Where's Joe McCarthy when you need him? This is another NON story by MSNBC. If anyone thinks for a second that Russia and many other countries don't have hundreds of spies running around our country you're delerious. Just as we have spies in other countries. The concern is, as was stated by Susan in Amherst, NH above, that these people were able to exist so openly. Now hopefully our counter-espionage agencies had a grip on this and were limiting the information they were allowed to get. We will never know.

As a very good friend of mine, who still works for one of those three-initial agencies, once told me, "The world has no idea what really goes on in this world, and realistically they don't want to know"! We have espionage and infiltration just as does Russia. The problem we have is our country is an open book to influence and propagandize. Just look at our government. Both sides of the aisle are usually using their talking points, their agendas and their influence to control the electorate. If you don't think you've been brainwashed by your "political party" I ask you simply to do this in November, vote straight party-line against your political party. Waveriderj, you're exactly right. Read back through the last 70 or so years. Whenever our politicos get us tied down in any conflict, some cheesedick country gets heroic and takes a bite out of us. The Pueblo incident during the TET offensive in 1968 and Iran playing their games at a time they know we are stretched thin and dealing with two different wars come to mind.
