Americans need to push such cases to International Courts and then sue for a huge sum of money. Having the DOJ investigate and try the FBI, DEA, CIA, DHS etc. is simply a waste of money and time. Doesn't matter if the charges against those agents are Murder, Planting Evidence, Illegal wiretaps, Illegal Break-In's, etc. does not matter they are 'Above the Law' and America's Laws mean nothing to them in regards to those agents being charged, tried and convicted by them.
Such illegal actions by US police and government enforcement officials should and need to be brought to a International Court for Justice and Settlements.
When Laws and Justice do not apply equally to ALL, those that these evil agency's want only to apply to YOU are illegal.
America's Justice and Laws are CORRUPT, BROKEN and UNJUST. They are largely not applied to ALL, they are not enforced on ALL. Special interests are above the law and immune of the law while everyday America's are unjustly targeted with prejudice and heavy handed practices.
International courts?? Are you serious? What makes you think the international courts are just in their rulings? Or are you just another person who thinks anything American is corrupt?
You did make one very valid point though- the DOJ under Eric Holder & the Obama administration is a farce.
If you would know of this families past they have direct ties to Al Queda. They just didn't pick a person because of his religion or location.
And all who yell about the unjust laws are also the first ones to complain about how they didn't stop 9/11. And if your family has ties to that part of the mE then you deserved to be followed.
Ohh, and the DOJ under Ashcroft and Bush made torture legal, so the Republican legal system is just as sketchy. If you had happened to actually read the story, he was an American Citizen.
Coats, Being an American citizen doesn't mean he won't blow your ace up. Several have gone over seas to kill American soldiers, and a couple have already done that here. Don't forget, it was a Democrat president, Clinton, who put Bush in a position to do whatever it took to keep this country out of harms way again. Obama's doing a good job of destroying that.
if American laws are so corrupt and horrible, why do you torture yourself to stay here. I would be glad to contribute to a fund that would take you to any other country you choose, provided that they will allow idiots to enter their country.l
If you have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about it. Most cars come with onstar and it can be activated at anytime weather you pay for it or not. I would hope that if this matter ever came to a vote we all would feel safer if we know the government is doing everything in is power to keep us safe. If you're a target there must have been a good reason. Traveling over sea's on regular bases should draw attention to your self, any race and any religion this is a difficult time for this nation and I don't see it getting a safer anytime soon
Egyptian-American says he's never done anything to warrant being monitored.
Which is just what someone who needs to be monitored would say!
I have an idea, why don't we monitor everyone? Have 1/2 of the population monitoring the other half and vice-versa. When we can no longer get any work done we'll all starve to death, then there won't be anyone left to have to worry about protecting from the terrerists (misspelling on purpose).
When our government has the time and resources to track ordinary citizens while running multi-trillion dollar deficits, it's time to cut the budget.
A Smith; this is my country not the governments. They are regulated by law as we all are. An individual in government violates the laws of the land they need to be punished just as if they were real citizens. We are not subjects of the government. If any one leaves it is the tyrants watering the roots of the tree of liberty. The Consitution and the Declaration of Independance is the foundation of our country.
Hopeful--The guy is having his legal case paid for by CAIR--proven to be the Muslim Brotherhood's arm in America. If they don't like our laws then let them go back to the Middle East and enjoy their beloved Sharia.
The Danes have the right idea. Muslims are such a drain on their social services that they are paying them approx $20K each US to GO HOME!
I understand the government needs to investigate people but they also need to have rules and procedures for them to follow. If you think it's okay because he is Egyptian-American or a Muslim, then you are wrong. All citizens are supposed to be guaranteed the same rights; or do you want to rewrite the constitution and the bill of rights?
Such illegal actions by US police and government enforcement officials should and need to be brought to a International Court for Justice and Settlements.
Illegal actions? Where did you come up with the notion that it was done illegally?
This is old news. I saw this last year, with pictures...the thing was the size of a brick. Old...cold war era old. And I believe it was his dads car...?
At any rate I still believe the FBI, CIA, or any other of your favorite govt bureaus, are skilled enough at their jobs, the device would not have been found by someone changing the oil. Sounds more like a get rich quick scheme to me.
By our laws -- and the Constitution (Bill of Rights) ---
Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
What do you expect? he's traveling back & forth all the time to and from Egypt, making an unusual amount of phone call's(maybe a momma's boy) which isn't a bad thing. I was a momma's boy. Anyway I,m a very distinct caucasion, and I certainly wouldn't move to a country where I couldn't blend in somewhat, especially when racism is rampant througout the world...I know he's an american,so why is his family in egypt...I'm no big fan of any police departments, but I don't think the F.B.I would bother him without some special evidence or reason. Like they don't have enough to do..
Someone 's 20 year old kid that i know, several years ago, he was a passenger in a car that was pulled over one night, well the kid swallowed a handfull of oxy cottins, the police let them go because the driver appeared to be o.k....2 hours later when the kid that swallowed the pills was dropped off at home died in his bed, from an overdose.... Well now the family wants to sue the police I think they are sueing the police dept, for not being more thorough and detecting the kid high on dope. .....I don't get involved in conversation with anybody, because they don't want to hear my opinion.
How is it the fault of the police dept?... My point being with these terrorist is The F.B.I. is damned if they do, and damned if they don,t.
Blondness- Yes, that is exactly what many people want. They won't admit it (usually), and will even scoff if you suggest it of them, but do not be fooled.
Remberasha- Research the Patriot Act- Read, learn, grow. This is the new America.
This is what happens when you fore-go due process and target someone any reason you damn well please. If being Muslim is the point of the tracking device being placed on his automobile, then place one on every Muslim's automobile and be done with it! I dont' care if he talks to his Mom in Egypt every night of the week! I talk with my Mom one state over every day of the week! Just go on, FBI, CIA and Homeland Security! Abuse The Patriot Act to tap his phones, install a super secret camera to watch him as he exits the shower, snap a shot of him drying his hair, and try to get some type of implant into/onto his body so he'll remain in the dark as to why he's being targeted or labeled a terrorist. While your at it, maybe you can give him the date rape drug and then practice a little of that medical research you're so fond of at the expense of riskng his life. Afterall, you ARE the Gov'ment and YOU have all the money and power against otherwise defenseless citizens.
They'd BETTER come up with probable cause and/or some evidence or THIS guy may have enough money to stay with the case through thick and thin and he's likely in it to WIN it!
Be AFRAID! BE VERY, VERY AFRAID! If you go on safari to Africa each year, make SURE you're not making friends on your trip. The next thing you know, YOU'LL be the once with a GPS tracking devise on your precious and VERY expensive Ashton Kutchner DB-110!
Guess the Feds couldn't just call OnStar on this one... Too bad! It would have been much cheaper.
This guy missed a great opportunity to F&@k with the Feds heads! He could have packaged the thing up & FEDEXed it to his family in Egypt with instructions for them to just send it back via UPS. What a great game of ping pong he could have had at the Feds expense. Wait a minute! What's this thing I just found attached to MY car? Hmmmmmmmm! Big Brother IS watching afterall. Too bad I don't know anybody in Egypt. I wonder if Zanzibar would work. I used to date a girl from there...
Tracking american citizens is unamerican. And any one that says if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about it, undoubtedly would be the first to object if there were national identity cards or a requirement to register their guns (if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about...)
This guy is right that he may not be guilty of anything that would require being tracked. But at the same time, having "extensive" ties to Egypt, making LOTS of calls and communications, sending money, travelling to the middle east, is going to raise some eybrows. Sorry Charley, as much as I stand by our consititutional rights to our freedoms, those types of actions and activities IS going to get you some unwanted attention. I would be a little pissed off if it didn't at least register on someones radar screen.
I really don't know where or how to draw the line as to when someones actions warrent tracking. But even to me, a strong opponent to violation of any civil liberties for any reason, I can accept that this guys activities would probably attract the attention of just about anyone that is watching out for potential harmful activities.
Wow, do you those who believe this guy think the government has nothing better to do than randomly watch and follow people? He was a person of interest for a reason. Back in 2001 the government didn't track a few that were acting quite suspiciously. People didn't want to assume something about a person because of where they were from. Now we have to in order to not get Americans killed. We are not infringing peoples' freedoms, just being wary of who we trust.
People do the same thing when they walk down the street. Keep any eye out for anyone who may cause harm to them. They do that solely on what the person looks like. The government does this too, but based upon who you talk to, where you travel (frequently) and if you get large sums of cash for unknown reasons. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like one...
A. Smith-1451820 "America's Justice and Laws are CORRUPT, BROKEN and UNJUST"
Yeah, they are much better in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Libya. Why don't you move there where you'll be treated much better, especially if you're a woman?
A recent finding concluded that a very large number of wiretaps by the FBI and other evil US agency's on American citizens were entirely ILLEGAL. Needless to say, no one is charged with a crime, dragged into court etc. After all it was the US Govt. breaking the law. An American citizen could easily receive 15 years in a Federal Prison PER count, FBI gets zero probably even a pay-raise!
For years a Portland, Oregon family has attempted to drag former CIA Director Bush sr. into court over the terrorist bombing murder of their journalist son. It appears the CIA were the one's planting that bomb and that Bush sr. planned and OK'd that attack on a international press meeting attended by a great many journalists and reports who were all 'blown-up'. No charges on these terrorist killers?
US Attorney General Eric Holder appears to be shielding and protecting a CIA contractor who is in the middle of a very large terrorist bombing of a Cuban Jetliner. Nearly as many civilian lives were blownup and killed AS those on the Pan-Am flight EXCEPT it appears the CIA were the bombers and used this CIA contractor to build and place that bomb. HE is now in court here in America of LIEING to immigration, NOT for blowing up a civilian jetliner! And the US Dept. of Justice appears to be shielding him from being extradited to Venezuela for trial on the many Venezuelan familys that lost loved ones on that flight. YEP, protecting that scum bag! Talking about HYPOCRITES!
And the Pakistani Courts ruled the Xe CIA Contractor of course had ZERO diplomatic immunity. He is NOT a US Federal State Dept. Employee so that was forgone, however Davis appears to have CIA provided forged and fake diplomatic immunity papers. He is charged with shooting two Pakistani ISI (Pakistan's clone of the CIA) agents in the back and then running up to both of them while they were 'down' and firing some 5 more bullets per person into each of them, killing them both.
A young wife of one of the Pakistani ISI agents subsequently committed suicide. A Pakistani civilian bystander was hit and killed by a CIA pick-up which Davis called and requested to help him, then sped off leaving that crushed Pakistani laying out in the roadbed.
US Senator John Kerry pretending to fly to Pakistan under the guise of explaining how the fake diplomatic papers on Davis were 'real' and how Pakistani should 'ignore' a Xe mercenary shooting two Pakistani ISI agents in the back as 'diplomatic immunity', hastily placed the three CIA agents onto his US Federal Jet and snuck out those criminals out of Pakistan without being tried in a Pakistani court for hit and run homicide of a Pakistani civilian.
Davis (Xe contracted Mercenary) is understandably is being held on trial for the murder of two Pakistani ISI agents and it appears Davis is criminally and monetarily liable for the suicide of the Pakistani wife of one of the shooting victims.
It's been two full years now since the largest Economic Robbery of the American people has ever occurred and yet not a single Jewish Banker nor Jewish Wall Street CEO has been charged nor brought to trial, dragged thru the streets, thrown into prison to rot for the rest of his evil life. NOT ONE and yet there appears to be zero doubt that enormous amounts of criminal fraud took place shifting trillions of America's dollars into a very small select few pockets.
HELL YES, America's Justice and Laws are utterly corrupt and do not apply to a wide range of 'special interests' Corporations, Officials and People of Interest. They can and do get away with stealing Billions, serial murders, slave trafficking, but for Joe or Jane Doe with few followers and little money saved, they have ten's of thousands of laws which they are likely not even aware of which all could place them into America's massive prison system.
Get a law dog or one of those aforementioned evil federal agency's officials DRUNK sometime and they'll spill their evil deeds and those of their fellow officers to you, don't be naive nor just another victim of injustice.
On October 6, 1976 a bomb exploded on Cubana Airlines flight 455, blowing it out of the sky and into the waters off Barbados, killing everyone on board, including Fernandez's father, the captain of Cuba's national fencing team. One of the largest bombings of any civil jetliner. It appears the CIA did it, the CIA bomber is on trial...for a immigration charge!
Posada, 82, a Cuban-born Venezuelan-citizen, was considered the mastermind— a CIA-trained explosives expert who would stop at nothing in his personal vendetta against Cuban president Fidel Castro. Planned in Venezuela, the attack killed mostly Cuban nationals.
"The terrorist activities of Posada Carriles are part of the [current US court] indictment, but they are not what he is being prosecuted for," said José Pertierra, a Cuban-born Washington lawyer who is representing Venezuela's interests at the trial. "He is only being prosecuted for lying about them [attacks]… to an immigration judge in a naturalization hearing."
Unlike the ethereal thread bare 'supposed' evidence of a circuit board part which could have come from Japan, Israel, America but was used to convict a Libyan security intelligence official of the Lockerbie Pan-Am bombing, This CIA contractor appears to make no bones about building the bomb and destroying this jetliner filled with civilians. A huge State sponsored CIA act of terrorism.
This troubling case also underscores just how utterly corrupt America's laws and justice system has become. As President Obama vainly attempts to point the finger of the Pan Am bombing at Gadhafi who probably had nothing whatsoever to do with it, but is blamed by a angry previous official (shades of angry previous officials falsely charing their former leaders, where has that been repeatedly seen?). Yep for a bag of free American taxpayer dollars and in that former Libyans officials case, he was probably offered a free luxury retirement entirely paid for off the backs of the tired American taxpayers.
Yep the CIA Contracted Scumbag appears to be 'THE BOMBER', built the bomb, planted the bomb, carried out the attack for the CIA on a civilian jetliner FILLED with civilian and yet he is only charged with LYING to the Immigration Judge!
Oh but it doesn't end there, it appears US Attorney General Eric Holder is attempting to PREVENT that heinous criminal CIA contractor from being deported to Venezuela where he would stand trial on behalf of a great many Venezuelan familys whose family members were on that jetliner. YEP, it appears the US Dept. of Justice is SHIELDING that serial killer from prosecution although for many years he had murdered more in a single act of terrorism by blowing up that civilian jetliner than had been killed in any similar acts for many years.
And here's President Obama and Madam Clinton harping over the doomed Pan-Am flight which Libya has already paid each of the victims family's, underwent sanctions for years, turned over the scapegoat that served years in a UK prison and yet given nearly identical circumstances with the exception that the Bomber appears clearly known and can certainly be attached to the CIA and America, he is being shielded from being tried, America has not paid those Venezuelan family's a single dime.
Face it, if your from the Middle East your a suspect. The Islamic religion is tied with government to spread this religious based culture. In the middle east Americans are the enemy, not just for some but a great many.
If your from the middle east, the only way to stop the stereotypical image is to make your voice be heard against Islamic jihad. Until all Islamic people in America decry the Islamic jihad then the suspect of anyone associated with the Middle East is a fair policy to protect America.
Just loving the stupid, ignorant, and racist comments going on on this story. I hope you don't mind having a GPS tracker under YOUR car, because if this case gets ruled in favor of the Federal Bureau of Ignoramuses or the Center for Idiotic Americans, then nothing will stop them from doing so. Not to you, not to me, not to this guy, not to anyone.
You may be quick to say it's A-OK for Muslims, but as soon as it happens to you you're going to start whining like a baby. You'll be "What did I do? I didn't do anything to warrant this!" when in fact you did by saying it's ok for the government to trample on people's rights.
Everyone is equal under the law. If you want someone else to not have their rights, you'd better be prepared to forego your own.
I don't care if they put one on my car, hell put two, I have nothing to hide now the question is does he, or does anyone else that thinks they were wrong doing so. They can surveillance every second I'm out in public I could careless ....
@Richie Aight then, but on the off chance they DO find you doing something illegal, then I hope you're ready to deal with military tribunals and other fun aspects of being a police state citizen.
What people fail to realize is that removal of rights often occurs in chain reactions. If one right goes, then the government builds steam and starts stripping away others. First it'll be protection against unlawful searches and seizures, then right to due process, then Miranda rights, then protection from cruel and unusual punishment. Rights of the accused, out the window. Then follow that up with right to bear arms, then right to free speech and freedom of the press, followed closely by the separation of church and state (the dissolution of which is every conservative's wet dream). At that point it'll be "hey why don't we just rip up the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution while we're at it" and what was once the foundation of this country will be nothing more than kitty litter. Keep this in mind. And I seriously doubt you'd be ok living your life under a camera lens 24/7/365. I don't think anyone would be. You're just saying that now because it hasn't happened to you...yet.
A recent article stated a poll that said that 80% of Muslims approve and/or support radical islamic groups activities. Until this approval changes all members of Islam are suspect and are fair game for law enforcement to track.
This tracking is legal through the authorization of the Patriot Act by congress and the president.
@Richie: You do realize that a GPS device can tell if you're speeding or not, right? So are you granting them the right to put a GPS device on your car so that they can mail you a ticket every time you go 1mph over the posted speed limit'?
@dlstephenson: You obviously don't believe in American values and would much rather live in a police state. They have one in Saudi Arabia, so why don't you move there?
getalifevirginia: And by your logic we can say that all Christians are clinic bombers and doctor killers because a large number of them believe this to be acceptable as well.
If your from the middle east, the only way to stop the stereotypical image is to make your voice be heard against Islamic jihad. Until all Islamic people in America decry the Islamic jihad then the suspect of anyone associated with the Middle East is a fair policy to protect America.
dlstephenson - That is a completely BS policy to say that because you come from a background that may be stereotyped you have to proactively say "Don't worry I am not that guy." While we are at it why don't we make it a policy to have all black people decry their "thug" stereotypes and lead every first meeting with "I am not a drug dealer or gangbanger".
This sounds great! Hey since I am German I just wanted to throw out there that I am definitely not a Nazi and I love Jewish people, in fact.
Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. We should not have to feed your own personal paranoia!!!
The student must win his lawsuit - otherwise EVERYONE will be susceptible to having a GPS attached to their vehicle without a legal warrant.
And of course - if you are an Arab or any other minority, you will more than likely have a GPS device attached to your vehicle without a legal warrant.
The Patriot Act - plus other laws and regulations like it, need to be repealed.
I agree 100%. Remember during Katrina when the National Guard pointed their rifles AT the refugees during their entry into the stadium, after they had lost everything but finally made it to refuge....only to have the U.S. point guns at them? Remember the TSA, sexually assaulting Americans? If this guy doesn't succeed in this suit, every American can be spied upon at will. Forget the concept of innocent until proven guilty. We already are guilty until proven innocent.
You do realize that EVERYONE is already susceptible to having GPS attached to their vehicle? Ever watch Conspiracy Theories, yeah they've already cracked that one. They actually have a GPS system that looks like a rock, which they can throw in your yard and it can pick up your security code on your house, phone numbers used, etc. Yes big brother in America is getting way out of hand but if you're not doing anything wrong then why are you worried?
"but if you're not doing anything wrong then why are you worried?"
Because the feds have a proven track record of wrongfully prosecuting and convicting innocent civilians just to "prove" that some DOJ attorney is doing his job so he can make the jump to some higher seat of power in this country.
You people that think this is unlawful, need to get rid of your cell phones, cars with Onstar and your gps devices you use to locate your distination. Stupid lawsuit. even if you win nothing will or should change. Your brothers and sisters in the Midle East have brought this fear to the United States. 20 years old? You should be in the military fighting to stop this. Theres no place better to show your brothers and sisters that the United States are only trying to help you be free.
It seems to me people think nothing has changed and 9/11 was someone figment of their imagination, reality is we live in very dangerous times and if the Government did nothing you all would be whining if something happened, can't have it both ways either be safe or be a victim ...
@Richie It's not a question of safe or victim, it's a question of liberty vs. security, because as Ben Frankin put it, if you sacrifice the former for the latter, then you're an idiot and deserve neither.
I appreciate the government for the work that they are doing trying to keep myself and other Americans safe, but I will not tolerate having my rights stomped on. And if that means that I get shot one day by some godforsaken terrorist, then that's that, and if that ever happens do me a favor and write Ben Franklin's aforementioned quote on my tombstone for posterity.
Your voice of reason needs to be recognized, kudos to you sir.
Astoundingly, the posters who support the FBI's actions, or at least many of them, are the same people who support the Tea Party Ideals. Someone denounced Obama for weakening America by not supporting the F.B.I., even though it was clearly stated that Obama's administration was fighting to defend the F.B.I.'s actions in court!! Talk about contrary.
If you support the Constitution, and the Bill of rights, then you have to be outraged at this.
A warrant is necessary to prove probable cause for such actions......this concept is a foundation of our liberty and is guaranteed by the 4th amendment.
Ben Franklin's wisdom is really the cornerstone of America's concept of freedom and liberty, evidently this is hard for some people to understand, even those that claim to be patriots.
To the original poster...everyone is going to be tracked? Yes, because our gov't wants to know everytime we go to McDonalds or Target? Come on! Paranoia will destroy ya! I agree with C.Fed, if you are not breaking the law, they want nothing to do with you!!!!
To the rest of you, exactly how does the 4th amend apply here? If the FBI sat two men in a car around the clock to follow this subject, is that also an illegal search? Seems to me that GPS is a lot safer and cost effective as you can probably have 2 agents watching 20 people at once. Either way, how does this become a search?
Finally to 307 Parkour...you almost gave me a coronary...Ben Frankin...I thought Al's bother had now become quote worthy...thank goodness that was a typo, :)
Everyone has their eye on the Middle East...but no one has their eye on Asians, who are much more subtle and insidious (i.e. China, for example). Their technology rivals (if not is more superior to) ours. And they're cold-blooded...I have yet to hear that Middle Easterns will take a woman against her will and terminate an 8 month pregnancy.
Just saying....not everyone's eye is looking in more than one direction.
What's funny is that most everyone walks around with GPS on their person. It's called a cell phone when turned on.
And where did the requirement comre from that all cell phones be equipped with GPS?
I don't care if they put one on my car, hell put two, I have nothing to hide now the question is does he, or does anyone else that thinks they were wrong doing so. They can surveillance every second I'm out in public I could careless ....
And you think this is limited to what you do in public?
@KOV68 you know what I mean. Typos like that happen when I try and type at the same speed I think. Perhaps Newsvine should consider a spell check script? :P
You Sir are a moron. Wait until it happens to you and I bet you will change your tune about the government being able to do this without a search warrant. Idiots like you should leave this country and maybe we will start being a great country again.
you can't "go back" to a country you weren't born in. the article said itself, he's an American-born citizen, therefore he's entitled to the same rights as the rest of us
Well I don't think it would happen to me as I don't make alot of trips back and forth to the ME and have a family with ties to Al Queda. I don't think they are putting these devices under just anybodies car and following all of America. And if you say this article doesn't tate that there are ties to Al Queda I will tell you this is a follow-up article and the last one did.
Heck, they don't even follow all the Mexicans everyone complains about all the time.
You must have missed the part of the story that says this man was BORN IN THE UNITED STATES. There is no "going back to Egypt". Just because he TRAVELS to the middle East does not mean America is not his home.
Ron; This is the way they act in Egypt! Paramilitary forces called "SWAT TEAM" (future death squads?) They seem to want to make their "kill". EG. New York woman they fired forty rounds at. Looks like the Mexican Carrel's. No? Tim read HLS bulletin white male, veterans, "anti-government" men are profiled! That is why they monitor the inter-net with "carnivore and Omnivore". Welcome big Sis.
your missing the point Bro , he was BORN in the states so were his family lives is irrelevant all of us have family from another country if you go back far enough and its not a middle east thing,, its our government stomping on our rights thing , this could be anyone for ANY reason you are more than likely a law abiding person , BUT if the government makes a mistake and all of a sudden your name popes up because you bought something off line that flagged you or what ever reason they have do you really want the Government all up in your Business , do you really want the Government to track everything you do no matter what it is with no over sight ?
Wow! Everything I am reading is absolutely beyond words. The young man was BORN here in the U.S. Do we take those children in the last several generations born here and send them back to a country they are not tied to except for family over there? My grandparents are from Lithuania on one side and Norway on the other. Does that mean I should be sent back to a country I don't affiliate with except I have family there?
The religious jihad has been going on for millenia since the time of Ishmael and Isaac. It will not end and with the abilty to spread through the world, it will continue. That doesn't mean we define a person's guilt or innocent by what their family does or doesn't do. That doesn't mean we take away the freedom of their religion and their choice to worship as they will..
I remember reading that when the Mormons gained the attention of the religious leaders already set in the U.S. and the government that the government passed a law giving open range on killing them. It became legal at that time to kill someone of that religion. Why? because they lived differently and thought differently and believed differently. How then is this country any better than some of the other countries and aren't we just doing and becoming what other countries have been for centuries.
It's not going to change... just get worse before it get's better. There are no solutions. Hate runs to deep in this world of intolerance, selfishness, pride and control. But this young man certainly did not deserve to have his civil rights defiled by a government that is so corrupt already. How do I know? My husband was a cop for 16 years and a sharp shooter for the FBI. He could tell you stories that would make you vomit!
It seems the issue was that his family had ties to Al Quida and he regularly went to the ME.
It shouldn't matter where you were born if your family has ties to a terrorist group that targets American citizens and you spend time in the terrorist region.
I just wish they would've been able to slap a GPS on Timothy McVeigh...
He is getting treated just as any of us would. If we where to make frequent trips to the Middle East. Thank you FBI for doing what you have to. You can bug my car anytime if you feel it necessary.
So if you are catholic or protestant or of any other religion and a group of people within that religion choose to start a fanatical group, oh say, crusaders, Aryan Nation, etc.. and blow up a few things that from that point on if you belong to the same religion that it automatically means your belife is wrong and you are a bad person?
There are a great, great, great number of amazing people that are muslim that practise their religion with harmony and faith and live by the true meaning and not the fanatical asperations of a group of terrorist that hide behind it. Come on people.. put yourself in the shoes of those who are trying to live a good, faithful, loving life in their religion and stop judging the whole or the many by the few. Go ahead.. cast the first stone.. then stand back and watch the landslide of bolders land on your head! And no.. I'm not Muslim.. but respect them individually for who they are.
Hey Ron, we should send you to Egypt. This kid was born in the US. Now go back to reading your comic books and leave the adult conversations to the adults.
Wow, GET OVER IT! At least when you hear stories like this you know the government is doing their job. If you were a teacher, and suspected one of your students being abused would you pursue further to know for sure or not? I would hope so. It's not like the government puts GPS devices on EVERY middle eastern "citizens" vehicles. Now yes, that would be racist. I'm so sick and disappointed of my fellow Americans being sue-happy. Get a life and quit bankrupting our country please.
To put it bluntly, you're a fool if you think this is what is bankrupting America. This is exactly what the judicial branch of the government is there for. Might want to learn how the checks and balances of our government work.
your missing the point Bro , he was BORN in the states so were his family lives is irrelevant all of us have family from another country if you go back far enough and its not a middle east thing,, its our government stomping on our rights thing , this could be anyone for ANY reason you are more than likely a law abiding person , BUT if the government makes a mistake and all of a sudden your name popes up because you bought something off line that flagged you or what ever reason they have do you really want the Government all up in your Business , do you really want the Government to track everything you do no matter what it is with no over sight ?
C-Fed ? can I have the access to your passwords so I can go through your e-mails and peruse all your messages? -- Trust me I won't change anything in your account - I just want to read about your life and what you do and who your interested in and what websites you visit...
No?!! You won't let me? -- Why Not?!!
You seem to think it's ok if some government employee, or beauracrat, or some two bit law officer that you never met can freely go through your stuff or track your movements without any restrictions.. You don't have a problem with them looking into what your doing? So why not me too?!
Get the point now on the reason for warrants before searching your belongings and person? (probably not)...
InigoMontoya,in order for you to communiate with some of these retards, you would have to lower your intelligent level down to theirs which is pretty low,our school system has failed,I will not even mention our clvics or reading comprehension reading classes,or plain old common sense.
I would say that the Government schools are successfully dumbing down the next generation. Still the teachers want a raise and respect. If My Spelling or grammer is in error, you can thank a teachers indiference.
Jerry, perhaps if the parents of these children in this generation actually took a more active part in the up-bring of their children and stop believing that it is the school teachers responsibility to raise and discipline their child (which that can't event so that now) then maybe, just maybe, this generation of kids would have a better go at life. The teachers are asking for more of a raise to meet the standard of living just like everyone else. Their job to teach is of the utmost importance but with their time being taken so much on unruly, defiant, beligerant, violent children, that time becomes minimum compared to what it use to be. Get angry at the parents.. not the teachers. Thank your parents if your spelling or grammer is in error.. it was their job to teach you to begin with..
.What is wrong with someone knowing where we are 24/7 or our cars? If it was stolen and found in 2 hours you wouldn't be so stupid as to bitch about a tracking device that most of you have on your belt or in your pocket anyway. You people need to grow up and realize the more technology we create the more intrusions we have on our lives. Just by making a phone call to you I can tell with the right technology where you are and don't bitch one day when that is used to find one of your lost or worse missing kids!
I think having tracking devices on cars is a good thing. Think of the money our police departments can save - now they can just go online, track GPS signals and mail out tickets for moving violations.
Confussed - You are the governments dream. They wish everyone would just roll over and play dead and let them have their way. The Constitution and Bill of Rights gives us rights and liberties, its what has governed this nation since the revolution. It is not for some political hack to rewrite to control the citizens. Our rights have been erroded to the point that 1984 is almost a complete reality. People like you will insure that the Constitution and Bill of Rights become just more irrelevant pieces of American history. Your argument that a GPS "might" save or find a child is the argument that losers have used to justify everything from banning dodgeball in school to removing toys from McD's Happy Meals....."if we can save just ONE child". That is so lame...and its totally overused by losers that have no other argument.
I feel sorry for you and the rest who feel anything the government does in the name of protecting you is ok because "you have nothing to hide".
The 20 years I spent in the service was a total waste of time if you and your kind is what this country is producing for the future. Thank God my time on earth is about over. The future under your mindset isn't worth living.
Though I am an avid supporter of our constitutional rights, I must say that today's world has changed the way Americans need to protect themselves. IF someone fits the profile of a terrorist or has possible terrorist ties, then by all means, investigate them and clear them or investigate them and save some lives.
LOL...you really think it would work that way? Get a grip Jerry.
So...if someone fits the profile of XXXXX (pick something criminal such as pedophilia) we should just toss out constitutional principles? Nope Jerry, you are NOT an "avid supporter" of constitutional rights. Sometimes that darn constitution just gets in the way.
Jerry, just think if someone didn't like the way you smiled at their kid. They drop a dime on you, you get wire tapped, computer tapped, GPS tracked and you find out. What do you think about THAT? Don't tell me you wouldn't feel just a wee bit violated by Uncle Sam?
The courts have ruled that racial profiling is unconstitutional. What you suggest is racial profiling. How would you feel if you fit the suspect profile?
He fits a profile where the DOJ has been burned before. In today's world of second guessing what's the government to do? No matter what any bleeding hearts have already determined, the government has to investigate anyone who fits a certain profile. Multiple communications, trips and sending money to the middle east all fit within that criteria.
Anyone can fit the criteria. It doesn't matter of race, creed, color or country. Michael Kane (the British Actor) gave an interview and he was on a list because of his travels to certain areas.
The databases track and monitors places and frequencies of travel....not just names.
Anyone who is possibly suspicious can be under scrutiny. I'm Irish and if I constantly went to Belfast and sent money to the IRA I would be under scrutiny.
I agree. I see that Americans (born and raised here) are losing the zeal of what our country is. They feel that the defense of our liberty is not worth sacrifice. They see just ones self, but the well being and freedoms we enjoy as a whole are what make this America. A good soldier understands this. Too many people today think only of themselves. This young man of Middle Eastern descent in my opinion is only looking out for what he believes to be easy money from our country, if i fit his profile I would understand that I would be percieved as a threat. Just conduct yourself as any Man should and do not blow things out of proportion. Its a small sacrifice for your country, many Real Americans have paid infinitely more than you ever will.
Get something straight people. The FBI and many of the other government services miss-use their 'power' constantly. My husband had two uniforms. One that identified him as FBI and the other was a black op uniform with no markings. They would wire-time lines because one would be suspicion of his wife or girlfriend having an affair or because one of them had the hots for some young pretty thing. One night, one of the guys was angry because he thought his wife was having an affair with this one particular man. He got his crew together, including my husband, and they dressed in their black op uniforms. They broke into the man's home, rousted him, tied him up and bagged him. They took him to a 'barn' and interrogated him for hours about all kinds of non-sense stuff... drugs.. weapons.. terrorrism.. etc.. and had him terrirfied. Then they took him home and dumped him into the ditch next to his house. He never had a clue as to why any of it happened... it happened because we, the people, have given villians dressed in uniforms the power over us and we do nothing but sit back and watch it happen to others and say "they must have deserved it" until it happens to us.
The last straw for my husband was Ruby Ridge and what happened there and then seeing his partner shot and killed in front of him by friendly fire.. then the purp got blamed for the murder.. How safe do you think any of you are if they want to get to you? Not in this country.. not any more.. wake up and get real!
Everyone gets banned for one reason or another...singers because their looks and/or lyrics are too racy...actors because of remarks that piss-off a certain government. Or kissing an Indian actress (Richard Gere and S. Shilpa)...LOL
The more high profile one is, the likelier to be banned...but to attract attention simply because your family is in another country and you call/visit often...that's just wrong. My husband and I both have extensive family in Europe...I only wish we had more connection than we do...I'd love it! Sadly, long distance charges are high, letter-writing is almost obsolete, and internet connection (esp. in Europe) is phenomenally high-rate.
If I were related to family with "known" terroristic associations and communicated closely and often, would it be right to have my activities tracked, without a Warrant? I might get pissed-off, but I'd be understanding IF I were provided a Reason, and given the opportunity to explain myself. BIG "if", though.
Most Douche bags say that we should send back foreigners to their own countries. Of course this person is already in his own country.... So it would be a no way ticket... He is an American citizen and was born here... Hmmmm I wonder if they should send me back to Ireland as My family came here in the 1840's with out a visa or "legal" status... OMG I am an anchor baby... that really sucks... Just kidding... OR am I????
I am sure that the "right" thinking Americans don't see this as an infringement of their rights... it happened to an "Islamic" looking person... someone who calls the middle east frequently, who visits our ally nations regularly... gee I wonder what they will accuse him of next... speaking a foreign language???
Also, bpope, would you mind taking off your clothes for me? I have to make sure you don't have any illegal weapons. Can I search your house now? Can I dig through your drawers? You didn't do anything wrong, did you? So why not? I'm also going to need to question your children and search their rooms as well. They don't have anything to hide, do they?
Its still freakin hilarious to me how overlooked the fact is that "we" as americans stole this land from a group of people in the first place starting way back in 1492.To say send foreigners back to "their" land would also include all the self-rightious white people that founded this country. So technically speaking unless you are native american or eskimo you have no right to label anyone as foreigners.
OMG! All this talk back and forth about one side being less bright than the other but no one has attempted to answer the question of what GPS tracking (investigating) has to do with illegal searches or why it would require a warrant. How do you think law enforcement obtains a warrant-with probable cause. How do you think they obtain probable cause-throught investigating individuals. This isn't rocket science peeps, the individual being tracked did something to peak the interest and he was being investigated. Chill out!
I dont see how the guy really has a case here. If you use public roads, any area you travel is public knowledge, and does not require a warrant. Unless the government broke into his house to plant the device, I don't see how he really has a reasonable expectation of privacy.
So you are ok with big brother knowing where you go every moment of the day...??? You are fine with them invading your privacy with no mention that they are doing it??? Welcome to 1984 in 2011... I am sure that you won't mind them telling you that you need to buy something say like health insurance, or maybe what to eat like no soda or low salt diets.. But they would never do that would they????
If they accessed his property to attach the device it's illegal.
Also some courts have defined that the GPS is illegal as it allows an entity to know where a person is 24/7 without actually having 'eyes' on that person. The person could lend their car to someone(s) and not know where they go and yet the entity would log it as the subjects whereabouts.
If they want to know where he is so badly they can do it the old fashioned way and stake him out and follow him, but oh yea that usually means getting a warrant.
And I'd like to point out something, to all of you who are saying he should expect this as he's of Middle Eastern descent, that he sends money there to support his family, because he travels there, all in all fits a profile, and we've been burned before so let's keep a watch on these specific targets.
For all of you who think this way, remember it when it becomes YOUR turn to be followed. And it can happen all it takes is public opinion to sway and you're the newest enemy. Look at what happened in Germany, oh you say that could never happen here, well it did before Germany and after. What about all the Japanese Americans who were born in the US but shuttled off to internment camps? And what about today, the airmen shot in Germany by a man, who is an Islamic from Kosovo, and the article states that it is a place where they recruit Muslims for the extremist side because they can pass for European and thus not attract the attention.
Nope the risk is likely not from your American born neighbor who is of Eastern Indian descent who travels a lot and send money to his family, nope the risk is more likely to come from that really quiet guy in apt 3C who stays to himself, but he looks like he was born in the US so he couldn't be trouble.
And I always love the ones who say if you're innocent and haven't done anything then what does it matter? Ask that of the people in prison who truly are innocent, and just the psychological impact of being followed, listened to, spied on, etc is enough to send a lot of people over the edge.
And finally remember this, if they are willing to do it to one person they are willing to do it to anyone.
I'd have to go hunt down the original article on this, but the conclusion was that they came onto his property to plant the device, whiceh removes your entire arguement on streets being public property.
Better safe than sorry that anyone gets threw the cracks...when something happens it usually is because we were too slack. We have an awful lot of what I call hyphonates. (Some other race first, a dash, then American. Maybe we will have to change the name to HYPHONANIA...that's what we are becoming.
It's clear to me that the FBI violated his constitutional rights without a search warrant from a judge and placing the object on the car.
Iwould have deactivted the device hid it and given it for someone to hold until court proceeding against the FBI..
BTW... FBI , this is not the way to gain trust with the American people. Put an item like that on my car and get ready for a muti - million dollar law suit. You definately aren't getting your device back, you gave it up and became my property when you wilingly placed it on my car without my permission and or that of a judge for probable cause...
UMMM...while I agree with your sentiment, let me point out that if the FBI comes looking for their toys with real guns and the ability to cart my butt off to some unknown location...I'm not really in a position to argue.
I wish i didn't have to happen, but it is an unfortunate time we live in. what would we be saying now if he did blacken our eye? do you remember anything from history? its a trade off he thinks that was bad. If it were WW2 he would be in a camp. we don't know who the enemy is, so we guess and hope we are right
So Steve, we just round up anyone? Except for 9/11 all terrorism on US soil has been carried out by gasp, Americans, ones who look like they are of European/anglo descent. Remember Timothy McVeigh? or How about the Unabomber and the list so goes on.
So sacrifice our rights for the illusion of freedom and safety?
But what about the many on U.S. and foreign soil that have been averted. Those were not all white. Many were of Islamic faith. Do I think we round everyone up who is studies Islam, absolutely not. Were his rights infringed upon, yes. But lets not forget the underwear bomber, shoe bomber, Ft. Hood, and most recently, the young kid in Portland that tried to blow up the tree lighting ceremony. Or even the van bomb in New York, and the list goes on.
Timothy yeah that was unfortunate, the Oklahoma City bombing was supposed to be a revenge attack for what the A.T.F. did in Waco. and Ted Kacynski was just crazy.
Unfortunately, we have allowed our borders to remain open beyond any reasonable constraints. Thus, we now have scum among us! If our government didn't keep tabs on the vast amount of people they do, our everyday existence would change dramatically! So, to the haters of the FBI, CIA, etc, don't be so naive to believe innocent until proven guilty! Be sure that because of their work, thousands of American lives, no matter what ethnic group, have been preserved already! And in all fairness, if you no likey, you no gotta stay!
If your patently insipid arguments weren't so frightening, they'd be laughable. "...don't be so naive to believe innocent until proven guilty!"(sic) as a justification for the work of the CIA and/or other governmental spooks strikes me as the height of naiveté, as it assumes our government behaves beneficently toward the citizenry, while anyone who is even remotely self-aware knows that to be a fairy tale.
If the ongoing oppression of the innocent is what's required to allow you to sleep at night, then you're one sick puppy, but you have plenty of company these days.
Americans have a right to object to government behavior that they don't like, that's freedom of dissent. Also, innocent until proven guilty is a constitutional right. If you don't understand these principles, then you might be the person who should find another country to live in.
I guess you won't have any objection when the FBI spies on *you* either, right?
You might want to RUN right out and check under the wheel well of your car. Your bigoted and hate filled extremist rhetoric sounds like it would easily fit either a terrorist or sociopath profile. You know, the kind of folks that could easily flip out and really hurt some innocent people. So it is a good bet that the "devices" the government says are used "extensively" are tracking YOUR activities.
[Your real name wouldn't happen to be Jared or Timothy, would it?]
I was Benjamin Franklin that said - those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither, not Jefferson. I believe the statement, but damn, give credit to the right person.
All you people that are hoping he wins his case, what is there to win?! A cop can pull you over for "looking suspicious", so what's the big difference? Seriously! I'm so sick of everyone's whiny, he said she said sob story. The problem with America is that everyone thinks they're entitled to something. You gained 150 pounds because McDonald's didn't warn you their food was unhealthy? Don't blame the government for it! Have some dignity for yourself. And by the way... I do believe an attack from the middle east is what started this whole mess so unfortunately yes, it takes a couple of MORONS to ruin it for a whole country. Because of what they did, we will always be on high alert, monitoring those who might be a threat. Get over it or go home.
I drive a 20 year old car, it's a piece of crap. I get pulled over all the time because I am guessing they figure I'm too poor for auto insurance. Excuses are you were weaving, you didn't use your blinker... My favorite was a cop trying to convince me that he smelled drugs as I drove the opposite way @ 45 MPH with my windows up. They will come up with any B/S story they can think up, all to fight a 40 year old white guy with a POS car and living in "the projects" because he must be drunk, selling drugs or stole something. Or could it be because I called my Congressman (Dr. Phil Roe, nicknamed "Dr. No") a douchebag and a hypocrite. A Doctor against healthcare, only in the republic south.
I'm sorry to hear about your story :( I'm originally from Iowa and the cops there get so bored sometimes watching the corn grow they'll pull you over for anything! I used to work as a bartender and they would park/"radar" a mile away from the bar and pull everyone over. I do think some laws are ridiculous, I agree. And hey. Maybe in a few years your car will be considered a collectible. Restore that baby! And yes, politics are so dirty anymore, it almost feels like you're being lied straight to your face. Seems like our votes don't even matter anymore, just how much money they have in their pockets.
Michael, I feel your pain. Imagine if you also happened to have brown skin too......You would never have a chance to even get the car in gear before they would pull you over... :-)
Maybe those others who are ranting can get a glimpse of the idea as to how many of our basic civil rights have been abandoned or taken away by this hysteria. If you are poor and white, you are suspect and get detained. If you are of color and poor, middle class or well off financially, you get pulled over. It is all about dividing us and pitting us against each other over nonsense, so we do not pay attention to the loss of liberty and the huge shift of wealth.
Cfed thinks it is "whining" ...that is, until HE gets pulled over. Then he will be on a soapbox with a bullhorn talking about how his rights and yours were violated. Go figure...
That guy is already home. He was born in the U.S. Also, a gps tracking device is a heck of a lot different than McDonalds. Should we expect to have our constitutional liberties to be violated because that is now that norm?
Your belief that this was born in the ME (9/11 plot) is a good excuse for depriving OUR citizens of liberty? You demonstrate the woe we face. You are the enemy.
People are so quick to judge and fickle in them. All the blame issues about how our security could have prevented the 9-11 attack and yet this "potential" terrorist is asking for rights to limit the ability of the government for our protection of future killings here. He fits the profile then he should get the survielence ...... if that is a problem for him then go live in Egypt. Our adversity to profile people who fit the crimes is stupid. If your are a muslim you fit the profile and should have to be monitored or leave. Being born here or converted here is no difference.
What about the people who do not fit the mold? The ones who look caucasian? How about the people of other races who convert to islamism? Profiling is like saying all asian people are Chinese and all white people are country bumpkins. Its stupid and illogical.
You people are probably the same ones that claim the Jihadists hate us for our freedoms yet you feel it's right to trample on the rights of an American citizen whose only connection to the Middle East is his heritage.
How can they hate us for our freedoms if we can't even protect the freedoms of OUR OWN PEOPLE?
yeah some people don't see the difference with a Jihadist or a Muslim. Jihadists are Muslims but not all Muslims are Jihadists. I'm spiritual, I'm an American, I don't go to church, I'm not Muslim. But I hate stupid people that complain about things they think they understand but don't have any real clue. I would imagine it's like living in Germany before and during Word War 2. Nazi's were removing Jews from everyday life by the train loads and putting them in Ghetto's and then executing them harvesting skin, hair, and removing gold from teeth. While Non-Jews in Germany were cheering yeah the goverment hates you and so do we, Good Riddance.
They have all the rights in the world to protect Americans against possible terrorists, whether their Americans or middle eastern. They have their reasons for wanting to know more about him, its no different then tailing him from behind or the air, just less costly. I have no great love for the way our government is being run but the FBI is doing there job unlike others in DC.
Some of you have posted some silly comments as something like that can be done to any American. Instead of posting dumb comments, consider that, if the guy does not win his case, democracy in America will be eroded even further, especially as the President (is there any longer much of a difference between Republican and Democrat in these issues) is obviously in support of such an unlawful action.
A.Smith,
if American laws are so corrupt and horrible, why do you torture yourself to stay here.
He is a muslim and all muslims are evil and need to be tracked. They should all be forced to wear tracking devices on their ankles.
Illegal actions? Where did you come up with the notion that it was done illegally?
What's funny is that most everyone walks around with GPS on their person. It's called a cell phone when turned on.
I say deport them ALL!
Blondness- Yes, that is exactly what many people want. They won't admit it (usually), and will even scoff if you suggest it of them, but do not be fooled.
Remberasha- Research the Patriot Act- Read, learn, grow. This is the new America.
^Nappy haired dealer, on the prowl.I knew it.
REDUNKULOUS!
They need to charge this guy with obstruction of a Federal investigation.
Why do you think that because he is an American Citizen then he cannot possibly have ties to terrorism? I believe we've already proven that falsehood.
A. Smith-1451820 "America's Justice and Laws are CORRUPT, BROKEN and UNJUST"
Yeah, they are much better in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Libya. Why don't you move there where you'll be treated much better, especially if you're a woman?
So he wants to sue, and says he did nothing wrong.
So what are his 'damages'?
Try complaining about something like this in Egypt, and see how far you get.
kurtnmia, you are suspended for a day for violating # 5 of the Code of Honor.
Don't make racist statements, please.
I object to the term "Egyptian-American" - is he American or not?
Can we ALL just be plain old Americans.
It is time for the hyphens to go away.
I am first generation born in this country and I would never call myself anything BUT American, plain old American.
When Laws do not apply to ALL then they are Illegal and cannot abide to YOU, they are unjust and such justice is utterly corrupt.
A huge State sponsored CIA act of terrorism.
http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/features/2011/01/2011112104142751917.html
And here's President Obama and Madam Clinton harping over the doomed Pan-Am flight which Libya has already paid each of the victims family's, underwent sanctions for years, turned over the scapegoat that served years in a UK prison and yet given nearly identical circumstances with the exception that the Bomber appears clearly known and can certainly be attached to the CIA and America, he is being shielded from being tried, America has not paid those Venezuelan family's a single dime.
it wasn't "state sponsered" , the guy acted on his own, we simply chose not to prosecute him for what he did .
the guy acted on his own, and the reason it was never prosecuted was likely that he had something on others to hold over them.
He is not from the middle east, unless somehow the US got moved their.
The simple fact of the matter is the the FBI should not be able to monitor US citizens without a warrant.
Try, there! And please go there with him.
He is not an American Citizen because he is a muslim. You can't be both.
Seriously!!!!
Seriously!!!!
Can you read that statement & tell me what's wrong with it?
@kurtnmia and others with similar opinion
Enjoy your police state, idiot.
How about the FBI start tracking this guy.
I think kurtnmia is a meth head.
Hard to take anyone seriously who doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're".
getalifevirginia: And by your logic we can say that all Christians are clinic bombers and doctor killers because a large number of them believe this to be acceptable as well.
dlstephenson - That is a completely BS policy to say that because you come from a background that may be stereotyped you have to proactively say "Don't worry I am not that guy." While we are at it why don't we make it a policy to have all black people decry their "thug" stereotypes and lead every first meeting with "I am not a drug dealer or gangbanger".
C.Fed.
"but if you're not doing anything wrong then why are you worried?"
Because the feds have a proven track record of wrongfully prosecuting and convicting innocent civilians just to "prove" that some DOJ attorney is doing his job so he can make the jump to some higher seat of power in this country.
Excuse me Robb.
You were not there to see what actually happened in NO, things that did NOT, I say did NOT, get to the news media.
It was no freakin party, for either side.
307Parkour,
Your voice of reason needs to be recognized, kudos to you sir.
And where did the requirement comre from that all cell phones be equipped with GPS?
And you think this is limited to what you do in public?
@KOV68 you know what I mean. Typos like that happen when I try and type at the same speed I think. Perhaps Newsvine should consider a spell check script? :P
Don't like it here go back to Egypt.
Amen!
You Sir are a moron. Wait until it happens to you and I bet you will change your tune about the government being able to do this without a search warrant. Idiots like you should leave this country and maybe we will start being a great country again.
you can't "go back" to a country you weren't born in. the article said itself, he's an American-born citizen, therefore he's entitled to the same rights as the rest of us
If you're not doing anything wrong then why the need to worry?
Well I don't think it would happen to me as I don't make alot of trips back and forth to the ME and have a family with ties to Al Queda. I don't think they are putting these devices under just anybodies car and following all of America. And if you say this article doesn't tate that there are ties to Al Queda I will tell you this is a follow-up article and the last one did.
Heck, they don't even follow all the Mexicans everyone complains about all the time.
And another drop-dead moron, lacking the basic reading skills of my 1st grade niece. Worst part is, you likely have voting rights.
You must have missed the part of the story that says this man was BORN IN THE UNITED STATES. There is no "going back to Egypt". Just because he TRAVELS to the middle East does not mean America is not his home.
You must be white and probability never be profile. You missed the fact that he
was born here.
ron you sound like a tea party racist pig
Right on RON W. Bet he's a muslim to boot!!!! Why is he here anyway???
FBI can bug my vehicles too. Of course, they will permanently forfeit any ownership of said bugs, but if they want to, they can go nuts!
Because he was born here, idiot!
C.Fed. is an absolute moron who is missing the big picture. This is Another example of the deterioration of our civil rights in America.
To put it bluntly, you're a fool if you think this is what is bankrupting America. This is exactly what the judicial branch of the government is there for. Might want to learn how the checks and balances of our government work.
HOLEY CRIPES.
It is not about the monitoring of suspicious persons,
it IS about "DOING IT WITHOUT A WARRANT".
Bunch of socialist libtards.
your missing the point Bro , he was BORN in the states so were his family lives is irrelevant all of us have family from another country if you go back far enough and its not a middle east thing,, its our government stomping on our rights thing , this could be anyone for ANY reason you are more than likely a law abiding person , BUT if the government makes a mistake and all of a sudden your name popes up because you bought something off line that flagged you or what ever reason they have do you really want the Government all up in your Business , do you really want the Government to track everything you do no matter what it is with no over sight ?
I have no problem with my government knowing what I am doing. It's such a boring life.
No, kidding hell I'll buy'em a drink when they come see me at the bar. I have nothing to hide, screw it. I could use a few friends in law enforcement.
C-Fed ? can I have the access to your passwords so I can go through your e-mails and peruse all your messages? -- Trust me I won't change anything in your account - I just want to read about your life and what you do and who your interested in and what websites you visit...
No?!! You won't let me? -- Why Not?!!
You seem to think it's ok if some government employee, or beauracrat, or some two bit law officer that you never met can freely go through your stuff or track your movements without any restrictions.. You don't have a problem with them looking into what your doing? So why not me too?!
Get the point now on the reason for warrants before searching your belongings and person? (probably not)...
Where in this case was anything searched? All they are doing is tracking his movements...you must know something more about this case than the media.
We should be monitoring all of those people.
What people? Americans? We should be monitoring idiots like you for being dangerously retarded.
Think of the money our police departments can save - now they can just go online, track GPS signals and mail out tickets for moving violations.
jeez I hope it never comes to that.
Did jerry spell indifference wrong, on purpose?
Wow! We still call this place America?
Yes, and you we call an idiot for not wanting to know what is going on around you.
Fine, investigate them, just do it properly with a warrant. Suspicion of someone doesn't remove their basic rights, as those rights are for ALL.
So far the only lives saved has been done by civilians. If you don't count FBI recruiting.
Then you obviously aren't an avid supporter of constitutional rights.
The courts have ruled that racial profiling is unconstitutional. What you suggest is racial profiling. How would you feel if you fit the suspect profile?
By all means investigate me. Weather I like it or not. I would rather be found to have done nothing than later found that I killed someones child.
HUH???
Gosh, I wonder why you were being tracked?? Hmm...
Get over it dude and quit playing the race card.
Sounds like he got a visit from big brother.
Who? Infantry?
Sounds like he got a visit from big brother. Welcome to America.
welcome to america?dude read the article he was born in america
dude he got a formal welcome
born in the u.s.a....
If he did nothing wrong, then why the fuss?
I think we need to start sending these foriegners back to their own countries and secure our borders as firmly as they do.
I see you missed the part where Mr. Afifi is an American citizen. Idiot.
send him back where? he was born in the US. maybe we should send you back to grade school
Yes, let's send him back to America...
Typical xenophobia in a country that is a melting pot of other nations. Hypocrit much?
He wants money. He wants to bring this to light so it doesn't happen to another? Sorry, I don't buy it.
They were welcome to follow him. The part that crossed the line was when they put the GPS tracking device on his personal property WITHOUT a warrant.
I'd have to go hunt down the original article on this, but the conclusion was that they came onto his property to plant the device, whiceh removes your entire arguement on streets being public property.
at most, it might be considered Stalking
Better safe than sorry that anyone gets threw the cracks...when something happens it usually is because we were too slack. We have an awful lot of what I call hyphonates. (Some other race first, a dash, then American. Maybe we will have to change the name to HYPHONANIA...that's what we are becoming.
Most people would call you a racist and an @!$%#.. I would never do that but most people would...
You're only hyphenated if you have dual citizenship IMHO. If you're an American citizen, you're American, period.
Better safe than sorry eh? So you'd be all for cavity searches on everyone getting on a plane? Sorry, I don't favor living in a police state.
Don't know exactly what he wants out of this lawsuit but I sure hope that he wins. It is about time that somebody took a stand.
And in all fairness, if you no likey, you no gotta stay!
uh, he was born in the US. maybe you should read the article again
Your moniker fits.
If the ongoing oppression of the innocent is what's required to allow you to sleep at night, then you're one sick puppy, but you have plenty of company these days.
vngful, do you really need to be reminded of the founding fathers of our own nation again?
as Jefferson said,
"those that are willing to trade freedom for security deserve neither"
and you have very clearly stated that you do not want freedom.
Hmmmm Vngeful.
Nice try, FBI.
I was Benjamin Franklin that said - those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither, not Jefferson. I believe the statement, but damn, give credit to the right person.
Vngfl
some people enjoy prison. You do not speak for me in the least. Coward.
For
All you people that are hoping he wins his case, what is there to win?!
Comment # 26 deleted. Racist derail from texaslady-2905062. No, thanks.
The people in these comments make me sick.
All Christians are exemplified by the WBC. Phelps is their guru. Is this spot on or what? Maybe these statements will help you see your error.
This young man is a U.S. citizen. The article states he was born in the U.S., so where would you send him back to????
Some of you have posted some silly comments as something like that can be done to any American. Instead of posting dumb comments, consider that, if the guy does not win his case, democracy in America will be eroded even further, especially as the President (is there any longer much of a difference between Republican and Democrat in these issues) is obviously in support of such an unlawful action.
