There seems to be a lot wrong here...why did a spectator have a gun in court? Where was the judges' aide at to get powder burns? The man was in a cast and and couldn't even walk and you had to shoot him?
MSNBC reported a story about a courtroom shooting but in the article not much was written about what actually happened. Still in the dark. No facts, nothing. I'm off this forum.
Well, gosh he was a cripple, pissed off and waving a crutch, shouldn't he be shot?
He might have been a "terrorist," with a fake cast on his leg, that was really a bomb, and the crutch could have been fake, and really been a machine gun! .. This is America ... we shoot first & think about it later!
Hell, he might be the shoe bombers .................. cousin, twice removed !
The article states that the court was being held in City Hall, where it was held once a month for people that could not make it to the county seat. This was not a normal courtroom. The type of security you would expect for a courtroom was lacking for this reason. It seems that witnesses said that the man shot did not attack anyone but did get beligerent. The police say that he did attack the judge and tried to get a weapon. No one here yet knows exactly what happened.
Yep! .. If we would just start shooting all the "belligerent" people in this country, we could lower the population by half in about two years, and solve the unemployment problem at the same time!
Scott, the "witness" identifies herself as one of the guys friends, so naturally she didn't see him reach for a bystander's gun. It was the bad Policeman's fault because he saw a belligerent man lunging for some dumb-arse's gun he/she took to court. Maybe the cop should have waited till the criminal got the gun and started shooting... However, that might look bad for the gun nuts, so they will cover up the part about him trying to get a gun (that has no place in a court, be it in town hall or in a regular courthouse).
Drop the crutches or I'll blast ya! I think cops are nervous now and a wee bit trigger happy in 'Sweet Home Alabama." What's the odds that the cop will stand trial?
Yeah, we're basically screwed. This is what happens when you let the public education system go to complete sh!t for over 4 decades. You end up with a nation chocked full of gun toting imbaciles, and more often than not, the worst of them end up wearing a badge.
It's a crying damn shame I tell ya... That damn officer just wounded him! Now... We the tax payer's will have to pay medical bills and when he is healthy then we the tax payers will pay millions to convicted him of assaulting a judge. Then we will pay millions of dollars to house him and feed him in prison. That officer should been sent to the shooting range and be retrained on shooting to kill. It really would have saved us the tax payer a lot of cash!
Just someone excercising their 2nd amendment rights trying to get a judge to follow the US Constitution, I'm sure. You know, the 2nd amendment option the tea baggers talk about.
Sara Williams said she was sitting in the front row when the man, whom she knew, got agitated after the judge fined him $800. He was wearing a cast on his leg and waved one of his crutches in the air.
I guess it just doesn't matter what the witnesses say huh? Not too forthwith they as well said, he never attacked the judge or went after a gun!
How would the angry guy know that anyone else had a weapon? Cops are afraid and trigger happy. If any of you people have visited Ala. you would see what they have for cops. No hair cut's for several months, nasty looking uncreased uniforms. They pull you for something and you have to write your ticket. You sign your name and he witness it with an X. That is Ala. for you.
"GOODWATER, Ala. — A judge pulled a gun on a crutch-swinging defendant who went wild in a crowded rural courtroom after being found guilty of harassment Thursday, a witness said.
A police officer shot and wounded the man, who had a cast on his leg, after he lunged at the judge and tried to grab the weapon, authorities said. But some witnesses disputed the account, saying the man who was shot never threatened the judge."
Bob....You seem to know Leroy very well---By your judgement, does he fit in the Alabama Hood because he made a joke about an obvious mis-spelling or because his parents named him Leroy??
Or could it be because you're the typical arrrogrant pr*ck hiding behind a keyboard??
OMFG ... did you read the article? The man who was shot was not carrying a firearm, he was carrying a crutch and was shot by a court officer who used his service revolver. NO ONE brought a weapon (unless you want to classify a mobility device as a weapon) into that courthouse who was not authorized to use it.
Actually it was posted prior to the story being updated with the details, and it was really kind of a jab at the folks pointing at lack of gun control, so the spirit still holds true.
Moonbeam: "Just shoot them first, before they can cause a problem ...."
Ah, the neo-con, George W. Bush School of logic? Why wait for someone to prove you are in danger when you can kill them before they are even an irritant let alone a threat?
Actually, it's in the bible as quoted by Pope Innocent "Kill them all, let God sort them out."
well it noon and this story tells us absolutely nothing except shots ( may have been) fired , but don't let that stop you folks from ranting about anti this and pro that. who needs the facts right? Simply insert your favorite agenda and start ranting. and whatever you do, Don't forget to get in some political jabs as well.

GOODWATER, Ala. — A man was shot by a police officer after becoming belligerent while inside this town's municipal court, an eyewitness told WBRC-TV.Funny how the article states the man was shot by an officer. It never mentions another gun anywhere only that the guy was being belligerent. So how exactly was metal detectors or tough gun laws going to stop this? Nice job for those of you who realized this. Not so nice job for those of you who thought the belligerent guy was the shooter.

In fact, we love our guns so much here in Utah that the town of LaVerkin passed a law about 4 years ago requiring every adult in town to own one.
Remember, all those movies and stories about shootouts and street shootings in the old west are just liberal lies. The gun kept the peace everywhere. The shootout at the O-K corral was actually a church picnic and some lying left wing hater caused the stories of shooting. It really didn't happen.

Msnbc, you're really ticking me off in sensationalizing stories that are barely worth a mention..the guy was subdued, no one died, and the shooter was a police officer doing his job! Grrr....
Yeah!right, the policeman shot a disabled-man twice, that's real heroic of him and pretty macho,,,,hell let's just give him an award and a medal for courage under fire and set him up on a pedestal as a model citizen for handling the situation with class and finess!
in and of itself no... don't be silly, but when you combine it with actually "cursing" at a neighbor,.......? well ya just gotta draw the line somewhere.
His crutch was really a Russian Uzi made to look like a crutch. The judge being the eagle eye that he is, spotted the crutch/weapon and immediately took action to prevent any injury to innocent bystanders.
Maybe if more judges were packing, criminals would be just a little bit more respectful.
Gee... FACTS are starting to come out now...... and it was a cop shooting someone for being "belligerent", aren't allot of you glad you jumped right out there with your flipent uniformed and in some case's downright absolutely ignorant remarks?
scooter the article I read said defendant lunged at the judge who had pulled a gun trying to wrestle it away from him, so maybe you might think about rethinking your remarks.
Msnbc, your new report says a man was shot and on his way to the hospital. A few lines down in the report, it says no one was hit. A police officer fired two shots doing his job.
This isn't news. Any more than any other combatant in a war zone getting shot would be news. Now, if it happened in another first world country with real gun laws i.e. those places where your average joe is NOT allowed to just stroll in and buy a machine gun over the counter, then we might be talking. Oh come on folks, it was Bubba Joe's Kangarue Court, and the city slicker wouldn't sit down and wasa interruptin Bubba Joe, when Bubba Joe rendered his discision against the city slicker! When the city slicker didn't sit down, I had no other choice, but, to shoot em - and don't ya - all forget - he's a city slicker, for cryin out loud!
Well what exactly was the city slicker charged with? I says here in the paperwork he was charged with speedin on Main Street, excessive braking when pulled over by the deputy, creatin a disturbance in public - be-in-a jack-azz (or, a, beligerent) to the deputy, and fleein without pay'n! What's that fleein without pay'n thang about? Well, says here that the city slicker refused to pay for services rendered by Bubba Joe's Cousin's, Second Sister Eiliene's, Third daughter's (Justine's) entertainment, at the local hoose-gow owned by Bubba Joe's, First Brother in law - Eric! Yep, that what it says right here now lookie!
Yep, that's a justified shootin, if I ever did see one! Ya think Bubba Joe's third cousin to his half-siter, also named Eliene, who's a-the-doctor will agree? Yep, or this ain't Alabama. Hey, that do righm too, That ole city slicker is about to be introduced to the alabama slamma! He, He - It's a joke folks!
isnt this why we have medal detectors?! such a shame...
Yep mom thats it, too bad you didnt wait for the facts before posting.

" A man was shot by a police officer after becoming belligerent while inside this town's municipal court, an eyewitness told WBRC-TV."
Goodwater is a town of only approx. 1600 people. They probably do not have a metal detector. But it does not matter since a COP did the shooting.
Are you saying cops should not have guns either? Well lets just let the crooks have them all then!
amother one, what ya got to say now that a few facts are out bob?
imperious, The lady whom was sitting there said=

Was Larry, Daryl, & Daryl there? ... That accounts for it! ... I saw it ... on Bob Newhart ... this probably was just a rerun! (laugh)
Story reads like Daryl was the reporter.
Please reread the article
Badddboob your just angry because the defendant is as lame as you

first of all try the "reply to post" feature .
second and even more important, try to make sense.
He was calling her out on a misspelling - medal vs. metal.
I didn't realize until now, however, so I empathize with your confusion.
Your right Andrew, i didn't put that together, good job. that is why it is imperative to use the reply to post.
sorry leroy. it is kinda funny now. although i hate the vine grammar/spelling police.
Leroy, you seem to fit the Ala. Hood. What would you know about a Purple Heart?

Looks like that gun free zone w/metal detectors stuff worked great again.
Good work, gun control folks!
What makes you think it wasn't AT the metal detector? You have info no one else does?
A police officer shot a man causing problem....you guys really should read the article before you post...
Marie--it's that driving force to be near the top of the posts---facts be damned.
Actually it was posted prior to the story being updated with the details, and it was really kind of a jab at the folks pointing at lack of gun control, so the spirit still holds true.
Just another trigger happy scared gestapo, shooting an unarmed man.
Marie Pierce .. Absolutely! ... shoot all persons "causing problems" that will eliminate another problem!
In fact, why wait?
Just shoot them first, before they can cause a problem ....

Thanks for playing along though!
i am offended......( you thought of it first )
Yeah---And besides, Gary...."Thet thar smart-azz city-slicker needa killin'"
