There is nothing more precious than life and family! God bless not only there situation but all the wonderful people of Haiti! They have been through far to much! Just look at that smile on both there faces! That is priceless!
This is a wonderful story! You rarely get to read about people going out of their way to help other people. I am so happy for the mother and her baby girl!
1 deleted, JohnChingHK trolling an infant. Better than your regular routine of whitenoise, but still. Trolling an infant! Come on. You're suspended for a week for violating #5 of the Code of Honor.
What a great story to wake up to. I can't imagine being that mother. What a great organization to care for the baby. There is good in the world. Though, not always reflected in Newsvine comments!
I agree, this is the first article I read today and what a blessing. The sheer joy in that precious baby girl's face and what a mirror image of a smile between her and her Mom!!! This made my day.... thank you and God bless generous people going out of their way to assist others. This baby girl is just a month younger than my own precious Granddaughter and I appreciate our life so much more today.
stories like these confirm in my heart that there is a God, these is a reason for that little girl to live after going through so much. Truly this is a miracle. God bless the Doctors and the Organization that helped her.
Why the hell can't we just give the credit to the hard work and efforts of the folks that made this possible without some jackass stepping in and giving the credit to God? We humans are capable of making good things happen all by ourselves you know. Save your illusions for sunday coffee hour church chat please.
Don't you feel sorry for the curmudgeons who don't know the joy and power of God? Of course those people deserve credit. We are called to be God's hands and feet in this world. They obeyed the call. God bless them!
yeah, my bad. got hurricanes on my mind (tis the season). either way, if god is responsible for this miracle then he's responsible for the actual earthquake, which was more devastating.
Virtus ... newflash .... they are doctors! That is their job!! What the hell are you talking about that "they obeyed the call"!!! They obeyed their oath as doctors. For all you know, I was one of them.
What does this story have to do with a higher power? How many people died in the quake? This story is 1 in a 1,000,000... where is the higher power for the other 999,999? Where was it when the fire burnt the baby's skull? Where was it when rubble crushed the baby's arm and left her in debris for 2 days alone?
It seems that if a story is happy (and don't get me wrong, this story is extremely joyous) someone claims that it is because of "god." If a story is sad, it is a learning lesson from "god." Either way you spin it, you still have nothing to base that presumption on. There is no verification of a higher power in this story... it is happenstance... as is life.
I am tickled to see these two get to reunite. We have luck to thank for the fact that rubble crushed her arm, not her head. We have man's developed brain, hard work, and determination to thank for finding mom!
You make me want to vomit up a belly full of butterflies, puppy breath and sunshine. What ... are we humans not capable of good without God taking the credit?
Personally, I strive to do good and be good on my own accord, and I don't need God to make it happen. However, I fully expect someone to come back with "you poor soul, I will pray for you" ... thereby attributing my future good deeds to your intervention. Excuse me while I go floss the butterfies out of my teeth.
Mike 2050165---So because you don't believe, nobody should? If you don't want to believe then don't, but by the same token, don't try and explain away or demean the beliefs of others just because they differ from yours.
Mike - not to worry, I will pray for others who are more deserving. God gave man free will so you can believe what you want to believe - I will not call you names or smear you for your beliefs but why must you smear others?
Mike, no matter what you say or do there are always going to be people who need to have a parent figure, and need to believe in a God who is running everything and who occasionally intervenes in human lives with assorted miracles. It is not worth getting upset or arguing about it. It is like arguing with someone who is not quite sane, since their attitudes and beliefs are not predicated in reality. You may as well be speaking in Chinese. Just be happy you are not one of them...
In the meantime, I, too, am blown away by the sheer persistence and dedication of the people who brought this little girl such a long way from devastating injury to health and her mothers arms, especially since you know that for every success like this there were probably dozens of heart-breaking failed attempts. What an incredible achievement to have the heart to persist in the face of such odds!
I thank you for not praying for me. That way, my good deeds will be attributable to nobody other than me, thus reinforcing the reality that humans are capable of good without the intervention of Him.
If you choose to believe, then so be it and more power to you. But when you bring your idiology into a public forum, you are a target for those of us that prefer to give credit where it is due ... instead of giving it to something that is unseen, unheard and leaves no tracks of its existence.
Handgunner said, "Mike - not to worry, I will pray for others who are more deserving. God gave man free will so you can believe what you want to believe"
Thanks for the religious intolerance you show. I can tolerate your religion but yet you can't tolerate another person's right to not believe in fantasy. You are intolerant! In your bigotry you have just hijacked the story from a wonderful mother/child. Good job God-Squad.
There's no reason for you to be so cynical. Just because you aren't a believer, doesn't give you the right to disrespect the beliefs of others. You might not AGREE with us, but you don't have to be a butt hole about it. As Christians, we do believe that God does everything for a reason. Something may sound tragic to us at first, but God has a way of taking a sad situation, SUCH AS YOU, and blossoming it into a beautiful showcase of his grace and mercy... The story of this little girl and her mother is beautiful, but you, have found a way to kill the mood on the forum. But its cool, because, the joy God gave us, can't be taken away by sour, cynical people like you. Have a blessed Day!!!
God is very proud of me because I stood up for him... While I am Christian, I'm still an imperfect human, thus succeptible to earthly ways... YES... I called you a butt hole becasue your whole tone is just RUDE! You're being rude by disrespecting our beliefs, and you sound so cynical. You can't even entertain the idea, that ..." Hey, maybe there IS a God." You can't even do that! So yes, you are a SAD, SOUR, CYNICAL MAN...
And your response proves MY point. There is a way to disagree with people without being A BUTT HOLE!
Joe and Mike - Just because you don't believe or you may have believed and lost your faith, does not mean that others in this world are on the same boat as you are. Faith heals. God heals. There are some who do not get their prayers answered that way that they want them to be answered, but that does not mean that God failed them. God has a plan for all of us. Your cynicism isn't needed. I will pray for you both.
Regarding a matter as critical to the health and well being of the world, the word "maybe" should not be a factor (as in maybe there IS a God). Here is an exercise for you: list the wars where religion played a positive role and then list the wars where religion played a negative role. At the end of this exercise you will only have one list.
Anyone else see the interesting dichotomy of a bible-thumper with a username referencing pagan ideas? ;-)
I have to agree that saying "All good things come from God" (paraphrased) is taking the credit away from the rescuers and medical specialists that saved this precious child's life and helped reunite her with her mother. Because I am an agnostic does that mean I cannot, by your explanations above, do good things? I have no problem with anyone voicing their beliefs, this is a public forum. I have a problem with reading that my belief is wrong and I am headed to your "hell" for not agreeing with you.
Mike - The possitive and negative role of religion in war is dependent on the point of view of the people involved in the war. You can continue on the path of religion bashing, but for the people who truely believe, your words only confirm and strengthen the faith of those who know God.
To Mr Ching: You must havae replaced your heart with a bag of dong. The smiles on both the mother and the daughter were beautiful and your cmments were disgraceful. My heart was filled with joy; as I veiwed their picture.
To Mike: You may not believe in God, but that's your loss. Whether you with to believe in Him or not, doen't make any less real. Also, beleive it or not, even though you refect Him, He still loves you. I pray one day you will see the lilght and embrace God. I was once llike you, but I thank God everyday, that He didn't stoop loving me anyway.
Nobody "knows" God .... that is the point! All the questions could be answered, and evil could finally be eventually be diminished with this knowledge. But no, "He" depends on your faith to verify "His" existence ... meanwhile the world tumbles further into despair and confusion. For all the power, wisdom, kindness, etc. that you believers place in "Him", why is it that the only time we see a sign it comes in the form of a stain on a wall or piece of burnt toast that looks like Mary or Jesus?
I relate to everything Mike says. And just because so-and-so "found" God, not everybody does. And it is not their fault. Mike, check out the American Humanist Society. A lot of wonderful, decent humans that do not believe in a God.
Who's talking about wars? I'm talking about the views of others and the negative attitude you have taken toward Christianity.
You make me want to vomit up a belly full of butterflies, puppy breath and sunshine.
Like, how rude and intolerant is that? Yes, maybe I was rude for the name calling, but it still goes to prove my poiunt. You don't have to be disagreeable for the the sake of being disagreeable.
And somehow we have all managed to take the attention awaqy from this beautiful reunion of mother and child, and turned it into a religious debate.
Non- Believers and Christians can agree... This is an AWESOME story!!!
good points mike. however, rudeness will get you nowhere with anyone. i understand it's tough to be tactful with people of opposing views, but science has been clashing with religion for thousands of years. one forum post won't change the mind of anyone. even the most beautiful piece of artwork is overlooked by the blind.
you stand up for god, or so you claim. you seem to fit the profile of someone who can't fathom the idea that there is NOT a god.
there was an article yesterday about the little girl who got her legs chopped off in Tanzania because she was albino and some lunatic needed her blood for a potion. witch doctors have a religion too and their practices seem crazy to most people in a western society (you included). a non-believer sees the evil and craziness of organized religion (crusades, suicide bombings, torture, penance, sacrifices, evangelists, etc.) and says to themselves "no way is there a god with these kind of things happening".
There's no concrete evidence that says a god exists. You can't "see" it in the world around us. Some people's minds require evidence for belief. Would a god make a non-believer? Don't tell me satan has corrupted them...
So the community silenced my posting because I mention vomiting butterflies, puppy breath and sunshine? Come on, that was just a humorous approach to the argument of monotonous postings that serve to credit God and discredit all of those who were REALLY responsible for the miraculous reunion in the story. That's okay because I have left my mark in this message board in numerous locations, and will continue to do so. My message is good for humanity and I plan on spreading the word.
I can accept people's belief even if I don't agree with it as long as it doesn't involve breaking laws and killing each other (volunteered sacrifice is an exception.. if they want to blow themselves up or throw themselves on an alter.. that's their stupidity- just as long as they don't take other's out with them).
Really... what's the difference between believing that there is a God due to FAITH and believing in a collection of THEORIES... that there is no God? Neither have been proven beyond a doubt.
In the end, it's not what one believes or what one says that makes life sweeter for others.. it's what we do and how we treat those that aren't like us/ believe like us/ think like us. As far as tragedies are concern.... maybe that's proof there is no God.. or maybe God simply wants us to understand Joy and give humans a chance to stop thinking only about ourselves by us having sorrow in our lives... really that's the beauty of being intelligent living beings... It's our choice what we take away from everything we experience... I find I don't need to strip someone of their beliefs that differ from me. As long as they are basically good people. Respectfully- let them pray or not pray, let them praise God or praise science... it's not going to bring the end of the World around.
This is a tough subject. While I grew up going to church and my father-in-law is a pastor, I have to say Mike makes a valid point. IF you ARE a christian then you would show tolerance for other people's beliefs. He not once said anything negative about your beliefs. The only thing he said (which you misinterperetted as a personal attack) was that this was not divine intervention that saved the child but good human beings. Whether it was God telling them what to do or their own Human goodness, doesn't matter. She was saved. Why does it have to be a bible beating session? Why does he have to be wrong because he doesn't believe What you believe? Stop pointing fingers, YOU go pray to your God. Mike you thank those doctors and good samaritans and lets all be happy "butterfly puking" people k? :-) Have a nice day!
Wow... this one sure blew up... I haven't been around to defend myself, but thanks Mike and all others who did.
I never took a nasty attitude or took the joy from the story... see my original post... I almost teared up over how wonderful the reunion of mother and child is.
Crediting it to a metaphysical character is ridiculous, though.
Today, god lost my keys, but then he found them. He made the cable guy show up late, but at least god made him come. He burnt down a house in downtown cincinnati and shot a school teacher, but he got the cat out alive and caught the murderer...
I know this is cliche, but it is true, "god" has been around for all of recorded history and more to fill in the holes in science. As science fills them in with empirical evidence, religion has to back out... there is no room for it. How long did it take for the Vatican to admit that planets revolve around the sun? Look it up! There are plenty more examples.
I find the most hope in humanity as I see religion making its exit. I am 29 years old and I see my generation shunning religion because of its politics, its crimes against humanity, and its intolerrance... I see the people who shun religion going out to do good deeds out of there own self-motivation. THAT is human progress.
I am happy that some of you have your faith, you are obviously weak-minded enough to not do good without it. I'm pragmatic, if it works for you, then do it. But, mankind is smart and slowly but surely we ARE seeing the err in the dogmas that fight our good human nature. Intolerance that leads to war and murder, outdated-beliefs that fight science and progress, hypocrites on pulpits reading from a man-written book by day and cheating, stealing, molesting by night are all on their way out. Mankind is too smart for that!
Thanks for your opinion. But I know alot of people who don't believe in God. My Dad is one of them. I totally understand the logic behind his views. I just don't agree with them.
I'm not one of those Christians who always talk about God, or finds a way to bring God into EVERY conversation, but when I read this article, I knew in MY heart that this was an act of God. Yes the earthquake was too. And no, I dont know why God allowed the earthquake to happen, but it did. God does everything for a reason, and he works in myserious ways.
I consider myself a VERY open minded person. I can put myself in other people's shoes. But I also believe that God exists. I might not be perfect, but I take my faith in God seriously. I just get agitated when people with opposing views are rude in their disagreement, thats all. I have NO PROBLEM accepting the views of others, and I completely understand that some people need concrete evidence of HIS existence.
I HAVE concrete evidence that God exists. My life is evidence, the fact that the little girl in this story is evidence. Everything around us, positive and negative, is evidence that God is real. Its just all in how you look at it.
Messagebeliever ... I'm still trying to figure out what the hell a mamee and papee are. You are the second turd to mention this. How can there be two people retarded enough to use this phrase in the same message board?
You know when I saw the article, I thought first..OMG, what a beautiful smile on the mother and child...and then I thought, NOBODY could find anything negative to say about this article...and then you see an idiot like John Ching...You should be so ashamed of yourself...and pray that nothing like this would ever happen to anyone you love and care about...and think how you would feel if anyone ever was so cruel towards them...
It's amazing that even in a beautiful story of love and restoration, that people can comment in such ignorant and pathetic ways. I bet if JohnChingHK had been caught in a fire and had his brain exposed and then had been buried in rubble of a hospital for two days and lost his right arm and became then became separated from his people, seemingly endlessly, and if he had experienced the trauma this baby has experienced, he might have an ugly look on his face also. In fact his attitude exposes his ugliness without even seeing him.
For all the non-believers out there, this just shows that there is a power beyond all understanding. Seen and unseen. For all the believers out there, the Lord still lives and he's alive and working. Miracles do happen every day. What a wonderful story.
I just sat here shaking my head thinking how awesome God is to display His grace from this horrific disaster. Through this story I could "hear" HIM say "though the the world has forgotten you - I have not"!
May all those who love HIM be encouraged to know that in the "rubble" of life HE has not forgotten you! He has love for Haiti and He has love for you!
So... if God has love for "His" people, why put them through this? You're confusing love with cruelty, folks. Take God (and any diety) out of the equation and just be happy for the mom whose kid was found.
A heartwarming story for one family, still we must ask what has happened to the billions of dollars in aid collected by the countless charities that sprung up overnight.
According to recent reports, only 6% of donations have been used. This is outrageous!
These monies were collected to aid the Haitian people, not line the pockets of the "charities" involved.
The money has not been collected. Countries that offered to help have not followed through with the funds. Sad, but true! I believe that they all meant well, but there are a whole lot of people hurting these days.
Some of the money given by other countries was also given as debt forgiveness for debt already accrued by Haiti...which is great, but did not give them any tangible resources for dealing with the immediate problems.
I am in no way trying to say that there is not corruption and unnecessary suffering because of it, nor am I saying that anyone should call it a day because of one miraculous success story, but if I spent all my time focusing on the bad and none of it celebrating an against-all-odds victory, I would be an impoverished soul indeed. Little celebrations (and the smiles on the faces of this mother and daughter) give me the strength to keep fighting for what is right. Sorry if I choose to fully enjoy a little spot of light in the darkness.
That is a great attitude PKP I think God would want us to focus on the good and not get so wrapped up in the evil, when we do so we give too much power to the evil on this earth. This is a beautiful moment for this lovely baby and her mom.. lets celebrate that, then get back to work on getting things done. We are Gods hands on this earth, lets get to work doing good things to show His love to everyone, even to Ching..
Impossible to imagine the emotions involved in this story. I went crazy when I lost my child at the mall for 20 minutes! I can't wrap my brain around this mother's grief .. and ultimate joy.
John Ching: You should have been dumped in the slums of Haiti and left in the back alleys. I'm sure even the wild dogs there would have left you alone.
Great story! I think this baby's smile says it all. Just a thought, stop responding to John asschinghole and he will go away. People like this want all the attention even if it is negative. I sure hope he does not have children or any plans to reproduce. We have enough evil, hateful, insensitive people living here.

Mike has a valid point. The rescuers, doctors and organizations did this. They should get credit.
Not all people believe in fantasy and can see reality for what it is. Reality saved this child. Real people did the work.
This couldnt have been possible with God not looking over all the operations and procedures. God Deserves All the Glory.

good points mike. however, rudeness will get you nowhere with anyone. i understand it's tough to be tactful with people of opposing views, but science has been clashing with religion for thousands of years. one forum post won't change the mind of anyone. even the most beautiful piece of artwork is overlooked by the blind.
luckylibra,
you stand up for god, or so you claim. you seem to fit the profile of someone who can't fathom the idea that there is NOT a god.
there was an article yesterday about the little girl who got her legs chopped off in Tanzania because she was albino and some lunatic needed her blood for a potion. witch doctors have a religion too and their practices seem crazy to most people in a western society (you included). a non-believer sees the evil and craziness of organized religion (crusades, suicide bombings, torture, penance, sacrifices, evangelists, etc.) and says to themselves "no way is there a god with these kind of things happening".
Well said MKC-TN
very well sd... thanks
Hoosier--
Thanks for your opinion.
First news story for me too. Thank you for the positive news!!!
Those smiles are PRICELESS!!!!
Very true Babrbara... John Ching is the ugliest person I have encountered today.
And I think we would all pretty much agree that JohnChing needs to go have his eyes examined.
PS: That is a beautiful face of total JOY on that baby! What the heck kinda miserable life is this JohnChingHK leading???
JohnChingHK, You are truly an ugly man.
Beautiful story!
A heart warmer. Puts a smile on my face and heart.
Finally! I read a "good news" story". And Ching, climb back under the rock from
where you came. Nothing nice to say, close the mouth.
For all the non-believers out there, this just shows that there is a power beyond all understanding. Seen and unseen. For all the believers out there, the Lord still lives and he's alive and working. Miracles do happen every day. What a wonderful story.
AMEN!!!
PRAISE HIS NAME!!! HE LIVES FOREVER!!
This is a wonderful, feell good story. I am overjoyed for mother and child.
However .... God has love for Haiti?? One good earthquake story for every 5,000 bad ones. With that kind of friend, who needs enemies?
So... if God has love for "His" people, why put them through this? You're confusing love with cruelty, folks. Take God (and any diety) out of the equation and just be happy for the mom whose kid was found.
On a cute note: CHEEK NOMS!!!
Agreed, Laura. I'm an atheist and the only thing I care about if the mother and the kid. It is awesome that she made it thanks to the paramedics.
@JohnChingHK - you are a @!$%#ing idiot. To be so cruel.
I cannot imagine the joy for both mother and daughter to be brought back together after so long!!! They are both BEAUTIFUL people!!!!!
Wonderful story!!!!!
what an amazing story! It is so nice to see that miracles do happen! May god bless the people who helped make this happen and mother and child!
John, people like you are what is wrong with the world! You have no heart!!!
Where is the accountability?
Interesting point. I agree.
Look at the joy on those faces! Wonderful!
Oh, Steve 447372, can't you just shut up and enjoy for a minute?
Not while thousands are still suffering & the aid should be made available... how about you?
Thank God for all the people in this story and thank you England, you make me proud! That is a beautiful baby!
Thier smiles make me smile. What a great way to start the day! Thanks for the good news!
