood or cared at all about making sure she never made a dime off of this, there wouldn't be over 600 comments, most of them deriding a book deal.... I did not find the prosecution evidence to be weak at all. In fact they presented a strong case. What many are talking about is a fantasy about death when the body has decomposed too long to tell exactly what killed them. In those cases, when we had brains, we knew a baby whose death was hidden by the last person with the child, when the person pretended the child was alive, when that person lied about the child's whereabouts, when in fact the child was dead, we knew with a certainty that this child found in a dump, dead, was killed and disposed of by the person covering it up.

At least we used to know that. We'll probably remember it in the next death of an innocent child when the last person with the child lies and tries to hide it after dumping it. We are hit and miss in our outrage.

In Connecticut, we have had one of those "trials of the century" (2 trials actually) for two men who staged a home invasion, beat the father to near-death, then raped the man's daughter and wife and doused them and another daughter with gasoline and lit them on fire. The police were pulling into the driveway as the men ran out of the burning house, so there is no "reasonable doubt" about what happened.

A so-called author met with one of the butchers it seems before the burning house cooled down and hastily wrote a book about the interviews. People in the state were outraged.

And then all the local librarians started shouting about freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and about their right to select which books would be sitting on the shelves for the townsfolk to have access to. Municipal librarians were even writing letters to the editor in newspapers questioning why any citizen or taxpayer would try to stop them from putting any book they chose on a local library's shelves. In the actual town that the destroyed family had lived in, the local library head got her way and placed several copies of the book in that town's library.

I kept looking for an article in the news stating that the books had been stolen from the library...but it did not happen.

Florida will have librarians demanding to put books on library shelves, if written by the little murderer who got away with it.

Actually if you have someone on ignore you can see their name but not their message. Kind of like the saying, "seen and not heard!" In all seriousness, if she does sign deals that make her cash, don't be surprised to see a civil wrongful death suit by her family. If they don't reconcile George is going to want to clear his name. He could write a book or he could file a lawsuit and garnish anything Casey makes. It's very similar to what happened to OJ. The standard of proof is much lower in a civil case than a criminal case. Casey wouldn't get jail time, but her family and the public would score a small victory with a verdict and they'd cut off the money.

Time will tell, but this story will get weirder. I don't see these characters just fading away to live their lives out of the spotlight, there's too many crazy fibers woven throughout the family DNA.

For What-the-81. It's not this particular news article that is going to pay her but rather the amount of publicity this generates. Negative publicity still gets your attention and your web traffic. The book deals, movie deals, interviews, etc. and the money she makes from them will be based upon this exact same publicity which you just helped to generate by reading the story and commenting on it.

I disagree with your take on the jury. They probably all believed she was responsible in some varying aspect. But they followed the guidelines of the law and came to their decision. The burden of proof is to protect the innocent from false prosecution. Otherwise our legal system would be a series of witch hunts, which some would argue still happens anyways. But it's sad when a seemingly guilty person can take advantage of a system that's designed to protect the innocent.

She's not out of the woods by any means. If she's as guilty as the public believes, it'll come back to her in some form or fashion. Whether it's a civil law suit, or what's left of her own conscience eating her alive from the inside out, this young woman's life will be far from great. It may take 1, 2, 5, 10 years, but the fall will happen. While justice doesn't seem to have been served at this point, knowing how karma works makes me feel a bit easier about it all.

That's where you're wrong: the lottery winner you speak of is American, and it's good-hearted people like him - a Vietnam veteran to boot - that make this country great. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that there is a shortage of folks who would qualify to be "The Custodian" - I agree that we need more of them, and that having ethics in that way is very, very important - not just for the individual, but also for the community and country in which they reside... Believe me, I wrote/erased/wrote/erased that last night about five times before finally leaving it in...

I'm just sorry that the (current) "American" ideal seems to be, or has become one of profit and attainment of "stuff". People like to talk about patriotism and doing good, etc - but there are so many examples of others who do not do good - but (more importantly) are enabled and actively aided by others in our society to do bad.

Example: Remember about a decade ago - there was a fellow in Louisiana - who came up with this great business plan to manufacture a product that was sure to sell? He took his idea to engineers to discuss how to produce it, then took those drawings to a lawyer to get it patented, and then finally to a banker to get funding for the entire project -- all of whom enthusiastically did so because they saw huge profit potential in this fellow's idea.

So - he built a pilot plant, worked out the issues, and then scaled up to full production. It was not until that point that what he was making came to the attention of the public: he was making Kevlar-piercing bullets - in pistol caliber sizes (9mm, .357, .44, etc).

So - this begs the question: Who exactly needs Kevlar-piercing rounds? I'm a gun owner - I love firearms - a lot. I don't need Kevlar-piercing rounds - and I don't understand why the general public would either. Then it came to light: his primary customers were "general consumers" - folks who would need to pierce Kevlar as part of their, um "program".

Well, who wears Kevlar? Only one group in our society that I'm aware of: law enforcement. So - who was this guy's primary market? People who are interested in taking out people who are wearing body armor. Ahhhhhh - getting the picture? Mostly these "customers" are folks that most of us would be happier to see without Kevlar rounds (or without firearms at all, for that matter).

"What's the big deal about that?" you ask? Well - what bothers me about it is that this guy - who was solely motivated by the profit he was chasing - was enabled and encouraged by others in our society to move to production - because they saw profit potential as well. Never mind that the end result was law enforcement officials coming under potentially deadly fire from gang members and other social thugs - there was profit to be made! No one made any effort to stop him or say "...no - I will not sign off on this, because what you are doing is wrong...".

History is what also bothers me about this. My family was exposed to the horrors of WWII and the National Socialists in Germany. So, Hitler got into power, and when it came to the educated classes - doctors, lawyers, scholars, etc - they used financial incentive combined with a re-definition of what was "ok" to do. And among other things, it became "ok" to take other certain peoples property and other peoples lives because it meant that you (the lawyer or doctor) would do better.

Societies that fail to learn from history are bound to repeat it. Does that mean that the Holocaust will make a come back? I doubt it - but of you look at what has happened in our society in the last forty-fifty years, much of what we're being told amounts to (as the Romans used to say) "Bread and Circuses" - "...fill their stomachs and distract them, and you can do whatever you want to the masses..." the line went....

So - THAT is why this bothers me. That Casey Anthony could profit from the (apparent to me, anyhow) murder of her own child - probably at her own hands - is disgusting beyond belief.

People in this country have to start saying "NO" to things that are wrong. It does not mean that you are not free to do things at all (I'm in favor of marijuana legalization after all...), but there are moral limits that should be observed - and the only way to do that is for the society to put pressure on people to behave differently.

When I was a child I'm 27 now...I was always raised that if you work hard, play fair and do good things in life positivity will come back to you. Michael, she was found guilty of 4 counts of lying to authorities and therefore should be charged for the overtime detectives worked, search fees, etc. spent looking for her "MISSING" daughter. This includes reimbursing Texas Equisearch which is an organization that is completely dependent on private donations. They spent a small fortune on their search and other families that needed their help were neglected as a result. She will be paid extraordinary amounts of money to lie in interviews on TV, "write" books, etc. and she SHOULD reimburse the Florida taxpayers. And, while she's at it, reimburse the federal taxpayers for the FBI resources and personnel spent on this investigation based on this bitch's LIES.

I judge her because her daughter was missing for 31 days. She did nothing to find her, she did however tell lots of lies to keep her body from being found. Even if it were an accident she new that baby girl was dead, and she threw her out like a piece of garbage. She left her stuffed in a trunk, she tossed her into the woods. People give their pets more respect in death than that.

That is the biggest evidence to me that she is guilty. She didn't search for her, she didn't report her missing, she continued to party and "live up life" and her baby girl was dead lying in the woods.

My friend had a son that fell into her parents pool. They were outside working on the yard..mother thought father was watching him, father thought mother was watching him. Do you know what they did???? They called 911. They boy died, neither parent went to jail and little man was laid to rest in a way that showed he was loved. That can't be said for Caylee. She wasn't laid to rest. She was thrown out, into the woods, to be eaten by animals. Discarded like garbage.

the judge cannot issue that mandate. The law is clear that you cannot profit from your crime only if you are convicted of the crime. Sadly, Ms. Anthony was not convicted, however wrong that may be, and can therefore make a fortune off of her story.

You are right, the real story is Cayle and the light she should have had. We shouldn't allow someone to profit from murder. W have to stand up and do what we can to speak out for Cayle because the jury sure didn't do that. I will not watch a movie or read a book she was paid blood money and profits from.
