The comment does, however, highlight an interesting phenomenon of the divisive vitriol that our two party system has brought us. We've become almost paralyzed by hate. She didn't produce them by herself--her husband was the one who most likely refused to wear a condom and would have beaten her for using birth control. There are men who use pregnancy and children as a means to keep the woman under their control. I wonder how many other wives/girlfriends he has and if he treats them all as meanly.

There is no mention of drug use in this article, so why assume as much? You have to keep history in mind. If you think things are bad now, just look at the 1940's or the mid 1600's or, for a real eye-opener, the 14th century. Crimes against children, and also against adults, were much highet than they are now. We live in a child's Utopia compared to anytime before about 1950. That is not to say that these crimes should be discounted, but that we should not be wringing our hands and gnashing our teeth. Things have become so much better for our children now. Our fear comes only because we have are aware of the dangers that children have always faced.
