"The world is in need of an encompassing and, of course, just and humane order in the light of which the rights of all are preserved and peace and security are safeguarded."
"Ahmadinejad offered no clear alternative to capitalism but said, "The world is in need of an encompassing and, of course, just and humane order in the light of which the rights of all are preserved and peace and security are safeguarded.""
Wow! It's like deja vu all over again. For a second there I thought I was reading one of President Obama's recent campaign speeches.
Svenolafson how in the world can you make a statement like that when you know full well Bush put us in the mess. A $3 trillion war, the prescription boondoggle, etc, etc. Again, you have no knowledge of history outside of what FAUX, Rush, Glenn, Sean tell you. What a doofus.
Well, here we go again. Kevin thought that the only alternative to capitalism is theocracy and Svenolafson is unhappy with Obama while Mommy2BE is unhappy with the Republicans!
Please look around and find a couple of books written by Karen Armstrong to read (you have to be a non-typical American to do that). There are alternative economic systems to capitalism. Some people call one of them "Compassionate Capitalism" where you can do all you want and earn as much as you like without exploiting people or damaging the environment. Is this too difficult to understand? Do you have to have police to behave well? It is that simple. Capitalism is fine but without exploitation to humans or the environment.
Capitalism has worked just fine for me thank you. And I agree, Ahmadinejad does sound like our President. Obama's policies are championed by those that do not like us. Trickle up poverty is definitely part of the Democratic agenda. Before we go about experimenting with changes to a system that allowed the U.S.A. to become the most powerfull country in the world, we had better get our citizens back to work. We have a child President that seems to me is only interested in cementing his legacy by shoving unpopular programs down our throats before we can wake up. And The president of Iran just loves him to pieces. I voted for Obama and am a fool for doing so.
look at the little POS, he moved to a sports jacket from "members only" and he can't even smooth the collar, heaven forbid he get a tie and learn how to wear one. He REALLY cammands alot of respect.
Working Man- I eagerly googled Capitalism, A Love Story hoping I'd learn something. Low and behold, it was a Michael Moore film. Michael Moore is a flaming capitalist in a socialist's clothing. So much for learning anything from that clown. The fact that you point to a Michael Moore film for a history lesson shows me you don't have a clue.
No, Michael Moore is a socialist, who vastly enjoys living live in a capitalist America and living off of capitalism while putting it down ... only in America. It's sad there are enough blind sheep here in America to allow Moore to live VERY COMFORTABLY, and something tells me his charitable donations and taxes paid are not going to win any awards, truth be told.
The Democrats, Progressives and Obama now have a Economic Brother ! And progressives certainly share no love of Jews, and they have a soul-mate in the President of Iran.
LOL. Gotta love how 2 seconds into a discussion on this, people are already blaming Bush and Obama. To the people blaming Bush, NEWS FLASH!!!! HE IS NOT OUR PRESIDENT ANYMORE!!! get over him. You are more obsessed with him than the people who voted for him. To the people who blame Obama, he is no better or worse than Bush. Oh crud, I just cited Bush. Oh well. When in doubt, blame Bush. Bush is like the choice "C" on a test. All answers are always "C".
let`s stick to the issues and not get too personal about the pres of Iran.. who is after all .just a puppet of the ayatollahs..those demons who have brought in the worst regime since Adolph`s nazi revolution in 1933.. this one an Islamic terrorist state that wants to enslave the world with a sharia police state.. to bring in a " new world order".. in 30 years they have threatened to destroy a fellow U.N member ..no mistake about this. as millions of people outside of Iran understand Farsi perfectly..including many Israelis ..they have committed terrorists attacks on 6 continents and now they are leaving their Korans to talk about capitalism ....but let's`forget about Ahmeds jacket.. his sex life. or whatever ..the real meetings at the U.N are behind the scenes.. and it is here the the final plans to attack and bring down the Islamic terrorist regime are being discussed ... and you won`t read it on MSNBC..
F**K Ahmamembersonlyjacket!!! When Iran releases the two U.S. (idiots but Americans nonetheless) hikers, abandons their nuclear quests, releases the woman they can't remember sentencing to death by stoning, has real elections again and acknowledges Israel's right to exist he might have some leg to stand on, but until then he stands as an example of the type of d*p$h*t dictator that the far left love, mainly because he lashes out against the U.S. and Israel !! He is like a bratty child that should be seen and not heard.

Yes, there is a compassionate, efficient alternative to free-market (corporate dictatorship) capitalism -- it is simply called "democracy". That's the reason why Teabaggers aren't anti-government, they're just anti-democratic government. They have no qualms with plutocratic monopoly capitalist government. They have no problems with Taliban-style Christian theocracy, they don't throw fits over authoritarian dictatorship, so long as the authoritarian dictator gets their stamp of approval. So, to my middle-of-the-road liberal friends, I say, "get up off your arses, and protect democracy -- THAT is what they want to overthrow, not a black man in the White House.
Abardenjad is in OUR country when he says these things, why.
Ignorance should not be allowed in these threads. The UN is an international charter and, although it is in New York, it is not "ours". Also, you sound socialist since you personally do not own the property, but claim collective ownership. The man is speaking and expressing himself. Let him, and disagree if you like. We have embassies in other countries, and we consider those embassies to be American State Department territory, as do other countries with embassies here.
full on capitalism is no better than full on communism. Many suffer. The European version of capitalism that has lower debt rates, lower unemployment rates and living wages for citizens is vastly superior to the US product.
There are several problems with believing that a capitalist system is the best system. While it is more adapted to a free-market economy, there is no reason that another system could not do some good. If capitalism has been standing so long as we have been in multiple economic recessions and our national debt exceeds the amount of money held by the wealthiest people on Earth, I say don't stay the course. That does not necessarily mean that I find capitalism to be a broken system, but if a proven treatment does not work in one case, find a new one for that case. Change may be frightening at times, but turning the wheel is better than staying the course into a ravine.
I came into this newsvine expecting a hailstorm of comments. I have never been the first comment. Even on the most obscure and seemingly uninteresting articles, I always come in when the discussion is in full swing. Apparently this article is garnering as much interest as his speech. I wonder if he was annoyed.
Sounds like a lot of people posting here today are non-thinkers that believe everything their college professor tells them about how bad Capitalism is. Here is a song for all of you...
"Holiday In Cambodia"
So you been to school For a year or two And you know you've seen it all In daddy's car Thinkin' you'll go far Back east your type don't crawl

And it's a holiday in Cambodia Where you'll do what you're told A holiday in Cambodia Where the slums got so much soul
Yes... but the corporations, and the super-mega-global-corporations have eliminated most of that competition... the game has changed... in some ways it has been rigged, as the banking system clearly demonstrated recently...
Maybe Capitalism was/is the better option we've had... but maybe here and now, in the 21st century, a new system may emerge that is better suited to our overcrowded, technologically connected planet... not capitalism, not socialism, not communism... something new, or maybe a different take on something old...
I don't know the answer.... but I do know that what we have now is only barely working, and only working for some... and we as a country are not in very good financial shape, and we haven't been since 2000... we need to be open to options... we need to be open to progress.
Are you kidding, V...? Competition is alive and well....worldwide! That is why China, India, and others are booming. They are currently ahead of us in the competition because our overblown salaries and benefit packages prevent us from offering competitive prices for our products. We can recover by lowering out production costs, or we can develop desirable new technologies and products that our competition doesn't possess. The old ways of operating are certainly gone, but competition is here to stay.
I drove down my street today. I live in a lower middle class neighborhood next to a public housing area. Virtually every home had a car out front yard, many had 2 or 3, even in the public housing area. Saw several obese people outside of their home so, apparently, food isn't a problem. Unemployment is up but nowhere near the levels in undeveloped countries. Our unemployment right now is about where France's was before the financial crisis.
You're right, you don't know the answer but you people don't even know what the problem is. Americans need to get out more and see how the rest of the world lives. 90% of the people in this world would love to have our poor's problems. Next whiney complaint.....
"Are you kidding, V...? Competition is alive and well....worldwide! That is why China, India, and others are booming. They are currently ahead of us in the competition because our overblown salaries and benefit packages prevent us from offering competitive prices for our products. "
Your little rant above defines competition. You might need to look at a dictionary. Last i checked competition did not guarantee equality, that is communism. Back to economics 101
Tarzan, perhaps if you had something of value to offer you wouldn't be so bitter about capitalism. I'm guessing you flip burgers or work at a gas station and feel entitled to make as much as someone with a meaninful career.
Are you kidding, V...? Competition is alive and well....worldwide! That is why China, India, and others are booming. They are currently ahead of us
Yes.... Their corporations are ahead of our corporations....what does that mean to the more than 10% unemployed, and laid off, mostly due to the bankers having a little too much fun with their gambling habits?
You look at how their CEO's are doing against our CEO's... I'm talking about everyday people and small businesses, etc... It's next to impossible to open up your business now, because you have to compete with Best Buys, and Walmarts...
You're right, you don't know the answer but you people don't even know what the problem is.
People like me? Which sterotypical label is your arrogance looking to put on me exactly?
Americans need to get out more and see how the rest of the world lives. 90% of the people in this world would love to have our poor's problems. Next whiney complaint.....
IF you had exercised a little more reading comprehension, and a little less knee-jerk reaction you would have noticed that I said... "Maybe Capitalism was/is the better option we've had"... I was not saying any country has it going better for them because of a different system... I said capitalism was probably the best we've had SO FAR....
I WAS saying, be OPEN to the possibility of something new and better... But I can see that being open to something new makes you feel vulnerable and scared... so nevermind.
some of you are absolutely rediculous...the system works just fine...for those who WORK for what they get and not expect a hand-out. Thats the problem, too many people wanting something for nothing. Everyone needs a job and needs to work, and if you suck, you get fired, too bad.
I got divorced 12 years ago and lost just about everything, credit wrecked, I had a pick-up truck and my clothes, BUT...I've worked hard as I always have, as I was taught to. I make myself valuable to my employers, I get raises, promotions and now I'm just fine again. Truck is long since paid for, I have a decent job, home in a decent area...I WORKED FOR IT, and I don't need alot of whinny socialist "redistributing" anything I've worked so hard for..."system isn't fair",BS!!! life isn't fair but it is what you make of it, not what someone else makes it for you.
Our current system is flawed from years of our corrupt politicians meddling with it and it needs a little work. Unregulated capitalism doesn't work because of human greed. That said capitalism is still the best economic system man has yet devised and far better than anything a little $h*t like Ahmadeadoodyinmahpants has to offer !!!
What is the ultimate goal of every "capitalist" corporation? Monopoly, of course. Now explain again, right-wing libertarian friends, how THAT benefits society. Ohhhhh, wait, I forgot, the only real good is individual enrichment, so kick your neighbor into the gutter and take his riches. THAT is the ultimate goal of right-wing libertarian free market capitalism.
The European models of capitalism is far superior to the US version. Employees make living wages and get 5-8 weeks paid vacations. American companies like Microsoft open plants in France because they have a well-educated and healthy work force. Why? Free university and health care. 80% of the wealth in our country is with 1% of the population- and getting worse.
Unfortunately this madman may finally be right. It will have died because politicians who govern never ran their own business or balanced a checkbook. The entitlement programs of the liberals have destroyed some people's desire to educate themselves or do a hard day's work when a hand out is so much simpler. Look no farther than Vietnamese who have prospered in this country once given the chance. Look no farther back than 100 years ago to the immigrants who mad this country great after arriving here with so little. Thank God there the progressives then were less powerful or this country would be non existent today as a world power. However, that won't last much longer.
You are so right about the entitlement programs that is overused by those who shout the loudest about welfare but have no trouble fighting for Social Security and Medicare,
Do you really want business men/women to truly run the country...the same people who are laying off thousands and bringing home 10-20 milliion per year in pay and bonuses; the same people who refuse to hire the fellow Americans but ship jobs overseas so their bonuses are ensured?
I would be happy to quit complaining about Social Secuirty & Medicare - just refund me all that I have paid in the last 35 years, and only pay me 1% interest. I will even let you keep the 1.45% for medicare that my employer paid in.
The problem, as I see it anyway, is not the entitlement programs. It's that they don't work. Billions of dollars are spent in fraud. Billions of dollars are spent in keeping the poor in their place - poor. Welfare programs don't help people "get back to work" they keep people unemployed. If you start to climb up the ladder your funds get cut off, so most people say "it doesn't pay to work" and it doesn't, so they don't.
I too would just like my 'contribution' to social security refunded. As well as National Term limits, and the revocation of all pensions for politicians. How is that for a simple campaign platform?
This from a little man who shops for his dinner jackets in a stall. Dude at least with capitalism you could get in on the "blue light special" at k-mart.
Mahmoud Imanutjob bores the world again. Please, would someone keep that beady eyed munchkin out of the UN, there is more important things to discuss than his impotence.
Tarzan7, you apparently have no clue regarding what capitalism is really about. However it is true that the "free markets" that are part of the fundamental strength of capitalism are being manipulated by the greedy. This cycle of greed is what has corrupted capitalism and has made government regulation and collective bargaining necessary. This cycle of greed will soon become much weaker, but capitalism is here to stay. As for Ahmadinejad, he is just part of the group of lunatic criminal thugs that currently (and temporarily) rule Iran through tyranny. His comments cannot be taken seriously.
the regulations are already in place,if they had been enforced the economic crisis would have been avoided.but just like immigration, the law is ignored, the recent egg conamination, the law was not enforced.bp oil, again the law was not enforced.but as usual another law will be made only to be ignored.
I agree with u completely and the reason why these laws are ignored is greed/lobbying. The main point being is that u can not extract the greed from capitalism if u don't believe me research history!
He's lost any credibility he may have had and is out in left field if he thinks capitalism is on its way out. Even Castro recently acknowledged the need for more free trade. Its what drives the world economy. For those of you who look only to the "liberals" in this country, perhaps you might want to take a class on international trade. Namdoc23, if only we had the power you suggest we have.
the Swiss seem to be doing just fine without capitalism. studies say year after year that they live the best lifestyles in the dutch countries. (For the majority not the rich)
Scott that would be fine except the Swiss are the MOST capitalist country in Europe. With NO socialist medicine, an isolationist and selective immigration and foreign policy. Not a good example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switzerland
Not only this, but they have DIRECT democracy, so no PC laws to entitle immigrants with certain ideologies and aims of enforcing foreign backward religious persecution, yet religious freedom is observed. Hmm, only in a country with "official churches" do you have a prospering utopia like Switzerland.
Isolationsim is a dirty word to idiotic people who follow media from the left or right. If America followed Switzerlands example, withdrew from the UN, withdrew from Geneva, shut the borders and closed all it's bases. Shut its trade down, immigration down to only countries that benefit us by matching in economic and ideological viewpoints, we could be a great country again. But let the morons of the 2 party farce in America hang on to their views, despite George Washingtons advice on foreign wars and "factions" or political parties.
This country has lead in its water, air, and food. Drill baby drill, and fire up the coal powered power plants you morons.....Adminejad is an idiot, true. Capitalism IS the solution, but for America so is currency control measures, and policies of self sustainability without oil and coal. Wake up America, a true independent centrist is the way to go. No a nutcase far lefty or righty.....
I would add that Switzerland REQUIRES EVERY male from 18-50yrs old to be in the military, own and operate a automatic weapon, and has enough hidden bunkers to supply the entire population with food, water, and shelter for 2 years. They have the best train system in the world, they are leaders in education and science, and DO NOT belong to the EU. I would know because I've been there at least 4 times, and wish OH WISH I could immigrate.
Scott - the Swiss ain't Dutch. They're Swiss. The Dutch live in the Netherlands. You want the Swiss government telling you how to live your life, go to Switzerland. The mountains are beautiful.
Ha Scott I agree with you- Canada in a heartbeat, or France...most of these yokels have barely been out their own state and don't realize what a propaganda machine we have been listening to for years. Pay just about as much in taxes as now but get clean beautiful cities, 5 weeks paid vacation, earlier retirement, sound, regulated banks, a higher salary, free healthcare and education...erm: sign me up.
It would be so nice if someone put a bullet in this guys head. Bring back targeted assassinations and make this guy the first target, Hugo the second target, and go from there. The world would be a much better place.
Because he is a head of state, he can come here and have diplomatic immunity, BUT why can't an accident befall his plane on the way home? Where is the CIA?
Here is where the beauty of capitalisim comes in. You shoot more dictators, the demand for bullets goes up, the bullet manufacturers start hiring, pretty soon we are out of the recession!
One intelligent sentence. Followed by one nutball sentence. Threats of war crimes against Iran only legitimize their "need" for a nuclear arsenal. Or, for that matter -- against the U.S.
Ahmadinejad needs to ask Cuba and the former Soviet Union how that economic thought process worked out for them. If the United States would stop fighting 100 billion dollars wars and giving away the same amount to dozens of country's each year we would be in great shape.
Let the terrorists, socialists and communists kill each other and protect our borders. Take care of the home front and we can defend against any nutjob such as this Iranian so called leader..............
. If the United States would stop fighting 100 billion dollars wars and giving away the same amount to dozens of country's each year we would be in great shape.
100 billion dollar wars?????
Man.... I hate to burst your bubble, but IRAQ ALONE is gonna cost THREE TRILLION, all told....
The true cost of the Iraq war: $3 trillion and beyond
By Joseph E. Stiglitz and Linda J. Bilmes
Sunday, September 5, 2010
Writing in these pages in early 2008, we put the total cost to the United States of the Iraq war at $3 trillion. This price tag dwarfed previous estimates, including the Bush administration's 2003 projections of a $50 billion to $60 billion war.
But today, as the United States ends combat in Iraq, it appears that our $3 trillion estimate (which accounted for both government expenses and the war's broader impact on the U.S. economy) was, if anything, too low. For example, the cost of diagnosing, treating and compensating disabled veterans has proved higher than we expected.
Moreover, two years on, it has become clear to us that our estimate did not capture what may have been the conflict's most sobering expenses: those in the category of "might have beens," or what economists call opportunity costs. For instance, many have wondered aloud whether, absent the Iraq invasion, we would still be stuck in Afghanistan. And this is not the only "what if" worth contemplating. We might also ask: If not for the war in Iraq, would oil prices have risen so rapidly? Would the federal debt be so high? Would the economic crisis have been so severe?
The answer to all four of these questions is probably no. The central lesson of economics is that resources -- including both money and attention -- are scarce. What was devoted to one theater, Iraq, was not available elsewhere.
Let the terrorists, socialists and communists kill each other and protect our borders. Take care of the home front and we can defend against any nutjob such as this Iranian so called leader..............
Ironically, the reason we CAN'T do that is because of the thing you opened your comment defending.... Capitalism... The economy, has become the GLOBAL economy... an intertwined web of networks, and interdependant groups, that barely recognize borders... The corporations are the supreme powers, not the governments...
"If the United States would stop fighting 100 billion dollars wars and giving away the same amount to dozens of country's each year we would be in great shape.
Bill, I agree with you about the useless wars, but if you think our foreign aid budget is within an order of magnitude of our defense budget, you're way off. Most Americans grossly overestimate our foreign aid -- it's less than 1% of our budget. Furthermore, NOT giving aid to places in need like Pakistan provides the perfect opening for nutcases like Ahmadinejad to expand their influence in the region. Invasions aren't the answer, but we can't afford to draw back in our shells and become isolationists. The last time we did that, we got WWII.
US foreign aid is $26 billion out of a multi-trillion-dollar budget. We really do not send an awful lot of money overseas, and most of it is in the form of weapons purchases for our military allies, like Israel.
Sorry my my guesstimates were off to all you bean counters. I think you got the point. 26 Billion is an awful lot when you have people who worked all their lives now homeless. I guess rockets for terrorists are more important...........................
Well Bill.... the difference between 26 Billion (or even 100 Billion).... and 3 TRILLION is an awful lot of beans....
If you think the 26 Billion would have helped "those people who worked all their lives and are now homeless"... what do you think the other 2.9 Trillion (3 Trillion - 100 Billion) would have done for them...?
That 26 Billion you want back, is something like 2% of the cost of the COMPLETELY UNECESSARY Iraq war... Not to mention the cost of the thousands of brave servicemen and women we lost there...
But I'm beating a dead horse here... I know you already said you think we should stop fighting those kinds of wars, I just wanted you to appreciate the ACTUAL cost, not the 100 Billion you thought it was.
"V" ..... was a stupid movie that glorifies terrorism and the Quran, so umm how should I take you?
My user name is not based on any movie or television show... So maybe you should not jump to conclusions...
As for capitalism REQUIRING open borders, and world trade? How so? See my post on Switzerland....
If you want me to read your post, you should provide a link to it... common courtesy... I'm not going to go digging around looking for it.
Capitalism IN THEORY does not require open borders, and world trade... HOWEVER, our current US economy, like most other major countries, is completely enmeshed in global trade... to disentangle that now at this stage in the game would be either impossible, or an economic catastrophe.... take your pick.
Well V, I am a practical person not a bean counter. I would rather spend $10 here in the United States on the people who work than give it away to some meaningless offering to another country. The dollar amount is not the issue, think conceptually........................
I think in the small picture we would ALL rather keep our money here in our own country.
But realistically, there is a multiplayer chess game going on betweent nations right now, and the US uses cash to influence certain nations to make moves we WANT them to, or more to the point to NOT make moves we DON'T want them to make... This is ALSO a byproduct of capitalism... the one who acquires the most money, has the power to buy people off, and push others around.
Conceptual thinking, as nice as it is, doesn't change the facts in the real world...
If you have had an experience with evil minded person then you can undrestand him better! I would not trust a word he says. He uses the words that some may like to hear in order to divide people. He undrestand that there are lots of people out of work or the economy is not that great so he tries to gather more sympathizers. HE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED PERIOD!
So is Democracy because not even the Iranian President has to say that security protects freedom, war is moral so long as it bends us towards peace, and our interests always reinforce our principals, and the biggest demigod on the 21st century wears a noble peace prize.
What is the Persian word for physiological control and the event. He needs to adopt the same domestic intelligence infrastructure we have. It is on three legs.
First closed source-
When ever you need to dispose of someone that is a threat to your absolute security ideology, you let their free speech serve as the basis for putting a paramilitary operation under their feet using a no reality investigative manual that the FBI calls hypothetical potential. You fuse the most perverted program man kind has ever developed into the ordinary lives of every one around your target and use perfect coordination and completely baseless investigative pretences to make every process critical to them volatile. Don't forget to attach each one to grave and dire so it never sees the light of day in any court. Then their right of free speech becomes the basis for them to discreet themselves as the paramilitary operation and extrajudicial killing under their feet is unknown to them.
Open Source-
The garbage at the CIA record every single communication that goes across any air wave or over any wire so any hint of these closed source extrajudicial killings is quickly referred back to close source. The NSA already has an achieve of every single communication to and from every single US citizen and that is shot down range so the FBI can set up another closed source investigation of absolute command and control.
General Source-
This is where I recommend you start Ahman. You need to set the parameters of your society's personality so extrajudicial killings sound silly as you make absolute safety from the thing least likely to happen to you an emotional lideology. Imagine this. Every time you have a critic, they are quickly called pussy galore (like the speaker of the house) and shut up. The best way to do this is to create a media and PR foundation that make your third world intelligence trash (that do all their dirty work with their own hand instead of farming it out to civilians) sound so fantastic and far out that no one would want to align themselves with such an assumption regardless of how close it is to the truth.
This will take some time dictator but you will start to develop a proper democracy and your hands become cleaner and cleaner as your society becomes dirtier and dirtier. In the mean time, have your intelligence trash fish the local mental institutions and have some of them plant bombs in garbage cans so you can justify your emergency powers as you mold your 21st century democracy.
Once the most important argument becomes health care, and how evil it is, you will be on par with this sinking super power.
Someone should kick that jerk's ass and tell him that Capialism is what happens when people are free to buy and sell whatever and where ever they want.
A stupid stupid person with power is a dangerous thing.
I also agree 100% with the president of Iran. Monopoly and predatory capitalism are the diggers of their own graves. It's time to press the reset buttom and to flush the corruption down the toilet. The cause of the financial and economic crisis was caused by the following. 1-Debt Based Money System. 2-Debt Fianance. 3-Deregulation of the Banks. 4-Toxic Currency. 5-Toxic Derivatives. When you have a system based on fraud, it eventually collapses. The middle class is shrinking. The middle class is not asking for a redistribution of wealth; they are asking for a more equitable distribution of wealth where the scales of economic justice are more evenly balanced. Excess parasitic profits and usury interest rates must be erradicated from the face of the earth. Capitalism was born out of the depths of feudalism, evolving into corporate feudalism, which is ruled by an oligarchy. Less than 1% of the population own and control all the wealth. There is a widening wealth disparity. And soon the middle class will be falling right through the gap. The corporate elite are going to run the middle class through the washing machine ringer with hyper-inflation, and than they are going to pull the plug on the sink drain. The elite bankers have abscounded with the national treasuries and usurped the peoples wealth. All our wealth has been mortgaged to the bankers.
And the Iranians and Afgans who live in mud huts and dirt floors are living the high life?? The protesters who marched against the election fraud now are missing or dead.
I'll take capitalism and democracy even when times are rough now............................

"All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach." Adolph Hitler
"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five." -Groucho Marx
Your theory doesn't stand. It's bogus. It doesn't hold water. etc.
While I really disliked James M Nunes opening his comment stating he is in agreement with this dangerous little man... an unecesary connection to the idea, and a tainting of the issue.
At the same time, would you care to explain WHY his theory doesn't stand?
Usually, people who are against capitalism are unwilling to admit that they themselves are currently unable to compete, so what they do instead is seek out someone or something to blame for their inability to measure up with their peers. They conclude that the only ways people become wealthy is not by hard work and innovation, but instead by getting lucky, cheating others, or taking advantage of others. In some odd way, because of that belief, they feel it is their right to forcefully take from those who have earned money and redistribute it to those who were unable to earn it for themselves.
I don't fit that description.... My wife and I are both hardworking individuals... and always look to help others, not cheat them... We would ALWAYS opt to earn rather than be given...
I'm not against capitalism as a rule... I'm just OPEN to the POSSIBILITY that something better may come along... it's just progress, evolution... before capitalism came along, I'm sure people were clinging to whatever system they had then, and calling capitalism evil or whatever...
He is a diplomat and head of state. But.......why can't we test fire one of those million dollar cruise missiles on his plane on the way home? It could be an accident........
No George we don't. The fall of the Roman Empire was your fault. The Great Depression was your fault. World Wars I & II were your fault as was Korea and Vietnam. The Iranian hostage crisis was your fault as was the gas crisis of the 70's. The stain on Monica's blue dress was your fault. Ahhhh wait a minute, that was Clinton's fault. According to what I have been told, EVERYTHING is your fault. So no we don't miss you.
Capitalism interferes with being a dictator. That is his motivation. This psychotic gnome is merely a pimple on the world's ass. He isn't credible, so who listens? Besides that, he's short. He's saddam husain's "little me".
I dunno - I went to a public high school, got an associates degree, and started my own business that is somewhat successful. From where I am sitting, anybody can do it. That, my friend is capitalism at its finest.
Denny-boy, you're obviously an idiot, if capitalism failed along time ago then please give us an example of a system that has worked better and explain why we here in the Capitalist U.S. have an insanely higher average standard of living then the rest of the world(including you idiot) stop watching Michael Moore movies and do some real research you fake delusional idiot.
In this runt we have a dictatorial, Jew-hating, squinty eyed, severely insane, vertically challenged, ego-ridden twerp who insists that he will make his second-rate country a world power.
Question of the day: What historical figure does this replicates? And what was the outcome?
Think he’ll get the flick…nah. So, let’s lay waste to his tyrannical dreams BEFORE it cost the world several million victims!
Tango, It seems anyone who expose the baby killing action of zionist Israel is consider Jew hater. Do you really have anything of value to support your claim. Zionist Israel is the root of all evils in the world and you are helping out.
You make some interesting points, some I agree with, and some I don't. Since you seem to have all the answers, let me ask you this: What is the best system? Don't forget nothing is perfect, and until something comes along that is better I'll stick with this.
I think the system will work if checks and balances are in place. Plain and simple people are greedy by nature.
This is what I mean by misleading report by the USA media. Just check the head line on this report and below is what exactly he said.
"
Ahmadinejad said world leaders, thinkers and global reformers should "spare no effort" to make practical plans for a new world order that would reform international economic and political institutions.
To spotlight the importance of this effort and the need for all countries to participate, Ahmadinejad proposed that the United Nations name the coming 10 years "the decade for the joint global governance."
In his brief speech, intertwining philosophy and religion with the current state of the world, Ahmadinejad declared: "The undemocratic and unjust governance structures of the decision-making bodies in international economic and political fields are the reasons behind most of the plights today humanity is confronting."
"It is my firm belief that in the new millennium, we need to revert to the divine mindset ... based on the justice-seeking nature of mankind, and on the monotheistic world view...," the Iranian leader said. "Now that the discriminatory order of capitalism and the hegemonic approaches are facing defeat and are getting close to their end, all-out participation in upholding justice and prosperous interrelations is essential."
His point is that Ahmenijad did offer an alternative to capitalism: A system "based on the justice-seeking nature of mankind, and on the monotheistic world view". In other words, Islamic Theocracy.
You know, I pray for everyone, everyday.....Your mind is so infested with what could destroy the world. Do yourself a favor and seek out the truth......Not the truth you think right now, but the real truth, before it's too late. Allah may mean God to you, but your intereptation of God is death to all that don't convert to your ideology. This Great Man that you speak of will destroy millions of human lives......Do some REAL research.
Stevo , There is no God , never was a God and never will be a God. These Gods you referring to are Just Tools of evil doers including yours. The God you talking about is one Sob cruel and murders God. I don't wanna be part that at all.
Dude I heard about that new world order thing, its in that dope movie I watched online while I was high the other day called Zeitgeist. It was rad man!............
"It is my firm belief that in the new millennium, we need to revert to the divine mindset ... based on the justice-seeking nature of mankind, and on the monotheistic world view
As long as that view is exactly what he wants and agrees with otherwise is a western conspiracy to rule the world. Does anyone really think this guy supports anything that is not exactly in line with his ideals? Come on now. Divine mindset is the mindset based on the divine being he follows, no one else's.
Unless you're Israel, America, or a woman.
I'd say it's Theocracy that is on death's door...
I was thinking he sounded more like the Republicans....they are unafraid of citing what is wrong but have no solution.
The pigs (pork) should be worried...
no your wrong mommy2be- I remember it was Obama!!
Abardenjad is in OUR country when he says these things, why.
I voted for Obama and am a fool for doing so.
capitalism was a good thing , watch capitalism a love story to see were it all went wrong
... And this week marks the 7th missed easy opportunity for the CIA to arrange an "accident"
and gay
Well, if Ahmadinejad says it, it must be true. The lib media give Ahmadinejad more press time and credibility then they do prominent conservaties.
Like Islam? I don't think so.
look at the little POS, he moved to a sports jacket from "members only" and he can't even smooth the collar, heaven forbid he get a tie and learn how to wear one.
Stoning people for infractions to his dictatorship are the NEW humane way, eh?
Please look around and find a couple of books written by Karen Armstrong to read (you have to be a non-typical American to do that). There are alternative economic systems to capitalism. Some people call one of them "Compassionate Capitalism" where you can do all you want and earn as much as you like without exploiting people or damaging the environment. Is this too difficult to understand? Do you have to have police to behave well? It is that simple. Capitalism is fine but without exploitation to humans or the environment.
We want to rid ourselves of the neo-Marxist in the White House.
Why do you always stick Isreal To America?
Our world has surely more important problems than Isreal.
There are billions of people all around the world who certainly need more attention than Isreal.
And to achieve global happiness we need to help each other not to concentrate on an unwilling fenumena.
roketboy
So here's your opportunity to write something profound and this is what you post?
What? I don't get it. What's it to you what I write here? What is your point in attacking me for how I use my space in an internet discussion forum?
I have read your other commernt and it seems to me you're just another case of internet anonymity creating a jackass.
Sounds like a lot of people posting here today are non-thinkers that believe everything their college professor tells them about how bad Capitalism is. Here is a song for all of you...
"Holiday In Cambodia"
So you been to school
For a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car
Thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl
Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin' that you know
How the n*****s feel cold
And the slums got so much soul
It's time to taste what you most fear
Right Guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear:
It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough, kid, but it's life
It's a holiday in Cambodia
Don't forget to pack a wife
You're a star-belly sneech
You suck like a leach
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you bitch
So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you
Well you'll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son:.
Is a holiday in Cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll kiss ass or crack
Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, [etc]
And it's a holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll do what you're told
A holiday in Cambodia
Where the slums got so much soul
Kill the poor is more like it.
I think he is right. Capitilism is just another word for Greed. Screw the working class with low wages and high prices.
Capitalism is just another word for Freedom to barter on price. It is competition for the sale that keep the price a low as possible.
Yes... but the corporations, and the super-mega-global-corporations have eliminated most of that competition... the game has changed... in some ways it has been rigged, as the banking system clearly demonstrated recently...
People like me? Which sterotypical label is your arrogance looking to put on me exactly?
THAT is the ultimate goal of right-wing libertarian free market capitalism.
libertairians are not right wing and you know nothing about capitalism
Last time I checked, Social Security is my money - - - taken from me without my permission.
I'm with you smallbusiness,
Give me MY money and I'll invest it as I see fit
"This cycle of greed is will soon become much weaker"
Sounds like a vague naive hope from someone who only wants to see the world as candy coated.
This cycle of greed started even before I was born, capitalism promotes it. It is 2 sides of the same coin.
the regulations are already in place,if they had been enforced the economic crisis would have been avoided.but just like immigration, the law is ignored, the recent egg conamination, the law was not enforced.bp oil, again the law was not enforced.but as usual another law will be made only to be ignored.
WAKE UP.
it's emigrate
Scott - the Swiss ain't Dutch. They're Swiss. The Dutch live in the Netherlands. You want the Swiss government telling you how to live your life, go to Switzerland. The mountains are beautiful.
I would go to Switzerland if i could could but becoming a citizen in another country is not exactly easy otherwise i would already be living there!
Excellent idea, EXCEPT, we would probably end up with someone worse to deal with!
Because he is a head of state, he can come here and have diplomatic immunity, BUT why can't an accident befall his plane on the way home? Where is the CIA?
Hey bob5
Here is where the beauty of capitalisim comes in. You shoot more dictators, the demand for bullets goes up, the bullet manufacturers start hiring, pretty soon we are out of the recession!
He should keep his divine mindset to himself, Damed Soul!
ahmandinejad is an illegal spy, arrest him
lol.
Since he a person of such importance - we should ask for 1.5 million ransom, oops I mean bail.
Any country that still stones people to death can not say they are the future. If so we need to Nuke em into the past.
100 billion dollar wars?????
Man.... I hate to burst your bubble, but IRAQ ALONE is gonna cost THREE TRILLION, all told....
Regarding your next comment...
Ironically, the reason we CAN'T do that is because of the thing you opened your comment defending.... Capitalism... The economy, has become the GLOBAL economy... an intertwined web of networks, and interdependant groups, that barely recognize borders... The corporations are the supreme powers, not the governments...
Bill Dunedin Florida
As for capitalism REQUIRING open borders, and world trade? How so? See my post on Switzerland....
My user name is not based on any movie or television show... So maybe you should not jump to conclusions...
Ahmadinejad,
Nobody is listening to you anymore.Â
YEh, an br1ng back the X-files - CAUSE THAT WAS REAL, TOO !!!
Someone should kick that jerk's ass and tell him that Capialism is what happens when people are free to buy and sell whatever and where ever they want.
A stupid stupid person with power is a dangerous thing.
Especially when we elect them!
Bob, if we elect stupid people, then aren't we really the stupid ones?
ala Harlem voters and Charlie Rangel?
Your theory doesn't stand. It's bogus. It doesn't hold water. etc.
And the Iranians and Afgans who live in mud huts and dirt floors are living the high life?? The protesters who marched against the election fraud now are missing or dead.
I'll take capitalism and democracy even when times are rough now............................

"A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five." -Groucho Marx
While I really disliked James M Nunes opening his comment stating he is in agreement with this dangerous little man... an unecesary connection to the idea, and a tainting of the issue.
At the same time, would you care to explain WHY his theory doesn't stand?
James M, would you advise at what point do profits become excessive and parasitic? Is it at 4 %, 5 %, 10 %, 20 % or more?
Thank you.
John-2338037
I don't fit that description.... My wife and I are both hardworking individuals... and always look to help others, not cheat them... We would ALWAYS opt to earn rather than be given...
I'm not against capitalism as a rule... I'm just OPEN to the POSSIBILITY that something better may come along... it's just progress, evolution... before capitalism came along, I'm sure people were clinging to whatever system they had then, and calling capitalism evil or whatever...
Why doesnt someone just shoot this stupid piece of $hit when he is over here?
It's illegal.
That is for the courts to decide. Shoot first, ask questions later.
Always easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
He is a diplomat and head of state. But.......why can't we test fire one of those million dollar cruise missiles on his plane on the way home? It could be an accident........
"Miss me yet?" - George W. Bush
GWB belongs on the end of a hangman's rope, until his body literally rots off the rope, right alongside herr cheney's private rope.
Entendre, I am completely aghast at your obvious oversight. How in the world could you omit Katrina or 9/11 from your list of Bush's original sins?
You should be ashamed of yourself and throw yourself down at the feet of President Obama and beg for forgiveness.
Sorry James I can only beat a dead horse for so long...my apologies for not posting a more comprehensive and complete list. Mea Culpa
Capitalism interferes with being a dictator. That is his motivation. This psychotic gnome is merely a pimple on the world's ass. He isn't credible, so who listens? Besides that, he's short. He's saddam husain's "little me".
Capitalism promotes Plutocracy, plain and simple. For the multitudes, Capitalism failed a VERY long time ago.
OK...so let’s see.
Your anti-semitism is showing. You sound just like Hitler.
And just for ha-has, if there were no Jews, then who would you blame the world's ills on?
"
What's your point?
Tango..
I was just trying expose the zionist infested Media in USA. American people never hear the fact about this Great man.
If you like this clown so much, why don't you go back to Iran with him.
Get out of kitchen it is to hot for you. He is not a clown, you are just misinformed. Ignorance is not a blessing in this case
Dude I heard about that new world order thing, its in that dope movie I watched online while I was high the other day called Zeitgeist. It was rad man!............
As long as that view is exactly what he wants and agrees with otherwise is a western conspiracy to rule the world. Does anyone really think this guy supports anything that is not exactly in line with his ideals? Come on now. Divine mindset is the mindset based on the divine being he follows, no one else's.
Don't like the sound of "new world order."
I do! anything has got to be better than our current order! lol
Wow.
I can't believe that this Iranian President guy sucked me in again. I actually read his trash, again. What's the matter with me?
everyone needs a good laugh now and then, and he sure delivers...
Once again, another reason to stop funding the UN, except for humanitarian efforts.
