NATO needs to just take the Clown out, it will last forever at the rate they are going, they wanted the mission in name only and the US to support, fund and do the dirty work, what chaos and blunders the Obama has caused, his daddy named him wrong, he should be called Obummer. He has yet to get something right, most who voted for him are starting to unravel, we never thought he could do some much so soon, too bad that it is in the wrong direction and we wonder why his staff keeps changing, it is because his thoughts and policies change based on where he is speaking, it all means the same, BIG GOVERNMENT and WASTE, no matter who is there in office, we are the ones they are screwing. They continue to waste and spend us into poverty with only their fortunes increasing. GO OBAMA GO, GO HOME. Tornado alley needs your help but your too busy flying the skys wasting taxpayers billions and have never left the campaign trail. You have to do your job as President one of these days. Elections are every 4 years but you seem to think that you are still running. You are in office already and if you do your job properly, you don't have to campaign. We are tired of Obama the Movie Star and want to see Obama the President doing something for our Nation for a change, it seems Obama has not realized that there is a job to be done. Mr. Vacation, Mr. Waste, Mr. BS but never Mr. President due to his life of Glamour instead of time in the office working real problem and finding solutions. TYou can not say that this war is not costing us. We only have 2 so lets make it 3 or 4 or 5 wars. it only cost lives and money.
These rebels couldn't take and hold a spot-a- pot. The first time somebody shoots at it they jump in their pick ups and head 5 miles further back. Yes, we won the Revolution, but not until we were well organized and trained. If we're going to use air on armor, they need to call in the strikes. Right now, this is just another Iraq/Afghanistan/Vietnam in the works. At some point it'll be---we have to send troops in to get this thing done.
Ummmm.........we did?????
Who's "we"?????
Who's "'em"??????
Who did we "beat"??????
What mission was accomplished???
What did we "win"?????
Please elaborate.
I find it ironic (not) that our poll happy media has taken hardly NO POLLS to determine where the American public stands on this Libyan escapade...
Gen X/Y there seems to be a universal effort to control the conversation; don't fall for it... email your elected leaders (daily) and tell them that we absolutely do not support another bogus WAR OF CHOICE...
If the Rebels took the border crossing then Gadhafi's troops must not have wanted it. The Rebels couldn't win if their lives depende3d on it or they wouldn't be calling for NATO to help them.
If armed troops show up the Rebels will shoot several hundred rounds in the air, jump in their hoopty trucks and drive over to the first news reporter with a camera they see and demand the U.S. send troops.
We shouldn't have fired the first missle at Libya and we damn sure shouldn't waste Servicemen and womens lives in supporting something the the Arab League should be dealing with.
Libya doesn't even sell us oil so what makes them any more important than any other country that has internal fighting. If other countries want to get involved then let them but not in the name of NATO because nothing going on in Libya has anything to do with the agreement we signed to put us in NATO in the first place.
Obama has taken a very hasty step attacking Libya with missiles, then backed away quickly becasue of the opinion polls. He should have watched the opinion polls before going to war with Libya. Now more people are being killed in Libya after intervention. We should have let the Libyan settle themselves the way Baharinis and Yummanies are handling their uprising.
Why should we send them anything. How much does anyone think we owe Libya? When the PAN AM bomber was released they were standing there cheering with signs in their hands proclaiming death to america. So how much does anyone think we owe these people and why?
Plus haven't we sent a hundred or so cruise missles on a one way trip to Libya already? Those 114 or so missles costed the tax payers approx $85 million dollars to buy and will cost them at least that much more to replace.
Sandtrich
I agree the military wastes millions if not billions every year. I was responsible for closing an army post in Europe and if the powers that be had their way there would have been a few hundred million dollars in equipment, furniture, etc. wasting in landfills and millions more spent to the German landfill owners to take the stuff in the first place.
In fact the only reason BRAC seemed to cost more than actually keeping a post open is because of the people at the top wanting to just throw the stuff away and being done with it when in fact they could find a home for everything on a post and turn a profit.
If they ever do another round of BRAC, I will be there turning in a bid to close as many of the posts as possible for much less than the military would do it for.
Star if my memory is correct, "Obama" launched missiles AFTER the NATO resolution. AFTER being the key word. And Rory he didn't commit an act any more illegal than the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. The Bosnia no-fly wasn't an illegal act was it? C'mon guys, spill your real agenda....
appears to be; Countries are in a self-destructive mode, World wide..well, so much for education and greed..they're so darn smart; give em weapons and money, then they all blow themselves up..REAL SMART !! <sarcasm>..............
The so-called "aid ships" are being used to transport weapons to the NATO stooges, er rebels, in Misrata.
That makes the ships legitimate wartime targets for Gaddafi's military and, by extension, it makes the civilians aboard them human shields for the Western-backed combatants in Libya.
Where is the condemnation from the commentators who were so quick to accuse Hamas of using civilians as human shields while Israel wantonly fired white phosphorus munitions into Gaza's residential neighborhoods?
Double standard indeed. Look very closely at Obama's major campaign contributors. Time Warner, Google, GE (NBC) , Microsoft...these are just off the top of my head. They have a vested interest in him, they control vast sections of the communications industry and media bias is only to be expected. There is a monstrous double standard at work here.
Note that the media has quit posting the names of the American dead, when Bush was in office the naming was regular and daily. Obama gets a pass for things which any other president would have been excoriated over.
The love affair with Obama will be the country's undoing, his actions should be subject to serious scrutiny and questioning, none of which are happening. When he contradicts himself or is caught lying, no one calls him to task. His campaign speeches and political stances as a senator are in direct contrast to his actions as president and yet the media continues to march lockstep with him, glossing over or completely ignoring actions which have a direct and often negative impact on the country. Libya is a perfect case in point.
Obama is not a military strategist. He has resisted involvement in LIBYA and from these comments, rightfully so, Hurrah.
Bush(2), Cheney and Rumsfeld watch => fabrication of IRAQ nuclear WMD, exposure of a CIA operative (political reparations), 4400+ American casualties, 300+ Allied Casualties, and 50,000+ IRAQ civilian fatalities.
He should have kept on resisting. As Commander in Chief of the US Military he should have a few military advisors and strategists on hand, wouldn't you agree? His own Secretary of Defense, Gates, has gone on record stating that he doesn't approve of the current Libyan strategy and, in fact, has stated that he is stepping down this summer.
I am a Vietnam Volunteer, and I understand something about our ability to command the country side. We would brush their forces aside outside of the cities without much, if any, losses. This based on the IRAQ mechanized assault. We have one draw back, we would get pounded by artillery close in with the cities. Our force structure needs to be changed, we could intercept and destroy incoming artillery if we wanted to in the distant future with some IR&D. However, this is a civil war, and that means we would not be involved if Kadafi had not targeted civilians. The world court needs to judge him a terrorists.
God is nowhere to be found with the rebels.....lol....If by god you mean the US then OK, but these rebel retards could not do anything on there own. As soon as a gunshot is herd they jump in there pick ups and run. The US should not even be there.
If we had any real leaders in congress it would have already been started. No one there has enough guts to do anything. Civil war broke out over Abraham Lincoln's polices, may have to happen again. Problem now is that if we did what al Qaeda, whoops, the rebels in Libya are doing Herr Obama would use drones against us too. This country is finished unless the people wake up and march on DC and demand he be impeached, tried as a traitor and sent to Git Mo with the rest of his buddies.
One of the great things about this nation is the freedom for people to say what they want, even if it is stupid and uninformed. But my god, Libya is one of the great revolutions??? Are you kidding? It just more radical Muslims getting rid of a Muslim they think is too secular. There is nothing great about it, just more evidence of the dysfunctional nature of Islam. Odumbo though he could get an easy win on this one and try to save his sorry lying ass from getting tossed out of office.
People keep up with the GWB, WMD, stuff. For the record, LBJ led us into Vietnam on a Tonkin Gulf incident that never occurred. That was 10 years, 58,000 dead and 304,000 wounded. I believe that is the topper. Yeah, he was a Dem. He's also the one that placed excess SS in the general fund where it could be spent and they did spend it. In reality, we don't care what the UN does or Nato. We are both of them and if we deem it in our national interests, we're going in anyhow. The AU classified it as an internal strife and it is.
Kaddafi's military has proven to be quite adept at thwarting and rendering NATO's bombing campaign largely ineffective. I suspect they'll be able to do the same with the predators. If so, then the question is; what will Obama and his NATO pal's do next?
BTW, everyone with even a portion of brain function knows the main goal of the predator's are to locate and kill Kaddafi. After all, this is the predator's primary function in Pakistan, to locate and kill people.
WE NEED TO start recalling any politician who wants to send millions of dollars of our money or equipmentto a foreign country as if we are BIG DADDY RICH. Most of the time the politicians who are sooo generous with somebody elses money only want to serve their corporate masters financial objectives and don't care if thousands of americans lose their lives in the process.....LETS STOP the poitical party infighting and take our america back. .....BUSH pulled a con but OBOMBA started a war without authority---According to our U.S. constitution --Only congress can declare war. If we do not hold our own President to following the law then how can we hold others to it. By failing to take action we are sending the message to every citizen young and old that our laws don't really mean anything. THIS is one the biggest dangers in our countrytoday.------- In conclusion.... ITS TIME TO IMPEACH OBOMBA.
Republican radicals have never sounded more like the Democrat radicals they hate.
Fair weather supporter of the troops much, are we? Oh, wait, it is completely appropriate to support the troops when your favorite sports star (oh, I mean President) is in the White House, and then suddenly you are 'expressing your freedom of speech' when your rival sports star (whoops, darn, I mean President) is in the White House.
Go ahead and keep lying to yourself.
Again, thankfully the radical spew that goes on here represents zero election power. To repeat, ad nauseum, the thinking independents and those willing to change their mind still control who is in power. And sometimes, even despite the money spent. Rich people and radicals hate voting.
Predator Drones are Virtual Boots on the Ground....it won't be long now till actual boots join them....We put 150,000 troops into Iraq and it still took us 10 months to find Saddam.....this is far from over....Some No-Fly Zone....
It's too late for that. The best we can hope for right now is that this cluster fu_k he's gotten us into will be his undoing, and end of is aspirations of a second term.
Only congress can declare war.
True, but as with every conflict since Korea, this also is undeclared. The war powers act enables a President to take such action, and is only obligated to notify Congress. The War Powers act states that troops are allowed on the ground for only 60 days, with a 30 day withdrawal period, but even that provision has been circumvented many times over the years. Hillary pushed for this, Obama is just holding her apron strings.
How can anyone read this Article (Obama OKs Use....drones) and believe that we are soley protecting civilians w/i the guidelines of UN Resolution 1973? --- the following are excepts from the Article:
Gates: "(drones) will allow for more precise attacks against Gadhfi's forces" -- we are to protect civilians -- not blindly attack Gadhfi's troops.
NATO bombed Tripoli (hundreds of miles from any fighting) and Gharyan. Libyan TV said there were 7 dead and 18 civilians injured. NATO said it had "no indication of civilian casualties" -- well, it was on TV, isn't that an "indication"-- not to NATO but, NATO takes everything the rebels tell it as gospel. As to Ghyaryan, NATO had "no comment" as to civilian casualties.
Gen. Bouchard (NATO Libyan commander) said "civilians should stay away from Gadhfi's forces to avoid being hit by NATO air attacks". What the Hell is this? NATO doesn't care if their are civilians around, it will bomb Gadehfi's forces anyway. Remember: "protect civilians". What about the rebels fighting in the midst of a civilian population in Misurata, I guess NATO feels that that is OK after all, civilians are (or are they not) getting killed there. A bit of a double standard?
UN Resolution 1973 calls for it's members to use diplomacy. Gadhfi, the Article says, is calling for a cease fire and negotiations, Yet NATO is again disregarding the UN mandate, escalating the war, to which it has now, unquestionably became a part, and refusing diplomacy.
NATO is a collection of hypocrites as to Obama, I'll not comment.
Obama!! Stop the escation, GET US OUT OF THERE and BTW: How much does it cost the taxpayers every time YOU send one of OUR drones out on a mission.
if we really cared about humanitarian efforts, we would be in Sudan. this is about oil (Europe's). There are other real issues playing into this story, you have to have widow-dressing to cover up the ugly truth.
The world has become so connected it will be a wonder if we will not be pulled into more and more "crisis" in the future, maybe we will realize that there is a cost to "involvement" and realize that countries need to resolve their issues themselves before intervention can begin; otherwise, we enable the world to rely on others to "bail" them out. I guess we have a global entitlement mentality?????
Saying we shouldn't be in Lybia IS SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS. Are you too partisan to see that? Please tell me why you think that President Obama is right about this action he is taking. I don't think we should be doing what we're doing. And I say "we" because the rest of the world sees it as the United States doing this when it is in fact just our President doing it.
Let me talk like you. You lefties are too ignorant to realize when President Obama is making a big mistake. If he were a Republican you and your ilk would be marching in the streets. Where are the protestors? Where's Code Pink?
Virgil---If we are to get any posative results we need to dismantle the 2 party con game... uh I mean political system. We need to start taking to the streets--protesting, letting our politicians know in no uncertain terms that we're not going to tolerate their dirty dealngs anymore. We need to outlaw lobyists. We need to put low $ limits on campaign expenditures. We need to prohibit special interest campaign contributions. Unless these type of things start occuring this country is done.
Libya has lost thousands upon thousands of their Civilians and Rebels, because of the US not being on top of what NATO or the UN had being doing--Not much, but empty verbal words by our President...
President Obama always makes his major Foreign Policy decisions when it is too late. Gadhafi has won.
The US is sooo weak in the eyes of other Countries. We are no longer respected by others, even our US citizens as one can see by the remarks on the Newsvine blogs.
Asked why the United States did not want to increase its role in Libya, Gates noted the U.S. military was already stretched thin...blah blah blah....
the real reason is this, Nobama the Clown has a snowball's chance in hell of getting congress to go along with any type of admitted military action on the ground. he was lucky they havent started impeachment procedings. i know for fact if he went and commited troops openly (like we dont have the CIA there now) congress would have a field day whipping that tool right out of office, and cant say i'd blame them 1 bit. Well now we have the drones on the way, its only because there has been no real progress made. The rebels fight amoung the civilians, so now its called a humanitarian aid effort... to protect civilians... key word..."protect". i dont think tossing rations at Gadaffy's troops are going to do much good at running them off, so we know what the humaitarian aid is now dont we?
Interesting how MSNBC has bundled this story with the previous story. Same posts for essentially two different stories. They run out of room and don't want to start another comments section. The drones are a new wrinkle in the bedsheet.
I am heartened to hear that there will be no boots on the ground. No escalation either. Thank goodness for that. Right...
We are close to raising the debt ceiling and this clown is wasting MILLIONS of dollars on this civil war??? We need to get him OUT of there. How DARE he do something against the wishes of those that voted him into office. What arrogance. All of his campaign promises about getting us out of the Middle East conflicts will come back and haunt him in his reelection campaign! I hope and pray that the Democrats are smart enough to put someone else there at their convention but I doubt it!
There are not American troops yet to support in Libya , we are waisting our weapons to help those Libyans that kill Americans in Iraq. Let them defend themselves let the Arab world to deal with their own problems. Doesn't matter what we do at the end we will be the invaders. However one thing is true , if you want to kill the snake you have to cut the head, the head of all this middle eastern mess is IRAN and this administration had no guts to do that.
JH thinks I'm a LEFTY? ROTFLMAO! He's a prime example of why foaming at the mouth radicals from the left AND right have no relationship to reality. I love it.
OMG!!! What a bunch of cowards and liars you all are!!! President Obama has NOT declared war on Libya, so stop pretending like he has ... you are using that as your basis to claim that he did something outside the realm of what he is allowed to do by the Constitution, and it's all just a lie! After all the Bush/Cheney/Rove regime did and said, lying to the American people the entire time, you are all pretending like President Obama has done something he has not done and/or said something that he has not said!!! If you don't like the guy, fine!!! Don't like him and don't vote for him, but stop lying and pretending like he's done something that is an impeachable offense (he has NOT) or that he has done something in violation of the Constitution (he has NOT)! Stand up and man-up (or woman-up) and tell the truth! You just don't like the guy because he's half Black and half Caucasian ... and it's oh so clear that your white robes and lynch 'em mentality are showing ... It's the 21st Century for Christ sake! Open up your minds and stop being so divisive and try working with others in our country who are ready to move forward into the new Century with open hearts and minds and work with each other for the benefit of us all ... just like President Obama! But you sheep would apparently prefer to let the right-wingers and Tea
No ground forces -- is that a promise or did Obama get around to reading UN Resolution 1973.
Look at this one, I love it: From the Article: "There are no plans...to increase the American presence substantially, Gates said". " 'There's no wiggle room for that', said Gates".
"Substantially"? -- "no wiggle room"? I just love double talk!
tutu, you must be kidding! I don't give two hoots if Obama is black, white, or green with blanking polka dots so stuff the race card. He is incompetent, untrustworthy and doing
one hell of a job of destroying our economy and our country.
Send in the drones, what the hell, they only cost a few million each or is that a billion each? AND he has in his infinite wisdom decided we need to give Bolivia over a Billion to build a new refinery. Reasoning? They will be required to use American made parts and supplies so it will create jobs. How stupid would you have to be to buy that one. We get a few short term jobs and the Bolivians get a new refinery paid for by us and when it is finished they get the long term jobs it takes to run it and the profits from refining. Where are our new refineries? The same blanking place our own oil is, no where to be used because some want us to depend on the rest of the world where their favorite past time has become killing each other when they aren't trying to kill us. GET this straight, no one gives a hoot what color this boob is. We just want him out of our lives and our, yes OUR Whitehouse.
The Republicans supported military intervention--now they don't. Which is it today? Personally, I wish the President didn't listen to the military industrial complex that makes money on death--their only purpose--death.
Our defense is not defense--it's offense. "If" this measure was backed by a Republican President, 100% of the Republican posters would be 100% behind it. I'm not--I can't sell out my Liberal values. We spend less on social safety nets than any of the G7 countries, while spending well more than all of them combined on defense.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. " Dwight D Eisenhower
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex." Dwight D Eisenhower
I am announcing my candidacy for President in 2012. Read below.
After due thought and consideration, I have decided to start a write in campaign for President of the United States. This for all primaries in the 50 states that comprise the U. S. A.
I have come to the conclusion that things in Washington D. C. are very much broken and will never be fixed as long as all of the insiders remain in control. New and fresh blood is needed in the Nations Capitol. Re-electing the same old guard will not solve the problem.
I do not have the required $10,000.00 filing fee to get my name on the ballots around the Nation. I do not want donations or contributions. I will do this all from the free internet social web sites such as Facebook, Twitter, My Space and any other free forum. Why waste money to enrich someone elses pocket book? I am there for asking that you write my name in on a write in ballot, that is if you agree with my thinking. Below is what I propose if elected by the people of the United States in the election in 2012. I am an American, not a Republican, Democrat or any other political affiliation, just an AMERICAN.
I will first order all of our military home from all around the world, except South Korea for very apparent reasons there. I will however replace the U. S. Army units there with the 3rd Marine Division from Japan. I will close all foreign military bases through out the world saving millions or maybe even billions of U. S. tax payers dollars that are spent in foreign countries for rental and operation of those bases. The world does not need us to be its police force. They should be self reliant and use their own money and resources including their population to protect themselves. That money can be used to re-open bases that were closed in America because of budget cuts. This will create jobs here in America. There is no place in the world we can not reach with our present weaponry and or aircraft in a matter of minutes to just a few short hours. We should always be ready to deploy troops in a few short hours to any where in the world from the United States or our naval fleets.
I will also order the Secretary of the Treasury to stop all foreign aid payments to every country in the world. We do not need to support all of these foreign governments who take our money with one hand and stab us in the back with the other.
I will also order all states to enforce all federal immigration laws and close the borders of America to all illegal immigrants. Legal immigration is a very good thing and important to the continued growth of America. At the same time I will also order all state, county, and city police departments to reduce their traffic divisions to only issuing citations when an accident occurs or an extremely blatent violation in noted. Traffic control should not be used as an illegal form of taxation of our citizens. Those officers currently in traffic control can be better used to combat crime in the cities and also controlling drug abuse.
I will also instruct the Secretary of the Treasury to enact a minimum 50% tax on all imported goods made in a foreign country that are manufactured by an American based company and imported into America. I will also institute sanctions against any American based business who exports our jobs to foreign countries.
I will also fix the thing that is most broken with our veterans. The V.A. Hospital system. The biggest objection to a national health care system is caused by the way we take care of our veterans. I will clean up the V. A. hospital and medical system to make it the best in the world. I will make sure that any person who ever put on a uniform in any of our armed forces will be covered regardless of what their income is. That will only apply to those who receive a general or honorable discharge. Those who received a BCD, UD, or DDC will not qualify. If we eliminate our biggest objections to national health care, the insurance companies will be forced to bring their premiums into line with reality. A national insurance program can also be created (use strictly optional) supported by premiums, not tax dollars.
As for our Federal Income Tax I will institute a flat tax on every one and every business. IRS will not need to harass our citizens. They will have their hands full keeping American businesses monitored and their taxes collected. Not like now where the largest corporations and banks do not pay taxes but receive back millions in refunds.
I will require congress to enact simple laws that are easy to understand and implement. I will remind them daily that they represent the people of the United States of America not some special interest group or big business. I will daily appear before them and read them the preamble to the Constitution of The United States of America. I will also tell them they are no longer Democrat or Republican but Congressmen and Congresswomen of the Congress of the United States. It is their duty and responsibility to promote the general welfare of its citizens not big business or special interest groups. I will also instruct the Vice President to do the same in the Senate as he will be the Chairman of the Senate of the United States. I will also tell them that they work for me and I work for all the people of the United States and answer only to them. They do not work for any special interest group or big business.
Be it known that if I ever have to send our young men and women into harms way I will not tie their hands, but order that they use any and all means to bring about the swift and complete end to the problem. I say to hell with political correctness and all the bull crap treaties that prevent nations from protecting them selves from aggression by anyone or any country. I do not believe the use of nuclear force is needed with the capabilities of our current military weaponry. If the United States is forced into military conflict it's actions will be deadly and final to the conclusion of said action. Our brave young men and women in the military need more than to be sent somewhere to protect our way of life and our freedoms, then told they can't do this or that and expect them to give their life in the performance of that duty. The United States is the greatest nation on the face of planet Earth and I will regain the respect of the rest of the world as in the days of old. I do not mean respect from fear but respect for greatness and leadership.
I will also remove the United States from the U. N. and order the Secretary of the Treasury to stop any and all payments to that defunct organization. We have supported and carried it on our backs far to long. We are not the worlds police force and do not need to be used as such by them.
I also plan to take care of our retired people by raising them minimum social security payment to $2,000.00 per retiree. The money saved from not supporting the U. N. and foreign aid payment will more than cover that cost.
I promise the America people all of these things and I will do them. I know how to do it and have the hair on my backside and the brass between my legs to do it. I also promise to return the government of the people by the people for the people back to the people.
My name is Preston E. Burris. I am a natural born American citizen. I was born in the State of Missouri. I have a legal copy of my birth certificate with the embossed state seal on it. In my heart and mind I am first an American and will always be an American. Secondly I am a former United States Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine, to which I am a life member in the Marine Corp League. The Marine Corp taught me some of the most important rules of life. One of which is, in order to be a good leader you must be a good follower. I believe in and support a strong United States military. I will not sell America down the river to any one or any foreign nation. I am a retired Sheet Metal worker. I have traveled all over the United States doing that occupation for 37 1/2 years before retirement. As a high school student in Missouri I attended school in a rural community. One of my teachers posted placards above the blackboard one of which I made something I live my life by. "Ignorance is excusable, to remain that way is not." These placards were provided to him by Ralston Purina Company in the 1950s.
I know the Constitution says that in order for a person to be eligible to run for President of the United States one must have resided in America for 14 years. I will challenge anyone who thinks it must be 14 years immediately prior to running for the office. Proof of my eligibility is that Thomas Jefferson was Ambassador to France for George Washington, and ran for election to be come the second President of the U. S. of A. He was not elected. He however was elected Vice President under John Adams. He ran again to become the third President of the U. S. of A. successfully. He had not lived in the U. S. for 14 years prior to his election as V.P. Another person who ran for and was elected not having lived in the U. S. for 14 years preceding his election was General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was elected in 1952 after having served abroad in Europe in W. W. II until the defeat of Germany in 1945. He also served abroad leading the American forces in Korea in the early 1950s. There are two cases to prove my eligibility even though I have lived in China for the last 5 and 1/2 years. I am 70 years old and lived my whole life in America until I came to China to marry. Also if things go according to plan, if I am elected President the first lady will be a Chinese National not an American. She however will be a legal resident according to immigration laws.
I am serious about all of this and if you are serious about wanting your government back from the corruption that exist in our nations capital please give me your vote. I want to give America back to the American public.
Rory3566--- post 1.3- you are right, it is obvious. your comment has twice as many likes as any other on this thread and it will never be one of the 3 highlighted comments under the article. you see, mslsd is nothing more than a water carrier for the obama administration. this is a pure state propaganda news source. no one who can read and understand english can dispute this. this is another sad day for america, something we have all felt on a regular basis under the dictator marxist the liberals love so much. drones in libya, how come this man is not charged with murder? how come congress allows him funding for this putrid occupation of a foreign nation that poses no threat to any americans? worst president ever, even worse than bush.
Drones should be at the southern border to eliminate the drug trafficker and the illegal immigration. President Obama as his priorities in the wrong order.
Hey shaky; where were you when Bush, Cheney, Wolfowicz and Rumsfeld were busy spending recklessly, invading a sovereign nation in a discretionary war, lying to congress about WMD and evoking great fear in the American people with those lies, in order to gain approval for a war that in reality was based on profiteering and one count of personal vengeance, sacrificing lots of American lives, which, BTW, are above price, and handing out no bid contracts to Haliburton. Oh, they also said that we would be repaid for our military efforts in Iraq with oil when that country was "freed" from the despotic rule of Saddam. Know what happened? Your memory good? The Iraqi government decided to sell their oil to, guess who.......... yep, our friends, the Chinese, who, by the bye, were one of the big lenders who Bush went to to finance that particular fiasco. (The other big lender was...........Yep, you got it! Bush's good buddies, the Saudis). Bush never put that war in the budget, he just borrowed and spent. You think Obama screwed this country? The way I see it is that the Bush admin threw about $6 or 7 trillion on the shoulders of us taxpayers. Hell, Obama didn't even initiate the stimulus - Bush did that, too. Obama did implement it, but Bush initiated it. The one really bonehead thing that Obama did, was sign that damned HCR into law. BIG mistake.
As for new refineries, why don't you ask the oil companies why they do not upgrade existing refineries or build new ones themselves since they are all sitting on huge amounts of capital gleaned from the record profits they have harvested over the last ten years, at our expense I might add.
I don't think calling the POTUS a "boob" says much about your intellect or your ability to see past your own narrow little mindset.
And when you say "we just want him out of our lives and our, yes OUR Whitehouse" I must assume you are attempting to refer to all of us. Sadly, you are only one of a minority that voted against Obama in 2008 and unless a majority vote against him in 2012, he will most likely remain POTUS for 4 more long, long years. Longer for some of us than others.
Other stuff: he has done nothing that is impeachable. If he had you can be sure that Boehner and his TP cohorts would have already started the proceedings. Speaking of Boehner and his playmates; they are who approve whatever moneys are sent to foreign countries. Civics 101: the president may suggest or request money for certain things; unless congress approves and enacts such dispersals, they don't happen. So, if you want to ask somebody why a billion got sent to Bolivia (if , indeed, that is factual - honestly, I have my doubts. I think it's bulls#@t) ask Boehner.
If Bush was still the Pres. orMcCain had won election and this thing is as is, you guys would be hailing them as God Damn Heroes. If you seriously think that drones are not a good idea vs. soldiers on the ground you right wing nut jobs are more than welcome to volunteer your hides and join Qaddafi's team.
Bush isn't Pres and McCain didn't win. BO did and he's being judged on what he's done. Congress can moan and complain but they can't commit the US military anywhere---only the President can do that. This is not right wing/left wing stuff. It's hawks and doves. I'm not reading too many let's get in there and clean the place up comments. BO was elected on bringing the GI's home and soon to be 3 years in he's went the other way. In 1986, we bombed Libya and killed one of Qaddafi's kids. We sanctioned him and for 42 years he's ran the place. IF left alone, he'd have ended this in short order and we wouldn't be paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. It's not our battle and killing his own people was our reason to get in there, but then again what's public opinion worth?
the simple fact is that Obama did not even seek congressional approval or NATO approval to bomb a soverign nation. Bush did but failed to go through the UN as they sat on their hands and he caught A LOT OF $hit for it.
Obama is truly doing something illegal here if ground forces are committed. Let alone the fact that he basically went at it alone (france) helping us out in Libya.
BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUSH AND OBAMA. AND THE $UCKING MEDIA NOW.
"Under the act, the President can only send combat troops into battle or into areas where ''imminent'' hostilities are likely, for 60 days without either a declaration of war by Congress or a specific Congressional mandate."
As far as the $4 gallon gas, Libya has nothing to do with it. Right now, the world has a major surplus, it all boils down to greed. As far back as last summer, they were talking about making gas as high as $5 dollars a gallon this summer. Don't let the media(Fox) fool you that gas prices are rising because of this civil war in Libya, because that is just a flat out lie. The last President did every thing in his power to "protect" oil in America's (read Cheneys) best interests. As far as Iraq and WMD's(their were none) and 9/11, all most all of the hi-jackers were from Saudi-Arabia. Why didn't we invade Saudi, take a guess, I'm sure you know exactly why.
Who knows about good guys vs. bad guys? We know there are civilian casualties and serious hardships on civilians in places like Misrata. It sucks, but is it really our job to save these people? If so, then why don't we do what needs to be done? If not, then why don't we just take our military toys and go home?
As for the price of gas, it has little to do with Libya and everything to do with speculation. Buy OIL or USO etf's and at least get back some of the extra you are paying at the pump. Hey, when OPEC is cutting production because of over-supply, but the price keeps going up, you might as well get in on the casino action. When the odds are in your favor, time to double down!
In regards to the drones. They've been patrolling our Southern border for a long time now. Wake up. The Predators are a good choice and although a handful of drone patrols won't rack up enormous casualties on Gadhafi's forces, their psychological effect could be significant. They can potentially prevent some civilian casualties, so why not? Potentially they could lead to Gadhafi pulling back his forces who pretty much have free reign right now. They're not free, but they're not putting troops in harms way either.
People need to remember, we are not at war with Libya. We are providing some support to a UN resolution and our allies, nothing more. Take everything you know about recent history wars we have been involved in and throw it out, because this is not the same thing. Would we like to see Gadhafi out in the long run? Sure, but that's not directly our goal. This isn't the US using the UN for cover to justify our actions. Sure everybody is used to that, but that doesn't apply here. Consider for a change that just maybe we are doing exactly what we said and not trying to disguise our real secret intentions.
Maybe, it's in our best long term interests to have the Libyan situation end in a stand-off. I'm not sure we really know that. But it should be clear that if the Libyan Rebels won complete control tomorrow, things could very likely actually get worse, rather than better. These guys are in no way unified enough or prepared to rule a country the size of Libya. Maybe someday, but not now. Remember, their relatively peaceful rebellion escalated into an armed conflict primarily by Gadhafi's actions, not the rebels.
The key is to minimize civilian casualties. I don't think we even have a very clear picture of what the casualty count even looks like. From what I've read, it sounds like maybe hundreds, not thousands. It's even less clear how many are real innocent civilians and how many are armed rebel fighters. Gadhafi's blind shelling of cities, will likely result in civilian casualties and therefore it makes sense to try to stop that. But supporting a full blown rebel offensive is another thing, assuming they could actually make one happen.
I'm not sure that is even on the table for NATO, the British and the French. Yes, we are helping them defend themselves, but I don't see the UN resolution declaring a war on Gadhafi and allying with the Rebels. At least not yet. The French and British may be close to that, but I don't think the UN is. And most definitely, the US isn't. There's a difference between helping and a full blown alliance to achieve a common goal. All the evidence points to the former rather than the later. But most people on the sidelines don't seem to be able to see the distinction.
Bryan, Doesn't it even remotely seem coincidental that we go into Libya and crude starts taking off. Here's why. Most of Libya's oil goes to Italy and European countries. When that supply was cut off, they had to go to the open market to get oil. All of the sudden the price of crude is driven up by a demand that has shifted. Basic cause and effect. Things just don't happen on their own. I watch CNBC, Fox BUSINESS, Bloomberg. These are business people not news folks. Now, I've just told you why. You believe what you want? BUT, you better believe that this is far from over and gasoline will hit highs, I.E. $8.40 a gallon in England.
Also this is speculation. I think the drones are up to locate artillery, tanks, and troop concentrations. With no ground support, the planes seem to be just getting after what they see. Next to troops on the ground, this is about as close as it gets.
OMG!!! What a bunch of cowards and liars you all are!!! President Obama has NOT declared war on Libya, so stop pretending like he has ...
hate to be the bearer of bad news to ya tutu, but you might want to set your jug of kool aid down before you read further.
you see... when you grab a bunch of navy ships, airforce gunships, you head over to some country that isnt yours, send several volly's of missles into the country hitting stratigic targets, launch fighter jets, to shoot down that countries fighter jets, and then drop bombs on that very same country.... it is called WAR. Just because Nonama your Clown does not call it WAR, does not mean it isnt a WAR. This is a war, he has taken sides on, and wrong on his part 110% The most he SHOULD have done was promote a cease fire on both sides, and enforced it. Nothing more, and at this point, saying we are not in another WAR, now with Libya is just more of how it shows the government just how gullibble the public is, kind of like the new thing now...Gadaffy passing out viagra so his troops can rape.... sad state of affairs the UN is in if you ask me to stoop that low.
It would appear that ground troops, or at least as massive surge of weapons, will be necessary if the plan is to get rid of Quadaffi - I hope BO is smarter than that and continues on a path of further non-commitment and keeps our $$ along with any of our boys, out of the equation.
Yes, It would be different if we wage war like it is supposed to be done. The public outcry if that happened would be deafening and our Enemies would be surprised beyond belief.
My whole issue rests with the Facts and those facts point to why should I care what happens to the Libyans. The Libyans hate America as evidenced by many actions but one in particular stands out and that is Urinating on the body of a US Pilot being drug through the streets.
If you really don’t want Obama supporting the "rebels" then you had best provide him support when he says were staying on the sidelines (any other President would have completely succumbed to the "outside" pressure and had boots on the ground by now)...
Gen X/Y don’t pay attention to these old partisan hacks, both sides of the aisle (Dems & Repubs) are pro-intervention...
Yesterday, Secretary of State Clinton announced that the United States was going to supply the "rebels" of Libya with $50 Million Dollars US of "supplies." The supplies were loosely described as second-hand stuff the Pentagon had lying around.
Today, the Commander In Chief announces that The United States/NATO will be using two Predator Drones ( Cost 4.5 Million Each). They will each be loaded with two Hellfire Missiles, ( Cost 70K Each).
On March 28 the president of the United States of America speaks to the nation and tells us that we will join with NATO to do a few things in Libya. The first was to protect the "innocent people." The second was to oust Gaddafi.
In the same speech the president states in essence an extension of the Mission of the United States Navy. The last time that was done was for the First Gulf War. By the way, Saudi Arabia has not paid us for the massive cost we incurred in protecting their oil fields. We can all bow to the king, kiss his ring and thank him for controlling the flow of OPEC oil, and shafting us all when we fill our gas tanks.
The commander in chief also, on March 28, gave our country a new "foreign policy. It is new and never in the history of our country have we had a policy based on "Relativism."
Where are we, the tax payers and citizens of these United States, coming up with the money to pay for all of this? The hundred plus Tomahawks that we launched cost somewhere between 1 Million to 2 Million each.
Finally, in the same speech president Obama stated that we had frozen more than $33 Billion Dollars US of the Gaddafi regimes assets.
Again I say Obama it is past time to thaw that money. Telephone Gaddafi that it has been done and we; the United States of America will withdraw the first payment to us; our total cost to date. Then tell the little s-o-b that every day he stays in Libya we will withdraw our daily cost from the original 33 Billion.
Should he decide to hold on and pay us every day until the 33B is gone, we will find his other assets and piles of gold and begin to pay ourselves back from that.
He may not care about the lives of others but he sure cares about his and his money. I would give him no more than three days to a week before he folds his tent and moves.
Yes indeed, and while we are being paid back what is due us send the Saudis their bill, Egypt gets one, and the rest can line up because at the rate the affairs of state and war are being mishandled there will be a lot of Arab countries owing US a lot of money. Iraq can begin tomorrow by filling our tankers with their oil.
Washington started our Navy, if I remember my history, and Jefferson applied it with force and success in the same sea and same area where our Sixth Fleet is today. The war was against Arabs who had told Jefferson and Adams in a meeting in London to resolve the problem that it was death to all infidels and a jihad. This has not changed. With this president it never will.
What costs will tomorrow bring. I pray not in the lives of our Navy.
hey the 25 million dollars we are printing to send to the libyan people will help, but the printing press broke last night. i hope obama is not leading these college kids on a wild ride. seems to me he has nothing left but them. being in college i hope they know he isn't nothing but a liar and will not help this economy. we have a newly elected governor in office and he is raising tax's as i write. but the repubicans said they can do the budget without raiseing them. they would lay off 2700 state workers. ok thats fine we probably have 8000 that doesn't do a damn thing. but the demo. governor said he might not have to lay anyone off. might is a big word.
we also confiscated far more then that from Ghadafi... money that he stole from the people... so in reality, which i know is a world you try to ignore as often as possible... we are giving them their money back. At the same time removing American goods from the market... people got paid to make those goods, people got paid to organize them and people will get paid to get them there... are you against job creation?
I served aboard a ship in the USN in the early 70's that was decommissioned in the late 80's. It was given to a foreign government. If you have ever served in the military, you know that there are $B's of purchases that sit, rusting away on bases around the world. As opposed to rewarding different government agencies for frugality, they chop their budgets for the next year if they fail to spend all.
Yet, another example of our government doing the wrong thing.
Also, on that same ship, the USS Marias, AO57, we would load 100's of barrels of red lead and blue lead paints, take them out to sea, puncture the barrels and dump them into the ocean. Common practice by the military.
really sandrich? really? how did we get those goods? steal em? no the government bought them. probably at "rock bottom" prices like a 10 grand toilet cover" able to move both up AND down,or a 5 grand "nail driving device".
we bought them with lybia's money, they are AMERICAN made goods! by doing this they have invested 25 million dollars back into the economy! don't be so thick skulled as to not be able to look at the whole picture
really sandrich? really? how did we get those goods? steal em? no the government bought them. probably at "rock bottom" prices like a 10 grand toilet cover" able to move both up AND down,or a 5 grand "nail driving device".
I don't think you even read my post. Instead, you chose to jump in my face. The government waste money out the a$$. Giving that otherwise worthless junk away means nothing to me. I just hope they take a deep cut into that bloated sacred cow of a defense, (offense), budget. Drama = Really? Really? Ah--an ignore author moment has arrived. I have read enough of your Tea Party rancor.
a $175 US grenade would cost about 210.12 LYD. We took about 30 Billion US Dollars when we froze his acounts... most of that is going towards NATO's effort, but you miss my point that giving them $25 million of AMERICAN GOODS is like someone going out and spending 25 million dollars in the US. Somebody had to make those goods...
michael, you moron, the 25 million is humanitarian assisstence from surplus stocks, not money. 25 million was spent every 2 HOURS of the Iraqui occupation at its peak. every 2 hours of every day for 4 years. did you complain about that?
To all those who want to spend all of Ghadafis money that we have frozen on more wars.----Is this yor idea on how to balance the budget. How about keep all of it and pay down our national debt -----If not you'll be speaking chinese soon.
to all you idiots who think that because it is not money but "surplus" supplies that it does not include weaponry and ammunition, are just that, idiots. Do some stinking research and find out just what kind so goodies are considered surplus.
@Rory, you truly are a right wing nut job tea bagging idiot. And I quote from you, "lying warmongering megalomaniac in the white house." That would have been George W and Dick (Head) Cheney that were the lying, warmongering, megalomaniacs. That is the truth no matter what type of spin you need to put on it to make your self or your fellow nut job far right wingers feel better.
Yeah, your right, I did forget about ole Donny boy didn't I. I may come off sounding all left wing nut job, but I do not vote party partisan. These last elections I voted almost 40% republican and about 15% independent leaving roughly 45% democrat. I will never fully trust one politician or one party ever. It is just to dangerous and is literally destroying America.
Increasingly, news videos from the conflict are showing rebels hollering "Allah u Akbar" when they fire rockets and grenades at their own people. (Aren't Gadhafi's loyal troops Libyans, too)? Can we now assume the insurgents have Allah on their side? If so, they won't need NATO anymore. "Allah is great!" LOL.
Replying to my own message here: I did not intend to diminish the power of Allah to give a rat's ass and help the rebels, thereby saving NATO money. In the USA we have (officially) "In God We Trust". So why are we spending tax dollars on airport security?
Have you looked at the new US dollar coin? It does not have the words "In God we trust!" We don't need another war against the Muslims for the benefit of the Europeans. It's way past time to get out of all wars and put the troops on our border with Mexico.
You obviously didn't know anyone in the two towers. The war on terrorism goes on - if we bring everyone home they will follow us here and you will see truck bombs, suicide bombers and who knows what else. One friend they haven't even found a single hair, strand of DNA - nothing. I agree we need to protect the Southern border, We are leaving Iraq and shouldn't be in Libya to begin with but we have to finish up in Afghanistan and possibly Yemen if their govt falls.
We should have stayed out of the Egyptian situation - the devil we knew was better than the Muslim Brotherhood.
Jeff, why don't you acquire yourself a new coin and see for yourself what a bunch of emailed hysteria the rumor of no "In God We Trust" on our coins is.
This internet rumor (which has been debunked for several years now, so please come out from under that rock!) was based on a picture of a new design for a dollar coin I believe. The words "In God We Trust" are in relief around the circumference of the coins. Of course facts won't stand in the way of those who insist on spreading false rumors designed to ignite hate and fear!
Jeff---Thats what the Politicos want...for you to beg them to put our miltary in charge of law in our own country. That way they can impose martial law/take away our weapons/detain and control us at will without reason under the command of the evil /law breaking/lieing politicians. When they could just stop giving amnesty to all the lawbreaking illegal immigrants /fining-jailing the employers who hire illegals knowingly and build better security deterrants (like electric fences / armed sentry towers etc).
Well, well well....... I don't know about you guys but I'M sure as hell happy to see our $25 million giveaway is REALLY paying off, don't you???? <*sarcasm*>
hotticket, 25 million was spent every 2 hours during the height of the Iraq occupation. Bush's invasion cost 16,000 times more than the current 25 million.
lunch, just pointing out a fact to give you guys some perspective. the 25 million is just an excuse for you guys to whine, the impact on the deficit in indetectable beneath the flucuations in exchange rates.
It won`t be an easy task solving the conflict in Libya. The reason is that the Libyans are divided into two groups of which the opposition is composed of former Gaddafi`s cabinet ministers and some from his defence force. Unless the Libyans come together and explore to the international community their demands, then their problem can be solved. It seems to some of the Gaddafi supporters that the UN is in support of the rebels but UN claims the protection of the INNOCENT civilians. The solution to the conflict in Libya is in the hands of its people and not from External intervention...
at least GWB had a defector lie to him and say there were WMD's. so what are we sending aid and money to al-queda operatives for? Didnt we learn our lessons from the Russian Afgan war? we supplied them with money and weapons to fight the russians and they wound up using them against US!!
now we are giving KNOWEN ENEMIES OF OUR COUNTRY money and weapons in hopes of taking out a guy we hate, but hasnt done anything to us personally.
we are treading in really murkey waters here, and we could wind up getting something we wont like or need!
so where are the liberials who said GWB invaded iraq for the oil? there is more proof now than ever that lybia is oil rich and nations are only helping the rebels for the oil!
How naive can you get, thinking it is some sort of revelation that France is in t it for the oil. Well duh!!NEXT you'll be surprised when someone on Wall Street actually wants gas to go to $5!
You people amaze me. We have played Iraq vs. Iran for decades. We gave both countries money & arms to fight & kill each other. We had a foot in each country while pretending one was our ally while pretending the other was our enemy only to reverse that stance a few years later. Libya is no where near Viet-Nam and Obama did not start this war such as Bush did start Iraq & Afghanistan. This Libyan thing started in country, not as a result of any thing Obama has done. Please people, at least think for your selves and stop listening to partisan politicians and biased news outlets.
bryan:You forgetting 9-11? Go reread the history of the Vietnam war, Obama got us into another war (humanitarian action/conflict) in the same manner as his predecessors.
9/11 was predominantly carried out by people from Saudi Arabia, does that ring a bell with you mygirl1? There was not one from Iraq and only one from Afghanistan. So, guess who we invaded? That's right, Iraq and then several years later Afghanistan. Why do you suppose that that is? Viet-Nam had been in conflict for a decade before we foolishly put boots on the ground, this is in no way the same as flying a few sorties and now using drones to drop Hell-Fire missiles. Not even close to the same thing.
Bryan: The stated goal was the capture of Bin Laden, supposed to have been hiding in Afghanistan. Also in Afghanistan were terrorist training camps and a Taliban commited to securing Bin Laden's safety. My take on Iraq was logistical, the troops and weaponry were in place and Saddam, the evil dictator was oppressing his people (sound familiar?)
France wanted US help with Vietnam back in the fifties and Truman complied by sending 12 million dollars and military 'advisors' along with the tanks, planes and other necessary war supplies. Money from the US along with munitions and advisors.
Please tell me how Obama is any different from Truman. Now we get the drones. Did you catch the 2,200 marines deployed March 25th. Then we hear that Obama is giving the rebels 23 million 'aid'....
So, France, along with the Arab League and Italy and the Hamas led Lebanon wants NATO to get Quadaffi. These conderned and altruistic nations and organizations suddenly want Quadaffi gone? The rebels have proven to be as blood thirsty and barbaric as Quadaffi is accused of being. If you doubt that statement Youtube: :Libyan rebels behead and mutilate surrendered soldier' whic will give you many videos of similar atrocities.
Personally, I don't really give one iota about Libya. But, by your own admission: "Truman complied by sending 12 million dollars and military 'advisors' along with the tanks, planes and other necessary war supplies. Money from the US along with munitions and advisers." Obama has not sent any, that means "ZERO" advisers, Zero Tanks and only 25 mill in surplus supplies(maybe I shouldn't say only 25 mill, but). If you truly believe that this is the first time we have played one side against another, then you need to go back and check history. And as far as finding Bin Laden, Which by the way the Bin Ladens were and are still, long time Bush family friends, Bin Laden is from Saudi Arabia. And, when we were looking for him, we didn't invade Afghanistan until several years(Bush's 2nd term) after we invaded Iraq. Surely you can see that with out me or some news agency telling you what to see or think.
@ Michael, We put a small amount of troops in Afghanistan, but we went full force into Iraq originally, and we still have more troops in Iraq, go figure huh!!!!
If you really don’t want Obama supporting the "rebels" then you had best provide him support when he says were staying on the sidelines (any other President would have completely succumbed to the "outside" pressure and had boots on the ground by now)...
GenX/Y don’t pay attention to these old partisan hacks, both sides of the aisle (Dems & Repubs) are pro-intervention...
0bummer should have come to Congress instead of listening to the UN. Bush has a Senate vote of 77-23 to go to Iraq and yet the liberals forget they voted for it and call Bush a war monger. I don't think 0bummer is a war monger - I just think he is incompetent.
At the outset of this Libyan fiasco, we needed a leader to say, "Enough, we have our own problems to solve, this is a civil war which we will not get into." Of course, we didn't and don't have a leader in the White House.
Black---If you've read my posts before you know I'm no OBOMBA fan but for the correct facts--- Its better said that BUSH tricked the congress into voting for the IRAQ war by jumping up and down and pushing what inteligence experts stated was weak and obviously suspect intel about WMD. BUSH was a war monger or better said an OIL monger....While ----OBOMBA is an OIL War Monger.
You are right on Obama is incompetent. He does not have one leadership trait. I would never follow him in combat. He would have a hard time making a decision on coffee at Starbucks before closing time if he got there at open. Then he would want someone else to pay for it.
With NATO (Need Another Ten Offenders) in the rebelsare sure to lose the fight against this MAD MAN. So much for some form of freedom. But without any leadership to take over it will be short lived.
I'll give the rebels $10 if they wave an American flag and sing God Bless America. Even if they don't mean it. $20 if they sing it while standing on their head
Maybe we can get 0bama to go over to Tripoli and proclaim himself King of Libya - he can stay in charge the rest of his natural life and we are rid of him. Pretty good idea don't you think?? We can deal with Biden for the next 550+ days and know that at the end we will have adults in charge.
There is no such thing as an Arab " good guy" . I mean, like, OUR culture is bad enough, but the ARAB culture with its control freak nature towards women and the mixing of Church and State, sucks big time
As proof I offer that the "good guys' in Cairo celebrated their "democracy" victory by gang raping Laura Logan on a downtown Cairo street
David, I concede that there is a lot of violence in the Arab world and I believe there is probably a correlation between the use of Islam to govern every part of their lives and the violence. However, your statement is incredibly immature and poorly thought out. The news we get from the Middle East only covers the violence that happens. Imagine news that would cover the United States where all we would hear about is women driving into a river with their children in the car, abortion clinic bombings, and the Westoboro Baptist church protesting our soldiers' funerals.
Finally, your proof is absurd. You cannot use an isolated event to define a whole movement.
please read this article, maybe if you try to inform yourself better, you will get a better sense of what's happening. Arabs are not bad, when it comes to gang raping. look at our own society here first. domestic violence here is amongst the highest in the "civilized world".
Yea the rebels have taken control of a border crossing but can they hold it. This will be a true test of their fighters. If they can then they can make some progress on getting supplies in so we wait to see if they can make it happen.
Obviously our President has no knowledge of war or he would not have made the stupid statement about protecting journalist. These journalist have and will get in the areas of fighting and are at risk just as anyone who is in the fight. They take the risk and know full well that death could happen at any time. They are trying to capture the story to tell the world as this is what they do and have done many, many times before. Although I think they are nuts I do have a high respect for what they do and always pray they make it through without be injured or killed but unfortunately some don't. Sad, but true.
Will the fighters free their country from this Despot? Only time will tell. Will they be any better then what they now have? Once again, only time will tell. One would hope so and peace would come to them.
It is a real hoot to see all the Obama haters go at it. It does not sem to matter what he does or does not do most here hate him period. Maybe all of the experts here should try to run this country. Maybe someone could for a change give a reasoned argument how we can hep the situation there. By the way, Southern Democrat, the pilot who was dragged through the streets and urinated upon was in Somalia not Libya. Look it up.
Whats even funnier or more appropriate... is alarming!... is the fact that it seems to evade people that a U.S. president is not a dictator nor is the presidency a dictatorship. Its as if they truly believe there are no lengthy discussions among staff and cabinet from both parties on such matters,as well influence from a bi partisan congress and senate. Evil Old Obama just waves his scepter and says charge and they all charge off. LOL.
It is alarming. While people are willing to die for what he have (had), we watch as our presidency is degraded and becomes a farce in plain view of the rest of the world.
No matter what, Americans should respect the office if not the man. He's only there for a limited amount of time, and he was fairly and legally elected.
People who have nothing better to do than name calling (as if President Obama monitors the Vine) need to spend time in a country where the leader is there for your entire life, like it or not.
Your complaint of it could be worse is one of the worst argument in the world.
The argument is how to make it better .
The agrument of how to make it better is only allowed when the people are in control of government and the officials are not bought .
This gets down to the problem .
The problem is the purchase of political positions and the approval of the Same by the Supreme Court. Plus , the purchase of these positions by keeping secret all or part of the those purchasing the positions .
We can not stop this unless we take back the vote and change the system .
The way to do this is either violently which is preferred against the tricksters who will only defeat the process if this is done peacefully , or peacefully by Constitutional Amendment .
The basis for this is the Internet . There is no reason why bills can not be voted for on the Internet by the people . This would include the making of all laws and the administration of the laws can be done by politicians . The only way politicians should be allowed to step in is if there is not enough money or unclear policy for national defense and or national emergency .
As cell phone and I pad s are now out their practically everyone in the next 5 years will be on the Internet one way or another . Nusing homes , Hospital , and Care facilities could have Internet terminals. Instead of watching TV in the next 5 year we will be watching the Internet only . ( Except Cable TV for a while)
So, how much respect did those of you defending Obama offer Bush? Were you out saying, well he's the president and we should at least respect the office? Didn't think so. Amusing that you want respect for the office with Obama and didn't give a shiney damn for the office when Bush occupied it.
Nope, it is based on observation. So, you a big fan of Bush? You respected the office over the man? Bush was one of the more villified presidents and very few if any remarks about respecting the office over the man were mentioned during and after his presidency. In fact the 'blame Bush' mantra was used over and over, not only by Obama's supporters but often by Obama himself.
myGirl, valid points re: villifying Bush, but the differences between Iraq and the current Lybia situation are, to say the least, very different.
The corollary to your point is to ask how many people who are criticizing Obama for spending 25 million to help Libyan civilians (allegedly) stood by in silience while Bush's occupation of Iraq cost 25 million every 2 hours??
It's like asking how many republicans who are now sounding off about deficit spending sent 8 deficit spending bills to Bush without so much as a whimper. These questions are valid to ask if we are ever going to free ourselves from the mind destroying illness that is political partisanship.
mygirl1 - I had and still do have a great deal of respect for President Bush. Read his book. Even voted for him. I will never have disrespectful words for anyone who is elected President of this country. That's a very hard and and VERY misunderstood position.
I found your off-the-cuff assumption about me offensive by the way, but won't lose sleep over it, as I'll just make the assumption you are an adolescent.
Rory -- war has not been declared. In fact, the last time war was declared was WWII.
This is a UN mandate, not a declaration of war. Why is this so hard to understand? Before you comment about congressional authority, perhaps you should enlighten yourself a little?
It is precisely because I respect the Office of President that I condemn the person who is presently staining it by his words and actions.
I've also lost all respect for the UN. They proclaimed a no-fly zone over Libya, but can't enforce it. Foreign aircraft continue to violate Libyan airspace and attack Libyan citizens with impunity, raining death from the skies on the legitimate forces of the Libyan government. That interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign member state is a direct violation of the UN charter.
Gadaffi has too much blood on his hands and he needs to go........Sooner or later he will run out ot money to pay his goon squad and they will turn on him and his family and that will be the end of this story.........Some things are worth fighting for ,I believe the ouster of Gadaffi is one of those things.
I am surprised that there have not been more defections from Gadaffi supporters. But when that happens - and soon I hope - it will be over very quickly. I believe that the US administration are doing eveything they can short of voting with US boots on the ground - fair enough.
how exciting !!!!....they took the town.!!! ...Then what? shoot in the air for a spell ( i keep hoping one of them will hit Allah) and then pose for the cameras, then haul butt outta there and holler help us NATO they are shooting at us..... so whats new?
i just payed my bills today because tomorrow is a "holiday" just the basics mind you, house, Power and water, and gas. i cant afford anything else, and wisely never had a credit card in over 50 years, a new car is a mere pipe dream. " i have about 25 bucks left but that willl be gone when i put it in my gas tank.
yep we really need to "support these buffoons alright, there and everywhere else in the Mideast. we surely don't need that money here. (HEAVY sarcasm.)
I certainly objected to the illegitimate Iraq war, joe mota, didn't you? This is no different. It is wrong, evil, meddling in sovereign Libyan internal affairs that are none of our business. It is particularly evil to be funding al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood terrorists with American taxpayer dollars.
The French will teach the rebels how to wave a white flag, the Italians how to change governments (or have sex with a teenage hooker), the Brits how to get drunk and be obnoxious. Some help!!!!!!
Whose fault it is to create thousands of refugees on a mission to give power in the hand of these few old retired military rebellions? It is the fault of few warmonger leaders of our country and the NATO, an institution of a collection of belligerent minds.
Instead of peace process NATO and US has created the environment for fierce fighting. A small fling of fighting has turned into the full fledge of wild fire because of them.
I suggest the rebels to sit on the negotiation table than to stand over the dead bodies of their comrades and cry forever for this.
No leader in the world will sit around and congratulate the invader of their country, they will fight to death, and everyone knows it. When NATO started bombarding it was sure that Gadhafi will intensify forces, so stop complaining about it. If it rights for USA, it is right for Gadhafi.
Oh, NATO doesn’t give data for human deaths; stop shedding your crocodile tears, because you have created this yourself, violating the peace process in the world. Do you think a free nation is not worthy even for few weeks to settle its internal matter, and you jumped into it with your bombarding? Why? Because you think you are collection of bunch of bully nations?
NATO, you have created human disaster everywhere as far as we know. It is time for you to stand in the trial on the international court!
You are telling us you are protecting civilians with the rain of bombarding. Except you and your buddies no one will believe it.
You are made of with colonial powers, you have assaulted on the freedom of every nation, without giving warning to them, without giving proper time for them to settle down their fights, without thinking what it is going to cost to the world’s wealth and morals? You have to stand on trial to answer for your crimes.
I wonder why the deaths of thousands of Libyans are not worth as few journalists of a powerful nation! What humanity NATO is planning to save when it has created such human tragedy, such disparity?
Now NATO has to do three things unconditionally: 1 apologize to Libyan people for bringing in intolerable pain to their earth, and for assaulting their nation on a hypothetical assumption, 2. dismantle the no-fly zone for good, and never ever again to use on any nation, and 3 proceed for the peaceful negations keeping in mind to save the real human suffering than a hypothetical threat presented by some aggressive bullies. Then only the real democracy and freedom can be restore in this world.
While I will agree there are those out there who hate President Obama there are others who don't. I for one dislike what he and our Federal Government has done to us. And I will also admit here that yes, this started long before he came into office under other president including Clinton and Bush but still continues under him. We have nearly been destroyed by big business and big finance not only here but world wide. I personnally lost half of my retirement savings because of these thieves and have not seen our government going after these crooks but instead they bail them out with my tax money. Has anyone, anyone at all been charged or tried for what they have taken from us? Has there been any attemp to get any of our money back? Hell no and there is no indication that there will be. No instead they give us a paltry $250.00 to help us. Well, that sure went a long way. Why didn't they instead give every TAXPAYER (YOU KNOW THOSE WHO ACTUALLY PAY TAXES) 30 or 40 thousand dollars apiece. Lets see, what would we have done with that. Oh, I know. Those that were close to forclosure would have got their mortgage caught up. Paid up their other bills and probably went out and bought more goods such. Gee, this might have brought more people back into the employment roles and more money would have flowed through the country. No, instead they bailed out business and finance who instead getting the money flowing again sit on it to this day. People with high credit ratings have to fight for months on end to secure a mortgage to buy a house that they can afford. And we still have some in Washington saying they should be loaning money to those inquetionable positions to pay a mortgage back. The very thing that got our mortgage and housing industry in the trouble their in now. CEOs and other executives are getting big bonus again while we out here are struggling to get by. Gas price the same in the area all around us. Not a penny difference. Think some one isn't setting the prices when it use to be so different. Credit rating and income level being used to set your insurance rate. (the lower your credit rating and the lower your income the higher your premium is) Used to be judged on your driving and accidents Good driving record. Lower premiums. Bad driving record. Higher premiums. Got a previous medical condition. Denied medical insurance or pay more then you mortgage payment to get insurance. (this has changed since the new law has come into effect)
Yes, people do hate Obama. Others dislike him. And others like him. Me I'm fed up with him and his socialist policies he is ramming down our throats. The Federal Government is into controlling to much in our lives and keeps getting deeper into our wallets. By our very Constitution they are suppose to be limited but that limit keeps getting pushed farther out. We see our government keep nosing into other countries problems such as what is going on now. We did what we were asked to do in Libya until NATO and the UN could get set up. Now let them and the Arab League and the African Nations do what is a problem in their area not ours.
I am so tired of both our Republican and Democratic Parties. They have lost sight of what they are suppose to do. They no longer represent US, the American People, but sure seem to represent big business and finance. And we keep elcting these peole to let them keep doing this to us but this last election a movement, good or bad, has started to remove them and put new peole in who are going to cut, cut, cut this government. We will see how this goes and if they can keep us out of conflicts we have no business being involved in.
Jim: Eisenhauer's parting speech made mention of the fact that the military industrial complex was gaining control of the country. He gave a warning, unheeded, back in the fifties. Since then it has grown to monumental proportions, as have plutocratic interests. The American populace has been duped for generations by both parties, they are but two sides of the same coin.
nibor: there are many in love with the celebrity in office. The media adores him. He is their messiah. He can do no wrong in their eyes, and anyone who points out his flaws is excoriated and called racist, bigot, redneck hater, etc. This is deliberate. Obama is an empty suit, men like Soros and Sunstein pull his strings. Bush was another empty suit, but, unlike Obama, he wasn't ashamed of America and did want to see the country succeed. Obama wants to turn the US into a larger version of Europe, governmental control over everything with him sitting at the top of the control room.
mygirl, I'm beginning to understand you, at least a little. Your feelings toward Obama are similar to my feelings toward Sarah Palin be they justified or not. You can go and rant about him as much as you like. Call him anything you like, indulge in conspiracy theories and speculation about his inner thoughts and motivations. The only thing I'll do is try to point our factual errors that I'm aware of. I understand you're a fan of facts as am I.
You can't "charge" the banks. It looks like most of government regulation was designed to allow folks to buy houses they could not afford and encourage banks to lend. If they were following the rules, I can't see charging them .
Joe: Sarah Palin is not the president of the United States. She wields no power. She cannot send troops into harm's way and doesn't set policy. I don't spend a great deal of energy on her, unlike the media who loathes her. I do believe she believes in what she says.
mygirl1, thanks for pointing out the difference between the empty suits of Bush and Obama, very well put. But I would say there was also another huge difference. Bush was not a Marxist and Obama is.
The German General Erwin Rommell aka the Desert Fox , greatest battles were in Africa . My father of Bless Memory was on the USS Manhasset and has a troop landing vehicle that he steered to the Beach ( African Invasion WW!!) which was disabled. He had to accompany different Army Unit on the ground while awaiting the USS Manhasset to reacquire him . Just saying Rommel name was an event for my Blessed father . He stopped and would not go on after saying Rommel's name . The point is that fighting a desert war or a war in Africa has it own set of obstacles for any command.
It is really a losing propositon without solid military leadership. To wit , having former Iraqi fighters who may have fought for the Sadman and others who have this kind of military background is necessary for the rebels to win , especially against a Merc controlled Military which is their opposition . This is not to say I approve of any of this . Involvement in this area was and should be as the UN objective states to stabilize the area . Libya is a oil rich country and so is Tunisia . They both share gas pipelines to Europe under the Med to Sicily . The beneficary of this is the E.U. and Europe . I really do not see a vested interest for the USA in this.
Every day it becomes easier and easier to harbor disgust for that sand pit AND it's inhabitants. The spread of your hateful and vindictive religion is sickening, if we leave your country(s) will you leave ours?
I think it is a good idea for you to leave our country .
I would like to leave too , but I nether have a good command of Hebrew or another Lang. to leave and or have the resources to do so.
My reasons are different from yours as I see complete corruption of everything in the country by evil men and woman . Everything is being bought here , This also includes the entitlements that others have . So in effect what is being bought is actually stolon from rightful owners and sold by corrupt politicians who are also bought and paid for . This is a country of the extreme rich and they not the religion ,which is their pawn , make the laws . These individuals pretend to be G-d fearing but are in fact G-d less . You problem is you hate the religion only . My problem is in all the religions that support this elitism and corruption act to bring more of the same upon us .
The usage of the word "your " country and you being hear shows you harbor do not consider any part in this country as being yours. I say my country despite the fact of the corruptions . I am made by G-d not to divorce this country despite it corruptions . I still own it Lang as an investment and its culture by being conditioned to it . It is hard to break out of a situation when it is completely wrong without help . This was true in the Holocaust . I don't think you would care about this , but Jews are prohibited from inter marriage . When Hitler started rounding up Jews and stealing their property and taking away their jobs and land , he also passed a decree saying that Jews are not to intermarry with them . Our Rabbi 's screwed up and conveyed the idea that this was OK with them as it was a Jewish prohibition anyway . The point is their focus should have been getting all the Jews out of Europe instead of a pretense that there was only the marriage question . The point is those stuck like me by limits on resources are given hope by such statements . The point here is there is little hope in this corrupt country , not in their religion .
While I too find that the Christian religion as being New laws to change G-d's Old laws is phony to me , according to my religion , I have been set here to live here till there is time to be called home to Israel . This means giving my loyalty to the Land of G-d's choosing for me ,except if they will not allow me certain rights which make me a slave and or not be able to practice my religion . You hate their religion . I take it as a joke to some degree .
This degree has to do with a religion that is meant for a State to be primary instead of the spiritual laws. was set up this way with their own Administrative State . The problem here is this a stepping stone to what is Jerusalem which is the Temple Site which the Moslem's have built over , namely your religion.
It become real confusing to me when there is so many obstacles to spiritual unification . You find disgust in the Christian religion . OK , but there religion is better than having none at all. Further , having a discussion with them on the Old Testament which they call the Old Testament is possible , so G-d allows a bridge for them to change . They accept the Old Testament as Laws which their g-d did not negate but allowed to be circumvented by New Laws .
As such they make the same mistake you as a Muslim make they study things from the point of view of their prophet first and G-d's laws second .
Just as you place a Mosque on top of the Home of G-d and G-d is hidden or not allowed to assume His Home in the Temple by this . Your religion places a obsticles to all of the Laws of G-d , and even to Israel . This home of G-d is on the Temple Mount and is the Temple under it . This is not a place for the worship of your Phophet but to dig up the Temple under it . This was the selected place for the Home of G-d , not any of His Prophets . If you read what the Christian call the Old Testament , we , the Jews , have been commanded by G-d with specific directions on how to build this Temple which shall be HIS residing Place of The G-d on this Earth .
Although I personally favor Semites because of their view of G-d as G-d and none other , not a Prophet as G-d , or to call a son of G-d , G-d is absurd . .In the case of having a prophet as the source for Law this too is aburd , but in both case they are better than alternatives , which is not being aware of G-d and some G-d's more important .laws. You should leave as you are a hater of Christians totally . You can;t live here is you have so much hatred of the majority religion of this country . So return if you can as you can. .
Let god do his/her thing. Whoever wants to be a muslim and be enslaved to the religion, that's their choice. And for God allowing whatever you said, I just couldn't read you jibberish.
Stop preaching and let it be, Jerusalem will take care of itself.
make no mistake about this "war" Libya has its' own national bank and currency based on the Gold standard.. They have tons of Gold and told the Fed no more Dollars or Euros for oil .Guess what the world wide money changers said to that statement... Support the rebels and create a fed central bank before they knew who the rebels were... Destroy Libya take the oil and gold expand the fed central bank ..change to the worthless dollar standard and make them credit slaves.
Libya with all of it's faults is not a debtor nation it has a gold surplus... The money changers do not like to be challenged and sent in their paid military to "correct" the Libyans thinking.
Who runs the world? How did the Rebels manage to set up a central bank and nationalize the oil ports?
You make an interesting and true point about Hitler ' rounding up Jews and taking their land'. Interesting , because that is exactly what happened to the Native North American Nations . The descendents of the 'rounded up' , who survived (98% didn't) still live in internment camps called 'reservations' , while everyone else enjoys their inheritance. Just a 'sidenote' and yes, the USA should butt -out of Libya and clean up it's own backyard.
Have you paid attention to those Libyan "freedom lovers" (who should be called MF thugs) with long beards and thought a single moment as who are they in reality? Have you paid attention that those thugs from the beginning of their "freedom fighting" have never uttered a single word as what do they want (political, economical, social demands to Libyan government) and since they started their "revolt" they have only one slogan for Qaddafi "relinquish your power?" Haven't you information that certain world powers have "worked" in Lybia, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and in Arab world for months and years teaching their youth how to make revolts against their government, how to fight and topple their legitimate governments?
Have you paid attention that UN Resolution N 1700 has actually sealed Qaddafi's and his family's fate which is forbidding any country in the world to host Qaddafi and members of his family and Qaddafi and his family members have no other choice than to fight for their lives? Haven't you paid attention that this is a straight aggression against a sovereign country (Lybia) by some International powers to topple its legitimate government in order to install there their puppets?
After all this events are you still surprized as why Iran, North Korea and others try to obtain nuclear weapons to defend themselves from this kind of aggression and meddling in their internal affairs by foreign powers who want to "democratize" and "civilize" them? If US is not trying to further tarnish its image and standing in the world as a pillar of aggression and warmongering because of Iraq and Afghanistan, then it should leave Lybia alone which is fighting its Civil War. Lybians, and only Lybians have the right to decide their destiny.
only Lybians have the right to decide their destiny
well, the Libyans and Obama but that is mincing fine details. This is all the Libyans fault. If they hadn't outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood and just turned the government over to them, Obama wouldn't have attacked them.
stop the nonsense, if these countries are enjoying being ruled by one man and his family why are they fighting? They are tired of being told what to do by some guy at the top. Fight! Fight for your rights muslims women and some men. Women in those countries are like trash, just have the babies and shut up.
I am sure happy I was not born in that religion full of hate and control where you can stone your sister or mother to death if she fell in love with some other than what the men in the family "want" or think you should have. It sucks to be a muslim woman, I grew around them, but what a site. There men screwing around with multiple women, and there poor wives at home cooking and cleaning and pretending to be happy.
only thethe libyans have the right to decide their own destiny
Let's see how far we can take this. Only the Nazis can decide their own d esitny. Only the Jews can decide their owndestiny..Only the Palestinans can decide their own destiny..
Eveyrone acts as if their destiny is an indivual vacuum only they can fill..neglecting the interdepeece of people.
If the libyans have to flee to escape their destiny is enterwined with the refugee hosts..If Gaddafi chooses to trade for weapons of mass destruction this surely affect others..or uses mustrad gas of which he has stockpiles.
Iwould argue that this is a useless arguement...What is done affect sthe whole neighborhood-indeed the whole planet-If nothing at all what happened in Tunisia and Egypt and Libya should at leat teach this truth ,if nothing else. There are common bonds and aspirations transcending individual nations..and they cannot be denied.
It wont be an easy task for external intervention to solve the conflict in Libya. Libyans are divided into two groups and it is not possible to satisfy both sides of the dipute. Only if they come together and negotiate among themselves what they want to be done with their government and its leader. Why can`t they follow a simple example Egyptians have just set to the world? Mostly if not always, there is opposition, what matters is its strength because majority rules. The rebels and Gaddafi forces should re-consider the situation because fighting will NOT AT ALL solve the problem, rather destroy the infrastructure, economy of the country and cause the UNTIMELY DEATHS of many people. The solution for this country`s problem is in the hands of its people. IN UNITY, THEY CAN OVERCOME WHATEVER PROBLEM.
We beat 'em. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Ummmm.........we did?????
Who's "we"?????
Who's "'em"??????
Who did we "beat"??????
What mission was accomplished???
What did we "win"?????
Please elaborate.
Obama is an idiot! How the H*ll are journalists to be protected when they intermingle w/ fighting rebels?
We the People of Libya took the crossroads! Victory is Ours.
We the People of Libya took $25 million from stupid Americans! Victory is Ours
I just hope that this money is worth it! for a better new good change in Libyia.
in reality no one will know why US gave them money? or what US Gov. have in mind! nothing comes for free today but we will see...
Maxeemas
You are right nothing comes for free these days. It all seems to come out of the tax payer's pockets at the whim of our politicians.
Why the double standard?
The Bush(1) watch is not entirely clean either...
He should have kept on resisting. As Commander in Chief of the US Military he should have a few military advisors and strategists on hand, wouldn't you agree? His own Secretary of Defense, Gates, has gone on record stating that he doesn't approve of the current Libyan strategy and, in fact, has stated that he is stepping down this summer.
mygirl1,
I am a Vietnam Volunteer, and I understand something about our ability to command the country side.
The Libyan Revolution is one of the great revolutions that will change the
Middle East, and God be with the Rebels who will make it happen It will
be in the best interest of all in this World.
Just more hypocritical action from the liar in chief. IMPEACH the bastard now!
When do we start the impeachment hearings/proceedings?
This would of already been over if we and Nato wouldnt of stuck our noses in a civil war.
ALL the deaths that are happening now should rest on Nato and Obama for doing what they did.
God is nowhere to be found with the rebels.....lol....If by god you mean the US then OK, but these rebel retards could not do anything on there own. As soon as a gunshot is herd they jump in there pick ups and run. The US should not even be there.
Svenolafson,
If we had any real leaders in congress it would have already been started.
Phyllis,
One of the great things about this nation is the freedom for people to say what they want, even if it is stupid and uninformed.
Any General can lead a war, but not any community organizer can be a General and lead a war.
...beginning to sound more like Vietnam everyday?????
WE NEED TO start recalling any politician who wants to send millions of dollars of our money or equipment to a foreign country as if we are BIG DADDY RICH.
Obama is totally out of control.
Giovanni -
ITS TIME TO IMPEACH OBAMA.
I support the troops - I don't support a president who puts them in harm's way without Congressional approval - per the Constitution.
Three words: Nobel, Peace and Prize.
Derek
Too late for Drones.
We are no longer respected by others, even our US citizens as one can see by the remarks on the Newsvine blogs.
the real reason is this, Nobama the Clown has a snowball's chance in hell of getting congress to go along with any type of admitted military action on the ground. he was lucky they havent started impeachment procedings. i know for fact if he went and commited troops openly (like we dont have the CIA there now) congress would have a field day whipping that tool right out of office, and cant say i'd blame them 1 bit.
Obama will probibly win another NOBEL Peace Prize.........
Another illegal war. Media all quiet. What's the cost, what's the "exit" strategy...........
media is good at giving $lowjobs......
JH thinks I'm a LEFTY? ROTFLMAO! He's a prime example of why foaming at the mouth radicals from the left AND right have no relationship to reality. I love it.
"Armed Drones"??? Do they have goofy, tattoos and play video games all day long??
Bizzzy, Bizzy, Busy, USMC beeS!!!
Sempir Fidelis!
Only,a very few, and a few, very brave can speak Latin!
Waaaann cilll! So press the button and defend our Kayuntry!
Good move. Send in the drones.
Taking the border crossing with Tunisia opens up a new pathway for aid and supplies to western Libya.
Bombs are starting to drop on Libya.
Gadhafi and his Newsvine supporters may start getting nervous before too long.
Rory3566--- post 1.3- you are right, it is obvious. your comment has twice as many likes as any other on this thread and it will never be one of the 3 highlighted comments under the article. you see, mslsd is nothing more than a water carrier for the obama administration. this is a pure state propaganda news source. no one who can read and understand english can dispute this. this is another sad day for america, something we have all felt on a regular basis under the dictator marxist the liberals love so much. drones in libya, how come this man is not charged with murder? how come congress allows him funding for this putrid occupation of a foreign nation that poses no threat to any americans? worst president ever, even worse than bush.
tutu, your post reeks of kool aid.
Skynet approves.
Bryan:
the simple fact is that Obama did not even seek congressional approval or NATO approval to bomb a soverign nation.
In actions alone, what is the difference between what President Obama did on March 18, 2011, and what was done at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941?
tutu
hate to be the bearer of bad news to ya tutu, but you might want to set your jug of kool aid down before you read further.
you see... when you grab a bunch of navy ships, airforce gunships, you head over to some country that isnt yours, send several volly's of missles into the country hitting stratigic targets, launch fighter jets, to shoot down that countries fighter jets, and then drop bombs on that very same country.... it is called WAR.
Semper fi: Too late, he's already pledged 25 million to the rebels and earlier, March 25, he deployed 2,200 marines as 'support' for the effort.
Death by scope creep.
Obama suppporters are literally wearing egg on their face having elected this guy....
Close Gitmo - lied
Abate War - really really lied (like a lot)
Reduce Federal Spending - ha ha ....cash for clunkers/healthcare for all???!!!!
"Read my Lips" no raising tax - lied
Deal with the deficit - AFTER rep. caucus forced him to (NOTHING 2 yrs prior)
I can only imagine the uproar if Bush had done this...quite hypocritical
just---True,True,True ETC. and moral of your story ----BUSH/OBOMBA their birds of a feather. IMPEACH OBOMBA
Impeachment is for those that can't wait. Seems the norm for any of em' these days anyway, and is just one more way to waste tax $$$ Gio.
I can wait. In the meantime - just how much more damage can this clown do?
And now all we hear is MORE "Bush was worse" "Cleaning up after Bush" - what a joke, especially when this is the best they have to say for him.
Sem Fi,
I agree with you, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Arab League and OAU step it up a little.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Arab League and OAU step it up a little...
Well, it's like this, why should they when they can direct the US and nato to do their dirty work?
"up to $25 million in surplus American goods" Not cash.
we also confiscated far more then that from Ghadafi... money that he stole from the people... so in reality, which i know is a world you try to ignore as often as possible... we are giving them their money back.
Common practice by the military.
really sandrich? really? how did we get those goods? steal em? no the government bought them. probably at "rock bottom" prices like a 10 grand toilet cover" able to move both up AND down,or a 5 grand "nail driving device".
we bought them with lybia's money, they are AMERICAN made goods! by doing this they have invested 25 million dollars back into the economy! don't be so thick skulled as to not be able to look at the whole picture
which will be sold to whatever terrorist group for cash.
I have read enough of your Tea Party rancor.
so concerned citizen
leaving go for the moment that its being paid for by Libya, which is absurd, exactly how many dinar's does it take to buy a hand-grenade?
a $175 US grenade would cost about 210.12 LYD. We took about 30 Billion US Dollars when we froze his acounts... most of that is going towards NATO's effort, but you miss my point that giving them $25 million of AMERICAN GOODS is like someone going out and spending 25 million dollars in the US. Somebody had to make those goods...
$25 million? what are we sending them some airforce toilet seats? hahaha
michael, you moron, the 25 million is humanitarian assisstence from surplus stocks, not money. 25 million was spent every 2 HOURS of the Iraqui occupation at its peak. every 2 hours of every day for 4 years. did you complain about that?
LOL.... good one Gary!!
So Obama is what? Guess he had to get his feet wet somehow. Don't disagree with you re the Bush administration but, you left out Rumsfeld.
It is just to dangerous and is literally destroying America.
agreed
oh rory... dweeb? i haven't heard that one in a long time
Increasingly, news videos from the conflict are showing rebels hollering "Allah u Akbar" when they fire rockets and grenades at their own people.
Spread on ignorance, spread on!
<*sarcasm*>
I could use some of it to pay my morgage or at least afford Gas with it!!!
Gas prices are mounting but we have 25 M. to give away just like that! God grant me patience
hotticket, 25 million was spent every 2 hours during the height of the Iraq occupation. Bush's invasion cost 16,000 times more than the current 25 million.
Glad he gave them $25 million aid..if no $$$ those who print it would be laid-off..see he's saving jobs! WTG
Yeah, I don't think that will help the deficet. I'm not a politician though.
Wow, Joe, that is really a great justification to spend more! Thanks for the enlightenment.
lunch, just pointing out a fact to give you guys some perspective. the 25 million is just an excuse for you guys to whine, the impact on the deficit in indetectable beneath the flucuations in exchange rates.
WHY are we there?
this is obamas vietnam!
at least GWB had a defector lie to him and say there were WMD's.
so what are we sending aid and money to al-queda operatives for? Didnt we learn our lessons from the Russian Afgan war? we supplied them with money and weapons to fight the russians and they wound up using them against US!!
now we are giving KNOWEN ENEMIES OF OUR COUNTRY money and weapons in hopes of taking out a guy we hate, but hasnt done anything to us personally.
we are treading in really murkey waters here, and we could wind up getting something we wont like or need!
so where are the liberials who said GWB invaded iraq for the oil?
there is more proof now than ever that lybia is oil rich and nations are only helping the rebels for the oil!
aint that right france?!
How naive can you get, thinking it is some sort of revelation that France is in t it for the oil. Well duh!!NEXT you'll be surprised when someone on Wall Street actually wants gas to go to $5!
$5 gas guarantees that 0bama is a 1 term POTUS - I will suck it up and pay up to $10 per gallon to get rid of this useless piece of garbage.
black belt: Watch, around the time of the elections a miracle will happen and gasoline prices will plummet. You can take that one to the bank.
Bryan
We invaded Afghaistan first not Iraq.
OMG really,
Guess you forgot pan am 103!
So, how do we believe the Pan AM bombing wasn't a CIA job just like the 9-11 was like all you libtards claim??
Black_Belt3
You are right on Obama is incompetent. He does not have one leadership trait. I would never follow him in combat. He would have a hard time making a decision on coffee at Starbucks before closing time if he got there at open. Then he would want someone else to pay for it.
With NATO (Need Another Ten Offenders) in the rebelsare sure to lose the fight against this MAD MAN. So much for some form of freedom. But without any leadership to take over it will be short lived.
NATO: Never Attack Too Offensively
No Action; Talk Only.
NATO is short for New World Order /One World Government---Google New world Order
I'll give the rebels $10 if they wave an American flag and sing God Bless America. Even if they don't mean it. $20 if they sing it while standing on their head
How about getting Roseann Barr over there to help teach them to sing it
Maybe we can get 0bama to go over to Tripoli and proclaim himself King of Libya - he can stay in charge the rest of his natural life and we are rid of him.
BARACK OBAMA. Half Arab. So he's half bad guy half good guy? lol
The first Arab American voted into the Oval Office.
Edward, so following your logic you could not use the crucifixion of Christ for the creation of Christianity?
Therefore your statement is incredibly immature and poorly thought out!
Hello david,
please read this article, maybe if you try to inform yourself better, you will get a better sense of what's happening.
Arabs are not bad, when it comes to gang raping. look at our own society here first. domestic violence here is amongst the highest in the "civilized world".
thank you.
And there are no rapes and abused women in our adult civilized democratic country? What a jerk statement to make. And here we go into yet another war.
LOL.
Obama must have missed the memo.
How do you know this mygirl? Thats a defintive statement based on random speculation.
That interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign member state is a direct violation of the UN charter.
.
Dave # 17.13 - What about the War on Drugs. Now there's a war we can win, someday. A change we can believe in!
I believe that the US administration are doing eveything they can short of voting with US boots on the ground - fair enough.
how exciting !!!!....they took the town.!!! ...Then what? shoot in the air for a spell ( i keep hoping one of them will hit Allah) and then pose for the cameras, then haul butt outta there and holler help us NATO they are shooting at us..... so whats new?
anouther 25 million eh?
i just payed my bills today because tomorrow is a "holiday" just the basics mind you, house, Power and water, and gas. i cant afford anything else, and wisely never had a credit card in over 50 years, a new car is a mere pipe dream. " i have about 25 bucks left but that willl be gone when i put it in my gas tank.
yep we really need to "support these buffoons alright, there and everywhere else in the Mideast. we surely don't need that money here. (HEAVY sarcasm.)
Scooter, 25 million was spent during the Iraq occupaton every 2 hours. did you ever find that alarming?
I certainly objected to the illegitimate Iraq war, joe mota, didn't you? This is no different. It is wrong, evil, meddling in sovereign Libyan internal affairs that are none of our business. It is particularly evil to be funding al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood terrorists with American taxpayer dollars.
The French will teach the rebels how to wave a white flag, the Italians how to change governments (or have sex with a teenage hooker), the Brits how to get drunk and be obnoxious. Some help!!!!!!
Obama will force them to get ObamaCare and teach them to tax camels.
Krishna: You have written an excellent post.
Just like NATO isn't providing air support for rebel military operations.
Point that person out. Obviously improper bong ventilation.
silly nibor... you don't vent a bong, you need a good seal
Yes, I want facts over emotional responses.
mygirl1, thanks for pointing out the difference between the empty suits of Bush and Obama, very well put.
The spread of your hateful and vindictive religion is sickening, if we leave your country(s) will you leave ours?
not possible until after the next presidential election.
So return if you can as you can. .
May there be Peace between Us
Ooow! Come on Chuck!
The US a terrorist nation. period. NATO is the biggest terrorist organization on earth.
Paul: You pose some very interesting points.
Chuck,
You make an interesting and true point about Hitler ' rounding up Jews and taking their land'.
Lybians, and only Lybians have the right to decide their destiny.
well, the Libyans and Obama but that is mincing fine details. This is all the Libyans fault. If they hadn't outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood and just turned the government over to them, Obama wouldn't have attacked them.
TruthANBT
stop the nonsense, if these countries are enjoying being ruled by one man and his family why are they fighting? They are tired of being told what to do by some guy at the top. Fight! Fight for your rights muslims women and some men. Women in those countries are like trash, just have the babies and shut up.
I am sure happy I was not born in that religion full of hate and control where you can stone your sister or mother to death if she fell in love with some other than what the men in the family "want" or think you should have. It sucks to be a muslim woman, I grew around them, but what a site. There men screwing around with multiple women, and there poor wives at home cooking and cleaning and pretending to be happy.
