The prophet Mohammad is viewed as the more current prophet - so when what Mohammad said is in conflict with the teachings of Jesus - the Muslims go with Mohammad. And it doesn't take a religious person to kill other people. Neither Hitler nor Stalin was noted for being particularly religious. Stalin was an atheist. Both killed tens of millions of people. The reason religion keeps getting brought up is that religious intolerance and hatred are the root causes of most of the problems in this world. Religion is divisive and immoral and leads to thousands of deaths each year. Religion needs to be buried in the dustbin of society alongside with the arcane theories that the world is flat, the earth is the centre of the solar system (and universe). It is time modern society rid itself of the shackles of religious indoctrination and realized that all men and women are equal, regardless of race, colour, creed, disability, sexual orientation and treat each other with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Hey Psychobabble, I am not a big fan of religion myself, but when looking at the masses, I do believe that some people really need religion in order to control themselves and put a perspective on life. Some people need to believe that there is a big bad guy up there looking at everything they do. If not, I think chaos might overtake their lives. Without that fear of ending up in hell, some people would do anything... It would be like living in a cartoon: no rules.

Rather than having no religions, it would be better to have ONE religion. And it should be one sentence lol, not a whole book that anyone can dispute over the meaning of this word or that.

Israel has been escalating and applying "much greater force" for 60 years now, it doesn't seem to be working. Peace is, if anything, even more distant now.

The Israeli way has been to make the lives of the Palestinians as miserable as possible, and when they rebel against the mistreatment, Israel uses that rebellion as an excuse to crack down even more and destroy their homes and businesses and farms, and even kill off more Palestinians.

Funny, Israel destroys building after building, home after home ... Kill child after child, displaces family after family all while reducing Palestinian territory and increasing that of Israels beyond the already unfair 1967 borders. Who's the bad guy in all this? The ones being displaced, murdered and left homeless and nationless.

Not that I agree with these means, but if you all would stop watching FOX or CNN, maybe you'd get the other side of the story. Yes, there are extremists and Islamists who do crazy stuff like strap bombs on themselves and those people deserve whatever death they face in my opinion. Others who are driven or are convinced to strap bombs on themselves, however, I have pity for - why? Because most of these people are vulnerable to suggestions on solutions to their problems of being left displaced and having murdered families. They are told that if they strap a bomb on and commit suicide, they will make a political statement that will save their country and any other family such as theirs from being put through agony. This is NOT Muslim extremism, but national self defense - BUT IS NOT THE CORRECT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. In the case of most Palestinians that strap those bombs it has nothing to do with Muslim or not... there is quite a big Christian Palestinian population that has been left equally displaced and agonized. Unfortunately, Palestine has not been allowed to have a national army and have been driven to become international outcasts so for every air raid Israel conducts, what's the UN going to do for Palestine? Say "bad Israel... BAD!" and then Israel does it again to the same response. What do the Palestinians do then? Any suggestions? It's not like they can respond militarily with their non-existent jets or machine guns. I don't agree with strapping a bomb on yourself to make a political statement, all I'm saying is to stop it you need to understand it and fix the problem that drives those people to do such things. For someone to actually feel strapping a bomb on themselves and killing innocents is a SOLUTION is a real problem, it means this is a last resort. How horrible. The sad part is, many people here don't even bother understanding it because Israel is the victim somehow. The only victims in Israel are the Israeli people who have not chosen what they have been left with -- the government on the other hand is nothing short of evil.

The ignorance in most these arguments is that the Israeli-Palestinian case is being treated like an Al Qaeda case, where they are actually very different. Al Qaeda has no land and has illegitimate goals and aspirations - real terrorists and Muslim extremists. Palestinians are fighting for national sovereignty and the return of land (even if in significantly smaller parts to the original size).

Anyway... everyone is free to think as they please, but suggesting stronger retaliation to a suicide bomber even after the bombing itself is a form of last resort will not make things better Chief :-)

If the Israelis were to retaliate the way some say they already are, there would be no more Islamic fanatics. Israel has shown remarkable restraint by not obliterating these idiots who keep attacking them.

I believe Israel's foriegn policy has been off. Israel has been much too soft. The Arabs wanted Israel to evacuate Lebanon and it did. As a thank you, Israel got bombed from the north. The Palestinians wanted Israel to evacuate Gaza and it did. Hundreds of Israeli citizens WERE FORCED OUT OF THEIR HOMES IN GAZA TO MAKE WAY FOR THE PALESTINIANS who later thanked Israel with bombings from the south.

When dealing with hundreds of bombs falling on your land, each with the potential to kill dozens I ask you: What would your country do? What would any country do?

When Israel retaliated, unprecedented precautions were made to avoid civilian casualties. Millions of pamphlets were dropped and tens of thousands of phone calls were made warning the Palestinians of incoming attacks. Many operations were aborted due to high risk of civilian casualties.

Whenever a rocket kills an innocent Israeli, the Palestinian people dance in the streets. Whenever an innocent palestinian casualty occurs, the IDF soldiers responsible are questioned and sometimes jailed.

Adam, with all due respect, all the points you make are true ONLY when in context. For example, you say to look at the Palestinian State proposal? Which one? There have been many and all different. Then you go on to say that they wouldn't be able to do this and that, but till when? And under what conditions? You never mention the fact that these conditions are not eternal, only temporary till Palestine can prove that it can be independent WITHOUT attacking Israel.

Do you really expect Israel to give the Palestinians airspace control and control over road blocks?? Within days there would be dozens of attacks on Israeli civilians and you know it. None of what you propose can be achieved in 1 day. First the Palestinians have to prove to Israel that they are no longer hostile. Then they can be free to do whatever they please.

There have been many agreements between the Palestinians and Israelis, in conjunction with every President since Eisenhower, and the Israelis have never held up their end on any one of them. Revisionist Islamics are trying madly to get original websites blocked that include the numbers of Sura with several English translations by Muslims who have impeccable credentials, and include the Mohammedan instructions which, in summary, are quite obvious:

So I purchased 2 copies of the Qur'an in English and was given a beautifully bound one and all three have that Sura #9 in them as I have summed it up and many other Suras. Mohammed is also clear with instructions to Conquer and history supports this. From the 7th Century when Islam was founded the power-play began, and it still has not ended. Ok I watched a history channel and know somethings about what was going on after the World War II. The controlling country of where is Israel was started at was controlled by The British. There were many palestinian settlements in this area at the time. At the end of the war no one knew what to do with the displaced Jews from the concentration camps that survived. Most of them made their way toward the Holy Land. Since no country would take in the masses of Jews who were displaced from their original home countries. They were given the West Bank area. This began the terror of Israelis against the Palestinians. There are many memorials put up in the areas of Israel where whole towns were totally destroyed by the first terroristic Israelis. You ask who was their leader. Non other than Menachem Begin the same man the US sold their soul to protect Israel. That is why we allow them to attack the Palestinians with no mercy and allow them to commit genocide and help is sent to them they attack the aid workers. Please they shoot at a UN aid station and lets just smack them on the wrists and say dont do it again. I am not against Jews. They are ok, but these are zionists that live in Israel. First off, after WWI the Brits were given control of the area known today as Israel. Before the end of WWII there was talk by the League of Nations of creating what is known as Israel today. There was also a mean little Imam hell bent on killing all Jews for living in the area. His name was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin Al-Husseini. He sparked riots against the Jewish quarter as early as the 1920s. There was no Israel there at the time and those living in the area lived peacefully together, Jews and Arabs alike. This wonderful man even sided with the Nazis during WWII with hopes of eliminating all Jews from the face of the Earth. This is what you stand for and defend here today.

Israel has occupied the land "they are on" for close to 4,000 years. Hebrews/Jews/Israelis are the same culture and have never been removed from their land. Conquerers came and went, Greeks, Romans, Assyrians, Egytians, Mohammedans, and many more ... none have succeeded in uprooting that culture.

On the contrary, it is the other cultures which have disappeared into antiquity. And aside from the fact that the founder of Christianity was a Jew and Christianity was built upon the basic truths of Judaism, Mohammed himself borrowed copiously from both the Old and the New Testament of the Bible. His only creative segments were devoted to Conquer, and to Control the Conquered.

Hestia, the reason for the palestenian deaths is that they also kill eachother. Their whole religion is based on hatred. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Odd how extremists (on opposite ends of the continuum) are so much alike.

The problem with that is that many times if you are the disagreeing person on many things then you are labeled the hater or the racist when in fact your discourse and the way you actually feel may have nothing to do with hate. That is what is going on nowadays, whether you are talking about immigration or the fact you don't like Islam or whatever the case may be. Simple comments about people's behavior bring out comments that you must be a hater. When that occurs there is no hope because freedom of speech is taken away. Think about it. Criticize Obama on a Liberal talk forum and what do you get? Why you must be a hater or don't like Blacks or are racist. This is common and many people don't think it is a problem. Sure takes away the belief that we can call each other friends!
