Related story: Have Casey Anthony prosecutors made their case?
Only posted to be sarcastic about the idiot taking the stand. I want here to, so she could be broken down for once in her daydream protected little world of hers!
I know that the jury didn't see it but everyone else and myself did. When the state showed that video they made of little Caylee and then the duck tape super imposed over Caylee mouth. Casey Anthony intently watched that video when the jury was out of the room, however when the jury came back in and watched the video, Casey started her crying act...
Casey Anthony is pure evil.
This is a woman who obviously never should have been allowed to keep Caylee. Everything is about Casey, the child just got in the way of being a party girl. She needs to get her just reward, the same she gave her daughter would be a start.
nancy grace or tot mom...you decide....whose side your on...i wish tot mom had a show..
Unnggghhhh!! I hate Nancy Grace and that stupid nickname! Whenever I hear tot, all I think about are tater tots. It's a stupid nickname. I guess she needed a name with 3 letters to make it easy to remember.
Casey with a show, huh? What nickname would she give Nancy? Maybe big pig, or something like that. It would have to be simple and easy for her to remember... like her lies. Plus she could use a squeal every time she showed a picture of her. heh heh
i figure they would start the show with tot mom holler'n ... in your face nancy grace...then play the name game with zanny the nanny bo-bo fanny ..zanny...
Heh heh... (insensitivity coming...BEWARE) Ya, after they show the "In your Face" graphic, they could have a piece of duct tape cover up Nancy's mouth. What? I warned you that it was a REALLY bad joke and in poor taste... Unfortunately, I see Nancy chewing thru the tape anyways.
I can not vote because the options are not very descriptive.
Nonetheless, she should not testify. She has not ever told the truth in this matter so the jury won't believe her anyway.
her defence, and her making the comment that being molested from the age of 8 (lol) made her the good liar she is today..... if that were the case, every politicial, lobbyist, and so on not only must have been molested at an early age, but still being molested to this day....she has nothing on them, outside of how outlandish her stories have gotton since day 1.
As far as Kronk who found the body goes.... some how he knows what happend, he isnt saying. he knows because in some out of the way form, he has to know casey. he might have overheard her say something, she might have confided in him while intoxicated, she does know him, and he her. Like a champ however, he has until again now remained out of the spotlight for the most part. I think in this trial as stated in the article we may never know the true means of death for this poor little girl..... but we will know casey killled herm hid her body, and has lied from day 1 to protect herself.
What i think i would like to see out of all this whole trial outside of the guilty verdict... is when they cross exsamin her father on the molestation accusations. Me as a father i would find it hard as all hell, not to chock the living sh!t out of someone who would be accusing me of such a crime, to cover up any wrong doing on their part, so yes starting with casey. Just wondering if they have been doing weapon searches on the family, and so on when they come to testify... be a real show if he (the father) popped a lead slug right between her eyes.
Hey Megalodon, I will be the first to tell you that I do not know anything but the barest of info on Kronk. I heard that he found the body, and then I heard he made a bunch of calls earlier saying that he knew where the body was... but it wasn't there. Is that right?
If I had to guess... and this is all it is... Casey wouldn't pick up a rotting Caylee. She would want to get someone else to do it for her. He gets paid from her one way for doing it, and then he collects the reward for finding her. This is just me throwing stuff at the wall, so if someone can adjust it to fit the facts that I don't know... please... jump in.
I find your theory alright Kinko. Casey is in fact known for being manipulative
She should get on the stand and beg for life something she denied little Caylee.
Casey hated her mother because she always critized her and take over the care of Caylee. Casey wanted to have an abortion, her mother said no. She wanted to give the child up for adoption her mother said no. Casey and her mother had one last fight, the last time Caylee was seen. Casey left with her that night and she was never seen alive again. Caseys motive for killing Caylee was to hurt her mother. I believe the prosocution made a big mistake when they did not bring the fight into evidence. I don't think she actually planned to kill Caylee it was a spur of the moment revenge kind of thing because she was made with her murder. I don't know if you all have heard that "Zanny the nanny" was actually Xanax that she would give her to sleep so she could go party. I think the xanax was getting expensive and difficult to get so she was looking for something cheaper when she was looking up chlorofoam. She has a anti-social personality and probably some other Mental Health issue. The defense would have done better to plead some type of insanity.
Casey is a Sociopath born that way not made contrary to what some believe and she needs to get on the stand and beg for life something she denied little Caylee
It's ok, George. I understand the hostility. The media didn't tell you it, so it can't happen. You just don't have the mental capacity to put infomation together to come up with what could have happened. You just waddle back over to the shallow pool where you belong.
I do NOT believe that she pre-meditated the murder of her child, and I don't think there's ANY evidence to fully support it. Remember, that's the case here, pre-meditated murder, not death by negligence.
I DO believe that she caused the unintentional death of her daughter, most likely by "putting her out" somehow and leaving the child in her trunk so she could party, during which time the child died. It's all very tragic, but I highly doubt she planned to kill her daughter. Negligence, yes. Pre-meditation, almost certainly not. The whole abuse thing is just a smoke screen. Bottom line, we'll never know for sure, and Casey will beat the death sentence and be in jail for the next 20-30 years.
No, zaxxon23, that is not correct. They can charge her with murder one under Florida statute 782.04(1)(A)(1) - the statute says that if a death occurs because of aggravated child abuse and/or neglect (among other things), a murder one charge can be filed. Under that statute, they do not have to prove she "intended" to kill Caylee. They can also find her guilty of Felony Murder - death occurs during the commission of a felony - like (ta da) aggravated child abuse and/or neglect.
@csh: You did read up on them - good! And now can educate the rest of the masses...:)
Hi Cal! Yes, I did! Thank you again for the info. I've been trying.....;).
Can you imagine Casey Anthony & Scott Peterson as married parents?OMG..
can you believe all the hate for the death of one child ...guess bush has been responsible for the death of a lot more ...but being a president makes him untouchable...poor casey should run for office...
@dano: Do you think Casey would eventually murder Scott, or do you think Scott would win that contest?
Please join me tonight in lighting a candle to remember little Caylee. It was three years ago today she died.
Zanny the Nanny- Xanax!?!?! OMG that is the most disturbing thing I have EVER heard! I have two small Children, one 2yrs old and one 4yrs old and I seriously felt ill reading that. I have heard the term before but I never in my wildest dreams even imagined someone would really do ...That...
I have been trying so hard to keep an open mind and actually wait for a verdict but the Irony of the "nanny's" name, and the phrase associated with her is just too much. As little as it may be anyone that has had any experience with a "party crowed" knows what a zanny is.
I cannot believe I hadn't put that one together ... Pre-kids I partied more than I should have But as all should, grew out of it just thinking of dance class and little league... How sad she never took to parenting- It's been my greatest adventure! That poor baby :( Anyone that could poison their own child needs an institution and sedatives. Can they test the remains to see if that truly was the case ... second thought I'd rather not know...
Terrible!!!!
From the article her attorney says it was;
"customary for people to have tattoos to remember a loved one who had passed."
Really? I thought it was customary to have a funeral and lay your loved one to rest in peace - not get a tattoo and dump the body in a swamp after hiding it for in your backyard/car for two months.
Another reason why there is no way the grandpa was involved is that as a cop, there was no way he would of let her daughter hang onto precious Caylee's body for all that time. More likely, he would of known how where to put her immediately so that no one would ever find her.
Kinda funny how she got the tatoo BEFORE she even considered reporting her child missing. Didn't the tatoo artist say that she told him that she would bring Caylee in with her when she came in for her next tatoo in a couple days? Kinda kills the whole "custom" idea, huh? Also shoots down the drowning thing, since she is saying that she was alive. Wait a minute... another lie? Which one are we to believe?!
Even IF, and that's a big IF, the little girl drowned in the parents' pool, that still doesn't explain the behavior of Casey in the aftermath. And waiting 31 days to report her missing? Casey didn't even do the reporting, her mother did. The wild goose chase she sent the cops on, the lies, lies, lies and the wild partying.......no matter what the cause of her death, Casey's actions are completely out of any realm of understanding.
This new witness, the convicted felon, who is supposedly going to tell how George Anthony called him 4 times, or whatever, a day or two before the child was reported missing, dosn't make sense. Why would the grandfather wait until just a couple days before to call this guy, supposedly I guess to ask how to get rid of the body. Wouldn't he have done that in the 30+ days prior. Gotten rid of the body, that is. And how would this guy have any knowledge of the neighborhood so as to suggest where he should bury the body. And how did the grandfather know this guy, or who hooked him up to him? Just so much of this whole thing is totally convoluted, I doubt the truth will never be revealed in its entirety. So many lies, no one can believe a thing anyone says.
I'm sorry, George Anthony is a VETERAN detective. I seriously doubt that he would need help figuring out how to get rid of a body. I also think that his vast experience would tell him to dump the body farther than a half mile from his house. If someone tried to convince me that George needed help concealing this crime, I would tell them that they are high!
Let's take a look at the con. Did George put him, one of his friends or family members away? How long is he in jail for? Do they have the phone records connecting George and the con? This lie is a little more substantial, so they better be careful how they tread.
Who cares if the technician's DNA was found on the duct tape? Are they actually disputing that the duct tape was around the skull (and head) of the little girl?! Or perhaps it was the technician who murdered her! Ah hah!
I doubt that after all the months the tape was exposed to the elements it would contain any useful DNA. This just shows me how much the defense is grasping at the smallest of straws to try to clutch onto ANYTHING that will help them.
I agree Kinko. George would know better.
And Bruce, also agree. Just because another technician's DNA was on the duct tape, it does not eliminate the validity of any other evidence found on it.
It's clear that the Defense has confused "reasonable" doubt with "any" doubt they can conjure up. Hopefully the Jury will see it for the smoke and mirrors game they are trying to pull off.
I think the issue of the tech's DNA was to show that the sample could be tainted and not show Casey's DNA OR that due to the elements, Casey's DNA would not still be on it. From the prosecutor's POV.
The judge made a short inquiry of Seubert, asking her what she was asked to test for by investigators. She had references in her notes that other investigators wanted to know if George and Lee Anthony were candidates for possible paternity testing, but that her lab wouldn't have conducted an actual statistical paternity test. Both Lee and George Anthony were later excluded by additional testing.
If George and Lee were both TESTED for paternity...doesn't that indicate they DID molest Casey?
Whats DNA have to do with the duct tape? The duct tape was found on the skull of the child....the rest of the case proves where and who placed it there!
Same tape found in garage in Anthonys home ( parents home where she lived with the child)...who placed it there with a sweet heart sticker..go figure!
If this doesn't work get ready for the alien abduction defense. Didn't Casey's father have weapons of mass destruction! Was Casey's father an alien? Did the Unibomber kidnap Caylee? Maybe O,J. Simpson can find the real killers.
So the defense chose the OJ Simpson strategy. "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." What is "it" this time?
Zanny the Nanny- Xanax!?!?!
I've wondered since I heard the name what sort of name it was. That wonder grew when it was uncovered that there never had been a nanny. What with the "win her over with chloroform" pic Casey's boyfriend posted online around the time Caylee disappeared, I'd say Zanny could indeed be Casey's 'pet name' for another way she'd been knocking Caylee out so she could go party.
Very interesting post THX. She was using Xanax to knock the child out so she could go clubbing. Probably gave her little body too much and accidentally OD'd the child. Very plausible but I would think at some time she would admit this accident or be advised by her lawyers to admit it and face a lesser charge of manslaughter. Unless she is lying to her lawyers like she has lied to everyone else.
I think the only thing the Defense can come up with is to go for a mis-trial. Why bring up possible paternity that has already been disproved?!? They don't have a case apparently....
The only thing the defense can do is make everything so confusing that the jury won't be sure of anything because they are trying to connect dots that have nothing to do with one another. Problem is that it is still a strand that the jury will need to untangle. If the jury misses one of these BS strands and looks at it seriously, things could take a turn for the worst.
All that is left to do is have grandma toss Caylee in the pool, or have her be the last one in the pool, so she is the one that left the ladder down. Maybe she was the one that dropped Caylee in the woods. I know, I know... her brother Lee held her as her mom drowned Caylee and her dad molested her. There we go... nice pretty package for her. Oh... I forgot the cable guy... Kronk... ummmm... ahhh, come on. I can only lie so well. I'm not Casey after all!!
"My dad, I mean my uncle no it's my brother that is Caylee's father." "The baby sitter stole her." "She drowned in my parents swimming pool." Such a lying sack of sh!t.
Her dad, uncle, brother "being" Caylee's father is no reason to kill the little girl. If that was the case why didn't she have an abortion or why didn't she put Caylee up for adoption when she was born. No she let her live two years and then killed her.
If the baby sitter stole her you'd go to the police and report it and the baby sitter would get arrested.
If she drowned in the back yard pool that is called an accident.
This chick is one sick human!
Stull, you forgot about the cable guy and now the technician that got his DNA on the tape... *sigh*
plainboob Bush has been gone for almost three years ,move on get a life you probably blame Bush for this too.
wlee;;;;our fine young men still die in iraq every day...been years at a unnecessary war....i wish they could have gone on with their lives... but everyone just hates casey for the death of one...are ya stupid..or what...
Yeah and Obama has done a fine job of getting them out ,so what, Bush is gone move on . Still on your mom's teat huh. Zanny the nanny's girlfriend wow that's pretty clever did you hear that in the sand box? In case you've had a case of amnesia the Iraq involvement was authorized by congress.
Really? Bush... Obama... you guys are on this board whining about those 2? I guess you have nothing constructive to add, so yap about what you do know... is that it? I know bob has a nickle head, but wlee, I thought you were above getting sucked into something like that.
Now... if you mentioned that you needed duct tape to shut Bob up... that might get you back on topic! :D
kronk called 911 3 times in august, on the 11th 12th and 13th but the police never went out there to check the area.
your theory on Kronk makes sence to me, about the same as i was getting at. she met him at one point, and by means unknown, he finds out. She wasnt working at the time however, so not sure where she would have got the $$, unless she used the checks she stole from her freinds to buy him stuff, rather than give $$. knowing her, sex could have even been the payoff.
However, seeing how he had made calls prior, with no results, my guess, he went looking for himself. eventually by the description of the area she gave him it took a while but he found it, and then made the call. Just my guess, but no other reasons i can think of outside of she gave up enough info, he had ideas.
As far as the lack of flies in her car... paper towels...she cleaned the car, or someone else did it for her. i have smelled bad trash before...dead animals, and yes a dead human, and there is a distinct difference in those smells, even if the garbage has meat in it. So, being the lack of flies then, however flies consistant with decomp of human remains, as a DA, my cross question would be, is it possible to have the lack of those flies if someone had taken the time to clean the car, and the trunk? i think we all know the answer to that one? also think there would be other questions relating to the lack of flies that would be sufficent as to bring more light on the subject, that would be a no brainer to shoot down the defence. If this guy doesnt cross with a few, he should be in a different line of work.
ya.... you can give me a class on that sometime, hows that?
I'll start now. Yes, you can give me a class on that sometime. How's that.
It's easy once you practice.
"I'll start now. Yes, you can give me a class on that sometime. How's that."
Should be:

OK, the, I got it the first time! I actually meant to hit the "?" not the "." My bad.
I don't know if you all have heard that "Zanny the nanny" was actually Xanax that she would give her to sleep so she could go party
This is just blog speculation that has become a widespread rumor. Xanax has never been mentioned in the trial. People need to stick to the facts, and call theories and speculations what they are!
Casey and her mother had one last fight, the last time Caylee was seen
I believe the prosocution made a big mistake when they did not bring the fight into evidence.
So, Interested-3614436, if the prosecution didn't bring it up, then who did? Where are you getting your info from? Of the fights that they had, when was this particular one mentioned? I don't find it on Bing.
I'll start now. Yes, you can give me a class on that sometime. How's that.
think i'll take the time to sleep in on these classes you are going to have. let me know when you make it to the "perfect" status, and i might change my mind.
gotta luv the rookie spelling/punctuation police.
If you are embarrassed, you can lock yourself in a little room and watch the complete "Schoolhouse Rock" collection and all will be made clear...
Mega, you don't have to change anything. You will just be understood better if you do.
Thes, you just really, really wanted to make sure I got the point? Actually, the vine was acting up yesterday and I double posted quite a few.
She has zero credibility after all the lies, etc. How can anyone believe what she says? Of course she will lie on the stand, she will lie to the very end, because she has convinced herself her version of what happened really did happen. Actions speak louder than words and by her actions, 'boozin, screwin and tattooin' while her child is 'missing' point to a guilty verdict to me. We are all not guillible idiots here. She should man up and just tell the truth, that would be true justice for Caylee. She should want to die for what she did. I don't buy the 'accidental death' theory. Too convenient and then where does the duct tape come in? Only she knows and she has to live with that, but does she even have a conscience? I think she has no soul whatsoever. RIP Caylee Marie. Angel's wings hold you now.
Wouldn't it be great if she got on the stand and blew everyone away including her defence and actually tell she really did to little Caylee. Won't happen, but, it would be great. Ultimately we probably will never know exactly what happened and why.
Rest in Peace, indeed Caylee. You have the distinction of being brought into the world fatherless and having a mother accused of killing you . Actually, we don't exactly know any of the details of your death (the when, how, or why). This is probably a case of God wanting you in heaven with Him. Heaven knows, there is little evidence of anyone on earth wanting you.
AZ Hockymom, I agree. I think we all would like to know what actually happened and why. But we'll never get that information from Casey, all she can ever do is lie.
What AZ Hockymom and Bertfw so you two and the rest of those that just have to see the blood at accidents can listen to a mother who killed her sweet little daughter tell about all the details of the crime so you can get off? As long as the jury makes the right decision, that is all that matters. God will be her judge and he already knows what happened.
uh t bill,
caylee was not brought into the world fatherless.
that would mean some sort of immaculate conception...
All we can do his hope that they have a good/intelligent jury. Most of us think she is guilty as hell but hopefully the jury will too.......
It would be satisfying to know exactly what happened. And isn't it interesting that, in fact, we don't? We know a child is dead. We know her skeleton was found. In terms of factual information about the case, that's about all we know.
It's alarming how many people are ready to see this woman die because she's a liar, because she wanted to party, etc. But the grandmother had an overweaning interest in the baby. I'm sure if Casey Anthony wanted to be rid of her maternal responsibilities, the grandmother would gladly have taken charge (which she seemed to do anyway).
After watching most of the trial, I've seen nothing that would legally justify the death penalty. There's no evidence regarding how she died, let alone whether her death was the product of premeditated homicide.
uh, do...
Caylee wasn't fatherless in the biological sense, but she sure was in a reality sense.
What is with you people that want her to walk because there is no "smoking gun"? Do you understand forensic science in the least? You realize that there was a DEAD BODY in Casey Anthony's car, right? Not bad pizza... not bad ground meat... a dead friggin' body! We know that Casey acted quite the opposite of how ANY mother would react if their 2 year old went missing, and in fact made up a story (which the Defense has admitted was BS) to explain why she was not worried and hadn't called the cops. While her daughter was missing, she got a tatoo that read "Beautiful Life".
How about one more fact that you missed. The Defense put the dead body of Caylee in Casey's arms. Forget about that little admission? Just remember, every lie has a nugget of truth in there somewhere. If this STILL doesn't give you pause, you are easily a defense attorney's dream juror. You will only convict with a smoking gun and all the puzzle pieces in place.
Right on, Kinko. Most murder cases have no "smoking gun." A great number of them are "circumstantial." Do any of things that followed Caylee's supposed drowning seem "reasonable" to reasonable people?? Not reporting her missing, dumping the body in the woods wrapped in trash bags, duct tape, lying to her family and friends about where Caylee was, etc.?? I don't think so.
Just because there is a dead body in Casey's trunk doesn't prove or disprove anything. If Caylee drowned in pool and her dad said get rid of body as defense claims of course she would place Caylee in trunk. Maybe she could not bring herself to dump Caylee's body until the odor got so bad??? Maybe she put duct tape over her mouth and nose because fluids escape from orifices after death and this upset Casey to see. Do I think this happened? Hell No!!! I think Casey murdered this little angel and should pay. I just hope the prosecution did enough.
Do us a favor and re-read your first sentence, Sharon. A dead body in her trunk doesn't prove anything? IT PROVES THERE WAS A CORPSE IN HER TRUNK!! Fine... put duct tape over nose and mouth for fluids. What about the eyes and ears?
Couldn't bring herself to dump her? That would entail REGRET... SADNESS. When did these emotions come out? While she was grinding on the other girl at the Hardbody competition... or how about when she was getting the "Beautiful Life" tat? Ya, that sounds like a mourning mother. She didn't get Caylee tatooed on her to remember her... nope.
Tell you what. All you Casey lovers out there... toss up the excuses, and us intelligent people will knock 'em outta the park. How's that sound?
@Kinkomaster
I understand forensic evidence rather well. I also understand the psychological aspect behind cases like this and unfortunately the forensics don't have anything conclusive. The behavioral evidence and the circumstantial evidence is strongest evidence that has been released to the public thus far.
You need to realize and understand that our criminal justice system doesn't rely on facts and truth. It DOES rely on reasonable doubt. Hence why civil suits tend to suceed where criminal suits fail, because the burden of proof is not the same.
Why is it so hard for people to accept that there was a dead body in Casey's car. The forensics prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. They have one of Caylee's hairs in there that show banding around the root, which means that she was dead... normal 2 year olds do NOT have banding around the roots of their hair. Put those 2 pieces together and you have a dead Caylee in Casey's car. I car that she abandoned once the smell of death became too strong for her. The simple fact that Caylee's dead body was in Casey's car for an extended period of time... it was never reported stolen... she has never claimed to let someone borrow it for an extended period of time (YET)... she must have known that her child's body was in the trunk.
I disagree. Facts and truth are EVERYTHING. If you present the facts and truth correctly, reasonable doubt can not be raised.
Let's look at her reasonable doubt, huh? First, she drowned in her parent's pool... fully dressed. Grandpa pulled her out and forced Casey to get rid of her because he molested her since she was 8. Then the cable guy took the body and then placed it in the woods.
Ok, what lunatic came up with this pathetic excuse? She drowned, but suddenly the cable guy gets involved... what? Pick a lie and stick with it.
This is what I DO know. The defense admits that Casey had Caylee's dead body for those 31 days that she was missing by saying that dad gave her the dead body out of the pool. That came DIRECTLY from the defense. In other words, they are conceding that Casey had her corpse the whole time. I'm not understanding everyone's problem of listening to the Defense's opening statement, getting past the BS of dad the molester and the drowning, and absorb the fact that they said that she HAD CAYLEE THE WHOLE TIME!!! Geez
As the mother of an almost 2 year old myself, I cannot understand how ANY mother can look at her innocent child everyday, accept the unconditional love that your child gives and then, when that child comes up "missing" not report it IMMEDIATELY! NO EXCUSE! Whether or not Casey actually did kill her little girl, she should be punished for allowing 30+ days to pass before telling anyone the child was missing. If she "didn't" do it, that baby could have possibly had a small chance of survival if her ignorant mother had reported her missing immediately. And if she DID kill Caylee, then she deserves nothing more than to have duct tape wrapped around her nose and mouth and be given the same chance that she gave that precious baby girl!! Unfortunately we will never truly know what happened because I guarantee Casey will not have the guts to tell the truth; only God knows and while he holds that precious angel close to his heart he will be the one to punish those who sent her to him so early.
I agree kinkomaster, this girl is guilty as sin.....I don't even believe little Caylee drowned in the pool. I believe this chick had little Caylee in the car drugged her with the chloroform so she could hang out without Caylee waking up, and when she returned little Caylee was dead....so she freaked out and put her in the trunk of the car so no one could see her, now she wondering what am i going to do....The lies begin, she put the duct tape on her to make it look like she was kidnapped, remember that was the story Zanny the Nanny took her.
nance, from what I read somewhere on one of these boards, Zanny is drug slang (used mostly by girls) for Zanex. That would mean that Zanny the Nanny was her drugging Caylee with Zanex... or at least that is how I would take it.
Kinkomaster Do you understand forensic science in the least? You realize that there was a DEAD BODY in Casey Anthony's car, right? Not bad pizza... not bad ground meat... a dead friggin' body!
I think the woman is guilty as hell, but let's talk forensic science. First the "body" was not found in her car. There was a piece of her hair which the prosecutors are trying to make the case that this signifies that her body was in there. In reality the hair could have been transferred from anyone's body who may have held Casey. Not to mention even the FBI witness stated they could not be absolutely certain it was even Caylee's hair. Truck smelling like a corpse to a couple of people doesn't mean it was a corpse in there. No hard evidence a corpse was carried in that trunk.
Behavior of an individual is not "hard evidence" that the individual committed murder. I have seen mother's far worse than this one and yes while their child was missing but ultimately found.
How about one more fact that you missed. The Defense put the dead body of Caylee in Casey's arms. Forget about that little admission?
Sure he said Caylee drowned, it was an accident and Casey reacted wrong. Again isn't proof she killed her, just proof she covered up the death of her child. Not enough to go to the electric chair on or for that fact found guilty of 1st degree murder.
Just remember, every lie has a nugget of truth in there somewhere. If this STILL doesn't give you pause, you are easily a defense attorney's dream juror. You will only convict with a smoking gun and all the puzzle pieces in place.
Your getting small pieces of information that the news publishes to sell papers. No one can really make an informed judgement without ALL the evidence. If you sit on a Jury such as this that is a death penalty case then you will feel really different about just convicting an individual because they lie or your gut feeling say's they had to do it because they lied so much. You're going to want hard evidence, not circumstantial evidence before you decide to put someone to death. It's quite different when your responsible for someones LIFE!!
Good points Kinko 2.9. And the "Reasonable Man Test" used in the court of law would take care of the swimming pool theory. As Dr G stated, 100% of the time people report drownings.
*sigh* clb, the swatches of the trunk carpet that were sent out were tested for the fluids and chemicals that a decomposing body excretes as it goes and the forensics picked up fluids that could only have been left by a corpse that was rotting there for at least a few days. I would consider this VERY HARD evidence of a body being in a trunk. I also think that the people that detected the scent of a corpse... one being a cadaver dog... also hold quite a bit of weight. It isn't like some 4 year old down the street smelled something "yucky".
Behavior is not hard evidence, but it does go to "state of mind", and her mind was NOT on her child. A suspect's mind and their actions are always taken into account when they are brought to trial. If behavior doesn't mean anything to you, would it mean anything to you if she would have had a party where she had a dead baby cake? (This is just a fore-instance... I'm not saying it happened.)
You don't get the whole cover up thing, do you? When getting her dad up on the stand backfires and it is evident that her story about the drowning is wrong... she is going to be left standing there with the second part of her excuse... hiding Caylee's dead body. Wait... do you believe if they disprove one part of their story, the whole story is done?
I'm not sitting in the jury box... you're right about that, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to be able to put together what happened. All you need to do is use a little logic and some common sense. Saying that there was no body in the trunk is just closing your eyes to a week of experts saying otherwise.
Casey is a Sociopath born that way not made contrary to what some believe and she needs to get on the stand and beg for life something she denied little Caylee
I can't see how Casey Anthony can avoid testifying in her own defense when she's levied such heady accusations about sexual abuse against her own father and brother. If the Defense had never "gone there", there would be a better chance of her getting an acquittal. Only the Prosecution is burdened with proving its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Baez did Casey no favors by lobbing that load of dynamite in front of the jury. He single handily wrecked his the defense when he decided it best to make categorical statements about the "real story", such that it is. Well, now he must prove his allegations are true & is further burdened with the likelihood that Casey Anthony will be compelled to testify when from his own lips, he admits she is a prolific liar. Baez et al have laid the perfect ground work for an appeal based on ineffective and/or incompetent counsel.
no kinkomaster, Zanex is what the press came up with - and keep in mind, Zenida (short for Zanny) didn't even know who Caylee Anthony was until it hit the press that they were looking for her. If there was any drugging going on it was definitely done by Casey or one of her men.........
Isnt there a way to test hair for prolonged drug use? If in fact Zanny the Nanny was actually Xanax?
@kinkomaster re-read the second sentence which gives theory as to why corpse was in trunk. Also before you call me a Casey lover re- read my last sentence, I absolutely do believe CASEY KILLED her daughter I'm just saying what some jurors might be thinking...Because ultimately NO ONE wants to believe that such evil exist, such selfishness exists, but it does and hopefully the jurors can see that. Selfish because rather than admitting to her mother yeah you know you're right I am not able to take care of my child here mom you raise her till I am able rather than admit she would rather kill this poor precious little girl.
The hair in the trunk has a "death band." Meaning it came from a corpse, not a living person. I've seen this type of evidence used on crime shows before; the death band is not new science either.
William - If you knew anything about me, you would know that I do not get off on this. I want justice for Caylee. You are more than welcome to click on my name if you want to know what it is that I am really after. And that is, Justice for Caylee and Remembering Caylee.
On that note, I am lighting a candle tonight to remember Caylee. It was three years ago she died.
RIP with the Angels Caylee..We Love you...
I have to add that the reason the FBI couldn't posively identify the hair as Caylee's is because the mitochondrial DNA test only proved it came from Caylee, Casey, or Casey's Mother Now remember that the banding only occurs from decomposition and remember that only one of the possibilities is indeed deceased. The hair was also not color treated and both Casey and her Mother have color treated hair.
While I don't agree with how Casey Anthony behaved after her daughter "disappeared", Casey's behavior isn't in question. It's whether or not Casey premeditated the murder of her daughter. That's it. She is on trial for First Degree Murder. It means that the Prosecution needs to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" that Casey PLANNED her daughter’s murder. Even if Caylee died by an accident and her mother new and never reported it and then went on partying, etc., it doesn't matter in terms of the First Degree Murder charge. As a juror, one is supposed to be objective and focus on the evidence. Partying and getting tattoos is not evidence of premeditated murder. There are many parents who put themselves first and kids second and go out and party, etc. That doesn't mean they want their kids dead or that they plan to kill them. The evidence of the duct tape doesn't prove a PLANNED death. It is possible that Casey got sick of listening to the child cry and put the duct tape over her mouth. There are many scenarios that could have occurred that caused the death of Caylee but may not have been premeditated. On a personal level I do think Casey killed her daughter but I really don't think (rationally based on evidence presented in the media) that there is enough to convince me (which is the Prosecutions job) that Casey PLANNED the murder.
Pompeii, behavior is a necessary component to ANY crime. Someone that robs an armored car for 3 million dollars and then suddenly starts spending money hand over fist... has committed a crime. It is very easy to check to see if they've become rich legally, but their behavior shows that they've committed a crime and are reaping the BENEFITS of it. It is the same thing here. Casey was reaping the benefits of being FREE of being a mother, so she went out partying and acting as if she was a single NON-mother.
As for the tape, it isn't like she used a small piece across her mouth... she wrapped it AROUND her head. How else would hair be stuck to it? I understand how you can see that it might not be premeditated, like if she was drugging her child to go partying and OD'ed her, but logically... she intended to drug her and her negligence killed her... so it was premeditated. If she knowingly put her daughter in a position to an accident that could kill her... it is premeditated. It would be like blind folding someone and standing them on the edge of a cliff. If they fall to their death, well, it wasn't your fault... they did it.
You have to understand... when it comes to evidence, there is no black and white... there is no smoking gun. Those cases are settled out of court. These cases... the ones filled with grey... the ones where it takes an intelligent person to put the pieces of evidence together to get the correct verdict, these are the ones where they will roll the bones on and see how they land. If they lose, they have appeals... way to many appeals!
@ Kinkomaster-I don't disagree with most of what you are saying. However, the issue or the crime for which she is being charged is "First Degree Murder". It is the Prosecution's job to prove that she PLANNED the murder. The law allows for different degrees of murder charges. First Degree murder is the PLANNED murder of someone. This is what needs to be proved in order for Casey to be found guilty of the charges. She isn't being charged with anything else. Now, that's not to say that she won't be found guilty of other charges. My point is that even if the child died accidentally and Casey knew and didn't report it and she went out partying, it doesn’t PROVE that she PLANNED the death of her daughter. Yes, she does reap benefits of being free of her parenting duties, but it does not prove First Degree Murder. As a juror, one's job is to decide "beyond a reasonable doubt" that the death was a PLANNED event by the person being accused. I don't think the Prosecution has proved "beyond a reasonable doubt”.
Does FL allow for "life without possibility of parole?" There was a post earlier outlining that many DP states don't allow for this alternative in sentencing...
Yes! Thankfully. From what I understand, in Florida, Life means LIFE. You don't ever get out except in a pine box. I hope that's accurate. And I hope that's what the judge decides in Ms. Anthony's case!
How did they ever find an 'impartial' jury for this case?
Pomp, she can also be convicted, in FL, of 1st degree murder if the child died during the commission of certain other crimes, INCLUDING aggravated child abuse.
I agree... I remember a news story of 2 fathers a couple years ago, who went hunting, leaving their small children (ages 1 and 18 months) in the car for 6 hours while hunting, came back and found both children dead from heat stroke. Both were sentenced to life w/out possibility of parole, solely based on child endangerment, neglect and abandonment!
If no defense had been offered and Casey stuck with her story about trying to look for the kid on her own, I would be with the "Acquittal Based on no Smoking Gun" people. In that scenario the only thing she would be guilty of is being stupid for not calling the cops. WIthout a smoking gun there isn't much we can do to poke holes in that excuse.
Her defense team is doing her a disservice by making up that story about Caylee drowning in the pool and her dad knowing about it. Wasn't her dad a cop? Wouldn't he know that the plan to dump the body and not tell anyone for a month would be so much worse than admitting they weren't watching Caylee closely enough? And what would be the point of the duct tape for a girl that drowned?
I'm in AZ too and unfortunately children drowning in pools here is not uncommon. I've never heard of a parent getting life or a death sentence for an accidental drowning. So that defense just doesn't make sense to me and removes reasonable doubt. Especially when we know about everything that happened after Caylee's death.
One of my fears is that there is a juror who "conned" his or her way on, but has every intention of being the wrench in the works by saying "not guiltly" no matter what is presented. Every one is looking for their 15 minutes of fame, and it wouldn't be the first time it happened.
Ooooo, csh, very Machiavellian of you!! I think we are more of kindred spirits than it is safe to say! :D
Lolly... oh, Lolly... you don't have a problem with her having a dead body in her trunk? Are you ok with that? You know that a rotting body smells nothing like a bag of garbage... unless you have a dead baby in the garbage.
Pomp, the tape wrapped ALL the way AROUND her head tells me that the tape was put on while she was alive. Why? You would only wrap it all the way around and connect it if you wanted to make it REALLY hard to undo. If all she wanted to do was put a little piece over her mouth, that wouldn't have caught her hair in it, but wrapping it around her head... her hair with it... tells me that the tape wasn't coming off again. It also tells me that it was premeditated. It is little things like that which should make this an easy call for every one, but this stupid need for "hard evidence" is just killing me. The evidence that was presented should easily be enuff to convince a rational person.
Kinko, just because that evidence was allowed in trial it doesn't prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt. Neither do the traces of chloroform. Neither of those is a smoking gun, despite the questions it raises. The crappy excuses the defense has given is the prosecution's saving grace because it is so unbelievable that a smoking gun (which by definition is "Something that serves as indisputable evidence or proof, especially of a crime") may not be needed in order to convince a jury that Caylee's death was no accident. That was my only point.
Expert opinions on the smell of garbage vs a rotting body are just that - opinions. My feelings of whether or not it's "okay" is irrelevent. You're letting your emotions play too much into this. I am looking at it from a juror's expected point of view.
Lolly, I have only this to say regarding your comment on the smell of decomp vs. rotting garbage. In 2001, I was one of several million New York residents commuting to and from work on the subway every day. After September 11th, the smell in that subway was absolutely hideous. Keeping in mind that many subway tunnels and platforms always have a hint of rotten garbage smell about them, I can tell you that experienceing the smell of decomposition, multiplied by nearly 3,000 bodies, was one thing I will never, ever forget for the rest of my life. You cannot compare the two. Ask anyone who has had that stench in their nostrils and they will say the same. Any sanitation worker can tell them apart. And you don't believe experts. I wonder why.
Lolly. Your statement about the odor of decomp being opinion is a bit of in that ANY smell could therefore be categorized as being "opinion based". When you smell any scent, let's say a rose or vanilla scent, and it is identified as such to you, thereafter it will be identified as that by you whenever you smell it. It is the same with colors, tastes, sounds, etc... The human mind will process any of those sensory inputs the way you smell, see, taste or hear it based on what you have been taught it represents. So your point is invalid as to how these individuals are just offering an opinion about this being a smell of decomposition especially those who have been trained to collect evidence for such things.
By the way, once you smell human decomposition just one time, you will never be able to forget that scent. It is very distinctive and does not smell like rotting pizza, garbage, etc...
Hi Cali....didn't see your comment when I started mine (got distracted...have the HLN Dr. Drew show on about the case). Great minds think alike. ;)
Cali and Amsd, such good posts. Cali, NY after 9/11 was horrible - and you are right, it's a stench you never forget.
The defense hasn`t provided any reasonable doubt. The defense has presented a lot of unreasonable doubt, they would have presented just as much unreasonable doubt if they had said space aliens killed the child and are trying to frame the mother for the murder.
Is it reasonable to assume that an innocent person would lie to the police and obstruct an investigation into their activities? Is it reasonable to assume that a guilty person would lie to the police and obstruct an investigation into their activities?
The defenses opening statements are not to be taken as evidence or truth until they can produce evidence to prove their statements. without evidence the statements are just fantasy designed to cast unreasonable doubt.
I agree that they have not provided "reasonable" doubts...just a lot of crazy stories. I have been too busy to follow much for the last few days, but that autopsy testimony by the old guy was ridiculous...not opening the cranial vault of a skull that had no soft tissue on it where the inside could be seen told him the first autopsy was "shoddy"?!!!! As did that "nothing else was opened", really? What else was there to open?
I really hope she does take the stand. However, I don't think she will be believable. But, if she doesn't take the stand, they everything the defense is saying is all here-say and speculation.
If she can turn on the tears, then taking the stand will work in her favor. Remember the Mendez Brothers? After it was revealed they lied about "intruders" and they had killed their parents with a shotgun for the inheritance money they got all weepy on the stand about missing their parents "so much". The jury deadlocked the first time around with the majority wanting to acquit because they felt sorry for the "poor orphan boys".
Never underestimate the average juror to be easily manipulated by emotions.
The same could be said for the prosecution Hockeymom- it's all been here-say and speculation, the tattoo artist was the worst! They have no physical evidence, NONE. If I was on the jury right now I don't think I could convict her, reasonable doubt still exists for me and I've been watching this from the very beginning.
I said the same thing about Scott Peterson too, I still don't think he's guilty, I think he's an a**hole but I don't think he killed Lacey. The only physical evidence they had was a hair in the boat, heck my husband gets my hair on him all the time, if they found one in his humvee would that make him guilty?
Well you you can be one of the very few who go visits her and tell her how innocent she is, while the rest of us applaud the justice system. And oh, by the way, go find a 2 year old and hug them, then imagine them missing for 31 days and the mother not notifying anyone, then get back with your ignorant theories!
Eldubb-2749760,
I don't understand why you would say they were "ignorant theories." If you've been watching the trial, surely you see that there's absolutely no hard evidence connecting Casey Anthony to her child's death. Do we all believe she was in some way involved? Absolutely!! But the blessing of our legal system is that people have to be proved guilty. That hasn't been done in this case. The downside of our legal system is that sometimes a guilty person walks free. But, still, it's a pretty good system.
Let me get this right, Wife4ID, all I would have to do is make sure that there was no body and I could count on you for an innocent verdict? Really? That's all it takes? Do you know how many mob hitmen would never have been convicted? What you want is the smoking gun, and you aren't going to get it with this case... no matter what. That means you need to use common sense and to put the pieces that you do have together to come up with a good judgement.
Let me give you a little perspective for your "reasonable doubt". The Defense... not the Prosecution... put the dead body of Caylee in Casey's arms after she drowned. Since the smell of decomposition was in Casey's car, that verifies the fact that she had a body, and since the Defense said that she had Caylee... there ya go. It would also mean that Casey put her in the garbage bag and put the tape around her head.
What about George? Well, he is an EXPERIENCED detective. His first reaction to any event dealing with life and death is calling for back up... NOT to cover it up. Let's play with the idea that he wanted to hide this for some warped reason. I believe that a seasoned detective would know how to effectively make a body... especially a little girl's body... disappear. I seriously doubt he would dump it a half mile from his house.
I understand you might have your doubts because there are a couple pieces missing, but the Defense was dumb enuff to give those pieces to you. You're big worry was connecting the 2, right? Well, I just did it for you. I have no physical evidence, but I do have the word of the DEFENSE to do it. Still letting her go?
All of you are stupid. Casey's father is the father of Caylee. End of story. The glove does not fit......Yeah right.....
Markus, really? Do you think so? Don't you think "dad" would have tried to save his daughter/ granddaughter a little harder than scooping her out of the pool and handing her to Casey? In other words, you believe the story of a proven liar. Look who the real pinhead is... pinhead.
Well, Markus - the DNA testing says otherwise. NOT George, NOT Lee and NOT Jesse G.
Markus @3.8. It has been stated OVER AND OVER AGAIN that Lee and George were DNA tested by FBI. They are NOT Caylee's father. And, again, why is there even a question? Because once again, Casey has LIED about that, too.
If she gets on stand, the State will tear her apart!
If Casey takes the stand, it would be a piece of cake to mix up her stories on her and use a simple timeline to break her down. I wonder how long it will take her to "get sick" during cross.
But the jury has been there, watching CA in the courtroom, day after day. Hopefully they are all intelligent enough to know that she can really but on an act when she feels it is to her benefit. No amount of tears she may be able to shed should make a differnce at this point, IMO
From what I understand, the jury barely pays any attention to her. It seems that we are the ones keeping an eye on her. The jury is actually keeping their focus on the evidence. It does give me a spark of hope that this jury will actually be able to put things together and not demand this smoking gun that a few on here seem to want.
If her attorney is a good defense attorney he will never put her on the stand.
Did the ..."yeah right" confuse you? Or do you think calling me a "pinhead" is your way of dealing with sarcasm. Did you also have an opinion on what the OJ jury paid attention to or did you just "understand" that they didn't pay attention to any of the evidence?
Well... pinhead... calling everyone stupid is a great way to start off a bit on sarcasm. It goes to show that you actually are a pinhead by thinking that the jury were to blame for the OJ circus. Between an incompetent prosecution and a grand standing judge, Johnny C. only had to stand around and let them make his case for him. He only had to drive points home or jump on things that Marsha Clark missed. The jury is tasked with deciding on the evidence, and if the prosecution doesn't give it to them... they can't use it!
Tell me, pinhead... do you pop off and say something stupid and when everyone piles on, you turn around and say that you were being "sarcastic". I'll give you a little sarcasism... you're a witty guy, pinhead.
I am sorry. Did I blame the whole OJ thing on the jury. Sorry.. I should have said that.
Well, you did bring them up and you did infer that they didn't listen to the evidence. Hey, I just work with what I get...
Did they ever get any psychological background, officially, on Casey Anthony? If it has been done, it wasn't favorable and they trashed it. If it hasn't been done then the defense has had some expert tell them what their opinion was and they were advised to NOT get one so it couldn't be used against her. She is a sociopath. It's possible that Casey was so drugged up or drunk herself that she forgot her dead child was in her trunk and when it started to smell is when she remembered. Sad, but possible, and still no excuse.
Maybe they need to charge the cable guy "after the fact" and see what comes out of his mouth then.
I wonder what made her choose to have the baby, besides her mother? Or keep the baby? She was of legal age to have an abortion or give up the child. Perhaps she wanted her mother's approval? There are varying degrees of psychological illness. She's more like Susan Smith who killed her toddlers by sending her car into a river and lied saying they were hijacked, not like Andrea Yates with severe mental illness who drowned her children due to depression but admitted what she did. Casey was worse. There are so many people who could and would adopt a 2 yr old but her mother's approval would have been lost forever. I think the psychology of the whole case rests between Casey and her mother. Caylee was just a pawn... sadly.
The molestation charge was pretty convenient but despite the history, the fact remains that Caylee's dead and Casey knew it and failed to report anything. It doesn't matter that she lied about a kidnapping or a drowning. Those are all just detours to the real road to Caylee's death. Once those lies are sifted out, you are left with Caylee's death and she knew it or caused it. Either way, according to clb's quote of the Florida's law, she is guilty. Just because she may not be found guilty of capital murder, she could be found guilty of a lesser crime like murder 2, couldn't she? I think I've seen that before.
Please join me tonight in lighting a candle to remember little Caylee. It was three years ago today she died.
They have psych evals on Casey, however, it is my understanding that the defense has taken a pass on putting them on the stand. Not sure why the prosecution didn't use them - maybe in their rebuttal case?
You know why the defense hasn't pulled the psych profiles out. They wanna save those for the appeal. They can change the defense to an insanity plea and point to the compulsive lying, videos of her in the courtroom scowling and then crying, and just general anti-social behavior. It isn't a bad idea, since it will keep her out of the chair and maximum security in one fell swoop. Hmmmm... I never really thought about it. That is actually a real nice play from a losing stand point.
The Defense actually had two evaluations done and scrapped them both. Curiously those two experts are now on the list of witnesses for the Prosecution. They Defense never claimed any mental illness defense and obviously bit off more than they bargained for with the evaluations
See, another chippie to add to the collection!
The Defense actually had a highly experienced DP qualified lawyer - Terrence Lenamon - who walked away from the Defense team because he wholeheartedly disagreed with the direction Bozo was going in.
Terrence specializes in mental disorders to explain/mitigate those he defends. Bozo didn't want to go for mental defect and so he didn't.
There's been multiple DP qualified attorneys walk on this case and most cite Bozo as the reason why.
What was little Caylee doing three years ago to the date, June 15, 2008? That day was Fathers Day. She was reading a book, singing, cuddling with her great grandpa...
We love you little Caylee....
Do you think Casey was reflecting today-the 15th on what she was doing 3 years ago?
I wish I knew.
What mother goes out to party and have fun when your daughter is missing? She sits in the Court room and smiles. Who would smile when your daughter is dead and your could follow her with a death verdict. She has evil eyes. I do not believe anything that comes out of her mouth. How could anyone sit there and smile day after day, a cold blooded killer can. I hope there is justice for Caylee. She was a beautiful little girl. If she didn't want to raise her, why not let her parents raise her?
Casey's parents are just as F-d up as she is. Adoption would have been Caylee's only real hope.
Her party friends said she was going to get another tattoo for the right side shoulder.
Left side with "Bella Vita" and right side with "Vivere senza rimipianti"
My opinion..she is GUILTY 110%
I am confused. The best translation that I can find is: Beautiful Life" "Living without rimipianti.
"Living without rimipianti" what does that mean? Living without worries, perhaps.
From a google search I got this.
Vivere Senza Rimipianti" loosely translates "To live without regrets" in Italian.
Who did she steal the money from to get the tattoo again?
George said "All of you are stupid. Casey's father is the father of Caylee. End of story. The glove does not fit......Yeah right...."
George, since DNA testing ruled out George Anthony as Caylee's father, what do you base this "fact" on.?
The defense promised in its opening that it will explain how Anthony, since the age of eight, was sexually molested by her father, George Anthony, and that his "power over her" led her to follow his lead to "cover up" Caylee's death.
This ought to be good.
I think that story easily qualifies as emotional jury manipulation. Incest is a HUGE issue in central Florida.
Everyone awaits with bated breath! Now it's Baez's turn to spin a horrid web of lies. Baez + Casey = a marriage made in hell! They're made for each other!
Incest is a HUGE issue in central Florida. ---
I had no idea! that is horrible. EKkkk!
myfivecents...Evie post was 6.3...read post 6.1...just two above ( thats your answer)!
I said that. I learned about it when I used to live there. Actually, it would be more accurate to have said incest is a huge issue everywhere. It isn't something people discuss openly, but it's definitely there, ad it's an issue to which people have VERY STRONG emotional reactions, which can, in some cases, cloud "better judgement." IN fact, MOST cases of sex abuse toward children are perpetrated by family members, ie, incestuous.
I hope I haven't offended someone with blind FL love... It could also be said about most places.
diatribe. You have stated the truth. Most people are ignorant as to how bad this screws people up.
Also, it is ubiquitous. You could almost sub "incest" into Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" intro the same way South Park did "Manbearpig." Unfortunate does not even come close. It is my understanding that isolated populations have higher incest statistics. I learned this from a genetics guy I dated for a while who had done field work on Indian Reservations.
Wow now you've insulted Floridians and American Indians, anyone else on your list?
How is that insulting? That there are universal human issues that apply moreso to isolate areas? You are really reaching here. Context is key.
Does it make you feel better if my mother is an incest survivor and my father is a Native American? Get a grip, man!
If you don't know why it's insulting explaining it to you wouldn't help. Sorry to hear about your mother ,but one incident does not equate to all Indians, just as one mentally ill women who kills her daughter does not equate to all mentally ill women killing their daughters
The logic is flawed just as you point out wlee. While it may be true that intermarriage/interbreeding with close relatives occurs in small groups, especially in those groups who are geographically isolated, the knowledge that it has deleterious effects has been around for a very long time. To make the statement that incest is rampant, seeming to forget the way that term is regarded today, as both cultural taboo and illegal act, is irresponsible.
Those examples were hypothetical.
The attitude that taboo subject matter be forever contained within occult, unmentionable shadows is exactly what perpetuates things like incest, child abuse, domestic violence, alcoholism... WTF?
Insulting? I think not.
BTW: The original comment was regarding why the defense would suddenly come out with an incest story... To manipulate the emotions of the jury. Like I said, context is key. Though I could have worded my initial statement better, I think the statement, "Actually, it would be more accurate to have said, 'incest is a huge issue everywhere,' was clarification enough...
Ben Franklin said that we are truly wise when we understand we are also ignorant.
diatribe,
You made a blanket statement targeting a specific segment of a population based on solely on locale which shows your ignorance. Your further attempts to clarify your meaning were no better. You equate interbreeding between individuals who are genetically similar, based on familial connections, due to geographic isolation during a time when such social and legal taboos did not exist, with incest. (There was a time when such interbreeding as that which you used to explain your initial thoughtless statement, was not taboo. Look at the royal families of Europe up until the last two centuries for an example of the results of interbreeding the dawning of the understanding of what too closely related marriage/breeding partners can create). Incest is a term that has a different meaning from the explanation you offered ( wasn't it something some you date told you, a person who studied genetics, if I am not mistaken?).
The term, incest, has a connotation of an unequal balance of power and a subsequent sexual relationship between two closely related individuals. Interbreeding, as in the context of your secondary explanation, is based on the geographic isolation theory as the cause of mating between individuals of similar genetic profiles. One is taboo while the other is a hypothesis to explain the evolutionary process for certain characteristics to be found as contained within certain groups, a theory for which some evidence exists to support its validity.
I am not from central Florida though I do live in or near that region depending on the definition of "central" so I am not a member of the group about which you made your off-hand comment. Look at your Franklin quote again and see how it applies to you...you apparently do not understand the degree of your own ignorance in this situation.
No need. Ignorance applies to me, like anyone else. Thank you for the clear explanation of terms.
I can see how my comment was offensive. My intention was indeed otherwise. I'll try to remember to think before typing.
Sorry to have confabulated two totally unrelated issues...
I am sure you did not intend to give offense (just as I didn't mean to type so poorly in my response...) ;)
Pathological liar --- I doubt her defense team would take the chance of putting her on the stand.
They'll rest their case without calling too many witnesses and hope that the jury is as dumb as the OJ jury. I highly doubt it though and she'll probably be convicted.
Only certain demographic areas can produce a jury as stupid as the OJ jury.
How are you going to come up with thinly veiled classist, racist commentary in this case? These are middle of the middle class suburban white folks. PS- just as many f-d up issues as anybody else... The vast majority of people are relatively ignorant and isolated and easily led.
That being said, if she takes the stand it is her best chance of a commuted sentence. I am 100% against the death penalty. As a side note, it is rare for cases decided on circumstantial evidence to garner a death sentence (exc. in TX). i've often wondered if this is because they are more likely to achieve leniency upon appeal...
It is also the best chance for the prosecution to secure a conviction, as their case has been largely circumstantial thus far. While they have made it clear this little girl was murdered it is definitely not clear by whom or how.
This is for @Jeanette......Wonder how the 2 white jurors on the OJ trial voted? More than likely as the 9 blacks and 1 hispanic did. The prosecutors were to blame, not the jurors. The jurors are admonished to stick to the letter of the law and not their own personal feelings. The prosecutors allowed Mark Furman (a stout racist) to play an integral part of their case. The guy who found (planted) the glove and spotted a small droplet of blood from beyond the front gate on the car by the door handle. The sock was also compromised, they found coagulated blood on it, which meant it came from one of the tubes held in evidence. Which means it was deliberatedly put on the sock. The racist Furman choked a black guy in a predomantly white neighborhood for jaywalking. While being interviewed he used the N-word 41 times. He had made a statement to referring to planting evidence or doing whatever he could to put minorities away. When he took the stand, he also took the 5th, as advised by his lawyer. So his work in the case was thrown out. He had already tarnished the case. As far as demograhics go Jeanette, remember Rodney King. The 4 cowardly police who beat him in LA. It was a predomantly black and hispanic part of LA. The officers requested a change of venue. So guess what, they got 12 white jurors who found them not guilty! President Bush said that the 4 officers involved in the beating did not deserve to wear the uniforms of the LAPD! But one of the white jurors was interviewed saying "Rodney deserved it!" You have the President of the USA saying it was a travesty and one idiot condoning it! So please don't give me that demographic racist crap. As if blacks and hispanics are not as intelligent as whites. Please tell me how intelligent are the 12 white jurors who found the 4 racist police officers not guilty in the King beating? 12 supposedly intelligent white people looked at a tape, where a man is on the ground being beat for 81 seconds, and find the perpetrators innocent, so rest the OJ crap! So Diatribe, I agree with you, that its classless, and people need to move on. 2 cokeheads were slain, this is an innocent 2 year old baby. No comparison. Imagine if it was 2 crackheads from the Bronx slain in the OJ case, not one cry of outrage from these people. But back to you Diatribe, you mentioned the little girl was murdered, but by whom? Well I'll put it like this, the whom may be very well linked to the woman that never reported the little girl missing. Just saying, that may be a start!
It wasn't so much that the jury was dumb. It was the fact that evidence was planted and much more, which leads to reasonable doubt if not an dismissal over technicalaties.
What was so bad about the OJ trial was the fact that after what, 8 months of testimony, the jury came back after less than four hours to acquit. There had to be somethng behind that...I just can't see how the jury could take that much testimony and come back in less than four hours with a verdict.
Rumor (yes it was rumor) at the time was that the public officials were afraid of a major riot in LA if Simpson was convicted and the jurors were, steered, towards an acquittal to avoid others being hurt or killed.
Please join me tonight in lighting a candle to remember little Caylee. It was three years ago today she died.
I guess I should have added "why" to the who, how query... It is pretty clear CA killed her daughter. The "whys" in this case are less clear. One can say, "She's a sociopath, that's why..." but really, you have to admit, that is a cop-out. I haven't seen anything that suggests premeditation, except in the most oblique way. It appears to be stupidity (rampant, if y'all hadn't noticed) that turned tragic. Being a compulsive liar is probably indicative of an ill mental state; Further than mere stupidity.
But, Eldubb, you are absolutely correct in your assessment of 2 white cokeheads vs. 2 black crackheads... Spot on.
Furthermore, Jeanette, the LAPD is beyond notorious for evidence tampering/manufacturing. Maybe read a book. Here's one: Phillip H. Melanson, "The Robert F. Kennedy Assassination: New Revelations on the Conspiracy and Cover Up.
Sorry but saying the jury for OJ could only be found in California is not offensive in the least. They confused reasonable doubt with any doubt, resulting in his acquittal. Anyone that can think that OJ was set-up and the whole thing was a frame-job is delusional to say the very least.
Eldubb, if as you say Furman was known for planting evidence ,why wasn't he ever charged. Your accusations are baseless and not based on facts a blind person could see OJ did it,as far as who killed Caylee are you serious?
Eldubb: "Two white cokeheads"? Nothing was ever said about Ron Goldman being a cokehead. He was returning a pair of glasses as a favor, on his own time, and got murdered. Nicole Brown was probably another story, but I find your description of Mr. Goldman to be uncalled for.
She needs to go on the stand to save herself, however, she won't be successful. Nobody believes anything she says, because she is obviously a sociopath and a pathological liar. I am sure the jury will put her away for life, not sure about death penalty. It is hard for a jury to give a young, attractive girl the death penalty, but we shall see! I have never seen anybody more guily than this woman. Poor Caylie didn't have a chance.
I don't think her age, and her looks will save her. Everything she has said and done has been to protect herself. She is selfish, and not the most brightest of people. I believe the prosecution has a great case and has lead every one to believe that she in fact killed her daughter in cold blood. Just to live a life free of obligation and responsibility. I think she will get what she deserves, which is a needle full of poison!
I don't think she is at all attractive. Gnome ears, greasy hair, moles all over, and a pasty horse face.
Jeanette..................You are sooooo right about the OJ jury....I hope they sleep well at night knowing they let a murderer walk free
Jeande: OJ isn't walking free any longer....he's been in jail for several years for trying to steal back his own stuff. Karma has a way of biting you in the butt....believe me. He's been denied probation twice already. So, he ended up getting punished anyway!
Yes, her looks and smiles may serve her here in the real world. Not in a court of law sool, I think.
Looks and smile really? I am a woman and her looks do nothing for me, if anything it would make me not like her.
The only thing her looks will ensure is that she will be in high demand as someone's bitch in prison. Although the "attention" she will more than likely receive is going to be a lot harsher than she might have planned.
@myfivecents
That would imply that Casey is attractive. In her photos, she was pretty, but not knockout. Now, she reminds of an imp--literally. Pointed ears, long face and lips that seem to stick out too far. Anyone remember the movie, 'The Dark Crystal'? She reminds me of that, but not as pretty.
is it just me or does everyone see the girl in the back row, with glasses sleeping !! Her head keeps nodding. Wow !! she is lucky she got a seat and sleeping !! She is distracting me :)
Probably one of the many of the droves of homeless in downtown Orlando who was smart enough and lucky enough to get a seat inside.
She's probably on drugs if she can't keep awake during THIS case!
if baez does put on a defense case it will set a new low for defense attorneys. there is no way he will convince a jury of his claim of george anthony being involved in the ''cover up'' of the claimed drowning. if nothing else is clear it is obvious that george anthony would not have been involved in throwing his grand daughter in a field to rot or be eaten by bugs and wild animals. nothing about the defense opening statement is believable and is an insult to the jury.
if she takes the stand, she is "cooked" as in death penalty. maybe already so. not taking the stand is a silent admission of guilt, she is "cooked" again. She is the only person who knows all of the details of Caylie's death. Now is the time for a heavy dose of truth serum, get the facts, however method.
romy, not taking stand is NOT admission of guilt. People cannot be made to testify against themself.
I think the defense is doing all this on purpose, because it is such a lost cause, he has nothing to lose. By making gaffes and ridiculous moves and accusations against others (i.e., the father and brother), he is ensuring that his client will get to appeal her conviction for decades--or even get a new trial. Anthony's attorney cannot be as stupid as he is making himself out to be--believing that load of crap he shoveled out in the opening statement. Anything he does now in defense of his client will be to just try to keep her alive as long as he can--look at Charles Manson and others--who lived decades on "death row" and then never were put to death. This is the best he can hope for.
I know he has to be doing this stuff on purpose. If he is saying that she drowned and Casey's dad disposed of the body, how come he is calling the new witness who has a history of kidnapping (I think it is the guy who found the remains)? Is Baez going to say "she drowned, grandpa buried her, then whositz dug her up and kidnapped her remains, then put them back..." And why is he fighting all the forensic evidence when he could just say "of course there was human decomposition in the trunk - that is where grandpa kept her before he disposed of her"? None of it makes any sense.
She will never see another day of freedom whether she takes the stand or not.
It would be a mistake by the defense to allow her to take the stand. But I would love to see her be mauled by the prosecution.
If this woman is found guilty, she should be the first one in long time to have to be put on a gallow for the public to view! Public hangings should be put back into law for people like this and the crooked bankers and CEOs.
For the jury to actually get a glimpse of the "real" Casey and hear responses from her would be beneficial in jury deliberation. The real story here is the cruel death of this little girl. Justice for Caylee is how this story should end.
The more unreasonable the story sounds the more likely that it is a lie. The jury will have a very difficult time sorting it all out. It seems as if everyone that will take the stand in this case will be a liar.
Don't under estimate your fellow man. NO! the LIAR! is her....................................................................................................
Ms. Anthony is all 'tears' for the jury and once the jury is out she's batting the flirty eyes at her attorney. It is obvious that her goal is to play the jury...yet she forgets that the rest of the world is watching.
Put her on the stand and show the jury what she's really like.
If she doesn't take the stand that will make her look even more guilty then she already is...
Meter man did it.He did the day he checked Anthony's meter, had duct tape in his van.
uhuh...and before he did that, he hid her body in Casey's car for a few days.
Then he sprayed the trunk of Casey's car with Febreeze Stench 'o Death. Between you and me I think we have this case wrapped up.
And then took Caylee back out of the trunk and hid her body.
It's just absurd to me that Kronk would have anything to do with Caylees body other than finding her.
Why did 5 months pass from the time Kronk first reported finding the body and authorities actually finding the body? I know that Casey lies but something is amiss regarding the recovery of Caylee's body.
The difficulty with the Kronk story is the 30 + days that Casey said Caylee was with the 'nanny'. She would have alerted the world if she didn't have anything to do with her daughter's disappearance.
If I remember correctly, the first time that Kronk called it in, she wasn't seen and then there were snakes and they left the area. That was a missed opportunity to recover Caylee at that time. Then a Tropical Storm came in and caused flooding. Equisearch was going to search there but the area was too flooded and they didn't want to accidentally disturb her body and therefore they were not able to get back there and search. Also, Kronk was routed to another area. When his route changed back to that area, He went back there in the area he had seen Caylee before and that is when his supervisor called 911.
If I found a body, I can assure you that I would stand there with it until someone from the authorities arrived. Snakes or no snakes. I can't get past this body recovery issue.
Agreed, to a point. It's a little wierd that Kronk found Caylee after call 911 previously.
I disagree with this theory in its entirety. The way I see it, if someone else did it, there is no way that Casey would make up a story about Caylee drowning in the pool...because then she's still admitting to her own involvement in covering it up for months. If she were not involved in Caylee's disappearance at all, there is no way that she would take ANY of the responsibility on herself. She's a liar for sure, but, more than that, she's selfish and self-absorbed...she was definitely involved in Caylee's disappearance, or she would be denying having any knowledge re what happened whatsoever. Now, whether it's murder or an accident that she tried to cover up, that's up to the jury to decide...but I find the accidental drowning story to be quite unbelievable.
Absolutely the meter man. Casey was just out partying and never noticed that her daughter was missing for about a month. Was the meter man checking Casey's meters. or....If George was molesting Casey years ago he definitely did it. Maybe that evil brother. Or Baez, he seems like the kind of guy of who would defend anyone. Or maybe Caylee committed suicide and put herself in the bag. It just can not be Casey. Did anyone look for Zanny in the swamp next to Caylee? Come on it just can't be Casey.
I am sorry but this should only be about Caylee.God please rest her little soul .Casey should be put away and just end the nonsense. How many people lose their children for over an hour and don't go nuts. Over a month? Put Casey to sleep, just for that.
She was in the habit of drugging her daughter so she could go out and party -- oops, used too much chloroform! Decided what the hell, I'll make sure of the job & ditch her in the woods. I can't decide what apalls me more -- such evil cold-hearted behaviour or the monumental stupidity thinking she could get away with it.
I know what would apall me the MOST -- that anyone on the jury could possibly buy any of the defence twaddle.
I agree with you!!!! I've said all along she would not get death 1. she's white, 2. she's young 3. some think she pretty and as shallow as it sounds it will prevent her from getting the needle and it will allow her parents to visit her if she ever agrees to see them. My hope is they give her life with no chance of parole.
Ava, whether she gets the death penalty is determined by what level of murder they find her guilty of. I doubt she will get 1st degree murder, given the circumstances. She will get 2nd or 3rd degree which normally are not punishable with death. She will get manslaughter, worst case scenario.
Rod - The only murder charge on the table is 1st degree. They cannot find her guilty of a charge that has not been filed. There are 7 charges against her, but none of them are 2nd or 3rd degree murder.
Check out MyOrangeClerk.com under "Look up cases.." for a list of the charges against Ms. Anthony.
Casey wanted to put this child up for Adoption from the beginning. Mom refused and wouldn't let her do it. That alone tells me she did not want to be a Mom. You can't force anyone to be a Mom if they don't want to. Cindy should have Adopted her at birth. This is the result of a Mother forcing her daughter to do something she didn't want to do in the firswt place. So this lettle girl is dead because her Mother wanted to do her own thing. Grandma Cindy now should realize you can't make a daughter over 18 listen to you anymore. Sad for Caylee. God will take care of her.
Those charges are part of this case, also, NanaX2. Those are all of the charges the jury will be considering once their deliberations start.
Sue from Alaska, I agree with you about Cindy wanting Casey to keep Caylee. I think she hoped that having to care for a little one would force Casey to grow up and be more responsible and less of a party girl. Unfortunately, it backfired and Caylee suffered and died because of that.

I think if they DON'T though it's a practical admission of guilt because they know she'll blow her B.S. defense under cross-examination.
