Lindsay Graham, a Republican senator from the state of South Carolina, said in January that having a few U.S. air bases in Afghanistan would give Afghan security forces an edge against the Taliban and benefit the region. He said he wanted the U.S. to have "an enduring relationship" with Afghanistan to ensure it never falls back into militant hands.
This is the kind of thinking that goes on in Washington. We're broke, and some nutjob from over in South Carolina wants to occupy a country on the other side of the planet from now on. We already have 750 other bases which we can't afford either, so what's one more. We do not have enough trees to make the paper to print all the money that these idiots want to spend on stupid $hit.
We are winning, we are winning, this from those who informed us on the nightly news that the Battle for Marjha was intense and that it was the home of the Taliban and that they would not give in easily. nightly we were informed the battle was raging and house to house. Well I just finished watching the documentary "Battle for Majhar" and I highly recommend it, not for any other reason than to see how much BS we are fed by those who would have us in war for who knows what reason, it certainly has nothing to do with 9/11. Judge for yourself it is on HBO I believe. Don't get me wrong there is life lost and a few wounded but nothing on the scale of the propaganda we were force fed. Makes one wonder what else are we being deceived about.
and how long do we stay? how many teachers do we cut? how much do we spend?
it would be cheaper and easier to make the country a glass parking lot. sends a message too. harbor terrorist, become an american ashtray. we can still get the oil safe underground.
Well lets see now, It must be the US military's fault, since they are cutting off the money supply to the taliban. Or else it might be inflation caused by the US printing so much money resulting in highter arms and munitions prices.
Perhaps we should just send them a handful of the US congress to tell them not to worry, things are getting better!
The only "permanent bases" the Taliban would ever be happy with would be those set up by al Qaeda (al Qaeda means "the base" BTW). Why MSNBC bothered to print their opinion is perplexing, their opinion is already well known. They aren't going to be happy with anything that isn't approved of by their ethereal dictator, Allah, and as long as these unfortunate descendents of the conquered peoples of Afghanistan (ancient peoples who were overrun, overtaken and thoroughly subdued and humiliated by Islamic hoards); now a nation of centuries old brainwashed-in Stockholm syndrome-like suffering victims, are allowed to perpetuate that foreign medieval creed that was imposed on them centuries ago there will be air bases and there will be jihad.

It comes as no surprise that a punk like Sen Lindsay Graham (R-SC) would want permanent bases in Afghanistan. That is what backward Republicans like him do. To solve a problem we establish a long term presence. We should be pulling out now rather than waiting til 2014. Just what will be accomplished? Afghanistan is a poor illiterate country divided by sectarian religions. It is up to the people of that country to rise up and determine their own destiny. If they want to maintain the status quo, so be it. In this time of economic uncertainty, it is foolhardy to spend the money it would take to establish bases there. We need to keep our money at home and help our own people. Whether we stay in Afghanistan or go, it will have no bearing on whether the U.S. will suffer another 9/11 type attack. Get a grip. America First!
Republicans enjoy making war on People(naming any is easy), the environment (The Sagebrush revolution) and non millionaires (tax cuts). While I wish all of us could be a millionaire, it has simply never been possible for that to happen. If our government keeps it up, recent events in the Middle East could seem like a weekend at the county fair....(relax, only insight, not veiled threat)
i like this kind of talk such as by senator graham as opposed to something like , wer'e going to start withdrawing starting tomorrow or next week. its psychological warfare, think of what it does to the enemy ,its like a dagger to his heart. you can already see it in the response from the taliban. senator graham, bravo!
Just like the Vietnamezation program. First get the Afghans off opium. They won't show Americans how many flunk out of the police & army training programs, because of drugs. They have been high for centuries and have a towns & villages of OD's wasted and dead by the age of 35. It's not going to work or Graham wouldn't be saying a need for permanent US bases. That probably is more realistic for Afghan to become a democratic country without Taliban & AlQuaida, but the USA has run out of military personnel, money & the will. It's one way or the other, get out of Afghan or stay in with no end in sight. I don't care for Graham, but his view of the whole situation over there is it's going to be a lost cause unless we are willing to pay more in blood & money til hell freezes over. This country can't wait that long when we are battling our own demons at home, our government.

not to mention the fact the russians, who are literally bordered with Afghanistan, put 500,00 troops on the ground and lost.
simple solution, special ops teams, flock of drones and a wind-fall of saved money and lives.
elect me.
That's a better plan than what we're doing now, but what are we going to "win"? It's a pile of rocks, let others fight over it.
More peaceful muzzies just doing what peaceful muzzies do....
and the guy in tucson, just doing what peaceful idiots like you do.
While you sit at home a stroke your cock....and watch the trikle down.....

As for the bank job, so what?
We're winning what? What are we winning?
And I agree with everything you just said.
Well, if it's on HBO it must be true...
and how long do we stay? how many teachers do we cut? how much do we spend?

this is what you get with the american way of life.. a combat veteran
A bank robbery in Afghanistan? Sad, very sad that people were killed in the process.
This made me think of time I spent in the 1950's in Afghanistan.
The main bank in the beautiful city of Herat, ( beautiful back then) was guarded by two men. Each dressed in full uniform, and holding a WWI rifle.
Well lets see now, It must be the US military's fault, since they are cutting off the money supply to the taliban. Or else it might be inflation caused by the US printing so much money resulting in highter arms and munitions prices.
