The repeated examples of hate for any and all is wide spread. If you do not believe what they believe, you must die. I for one am an infidel, I dont believe one single word they say.
The examples are clear... Islam = Intollerance = Hate
The Christians are there to destabilize the muslims? I hope you're kidding. The Christians have been there for hundreds of years before Islam was even a concept and have been oppressed by the muslims ever since.
"In 641 AD, Egypt was invaded by the Arabs who faced off with the Byzantine army, but found little to no resistance from the native Egyptian population. Local resistance by the Egyptians however began to materialize shortly thereafter and would last until at least the 9th century.
The Arabs imposed a special tax, known as Jizya, on the Christians who acquired the status of dhimmis (conquered sub-class), and all native Egyptians were prohibited from joining the army. Egyptian converts to Islam in turn were relegated to the status of mawali. Heavy taxation was one of the reasons behind Egyptian organized resistance against the new occupying power, as well as the decline of the number of Christians in Egypt." - From Wikipedia
I presume that this is going to happen in any country where there is a muslim majority because I haven't seen many examples to the contrary.
Sometimes people pretend they are on the opposite side and make idiotic statement's like Grunt above. Hard to believe that someone would be that ignorant. Probably Grunt is a troll.
Orbust - I just returned from Egypt. It was a trip of a lifetime and worth going. Do not let these morons deter you from seeing the world's treasures. Egyptians I encountered were friendly. It is a different culture and definitely a culture shock but don't let that stop you. These terrorists will destroy anything anywhere at anytime.
Coptic Christians have been second class citizens and targeted for violence and abuse for far too long. I'm very pleased that the Christmas services were able to take place without further bloodshed but look at what it took to make this happen. And parishoners still had to deal with taunts on their way to worship. One day of "solidarity" is not going to make a difference. Egypt must take action every day to make sure that all of their citizens are safe. What good is it if they go back to business as usual after this grandstand for Christmas services.
This act of terrorism was not carried out by the Egyptian Christian neighbors, it was done by foreigners who most probably belong to Al Qaeda.
AQ has sealed its fate with attacks like these and they'll soon be rooted out of the Middle East once again.
I say once again because even in the old days AQ was unable to gain any foothold in any of the 22 countries that make up the Middle East and that''s how they ended up in Afghanistan before they attacked NYC on 9/11.
But after Monkey Boy decided to instead invade Iraq many Arabs sided with AQ. Now that that anger is gone and Arabs have again seen what AQ is about the table has turned on AQ for good.
Arab Muslims want to be able to do buisness with the Christian world and they have no time for this kind of nonsense by AQ.
It has to be so very very depressing to live in a Muslim country! ''Christians, many sobbing and garbed in black'' So thankful to be born in the USA and not in a land infected by Islamists!
The radicalization of Islam, is going to lead to a world war; a small group of Muslim crazies, have hijacked their religion, they do believe that God is on their side, and that they will win; Hitler believed the same thing, learn from history; crush them now, and for sanity sake, stop letting them in to western country's, they are here and they will attack !
a small group of Muslim crazies, have hijacked their religion
it's the other way around, actually. for instance, in Pakistan the majority support the abusive blasphemy laws, the "moderate" clerics support the murderer of a governor who was trying to change that, and the people showered the same killer with rose petals on the way to his trial. peaceful muslims are and have always been the minority.
I will still state, with conviction, that Islam is still a religion of peace. Nearly all religions have examples (numerous, in some cases) of the radical fringe co-opting the religion's benevolent aspects for their own particular agenda.
But my question, then, to Islamic radicals is this: The Quran gives great praise and respect to Jesus (pbuh), as one of God's messengers. Islam obviously is the religious formation of Mohammad's (pbuh) teachings, but muslims also pay respect to Jesus, similar to how Christians respect and honor the Jewish leaders, Moses (pbuh) and Abraham (pbuh). So, how is it that radical muslims feel it is then justified to kill and maim the very followers of Jesus, when Mohammad himself gave praise to Jesus' life?
PS- "pbuh" means "peace be upon Him", a sign of reverent respect.
Islam needs to understand that their terrorists are going to be it's downfall. If it weren't for the Israeli Jews no Christian would be able to visit and pray in Jerusalem's Holy places.
That is just ridiculous. Christians have always been welcome in the holy places of most Arab countries around the Mediterranean. I have visited the mosques on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and no one thought I was Muslim.
There are some Jewish terrrorists as bad as the Muslim terrorists - like the American born Jew suicide murderer who entered a peaceful mosque in Hebron in 1994 and killed almost 30 people and wounded about a hundred before being overpowered and killed. Another example was the radical Jew (celebrated by some other radical Jews) who murdered Prime Minister Rabin for making peace with Jordan and wanting to make peace with the Palestinians. Terrorists - Christian, Jewish and Muslim are the enemies of everyone else.
Violence creates more radicals - lose your brother or your friend to murderers and you might choose a violent response. Christians in Egypt and elsewhere should not use violence in response to the actions of the terrorists - that is what they want. The main aim of the terrorist attacks in Egypt is to create instability and attack the Egyptian government, which has opposed radical Islamic terrorists for decades.
As noted in the article, prominant Muslims attended the Christian serivces in Alexandria to show solidarity. There may be some discrimination in hiring and rules against conversions, but most Muslims in Mediterranean Arab countries including Egypt are not opposed to Christians practicing their religion in their countries.
So true - thanks for your note - indeed those horrible, wicked Israelis protect the rights of all religions - even as their rights are denied in Muslim countries.
I'm looking at Tompom's and Rafal's comments right now, and, frankly, I can't find any references to, as you put it, "those horrible, wicked Israelis". Could you, please, explain what you mean ? Please...
As for the Jewish terrorists that Tompom mentioned, one was killed on the spot, the other one is serving life in an Israeli prison. You didn't mean this, Simple Simon, did you ? Or are you that simple ?
Don't worry, I understood very well Simple Simon's lame attempt at sarcasm. But I can see that you completely didn't get the meaning of my comment. Read it again, this time pay more attention.
It's pretty clear to me that Simon's post was directed not just at Wanderer, but at Tompom as well.
Grunt.....I try and not name call but you are an idiot. That guy was no more a christian than you are. I do not see Christians strapping bombs to themselves and running into weddings to kill women and children. I have yet to read about christians hanging an 8 year old from a tree because his grandfather helped a muslim and spoke out against what was happening.
You go over there and try to talk to them and help them. See how fast your head is taken.
Well then bamaboy, then I guess those who strap bombs to themselves are no more a Muslim then you are. You can't have it both ways. And by the way, lots of Christians have killed lots of children for even less.
Hey grunt: One Christian shooting a doctor in a church is an isolated crime. Not the same as Islam --as an ideology/religion/ and who knows what -- defending terrorism and happy about it. Did you hear yesterday about how the lawyers praised the murderer of the Pakistani governor throwing petals in his support? Now that should tell you there is something very wrong in the Islamic mentality!
The murderer of the doctor did not represent a religion. He murdered because he was a warped person who was evil. A muslim terrorist does it in the name of his religion and is told he would be rewarded for it. Christians are told that murder will not be rewarded and it is wrong. So your comment really holds no weight in the conversation.
As for christians killing children, do you have any examples of this happening? Because all past examples I know of where children were killed in the name of christianity, the christian world came together and put a stop to it.
To grunt-1263073: You are one of those many people giving opinions here and in other places like a child, who did it first. Instead of being concern about a very isolated case (It happened only once) in the christian faith, you should be more concern about the impact these terrorist acts are having in the 21st century, were news spread instantly. Christianity had its past, but has evolved, and none of the other religions I have heard of in my life, kill in the name of their beliefs. You know that muslim terrorism is constant, and I have yet to see the "moderate" muslims condem these attacks. I think that eventually muslims are going to wake up with a surprise if they do not shape up, because the fact of the matter is that islam, for reasons I do not know, breads intolerance and violence. The political correctness is going to bring tragedy to the world very soon. One final note: I am not an atheist, but I do not practice any religion, but all I hear from other religion is preaching love. They are not perfect, some even with scandals, but at least they have apologize and compensate their victims. I wish I can see the same attitude from the muslims. If you are a muslim, start making a difference!
Cappy, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. But if you'd like to know more about racism in the GOP and in the tea party then I suggest you attend a few meetings. Locally the tea party is a racially mixed group. Personally I think you're just spouting ignorant tripe.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them , I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. matthew 7:21-23
dnimerick, I have been to a tea party meeting. The a fair portion of them are politically active people who are concerned about government spending getting out of control. However, when some of them are allowed to come to rallies with pictures of President Obama as a monkey or calling him a n*gger, the responsible tea party members should do more to keep that kind of display away from their rallies. Those that don't, allow the racists among them to give the rest of them a bad name by association.
"Muslims Show Solidarity as Egypts's Copts Mourn at Christmas" has to be the most misleading intro to an article I have ever read on MSNBC. What do we learn in the article? Two dozen Muslims protested against the suicide blast, a handful of Muslims attended the memorial service, and some government officials expressed regret.
By no stretch of the imagination is this Muslims showing solidarity. On the opposite side of the equation we learn that a Coptic Christian woman was insulted by Muslim men on the way to the memorial service and relations between Muslms and Egyptians have never been worse according to observers at the scene.
grunt, the govenment is NOT going to keep you safe. That job is up to you. If we get a government so big and powerful that it could insure our safety, then who keeps us safe from them? Remember: When seconds count, the police are minutes away.
When push comes to shove a "tolerant" Muslim will side with the radical Muslims long before they would ever side with "infidels." Although a handful of Muslims claim to support tolerance if the radical Muslims came into power they would sign up for the slaughter in a heart beat. America needs to wake up and realize the enemy is not simply at the gate...it is now living next door to us planning our destruction!
Does this quote not show these christian brethren of yours are just as willing to die as the islamic fundamentalists? Replace church with mosque. Replace jesus with Allah. What are you really doing?
When are we going to learn that the problem isn't religion ... that's just the symptom. The plague, is that of "faith," which suspends critical thinking and objects to evidence. Faith, is simply not a compatible software we need running on our brains in the 21st century. It really is as simple as that.
Chad, she is willing to die in church. She did not say she was willing to kill for her church and take as many people from another religion as she could. Big difference in being willing to die somewhere and wanting to kill others when you die.
Why split hairs with semantical-circles and justifiable reasoning? It's this longing for death, or in fact, our propensity to it, that I fear has crippled our species. We die in droves for our faith-based views, regardless of evidence. On the contrary, in some cases *despite* of conflicting evidence.
My point is simply that this highly irrational behavior is something to look at with disgust ... not civility. This is the cancer that comes with faith (which is not a virtue) but a wicked subversion to reality. And, therefore a suspension of it.
When Patrick Henry proclaimed "Give me liberty or give me death!", He did it with a veracity and passion that should be celebrated for it's purity and symbolism of the time. While the irony of such a line being delivered within a church shouldn't escape us. The sad fact that so many have forgone the human liberties behind such a quote (and now replace them with supernatural notions of privileges received after death) comes, to me at least, with a great sadness.
We have such a beautiful existence waiting for us! If only we can die first to obtain it.
This is no virtue. This is no type of existence for a thinking person.
To believe in that which is beyond yourself is noble in deed.
To mask such a notion with the certainties aligned with faith .... well, that is a disservice. Not only to ones self, but to the ones they love.
chad, this woman knows she could be facing death just by going to church but is at peace with that. i respect anyone who refuses to change their behavior just because of threats of violence, her attitude is preventing terrorism from being effective.
it's like a cancer patient wanting to die at home and not in a sterile hospital. contrary to what you think, it has more to do with appreciation for life than disregard for it. as a Copt she knows she's a target whether at home or at church, so if she's going to die, why should she let threats of terrorism stop her from doing the things in life that she enjoys?
My point, is that the very real "terrorism" in this world ... is of our own making. It's our own mind-forged manacles that we've invented that destroy our lives and limit what it means to share solidarity with our fellow species. It's the whip we've created for our own backs that we so readily grasp with unrivaled fervor. We are finding god alright .... sadly, it's coming at the price our souls.
Chad, Point taken and a very thought out one it was.
Only two things I am willing to die for, my family (wife and kids) and my country. That said, I will not go blindly to my death for my country but I would fight for her till the end.
Muslims hate Christians and Jews and it is said in the Koran (their Holy Book) not to trust neither Christians nor Jews and that their money and children and belongings is Halal to be taken by Muslims. It also states that if the infadales don't beleive in the Prophit Mohamad they can be forced by sowrd to adopt Islam. Who are we kidding, it is in their blood, it is a religion that calls for killing and blood in order to go to Heavens. Americans should wake up to their threats and the great numbers that are here and in Europe, that are working to destroy our society and our way of life. A good example is the World Trade Center mosque, how fast can we forget?
When push comes to shove a "tolerant" Muslim will side with the radical Muslims long before they would ever side with "infidels." Although a handful of Muslims claim to support tolerance if the radical Muslims came into power they would sign up for the slaughter in a heart beat. America needs to wake up and realize the enemy is not simply at the gate...it is now living next door to us planning our destruction!
So Christmas in Egypt is on January 7th? Isn't this story little late or you ran out of stories to spread hatred among otherwise tolerant people. People in every religion dislike and even hate other religions. If you say otherwise please contact me, I have a bridge to sell in Brooklyn, you'll love it.
He's right. Growing up, I had Russian neighbors who celebrated Christmas in January. When the kids started school, they ended up with 2 Christmas celebrations. They let Santa come for the kids in December, but they still kept all their decorations up and had a family/religious celebration on the "real" Christmas in January.
Remember, the Bible doesn't give the date of Jesus' birth.
I don't know if this is true, but I have heard before that historians and scholars have determined that Jesus' actual birth would have been sometime around the month of April.
Either way, I'm not sure it really matters when the exact date of Jesus' birth was, since Christmas is mainly about the principles that Jesus taught us.
Yeah, scholars have been working on it. Using the supposed dates when Zacharias saw the angel (I guess they can use what the Bible tells about which priestly family he was part of plus Jewish records of which priestly family served when) and the fact Elizabeth was about 6 months along when Mary was told she would have Jesus, they come up with October or March/April. And then they figure sheep would probably be herded back to their sheepfolds at night unless it was lambing season which is spring.
You know, if God thought it was important for us to know, He would have made sure the date was in the Bible! Jesus said "if you love me, you will keep my commandments." Then followed that with a command to love others.
Orthodox Russians used to celebrate Christmas and Easter a couple weeks later due to the "Gregorian Calendar" that was used prior to the 1800's. This might be it. Otherwise they had a Mass to commemorate those that died. Hard to understand.
The moral of the story is they already got the Saturday people. No it's the Sunday peoples turn! That is what they say in their Mosques in Egypt and the ME.
Pray for those two dozen Muslims that grieved with the Christians and demonstrated solidarity. Hopefully they don't get the Paki Treatment given to that Govenor last week!
Do you have a clue about the phrase Doing God's Work means. It means follow in Jesus's foot steps which means treating everybody with kindness and love. I don't believe in religions because they are the cause of most wars in this world. More people die in these wars
I happen to live in Alexandria. The vast majority of Muslims I know have made a point to express shame at what happened. They hate the terrorists and the effects these acts have on all Muslim people. "People now fear Muslims." is how many expressed it with sorrow.
I expect to see on the vine postings from those who always post quotes from the Koran and other sources that are inflammatory. I wish those who pretend to have such a deep understanding of Islam would use their knowledge of Islam to refute the terrorists rather than feeding hatred and sending out the same messages the terrorists spew to new recruits.
I would like to see some realize that these actions result from the mixing of politics and religion. No cleric speaks in Egypt without approval of the government. The mosques are paid for by the government. The politics of division rules in Egypt as it starts to rule in America. This works, "Blame them -not us." It makes no difference who the "them" is.
There will be those who complain that the Muslims do nothing to protest the terrorists. This is American thinking. I was surprised to learn of supporters of the Copts gathering in support. Such gatherings are not part of the local political tradition. Of course in America every crack pot who supports the terrorists will be featured on TV. Those who express their disagreements will be ignored.
I have lived in Egypt for eight years now and feel perfectly safe. As a rule, Egyptians are totally nonviolent and friendly. The terrorists are able to recruit not because of religion but because of economic stresses felt in a country where most make about $2. a day - and no, you cannot survive on that salary. It is not religion but hopelessness that feeds terrorist activities. Twisted religion is a tool that has been used by demagogues for centuries.
It is a religion of intolerance and violence much the same as christianity and judaism were not quite a millenia ago. They are just primative and are holding to a primative perception of their belief. The muslims only need about another 1000 years to catch up to civilized society.
samenslow, thank you for an insightful and informative post. It's always good to hear from someone who lives there. I am sure that the crushing poverty you mentioned in Egypt has a lot to do with Muslim extremism, but here in the United States that is not the case. Every terrorist who has struck the United States or tried to do so has been middle class and fairly well off.
dnimerick You may be misunderstanding the term "middle class". Often the family's wealth is totally controlled by the father. Life is especially hard for the eldest son who often runs the family business for no pay. The father takes all.
Another problem is the lack of social and economic mobility. A young man can obtain all the necessary degrees for a professional job, but he will not get the job for social reasons (his father was only a doorman, for example.)
Remember here that a doctor is well respected but paid about $50. a month, a teacher earns about the same. Many have salaries of less than $100 a month. Only by living under the same roof can extended families survive. Yet many of these families will be called middle class.
There is sexual frustration here also. A man to get married must have a house and other items paid for in cash. A small apartment here runs about 100,000 LE if it can be found. Remember the pay of less than $100. a month. The girls do not play before marriage. There are many 40 year old virgins here (males).
I would recommend reading Aswany's Yacoubian Building or Mafouse's The Beginning and the End. They will give some insight to life here. The Yacoubian Building was also made into a very good film.
"People now fear Muslims." is how many expressed it with sorrow.
actually, that's just being sorry about the results, not really about the actions. it's like a child who's sorry they got caught, but not actually sorry for what they did.
there's only about 100 Jews left in all of Egypt today (astounding considering they used to have another temple there!). coincidentally, most Christians are already identified by a cross tattoo on their wrist.
The Jews were forced out by Nasser as were many long term foreigners. This had nothing to do with Islam as Nasser was a very secular leader. Later Sadat made agreements with the Brotherhood to secure his power.
It amazes me how many people seem to believe political life here is the same as it is in the USA. It is not. People do not protest the government or anything else. Like smoking, it is bad for your health. Clerics are encouraged to attack the West or anyone but the government. Blame "them". Nothing, or very little, is spoken in the mosques without government approval. All newspapers, including "free" press, are directly under government control.
There is real anger at the actions of the terrorists, not just sorrow at the consequences.
Mubarak is respected here because he keeps Egypt out of wars. Unfortunately, like in the USA more and more, those who hold power fight only to protect their power and privilages.
1. Christians were in Egypt long before Muslims were.
2. I know many good American Muslims, but they need to do more than speak out against obvious terrorism. They need to denounce barbaric aspects of Islamic law which are outdated or ambiguous enough to allow for interpretations that condone terrorism. Muslim terrorists ground their acts in Islamic law.
Over 2000 years ago a man stood up to the religious establishment of the Jews and condemned the "barbaric, outdated, and ambiguous" statements of the "old testament" and established an offshoot religion that teaches its followers to "internalize" their religion and live it within their hearts. That man was Jesus Christ, and the offshoot religion is Christianity. It sounds like it's way past time for the Muslims to do the same.
Christians today understand that concept of internalization, which is why it is foolish to try to categorize modern Christianity with the barbarism of centuries past. It just doesn't happen anymore. Show me some passages of the new testament that perpetuate violence.
The problem comes with coalescing religious philosophy/zealotry with political government. The old testament Judeo law, the Muslim Sharia law, and the Roman Catholic Church of old are perfect examples of why this is bad. Leave governing of the material world to secular politicans and leave punishment of sins to God.
Goofy statements such as yours, and others who constantly want to compare the violence of the old testament to modern Christianity, just expose you all for either your ignorance or the trolls that you seem to be.
America is not a "christian" nation; you are free to be whatever you want to be. Home-grown terrorists are not "christian terrorists" by birthright. I admit I am not a "christian" so I could be mistaken. If I am, please correct me. Don't just blindly flame me, offer some evidence.
It is unfortunate that: ALL muslims do not condemn this - only some; ALL muslims do not condemn blowing up (even their own brethren) - only some. And when you read about the 'some' who do condemn, it is such a minority. It would seem either the rest agree or do not care.
Are some pages missing in their Holy Book - pages about killing people? It is never right to kill intentionally - no religion worth it's salt teaches this!
"Egypt Christians mark mournful Christmas Eve." Not surprising since radical Islam has targeted Middle Eastern Christians for extermination, and have markedly escalated their violence especially against Egyptian Christians. The question is why aren't moderate Moslems confronting the terrorists, and why isn't the civilized world screaming bloody murder?
Muslim leaders attending the Coptic services with Christians is a pretty strong statement against the terrorists. What do you expect them to do?
The Egyptian government is trying to find the terrorists, but finding them may not be easy - they found the suicide bomber. Look at the news stories in Egypt - reported in British BBC news - virtually all of them characterize this as an attack on Egypt, not just Christians. The terrorists don't like the Egyptian government (which made peace with Israel in 1979 and has opposed Hamas and terrorism since than time) and are trying to create instability in Egypt by fomenting Christian/Muslim violence. They are doing the same thing in Iraq - attacking Muslim Shia congregations, hoping they will retaliate against the Sunnis.
I expect them to assist the authorities is digging these animals out so they can be exterminated like the rabid animals they are.
exactly. these acts are committed by devout Muslims, not reclusive underworld criminals who never show their faces in public. like good Muslims, they go to mosque regularly and their community knows who they are. they just don't say anything.
I have a friend who is from Egypt and is a Christian. The reason her and her family moved to the states is because of the way Christians are treated in Egypt. They literally felt like outcasts in their own country. Even their friends would condemn them for being Christian. She is a wonderful person and it is really sad that she cannot feel welcome in her own country. What kind of religion preaches hate?
i am an egyptian. i do not agree with u, maybe he feels that way because they are minority like many other muslims maybe feel that way in USA or in the western countries, i have christian friends and i do not differentiate at all between my friends according to religion,
I am glad to hearyou accept people for who they are regardless of religion. As I am not the one who made the statement, my egyptian friend did, you are not disagreeing with me so much as my friend. I am not in the situation to make a personal statement, I can only state what I have been told.
The bottom line is the family is in the states now due largely to the discrimination they faced in Egypt.
My questions "What kind of religion teaches hate" was somewhat of a rhetorical one. Christians say time and time again that their god loves everyone, while Muslims condemn terrorists saying that Islam does not condone acts of hatred. It is not the religion so much as the individual.
There's a big difference between hateful people and a hateful religion. Christianity teaches love and from what I've read here, Islam teaches intolerance.
And though there are intolerant and judgmental Christians, that is not what they were taught or should have been taught.
I completely agree with you, that is why I say it is the individual. However, many Muslims would say that Islam is a tolerant religion.
Christians tend to teach hate and intolerance at times. My stepson is currently enrolled in a Baptist private school (he wouldn't be if I had anything to do with it, but I am just the step mom). He has told us that they teach racism and sexism. I do not think it is the Baptist religion (I have attended baptist churches) so much as the individuals running the school.
Turn on a Christian radio station and listen. You will quite possibly hear more hatred preached than Christ's love, more Old Testament than New. Words of love may be used, but listen carefully.
I listen to Christian radio all the time. Have no idea where you are coming from, but neither the Christian station I listen to, or the rock music Christian station my kids listen to are like that.
Ghandi once said to a Christian visitor, "I really like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians, for they are so unlike your Christ".
The point being, all major religions teach peace and tolerance. It is not the intrinsic message of the religion that is wrong, but the interpretation by the violent, bigoted minority within the religion that is wrong.
Christianity has been greatly altered from the original teachings of Jesus. Look at how the Bible was canonized, or for example, simply listen to modern-day evangelicals discuss their profound hatred of homosexuals (which Jesus never mentioned). Today's Christianity should really be called "Paulianity" since many of the contemporary views of the Church are found paul's writings, not Jesus'.
I often wonder what Muhammad Ali thinks of all this. One of the most recognized figures around the world and he remains silent. One word from him and something might happen for the good, but I guess his changing to Islam was only a way out of the army.
The rest of the Islamic world needs to stand up and make it clear how they feel. To our face. Tell us and the rest of the world that these kinds of attacks are wrong.
And for those that say all religions have their crackpots, I must agree with you. But the scale by which the muslims react is almost unthinkable. Every day another report of 20, 30, 50 killed in a suicide bombing. It has become acceptable. A previous post said that as Christians, we should clean up the Bible before we attack another religion. As Christians, we do not follow the OLD Testament, that of the vengeful God. Find me one phrase in the NEW Testament where bloodshed is looked upon with honor.
Leaders involved in trying to resolve Conflicts in this region would do well to check out the 2010 book - Visions in conflict: International Perspectives on values and enmity.
A conflict in visions stands at the center of major international and national crises in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, or elsewhere. Whether in mass killing, genocide, or intractable conflict, ideology is usually present and plays important role. By ideology (political, religious, economic, social, or some other) is meant visions of social arrangements and human relations that provide meaning and hope for a group. Such ideologies can identify others as enemies who stand in the way of their fulfillment.
The volume contains essays written by experts from around the world on powerful vehicles of conflict resolution-namely, religion, psychology, education and training, psychotherapy, and sports. The essays shed light on the process of peace and reconciliation in challenging venues from South Africa and the Congo to Rwanda, and other parts of the world such as Kosovo, Iraq, etc.
and by the way every reasonable muslim person is discust by these horrifc massacres and he knows that the point of this attack is create sedition adn instability and make the western countries and all the christians all over the world hate muslims and be discriminated, those terrorist disguise as muslims but their objective is quite the opposite. the people who are defending these massacres they are justifying why is it when muslims killed in afghanistan or in palestine by hundreds no one does a thing( ia m explaining their point of view ) but i tell them that this is not afghanistan or iraq, this was meant to destabilize the country's national security and it can't be justified. i hope u understand me and sorry for my bad english.
If the politically correct media reported the Truth as it really is there would be a lot less confusion in so far as who the bad guys are and who are the good guys. Sounds as though this Islam religion is in turmoil. To teach members to hate, murder, disrespect women and many other sick bylaws that are the premise of this so called religion illustrates how Bad it is. I would not want to have any part in it. These folks who are good muslims should by all means get the word out that this so called religion is going in the wrong direction. Too bad they don’t have a leader like the Pope to give semblance and good direction. Appears that the leaders that I have heard of are Criminals. Bin Laden ??
Muslims should be ashamed to be in the same religion as the terrorist that attacked the church. They call themselves good Muslims, but what would your great Muhammad think of you killing inocent people just because they don't see religion the same way. Shameful is the only polite word to describe these acts of hatred and cowardace.
oh really!!, if u think that muslims should be ashamed then tell me who were the ones that caused world war 1 and 2 which killed millions of people( can u even imagine such massacres?!!) or bosnia, or in afghanistan in the time of the soviets or even the crusades, or even iraq which more than 100 thousand men women and children civilians were killed. if u really think that this is about religion then u should really be the ones that be ashamed of himself.
Muslims Here in the U.S. and everywhere else are never going to speak up for the simple reason that they Agree with the Radicals. What other reason is there. Islam says there is only Allah. All others who don't believe will be killed.
And none so stupid as those that believe in Religion. Of course I will say it is a Very good business. I should have gone into it a long time ago. Maybe I can find a piece of toast with an Image on it.
This article does NOT "speak of muslims speaking out". It is a solidarity gathering held by the top leaders of the government - not the general muslim public. A one day solidarity by a few will not change anything.
It is time for Muslims to show solidarity! Lets not make Islam a religion of satan.
Too late....
The repeated examples of hate for any and all is wide spread. If you do not believe what they believe, you must die. I for one am an infidel, I dont believe one single word they say.
The examples are clear... Islam = Intollerance = Hate
These Christians are there to destabilize a Muslim country.
an eye for an eye ,return the favor.
Grunt, U are an idiot... Useless by all measure. Its people like you that create these kinda situations. We need less of your type in the world.
Great post, Wayne.
It already is!
The radicalization of Islam, is going to lead to a world war; a small group of Muslim crazies, have hijacked their religion, they do believe that God is on their side, and that they will win; Hitler believed the same thing, learn from history; crush them now, and for sanity sake, stop letting them in to western country's, they are here and they will attack !
it's the other way around, actually. for instance, in Pakistan the majority support the abusive blasphemy laws, the "moderate" clerics support the murderer of a governor who was trying to change that, and the people showered the same killer with rose petals on the way to his trial. peaceful muslims are and have always been the minority.
Clarification - violence against the terrorists would be fine in respose, but not violence against innocent Muslims to retaliate.
Wanderer,
Christians, both Arab and non-Arab, has been living, and practicing their faith, in Jerusalem for ages.
So true - thanks for your note - indeed those horrible, wicked Israelis protect the rights of all religions - even as their rights are denied in Muslim countries.
Simple Simon,
I'm looking at Tompom's and Rafal's comments right now, and, frankly, I can't find any references to, as you put it, "those horrible, wicked Israelis". Could you, please, explain what you mean ? Please...
As for the Jewish terrorists that Tompom mentioned, one was killed on the spot, the other one is serving life in an Israeli prison. You didn't mean this, Simple Simon, did you ? Or are you that simple ?
It is clear to me that simple simon made sarcastic remarks. He did not mean what you think he meant. Read it again.
farideh,
Don't worry, I understood very well Simple Simon's lame attempt at sarcasm. But I can see that you completely didn't get the meaning of my comment. Read it again, this time pay more attention.
It's pretty clear to me that Simon's post was directed not just at Wanderer, but at Tompom as well.
Terroists give muslims a bad reputation, if they would stand up against radicals in the US more people in the US would have more respect for muslims.
Did YOU try and stop the Christian from shooting a doctor in a CHURCH? It gives ALL Christians a bad name.
I agree with you completely. I also believe that the same can be said for the racists in the tea party and GOP.
I hope our government has a plan B, because plan A isn't working. Give these people an inch and they bow up a city block.
Just like the Oklahoma bombers. The government didn't keep us safe and children died.
grunt, the govenment is NOT going to keep you safe.
Get ready America. This show is coming to a church near you!!
I'm ready
Was this meant as a threat or just a warning?
you,re not alone.
'I wish I could die in church'
Does this quote not show these christian brethren of yours are just as willing to die as the islamic fundamentalists? Replace church with mosque. Replace jesus with Allah. What are you really doing?
When are we going to learn that the problem isn't religion ... that's just the symptom. The plague, is that of "faith," which suspends critical thinking and objects to evidence. Faith, is simply not a compatible software we need running on our brains in the 21st century. It really is as simple as that.
Critical thinker, Political Correctness will stop you from protecting yourself.
Chad, she is willing to die in church. She did not say she was willing to kill for her church and take as many people from another religion as she could. Big difference in being willing to die somewhere and wanting to kill others when you die.
bamaboy --
Why split hairs with semantical-circles and justifiable reasoning?
I understand your valid argument Mateo.
I believe you. Now convince The Idiots we put in office.
It used to be January 7 everywhere. After the schism the Roman Catholic Church changed it. Orthodox Christians still celebrate on the original date.
I'm sure you'd have to pull your head out of your ass before the sale.
Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas in January. Coptic Christians follow the Orthodox Church calender.
The Bible does not give the date Jesus was born. What is important is that we celebrate His coming, not the date.
It is sad to think there are those who believe the Creator needs them to perpetuate violence to validate their belief.
Not much of a God if he/she need humans to do his/her work for him/her!
Thank you for some truth!
The Yacoubian Building was also made into a very good film.
actually, that's just being sorry about the results, not really about the actions. it's like a child who's sorry they got caught, but not actually sorry for what they did.
These guys have profiling down to a science eh?
Wonder if Jews have to wear a yellow arm band and star of David? (Just half kidding).
Don't worry. The vast majority of Jews were cleansed from Alexander and Egypt years ago!
there's only about 100 Jews left in all of Egypt today (astounding considering they used to have another temple there!). coincidentally, most Christians are already identified by a cross tattoo on their wrist.
Mateo
And you need to speak out against all the barbaric, outdated and ambigious statements of the Bible.
Rick, last i checked, Christians weren't the ones with the problem adapting to the modern world.
@Rick-881466
Religion is noting more than a tool the ones who seek power use to control others.
I don't know if all religions are, but that religion certainly is!
And you need to learn to spell before you can be taken seriously.
Religion is Brainwashing pure and simple. I have a Bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell to one of you Holy Rollers.
Coming soon to a town near you!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul, I wish I could disagree with you.
"What do you expect them to do?"
"What kind of religion preaches hate?" - Some adherents (a minority) of Christianity, Judaism and Islam - look at the commments on this site.
i am an egyptian. i do not agree with u, maybe he feels that way because they are minority like many other muslims maybe feel that way in USA or in the western countries, i have christian friends and i do not differentiate at all between my friends according to religion,
I am glad to hearyou accept people for who they are regardless of religion.
Mr. Ali has MS and can barely speak at this point. He's not currently available.
Leaders involved in trying to resolve Conflicts in this region would do
well to check out the 2010 book - Visions in conflict: International
Perspectives on values and enmity.
A conflict in visions stands at the center of major international and
national crises in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, or elsewhere. Whether in mass
killing, genocide, or intractable conflict, ideology is usually present and
plays important role. By ideology (political, religious, economic, social, or
some other) is meant visions of social arrangements and human relations that
provide meaning and hope for a group. Such ideologies can identify others as enemies who stand in the way of their fulfillment.
The volume contains essays written by experts from around the world on powerful vehicles of conflict resolution-namely, religion, psychology, education and training, psychotherapy, and sports. The essays shed light on the process of peace and
reconciliation in challenging venues from South Africa and the Congo to Rwanda,
and other parts of the world such as Kosovo, Iraq, etc.
and by the way every reasonable muslim person is discust by these horrifc massacres and he knows that the point of this attack is create sedition adn instability and make the western countries and all the christians all over the world hate muslims and be discriminated, those terrorist disguise as muslims but their objective is quite the opposite. the people who are defending these massacres they are justifying why is it when muslims killed in afghanistan or in palestine by hundreds no one does a thing( ia m explaining their point of view ) but i tell them that this is not afghanistan or iraq, this was meant to destabilize the country's national security and it can't be justified. i hope u understand me and sorry for my bad english.
Thank you Philly Boy. You said what I wanted to say and better.
Yet this article speaks of Muslim speaking up. "There are none so blind as those who will not see, none so deaf as thos who will not listen."
A one day solidarity by a few will not change anything.
would u give me a verse or any evidence from the quran that says that because i really wanna know where did u read this?!!
I think Bush should take some responsibility for the conditions of Christians in Middle East.
But Obama gave that big speech in Cairo! He apologized and everything!
