I see no difference between the excessive snows now and the blizzards that happened in the late 19th century, which I found recorded in my grandfather's journal in the winter of 1887 and his trip to the Klondike during the gold rush in 1898. It's just hyperactive weather triggered by massive cyclonic lows -- do you people even LOOK at the satellite images? This excessive snowfall in Europe is caused by that massive cyclonic center that first fed endless snows on the North American continent last week, then crossed the Atlantic, picked up a LOT of moisture on the way, and because it's still rotating over the Atlantic, is now dumping massive snow on the UK, Scandinavian peninsula, western Europe, Russia, and eastern Europe. There are plenty of records of erratice weather, going back to the Roman empire, when the Tiber River froze one winter. At the end of the Roman rule in Europe, in the late 5th century, a huge mass of starving Celts bulldozed their way across a frozen Rhine River and overwhelmed the sparse Roman legion on the other bank.

Well, here's your big chance to find out. Ignoring your insults and responding to your opinions -
Of course there are groups and people who stand to gain and those who stand to lose, in wealth and power, depending on who "wins" the political debate in this country about climate change. So naturally there's hype around the issue.
And believe it or not, I actually hope you're right about climate change and I'm wrong.
But those pesky 97% of the world's climatologists keep saying it isn't so.
And I do think that fact alone should give any thinking person pause.
Why is it that concern for our Earth is put down so forcefully by a few?? There is pollution everywhere on the planet. We are lucky that we still have weather at all. Respect the Earth and let us try to clean it up as best we can.
It's important to distinguish between weather : short term and climatology: longer term views of weather patterns.
Climate changes happen, naturally, and it's now almost certain that there is almost unstoppable climate change due to man's influence upon the world. It's heating things up, way in excess of any natural phenomena and natural patterns of change that have happened since the earth was formed.
During any climate change that earth has: whether warming or cooling - you can get severe weather problems, that may be in the same or opposite direction to the longer term climate change. Any aberration from the longer term trend does not mean that the bigger pattern isn't still there, it's just a blip.
Stay focused on the bigger picture. Get concerned if your local area is going to have significant movement in your climate: some areas will be more greatly impacted than others. If you're lucky and you won't be drastically affected, then you will likely face the consequences of a world where others may be displaced, where natural resources, including water and food, will become scarce commodities. Even worse, if people are displaced from their countries, consider where they - or you - will be going.
Next up, our children and subsequent generations will be facing a different world. A warmer back yard in winter does not mean that all is rosy for us or for them: it will be a piece in the larger dynamic that will mean that people around the world will need to consider and care for each other in ways that they have never done before.
Remember, scientific theories are just that: they seek to have interpreted the available data and proposed the most likely scenarios. You can't make theory truth, or invalidate it, until either after the time, or until better data comes along that proves or disproves theory.
Disruption of the northward flow of the Gulf Stream is one 'theoretical' effect of sea water warming from the increased atmospheric CO2 attributable to fossil fuel combustion. Increasingly severe Northern European winter weather is one projected consequence. Hopefully, NOAA and other responsible agencies are intensively assessing if this is, in fact, now happening.
Climate changes happen, naturally, and it's now almost certain that there is almost unstoppable climate change due to man's influence upon the world. It's heating things up, way in excess of any natural phenomena and natural patterns of change that have happened since the earth was formed.
I would point out that Man is part of Nature, and so anything Man does is totally natural. But that aside, the geological record shows that the Earth's global temperature has been both higher and lower than it is today, multiple times, and that according to ice core measurements, in the past changes of up to 7 degrees have happened in less than 100 years. So the only thing "unprecedented" about what's happening now is the political posturing of those trying to profit off the taxpayer by scare tactics.
I would be one of those babies. I've been in the cold snowy weather in Minnesota, Michigan & Canada, but never for more than a week. As much as I enjoyed those trips and real winter weather, I couldn't wait to get back to the desert.
If you got 17 inches of snow and you went out shopping and driving, that just shows you are an unorganized, lazy individual that waits until the last minute to get things done. You have no choice but to go out in extreme conditions. I sincerely hope we do not work at the same company. i am sure a lot of people where you work have to cover your procrastinating a**.
In minnesota we just deal with whatever comes our way, the only ones that whine about it are the TV reporters and the trash that has moved here in the last 5 years.
Blackandwhite: In minnesota we just deal with whatever comes our way, the only ones that whine about it are the TV reporters and the trash that has moved here in the last 5 years. You are right. You just deal with it. I'm in Ireland at the moment. There is not a lot of equipment to deal with this kind of weather. A few centameters does shut things down. But hey, listen to the radio stations and TV stations talking about all the cars in the ditches etc along I394/ I494/ I694/I35 (E&W) in Minnesota.
Well, in the 70's it was fear of an ice age....maybe the Libs can just go back and forth. In the winter, they can cry global cooling global cooling!!! and in the summer they can go back to global warming fears. It would be alot smoother for them that way hahaha
Yeh and your the picture of intelligence. Bet you still believe in man caused global warming. Where is Al Gore? Warming himself by a carbon produced fireplace in one of his many pilfered mansions I would guess. How much of your money went into his purchase? How do you like those twisty feely light bulbs now? Oh and your over three dollar a gallon gas?
How about Global Warming being the cause of Al Gore's riches. LOL His scam rivals that of Madoff. Nothing is ever said about the scam of statue man is it? I bet you will follow your Democrat socialists right into the soup lines too.
Yes, God forbid anyone yuk-yukking or blinded by politics should actually read up on climate change...they might see get the connection between weather extremes and climate change/global warming and understand what's going on.
But thanks to Concerned 007 and others who continue to patiently explain.
... glad to have been in Vienna when the snow was not (this much of) an issue ... makes for a 'winter-wonderland' to be sure, but only if you're already there!
Should have been on Long Island tuesday for the 2" we got. The expressway was one big parking lot. You have as many !d!o!s here driving on the road as over there. OOps, I have to correct myself: I know there are more on Long Island. People: if you are scared to drive in and on the white stuff please stay home.
Is there no compassion left at all in all your fundie, grinchy, seventy-eleven times smaller hearts for your fellow human beings? At all?
Just a lot of sanctimonious, acrimonious, meanspirited vitriolic tripe.
That's how I feel about all of you. And, no, I wouldn't expect any of you to help me out in a crisis.
Yet you hijack the word "Christian" and continue to believe in your ridiculous myths--and your harsh, uncharitable interpretation of them. The prevailing attitude of the radical right wing fundamentalist Xtian extreme fringe makes me sick.
If you are so hardy, then go shovel your neighbors sidewalk.
And WE make the weather ? We can't even give a good weather report . Egos- look back in history . Man is so odd - we must say something ? See we " KNOW " .
Youre right Tina----if I could, I would choose the Keys. It is beautiful from Key Largo all the way to Key West....one of the best scenic drives in the USA if you aren't trapped in a traffic horror.
Time delay Bush supporters - see all of his short comings finally!!! But keep thinking that it is President Obama. What comes next? assigning all of the good things our beloved President is doing now to some future republican administration?
I hope those global warming snake oil salesmen are freezing their damn azzes off. And what about those damn freeloading rioters over in England? I hope their damn ass is frozen to their protest signs. It would serve them right.
The earths axis tilts a few degrees ( it did last year) slightly changing the magnetic field, altering and giving a different true north. Which alters winds and jet streams and various ocean stream movements. Again altering weather patterns. A few volcanoes pump more nasty gasses into the atmosphere in a week than humans can put in in 50 years. Thus we get climate change. What we need to do is establish a carbon credits system to punish the wrong doers to reward those who thought up the idea of taxing the air we breath and the water we consume.. Ahh climate change, that will explain what happened to global warming.
You are correct. Days have shortened by almost 9 microseconds due to recent (geological recent) shifts in the earths crusts or plates. Ha lol I thought I was just slowing down a bit and couldn't get as much done as I used to during the day.
The earthquake that struck Chile was certainly less deadly than the one that hit Haiti. But the Chilean tremors were so powerful that they have shifted Earth’s axis and shortened the days.
The change is not very evident though as the days have become shorter by only a fraction of a second.
Back to court for you Lawyer's Buddy
According to scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the 8.8 magnitude quake that hit Chile has moved planet’s axis enough to speed up Earth’s rotation. As a result, our days have become shorter by 1.26 microseconds compared to last week.
As per the analysis of scientists, the earthquake has moved the planet’s figure axis, the axis on which Earth’s mass is balanced, by 8 centimeters, or 3 inches
Seems like that would have some effect on the climate be it hot or cold. If the axis wobbles more then the seasons become more severe do they not? Although 3" may not seem like a lot it does show that change to the rotation is possible.
Ummmm. a few degrees per year isn't correct, that much tilt would be huge. Tilt varies about 2.5 degrees total over a period of about 42,000 years. Making a tilt of .00006 degrees per year more like it. Got this info from Wikipedia in case anyone was wondering...
As per the analysis of scientists, the earthquake has moved the planet’s figure axis, the axis on which Earth’s mass is balanced, by 8 centimeters, or 3 inches
So I should move my house 3" further south, north, east, or west to adjust for this? I want my micro seconds back.
I am a liberal and I get sooooo confused. I can't remember is this is global warming or cooling. We should all be patriots and donate all of our income to fix which ever one it is this week. Only elitist liberals and ECO nutjobs can control the worlds weather. Look how great we did with the US economy...... Take a bow Barney and Chris. In CA yesterday, they just approved a carbon credit swindle for businesses. Hope all you other states can handle all of the ones that will be fleeing from here. Thank God for Jerri Brown, Botoxer, Nancy and all the other eletists....
That's true, alghourd you're are a liberal. There are no such things as conservatives; only dopes that follow progress of society.
Case in point: "Gosh, we shouldn't let women vote; what is this world coming to?", "Colored folks at my school? Not in my lifetime!" "There is nothing wrong with burning fossil fuels, it is just a big scam. Why waste money trying to clean the environment? Who cares about the future, I got mine now!"
I'm not saying all progressive agendas are right, there are plenty of nutty ideas on the left. But is has been my observation that there are far more unintelligent, ignorant people on the right.
Global warming is happening. The overall average global temp is rising each year little by little. That doesn't mean there won't be some cold days and some cold places along the way, but the overall average temp of the planet is rising. That's why most glaciers and ice packs have significantly shrunk (or disappeared) in recent decades (just look at the satellite photos, a picture is worth 1,000 words, and the proof is right there for you to see with your own eyes if you for some reason don't believe the thermostats around the globe.)
Yes and it's the fault of our politicians!!! If we could force them to close their traps for a while they would not be expelling all of that hot air, and the environment would return to normal. Solution to global warming is only a vote away.
They more than likely are shrinking from lack of precipitation. They will shrink in their short summer, but if precipitation is lacking throughout the rest of the year, they won't replenish. I can guarantee you, the northern glaciers are not melting right now.
The Glaciers have been retreating for millions of years, Long before man ever set foot on this planet, The Grand Canyon,Fiords to name a few things were created by the retreat of the glaciers, Some parts of the world that were covered by water are now deserts, plains and forests.
it's climate change. If you bothered studying science or paying attention to what the majority of scientists are saying, you'll know that the glaciers are melting at a rapid pace. Yes, climate has changed, but never this rapidly. If you believe otherwise, then you're listening to the big oil companies who rake in billions in profits and pay no taxes. So next time you complain about Al Gore's statements about global climate change being a waste of tax payer dollars, remember that the oil companies not only don't pay taxes, they get a huge refund from old Uncle Sam every year. Guess who pays for it instead? You and me. I'd rather my tax dollars went to renewable clean energy sources rather than billion dollar refunds for the most profitable companies in the nation
Big Al Gore dosen't pay much in the way of taxes either, collects a big retirement check from you and me and the stingy *!stard won't even give me a ride on his shiny new jet.
You need to get your facts correct, look up the history of temperature change and there was a rapid change in temperature of about 7 Deg C I believe that happened thousands of years ago and as I recall the industrial revolution only happened over the past 100 or so years not 12,000 years ago. The Ice Age ended about 12,000 years ago, caused by a global warming of a temperature increase of around 7°C and major sea level changes.
kjho1: what you say doesnt change the fact that the weather patterns are disturbingly different over the last few decades. what Holly said about glaciers is true, and it doesn't even take a scientist to tell you: i can literally walk from my job in Alaska to a glacier that has diminished by a mile over the last 20 years. man-made? Who knows? is it happening? yes. Why not try to address it while we can?
Al Gore never called it Climate change, he called it Global warming, climate change came when they realized all the people were not blind sheep such as yourself. You worship a man like this who spends more in a month on electric and leaves a bigger carbon footprint than the people he tells to cut back so he can have more. It is nothing more than a big scam to rip the people off and get more for themselves.
"A new survey of over 500 peer reviewed scientific research papers on climate change, written between 2004 and 2007, has concluded that less than half endorse what has been dubbed the "consensus view," that human activity is contributing to considerable global climate change.
In direct conflict with assertions by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that a scientific consensus agrees it is 90% likely that man is responsible for warming, Medical researcher Dr. Klaus-Martin Schulte's survey contends that only 45% support the theory and that is only if you include papers that merely lean towards endorsement."
Holly for every point there is a counter point, as well as for every survey there is a counter survey, quess everyone just has to make up there own minds. Hope you didn't put up a real tree for xmas, we need all the trees or a fake one that the oil it comes from polutes the air
Or maybe we should tax the oil companies more to please you, that way the "Big Oil Companies" will just pass the tax increase on to you, instead of $3.00 a gallon, now you can pay $4.00 a gallon.
Fed up with gov, the oil does not pay taxes. You pay them at the pump. The war is funded at the pump, even SS and medicaid are taxed at the pump. Holly is right, they don't pay taxes, You pay it for them. It doesn't matter what they pay in taxes, it gets passed on to you at the pump, in your dishwashing liquid, plastics, transportation costs, etc. Its in everything made with oil.
Blame "big oil"...that seems to be the cause of EVERYTHING that's wrong with the world and the the universe, right? I take it those who blame everything on big oil don't drive cars, perhaps heat their homes, or use ANY products made from petrolium. Yeah, that's what I thought.
Two options for a changing climate are natural earth changes and man-made pollution dumped into the air. Being conscious of our toxicity and fixing it should be common sense, not listening to everyone bitch about Al Gore.. Big oil doesnt care about fixing antyhing and seems as if the "Drill Baby Drill" crowd is so obnoxious and yet so oblivious, complaining about whatever they are told to complain about.
Not true. There was a 22 degree rise in temperatures in 50 years based on the Greenland ice cores that happened around 12,000 years ago. Let me guess, natural variation right? Convenient.....
Big oil doesnt care about fixing antyhing and seems as if the "Drill Baby Drill" crowd is so obnoxious and yet so oblivious, complaining about whatever they are told to complain about.
Nobody is "forcing" you to use fossil fuels....by all means, stop, lead by example, and quite being such a hypocrite.
glaciers and ice packs are not shrinking just check it out
17 Oct 10 - "Antarctic sea ice reached its annual maximum in September. September 2010 was the third largest sea ice extent on record (2.3 percent above average), behind 2006 (largest) and 2007 (second largest).
"According to Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology, the continent received an average precipitation of 1.91 inches (48.4 mm) during September — nearly double the 1961–1990 average and the highest September value on record.
"Keep in mind that at an average temperature of -60 C extra precipitation is SNOW. And a new record. But don’t expect the MSM (mainstream media) to report it."
dude that is junk you are spewing. Alaskans, including Sara Palin, have commented on undisputed signs of a warming trend. might not be man-made, but it is happening.
AND, when asked about all the record cold weather around the world, White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, invoked "climate change"...
What happened to "global warming"? I thought THAT was the problem, heck, we KNOW that climate changes. Or, maybe it's just "winter"...
Somebody quick get hold of Big Al Gore, Im sure he will be able to explain it all and buy himself another private jet with the proceeds of his speil.
Al's too busy chasing nookie, he doesn't have time to explain his shell game of bilking gabillions (Nancy Pelosi's term fo' a lot of money) from unsuspecting taxpayers.

Joey, How is it Bush's fault or America's fault or DHS for the tilting of the earth on it's axis. You've been drinking too much Kool-aide.
It's a winter storm, people!! They tend to happen in the winter! Yeah, it's climate change! Change from summer to winter!!
Not in Europe. Weather patterns are shifting. That's why the last decade was also the hottest in recorded history.
Obama's from Chicago or is it Hawaii or is it Maylaysia..Anywho,,,he or any Northern Yankee can teach the Europdopes how do drive in the snow.

Yea... Ocean front property in Arizona.
I knew George Strait was a prophet!
So the only thing "unprecedented" about what's happening now is the political posturing of those trying to profit off the taxpayer by scare tactics.
what a bunch of babies - we got 17 inches in one day last week - I was out shopping and driving in it
I would be one of those babies. I've been in the cold snowy weather in Minnesota, Michigan & Canada, but never for more than a week. As much as I enjoyed those trips and real winter weather, I couldn't wait to get back to the desert.
MN Gril?? WOW! 17 inches! That's alot for you to take! Even if it was in TWO days!
Any Minnasoootan can out drive any Europoop Head when it comes to winters wrath.
Wow! A few CENTIMETERS throw the whole of their society into chaos. What a bunch of tough, tough people.
The weather here in Europe is not headline news as it is in America. It must be a slow news day in USA
)
Let me guess: global warming. The root cause of male pattern baldness, snowfall in winter and teen pregnancy.
Global warming for sure - the result is climate change - more hot some places, more cold others. Could be el nino or nina, but I don't think so.
Well, in the 70's it was fear of an ice age....maybe the Libs can just go back and forth. In the winter, they can cry global cooling global cooling!!! and in the summer they can go back to global warming fears. It would be alot smoother for them that way hahaha
And don't forget the Korean conflict.
Or AIDS.
and the children....dont forget about the children!!!
Smile, is just awesome, everything is political, I suppose the world can all
look to Rush and Beck for ignorance - the sad part is so many actually listen to
and trust what is said by these bafoons.
Dan, more likely el stupido.
BTW, climate change has been happening for over 4 billion years. Really, why do you think we have a monopoly on it? More human centric propaganda.
If it's too cold to go out, I could see teen pregnancy resulting :)
... glad to have been in Vienna when the snow was not (this much of) an issue ... makes for a 'winter-wonderland' to be sure, but only if you're already there!
I'm from WI....if we shut down every time we got 8" we'd never get anything done. Thought the Germans were tougher than that.
Should have been on Long Island tuesday for the 2" we got. The expressway was one big parking lot. You have as many !d!o!s here driving on the road as over there. OOps, I have to correct myself: I know there are more on Long Island. People: if you are scared to drive in and on the white stuff please stay home.
Hmm, Wisconsin MAY have more idiots, but NY, especially on Long Island, northern New Jersey and southern CT certainly has more a**holes.
LiberalLibrarian -
People-haters and planet-killers should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they're not...that requires an actual conscience.
And WE make the weather ? We can't even give a good weather report . Egos- look back in history . Man is so odd - we must say something ? See we " KNOW " .
Thank God For Southern California :-)
Yeah, with all its Mexican gangs.....
you had to bring racism into some TOTALLY unrelated thing Scrimminy......sheesh, just change your name to Scrooge.....Merry Christmas to you anyway.
Southern California: nice weather but too many people!
I prefer the Florida Keys.
As long as you don't have to steal water to live, like So.California They only exist to give a foothold to Mexican Gangs.
Youre right Tina----if I could, I would choose the Keys. It is beautiful from Key Largo all the way to Key West....one of the best scenic drives in the USA if you aren't trapped in a traffic horror.
Darn that "global warming" anyway !! Gore is really on to something ! Just think how bad it could have been without the "global warming" !!
He can shelter the planet with his fat ass :)
Bush's fault
lol! and I'm a democrat Mitch....good one. The man was a global monstrosity in my eyes but he is not responsible for everything :-)
If it is Bush's fault he must be the most power being in the world.
That's funny mary p - people blame Obama for so many things, so must be he is too.
Obama's just an idiot. He couldn't be responsible for wiping his own ass.
The climate change people don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. IF you think this is severe weather , read a little history.
Thank God the Britts are not as complacent as the Yanks! Change never happens when people are silent.
I just flag those as advertising, since they have yet to declare thenselves as a religion. They are simply selling their lies.
Mary P, those who study climate change are so much better versed in history than you are it's not quite fair to even make a comparison.
You think you know more about climate and weather than people who have spent their whole life studying it? Who do you think you are?
wow..moving to Stuttgart in the coming weeks!
Ohwheeeeee
Up in Yosemite National Park we are still waiting for our next big snow event. Right now it is nearly noon and cold and rainy...no snow yet.
Pardon...we do ha powdery fluff up on the rim surrounding the valley floor. Looking up is "nothing but, beautiful!"
jealous!
ditto!
Please take your SUV out for a long ride. We need more CO2.
Question: If the earth's axis tilted a few degrees, wouldn't the North Star have moved? Hint: It hasn't moved.
Get your facts right.
So I should move my house 3" further south, north, east, or west to adjust for this? I want my micro seconds back.
if you live in a trailer, sure, go for it!
Lets see! hmmm "Global warming vs Global cooling" Which do we prefer! hmmmm
Global warming means not so much cold air, I like that!!!
Global cooling means an "ICE AGE" Naahh!
But is has been my observation that there are far more unintelligent, ignorant people on the right.
the world is full of unintelligent, ignorant people. Left, Right.. it doesn't matter...
It becomes very apparent when you read these comment boards.
I'm pretty much of the opinion that the human race deserves what it gets, whatever it is called this week.
Solution to global warming is only a vote away.
iceberg meet water, iceberg breaks up and melts.
Am I missing something?
They more than likely are shrinking from lack of precipitation. They will shrink in their short summer, but if precipitation is lacking throughout the rest of the year, they won't replenish. I can guarantee you, the northern glaciers are not melting right now.
The Glaciers have been retreating for millions of years, Long before man ever set foot on this planet, The Grand Canyon,Fiords to name a few things were created by the retreat of the glaciers, Some parts of the world that were covered by water are now deserts, plains and forests.
good! It's too damn cold here in Kentucky anyway!
I HATE global warming!
it's climate change.
Holly, having a bad day are we?
Holly,
You need to get your facts correct, look up the history of temperature change and there was a rapid change in temperature of about 7 Deg C I believe that happened thousands of years ago and as I recall the industrial revolution only happened over the past 100 or so years not 12,000 years ago. The Ice Age ended about 12,000 years ago, caused by a global warming of a temperature increase of around 7°C and major sea level changes.
http://www.daviesand.com/Choices/Precautionary_Planning/New_Data/
So please enlighten us to how much the temperature has changed over say the last 200 years?
kjho1
Where did you get your facts?
Just thought I ask!!
Best Regards!
kjho1: what you say doesnt change the fact that the weather patterns are disturbingly different over the last few decades. what Holly said about glaciers is true, and it doesn't even take a scientist to tell you: i can literally walk from my job in Alaska to a glacier that has diminished by a mile over the last 20 years. man-made? Who knows? is it happening?
Holly
"A new survey of over 500 peer reviewed scientific research papers on climate change, written between 2004 and 2007, has concluded that less than half endorse what has been dubbed the "consensus view," that human activity is contributing to considerable global climate change.
In direct conflict with assertions by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that a scientific consensus agrees it is 90% likely that man is responsible for warming, Medical researcher Dr. Klaus-Martin Schulte's survey contends that only 45% support the theory and that is only if you include papers that merely lean towards endorsement."
http://www.infowars.net/articles/august2007/300807Warming.htm
Holly for every point there is a counter point, as well as for every survey there is a counter survey, quess everyone just has to make up there own minds. Hope you didn't put up a real tree for xmas, we need all the trees or a fake one that the oil it comes from polutes the air
and also Fed-up with people who talk, just to talk..
Holly-2516910
Holly, it is people like you that can't see pass the end of their nose.. Your statement that 'big oil does not pay taxes'
Did you go to school? Can you do simple research before you make false statements that you in all likely hood heard from another incompetent ?
View this link if you insist on standing by your idiotic statement..
http://politics.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2009/02/11/exxon-big-oil-profits-evil-only-until-you-weigh-their-tax-bills.html
Yeah, that's what I thought.
....sure, holly...and how's that new prescription for medicinal marijuana working out for ya...
Convenient.....
http://www.science20.com/news_releases/greenland_ice_core_shows_ice_age_temperatures_rose_22_degrees_in_50_years
Nobody is "forcing" you to use fossil fuels....by all means, stop, lead by example, and quite being such a hypocrite.
only a totally indoctrinated complete blithering idiot would believe in "global warming".
I agree 100%
Right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did not know that Frankfurt became a state!!!
glaciers and ice packs are not shrinking just check it out
17 Oct 10 - "Antarctic sea ice reached its annual maximum in September.

Yeah ok rock-it-scientist.
Rocket science.
