There is plenty to do besides go downtown in Cincy. After all these years, I will find that something else to do on the 4th from now on. No one is forced to go downtown.
I am not gay however, I have no problem with the Pride Parade marching on the 4th of July. Aren't we supposed to be celebrating "independence" and "freedom?" You haters probably won't take your kids to a fun parade that encompasses ALL the people who live in Cincinnati because maybe your child wants to know if they can have a rainbow T-shirt. For a group of citizens who claim to be caring Christians, the majority of Cincinnatians are hypocritical, intolerant and racist. Start acting what you preach and treat others with decency and respect - and enjoy the entire parade. The Shriner's cars are annoying to me, but I don't hate them, and they do excellent work, having the Pride Parade downtown may help some people see that Cincinnati can be tolerant.
I think the person who still refers to that community as "queer" should be deported. He is one of the problems in this society. Bigotry, racisim, descrimination comes in many shapes and forms and he obviously harbors a few....such a pity.
I am the mother of two small children and still plan to go downtown for the parade. I have been to the parade in support of some great friends in the past. There was nothing about the parade that is indecent. My biggest worry is the crazy "family values" people that have such closed minds. I am a Christian first and foremost - I leave judging up to the Lord.
Why are people so homophobic? As a well educated person and straight male I cannot believe we as a society in Cincinnati are still practicing bigotry against diversity. In this state there seems to be a line of zero tolerance south of Columbus. What a shame and black mark for Ohio. A city of world class universities and we still have this nonsense going on.
That is why we always thought of Cincinnati as the "South" of Ohio. We have KKK celebrations on Fountain Square and in other parts of Ohio this would not be tolerated. I have seen it all since moving here.
i think it is sick that the queers are even allowed to march! i also think queers should be deported along with the illegal mexicans!!!!!!

Who would go downtown to celebrate anything? The place is a pit.
Maybe the parade will liven things up a bit.
