I think the lives we are losing and the money it is costing us just does not add up to what any of it is worth. We can protect our own country on our own soil and improve our intelligence agencies.

I think many people feel the same, I think even this administration feels like there in a catch 22, the problem is if you pack up and leave, you have to be prepared to bring in a million or so refugees, because they will surely be slaughtered by the Taliban and their Arab assassins. I get the catch-22 argument as well. I understand what would happen if we pulled out but how long do you think we can stay there? How many lives do we have to lose? How much money should it cost us? I think a lot of the resentment the people in the Middle East is due to the fact that we give blind support to Israel. I have to say though, that I don't think that would change if we stopped supporting them now. The damage has been done.

If you believe ancient texts give right to claim of land and territory, then 90% of the people of the world have to leave their present homes, lands and territories, including all non Indian peoples in this country.

Originally Israel was not our problem. The immigration of Israelis into the country started before we ever stuck our noses into it. As to im-in-hell's smash and kill solution, that is a policy which wouldn't work in a Warner Brother's cartoon. We are a nation of 300+ million people on a world inhabited by over 6 billion. We can't simply just start wiping out entire nations to make ourselves feel safer. If we do (and we won't), eventually we will find ourselves squarely in conflict with 95% of the worlds people ...and we will lose ...or the entire world will be destroyed.

No beggar can change the fate of other beggars, look at the present data of economy here and find how difficult situation will be down the road if things go this way. The best way for US to get rid of these people, bring troops back safely, do not spend a single penny on the war and start to care about the well being of US citizen. Those people will never be changed if you read the history of that region, they are still in stone age, educating them to think in civilized way, in fact, wasteful exercise. Take my words, those who are civilized from that region have become the part of this society for decades and they are no longer beggars by the way.

Perhaps it's a good idea to have our intel investigate both side of the table (Wiki Leaks, Afghan government and Pakistan intel) for the legebility of this report before we make any conclusions.

I in the past have not had a problem with helping nations out with foreign aid. The problem I am beginning to have is two fold:

1. Why are we helping with aid or arms with countries that are giving money to our enemies and in a lot of cases these countries are even our enemies which we will most likely end up fighting in the future (look at Iraq).

2. Why is it that we are going into debt to give these people money. We as a country are broke, and we are using our own money that we have borrowed, and will have to pay back, to help these countries.

Oh yes, and for all you people that are screaming about us helping Israel; they are the only country in the middle east that are actually our allies, they do have an elected government, and I do not know about you but I have never seen an Israeli strap bombs onto themselves and blow up innocent women and children. Kirk I agree with you. I think one of Bush's real reason for going into Iraq was to have a staging ground for Iran (thus the need for the fabricated WMD evidence). He did not expect us to get bogged down in Iraq like we did. Once the support for Iraq waned he knew he would not be able to sell the country on Iran. I think Iran was always his real target.

First of all how exactly am I a lemming? How did I smear the past? What in my post about Bush was untrue? Bush and others in the administration have come out and admitted that A.Q. were not in Iraq (as the previous administration stated in their case for war). Where are all the weapons of mass destruction? He sent our troops to war without the proper equipment. When our troops returned they were not treated right (look at high cases of ptsd and half VAs don't have clinics set up). Are you kidding How long ago was Clinton president? How about Carter? For that matter how about FDR? the reason I ask about these former presidents is that people on the right love to bring these democratic presidents up when it comes to events that are happening today.

Guess what I know you don't tax increases but how else are we going to pay for things? Let's pull a California and put hard working teachers, cops, and fireman on minimum wage. That makes sense since the legislation cannot pass a budget lets take it out on hard working people (that is a republican Governor by the way). Or lets do what the Governor in NJ is doing by making teachers and their unions the scape goat. How is it that teachers that make 40 to 50 thousand a year are expected to take a two to three year pay freeze but a small town that has a superintendent making 200,000 a year does not have to take a pay freeze. Also, that small town has 4 assistant superintendents making over 100,000 a year. Why does a small town need 4 assistant superintendents. Or why is it that an poor district taken over by the state of NJ somehow loses two million dollars while under state control. Instead of trying to find the corrupt person that stole the money they cut teachers jobs. They expect hard working teachers to take a pay freeze but the legislation does not take one. Christie said everyone has to take one for the team but Christie did not take a pay freeze. Yet another Republican Governor that doesn't mind going after hard working people but does not expect the politicians to lead by example.
