To reiterate my comment, the world being what it is these days, I expect the pictures will eventually show up on the internet anyway.

WHY is it "ok" to show images of OUR dead falling from the towers ? WHY is it "ok" to show "them" dancing in the streets at OUR deaths ?

I guess the administration believes that if we DONT show OBL dead, we wont be the targets of retaliation.

The Abu Ghirab photos were of American Soldiers that were commiting crimes of humanity against prisoners. These items are in no way, shape, or form the same entity. We are Americans. We are not anything like the terrorists. We do not need the propaganda for creating hate.

Jeff, I like to think we are better than that. Pres is right. No trophy heads, bodies dragged through streets, be-headings, or anything like the enemy. At least I hope we are better than that.

It is true that conspiracy nutjobs would NEVER be satisfied even if they were right there with the commandos doing the shooting. A true fool will never know he/she is a true fool. On the other hand, just out of morbid curiosity, I would love to see the pictures. Screw Osama Bin Laden. I hope he is in hell and I want to laugh at his dead face. But, I know that is why I want them released and I know there are probably good reasons not to release them and therefore, I really don't let it get to me one way or the other.

Exactly! It is TOTAL hypocrisy to want the release of the Abu Gharib photos and yet support the President in not releasing the Bin Laden photos. Personally, however, I think the photo needs to be released!

I am insensed. and angry that 1 he was buried at sea and within his religious right. Did he ever give any rite to all the people he killed. Why would we give him rights. He deserved none and we just gave al qaida more power by observing their rights. honoring their dead. They can say now US is honoring and acknowledging their religion and practices basically we are telling al qaida that what they are doing is right.

The Abu Ghirab photo's incited the Muslim World, and did nothing to undo the crimes of these soldiers, the exact same reason why Bush did not want them released...You have every right to be a partizan hack...but please don't assume everybody else is stupid

We ARE better then that, and thankfully we were reminded of that by our President.

No doubt photos will be leaked and available on the 'net for those that need to see the gore. Strategic leaking seems like the best option.

They will be splattered all over every newspaper and kids have access to internet, even in schools. You must not have kids or you would never say what you did. My kids do NOT need to see those pictures and in this day and age, it's a little hard to say, "don't look". They will be everywhere. You want to see pictures like this, rent a horror flick.

No, if people want to see pictures, let them go looking themselves. But in no way, shape, or form should it be publicized. Don't give the man any more media attention than we've given him for almost ten years now. The majority of the Islamic people in the world weren't Al-Qaeda, and he doesn't represent them; publicizing that picture only serves to aggravate an already fickle situation.

I agree. I'm glad they aren't releasing the pictures. We are above that kind of behavior, unlike the savages who showed beheadings on TV and took videos of captured pilots, dragging their dead burned bodies through their streets. I'm glad our president took the high road. A lot of Americans could learn a lesson from him.
