I have no clear vision of anything but a tragic loss of a baby girl, whom her family will grieve forever. This reminds me of the Jonbenet Ramsey case and the Elizabeth Smart case. The prosecutors had everything but evidence that their parents had harmed their daughters. Then they FOUND Elizabeth Smart alive and it turned out that as bad as it looked for the family, they HAD been telling the truth. Then they FINALLY looked at evidence that did not support a parental killing of Jonbenet Ramsey, and realized that as bad/confusing as that case was, the killer was not the mother. Too bad the mother did not live long enough to enjoy being exonerated. There is no way that this young mother (Casey Anthony) purposely killed her daughter, either. Have you seen the pictures of her with her child? She adored her and the little girl adored her mother. It appears that Casey lied in a panic because she felt responsible for her daughter's death, and maybe she was, through negligence. But she did not murder her child and she certainly did not PLAN to do so, ahead of time. Ludicrous.
There is no proof AT ALL of what happened. No specific cause of death. No manner of death. No proof of who did what, when, where or how. No crime scene. No fingerprints, no DNA evidence that precludes the defense's theory. Not ONE thing. Everything else is just speculation and/or circumstantial.
Circumstantial evidence can be considered valid, of course, but the defense presented an alternative theory that the prosecution DID NOT RULE OUT, as a matter of law. It doesn't matter if it appears unlikely. It COULD have happened the EXACT way the defense claims, and there was no evidence presented that ruled that possibility out.
The burden of proof is COMPLETELY and SQUARELY on the prosecution, and they didn't meet the requirements or actually PROVE a single thing about what happened. I think she is guilty in the death of her daughter, but no one that courtroom proved it beyond any doubt. This is a DEATH PENALTY case. There can be no mistakes.
The law is clear. Whether the jury sees it that way is another matter. The prosecution must prove the crimes were committed "beyond and to the exclusion of all reasonable doubt". They didn't. Period.
I want to make this abundantly clear: I think Casey Anthony was most likely directly involved in the death of her child. But "most likely" isn't nearly enough, especially in a capitol murder case with the possibility of a death sentence. If our courts are working, the jury will come back with a not guilty verdict on the primary charges.
She might get five years on the lessor charges. That might indeed be a shame, but that's the right verdict here. Just the way it is. Some guilty people walk; the system isn't perfect by any stretch. But the law is the law and she should be found not guilty.
"The burden of proof is COMPLETELY and SQUARELY on the prosecution, and they didn't meet the requirements or actually PROVE a single thing about what happened. I think she is guilty in the death of her daughter, but no one that courtroom proved it beyond any doubt. This is a DEATH PENALTY case. There can be no mistake."
Aqua, I'm making note of the fact that you stated "beyond ANY doubt" in that paragraph.
"The law is clear. Whether the jury sees it that way is another matter. The prosecution must prove the crimes were committed "beyond and to the exclusion of all reasonable doubt". They didn't. Period"
Now you changed to what is actually the standard. Beyond reasonable doubt.
To accept the defense's misdirection, one must suspend all reason to begin with. Ashton hit THAT one on the head. I suppose the 64 thousand $$ question is what one interprets "reasonable doubt". I for one do not accept the notion that simply because the defense floats a couple of unproven "alternate theories''; they become solid foundation for reasonable doubt. The state proved a circumstantial case as well as could be done.
Please reread my comment. I "changed" nothing and stand by what I said, how I said it, 100%. When I used """quotes"""", I was repeating the exact instructions given to the jury by the judge. The first time I said it, I didn't use quotation marks, and was obviously using the usual and standard colloquialism....as is my right on a comment board.
If the defense floats an alternate theory, and it fits, and yet the prosecution hasn't proven that no other theory but their own is correct, then that is reasonable doubt in ANY COURTROOM IN THE LAND. The prosecution must PROVE it's case. The defense doesn't have to prove one single thing.
I'll stand by the jury's decision. They spent 8 weeks listening to all of the evidence. If they believe the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, then so be it.
It's the right verdict, and a victory for the justice system. She may have murdered her own daughter, but there was insufficient evidence. I'm glad the jurors did not guess guilt or innocence.
Do I personally think she's guilty. yeah. But did the prosecution prove that beyond a reasonable doubt? No
The words are "not guilty" and not "Innocent" for a good reason. She may be found not guilty under law, but that hardly spares her from being innocent from the case.
One of the things about this country is that they cannot keep trying and re-trying someone already previously acquitted of a particular crime, so Rightwing, your idea that this should go to the Supreme Court is not in the cards.
Thank the heavens for that too.
Think about what you just said. Do you REALLY want that to happen? Would you say the same if it were a family member or friend of yours on trial?
I think her father is a nut case, is he trying to set up the local police to have another unsolved murder in their dockets? What is to be gained from that?
doesn't matter how much she did it or how obviously full of holes her story was...the prosecution never had substantial overwhelming material evidence on any account...so you can't convict her...thats the law like it or not
Reminds me of OJ. The prosecution didn't convince the jury because they weren't as skilled as the defense. She's guilty in some form or fashion of killing her child. Circumstantial cases are hard to prove. The defense will try anyone to deflect blame, her parents, siblings whatever. Reasonable doubt was there and in good conscience they couldn't convict/
There simply was no PROOF. Lots of ideas. Lots of theories. Lots of possibilities. But no proof of what happened. By whom. Or when. Or even proof of WHY. The jury did it's unpleasant job, and my faith in the American system of jurisprudence remains high. Sometimes, guilty people have to go free. Just the way it is.
Why wouldn't they charge her with desecrating a body? she put duck tape over her mouth and dumped her in the woods. This is unbelievable that other charges weren't brought against her. Crazy world we live in.
This is a sad day for America. Our Justice system has failed us and a 2 year old little girl. These jurors just announced to the world that a verdict can be bought and all you need is a slimy lawyer and some cracks. This women is a waste of space and i can’t believe a juror of 7 WOMEN and 5 men came to this conclusion. There was evidence, how about there was chloroform found in the car and Casey was goggling about it. that shows pre-meditation and the fact that she was partying while her baby rotted in a shallow grave.
We as Americans need to stand against this kind of injustice, i urge everyone to write to their congressmen and women and let them know that the laws need to change and loopholes need to be closed.
As far as I know they can't take it to the Supreme Court. She was let go and the law of the land says she can't be trialed for the same thing. Now if the federal government finds that there may be some evidence of a hate crime they can bring her back to trial. It is circumstantial and as far as I am concerned her actions of not reporting her child missing proved that she was guilty.
I think that I, like most people, believe that she was guilty of something very bad, but proof has to be 'beyond a reasonable doubt', and the prosecution just could not make that stick. Her attorney did about as bad a job as possible, but still won.
It had to be a tough decision by the jury, and there is no justice for the child.
In our sick society, Ms. Anthony will probably write a book now and make a lot of money.
I have to laugh at all the people who think this was some kind of a shocking development. Unbelievable. It's like we are talking about different trials or something.
Can't wait to hear an interview with one or more of the jurors. They will tell you the exact same things I've been saying for weeks now. They had no choice but to render a not guilty verdict. The prosecution messed this one up bad.
Stop with all the OJ comparisons. all you people bitch and complain about the justice system until you find yourselves in the same situation. you'll cry and moan about how innocent you are.
If you people hate our justice system so much, petition your congress person to change out Constitution and Bill of Rights.
We can then have a judicial system based on public opinion and media reports instead of Evidence and a Trial by Jury.
Just like in the OJ case, most of you didn't watch this trial but you are so opinionated as to guilt.
Exactly! What's sad in all of this is that the murder/"accident" was never solved. Granted the defense wasn't required to do that but still.
Someone said George Anthony didn't look happy, I wonder if its because he feels his daughter is guilty and that in her defense he was thrown under the bus...
aquatone is exactly right. I understand why people are so emotional over this, but I probably would have passed the same judgment. I feel these jurors did their job. I am certain they were also not pleased with decision they had to make, but I am proud of them for doing their job correctly.
If anyone is to blame, blame the state. They had a poor case and proceeded anyway. If they had taken the time to actually solidify their case against Casey it may have taken longer but justice may have been properly served.
Not guilty...I said it all along. The prosecution did NOT prove their case and now the murder of an innocent child goes unpunished. I hope HE can sleep at night.
Everyone convicted her BEFORE the evidence was in...and now you see, you were wrong!
Personally, I'd prefer to be judged by a jury of my peers. I don't want someone who judges people day after day, which would make me just another "case" to them. No thanks!
I'm sure there are countries that have that system.
Excuse me, but I am incorrect. She was acquitted of 1st Degree Murder and Manslaughter, but found guilty of false information.
And this is not an injustice, just the prosecution not doing a good enough job of convincing the jury. They didn't have enough evidence to win over 12 people.
Thats how it goes. Regardless if she actually did it or not, the prosecution has to convince the jury that she did.
This may be a odd occurrence, but for once I actually agree with FedupwithFed. It is not for the masses to convict her, without knowing all the evidence, or forming an unbiased opinion, just 12 people who can have many days to decide. This is how our justice system works, and the prosecution has to have evidence to back themselves up, which they did not have.
Who's trunk contained the hair of Caylee that came out after she was dead? Who hid the fact that her child was dead? Who lied about her child's whereabouts? True, there wasn't much evidence but the jury IGNORED what there was. I guess the morons were dazzled by Jose's smoke and mirrors..... This was a total miscarriage of justice!
There have been other cases with less physical evidence. We had a case here in Ohio where a man was convicted with no body and no cause of death.
Jon-Garrett and those that think the verdict should have been not guilty due to lack of evidence---explain this to me, if she wasn’t guilty why would she not report the crime(and i don’t want to hear the excuse the defense gave), also if it was an accident why wasn’t she grieving instead of parting and displaying her lifestyle on Facebook, and why would she be goggling about chloroform prior to the murder if she didn’t use it and by the way traces were found in the car. There is so many things in this case that are tell tell signs, like how she gave what 4 different versions of what happened. She only came out with the version that the child drowned after learning that the autopsy didn’t prove how the baby died. how F--ing convenient. But i guess all this is common sense is too much to handle and a little girls life wasn’t important enough to seek justice.
@ mygirl - The OJ prosecutors came to my mind too. I think the prosecutors here went in with what they thought was a slam dunk case and failed because they got cocky. It may be that this case should have never gone to trial based on what they had or it may be that they just blew the presentation. I don't know.
What? WHO would you like to take this case to the Supreme Court. The prosecution lost. They don't have an appeal process. In fact this defendant can never be tried again for this crime.
We as Americans need to stand against this kind of injustice, i urge everyone to write to their congressmen and women and let them know that the laws need to change and loopholes need to be closed.
getalife -- be careful what you wish for, you just might get it! You do realize you are not just talking about changing the LAW, you are talking about amending the CONSTITUTION.
Do you really want to go down that slippery slope? How do you feel about the 1st Amendment -- the one that allows you to make these posts with no repercussions from the government ... and allows you to worship freely?
The jury might have come back with the wrong verdict -- but the reality is, that no matter how many talking heads you have watched, YOU WERE NOT THERE, YOU DID NOT SEE THE EVIDENCE -- OR LACK OF IT.
The jury knows why they acquitted -- my suspicion (and I wasn't there either) is that they were reluctant on limited evidence to render a guilty verdict with the chance of the death penalty. Maybe they had a REASONABLE DOUBT.
In any event, even if all the armchair lawyers up here DON'T agree with this -- the system worked.
Again ... be careful what you wish for!
To finish, I'll refer you to Blackstone's formulation: better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.
I could care less what the prosecution proved. Even if all she did was not tell anyone that her 2 yr old was missing for 31 days which amazingly ended up with the little girl being dead, it is due to Casey's negligance. All of that sums up to misleading authorities? This is a perfect example of not using common sense and letting the legal mumbo jumbo affect a good decision.
Hell if I was the one on trial and just got off, do you really think that I would walk out with some sort of respectable thought of the justice system that just let a killer walk? No, I would sit back and smile while saying "This dumb azz system just let me walk".
before everyone goes CRAZY about this... LOOK AT THE FACTS!!
no one knows if she did it, someone that she knows might have killed Caylee, and threw her in the creek, and then they put that decomposed smelling stuff in her car! with the duck tape! if that is the case..... then she might not want to tell people that had happened! that might be a threat that if she does tell someone else will die! so she is left there.......... trying to make up a storie really quick........ and then that storie is found to be failing.... severely! even though it is very very hard to prove this, it is possible... and THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT!
My family and I were talking about this case yesterday and I said it was that either the jury deliberations were going to be a really quick decision or take a really long time, and I wasn't going to be surprised by the verdict either. They had to go by the evidence and not their emotions, and that's why they had to let make their decision. It's sad to say, but I thought that they were going to let her off. Sad all around.
Film at 11, interviews tomorrow at 8AM, and books start publishing by 3PM tommorow.
I guess I fell asleep or didn't keep up on this one. What happened to the duct tape and drugging, as well as the shoving the kid in the trunk of her car while going out with men and partying??
The prosecution did as much as they could with what they had. It wasn't enough to convict for murder. The jury made the right decision. Now, personally, for what it's worth, I think a guilty person just got off. But, more importantly, our justice system won. For all of us.
In Michigan-90: She was NOT found guilty of manslaughter. Only guilty of providing false information to police.
I don't see how any logical, thinking person could think those ridiculous accusations and yarns spun by the defense could raise anything even close to reasonable doubt. I know they don't have to prove anything, but there was no rhyme or reason that those claims were a distinct possibility. Nothing even circumstantial that made any sense at all.
So, NOW what happens? What about the little child in the trash bag in the swamp? I would think, I sure HOPE, they continue to investigate her death. She just CAN'T be disregarded!!!!!
Curious to see if Casey get's any jail time for the counts she was found guilty on, or if she'll just get "community service" of some slap on the wrist.
So let's see..we'll get 12 people who are ignorant enough of life outside thier couch, and have never watched the news, and knew nothing of this case, and we'll let them try to make an intelligent decision...............that'll work...........with all the parents in Florida who kill thier kids,(the ones who make the news),this set's a great precedent..........Well,she can lie REALLY well, even her liar ...lawyer,said that......Looks like we've found another qualified person for the 2012 prez. race!.......could go with either party though....what a platform.....retro-active abortion.....sponge off the parents,,,,waste money......she could win it.............no justice.........sorry Caylee.......U.S. Army Disabled Veteran..
What this case tells us is that it is difficult for the State to prove murder when the murderer kills the victim in a way that leaves no evidence once the soft tissue has deteriorated away, then is able to hide the body until the deterioration has taken place and there are no witnesses to the crime.
How could you even assemble a group of people who are so weak-willed that not even one of them could stand up for that little girl?
I suppose that, much like Casey, they were tired of having their lives interrupted by someone else, the self-centeredness of people these days is mind-blowing.
I suppose that, much like Casey, they were tired of having their lives interrupted by someone else, the self-centeredness of people these days is mind-blowing.
And you know this how? You were a fly on the wall in the jury room?
perhaps landowners with a steady income & at least 15 windows in their home would be chosen for this panel? that would never work - we would end up with corruption & insider politics & the "professional jurors" would probably end up being just as idiotic! i agree, looking at this verdict, i come away with a VERY bad feeling about this jury, especially as they took a 33 day trial & deliberated for 10 hours - even with shabby prosecution & a largely circumstantial case, surely a person has common sense (the law doesnt instruct us to become morons); however, the majority of trials turn out satisfactorily. these just arent so widely publicized.
The United States has sunk to a new low. Now, it's going to be OK to party up while you pretend your kid is with an imaginary nanny for a month, then make up a bunch of other lies when folks realize your child is missing. Funny, you didn't identify your child was missing yourself, nor did you assist in the search. Instead, you lie about that as well. The body is found, now it is time for yet another installment in the lie that was your life.
Now you go on trial and lie and blame others as well...... Never did put any blame on yourself there did you? It was the "PTSD."
So the bottom line is, this is OK as long as you lie the entire time and never take responsibility for your actions.
Beth, get ready because this comment blog will fill up with 10,000+ ridiculous comments from the soap opera moms.
I love the, "let's take it to the Supreme Court" comment. You can't be tried twice for the same crime UNLESS you the defendant requested it in the appeals process.
I, for one, am not coming back to this blog. I suggest you don't either.
@ Aggie - It may not be that the jury bought her 'yarns'. It may be that they just failed to present enough proof of her guilt. The two don't have to equate.
As for investigating the little girl's death I doubt anything more will happen. The authorities have shot their wad. They prosecuted who they believed was guilty. If they couldn't prove her guilty, they sure can't prove anyone else was. I doubt they have anything that even looks like a lead to delve into.
No, the little girl's killer got off and unless it was someone else and some fantastic new piece of evidence blasts onto the scene, this is a cold case as of tomorrow.
I already corrected myself in the post just after it, but thanks anyways.
pjam09, How could the prosecution not give enough hard facts to logically convince these people. Just because she was brought to trial does not mean she was guilty, remember innocent until proven guilty? Or the burden of proof lays with the prosecutions?
justwonderin, Thank you for your service. But you are also making way too many assumption of the jurors. Just because they did not return the verdict you want make them lazy nor couch potatoes, nor ignorant.
I hope that Casey will take this opportunity to get the psychiatric help that she needs and can turn her life around. I also hope that she stays as far away from her parents as possible! THEY too are in DIRE need of major psychiatric help.
The test for assessing the evidence is "beyond a reasonable doubt" Seems these jurors were going on unreasonable doubts. Im sure there were jurors that believed she was guilty that gave in to the bullies on the jury to simply get the whole exhausting process over with.
Here is a woman who partied in a most obscene manner for thirty days while her child was missing. Lets assume the lame "my child drowned" nonsense. Even if that was the case, would YOU be out there, guzzling booze, dancing like a stripper at raunchy parties and getting a "the Beautiful Life" tattoo while your daughter was rotting in a bag in the back of your car, then the woods? How much can you love a child, to not even bury her with dignity? On what planet would the fact that this child was missing, not come to light? And when Casey was finally cornered on the fact nobody had seen the little girl in a month, she sent everyone on a wild goose chase, lie after lie, with little emotion, and lots of indignant self-defense. This woman is as guilty as sin. We have another OJ Simpson case. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that this woman is a pathological liar, and a sociopath. And what does she get? 4 years tops, probably less for good behavior. I do hope mob rule applies justice since the rule of law has failed in this case. At very least, Casey should be a pariah for the rest of her life.
Seriously, people... most people mourn the loss of a pet cat or dog more than this woman grieved over her child. And most people bury thier beloved deceased pets with more care than she gave to her own child. This woman is a real piece of work no matter how you slice it, and she needs at least a good 30 years (long enough to make sure she is too old to breed again when she gets out) in lockup, and thats assuming the child drowned, then she tossed the body in the back of her car and drove around with her own child rotting, until the stench got strong enough that she decided to dump the body in the woods where she hung out as a kid. Thats assuming the pool scenario, for which there is NO proof at all. All the evidence points to her as murdering, or complicit in the murder of her own child. This is one selfish, useless, deceitful, immoral, conglomeration of flesh. She is a sociopath, and if she did kill her kid, she is experiencing absolute glee that she tricked a whole jury. Thats how sociopaths work. Its all about them, and what they can pull over on everyone around them.
Make no mistake about it. This is not a finding that the defendant did not mureder her daughter. It is a finding that there was not sufficient evidence presented to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that she did it. And, keep in mind that another jury composed of 12 different individuals might have reached the opposite conclusion based on the same evidence and convicted the defendant. This is the reality of our system of justice.
Yes, the Jury has to have exact information such as DNA, facts, and evidence as proven by the Sentence..
See, the Jurors declared Casey was NOT GUILTY because of these circumstances.
Not reporting a daughter missing for 31 days is NOT a crime.
The Crime here is that there is NO justice for little Caylee---an innocent child, who's Mother most likely had something to do with it/or the parents--and everyone walks free.
I am disgusted with the outcome. This sick sociopath will walk free; this person who wove lie after lie when her daughter was missing; this person whose car wreaked to death; this person who would cry before the jury, and dry up the moment they left the room; this person who berated her parents and complained about having to be in jail while, supposedly, not knowing where her daughter was; this person who waited weeks to inform authorities that her daughter was missing; this person who lied about a nanny that took Caylee; this person who didn't pound her fist and demand justice for her daughter; this person, who upon being found not guilty, smiled, high-fived, and smirked; this person, who I pray, has a special place in hell right next to Pol Pot, Hitler, and Dahmer. The prosecution put on a good defense. You have to wonder what in the hell the jurors were thinking, or if they were thinking. Disgusted and terribly sad for this beautiful child whose murder will go unpunished.
It is sad that this young child died. However, the prosecutors did not prove that she was murdered by her mother. In all probability, the mother has some responsibility or complicity in the death and disposal of the body. But that is far different than she was being accused of. Thankfully, we don't conduct trials in the court of public opinion. Our opinion doesn't matter.
The jury had to decide whether or not the prosecution proved beyond doubt what actually happened according to their claims. To condemn this women to death because they have suspicions is simply not enough. I'm sure that many of the jurors think that she killed her child, but that was not the question. It was if she was proved to have killed her child. Beyond a reasonable doubt is the key. There was not much real evidence in this case but a lot of allegations and junk science trying to be passed off as evidence.
In all likelihood, this young women has at least some degree of guilt, but it wasn't proved that she killed the child. It's that simple and the jury did it's job correctly. The woman was not declared innocent, but not only guilty as accused. She will pay for what happened for the rest of her life and so will the rest of her family.
also why wasnt the fact that the little girls mouth was taped not considered evidence. If she had drowned what was the point of putting duck tape on her mouth.....something to think about.
We can still call her a murderer because "Not Guilty" does not = Innocent.
I am so sorry, little Caylee. We all know your mother caused your death, and now there will be no justice for you. Rest in peace as best you can, Little One. You are now in God's sweet, protective hands.
1NewDay -- Very good post! You have gotten to the meat of the issue -- the justice system working correctly.
It's very important not to condemn on the basis of mob public opinion (and that's JUST what this is). I'd be willing to bet those poor jurors, who probably DID believe there was some (if not all) guilt here, found it very difficult to do what they did -- and uphold the law.
Actually it wasn't close to being similar to the OJ trial. The prosecuting attorneys had more evidence then these attorneys did. One being a history of physical abuse. There was no history in this case of child abuse. They had far more forensic evidence in OJ's trial then this trial. The Prosecuting attorneys in OJ's trial were over their heads compared to his defense team. Not the case here.
IMO the prosecutor should have never brought this to trial with the evidence they had or lack thereof. They should have waited. Now if more evidence comes to light, its too late, they can never prosecute her again.
well this just proves our court system is screwed up. The people off St. Pete florida aren't gunna be to happy about their returning neighbor. She wont last long in real life
As for Jose Bias, in the USA we speak english, either learn to speak it on TV or get in a raft and swim back to Cuba. And as for the other defense lawyer (the death penalty expert) that scolded everyone in such a sickening manner with his sarcastic "I hope you learned something," you should join your client downrange of a firing squad
America is the best country on earth, with the most just constitution. This time we screwed up. The fact that a murderer is walking free is sickening. Justice in this country is no longer about whether or not you did it, but about what attorney you know.
The jury ignored the facts..... Casey was the only one with opportunity and motive and the only one linked to the crime. This child didn't wrap the duct tape around her own head and climb into the trash bags, nor did she roll herself over to the woods. Even if they couldn't see their way to a murder verdict they should have gone for manslaughter.
She was found " not guilty " BECAUSE this jury found the evidence presented did not establish " beyond a reasonable doubt" the did it. She was not found " innocent ". Throughout the history of our judicial system many individuals have been found " not Guilty " who in fact committed the crime. What is crucial is evidence that meets the burden necessary to convict , not whether the defendant actually committed the crime.
There is no justice for Caylee. The FACT that she was dumped in the woods like a piece of garbage and the FACT that Casey did not report her death to police and then continually lied about it is enough for me. She should be rotting in jail for those 2 facts alone.
We can still call her a murderer because "Not Guilty" does not = Innocent.
I am so sorry, little Caylee. We all know your mother caused your death, and now there will be no justice for you. Rest in peace as best you can, Little One. You are now in God's sweet, protective hands.
How true your words are but remember the person or persons that did this eventually have to face God and his wrath. Also after all that has gone on in this case no one in that family will have any peace or happy carefree times again. I just hope Caylee went quietly, without pain or fear and can now play and swim all she wants.
the biggest travesty of justice since OJ walked free. no justice for that beautiful little girl who was a burden to her mother's sex/social life.
i am completely embarrassed that this has happened. the jury was ridiculous. the prosecution DID prove that a dead body was in Casey's car for HOW many weeks? the prosecution did prove that she waited 31 days to report her daughter missing.
i'm sick to my stomach over this. we just learned that you CAN commit child abuse / murder of your child, and get away with it.
The prosecuters never should have gone for 1st degree murder with this case.
2nd degree murder was more appropiate. Almost no jury members would go for a guilty verdict, with possibility of a death sentence, without better evidence and stronger proof of guilt.
Is Casey guilty? I'd say it's more than likely she is. Whether her dad helped her or not.
You don't lie like that when a child dies accidentally. The "grief" excuse just doesn't fly, especially when you still keep partying afterwards.
Who would take a chance on being accused of murder, by hiding an accidental death of their child? No one.
The court of common sense says she's involved and probably guilty. But if we ignore our justice systm, like so many posters here seem to feel we should, we're no better than the Taliban. Laws are there for a reason. They're not there to make innocent people guilty. They're there to prevent innocent people from being wrongfully imprisoned. Vigilantism is not supported by laws.
I think the prosecution had everything there was to have. After rotting in a swamp for all this time, the body did not give up much evidence.
OJ's verdict was based on racism alone. Different story, altogether , except for the verdict.
I hope George and Cindy change the locks on the door and write her off completely. They KNOW she got away with murder. With her book deals and talk shows circuit, she should be able to buy a house that rivals Paris Hilton's. Forgive me God, but I wonder if Jack Ruby has a grandchild that thinks the way he did. (Let us know if you're too young/uninformed to know who Jack Ruby was. Someone will explain it to you.)
We were not wrong about her being guilty. We were wrong about the prosecution proving it.
I don't care what the jury said. In my heart of hearts, I believe Babykiller caused the death of Caylee. It is a crying shame that our justice system let her walk. In my opinion, she may be "Not Guilty," but she sure as he!! isn't innocent.
And for all of you who think our justice system is "great," it is full of flaws. I know several attorneys and have discussed with them at some length some of our "rules" that protect criminals, and other parts of our "wonderful and fair" justice system. All of them have told me there are HUGE flaws within the system. Flaws that let guilty people roam our streets. God help us all.
Oh, and my opinion on her guilt is not based on mob mentality - never been too much on that. My opinion is based on the evidence, logic and common sense.
The prosecution messed this one up bad.
you are wrong. they DO have a choice. a jury can do whatever they want to do. they can find however they want. they don't have to stick with "beyond a reasonable doubt." they can go with their heart / logic.
Isn't Florida where voters are too incompetent to properly vote? Hanging chad, anybody. How could a mother remain emotionless when hearing testimony about somebody putting a stick in Caylee's skull as to move it? She just sat there with that rigid, thoughtless look on her face. She is one sick person, and I hope, just like with OJ, her narcissism catches up to her on her next crime.
There is no way that this young mother (Casey Anthony) purposely killed her daughter, either. Have you seen the pictures of her with her child? She adored her and the little girl adored her mother.
Really? So an adoring mother parties for weeks after her child dies? An adoring mother doesn't contact police in her child's accidental death until she is basically forced to? An adoring mother takes her child's body and tosses it in the woods rather than give her a proper burial?
If that makes an adoring mother, how bad do things have to be to make a bad mother?
I can't believe how little people understand the legal system and how it is set up to protect rights of all parties involved (not just victims). It's tragic about Caylee without a doubt. But objectively, justice isn't served when it "feels right". As a society, we decided not to punish on gut instinct and circumstantial evidence, and that only started like 300 years ago and slowly progressed (e.g. witch trials and McCarthy trials).
But what really shocks and dumbfounds me are comments like those about how the Supreme Court should take up the case. Clearly those posts are suggesting that the higher courts should change the verdicts since they feel wrong. I can't believe that so many posters don't understand what the Supreme Court's role is, let alone the purpose of appeals.
FYI folks, the U.S. Supreme Court exists to clarify existing caselaws and legal precedents that are used in the criminal and civil trials at the district level (which is what a murder trial is). And this only happens when the Apellate Courts can't figure out the intentions or proper usage of the caselaws used in each specific case. THE SUPREME COURT DOES NOT RE-RULE VERDICTS OR SENTENCES!
We can't take the criticisms and opinions seriously of those who clearly post and thus evidence that they don't understand the legal system in this country!
The Constitution guarantees a presumption of innocence for someone accused of a crime. The accused person is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. Casey was not proven guilty, and the jury correctly returned a "not guilty" verdict. People can ague the logic of her actions, but that does not prove murder.
The defense does not have to prove innocence; the prosecution must prove guilt.
Yay! No body has to answer for the little girl's death. What a day for the legal system.. HURRAHH! More encouragement and hope for Murderers everywhere. YAY!
Hawii2--come on who cares if there wasnt finger prints on the tape, she had the smell of death in her, not the imaginary baby sister or the grandparents car but in HER CAR. Unless you belive some imaginary buggy man forced her to party while her child rotten and this buggy man also tapped the baby up and dump her in the woods. Remember she addmitted that the baby drowned, so who got rid of the body I guess it was the "buggy man"?
Here's what I posted on this board a few days ago:
I've never had any interest in these kinds of trials at all.
What does it matter who did what to whom accept to the individuals directly involved?
I guess this is supposed to be a real time morality play but considering how they let prosecutors get away with anything it just looks to me like a judicial slaughter/torture with the crowd baying for blood.
"Bread and Circuses" is what the old Roman Emperors gave the people in order to distract them from their dictatorial rule and the extreme imbalance of wealth in Imperial Roman society.
More and more it's the same way in the U.S.
The corporate media loves to display these kinds of circuses in order to encourage people's morbid and self righteous instincts and more importantly to distract the public's attention away from the mass murder and thieving of the rich and/or powerful people who own and run the country (and the media).
Back in the 1950's and '60's when corporations were held to some kind of moral and social standard the "serious" or "respectable" news outlets would not have carried this type of trash. This kind of stuff was reserved for the "gutter press" like the National Enquirer or True Detective.
But now all stops have been taken off making a profit so they all cover it 24/7.
Just one more piece of evidence that American society is in a downward spiral
I wonder what that arch, sadistic, publicity hound Nancy Grace is going to do with her life now that she can't pull conjectures and BS out of her ass about the Casey Anthony Trial any more?
What a bottom feeder.
And she used to be a prosecutor. Just think about what she got away with in that job. The corporate media always get former prosecutors to comment on things like this (never former defense lawyers) because they want the commentary slanted against the defendant.
Good thing we still have jury trials and some part of the public has kept their sense of fairness and common sense.
You can't say that about prosecutors at all. They are mostly a bunch of corrupt sharks ambitious for political office and the system now lets them get away with murder (literally).
Well, the prosecution doesn't get a second trial. The jury cannot be punished for a verdict. The jury has the final word when they rule not guilty. The jury may invalidate a law by nullification. There is a reason our justice system is setup the way it is. Jurors used to be punished for "wrong" verdicts. There were some places where you are guilty until proved innocent. In the eyes of the jurors, they didn't prove their case. If she really was, it is sad. However, it is not sad enough to want to take away the civil rights of people.
there was proof that a decomposing human body was in her trunk and in the Anthony’s back yard, not ham. Also investigators have stated that the bag of trash smelled like ordinary trash and not like a decomposing body. If we are all going ignore the facts and rely on fantasy stories than Casey has a few she can come up with to help ya out.
isn’t ironic that Bobbyg's only response is to my spelling. really mature but i guess the spelling of a hypothetical being is more important than the topic
A police dog trained to sniff out the scent of human remains smelled it in the truck of her car and the families back yard.
Behavior, motivation and circumstances are also a form of evidence. A preponderance of circumstantial and behavioral evidence is enough.
She didn't report her daughter missing for a PHUCKING MONTH. This is exceptionally criminal in and of itself. Her party behavior when her daughter was MISSING indicted she didn't care!
She told a clearly fabricated story (unreasonable) that Caylee drowned in a pool and her father tried to cover it up. (Bizzare conspiracy). Thus, according to Casey, she knew that Caylee was dead, but did not report it. This is perjury, and a deferal of blame, conspiracy and complicity in covering up a death. With the innocent verdict, they now need to charge the father for not reporting a body found in the swimming pool...ABSURD!
The odor in the car, the body was found nearby her house.
Does the jury suppose that her stories are all true???? People have been drugged by the obfuscation of our legal system in defining "beyond REASONABLE doubt".
I remember serving on jury duty and watching intelligent people eliminated one by one from the selection pool for the most obtuse reasons. Any more, most intelligent people cannot afford the time to do jury duty. Could it be that the B team lawyers have taken down our judicial system, or that reason and science are not well understood by the jurors? The Scott Peterson case had similar evidence but a more appropriate verdict.
What is seen here is the state charging above and beyond what the evidence would support. As the result, she is free to continue her life as if nothing happened. They tried to make a career case out of a circumstantial case and missed the boat.
Karen I blame the prosecutors for not including a charge of negligent homicide. The charges they did pick were a huge burden.
I am not a legal expert by any means but as she was not charged with this would it be double jeopardy to charge her with it? Of course they would need a better prosecution, and would the state pay the extra money for the trial, my guess is Mom and Dad won't help Casey. As for all of the people talking about her lifestyle I know a tramp that works for a State clerk department (what she is capable is shocking) and I mean the anything goes hypocritical type, if we prosecute all tramps and party happy mothers either grandparents or the foster system would be raising more kids than any of you would guess.
One more item for thought, Sending her to jail for lying is a sign of being a poor loser. Why should she have to give evidence against herself? To have answered the questions honestly would have violated her right against self-incrimination. Now they go after her for BS, this is the states fault and they need to just let her walk.
To all of the people responding to the "I hope they take it to the supreme court comment." That comment was made hours before the verdict was in and it didn't even make sense then. Of course everyone believes she murdered her daughter, I know I do, but I also wouldn't have convicted her if I'd been on that jury and no it wasn't the lack of DNA evidence either. If there had been DNA evidence that could have been explained away because they lived together. The prosecution shouldn't have taken it to trial until they had more, if they ever did. Now it can't be tried again and she will most likely get plastic surgery and a name change.

Also investigators have stated that the bag of trash smelled like ordinary trash and not like a decomposing body. If we are all going ignore the facts and rely on fantasy stories than Casey has a few she can come up with to help ya out.
Then WHY didn’t her friends who were IN the car, her boyfriend who put gas in the car or the first officers on the scene say they didn’t smell anything? Burden of PROOF rests on the Prosecution! They did NOT prove their case, therefore, the jury did their job and Casey walked…Jeff Ashton just got his butt handed to him by a rookie defense attorney…guess he is not laughing and smirking now. Judge Perry should have sanctioned him during closing arguments by Baez….but then Perry showed so much boredom, he too should have been sanctioned! Jury was watching BOTH of them!
How can you convict anyone of murder if cause of death cannot be established?
Since every single solitary last one of you is pretending to be an attorney looking for a lesser charge to convict a clearly not guilty defendant... I thought I'd ask.
This jury clearly decided this case based on the facts presented.
This is nothing more than another OJ case. The defense tossed out anything they could think of to see what stuck on the wall. The Pros just didn't have quite enough proof to convict (just as OJ), but this woman will forever be thought of as the person who killed her daughter and rightfully so. I have never seen someone lie as much and as well as this woman and it seemed to have worked for her. Short of FOX giving her a reality show, I hope this entire train wreck of a family will just fade away.... poor Caylee... no justice at all.
You know people, the 'report abuse' button is not a 'negative rating' system. If it continues to be abused in the long run, there could eventually be consequences and changes to the system.
@Gary-Chicago; I would never even attempt to possibly think of ever using a Professional Jury system. A jury of our pears is the last remaining hope for justice and freedom in our society, short of revolution.
Not so Bobby.. Maggots will grow wherever the humidity is right and the fly has lain the eggs and there is food for them. Pretty much anything a full grown fly can eat a maggot can eat but that doesn't matter.... Really and truly people if it wasn't Casey the who was it? If it wasn't her then why did she continue to lie and lie while all those people searched?...That woman killed her child and she will burn in the lake of fire when she faces her maker.
Other than Florida is populated with the dumbest of the dumb, what I have learned from this is, if you kill someone without leaving a mark, (like suffocate, drown, etc.) and you can make sure the body can't be found until it decomposes, you are allowed to get away with murder. Motive, opportunity, lies, misleading the authorities...none of that matters. Oh yeah, and make sure you import jurors from Florida. Okay, so now everybody knows! Next!
All this jury had to ask themselves was 'Whydoesn't a 'loving mother' report a missing 2 year old for 31 days?" Once reported, what loving mother lies to the very people who could help them find that child?
If Cindy and George have any brass ones at all; if they truly seek justice for Caylee, they should file a civil suit against Casey. They wouldn't get any money from they're lazy-@ss offspring (unless she stole it from yet another family member or friend), but they'd have they're ingrate of a daughter held somewhat accountable - something they never required of her, or themselves, before.
I hope all you people that were hating on her so bad now realize how stupid you were . I'm glad that our system works , now they can try and find out who really killed poor caylee. And I hope she sues the ever-loving crap out of Nancy Dogface and the rest of the media MOB !
raven - maybe YOU want a jury judging you with their heart, but boy, not me. The jury CANNOT "do whatever it wants". They MUST reach a verdict based ONLY on evidence presented at trial. Period. They can't just go with their gut feeling. If they do, they are in direct violation of the law and a mistrial can be declared if it ever comes out as such. All of this is made ABUNDANTLY clear to jurors, in every case, and especially in felony murder cases.
just another example of our @!$%#ed up legal system the defense is allowed to distort and lie and create confusion into infinity. I wonder if she will end up in prison like OJ did from doing the same stupid @!$%# after he walked.
and throwing random people into mix (jurors) who do not know anything about law or detective work is a bad combination. Jurors should be educated people in law, criminal behavior ect this is why we cant vote on anything and everything if we could we would have a third world country.
This had nothing to do with our @#$%^ legal system but rather the terrible job that the District Attorney did. There was never any proof, just a lot of conjecture, and with our system a person is innocent unless proved guilty without a shadow of a doubt. It may stink to see someone like this person, or O.J. or others get through the system without the charges they deserve, but it has also saved millions from being charged and put in prison because of a vindictive D.A. or evidence that might have looked like they were guilty when in the end they were not.
Instead this district attorneys should have charged her with gross child neglect resulting in death, they should have charged abandonment, and lying to a investigator and jury. Would have this carried a life in prison? No. But they would have at least had gotten some justice by making her sit for this and then be supervised for years, instead she will do a little jail time and get out free because of a inept prosecution.
Sometimes we demand a charge gets handed down now when we see these terrible crimes, and being that these D.A.'s are elected officials they rush through a case and charge before they have collected the evidence and sat back and looked at what they truly could have gotten from it.
Frankly, this girl had a attitude and the actions that she would had said something one day, or would have slipped up, and she would have been nailed. But now she can walk out of jail and tell everyone she did do the crime and there is nothing that can be done because a person can not be charged for the same crime twice.
We sometimes need to give our officials the room and have the patience to let them do the jobs that we elected them to do.
I know many of you might not like my statements, but if you sit back and think about them you will see that they make sense.
Collapsed by the Community and the other commentors/other Collapsed writers have to be Collapsed also?. There were some very valuable statements made by others not pertaining to Gary's remarks..
MSNBC, please try to keep the ones on this blog that make sense, not just because they are under some other's ridiculous statement.
Dear Grandparents, I hope that if she is guilty ...and you know the real truth if she is, ...you will have to acknowledge it each and every time you have to look into your daughters face. And if you know the whole truth, I can only hope that it eats you up inside. Til your last breath. And I hope you vomit right in her face when she inevitably comes to you with the words, "Im pregnant" again. Because you know she will.
@csh - I absolutely do not believe that victims have as many rights or more rights than criminals in the system. In some cases it is appalling how well proven criminals are treated during trial and in prison. Probably the only thing everyone can agree on is that Caylee's life was tragic and deserves closure/justice. But my original comment was a response to so many posters who feel that the system failed because Caylee didn't get "justice". I only meant (perhaps not as clearly) that the notion of "justice" also encompasses other involved people such as not condemning defendants until they are proven guilty and allowing them to have a fair chance at challenging their accusers. Unfortunately and sadly, people have been commenting that the Supreme Court should get involved. That's what made me comment in the first place.
The biggest question of the case...WHO would try to make a simple accident look like a murder? As someone else said, little Caylee didn't duct tape herself, put herself in a plastic bag and throw herself into a swamp after she drowned! Someone did that, but why would a former police officer (George Anthony) want to do that? Have just a tiny bit of common sense. WHO would take the death penalty risk of a MURDER charge if the little girl died in the pool? After not reporting her missing for 31 days, then all the lies and misdirecting of the police and everyone else, of course they would focus on Casey. Why try to make it into a murder when you know (if you're George) that they're going to come after your daughter for it? I'd much rather try to lie my way out of a charge of child neglect or endangerment than a murder 1 charge! When you can't find the forensic evidence (because it took so long to find the body) then you SHOULD rely on common sense, and the only common sense answer for what happened (accident, murder?) is that Casey was involved. I ask again, WHO would want her facing a death penalty rather than child neglect? Unfortunately, as we now know, simple common sense is lacking in the part of Florida where they went to get jurors.
Charles, at least we represent the majority of thinking. Polls indicate, the majority of people believe that Casey is guilty of murder. Some people confuse reasonable doubt with reasoning and logic or common sense.
Parents left immediately after because the cops were on their way to the anthony home once again ! I belived she was innocent from day 1 , I was right and the sheeple that listened to the media mob were wrong . If we should be mad at anyone it should be the media for cutting facts out to suit their own agenda !
The woman was tried in a court of law and found not guilty by a jury. She may have gotten away with murder, or she may have been rightly found innocent. It's our system though, and everyone would do well to stop the speculation and move along. Respect for our system and the findings demand it.
Why wouldn't they charge her with desecrating a body? she put duck tape over her mouth and dumped her in the woods. This is unbelievable that other charges weren't brought against her. Crazy world we live in.
Desecrating? How is DUCT tape desecrating? Do you even know the meaning of the word? Go buy a dictionary!
And how do you know Casey put duct tape on her? There were no fingerprints or DNA on the duct tape. For all you know...Kronk put the duct tape on her when he found her...and hid her for 4 months...so he could collect reward money....where is the public outcry against him??????????
another case tried via the media and they do their job whipping up a public frenzy. If you have ever had the pleasure (or displeasure) of jury duty, the first thing you are reminded is that a verdict must be "beyond a reasonable doubt" Now as much as most of us can't stand looking at this b--ch, the court could not find her guilty. If you want revenge, don't buy the book or see the movie.
As far as I'm concerned, lying about what really happened to her daughter and going off to party afterwards, is evidence of wrong doing on Casey's part.
To all you saying "the system works": yeah, suuuuure it does.
The guilty get off, and those who aren't guilty get convicted(and sometimes executed) on a regular basis.
It is plain to see that Caylee didn't drown in an "accident". Maybe Casey negligently let her out of her sight/care for a while, but that should count as a crime in this case.
You foolish ones keep thinking that "the good guys won" in this case.
Those of us with common sense who can use logic, will never recognize Casey as being "innocent" in the death of her daughter.
I don’t think it is unreasonable to find 12 or more people that haven’t heard about this case. People focus in on what interest them. The only reason I did was my background in psychology and law.
Between network news, cable and satellite, plus social media it is possible for people outside their busy lives to focus on stories they are only interested in and pay no attention to the thousands of other stories out there they have no interest in.
Geese are but Geese tho' we may think 'em Swans; and Truth will be Truth tho' it sometimes prove mortifying and distasteful.
Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen.”
“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense

I have to wonder if this family having a police officer in it resulted in a lighter punishment.
If the jury believes the defense's version that means they believe George Anthony both molested his daughter and tried to frame the accident up as a murder.
If that's true then Mr. Anthony is due for some investigation himself.....
bobbyg, the prosecution does not have to prove cause of death, or motive, for that matter. Cause of death is frequently missing when only partial remains are available. They even try, and convict, murders where they have NO body.
They cannot try her again on the same charges, but she can be charged with other crimes and tried under those charges. That is NOT double jeopardy. I'm not sure we've seen the last of Babykiller.
As far as I'm concerned, lying about what really happened to her daughter and going off to party afterwards, is evidence of wrong doing on Casey's part.
Yeah and depressed people NEVER drink! Ever hear of DROWNING your sorrows?
Maggots eat meat and rotten ham smells the same as rotten human remains.
No, it doesn't. Spend a little time working for a crime/death cleanup crew.
Maggots are only found on/in rotting flesh.
Really? I guess you should inform the doctors using sterile maggots to clear infected tissue in patients.
I wonder if she will end up in prison like OJ did from doing the same stupid @!$%# after he walked.
OJ is in for unrelated crimes, and let's hope there is no repeat with Anthony; we don't need another dead child that will never see justice. The best we can hope for now is that she will never have another child.
I belived she was innocent from day 1 , I was right and the sheeple that listened to the media mob were wrong .
In this case and in general, do you really believe someone is innocent just because 12 people say so? Someone may be acquitted, but that does not always mean they are innocent.
Yeah and depressed people NEVER drink! Ever hear of DROWNING your sorrows?
Ever hear of GRIEVING FOR YOUR DEAD CHILD? 'Drowning sorrows' would be believable in this case if she had actually reported her child's death and given her a proper burial.
Its a wonder they just didnt call this a late term abortion, my son ran away when he was 10 and after about 5 hours I reported him missing , I didnt wait 30 days and go out evrynight and hang out with my buds at the bars. I believe after being dead so long it would be hard to determine the cause of death thats why she kept the body hid. But it will all come out in the wash as they say every dog has their day , something will happen to who ever killed cayle, it might take a while but it will happen its called justice.
They should start taking bets as to what bar this child killing ska*k will show up in on her first night out of jail. Twelve idiots on the jury. Anyone with the intelligence span of a gnat knows she killed her. Any body with a child could ask themselves,if their child was missing for just a matter of hours could you get dressed,go out and act like trash at a bar having a big time, get a wonderful life tattoo and never worry about where the child was or what had happened to it? Hell no!!! This no good low life bit*h killed that child and any intelligent person can see that. If it had been a pool accident could any normal person been out partying the same night or just days later? Hell no!!! This stinking, lying, self serving, selfish sl*t knew where she was at and did not care at all. She was free to be a rip and that's all she was worried about. If i had been on that jury it would have been deadlocked until hell froze over.Speaking of hell it is bound to hold a special place for her and the dirty lawyers who got her off. Celebrating getting a child killer off in a bar across the street after the trial. Show just what a classy bunch they are. Just as low down and trashy as her.
I am speaking of the jury, the defense team, the defendant and all those who seem to believe that there was no evidence of her guilt. The jury ignored common sense and let this psycopath get away with murder. Yes, I know and have heard all I need to about reasonable doubt. What I HAVEN'T heard about is REASONABLENESS which is defined by the following, take your pick. 1. Capable of reasoning; rational: a reasonable person. 2. Governed by or being in accordance with reason or sound thinking
1. agreeable to reason or sound judgment; logical. 2. not exceeding the limit prescribed by reason.
Personally, I like the last one, not exceeding the limit prescribed by reason. Just take a moment to let that sink in.The jury on this case exceeded that limit by far. I think that definition should be included when juries are instructed. This is something we all learn as children.....if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, then it's a freakin duck. Or in this case murder in the first. Oh yes, common sense is flying around like a drunken pilot tonight and Casey is having the last laugh. Jesus wept.
Oh well, as my friend just said "karma will not acquit her" and who do you think will hire Casey Anthony for work, be her boyfriend, or friend now?
Somebody who thinks she is innocent and is on medication will.
I saw the parents and they had that look of disbelief. Her parents won't have anything to do with her now. Well, at least untill she has another child by some random stranger she meets in a club.
They explains why he went forward with this case even though he didn't have the evidence for a conviction. This was his last case and he went for the hail mary pass before he retired. He was just trying to get one more capital murder conviction under his belt as his last hurrah before he was sent out to pasture.
He wasn't "sent out to pasture" fool. He RETIRED after 30 years. I think he was trying to put a murderous psycopath where she belongs. It didn't happen unfortunately.
I agree as I wasn't there either...in the courtroom for 33 days or deliberating for 10 hours, but a jury of her peers returned with the judgment of 'not guilty.' Apparently, the prosecution did not prove she committed the crime 'beyond a reasonable doubt.'
Noelle-- The DEFENSE did not prove a dam thing "beyond a reasonable doubt".
Guess it was suicide-- Caylee taped up her face, got in those bags, tied them up and jumped into the trunk of the car.
The only good thing that comes of it is that Caylee doesn't have to put up with all the crap from her mother and grandparents and she can rest in peace.
another example of the judicial system discarding common sense and logic for a bunch of rules that obfuscate the truth.........our legal system, like almost all things american, has been perverted beyond recognition.........when the young lady takes the dirt nap we all will encounter then her justice will be meted out.
Really, anyone who thinks that she is innocent is a complete moron. It has nothing to do with a jury system etc. They are simply morons. Let me spell it out for you who are happy she gor off... 1. Caylee was missing 31 days, Casey did not know or care where she was. (She should have been convicted of that.) 2. Duct tape matched tape in the house. (Oh convict on that too.) 3. Chloroform evidence.... (Guilty) 4. Caylee's body had been in her car, decomposing.. (Guilty.) 5. SHE LIED TO THE INVESTIGATORS. (Guilty). SORRY ONLY A MORON WOULD SAY THAT THE STATE DIDI NOT PROVE ITS CASE.
Susie-2759697-I didn't say I agreed with it, only that it is what it is. (FYI): It is not the job of the defense attorney to 'prove a damned (sic) thing beyond a reasonable doubt.'
Thank goodness for the rest of us that the judicial system discarded "common sense" for a "bunch of rules." If I'm ever charged with anything, I want those rules. Not a lynch mob who decides based on "common sense" and "gut feelings." It is, in fact, plausible that the child climbed into the pool, drowned and the body was hidden by the mother out of remorse or guilt or fear. Not what I believe happened, but our system of justice would rather give the accused the benefit of the doubt, then let an innocent be convicted based on "common sense." If the case cannot be proven, then we have to abide by the law: innocent until proven guilty.
Make no mistake about it, the individuals on the jury are of critical importance. Another jury could have convicted her. Indeed, if you tried this case over and over before different juries you would get different verdicts. This is the uncertainty of life and the uncertainty inherent in our system of justice.
Just like the judge said in the young beautiful school teacher raping a student in Tampa, Florida. "She IS too beautiful to go to jail." Ain't that a bitch! Our pretty white girls don't go to jail for killing their very own smart and beautiful baby. Man that IS so f*cked up! And I am pissed.
She should at least be going to jail for 20 years (life). Meaning somebody in prison should be getting her dessert for protection.
1. That is not proof of murder, and an expert testified that such a response could be a way of coping with a horrific event.
2. Debunked on a cross examination of forensics experts.
3. Debunked by the mother's testimony.
4. Debunked on cross examination of forensics experts.
5. Not proof of murder. Does not prove premeditation, or even that she was responsible for the death at all.
TBH I am actually very relieved by this verdict. Had it come back guilty I would have lost all faith in our judicial system.
Thank goodness for the rest of us that the judicial system discarded "common sense" for a "bunch of rules." If I'm ever charged with anything, I want those rules. Not a lynch mob who decides based on "common sense" and "gut feelings."
Thanks CMlawyer, I could have not put it any better myself.
I am so proud of this jury. I avoided watched the entire trial because I saw it as emotional theater and instead waited until the closing remarks from both sides, which I watched in it's entirety. My conclusion at the end of that process was that the state's case was based on pure circumstantial evidence and speculation and that they had not proven her guilt.
Most of the comments on here based on gut feelings and what they consider common sense sound like the same people who defend Fox as fair and balanced. They also sound like the same sort of people who would comprise a lynch mob.
Just like the OJ trial, the prosecutors jumped to trial without good, solid evidence. It's not whether or not she's guilty, it's whether or not the prosecution can prove it.
The OJ jurors thought OJ was guilty, but that the prosecutor did not prove the case. That's the way the system is supposed to work. It will be interesting to hear what the jurors thought on this one.
It beats putting an innocent person in jail. We have an attorney here in Dallas that is looking back at old cases, finding flaws and getting innocent people out (usually DNA exoneration).
Prosecutors, too quick to try someone OR try anyone just to get a conviction.
Casey Anthony doesn't report her child missing for 31 days, and she is not guilty of at least child abuse? It was one of the charges. Sad day for the American justice system. See, you can get away with murder in this country...
a jury can come to any conclusion they want. they can follow with their hearts, their logic, a combination of both - whatever.
obviously the jury in the Scott Peterson case convicted on circumstantial evidence.
if Casey didn't do this .. who did? are you saying she didn't know her daughter's dead body was in her truck for several weeks? i guess the jury did.
this entire thing is sickening, down to the smirk on her and her lawyers' faces. this must mean that she is happy that her attorneys smeared her father and brother in court. this must mean she is happy that her daughter is dead and doesn't care WHO killed her ..
this should also mean that if Casey didn't do it, then the investigators and detectives need to be out looking for the REAL killer, right? because someone walked into Casey's home, took Caylee's favorite blanket, her favorite stuff animal and a heart sticker right from under Casey's nose, killed her daughter, hid her in the truck of Casey's car and the got her OUT of Casey's car and put her in the swamp.
IMO the prosecutor should have never brought this to trial with the evidence they had or lack thereof. They should have waited. Now if more evidence comes to light, its too late, they can never prosecute her again.
This is a great point. I think that public opinion brought this to trial before there was enough evidence. DA's bad choice. However, now they must deal with it, because the jury saw through it.
but our system of justice would rather give the accused the benefit of the doubt, then let an innocent be convicted based on "common sense." If the case cannot be proven, then we have to abide by the law: innocent until proven guilty.
Again ... so true. The opposite would be plain scary!
Wow. Shocked, I am. However, a jury has judged her to be not guilty.
If you think about it, she is left with the exact same thing she had prior to all of this: Nothing. She might be able to buy a friend or two and perhaps even a relative or two. But the bottom line? She was nothing. She is nothing. She will always be...nothing.
The defense lawyer blasted the media as portraying her as a killer and it wasn't right because she is innocent until proven guilty. Well she is full of shyott. Only in our flawed judicial system is she not guilty. In public opinion she is guilty as hell. She is guilty and will always be guilty in most people's mind.
So Maybe I can get away with Murder now too?. Heh, and here I was thinking I would have to pay for any crime I commit. This gives me hope....guilt free Murder for everyone...WEEEEEEEE!!
If the glove doesn't fit......... End of story, the prosecution could not make the evidence to stick to Casey Anthony. From the first, considering the cover-up by her parents it was my opinion that the Father or Mother had caused the child's death and then talked Casey into accepting the blame promising to cover her tracks.
Take note of the fact that the parents clumsily tried to cover their tracks early on; then Mom panicked and notified the police. They lied through their teeth to try to keep their promise to cover for Casey but when evidence and their lies started to get too near to the truth; they changed their stories, Dad attempted suicide (Why?) and maneuvered the blame onto their daughter.
Of course this is pure conjecture on my part but, just as evidence can be pointed at it there is no way to prove that it is NOT true. Fortunately our justice system embraces the prospect of "Innocense until Guilt is Proven". In this case the only proof is that Casey Anthony lied to the police while constrained to tell the truth. As I cannot prove my hypothesis; "If the Glove don't fit you must acquit."
Those of you who have been wounded by this Judicial Decision; take heart in the knowledge that these people will have to live with the knowledge of what they have done. Eventually, they will have to face the one true Judge; He who knows not only what truly happened but what was in the hearts and minds of the perpetrators at the time of the crime.
ULTIMATELY; the Media is in reality the ones who tried and convicted Casey Anthony through the rantings and loudly shouted ravings of broadcasters like (UnNamed Blond) who has made a career of LOUD YELLOW JOURNALISTIC SENSATIONALISM for the sake of ratings. SHAME on her, her stand before the throne will come too.
Rightwing: the prosecution cannot appeal an acquittal. Has to do with all that stuff about double jeopardy that they were talking about in 8th grade civics.
The prosecution does not have to prove cause of death. Many murder cases have no cause of death due to partial remains. They even try, and convict, cases where NO body is found.
I hope all you people that were hating on her so bad now realize how stupid you were . I'm glad that our system works , now they can try and find out who really killed poor caylee. And I hope she sues the ever-loving crap out of Nancy Dogface and the rest of the media MOB !
She was not proven innocent, she was proven not guilty. Doesn't mean she didn't do it, means they didn't, according to the jury, prove it. So, no, I don't feel stupid at all.
And as far as "now they can find out who really killed Caylee" if you believe (the liar) Casey, it was an accident. If you don't, she was lying, why would you believe she didn't murder her daughter then?
CMlawyer, if the majority of America were selected as jurors for this trial, Casey would have been convicted of murder. The circumstances of this case point to guilt. Most murder convictions do not have eyewitnesses but are based on circumstances.
Conversely, where is the evidence Caylee drowned accidentally in their pool? And, Casey was so prostrate with grief she had to party, live it up, nightclub it up and get tattoos about a beautiful life? What mother who is grieving because their child died accidentally, a victim of drowning, celebrates? What mother does not call 911 when their child has a serious accident, just in case they can be resuscitated? Does Casey have a speech impediment, too?
How can anyone reach a non-guilty verdict with all the evidence, all of Casey's lies, a mother who shows not one normal response when questioned about where her baby was? Where is the proof Caylee was pronounced dead by drowning, Casey's 911 call, frantic for help to save her baby? No, she took it upon herself to pronounce this child, then toss her into a swamp because she was prostrate with grief? And, you still believe in Santa Claus too?
This belies all dictates of reasonable-ness and logic. Reasonable doubt? The majority of Americans have no doubt, duhhhh!
How can anyone reach a non-guilty verdict with all the evidence, all of Casey's lies, a mother who shows not one normal response when questioned about where her baby was? Go ask the 12 people on the jury and the 5 alternates ! Burden of proof on the state ! They didn't prove anything other than she lied . No DNA NO FINGERPRINTS NO MURDER WEAPON NO CAUSE OF DEATH NO MOTIVE NO FOOT PRINTS NO REAL FORENSICS and no who when why or how , only that the child was dead . People do crazy things when accidents happen ,who knows maybe lazulio2 is right
From the first, considering the cover-up by her parents it was my opinion that the Father or Mother had caused the child's death and then talked Casey into accepting the blame promising to cover her tracks.
Take note of the fact that the parents clumsily tried to cover their tracks early on; then Mom panicked and notified the police.
No DNA NO FINGERPRINTS NO MURDER WEAPON NO CAUSE OF DEATH NO MOTIVE NO FOOT PRINTS NO REAL FORENSICS
No motive is the one that separates this case from all other circumstantial murders. The "she just wanted to party and didn't want to care for her" was shot down by one of the witnesses. She never actually verbalized that to anyone.
innocent until proven guilty does not apply to cases that involve I.R.S. scrutiny.......kinda interesting that our legal system holds the almighty dollar in higher regard than a human life........
CognativeMist - they had the "real" killer - Casey "Babykiller" Anthony. As Tam pointed out, "not guilty" does not = innocent. No, I don't feel stupid either. Just sick to my stomach.
Too bad we're not in Canada - they don't have double jeopardy restrictions.
Apparently not or they would have found her guilty ! This is what's wrong in this country . The media mob and idiots that actually believe them . Like professional B!tch Nancy Grace , its all an act to get YOU to tune in ! I only hope God judges everyone as harshly as they have judged in their time on earth ! She did it , obama is a muslum, I bet your all the same crowd! Burns you so bad to admit you are wrong.
I bet they could have talked this jury into believing it was suicide. At least the little girl is in heaven and now all involved will probably make a fortune off of her death.
Sorry ,But you have used up My whole hour of talk to an idiot time for today !But if you hurry the hospital said they might be able to remove your head from your rectum.
@sog-510945. Sorry but her mother was proven a lair when they got her work records. The lying bit*h was at work while the murdering bit*h was on the computer looking up chloroform. Guess you missed that part.
in 2008 i said kill her " Today i am somwhat confused , Either way this family will suffer for the rest of thier life , what more sick is the media will sensationalize the story to the point were people get rich that dont deserve it , I am glad Jane velez mitchell is taken over the nancy hour , I was kinda tired of her old breaking news stories , jury will come back guilty with out capital , no death bid for casey sorry people just saying ?
The jurors did a incompetent job as jurors! They thought reasonable doubt = no doubt. I have been on jury duty with ignorant jurors that don't know shyott or how to exit the building much less understand the law! Defense lawyers like to load the jury with dingbats! It only takes a couple.
Although the case received significant media coverage, folks criticizing the jurors weren't actually there. The jury was and members of the jury heard ALL the evidence as well as the court's instructions and rendered their verdict accordingly. Does this mean she is innocent? No, just that there was reasonable doubt. A jury is not incompetent if they acquit in the face of reasonable doubt, which is obviously what you would want for yourself if you were ever in the dock!
taxman-3339924 made a comment based on logic not emotion. The job of the jury is to be non biased and make a determination based on the way evidence or lack of evidence is presented. Your comment is based on emotion which is exactly what jurors are not supposed to base decisions on.
I wonder how many people have really served on a jury and understand what the judge's instructions mean (b/c I would guess too many have dodged service in their respective states and have never heard or read an actual state law in court). Yes I will concede that some people will form a decision at the start and never change their mind despite evidence. But in general, the jury is given specific instruction about what each charge means and what can be considered, and a jury group will feel compelled to stick to those instructions.
We talk about "murder" based on our own simplistic definitions (not conceptually but descriptively), but the legal system has very specific criteria about what constitutes the various degrees of murder/manslaughter/negligent homicide. I believe Casey Anthony killed Caylee, but the prosecutors pursued charges that have very high standards to meet and failed to do so. And what many seem not to realize, the prosecutors had minimum 2 years to prepare for this trial and still failed to provide crucial elements such as cause of death.
In my opinion, it's not the jury that failed (at worst, perhaps they took their objectivity too seriously and ignored common sense for guidance). The failure came from the prosecutors that focused entirely on one suspect for 2 years(understandable in this case) but never managed to find the "smoking gun" that they KNEW was vital for a convincing guilty verdict, and still proceeded.
Speaking of emotion: I wonder if Jeff Ashton's obviously smarmy attitude, eye-rolling and giggles behind his hand every time Jose Baez spoke held any weight with the jurors even if only in a subconscious manner.
I'm not saying it's right, I'm wondering if it might have been possible.
Kristen Stewart couldn't pull it off. Casey is definitely over the top when it comes to dramatics; "dramatic" to KStew means biting her lip nervously and maybe blinking a bit more than usual.
And let's not give Lindsay Lohan, or her idiot mother, any ideas. I realize the only real differences between the two are the severity of the crime and one is a professional actress, but still. I think I might get mildly sick if I see a Casey Anthony Lifetime docu-drama, and violently ill if it stars Lindsay.
Wow. I am so glad that I'm not the only cynical person who thought this - not only does she get off, but now she will get a book deal a TV movie, and she will ride the morning news circuit spouting her "how I was a victim" dramatic BS... but she will get rich doing it. So disgusting.
Well, the ONLY person better off without Caylee is Casey. Casey and her "wonderful life". That tattoo would have been appropriate had she gotten it in the first week of June rather than after Caylee was "missing".
I hope they have a verdict soon. I would like to see Casey's reaction while it is being read. I hope I don't fall asleep listening to the talking heads go on and on and on about nothing while we wait to hear!.
Here it is in a nutshell. Do I think she killed her child? Yes!! Do I believe her mother, father and brother was part of a cover-up? Yes!!! With that being said, DID THE PROCECUTION PROVE ITS CASE? SADLY NO. If the state of Florida cannot get an attorney that is any better than what I saw, I feel sorry for the victims of crime in Florida. I have sat on juries before, and even if I felt the individual was guilty the state has a duty to prove that guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense only have to show that there is reasonable doubt in order to get their client off. And that is what happened here. Like it or not, I know that everyone who is upset with the outcome would want a fair and impartial trial by jury if they was ever in trouble. The state of Florida did not prove its case. Also be aware that most of you posting here has heard and seen a lot of stuff the members of the jury did not see or hear. They can only pass judgment based on what is presented in court. So what we have seen and heard about this case may not be the same information the jury saw and heard. Calling the member of the jury morons shows a total lack of understand of the those people had to go through. They made a decision based on what waspresented in court. That decision was not and could not be based on what the talking head on the boob tube is saying(Nancy Grace comes to mind) She has the women convicted even before little Caylee’s body was found.
I would have loved to see the expressions on Nancy Grace's face and the filth that pours out of her mouth when the verdict was read. She is full of hatred and a pure form of evil. She is Manson, Jeffery Dahlmer combined together in the form of a woman. I would love to watch her eat her own filth in the show - if someone can post a copy of it on You Tube. Unfortunately I can not watch her thanks to work commitments.
People may not like Nancy Grace, but she's been around the legal block a time or three. I don't always agree with her methods or manner of speech, but I do think she knows the justice system pretty well. As a former prosecutor, I'm sure she's seen some "stuff" on which to base her opinions.
So glad Another American Favoritism posted that comment. I had to stop watching GMA because of Nance Grace. Oh to be a fly on the wall when she hears the news! How's the crow, Nanceeee???
Now if you want to rid of your kids just take them to Florida, this jury must have S.F.B. or aka shi@ for brains. What goes around comes around , sooner or later.
I say she gets life without parole. They didn't prove this was intentional and I don't believe it was. I don't think she intentionally murdered her daughter; I think she used her daughter as a powerplay with her parents and something happened. I think this knucklehead punished her parents by taking the daughter away from them for periods of time. Either way, she knows exactly what happened and has refused to come up with the truth. Story after story, lie after lie. If she didn't do it, her (and her attorney) sure made her look at least complicit.
May we then assume that you lend no credence to chloroform or duct tape? Are you suggesting that perhaps Casey did use chlorofom but only with the intent of 'knocking her out' for a while? Are you suggesting that she is covering for an unnamed individual that actually did the killing? If Casey accidentally killed Caylee, as you seem to feel, just exactly how did she go about it? Please enlighten us.
I don't have any more an idea of how she really died than you do. Is it possible that choloroform was used? Certainly? Is it possible that the duct tape was used to tie up the bags the body was found in, and that hair hanging out of the bag was caught up in it? I don't know. The body was found in marsh, after 6 months of being exposed to weather, animals and decomposition. No one knows the cause of death - even the experts. All they can offer is speculation. I think it's just as possible that there was an accident with the child and she covered it up the best she could. Just my opinion, since the only one who knows the truth isn't talking.
apparently the jury had to choose between the lesser incompetent entities that presented the case...........the real tragedy here is the shredding of the truth via lies ,half truths and innuendo.......pathetic display by all concerned and now we can enjoy the media's incessant droning on until the next tragedy captures their miniscule minds.
There was absolutely no incompetence exhibited by the Prosecution, they fought the rights of an innocent infant who died at the hands of a wicked, SELF SERVING and demented mother; who feels no pity for any other but herself. Let me reiterate once more; 12 GORILLAS FROM THE JUNGLE, could have come to the right conclusion; "CASEY ANTHONY MURDERED HER BABY AND DUMPED HER AS YOU WOULD DISCARD WORTHLESS TRASH" unfortunately the ACTUAL TRASH is left behind! CASEY ANTHONY.
actually Donna the relaese of all those jail conversations that Casey had with her family was just the beginning of the prosecutioral incompetence.........no valid reason to publicize those conversations and doing so only made the case all the more difficult to present.
the actions thereafter were much of the same bias that ultimately destroyed their case.
You liberals probably think that if she would of just had an abortion she could of murdered her child legally instead of waiting two years to do it. I hope she is found guilty on every count especially capital.
Why? So you "non-liberals" can satisfy your blood thirst? Go ahead - hide behind your bible. Rail against abortion while you cheer for the death penalty. What a hypocrite.
Twnship, basically johnluci destroyed your argument, and that is your excuse?
Really this is why somebody should get an abortion, if a child would be that troublesome, then have an abortion and forget about it. Or give the baby up for adoption, not too bad of a thought either.
Well, since the topic is now on the table...the saddest thing is that you libs can't see the difference between the death penalty for a convicted murder and what amounts to the same for an innocent life. You can call me (and we) anything you like, but those are some of the most twisted morals a human can possess. And I'm assuming that you consider yourselves to have some morals. If that was a bad assumption, then I apologize.
BJs, I'm sorry, help me out. By my questioning the morals of people who support abortion I'm trying to trample on the Constitution exactly how? I'm specifically talking about personal morals in relation to a person's stance on abortion. I guess you're displaying yours, and I'll display mine. Sorry, your post made no sense in relation to mine.
Well geeze, since you are so completely OFF TOPIC I have to sit back and laugh. Ok - I will humor you.
Your morals are no better than the next one's. Your religion does not dictate my (or anyone else's) life. We are not a Theocracy.
Your kind would just love to become the Christian version of Saudi Arabia.
How about you extend your concern for all the babies that are actually born instead of completely ignoring them once they're actually breathing! Where is your so-called Christian compassion then?
I guess you care far more about tax breaks for the wealthiest amongst us and to hell with everyone else once they are outside of a uterus. You want to repeal Roe v. Wade. That's trampling on the constitutional rights of women to decide for themselves.
I guess you want us women to just be barefoot and pregnant, meekly obeying our husbands. Ha.
.@johnluci. Twnship was right. The 6th commandment has been changed from it's original wording. It is supposed to say "Thou shalt not murder" not, thou shalt not kill. The bible says killing is justice for murder. So if this bit*h had been found guilty and given the death penalty it would have been justice.
Agree, John: I would like to shave her head, march her bare footed a mile to a public square and chop off her head, but I dont think the state provided it is murder one. In her own slipshod way, Casey may have beat the Murder 1 charge, really thanks to her parents letting a month go by -- and only demanding to see Caylee after they found the car. Given what a total space case Casey was, a month without Caylee in sight is about 29.5 days too long. [PS The description is of the manner for public execution in France up until fairly recent times.]
I know. A lot of people have said that her parents were complicit, but I don't see it. Just because they were living with George and Cindy. Unfortunately, Casey was not a teenager; she was an adult and the Anthonys didn't have any legal rights over the child. She had the legal right to take her child anywhere she wanted for any period of time she wanted. I think the Anthonys were used to begging to see Caylee. I think that's why they waited so long - it was probably longer than they had ever waited before and they were getting no answers.
I doubt the parents were complicit in Kaylee's death, but I do think somewhere along the line they decided one life lost was enough, and I do believe that their actions since Kaylee's disappearance were guided by the decision to protect Casey so that they might at least have her, and maybe future grandchildren. I would not be surprised if they know far more than they disclosed, and might have had the missing pieces for Casey's conviction.
I originally decided she was guilty but after seeing the evidence I realized there was no proof. I watched a lot of the trial and I was unconvinced by the "expert" who said there were fumes in the car. Especially considering he and noone else could backup his claims. Considering the amount of parents, nanny's and babysitters that have been charged with murder and child abuse for accidents I can see how a empty headed party girl would panic at the accidental death of her child. There is no proof either way what happened especially since the investigation never centered on anyone else once they figured out she was lying. The bottom line is that you saw the adorable baby and said "Guilty!". I hope neither one of you are ever one of my "peers".
zauzous, What a barbaric thing to say about someone who was found not guilty. I don't know everything that the jury heard or saw, but it didn't take them that long to come back with the verdict. I was on a jury once for a meth lab case. It was very interesting. At first, I was sure that he was guilty. Then, I heard more information and I thought that he was innocent. If you are on a jury, you have to look at both sides very carefully and not form an opinion before the court case is completed. The jury heard all of the information and decided that she was innocent. They were in the court room looking at every thing that she did. Her facial expressions, her body language, etc. They made their decision and that should be enough.
If she did kill her daughter and just got lucky, she will have that on her conscience for the rest of her life. It will eat away at her. She will be punished by having that on her mind every second of every hour that she lives on this earth. I don't think that Casey was intelligent enough to be able to cover up every aspect of killing a child. There wasn't enough evidence. There is more to this story.
A picture is worth a thousand words but I guess the jury closed their eyes or had their heads somewhere it shouldnt have been when they showed the ones of her partying.
She might not have much of a conscience now, but as she gets older this will catch up to her. If it doesn't, and if there is a God and a day of judgement, she will be punished on that day. One way or another, if she killed her child, she will pay for it.
I would like to sit down with her and ask her questions. Not that she'd tell me the truth, but I'd like to see how her mind works with a stranger asking her the questions we're all asking on these news-vines.
It doesn't matter how mad we get, people! Casey was acquitted of the death of Caylee. Why? Because the prosecution couldn't or didn't prove its case beyond reasonable doubt. End of Story... Casey can stand up in Grand Central Station and shout out the details of Caylee's death and no one can touch her! Why? Protection against Double Jeopardy Indictments. Once acquitted, Casey can't be retried under ANY circumstance for that crime.
Oh yeah, she was found guilty on four counts of offering false information to police officers. Big deal! Each crime only carries a maximum of One (1) year imprisonment. That's a total of four years, folks! Casey has already done almost Three (3) years in jail, because of delays. All of that time must be applied, by law, against any sentence given. Bottom Line... Tops, Casey will only do One (1) year in jail and probably not even that. She will have time knocked off for good behavior. If I were Casey, I would be worrying about retaliation inside the Jail (they have their own code in cases like these) and once she get out..
She may even consider applying for her passport.. Trust me, there will be folks out there, that aren't going to forgive or forget too easily. Casey won't find work in America; she might want to move on to say, Columbia... Perhaps a drug lord will put her up... for a little physical consideration... That's something this party girl might enjoy....
There is no reason why a "guilty" verdict cannot be arrived at. In the Scott Peterson case, autopsies were performed on both Lacy and the unborn baby and absolutely NO cause of death could be determined. His wife and baby were going to get in the way of his love life. Caylee was getting in the way of Casey's love life.
I made those comparisons last night along with several others that were similar with the two cases and was told I was an idiot! Glad to see there are those that see the truth out there. Thank you Peggy Sue!
I don't see the comparison, except for the possibility of conviction even without definitive proof of cause of death. She could have (and apparently did) leave her child with George and Cindy when she needed to. I don't think this twit gave a hoot about what she handed her parents to deal with.
She could have left her child with George and CIndy, yes. But is it possible that she did it to spite them? Caylee loved them, she didn't. You can hear it in the calls to the house after she was arrested. No one talks to there parents that way, when they love them. So, she took the one thing they really loved from them, Caylee.
Scott Peterson never said he knew about the death ... Casey has!!! The only thing is she is trying to pin fault on her father ....
So, you either buy into the drowning ... or ... Casey either caused Caylee's death or knows who did! If she is not talking ... be damned with reasonable doubt ... she should take the fall!
Personally I'm confused as to why NO cause of death could be determined. Even on a body that has begun to decay a cause of death by a careful coroner can usually be detected. Drowning might be a little harder if the lungs, eyes, throat and neck have all decayed, but there's ALWAYS a cause of death.
Or if it has been so carefully covered up that just seems more suspicious. Accidental deaths have really obvious causes usually.
There is a reason she was found not guilty. The prosecution "$hit the Bed" bigtime, grade is a giant F, go back to school or get another line of work!!!
I thought at least manslaughter..circumstantial evidence..was all that ignored? The jury must have liked her, & I always did think that some of them would not have agreed to a guilty verdict & there would be another trial. She's probably going to be in the media for a long time, but I don't know how she's going to go out in public & survive.
If indeed Ms Anthony is an incest & sexual abuse victim she's in the right place...in jail & lawyered up where the alleged abuser can't attack her. Certainly if she is walked by the jury the attacks will continue if she's been trained to be a sex slave since age 8. Her life may even be in danger out of jail or prison by the alleged attacker.
We're wondering what the state of Florida is going to do about the allegations? Is the state of Florida sensitive to the global feelings against incest & sexual abuse victims (particularly those not yet teenagers) or does it not give a damn what the rest of the world thinks?
Is Casey going to be examined by Florida state sexual abuse specialists and charges brought up by the state against the alleged abuser, regardless if Ms. Anthony receives the death sentence or not? Is her Defense going to privately pursue evidence of the alleged crimes (video tapes, photos, 3rd party participants, casual witnesses)?
The threat or fear of exposing these allegations certainly would constitute a motive to murder an innocent child and frame Casey in a lot of people's minds. Casey's attorney didn't explain to the jury if Casey threatened to expose her father for alleged abuse prior to Caylee's death.
A hung jury would be a win for Ms. Anthony & would give the state of Florida more time to investigate what her counsel alleged in her trial.
I think your perspective assumes a lot of things that were only alleged at trial. And do you actually believe that if in fact she was a victim of sexual abuse, she would have left her daughter in his care?
HUH? You obviously aren't aware of what happens to people in prison when they have been convicted of child abuse or the murder of their own children. She would only be marginally safe if she was placed in administrative segregation. I doubt seriously if she will receive any kind of therapy in prison if she is convicted for the murder of her child. Regardless of what did or didn't happen to Casey at the hands of her parents/brother, it doesn't excuse the fact that her child is dead, and most likely by Casey own actions.
As for the defense presented by Mr. Baez - have you ever heard the the term "smoke and mirrors"? His job is to place a "reasonable doubt" in the minds of the jurors...it's not necessarily to present "the truth".
You've jumped to so many conclusions here it's hard to know where to start. She was trained to be a sex slave? Where did you get that? Even if she was molested, being molested and "trained" to be a sex slave are hardly the same. Her life may be in danger from her alleged attacker? The fact that her attorney provided no evidence she was abused by her father makes his allegations dubious at best. In fact we don't even know if she ever was abused by anyone.
She lies about everything else, who knows she may have even lied about that also. Ifee the death penalty is too good for her. Life in prison, would have been the best sentance she could have gotten. Who the hell does not report there child missing for 31 days?
The American Justice System needs to take a bath and get a new way of handing out justice.
Why would she report Caylee missing if she knew what happened to her? If she really died in an accident then they knew where she was all along and Caylee wasn't missing.
She seems guilty as anything, but the fact of the matter is the state did not prove their case. Baez was right in his closing when he reminded the jury that they can't decide the case based on their feelings about Casey or because they feel sorry for Caylee and the grandparents. The state simply did not prove their case. Like Baez said, if you still have unanswered questions, then the state did not prove the crime.
Caylee is a wonderful little girl and I would've adopted her and me and my wife would've taken care of her and given her a wonderful life. All Casey had to do was reach out for help and not do the unimaginable.
She will probably end up pregnant again in a few months or so, givin the live style she likes to live , and I thought the most dangerous place in America was in the mothers womb.
Circumstantial evidence can win a case, if there is an overwhelming amount of it. All the prosecutions case was weak circumstantial evidence and a weak closing statement. You can't put somebody to death just because you believe they did it, only if you can prove they did, and the prosecution did not.
I'd also like to know why she was out partying instead of looking for her missing daughter. They brought in witnesses that said she didn't show any signs of remorse when they spent time with her.
While she may have been found not guilty in murdering her daughter, she is guilty as we all are in sinning against a Holy and just God. We all sin because we were born sinners; we all inherited our sinful nature upon conception. We don't have to teach our children to sin anymore than our parents had to teach us to sin. This case is proof that we all long for justice. God is just; we all stand condemned, but He is also a God of mercy and grace. He shows us mercy and grace through His forgiveness. Because God is just, our guilt had to be dealt with. Jesus did just that through His death on the cross. I know too many that is offensive to think God would punish someone else for our guilt and offense. God did just that so we couldn't have anything to boast or brag about. Religion is about trying to get right with God through one's own effort. The problem with that is it's not God's way and no one really knows if they have done enough to please God or did it long enough. By trusting in what Jesus did to satisfy our sin debt we are forgiven and set free from the bondage of sin. The law was given to Moses from God to show us we all have violated God's law and stand guilty and condemned, God made us right through Jesus. Jesus, who is, was, and forever will be God became human and died for our sins and God raised Him from the dead three days later. Salvation is by grace; a free gift through faith. That is the faith of Jesus Christ. When we put our hope and trust in what Jesus did for us, we are made right God; our broken relationship with a Holy and Just God is restored. I know there are some who hate this message. There were people who hated Jesus and those who proclaimed this same message almost 2000 years ago. They put them to death just as many around the world are killed for their refusal to deny our Lord and Savior. My prayer is for the lost and hurting out there seeking truth. Here's God's truth; He loves you unconditionally and gave His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. There is nothing you can do to get God to love you any more or any less. God demonstrated His love for us through Jesus while we were sinners; far from Him. There is nothing you can do to earn or deserve God's love and forgiveness. There is no greater love than this; someone who is willing to give up his life for another. This is what Jesus did for us all.
Hard core tangible evidence that would link the killer to Cayle.
1. During the swamp investigation there would have been footprints left behind by the person who had carried Cayle's body into the swamp to dispose of it. Even though the body had been there for six months the impressions left behind would still be present as a result of the combined weight of the person carrying Cayle and Cayle herself forcing the foot into moist ground that would leave behind a footprint. A footprint that could be matched to the killer without question.
2.The shoes of the killer would also tell the tale of who committed the crime as the swamp material from where the killer walked into the swamp and deposited the body would be present on the shoes. Given the weight of Cayle and the killer the amount of swamp material on the shoes would be considerable. The swamp material would tell exactly who carried Cayle and who the killer is given the water line on the shoes theirself. If the shoes were covered in swamp material close to the top of the shoe then the person who killed and deposited Cayle's body would be a lightweight person who would have trouble in picking their feet out of the swamp material because of their strength in countering the suction of the swamp on their feet and the combined weight of carrying Cayle pressing their foot into the swamp. This level of swamp material on the shoe would point to a female killer. If the swamp material was closer to the bottom of the shoe then the evidence would point to a male killer who would have the strength to both carry Cayle and avoid the suction swamp while they were walking thus resulting in a shallower foot print.
3. If someone in the family had purchased a new pair of shoes prior to the disappearence of Cayle and those shoes are now gone then those shoes that are missing would also be a credible link to the killer.
The Duct Tape
1. The duct tape was not used to suffocate Cayle but used to administer a lethal dose of either gasoline or other toxic substance that would have caused Cayle to become unconscious and remain unconscious until she died of affixaition due to gas inhalation.
2.If the duct tape was used to suffocated Cayle then it would have been crimped around the nose in order to seal the nostril pathway's to not allow any oxygen into Cayle's lungs. Depending upon the condition of the tape will determine how it was used. If it was crimped then it was used to affixiate Cayle. If not and the duct tape was a straight piece that went from the mouth to the mandible then the duct tape was used to administor a chemical substance to keep Cayle sedated as well as eventually causing her to suffocate.
3.The duct tape would also tell the tale of who placed the duct tape over Cayle's mouth due to the following fact. Duct Tape is maleable meaning that it can be formed to different ridges of preferation depending upon the temperature that the duct tape is present in.
Stay with me. Take a piece of duct tape and place it on your hand over the knuckles. In order to form a tight seal you will need to press rather hard on the tape with the other hand thus leaving impression's of the killers fingertip's on the left side of the tape where it was drawn across Cayle's face and at the right end of the peice of tape where the killer would have attached the duct tape to the mandible of Cayle. When the duct tape is placed in such a manner on Cayle's face the killer would had to have pressed rather hard to make the tape stick.
This evidence could then be placed against anyone in the family where the finger impression in the tape would match the person in the family who killed Cayle.
DNA
3.DNA at the crime scene. If there was DNA taken at the crime scene such as a hair folicle that would tell the tale of the killer being a women because of the length of the hair. Then such hair folicle would once be admissable as a anothr link to who placed Cayle's body in the smamp.
4.Whoever placed Cayle's body in the swamp knew that because of the swampy environment that the heat and microbials associated with a decaying body would cause the body to decompose faster than if the body of Cayle had merely been thrown into a dumpster or cooler area.
Computer Evidence
5.Computer evidence that relates to the search for Chloroform was present during the initial police forensics but when the information was later checked with new tools the information only related to facebook page searches. This would suggest that the new computer software was specifically designed to cover up the search criteria and to return a false report. If there is anyone that the family may know a software programmer then that person may have been contracted by the family to create such a program to cover up the old searches by saying that the old searches based upon the new searches all linked to facebook pages and not the information associated with searching for Chloroform which would once again provide a link to the actual killer.
It is also obvious that most of the family seemed to be against Casey and the burden of having to deal with Casey's way of life at having to watch Cayle instead of being able to enjoy their life. So the family conspires against Casey by murdering Cayle where they create a sense of confusion based upon the actions such as the duct tape being placed over Cayle's mouth. The result is an emotionally charged courtroom where the jury is fed circumstantial evidence that is twisted into an emotional value to manipulate the jury into finding Casey guilty. Casey then receives the death penantly and is then sentenced to death. Once Calye is dead the family is free of the burden of having to take care of Cayle based upon the irresponsible nature of Casey that has been used as the main method of trying to convince the jury of Casey being the murderer.
The prosecution has not presented any tangible evidence that would specifically link Casey to the murder of Cayle. Basically the prosecution and judge are basing their findings on general catch all punishment's that if they don't get Casey with one law they will get her with another. Such a verdict cannot be reached because there have not been any specifics presented that would link Casey to the crime of killing Cayle unequivocably and without a shadow beyond a doubt.
The methods that the prosecution is using are the same types of methods used to convict men, women and child during the Salem Witch Trial's where hersey was against the 'witch' to convict them just because the community thought that they were odd and made them feel badly or the locals became sick. Later on it was discovered that the locals had become deranged because of bad wheat that lead them to the murderous acts....a finding that science discovered as true and factual and not the conspired delusional and mantic attempts to convict someone with tangible proof. Which is the same thing that is occuring in the Casey Anthony Case.
I am going to match you number for number the best I can:
Missing Swamp Evidence
1. During the swamp investigation there would have been footprints left behind by the person who had carried Caylee's body into the swamp to dispose of it. Even though the body had been there for six months the impressions left behind would still be present as a result of the combined weight of the person carrying Caylee and Caylee herself forcing the foot into moist ground that would leave behind a footprint. A footprint that could be matched to the killer without question. Problem is there was a hurricane in that area and flooding. Those two things would have disrupted those footprints during that 6 months. In the Florida weather, it could have blown away or been covered by more debris and destroyed.
2.The shoes of the killer would also tell the tale of who committed the crime as the swamp material from where the killer walked into the swamp and deposited the body would be present on the shoes. Given the weight of Caylee and the killer the amount of swamp material on the shoes would be considerable. The swamp material would tell exactly who carried Caylee and who the killer is, given the water line on the shoes themselves. If the shoes were covered in swamp material close to the top of the shoe then the person who killed and deposited Caylee's body would be a lightweight person who would have trouble in picking their feet out of the swamp material because of their strength in countering the suction of the swamp on their feet and the combined weight of carrying Caylee pressing their foot into the swamp. This level of swamp material on the shoe would point to a female killer. If the swamp material was closer to the bottom of the shoe then the evidence would point to a male killer who would have the strength to both carry Caylee and avoid the suction swamp while they were walking thus resulting in a shallower foot print. It was dry in that area till about August so she could have been dumped there before it WAS swampy. The shoes could have been destroyed and since Casey was using stolen money to buy things, there might not be a receipt showing she bought it...could be in another name. Also, the shoes might not have shown anything if the area wasn't swampy at that time. Or, old shoes could be used and thrown away.
3. If someone in the family had purchased a new pair of shoes prior to the disappearance of Caylee and those shoes are now gone then those shoes that are missing would also be a credible link to the killer. But circumstantial because you wouldn't have possession of them & you couldn't get evidence from missing shoes.
The Duct Tape
1. The duct tape was not used to suffocate Caylee but used to administer a lethal dose of either gasoline or other toxic substance that would have caused Caylee to become unconscious and remain unconscious until she died of asphyxiation due to gas inhalation. That's still, by definition, suffocation.
2.If the duct tape was used to suffocated Caylee then it would have been crimped around the nose in order to seal the nostril pathway's to not allow any oxygen into Caylee's lungs. Depending upon the condition of the tape will determine how it was used. If it was crimped then it was used to asphyxiate Caylee. If not and the duct tape was a straight piece that went from the mouth to the mandible then the duct tape was used to administer a chemical substance to keep Caylee sedated as well as eventually causing her to suffocate. Either way it is felony murder because the action could cause harm.
3.The duct tape would also tell the tale of who placed the duct tape over Caylee's mouth due to the following fact. Duct Tape is malleable meaning that it can be formed to different ridges of perforation depending upon the temperature that the duct tape is present in.
Stay with me. Take a piece of duct tape and place it on your hand over the knuckles. In order to form a tight seal you will need to press rather hard on the tape with the other hand thus leaving impression's of the killers fingertip's on the left side of the tape where it was drawn across Caylee's face and at the right end of the piece of tape where the killer would have attached the duct tape to the mandible of Caylee. When the duct tape is placed in such a manner on Caylee's face the killer would had to have pressed rather hard to make the tape stick. The problem again is the 6 months out in the elements and the weather conditions. Insect and animal activity had eaten at the sticky residue. Getting wet and then baking in the Florida heat would change the consistency of those indentations and the fingerprints deteriorate, too.
This evidence could then be placed against anyone in the family where the finger impression in the tape would match the person in the family who killed Caylee. Again, see explanation above.
DNA
3.DNA at the crime scene. If there was DNA taken at the crime scene such as a hair follicle that would tell the tale of the killer being a women because of the length of the hair. Then such hair follicle would once be admissible as a another link to who placed Caylee's body in the swamp. The only hairs found where stuck in the duct tape and were Caylee's as far as I saw during testimony. There was a patch of hair, I think, close to the skull, too. (Not positive on that though.) Again the weather could have blown a lot of the evidence (especially hair) away.
4.Whoever placed Caylee's body in the swamp knew that because of the swampy environment that the heat and microbes associated with a decaying body would cause the body to decompose faster than if the body of Caylee had merely been thrown into a dumpster or cooler area. I can see that point of view. She also could watch to see if anyone was looking there without bringing any suspicion on herself...she could drive by every so often (until she was incarcerated).
It was a boyfriend's MySpace page that had a cartoon with chloroform in the cartoon. They have to file a Motion regarding that issue if it is something they JUST found out about and did not bring up until after the trial was done and both sides had rested.
I tried to give you as many answers as I could. I hope they make sense to anyone who chooses to read it.
(Also, I corrected all your typos that popped up when I was fixing mine. FYI: Caylee has a double "ee" at the end.)
Dwight...3 pieces of duct tape were used and her nose was covered accorrding to the prosecutor. One acrosss the mouth and a cris cross that ran from the mouth to the nostrils
Fingerprints could not be found on the tape
The shoe theory is an interesting one (think OJ and his famouse quote I would never wear thos ugly ass shoes) but if that were the case those shoes would have been burned by the killer and not replaced
A 9 inch blondish brown and untreated hair strand was found in the trunk of the car. Casey and her mom both had treated hair. The child in all liklihood did not
The defense is using the famous Plan B tatic which looks to place a shadow of guilt around another person creating reasonable doubt on thier clients actions. In the end I think she did it but it is very difficult to convict on a first degree murder charge wusing only circumstantial evidence. You cant necessarily blame the prosecution fo this as the evidence is soooo old as to be almost useless. If she is charged with obstruction of justice they will convict her on that but she will walk on the other charges in my opinion
evidence? emotion? i'm emotional. i wish i had her lawyer when a jury of 8 women and 4 men convicted me of domestic abuse on no more than the allegation of my accuser. innocence nor guilt isn't the issue in this nonsense.
Very interesting to detail, but you really missed the most important one......her name is CALEY. C....A.....L.....E.....then the Y. As a mother, it's just disgusting to see someone who can't acknowledge a child's name and the correct one at that.
Another hole in your duct tape theory...gloves. A person wearing gloves to put duct tape on will leave no fingerprints on the duct tape. As for dna evidence from them biting on the end of the tape or what have you, a pair of scissors solves that. As for hair belonging to the baby being in the trunk. My daughter has a car seat. I move that car seat all the time into my trunk, especially if giving rides to my adult friends to the club. It is entirely possible that the hair belonging to the little girl got in the trunk from transfer. I also keep a blanket and pillow in the trunk for my little girl for long car trips. I was cleaning my car today and found some of my daughter's hair in there. To my knowledge she has never been locked in my trunk, so the only explanation is that it transfered off of her car seat and/or blanket/pillow. Just because the daughter's hair was in the trunk proves absolutely nothing. As for the shoes. I just donated 4 pairs of shoes to goodwill, no receipt. One pair I bought, wore once, and decided I hated them, but because I wore them, I didnt feel comfortable returning them for a refund. So just because someone buys a pair of shoes, and then gets rid of them doesnt prove a dang thing. But the biggest hole to your story, nobody can tell how the little girl died. It was upto the prosecution to prove their case. They needed to prove how, why, and who. All the prosecution proved is that the daughter died, and the mother lied. They couldnt even prove that the blood in the car was the daughters or when it got there. A child with a bloody nose, mom holding her while putting groceries in the trunk has the possibility to leave blood on the trunk floor without the child being in it. All of this points to "reasonable doubt" that the prosecution just could not overcome. They didnt have any evidence just a theory and thank god in this country you cant be put to death for someone's theory. If that were the case, I know several dozen politians who would not be alive because of some conspiracy theorists. It takes evidence to convict not theory.
islander - Caylee apparently was in the woods/flood plain too long for much evidence to remain. I am so incredibly cheesed off at the police not investigating that site when they were called 3 TIMES in August, 2008. Including the officer that didn't because he is afraid of snakes. Call for help, for crying out loud! I believe there would have been far more evidence (it makes me sick to refer to Caylee as "evidence"). For shame!!
Way too much CSI here, either television or a lot of reading. Also the assumption that we know everything the investigators did. I also suppose the entire crime could have been solved in an hour.
The problem with the duct tape is there was none of Caylee's dna from her skin on the adhesive side of the tape, as the Prosecuton claimed. Both the State and the Defense made errors, however, the State has the burden of proof, and they failed. Even the forensic expert the state brought in was discredited by the Defense's expert, as she failed to use all of the tools available to determine the cause of death, which bit them in the end.
As it is, Nancy Grace with her constant "Top Mom" name for the Defendant and constant criticisim of the Defense, totally blew it. Do I think Anthony was innocent? No. But the State failed in its burden of proof, and that is the basis of our system of jurisprudence.
Either you watch a very dark version of scooby-doo or your knowledge of killing and duct tape are very creepy. Maybe both. Either way left field is no place to gather evidence for a death penalty.
you forgot;
6. If we travel faster then the speed of light we can go into space beyond the light of the time of the death and watch in real time the actual death using a super high powered telescope and make it back in time for lunch....
@ATC333 Nancy Grace should be banned from all forms of media and someone should sue her for defamation for the slip-shod half-wrapped accusations spewed by that shameless woman looking for ratings.
Only the murderer has reason to lie to the police! So now who lied to the police? Casey Anthony lied to the police. So now who is the murderer? Casey Anthony is the murderer. Who was the last person seen with the child? Casey Anthony was the last person seen with the child. Who should know the wereabouts of their small child? The child's mother. Who is the child's mother? Casey Anthony. We need to do something about people too stupid to be able to get out of jury duty serving on juries!
dwighthuth "it was discovered that the locals had become deranged because of bad wheat that lead them to the murderous acts.... the same thing that is occuring in the Casey Anthony Case."
Are you saying the people are eating bad wheat again, or Casey had bad wheat?
smallseight - Were you being silly or do you really think Caylee's name is spelled Caley? I guess sometimes a snarky comment produces its own brand of karma.
I don't think we will ever get the truth. I think she just wacked out, tried to quiet and knock out the kid to go party and it killed her. It is still total negligence and murder. If it wasn't, she would be better off to just tell the truth and take a lesser punishment, but it is not so.... obviously...its not just manslaughter or negligence, hse killed the kid, plain and simple.
I've seen a lot of comments along this line, that she did not kill Caylee on purpose, that it happened as a result of some effort on her part to simply knock Caylee out. Hmmmm... maybe. Although the duct tape evidence is pretty damning and points to intent outright. Let's concede though, for a moment, that it was accidental. According to Florida law, if Casey killed Caylee accidentally while trying to knock her out, it is still murder 1, because Caylee was a child at the time. It seems most people are missing that fact.
True, Toms ... The fact remains that a little girl was murdered, evidence aside, and pointing blame, however worthy, isn't going to bring her back. I say, let the Lord deal with the person(s) responsible. He'll handle it better than any judicial system.
Normal people would be eaten by guilt. Clearly, Casey has no feelings of guilt. She's smiling and hugging everybody.
Sociopaths don't have any guilt no matter what. They can say an lie, produce any feelings on their faces with no guilt. This can convince nice naive people that they must be innocent because they judge the sociopath by their own standards.
To expose a sociopath it is necessary to confront them in a way they can't get away from. Then their fury knows no bounds.
I think this woman is a sociopath through and through.
I guess she never heard that almost all grand moms will watch the kid at any time. Or benedryl for that matter. Not that I am advocating drugging the child, just saying some parents resort to it when flying.
Lets move on! People are getting killed everyday! There are probaly 10,000 cases like this going on in America and this one gets media attention! WHO CARES! Did they reasonably with out a doubt prove she killed her daughter intentionally IMO I don't think so. They have alot of "Evidence" but they can not "Prove" with out a doubt she intentionally killed her daughter. Innocent until "Proven" guilty. Not "guilty" until proven innocent. Whatever. If they knew with out a doubt she had killed her daughter intentionally the Jury would not be taking this long to come to a conclusion. Think about it people. Many things are flawed in the case.
You are right, there are many cases like this in theU.S and even around the world. But none of them are given the "X" factor, so to speak, of a defendant who creates so many lies, that are sometimes plausible, but blur the line between Truth and lies. Im not saying that she did tell any truth. I think she tried putting alot of BS into the jury's minds. But the fact still remains to me, why would you not report your child missing for 31 days? Even if you ARE trying to cover up an accident, you do not do that. If anything, it just makes you look more guilty and is a definate obstruction of justice. They SHOULD have had Casey sit down with somebody who can read her body language while being interviwed. But I guess trying to figure out if someone is lying or not is too hard for the prosecution. I'm surprised though that this case took this long and did not yet go to the surpreme court. I bet she'll be found not guilty because of the prosectutions evidence, and knowing our luck, we wil be tortuered again and again when we want to watch our favorite TV shows as she will probably be on TV being tried and retried in the supreme court where there they could have the "Final" say.
Gee Rightwing. Some faith you have in the American justice system. It's not perfect but it is still far better than many other countries around the world.
I should think your system of justice looks pretty close to Fascism. Why am I not surprised?
The supreme court will not get involved. The case is closed. The only way they can go after her for the murder of her daughter is if she were to slip up and admit it outright. Double Jeopardy. Learn it.
No matter who did what - someone in that family knows the real truth and they will have to live with that. A small child is dead that never had a chance at life...that is what is sick. That entire family should be sent to a deserted island for the rest of their lives and away from society. Let them do each other in as they did that little girl. Covering up an accident is the same as killing the person....she is gone and cannot come back.
Send them all away as they all seem to know what really happened....too bad we did not have a Perry Mason moment where one of them broke and yelled out the truth....someday one of them will talk and then they need to be treated the exact same way as that little girl was treated.
I believe she murdered her child but how unfortunate that there was just no forensic evidence and unfortunately the jury didn't think much of any of the circumstantial evidence at all. Probably disregarded it all actually.
What mother goes out for 31 days without even bothering to report her child missing? That makes no sense to me whatsoever and goes and parties her ass off and gets a tattoo of its a beautiful life and attends a beauty contest while her child is missing, not even bothering to look for her child. What has the world come to?
Justice was served but not for Calley Anthony. I'm not sure if it will ever be.
At least people can get back to their own lives and stop treating a murder trial like entertainment.
Even her own lawyer could not believe she was aquitted. That is why he was taken so off guard and didn't as for bail. It never occurred to him that she might actually get away with it.

What is so reprehensible and unfathomable is the fact that this lying, child-killer will now be allowed to profit off the death of her child. I can only imagine the various news shows that will be offering her top dollar to tell her story. If by the letter of the law the jury could not find her guilty, we must hope that she will just fade into the background and not gain one more milisecond of notoriety. This is a sad day in the judicial system, especially for Caylee Marie.
Not to worry..No big thing..Roe v Wade, its ready acceptance and implementation shows infanticide is as American as apple pie, and in many quarters taken as likely as apple pie.
I agree! someone in that family knows what happened and everyone is covering for each other. Very difficult to prove no matter what we think of Casey.
I believe that George and Cindy are not without sin in this whole case. The important thing is to remember this sweet innocent baby girl and hope this whole family has to live with this now for the rest of there lives for there lies!!
Even if this little girl was "accidentally" killed, what truly grieving mother goes out and get tattoos and party's??? If it was an accident, most moms would be hysterical. Some "Heart."
Casey Anthony will have no problem going on and living her life becaues she has no conscience. She deosn't feel guilt or remorse like normal people. She will probably be back partying at the night clubs next week.

Yep, this wasn't a crime. It was just post-gestation abortion. She took the whole motherhood thing for a spin, decided she didn't like it, and made a choice to end it. Whether her daughter was torn apart in the uterus and vacuumed out with a tube or murdered and burried in a swamp, the end result is the same - a little girl who never had a chance at life because her mother was too selfish to take responsibility and be a mother.
Execution is the only just punishment for this monster. And the needle is a mercy she does not deserve. But that is all we can do to rid the world of this baby killer.
Karma, came back and got OJ! Karma will come back to get Caysee. Truth, The whole family are a bunch of contradicting liars. George, Cindy,Lee, their punk ass son and of course last but not least, you know who that is! Something real bad is going to happen to that whole family! Being knowlogable about our judicial system myself, she will get time served, and walk free on Thursday! Fate is waitng for her when she walks out of that courtroom! It may take 1 year or 10 years. Believe this, she is going to end up in jail again, or end up dying a slow, torturing death. What's next, we will be watching on TV that Casey Anthony is pregnant with Jose Baez's baby. These Jurors will also suffer for there decision. All of them are going to be set for life money wise along with the Anthony family. Book deals, Movie deals, People Magazine, Enquirer. Like i made a comment the other day! They turned this into a circus, just like the OJ trial! See what happened to him, watch what happens to her. I hope God comes through for us on december 21st 2012. This world does not deserve to live any longer than that. We have abused, this world long enough! lying, cheating, killing, stealing. You think times are tough now, watch and see what happens around spring of 2012! It is gonna wipe the smirks and smiles people walk around with now!
Kirk, if you re-read Jannie's comment, she is far from a "nut job" based on her saying, "Now she can really party", i believe she meant it as an insult. The only nut job in any of this is Casey Anthony.
this entire family needs to go to jail for perjury and casey anthony should have been the one to (sucessfully...) attempt suicide.
the mother is a liar, the father is a liar, the brother is also suspect, and even the meter reader lied during testimony.
it is a shame that it won't be over for a long time. regardless what the jury says, it will be appealed for a long time and all the while, casey gets to remain alive?!
You are comparing Clinton having oral sex and lying about it to someone murdering a child, hiding the body and lying about it? Seriously? Guess that explains the jury.....they must be stupid too.
It is pitiful ~ how can those jurors not "see" her guilt!! This woman looked bored most of the time...she NEVER in my opinon, ever looked scared, remorseful, grief-strickened, or exhausted from having cried and cried and cried and....
Islander, you're as nutty as this lying, murdering little self-adsorbed whore. A beautiful, vibrant little girl was murdered by this human scum, and will never grow up, fall in love, marry and have children of her own because her monster of a mother would rather party than take care of her resposibility. And you say someone in this sordid mess deserves a pass? You're also as nutty as the twelve morons who gave the mother a get-out-of-jail card. These assinine jurors should be sent to an asylum for the terminally stupid. We should have professional jurors, who are trained to look at evidence and render a just verdict, not a bunch of dimwits whose only contact with the law are episodes of Law and Order. Everyone else in the courtroom must have some sort of law or law enforcement background, why not the very people who need to make the choice between guilt or innocence? Jury of her peers my ass. Who speaks for Caylee?
Jim, sorry, but the prosecution does not get to appeal. It will be talked about in the news, and unfortunately somebody will make money from this tragedy, but the prosecution doesn't get another bite at this apple.
A unanimous verdict by 12 people who needed only 10 hours to decide. It was not a hung jury but 12 peers who heard every word of the evidence. Now be amazed at the arrogance of posters here who know better after watching a few snippets and being told what to think by commentators. Is there any wonder that similar talking heads convinced these people to vote for Obama?
I JUST talked with my mother on the phone about this. She said she would NEVER lie for one of us (her daughters) if we did anything like Casey Anthony did.
Cindy was so concerned with protecting Casey. Why wasn't she as concerned with seeing that justice was served for her grandaughter? Why didn't Caylee get that consideration from her blood relatives who should have loved her?
You hit on something I've been sharing with my spouse for days. Casey has never been accountable for her actions or been disciplined by her mother. That is how she grew up to be the selfish bitch. I see it all the time with parents on flights where they let their kids scream and run up the aisle or in public and do whatever the hell they want. Casy's mom never put her daughter in check, and put Casey first over her family. She is a princes and can do no wrong, the jury perpetuated the problem, she'll continue being a selfish murder. The truth will come out someday, it always does.
Except that most murder cases are tried on circumstantial evidence... A fingerprint on a murder weapon is "circumstantial" unless you have proof of it being placed there by the murderer during the crime.
Scumbag Scott Peterson was convicted basically due to ONE of his wife's hairs found in a pair of his pliers.
Most criminals of any type don't set out to do their dirty deeds in front of witnesses or video, or plan to leave behind "hard" evidence, just waiting for law enforcement.
Gloria, if we used your strict criteria for guilt, there would be no conviction of any serious crimes. As CSH stated, most cases are based on circumstantial evidence. It seems you require multiple eye witness' with dozens of direct evidence before you consider guilt; you are a D.A. wet dream.
Stratplayer I hate circumstantial evidence! My two Favorites are DNA, and Eye witnesses.
You say most cases are based on circumstantial evidence, and how many people are sitting in jail who are innocent yet convicted on circumstantial evidence?
In the last year 5 count them 5 people were released in my state, thanks to DNA.They too were convicted on circumstantial evidence.
I'm sorry but if you're going to put somebody on trial for murder, you better dam well have a hell of a lot more evidence, than just circumstantial evidence.
Some of the evidence that these prosecutors came up with was a joke.
I don't know if she's guilty or not guilty, but you better dam well have all your ducks in a row before you try and convict somebody for anything.
I know I had a relative who has been there. He went to trial and the evidence was so Shoddy, it was a joke.Thank God he was aquitted.
One more thing the Former Chief Justice from the Connecticut Supreme Court, yelled at the Chief States Attorney, for even bringing this to trial, because it was so SHODDY.Now you tell me,what does that tell you?
If she did it then trust she will have to live with that bad luck for the rest of her life! The final judgement is when she have to face God, so he will deal with her!
DNA I will give you, eye witnesses--not so much. Many many cases of an eye witness have been disproven later based on DNA. Cases where the victim was "sure" they had the right person. Most people are bad a recalling faces, more so under stress. Eye witnesses may be all we have in some cases but they are no where near as reliable as we seem to think or as TV would have us believe they are.
Take a look at the project innocence website and see the stories of people, many convicted on eye witness accounts, who were later freed on more solid evidence.
Ask any lawyer, gloria. Eye witness testimony can be some of the least reliable testimony available.
And you're kidding about hating circumstantial evidence, right? It is probably the VAST majority of evidence presented at trials. Would you commit a crime in front of witnesses and/or video, or not try to not leave behind "hard" evidence? We'd all be in a lot of trouble without circumstantial evidence.
And DNA is good, but I looked up information about that, and only about 5% of crime cases have DNA available. Agreed - it is a great tool when available, however, apparently it is not in most cases.
Eye Witnesses are not as reliable as you think. People often give 'shoddy' description. People may forget important features, 'think' they saw a recognizable mark, or it was too dark for them to get a good veiw and mistake an innocent person for the suspect. DNA can also be compromised. Sometimes the equiptment is contaminated.
As for Casey Anthony, I believe she did it because she lied so many times, plus the fact that after losing her child she went out to have a good. If anyone thinks 'it's her way of dealing with it', hell no it's not. If my son went missing, I would do everything I could to find him. I would not go out to clubs and dance and drink. She didn't even seem upset that her daughter was missing and possibly dead. No, I believe she did it.
I would hope that, after this lengthy trial and all the evidence and testimony entered, the jurors would take this long. They should be examining and discussing all that they have seen and heard - not taking one vote and saying, "okay, let's get out of here!" Their responsibility is to review it all, not satisfy our need for instant gratification.
I hope the hang on every count, so we can waist another 6 months on this story
It is a distinct possibility.
" 'All you have to ask yourself is, whose life was better without Caylee?' prosecutor says to jury"
---
All you have to ask yourself is, "What did the prosecution actually PROVE?"
Aqua, it appears only a video of the death, two or more eyewitnesses or a signed confession are the only proof you can accept.
As well as Casey lies and spins BS, she would make a damn good lawyer!
If she get's off scot-free ... Casey and Baez could hook up in more ways than one.
They could coin the "Casey in Wonderland" defense!
BUT ... I bet Baez would stipulate "NO KIDS"!
Ludicrous.
momanddad-3266459 ... did the cases that you pointed out involve a "psychopathic liar" such as Casey ... NO!
What is "Ludicrous" are the blinders you seem to be wearing!
I hope they take it to supreme court.
Jury found this person Not Guilty.
How long before she is no longer called a murderer?
Acquitted?! Really!? And why can't they print the whole verdict?
I'll stand by the jury's decision. They spent 8 weeks listening to all of the evidence. If they believe the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, then so be it.
It was never up to the court of public opinion.
You weren't on the jury. If you don't like it, too bad. Maybe you should go back to worrying about YOUR OWN LIFE now.
I didn't even read past the headline because this "verdict" is just disgusting.
Honestly I'm not surprised.
I doubt it.
I think her father is a nut case, is he trying to set up the local police to have another unsolved murder in their dockets? What is to be gained from that?
doesn't matter how much she did it or how obviously full of holes her story was...the prosecution never had substantial overwhelming material evidence on any account...so you can't convict her...thats the law like it or not
Only in America !!!
The deceased little girl can take some comfort in knowing that absolutely nobody murdered her.
One word - UNBELIEVEABLE.
OJ Simpson will have to disagree with you on that one.
Next thing you know she'll write a book called "If I killed my daughter"
Just like OJ! Clean and Clear! Thanks justice system!
Cough Cough
I said this after OJ, it is time we move to a system of professional jurors, a panel of 3 or 5 people who know what they are doing.
These jurors are IDIOTS!
She received manslaughter, not a slap on the wrist, but definitely a lot less than 1st Degree Murder.
I've looked at the evidence, and I always knew that there wasn't enough for murder, just a very convincing argument for a lesser crime.
There is no justice in our justice system.
Longhair, OJ was never found guilty of the murder of his ex-wife and friend. Not in the court of law. Civil court is another matter.
Double Jeopardy. Read up on it.
As with OJ America is a laughing stock once again.
I 2nd that comment tony-268769!!
Exactly! What's sad in all of this is that the murder/"accident" was never solved. Granted the defense wasn't required to do that but still.
Someone said George Anthony didn't look happy, I wonder if its because he feels his daughter is guilty and that in her defense he was thrown under the bus...
I have that same sick empty feeling just like I did when O.J. walked. I am completely speechless!!!
aquatone is exactly right.
What a waste of a precious life and a mother who deserves nothing but time in Prison.
Rightwing73 writes -
I hope they take it to supreme court.
What? WHO would you like to take this case to the Supreme Court. The prosecution lost. They don't have an appeal process. In fact this defendant can never be tried again for this crime.
Don't we teach civics classes anymore?
getalife -- be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!
How pitiful
before everyone goes CRAZY about this...
The 'justice system' now needs to investigate and determine just what made that little girl commit suicide.
Because the court has determined that nobody murdered her.
I wonder how she's going to pay off her debt to Jose for the rest of her lie, cleaning under his desk 3 days a week? or 365 days a year?
Evidentially not Stacy! It scares me that people would actually be ok if we changed our justice system to something like that! Good grief!
...and for once I agree with FedupwithFed. That doesn't happen often! :)
No, the court determined there was not enough evidence to convict her mother of murdering her. WAY different thing there!
THANK YOU!!!!
And you know this how? You were a fly on the wall in the jury room?
I'm glad I didn't get deeply involved in this case. I'd be really upset right now if I had.
perhaps landowners with a steady income & at least 15 windows in their home would be chosen for this panel? that would never work - we would end up with corruption & insider politics & the "professional jurors" would probably end up being just as idiotic! i agree, looking at this verdict, i come away with a VERY bad feeling about this jury, especially as they took a 33 day trial & deliberated for 10 hours - even with shabby prosecution & a largely circumstantial case, surely a person has common sense (the law doesnt instruct us to become morons); however, the majority of trials turn out satisfactorily. these just arent so widely publicized.
What a travesty!
Aggie-345886
I already corrected myself in the post just after it, but thanks anyways.
pjam09, How could the prosecution not give enough hard facts to logically convince these people. Just because she was brought to trial does not mean she was guilty, remember innocent until proven guilty? Or the burden of proof lays with the prosecutions?
justwonderin, Thank you for your service. But you are also making way too many assumption of the jurors. Just because they did not return the verdict you want make them lazy nor couch potatoes, nor ignorant.
at the very least she was guilty of aggravated manslaughter and child abuse.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM................ let's look at the proof........................ looking................ looking.....................looking.........
Of course. Isn't the dirty secret we're all up here to read those idiotic comments?
I agree though -- the Supreme court??? Guess they never head of double jeopardy. The ignorance up here is rather appalling!
Tony:
Yes, the Jury has to have exact information such as DNA, facts, and evidence as proven by the Sentence..
See, the Jurors declared Casey was NOT GUILTY because of these circumstances.
Not reporting a daughter missing for 31 days is NOT a crime.
The Crime here is that there is NO justice for little Caylee---an innocent child, who's Mother most likely had something to do with it/or the parents--and everyone walks free.
What about the dead child?
PARTY TIME!!!
Casey can now go back and mourn her daughter's death...just like she did when she kille---errrr, Caylee accidently drowned in the pool.
Tatoo anyone?
GetalifeAmerica:
There were no fingerprints found on the duct tape.
Obama? Wow! In your biased mind, what negative isn't our President responsible for?

This is for all those who want to share the pain with me:http://americarepublic.newsvine.com/_news/2011/07/05/7019357-casey-anthony-and-the-famous-act-as-caylees-spirt-suffers-your-thoughts-and-views
Don't care whose side your on...you can join in.
No one.
No comments from the most outspoken person on here....cant wait to hear what Karen has to spew today....
My opinion is based on the evidence, logic and common sense.
you are wrong. they DO have a choice. a jury can do whatever they want to do. they can find however they want. they don't have to stick with "beyond a reasonable doubt." they can go with their heart / logic.
ask Scott Peterson.
Thank you for your post, gmainco. I agree with you 100%.
Casey Anthony HERSELF said her daughter's death was an "accident."
I blame the prosecutors for not including a charge of negligent homicide. The charges they did pick were a huge burden.
Anthony's attorney STATED OUT LOUD IN COURT THAT THE DAUGHTER'S DEATH WAS AN ACCIDENT.
Casey Anthony DOES KNOW what happened if her attorney can make this comment.
Oh well, as my friend just said "karma will not acquit her" and who do you think will hire Casey Anthony for work, be her boyfriend, or friend now?
Bet she's in the papers for partying and screwing half the guys in Orlando by the end of the week.
RIP, Caylee.
Casey and OJ should make a nice couple. Casey and OJ sitting in a tree k i l l i n g.
We can't take the criticisms and opinions seriously of those who clearly post and thus evidence that they don't understand the legal system in this country!
rightwing73,
You are unbelievably ignorant!
There is no appealing a not guilty verdict!
Concerned, do you honestly believe that victims have as many, or more, rights in this country than criminals? Sorry, I just don't see it.
I'm curious, there are so many posts here, I didn't read them all. Did someone actually say this should go to the Supreme Court?? Holy Moly!
Wrong. Proven without reasonable doubt, not no doubt!!!!
.
Nothing has to be proven in the court of public opinion.
This jury did it's job... how can murder be proven if cause of death cannot?
Yay! No body has to answer for the little girl's death. What a day for the legal system.. HURRAHH! More encouragement and hope for Murderers everywhere. YAY!
What a country!
Well if she didn't do it , pray / tell who did?
She had a dead girl in her trunk
Told no one about it for 30 days.
Uhhhhh no,..... course not, she had nothing to do with it---but she is guilty of lying about it?
In texas this chic would have fried. If it had been a man he would have fried in either place and you would not have seen a media circus either.
They are mostly a bunch of corrupt sharks ambitious for political office and the system now lets them get away with murder (literally).
someone said "She received manslaughter, not a slap on the wrist, but definitely a lot less than 1st Degree Murder.
I've looked at the evidence, and I always knew that there wasn't enough for murder, just a very convincing argument for a lesser crime."
What verdict did you watch?? I wish you were right, but only thing she was found guilty of was lying to law enforcement.
Garbage containing maggots was found in the car too. Maggots eat meat and rotten ham smells the same as rotten human remains.
Isn't it ironic that "Getalife" doesn't know about the word "boogie?"
However, it is not sad enough to want to take away the civil rights of people.
bobbyg--
there was proof that a decomposing human body was in her trunk and in the Anthony’s back yard, not ham. Also investigators have stated that the bag of trash smelled like ordinary trash and not like a decomposing body. If we are all going ignore the facts and rely on fantasy stories than Casey has a few she can come up with to help ya out.
not proof of a human body... not even real evidence... someone said they smelled it... that is all.
Explain why OJ is serving a life sentence while his accomplice recieved probation for the same exact charges?
bobbyg is a troll - ignore him.
isn’t ironic that Bobbyg's only response is to my spelling. really mature but i guess the spelling of a hypothetical being is more important than the topic
A police dog trained to sniff out the scent of human remains smelled it in the truck of her car and the families back yard.
And yes bobbyg is a troll
What a sad miscarriage of justice.
What is seen here is the state charging above and beyond what the evidence would support. As the result, she is free to continue her life as if nothing happened. They tried to make a career case out of a circumstantial case and missed the boat.
sorry i got the special people mixed up---LOSTFlorida (ironic comment)

Can someone please explainwhy comment #1.5 (momanddad-3266459) was collapsed? There was nothing inappropriate there.
Yes it's double jeopardy.
If there were applicable FEDERAL charges, the feds could charge her but I don't see any possibilities.
She has already served time in jail (probably enough to cover the misdemeanors she was convicted of) so she'll probably be set free on Thursday.

Maggots are only found on/in rotting flesh.
You know people, the 'report abuse' button is not a 'negative rating' system. If it continues to be abused in the long run, there could eventually be consequences and changes to the system.
@Gary-Chicago;
I would never even attempt to possibly think of ever using a Professional Jury system.
The prosecutor did a lousy job....now on to his next career....Fox News reporter.
Gary of Chicago:
Collapsed by the Community and the other commentors/other Collapsed writers have to be Collapsed also?. There were some very valuable statements made by others not pertaining to Gary's remarks..
MSNBC, please try to keep the ones on this blog that make sense, not just because they are under some other's ridiculous statement.
Not Fair.
Their agenda was RATINGS!
Desecrating? How is DUCT tape desecrating? Do you even know the meaning of the word? Go buy a dictionary!
And how do you know Casey put duct tape on her? There were no fingerprints or DNA on the duct tape. For all you know...Kronk put the duct tape on her when he found her...and hid her for 4 months...so he could collect reward money....where is the public outcry against him??????????
and while we are at it...if he had not hidden the body for 4 months, we might KNOW how she died!
another case tried via the media and they do their job whipping up a public frenzy.
Longhair, OJ is in prison for a entirely different reason. Armed robbery and kidnapping. Minimum 9 years without parole.
He is not in prison for the murder of his exwife and her friend.

I have to wonder if this family having a police officer in it resulted in a lighter punishment.
If the jury believes the defense's version that means they believe George Anthony both molested his daughter and tried to frame the accident up as a murder.
If that's true then Mr. Anthony is due for some investigation himself.....
Okay, I believe this woman is guilty, however, that is why we have a court system.
So, now can the MEDIA SHUT THE F**K UP ALREADY!
bobbyg, the prosecution does not have to prove cause of death, or motive, for that matter.
Yeah and depressed people NEVER drink! Ever hear of DROWNING your sorrows?
I only care about justice for Caylee, and there is none. Judicial niceties aside, Casey Anthony just got away with murder, folks.
No, it doesn't. Spend a little time working for a crime/death cleanup crew.
Really? I guess you should inform the doctors using sterile maggots to clear infected tissue in patients.
OJ is in for unrelated crimes, and let's hope there is no repeat with Anthony; we don't need another dead child that will never see justice. The best we can hope for now is that she will never have another child.
In this case and in general, do you really believe someone is innocent just because 12 people say so? Someone may be acquitted, but that does not always mean they are innocent.
Ever hear of GRIEVING FOR YOUR DEAD CHILD? 'Drowning sorrows' would be believable in this case if she had actually reported her child's death and given her a proper burial.
I want to know what kind of medical examiner cant determine how the child died.
And Nancy Grace needs to shut up and quit trying to make headlines with her pathetic spin...she has such a big mouth..
There had to be stuff we didnt know about that was presented to the jury. This is too weird.
2. Governed by or being in accordance with reason or sound thinking
a: being in accordance with reason b: not extreme or excessive
1. agreeable to reason or sound judgment; logical. 2. not exceeding the limit prescribed by reason.
Jesus wept.
Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton retiring
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-casey-anthony-prosecutor-ashton-re20110705,0,7123722.story
Says A LOT! He failed!
Somebody who thinks she is innocent and is on medication will.
I saw the parents and they had that look of disbelief. Her parents won't have anything to do with her now. Well, at least untill she has another child by some random stranger she meets in a club.
KILA is not a legal expert either...but she plays one on newsvine.
Fed, he was planning on retiring regardless.
1.65, 1.69 deleted, AmericaRepublic one-line derailing about the POTUS, BJs65-634377 flaming them. You're each suspended for a day for violating #4 and #1 of the Code of Honor, respectively.
Sandie-644591, check the first rule:
Mr. PN
I bet you do.
Well, I'm shocked, but then I wasn't in the court room as a Juror...
I felt she was guilty, but it's up to the prosecution to prove "beyond a shadow of doubt" that she was guilty, and apparently they didn't.
Maybe she accidently caused her daughter's death, but let's not forget the victim in all this... a precious little girl who's now one of God's angels.
The little girl must have climbed into the trunk of her mother's car with a trash bag and a few strips of duct tape and commited suicide.
What a country !
I agree as I wasn't there either...in the courtroom for 33 days or deliberating for 10 hours, but a jury of her peers returned with the judgment of 'not guilty.' Apparently, the prosecution did not prove she committed the crime 'beyond a reasonable doubt.'
Blessings to that little child.
@Really
This is a great point. I think that public opinion brought this to trial before there was enough evidence. DA's bad choice. However, now they must deal with it, because the jury saw through it.
Again ...
They don't have to prove motive, either.
If you don't, she was lying, why would you believe she didn't murder her daughter then?
there is only guilty or not guilty .You are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!
Someone eats those cookies every year !
No motive is the one that separates this case from all other circumstantial murders. The "she just wanted to party and didn't want to care for her" was shot down by one of the witnesses. She never actually verbalized that to anyone.
innocent until proven guilty does not apply to cases that involve I.R.S. scrutiny.......kinda interesting that our legal system holds the almighty dollar in higher regard than a human life........
not really surprising look at politics and healthcare
Cognative, guilty people are aquitted. (Csh, see how hard I worked not to add "moron")
Hows that job at wal-mart working for you ? cause I know you didn't pass the bar , except on your way home .
Oh Cognative, it's so obvious that you have been dying to tell that 'bar' joke.
"Cognative"? Great spelling.
T1284's joke about the joke was actually funnier than the joke...
Thanks formerstew. It's easy to be funny when you can think about what to write before hitting "Post Comment." :)
in 2008 i said kill her " Today i am somwhat confused , Either way this family will suffer for the rest of thier life , what more sick is the media will sensationalize the story to the point were people get rich that dont deserve it , I am glad Jane velez mitchell is taken over the nancy hour , I was kinda tired of her old breaking news stories , jury will come back guilty with out capital , no death bid for casey sorry people just saying ?
I hope she steps in front of a bus leaving the courthouse, along with the incompetent jurors.
To pjam09: I don't think that the jurors were incompetant; they did their duty as they were instructed.
The jurors did a incompetent job as jurors! They thought reasonable doubt = no doubt. I have been on jury duty with ignorant jurors that don't know shyott or how to exit the building much less understand the law! Defense lawyers like to load the jury with dingbats! It only takes a couple.
taxmen, why not let casey babysit your kids!
Act2
taxmen, why not let casey babysit your kids!
taxman-3339924 made a comment based on logic not emotion.
Who plays Casey on the soon to be made for TV movie? I vote Lindsey Lohan. Similiar looks and equally narsicistic.
I'd say Jennifer Love Hewwit or Alyssa Milano.
Love what ya said! Sad... but true!
Yea, for sure this will be TV movie, what total BS, I hope this woman is haunted for the rest of her life, or will she get pregnant again????
Roseanne Barr - Casey would kill herself.
Well at least someone with big tits.
It would for sure have to be Summer Glau, she looks IDENTICAL to her in some picstures. They could be twins.
Neither Jennifer nor Alyssa would play her I dont think.
I read Kristen Stewart from the Twilight film series is being considered.
Who gonna play the baby daddy? Or better, who is the baby daddy?
Alyce, I think she will be pregnant again. Not long after she's out.
Casper, the friendly ghost will be cast as Daddy.
Kristen Stewart from the Twilight film series.
Whoever it is, then let me be the first to BOYCOTT any sponsor and producer who picks up this project.
.
How about Charlie Sheen, since they are both, clearly, winning...??
Charlie Sheen...both seem to be winning...
I think Kristen Stewart would be good.. Or Marilyn Manson. Without makeup, they both resemble each other.
I say Casey Anthony herself... shes a very good actress!
Out of jail Thursday morning, sleeping with Tony Lazzaro Thursday afternoon. Uhhh, Caylee who?????
Charlie Sheen's a dead-ringer for a callback...well, they are both winning...
Evidently the jury believes her stand on abortion should be retroactive.
Now if you want to rid of your kids just take them to Florida, this jury must have S.F.B. or aka shi@ for brains. What goes around comes around , sooner or later.

w if No
I say she gets life without parole.
Occum's razor comes to mind.
apparently the jury had to choose between the lesser incompetent entities that presented the case...........the real tragedy here is the shredding of the truth via lies ,half truths and innuendo.......pathetic display by all concerned and now we can enjoy the media's incessant droning on until the next tragedy captures their miniscule minds.
Theres a big party at casey anthonys apt tonight , leave your kids with zanny the nanny, and pick them up in 30 days.
I believe you might have messed up with that post Twn.
Ok it easy to get caught up in the moment. I agree im not for the capital charge life in prison will do. Thanks for bringing that to light for me.
I don't think anything in particular "if she would of had an abortion." On the other hand, if she would have had an abortion I might have an opinion.
Twnship,
Go back to drooling over your tax cuts for the elite.
Jacka$$.
Twnship, basically johnluci destroyed your argument, and that is your excuse?
Really this is why somebody should get an abortion, if a child would be that troublesome, then have an abortion and forget about it. Or give the baby up for adoption, not too bad of a thought either.
Can you Cons ever, even for a tiny moment, EVER stay on topic?
Just a matter of time until Obama gets blamed for this.
If that was a bad assumption, then I apologize.
once again the mental midgets insist on picking the flysh!t from the pepper........
Well Lonestar, what you Cons are proposing is trashing the US CONSTITUTION and rewriting it to suit your views.
Yeah. The "real" American way.
Ha.
And I admit I am assuming you are "Christian". More than likely I'm right on the money.
Bottom line is that we were NOT on the jury.
She doesn't have a conscience so no matter what she knows it will never bother her!
Casey has not conscience and she knows she just got away with murder.
Me too. I'd love to watch her face react.
Give her her own reality show. Then I could BOYCOTT it.
I heard Casey Anthonys opening a day care .
Lol...ThereseInNevada...that might be a good advice for her to take.
Sorry folks, but Amber Frey put Scott Peterson away!
Apparently there is cause for other than guilty, it's called reasonable doubt
If the cause of death did not involve trauma to the bones or a chemical that accumulates in them, you can't tell the cause of death of a skeleton.
Aw... there goes the old thread with like 8,000 comments.
Patience Miss. Good things come to those who wait.
Isn't it still on here somewhere? You could probably find it if you looked.
I found it...it has 6673 comments.
The other post just hit 6700 MissScarlet. If you'd rather post there I can give you the info to get back over there.
I've been posting on both.
Lol. Thanks but it's not actually that important to me. :P
Ray, you have every right to have opinion. As I have every right to let you know you are a few fries short of a Happy Meal.
RIP Caylee.
Casey should not be able to ever have children again!!!!!!!!
She will probably end up pregnant again in a few months or so, givin the live style she likes to live , and I thought the most dangerous place in America was in the mothers womb.
All of the evidence presented by the prosecution was circumstantial and, in several cases, flawed.
31 days 'missing' and her Mother never reported this. Enough said.
I agree Cindy
And you don't "cover up" an accidental drowning.
Ask Scott Peterson about circumstantial evidence! He's spending life in prison which is where she should be. First not 1st then at least 2nd.
Someone killed Caylee. God bless her little soul. May justice for this horrible crime be done, no matter who did it. God will have the final say....
In my mind, it's a sad day for justice. Rest in peace, Caylee -
While she may have been found not guilty in murdering her daughter, she is guilty as we all are in sinning against a Holy and just God.
Something to think about
Missing Swamp Evidence
Why did the mother not report the child missing for 31 days?
dwight, put down the remote and step away from the CSI!!!!
I take it you watched alot of CSI episodes?
Dude, there's a baseball season going on...
I dont watch CSI nor do I watch baseball.
Smoke a lot of pot?
evidence? emotion? i'm emotional. i wish i had her lawyer when a jury of 8 women and 4 men convicted me of domestic abuse on no more than the allegation of my accuser. innocence nor guilt isn't the issue in this nonsense.
No. But the State failed in its burden of proof, and that is the basis of our system of jurisprudence.
dwighthuth,
Either you watch a very dark version of scooby-doo or your knowledge of killing and duct tape are very creepy. Maybe both. Either way left field is no place to gather evidence for a death penalty.
you forgot;
6. If we travel faster then the speed of light we can go into space beyond the light of the time of the death and watch in real time the actual death using a super high powered telescope and make it back in time for lunch....
@ATC333 Nancy Grace should be banned from all forms of media and someone should sue her for defamation for the slip-shod half-wrapped accusations spewed by that shameless woman looking for ratings.
keep em separated.
NRAVO, Nancy is a SOAP BOX SLUT!
More fantasy from dwighthuth.
Are you saying the people are eating bad wheat again, or Casey had bad wheat?
smallseight - Were you being silly or do you really think Caylee's name is spelled Caley? I guess sometimes a snarky comment produces its own brand of karma.
Really, it's one thing to correct someone. But you have to be right in order to do it!
Yep, Toms - Florida statute 782.04(1)(A)(1).
She must have been hitting the crack pipe too hard.
Learn it.
Well since it is only 10,000, yea lets not dwell on it. American Idol is on!!!
This is so messed up. No justice for that poor little girl.
The jurors are the people who will have to live with their guilt for letting this murdering swine go free.
Mark my words. She will kill again now that she knows how easy it is.
But that sociopath will never feel a moment's pause. She is immune from guilt. That's what a sociopath is.
Even her own lawyer could not believe she was aquitted. That is why he was taken so off guard and didn't as for bail. It never occurred to him that she might actually get away with it.

Agree 100%
I completely agree as well.
Absolutely agree.
The parents did NOT look happy. They know she did it.
Of course, the parents know.
But that is all we can do to rid the world of this baby killer.
agree
this verdict is digusting... just think of that 2 year old dying.... she needs to be tortured the rest of her life..
She'll be tortured by being in her own private hell until the day she dies!
Oh she will be tortured... GOD KNOW'S ALL AND SEE'S ALL...
No, she won't, Jane - she's a sociopath (sp); only cares for herself - no one else matters. Now she can really party!
UMMM OK.....NUT JOB! i was with you till the end
Kirk, if you re-read Jannie's comment, she is far from a "nut job" based on her saying, "Now she can really party", i believe she meant it as an insult. The only nut job in any of this is Casey Anthony.
this entire family needs to go to jail for perjury and casey anthony should have been the one to (sucessfully...) attempt suicide.
the mother is a liar, the father is a liar, the brother is also suspect, and even the meter reader lied during testimony.
it is a shame that it won't be over for a long time. regardless what the jury says, it will be appealed for a long time and all the while, casey gets to remain alive?!
it is a shame she continues to live.....
Oh let her live.....death is too easy of a punishment for her!
islander...perhaps we should eliminate perjury altogether then as, anyone who does it has a valid motive.
You are comparing Clinton having oral sex and lying about it to someone murdering a child, hiding the body and lying about it? Seriously? Guess that explains the jury.....they must be stupid too.
What on earth does Bill Clinton have to do with this story? And, by the way, it's POTUS, not p.o.s.
High-Five to MisterZ!! LOL
It is pitiful ~ how can those jurors not "see" her guilt!! This woman looked bored most of the time...she NEVER in my opinon, ever looked scared, remorseful, grief-strickened, or exhausted from having cried and cried and cried and....
Who wouldn't be bored she doesn't care about anyone but herself? How bout the hefty bills her parents paid for defense and they get disgraced!
p.o.s means piece of sh!t...just so that you know.
My mother believes in being responsible for your own actions, not perjury. I would not perjure myself for my son, either.
However, Herbie, some people are born sociopathic as well. Bad brain wiring.
Casey did it on her own.
I love these people! We're you there? You actually saw her do it? Amazing!Just wondering!
Meryl Steep - so she can say, yet again, "The dingo ate my baby!"
If she did it then trust she will have to live with that bad luck for the rest of her life! The final judgement is when she have to face God, so he will deal with her!
The entire world knows the truth, she did it for real, and is only in God's hands, nobody leave the life owing anything.
Can any one say, " Jose Baez is the Devils Advocate"?
Exactly UMM!Project innocence is a savior to a lot of innocent people.
And csh, DNA IS circumstantial evidence.
Now our tax dollars will be taking care of her for life.
It's a waste of our money.
waste
If she would have got the penalty from murder and other stuff, and she would have been innocent - That would have been hugely wrong for her.
