There seems to be a lot wrong here...why did a spectator have a gun in court? Where was the judges' aide at to get powder burns? The man was in a cast and and couldn't even walk and you had to shoot him?

MSNBC reported a story about a courtroom shooting but in the article not much was written about what actually happened. Still in the dark. No facts, nothing. I'm off this forum.

Well, gosh he was a cripple, pissed off and waving a crutch, shouldn't he be shot?

He might have been a "terrorist," with a fake cast on his leg, that was really a bomb, and the crutch could have been fake, and really been a machine gun! .. This is America ... we shoot first & think about it later!

The article states that the court was being held in City Hall, where it was held once a month for people that could not make it to the county seat. This was not a normal courtroom. The type of security you would expect for a courtroom was lacking for this reason. It seems that witnesses said that the man shot did not attack anyone but did get beligerent. The police say that he did attack the judge and tried to get a weapon. No one here yet knows exactly what happened.

Scott, the "witness" identifies herself as one of the guys friends, so naturally she didn't see him reach for a bystander's gun. It was the bad Policeman's fault because he saw a belligerent man lunging for some dumb-arse's gun he/she took to court. Maybe the cop should have waited till the criminal got the gun and started shooting... However, that might look bad for the gun nuts, so they will cover up the part about him trying to get a gun (that has no place in a court, be it in town hall or in a regular courthouse).

The Officer could not get to the Shooting Range this week and figured this gave him a perfectly good excuse to get some target practice in.

OMFG ... did you read the article? The man who was shot was not carrying a firearm, he was carrying a crutch and was shot by a court officer who used his service revolver. NO ONE brought a weapon (unless you want to classify a mobility device as a weapon) into that courthouse who was not authorized to use it.

The very first sentence says he was shot after attacking the judge and attempting to grab a gun from a spectator. So according to the article there were non leo guns in the courtroom

Southsider: Sounds like you've been listening to the Utah legislature? Here in Utah we are proud that everyone, including ex-cons and the insane carry openly or concealed. We are proud that if you live in Utah you can buy a human hunting permit which will allow you to decide if anyone's actions are threatening and shoot them if you feel they are (even if the other person is unarmed and a quadriplegic in a wheelchair). In fact, we love our guns so much here in Utah that the town of LaVerkin passed a law about 4 years ago requiring every adult in town to own one.

Remember, all those movies and stories about shootouts and street shootings in the old west are just liberal lies. The gun kept the peace everywhere. The shootout at the O-K corral was actually a church picnic and some lying left wing hater caused the stories of shooting. It really didn't happen.
