I read and commented on this story yesterday. I am as outraged now that they killed his POODLE as I was then.

So very sad for this elderly man. He obviously loved this dog, and for the authorities to have it killed while he was in jail and helpless is just wrong!! What is wrong with this world????

If he loved his dog so much, why didn't he pay the fine instead of breaking the law once again to break it out? Two wrongs don't make a right.

However, he should have gotten a chance to clear his dues and appear in court before the authorities euthanized the mutt. That's not fair either.

 Putting the dog to sleep was cruel and unusual punishment for the elderly gentleman. Yes, he was wrong for not paying the pound fees, but putting the animal down was wrong on the part of the city. Elderly people become very attached to their companions to the point of thinking they are almost human. There are other ways that this could have been handled.

Outrageous! What a horrible thing to do. That poor man. What a completely inhumane thing to do.
