The true historical ranking done by only historians wait until 8 years after the close of a presidency before ranking a president. Clinton was added last year and placed at 21 of 42, right behind George H. W. Bush at 20. So much for the emotional polling I have seen spouting him to be #1 of all time. This group did hint that Bush would be between just below average to just above average.

Declaring Bush to be the all time worst President is nothing more than playing politics, just as the right calling democrat presidents including the current one "the all time worst".

Remember, the dems controlled Congress for over 50 years, until the "Contract with America". Then, the Dems held the WH. Take the last 2 years, you have TARP, which favored by libs and opposed by conservatives. Then there was Porkulous, and the takeover of GM and Chrysler. The firing of the GM chief executive by the WH. Then there was the oil spill and the refusal of this president to allow foreign help or even allow the local states and communities to help themselves. The foreign help was held up by the Jones Act, which protects local unions. The not allowing local clean ups was because of the libs environmental policies and dragging of feet by the administration, to maximize the tragedy. Not to mention the environmental laws that the libs enacted to force the companies to drill in deeper, more dangerous places.

The only "conservative" policies that have really been enacted since the 1920s were the Reagan tax cuts (too bad he didn't cut spending with it), and the "welfare reform act" (which was not exactly conservative, but definitely took the liberal policies and made them less liberal). Of course, there is the healthcare reform and now pushing of cap and tax. But, we wouldn't want facts to get in the way of a good narrative, would we. Nice try! Care to try again.

For what it worth, I do think President Obama is doing a great job, in my opinion better than any of the other candidates for President. He was left with a war that (in my opinion) we illegally entered, certainly not for the reasons that the American people were led to believe. He was left with a financial crisis that hasn't been seen since the 20/30s. He has people bashing him for something beyond his control (the oil spill), I kept hearing why doesn't he do this or why doesn't he do that, when the fact of the matter was, the United States just plain and simple did not have the technology to fix the problem. Could he have done some things different, sure, hindsight is always easy to look at. I truly believe that if anyone else had been president during the last 18 months, we still would be no better off than we are now, if anything we might have been worse. Now granted, this is just opinion, but nobody can really say how things would have different, you can have an opinion but that is all it would be! And here is another opinion, I think our worldwide reputation has improved during the last 18 months, why does this matter, well I traveled all over the world during my 30 years in the military, and its disconcerning when people don't look up to the United States like they did when I first came into the military. The only thing tearing this country apart is the bashing of this administration, it doesn't matter what they do, people are ready to bash them just for the plain and simple fact that they are democrates or I hate to say this but because of race! If people would be more constructive and less destructive in the criticism then maybe it wouldn't feel like this country is tearing itself apart

But the brain dead who refuse to accept the stupidity of their past presidential failure seem to have a problem with facing reality, it would mean they have to admit they and their failed party is wrong. In fact, they have consistently proven to fail. But, he is pursuing the same policies that kept the great depression going. FDR's socialist policies never worked. Heck, even the CBO said that passing the so-called "stimulus" package would delay recovery. You can argue all you want, but even JFK knew that if you want to stimulate the economy, you have broad based tax cuts. Increasing the deficit by paying off supporters has never worked. There are no new jobs from all that spending.

As for the oil spill, I don't doubt that we don't have the technology to fix the problem. I never once heard Obama say that. He did say he talked with experts, but not for the purpose of trying to solve the problem, but, in his own words: "so I know whose ass to kick". Very presidential of him.

You are right that our world wide reputation has suffered in that last 18 months. You are wrong as to the reason. You libs bashed Bush non-stop for 8 years. Yet, we were still respected and our allies knew we would support them. It has been the policy of this administration to embrace the thugs of the world and insult our allies. Our reputation has taken a hit among our allies because we are not supporting them like we should. We have lost the respect and fear of our enemies because they know that Obama is doing what they could not do, that is to weaken the US. And playing that dumb race card is old and stupid. I repeat and you did not even address this with all you said; most major economists state that the current recession is the WORST since the Great Depression, THERE IS NO mention of the recession during the Reagan administration, but they relate the CURRENT recession as the WORST since the Great Depression and when you look at the number of economists who state such it is 9 out of 10, so I repeat once more, give several economists who state explicitly that the recession during the Reagan administration was worse than what we are going through now???? Remember the improved jobs reports a couple of months ago that Obama and the libs praised? Well, the facts were out that the numbers consisted of mostly government census jobs. Lets start with the Branchflower report which was supposed to be a bipartisan effort run by a State Democrat, who actually spoke of the then Governors "disposition" in the investigation before the investigation began . Your article Author also does not discuss the State Trooper reports against the brother in law and negative findings that should certainly shine a light on the Troopers ability to perform a public safety job. The guy tased his step-son. If he will do that in his own home what is the expectation and liability this man carried forward into the public arena? Again many other allegations against him and only receives a short suspension because he had the weight of his Union behind him. The commissioner who did not relieve this Public Servant should have been relieved of duty. Can you imagine the liability on the State if the Trooper had caused a death or injury due to anyone of his character flaws. As the Governor and her family had intimate knowledge of his behavior she had an obligation to protect not only her family but anyone driving his stretch of hwy.

I suppose this author has no clue what actually happens ahead of any "major" project. I would suppose that he believes "breaking ground" is the first step. In the kindest light, it's a matter of exaggerated accomplishments as opposed to a flat-out lie, depending upon your interpretation of what she said, a stretching of the truth that pushes right up against being dishonest. As for Gore, the environment, climate change, etc. First, Gore is not a scientist, he's just the most visible - and apparently most disliked - spokesperson for climate change. Discrediting Gore does not discredit the science of climate change.

But, to your question, I guess it depends on your idea of 'prove'. I can't prove any animals are endangered or nearing extinction, but based upon the news I get a very real sense that many are in trouble. I can't prove oil in the water in the gulf is bad for the environment, but it seems likely. I can't prove dinosaurs ever existed. I can't prove breaking an atom apart causes a violent release of energy any more than I can prove there are billions of galaxies in the universe. I can't prove sharks are immune to cancer nor can I prove dolphins communicate with sonar.

So no, I cannot prove clear cutting great sections of the world's forests in conjunction with polluting the oceans, bad farming practices, billions of herd animals eating and releasing methane into the air, and of course mining and burning fossil fuels at an ever-increasing rate, is bad for the enclosed environment of this planet, but it certainly seems likely to have an impact if you believe in cause and effect.

Ultimately, to get back on point, this isn't about whether or not climate change exists, or if Palin had a hand in the pipeline, etc, but whether or not she flip-flopped and/or outright lied, and it seems pretty clear she did quite a bit of both. I still stand by my statement that there is much work to be done before a project of this magnitude breaks ground. Local, State and two National Interests have to be coordinated. Given that the remainder of the process must go through the current American Administration it may never be approved beyond what has been done to boost Illinois, regardless of anyone's energy or resources. As for those things you state you cannot prove well: Yes the population of an specific Animal species can be counted and tracked to see if the ration of birth v. death is in favor of the species surviving. Oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico is a bad thing beyond affecting the massive employment supported by the body of water. It can actually affect the ration of death to birth against specific species without human intervention. Scientists have proven Dinosaur's existed as there are fossil records that prove it as well as remains that can be found in a multitude of Museums. Splitting the atom causes a very nasty chain reaction it has been done and is a destructive force. What has not been proven is can that force be used safely and sanely by political jurisdictions. Human nature is involved so there will always be variables.

As for the finding on Smoking's hazards to health, Not sure if it took decades to prove or if the science was held to promote commerce. Possibly, the science was helped along a bit as an answer to other ills. Really hard sometimes to distinguish Science for knowledge and Science for profit.

So yes, I can agree to your last statement on a basis of common sense. There is nothing wrong with encouraging people to make reasonable choices toward our environment. Toward any aspect of life for that matter. I just don't think creating a green credit currency is in anyway helpful or credible. Now as for those herding animals. Well they are going to fart at will regardless of human need or intervention. It is just part of what they do. Pretty much any animal will do that if you have a remedy I have two 10 year old boys that just fart at will and laugh. There are times I would like for that not to be a possibility.

With regard to fossil fuels...The marvelous thing about our use of fossil fuels as well as other industries that rely on natural resources....it encourages innovation. As we move forward it is just nonsense to think we can just stop using the energy sources that our homes, transportation etc are dependent upon without a reasonable transition. Give our economy and human resources we cannot even conceive of a massive immediate change. Cutting off our current energy resources to create a premature start on technologies that are not even developed is not the way forward in a sane and reasonable society.

Mike, you might just ask yourself what international experience Obama had during the campaign? Palin makes some sound points, a government run on theories that have not been successful anywhere in the world is bound to fail. The G-20 just rejected Obama's theory that you can spend your way out of debt without having any production. The VP announced that 8 million jobs were lost in the private sector and won't be coming back and that this administration has no clue how to generate job one in the private sector.

Polls mean NOTHING since they are taken from such a minute portion of the population (less than 0.000005%) and the questions are always worded to skew the results in the direction the pollsters desire. Have you ever questioned HOW they "randomly" select their respondents? How they develop their questions AND ask them? Can I asked you something? If President Obama is facing impeachment proceedings, why did President Bush not face the same thing for lying to the people of the United States about WMD, or about illegally entering a war, or almost bringing this country to financial ruin. What about his father, Bush senior, why didn't he face not only impeachment proceeding but criminal charges for the thousands of innocent men, women and children who were killed during an illegal invasion of Panama in Dec of 1989?
