Read the article. It states very clearly that the border is not secured. It states that it is not possible to be secured. That includes fences. The article makes it very clear that they are beefing up security and checkpoints where they can to catch a murderer. Well vons - looks like others have tried to answer your comment for me -- yes, i've crossed the US/Canadian border a few times though granted it was years ago. You obviously go through the major border crossing points, but go take a good look at a US map and you will find, just like on the southern border, there are HUNDREDS of miles and 'little towns' that are not covered by border guards. However, your idea of lining up 3 million guards on the northern border, along with lining up 3 million on the southern border, just might solve our unemployment problem.. Go look at that map now, ya hear:).

OK, vons, I agree with spike. Have you ever crossed back to the U.S.? It is easy as hell to get INTO Canada, the line going in is three cars long, and takes roughly 15 minutes. I know this from crossing in one of the busiest crossings in SHELBY, MONTANA, which is about an HOUR from Glacier National Park, and I did it alot, considering I lived there for 5 years. It is a different story getting back in, however, with a line of cars roughly 2 MILES LONG coming back, and once you get up to the BORDER, your car gets searched, you go inside for 20 minutes to DECLARE anything, including the cheap cigarettes and booze that you went there to get for HALF the price, so, how often do you go over there, and are you an AMERICAN, or a CANADIAN, because that makes a difference as well. Oh yeah and about the MYSTERIOUS TOWNS, there are atleast 25 along the high-line of Montana, thats where they are, you IGNORANT CANADIAN, did you read the article, or do just like trashing AMERICANS? Really, to get a birth certificate, all you need is a COPY of an ID for ANYONE, and a note explaining WHY you need it, IF you are not THAT person, and just LIE about relation to the person, thats what my nephews dirty mother did to get my kids B.C.'s. And after you have that, to get a valid ID, you just need a PIECE OF MAIL and a Social Security Card to get that once you have a B.C. Has ANYONE ever been a victim of IDENTITY THEFT? Or are all the cases I have worked on just a bunch of B.S.?? And no, we are not the same. WE HAVE TO PAY FOR OUR OWN HEALTH CARE, OR BE FINED FOR NOT HAVING INSURANCE, or did you not hear about NOBAMAS health care bill??? Im actually guaranteed health care with or without a job. The thing you dont see is our taxes. We are one of, if not the highest taxed country in the world.
