This is one of the biggest reasons why I do not approve of any tax increases at this time. If this is where the extra "revenue" goes, screw them.

At a time when legislators are talking seriously about cutting Medicare and Medicaid to American citizens, and phasing out Social Security to citizens who have paid into it throughout their working years, they have the nerve to continue to funnel money to Pakistan and other foreign countries who merely see us as a money tree....

There SHOULD be major spending cuts in the federal budget, but we need to start with foreign aid and all the BS administrative costs of gov't, which do nothing more than line the pockets of those who least deserve it.

One major problem with the USA budget is the paying off of many countries for one political reason or the other. Here..the republicans want to cut spending on our own citizens while sending millions more into other countries for political purposes only. And that not countring the millions going to those countries for oil and its huge profits. Everyone needs to consider with the coming elections..just what we are getting in return for electing professional politicans...from what I have seen so far..favors owed to lobbyist have more influence on our politicans than our voting them inot office had. I have not heard one politican claim he or she was against lobbyist and their money..nor for the favors owed because of that money.

We are being held hostage by foreign governments sympathetic to the causes of jihad and other anti-american doctrines.. we either give them billions in 'aid' or they refuse the insanely limited access we are granted to their countries to root out terrorist cells. In reference to Wakeuppeople's post.. great job- and we should disperse 'aid' to these countries in direct correspondence to thier level of support.. I'll even offer up the the first revised 'aid' package to Pakistan-I've got a bit of change in my pocket, and that's all they deserve for blatantly harboring the greatest known terrorist of this generation.

You see: we had to save our allies (with democracies in their nations) like Kuwaiti ruler with 65 plus wives, Saudi rulers, princes and princesses, UAE rulers and others.

We had oil prices as low as $145.

By the way, I DO NOT agree that money spent on nations that we are unpopular with is necessarily wasted. The PRIME example is Egypt, and given the use of the Suez Canal by our civilian and military ships, I think it has paid off just fine. That money we spend has been made a hundred-fold by corporations, and also served our national interest. It so happens that the tyrant we sent the money to is at his rightful end, but it doesn't mean the money we spent was wrong or that the new government will be anything but friendly.

As far as the people of any of these countries go, its hard not to have prejudices when telephone communication still isn't a standard in all households and the news comes from one man at a 'pulpit.' So, really, what do you expect? I do agree, however, the vast majority of countries we send money to is not returned in kind. And I agree that something should be done about it NOW.

I totally agree. Stop ALL aid and money going to Pakistan and stop giving them Visas to come to the US. The Pakis don't deserve anything more from us and the ones here are a national security threat.

It's been my philosophy over the last few elections to assume that challengers are a better choice than any incumbent. We know that the guy in office now is looking out for his own re-election first and foremost while maybe giving an occasional thought to the welfare of the country-give somebody else a chance. You want this sort of crap to stop, remove the party system and any means to contribute funds to politicians unless it is from a person (no corps, no groups, only a single persons name as the contributor) reported, transparent, for all to see. Then when the politicians will no longer run for an office, those campaign funds go towards SS (currently, that money goes to their pockets when they leave office...and we are to believe that eventual windfall from a corp/group doesn't sway their votes...ya, right, and I have a bridge for sale..)
