This joker was analyzed to be "radical, angry and dangerous" with a lot of rage. And we plea- bargained with him? Isn't that a little like plea-bargaining with a rabid dog? I can't wait for his release in 9 years!!
I'm not bleeding heart people. Anybody who reads what I have researched about Islam knows that. But think about the precedent. If this guy should get a trial, prosecution and prison sentence, how on earth can we complain if our captured guys get treated as criminals and executed or worse?
He's a POW captured in war. It was a conventional battle that he was fighting with conventional weapons. Since when is it a war crime to be captured in a war? This guy definitely falls under the Geneva convention. So he's a Canadian? How does that matter?
War is like this. It's the ultimate shoot'em up game. When you capture the other side, they aren't obligated to like it. They can hate you all they want. Reasonable countries don't prosecute captured soldiers as criminals. For god's sake, the guy was fighting against our forces in a nation we invaded.
I think this guy is just a sacrificial lamb offered up to the public. It's ridiculous.

Excuse me? The USA invaded Afghanistan. He was part of an army that fought back against that. They didn't have uniforms, but that doesn't mean they weren't soldiers.

Maybe that will change their minds that this guy is not a "boy soldier" and "a victim" as claimed in an earlier MSNBC article (see link below). Further, this guy should not be allowed to go to Canada to "serve out his term" as recommended by the Secretary of the State when she intervened into this matter. She certainly is TRYING TO ACT LIKE the President.
Just think.....what IF Secretary Clinton was elected President......the Gitmo detainee area would be unlocked, the inmates given an escort through the minefields near the fence separating Gitmo~Cuba, through the Secruity gate at the Gitmo~Cuba security crossing, and allowed entry into Cuba. For what it is worth I agree with your view far more then anything Ellen posted. Your comment is logical and thought out, unlike Ellen's emtional charged but basically void of facts rant. She hasn't not bothered to research the Geneva Conventions, she's knows nothing of military, ROEs and combat. Clearly she is an armchair liberal commander who thinks the world is run by rainbow and butterlies. ..By the Geneva Conventions, that is exactly what it means...To be afforded the protections of the Conventions, you must be identifiable as a soldier in some manner...otherwise, you can be considered a spy, terrorist, etc. and shot....

You really and truly think if he had been released with honor, flowers placed at his feet and given medals that al qaida and the taliban would have had any kind of mercy with any captured U.N. allied trooper. Because another society believes that women should not be educated and treated as second class citizens does not mean that it is an extremist society. It wasn't until 1920 that women in the U.S. were elevated out of subservience by getting the right to vote. As far as people killing to reinforce their beliefs, aren't there groups of people in the U.S. that believe it is acceptable to kill to protect life (pro-life supporters)?

You are right. There are groups of people in the US that believe it is acceptable to kill for whatever reason. And you know what they are? Extremists. Radicals. Yes there are radicals in the US. Just because they are American does not mean they aren't a little crazy in the head. And for the most part, they are not readily accepted by mainstream society.
It is not "wrong" to deny women education, as it is an accepted aspect of their culture and society. But to kill women and children over this dispute? Yea I think we can categorize that as extreme. To blow it out of the water, would a community based around cannibalism be extreme? In modern day views, yes. Even if the practice is inherent and a normal part of a group's culture, doesn't necessarily make it "ok" on the global stage.

It's really a good thing we have these psychiatrists to let us know that Khadr was "full of rage." I don' think I could have ever guessed how such a young person who had spent 1/3 of his life in some military prison (that's located in Cuba for some reason) would feel.
It's also a really good thing that there aren't any enemy soldiers in Afghanistan, so the US soldiers never need to worry about killing one with a grenade. They might need to go to Cuba if they did something as bad as killing a soldier in war. There's just regular people there though, no soldiers, so there's no need to worry. Blow as many of them up as you want.

I was disgusted to read this one-sided, grossly misleading report on MSNBC. I expect better from this network. Of course this child is "full of rage", even if the source is a "government hired psychologist". He has been held without trial for 8 years! And to describe his actions as "Crimes" is nauseating. He was 15 years old, in a warrior culture, whose country was being invaded. His father trained him to fight, so he did. In more balanced reporting elsewhere, the "trial" is called out for what it is...a sham. And his confession of "guilt" was the only way to prevent him from being detained indefinitely. In the macho culture of too many American towns and families, where young men are not only encouraged to "fight" but rewarded for it, what would happen if their neighborhood were being invaded? Would we call it a "crime" if they fought their invaders? And how many of them will have weapons available? Many. Melody did you not read the part of him being a Canadien?He went to Afghanistan on his on behalf to "Kill Lots Of Americans for $1500 a pop".So how do you make your case of him defending his homeland?How many 15yr olds get prosecuted here in the states for killing or raping or beating someone up?Can they just say "Well my daddy made me do it cause he taught me"?Is it all just nurture in how we completly think?At what age do you have to be accountable?Here in the US it can and has been that age.You think the Afghanistans need us there to be killing themselves.They have been killing their own wy before we got there.I thought this is where all the Liberals said the war was supposed to be fought anyways because if you can still remember we werent there until when??Oh yea after they flew civilan planes into 2 towers where civilans where trying to live the American Dream.Unless US Soldiers were there before 9/11 and I just dont know about it.They brought the war to us and now we are taking it to them.All the while they wont wear a uniform that seperates them from civilans and use women and children for cover.
