Viewing Obama's trip from Asia I can see that it was 80% a big success. He signed deals to sell $10 billion of US industrial goods to India - thus keeping or creating around 50,000 jobs in the US - just to mention one thing. And the news coverage throughout Asia has been extremely positive about Obama and the US. This really pays off for us in many ways. Let those who know little about the outside world criticize the President - but they don't know what they are talking about.

Yes he did. Boeing got planes, Dow Chem got more relaxed regs. to create jobs there, and the mil. got weapons (halliburton). And in return, India got assurances that the US won't penalize companies for outsourcing jobs to India. A platform the Dems. ran on. And you can't back up the 50,000 jobs in the US. It is a number from the "cloud". Sounds more like political bribery to me.

So, 20 years from now, if our trade balance is still negative to the tune of 40B per month or more, and our economy is still in the tank, and we still don't manufacture anything, can we then tariff goods and penalize US companies for hiring non US, non taxpaying labor?

Hawaii I'm not gonna lie. The first paragraph of your post confuses me. When Obama was campaigning he reminded me of a kid playing grown up. He kept saying what he was going to do with no plans to back it up. People obviously bought into it and elected him to do what he said he was going to do. Now reality has set in and we see that he was all blow and no show.

I've always said that health insurance is a benefit of most jobs so getting people working would help solve a big part of the healthcare crisis. They could raise the income limit on Medicaid a little to help people that can't find a job anywhere but McDonalds. I don't have a problem with helping people who are trying to get by. But I think the career welfare people need to get off their a$$, find a job and quit having babies to up their check.

I can assure you that, although I do posess an TS/SCI Clearance, I am not qualified to be President. The electorate was fair, O was given a warning shot, called Scott Brown winning the Kennedy seat In Mass. He ignored it. O continues to embrace positions that are unacceptable to the majority, instead of addressing the current issues he forgot who put him in office, the voter. During the last election, he continued the blame game. We have the highest unemployment in our history, millions of foreclosures, millions of personal bankruptcies, hundreds of bank failures and multiple terrorist attacks within our borders since his election. After 2 years in office America has been given Healthcare and Queers in the military hardly the recipe for getting us back on track. O has not united us, he has polarized the whole country. In conclusion he might as well be a martian or illegal alien, he certainly has not demonstrated he represents mainstream America.

Actually, I don't know where folks get the label that Carter was the worst President in US history. There have been quite a few more @!$%#-ups that have come before him and certainly one after him. I can think of a few like: Martin Van Buren, really any President between 1842 (with the exception of Taylor who died in office)-James Buchanan in 1857, Andrew Johnson (who has my vote for #1), Coolidge, Hoover, Nixon anyone???? Yes, the 1 million jobs is net, after accounting for lost jobs. It's not hundreds of thousands a month though. I think October lost about 45,000 government jobs, while the private sector gained for the fifth straight quarter.

The reason the unemployment has not gone down is because people who had previously given up seeking work are reentering the workforce. Better than the 700,00 jobs lost a month before President Obama stepped in, though still very slow.

But you're right, young people thought one man could somehow wave his hands and fix the economy, the wars, the housing crisis, etc. (in under 2 years no less) I'm not sure why it's important the President run a for-profit business though. Studies show that nearly every private sector business person that became a politician, ended up being awful (Bloomberg being an exception). It's a completely different skillset. Wait and see how Rick Scott crashes and burns in Florida.

As long as unemployment is high, the man at the top will take most of the blame. Still, barring some sort of GOP miracle, Obama is pretty much a lock for reelection until 2016. 2012 is two years away and the GOP has nobody viable to run against the President.

Unions and union workers do not put a penny into infrastructure, yet they made demands like they were the owners. The owners gave them an answer, robotics are developed which do a better job then the old union workers who were concerned about there benefits, retirement, breaks, and how much more they could gouge out of there company, thoughts of keeping the company in profits and quality control were not considered. The gov put GM back on its feet, I always bought American cars only, and preached to foreign car buyers to do the same. No more, I will never buy another GM vehicle, When the news broke about GM and the union contracts demands were made public, I realized for the first time, these unions must be broken completely, they pose a threat to our economy and free enterprise system with there outrageous demands on business. Pretty clear when at a red light the public feels the same way, my Buick is the only GM vehicle at the red lights, the rest are Toyotas, Hyundai, BMW, Honda...

If you think the Repubs are going to create jobs here you are sadly mistaken. What happened when Bush was in office and had a Republican Congress for 6 of his 8 years? I didn't see my taxes go down, I didn't see gov't spending go down, I didn't see more jobs created here. I almost wish the Repubs would win in 2012 and take control, then the people will see they don't do anything but take more from the people, spend the same amount of money just for different things (read WAR and RICH). At least the Dems spend some of it on their own people. I think most Repubs would be happy to be in one of those 3rd world countries where they all would be above everyone else.
