Israel never attacked or bombed NYC where as the Muslim and Palestinian have. Israel and USA have been friends since 1947 when Israel was conceived under UN charter. America and Israel are more than important trading partners, mutually benefiting both countries. When Saddam launched surprise missile attacks upon Israel during the US invasion of Iraq, the US requested Israel not to retaliate against Iraq as that may jeopardize key Arab support of US military bases in neighboring Arab nations as well as the possibility of mobilizing hostile Arab intervention that may increase US casualty. Israel complied only because America is a long-time friend of Israel. What America asked of Israel is no small favor. No sovereign nation should be asked to swallow its pride and allow itself to be attacked by Iraqi missiles with impunity.

Ok, when are we going to realize Governemnts do not care about other countries that they cannot benefit from. What can we benefit from Haiti??? NOTHING. What can we benefit from South Africa??? Can you live with that? Ten million in aid but no mention if we've any Humanitarian aid on the ground helping victims or whether or not the Taliban and Al Qaida in the region have mobilized any aid to assist their neighbors, host and fellow Muslims. This seems to be a situation where "actions" could go much farther than words and/or cash (which probably will wind up in some corrupt tribal leaders pockets anyhow) in proving our intent for the region and developing that "good will" our leaders keep claiming to be about. If I were a Pakistani in peril from this disaster, seeing the difference in how these different factions respond to and come together for the people caught in this dillema would go a long way. This is a moment for groups to set aside there differences and come to the aid of their fellow human beings. To be attacked while administering aid would undoubtedly be a huge propaganda tool for those attacked and something to be avoided by all those concerned.

Whenever there is an article about extension of unemployment, Americans attack Americans and call each other leeches, thieves, lazy. We attack one another for politics that allow jobs to go to nations that are not friendly to the US. Yet, the monies spent on foreign aid and useless wars can help at home.
We will have a civil war soon if we don't redirect resources and jobs back into the US economy.
At least WWII produced and fed the US economy. And the US aid in Europe was not squandered because we were not trying to reinvent cultures.

Somebody in the government needs to catch on here. We are supporting the leaders in Iraq and having our troops killed while blowing tons of cash while the leader was voted out of office and said he would not leave. That is their idea of Democracy. Now Pakistan where nothing is done for our country but we prop them up and send money. Apparently we have quite a bit of cash to throw around. We should leave their countries, like the want us to, and let them fight as they have been doing for thousands of years. If they hide people who want to attack our country, carpet bomb their cities. Basically, "you hide them we will bomb them". If they refuse to let oil come into this country, take over the fields and pay a reasonable price deducting the cost of getting it. This may seem a bit extreme but these people are our enemies and should be treated as such.

Any national disaster in any country is awful - innocent people do not deserve to suffer. On that note - I'd prefer that our country would just stay out of it.I do not agree with sending money to a country that harbors our sworn enemies. We have our own countrymen, women and children that need our aid and are not getting it. Love your neighbors - but lets focus on the one's on our block and not thousands of miles away!

Why is our gov't so eager to shell out millions/billions of dollars in relief and aid for foreign countries but leave those that are needy in our own country to fend for themselves?? A U.S. audit has found that the Pentagon cannot account for over 95 percent of $9.1 billion in Iraq reconstruction money.
The $8.7 billion in question was Iraqi money managed by the Pentagon.
