I HOPE someone gets fired! And to think the DMV thought it was funny? REALLY? Wouldn't be so funny had it happened to one of them. What really ticks me off is they wanted the Lady to pay for a new one. The person who willfully and intentionally put profanity on the driver's license is ignorantand undoubtly has other emotional problems. SAD. There are plenty of people today who would like to have his/her job and would deserve it. When they find out who did it, they should publicly apologize.
And to think this is from the very group that wants to monitor our every move. Be it in the airports, in the buildings and on the streets. It looks like its the government that needs monitored...
yeah, @!$%# all those teachers, firefighters, police officers, soldiers, highway maintenance workers, inspectors and judges! what have they ever done for society?
if your going to say polititians and bureaucrats do nothing say that...but again, thats an ignorant statement. But goverment employees cover a wide range of different people, who definatly are important and hard working people in the most. Don't forget that about 15% of all people employed are goverment workers in some way.
Don't forget that about 15% of all people employed are goverment workers in some way
Do you understand that that's not a good thing?
That's a third-world country thing, where the government has to employ so many people because a) big brother is out of control and b) there are not enough legitimate jobs -- you know, the kind of jobs that increase GDP and lead to real prosperity?
Huh? The police and the judges have done such a good job that we have more people in jail than the Soviet Union. Yet, if you call the police station you get a recording that says the voice mailbox is full. They don't answer the phone and don't even listen to the messages, you can't even leave a message? Every city in California and the entire state of California is essentially bankrupt because of pensions to firefighters and school teachers. The kids can just barely pass any standardized test without the tests being made easier each year. The roads are in California are not much better than black colored gravel.
Every large unionized company in the US either went bankrupt, or was forced to move offshore. This is because unions in general make businesses uncompetitive. The largest unions are now the public employees unions. The unions are the only voting block, so they elect the politicians. The politicians pass more laws requiring more rules, more regulations, more forms, and more enforcement. So in order to keep "their company's" growth going, our county's growth is strangled along with personal freedoms. You need a government permission to do anything but change a lightbulb. Because they are a monopoly and because the people they elected have made it a law, you will stand in line or on hold for as long as they find it convenient (your time is worth nothing) to pay whatever fee is necessary to pay the people staffing the facility where they give you permission. Any idea why we are not competitive?
This doesn't have anything to do with government workers or education or pensions or any of that. This has to do with some yahoo slacker who thought it would be funny to mess with someone's driver's license. There are slackers everywhere in the private sector as well as government workers. I mean haven't you been watching reality tv?
@ Janein this?world; There's a BIG difference. In the private sector you can be FIRED. Like the White House worker said to the first lady; "Presidents come, Presidents go. We'll still be here."
The current Administration has spent every part of the 'Stimulus money' on creating/keeping Union jobs. AIG was saved because it saved the pension funds of unions and Gov. workers while Merril Lynch was spit on and killed. Construction money for schools, roads, etc. are all regulated to go to union contractors. They are the ones that raise our taxes and the cost of American goods, then Complain of out-sourcing all the while shoping at WalMart and buying Hondas. Read any union publication and every issue, every page, cries out how "overworked and underpaid" they are while being under appreciated and put upon.
That's the difference. Business is in business to stay in business, the Gov. is in the welfare business.
So government is in the welfare business, eh? OK, let me ask you then, do you know there's a government subsidy for cattle ranchers with the only purpose to keep the price of hamburgers down?
Without this subsidy it's estimated a burger would end up costing somewhere between $12 and $15.
Don't tell me you rather starve people than put our tax money to good use to help everyone get a nice juice burger.
How do you know the truth of anything we read on these blogs? I think we're just addicted to the adrenaline that some of these weird comments cause. I sure wouldn't quote any of these blogs for a "research paper"! lol
It's the blurred out portion above Englewood. Her street address. Anyway, they shouldn't have shown the entire license. I think they should have blurred out everything but "Eat Ass." They type it out in the article, why blur it on the license?
Prank or mistake?... We all know government doesn't 'prank around' or ever make a mistake.. I wouldn't have said anything - They sent it, I'd keep it!.. You could have soooo much fun with this! A conversation piece? Bar bets? And the list goes on.. If you want to raise a bit of a ruckus, contact the Mayor of your hometown!...
Very Funny indeed. It just goees to show everyone that you can't trust typos or computers. I'm glad she took this insult in stride. Cyber terrorism at it's best.
Nice they show her name and dob for the entire world in the picture of her drivers license. She is obviously braver than me with all the id theft these days.
I would expect some eat ass comments to follow and I am surprised I haven't seen them yet. Shouldn't be long I guess.
Talk about cyber terrorism... It's not bad enough that she had to deal with the DMV but then MSNBC goes ahead and prints practically her entire license. Whether anyone can do something with the visible information or not, it clearly fits the definition of Personally Identifiable Information and for MSNBC to print that is just plain negligent.
Marge...you're an idiot. It is not terrorism to show a partial picture of someone's license when the news story is about the license. In fact, it's not terrorism to show a partial picture of a license at all.
It sounds like either you just read the first few words of my post and then stopped there or you have not seen the same version of the article as everyone else seems to have seen. It's NOT just a picture of her face on the license but a picture of practically the entire license which includes quite a bit of Personally Identifiable Info (PII).
I agree that showing a drivers license in a piece about drivers licenses makes sense. What I don't agree with is MSNBC's decision not to blur out the PII. Honestly, what value is it to the story for us to know her full name, birthdate, city, height, signature, etc.? That's PII by any definition and perhaps it's not something you're familiar with, but I guarantee you that any large corporation, especially one that is in the business of publishing, knows what it is.
Maybe MSNBC's data privacy policy says that they will publish whatever comes across their desk, regardless of whether it adds to the story or creates a privacy issue. If that's the case all I have to say is thank god it wasn't the social security administration or a credit card company that wrote something stupid on her ss or credit card, otherwise we'd have her ss or credit card number as well. It sounds as though you don't think that would be a problem, as long as the story is about a ss or credit card.
Obviously someone inside the DMV made a prank. I remember working in the supermarket and I wrote "eat me" inside a jar of peanut butter, and put it back on the shelf. Why is it today, we get offended and "demand answers". It was just a prank, no one got hurt. I do think that a reasonable discussion with the manager at the DMV might have resulted in a new license without a charge and a few laughs as well. No, not today. We have to be offended and demand answers, and expect everyone around us sees the same seriousness of the hilarious matter. Also, I think being stopped by the police, would more often than not get you out of a ticket. That license is priceless in that regard.
I would be more inclined to think that it was not a prank and that it was a mistake. IMO I would say that it was a simple mistake and could have been easily rectified by the DMV if she would have brought it in and showed it to them. The stupidity of this story is that the DMV would actually try to re-charge her for the new license.
Then after everything was done and over with - I'd hang on to that thing because it would be fun to show it off.
My Thought2... There is no way that it could be a mistake. Where would those words be in the system to be autimatically enytered? How could a person type those words in an address field by accident, then not notice they did it? Then you have the audacity to blame the girl for wanting to show it off?
Frankly a government worker should be held to a standard greater than any and all non-gov't workers because they work for US and they should do their best to be as close to perfect as is humanly possible. Do their job as best as can be done. If it was a prank for pranks sake. Then find the idiot who did it and fire them.
Richard - I'm not blaming anyone for wanting to show it off. I said that I would keep the card myself because it would be something fun to show around just because of the craziness of the situation. - I didn't imply that the girl was doing this.
I really can't provide an answer to you as to why it would be a mistake, but I've seen crazier things done before and believe that it is possible to have made a mistake.
I do agree with you that a government worker should be held to a higher standard for the very reasons that you indicate and I think that whoever is responsible for this should have consequences IF this was indeed a prank.
Sure we can fix that for you...That'll be another $48. Are you kidding me? Yes, obviously our office made a mistake but we want you to pay for it. And you have a nice day!
This was very unprofessional behavior by a very immature person. In addition, I hope that msn was professional enough to alter this person's personal information before giving it to the world to steal!
My brother went to a "satellite" DMV office, (conducted at our local courthouse because of our very rural area, S. TX). He wanted to ask about his status as an organ donor. The worker looked up his info and told him his license had been suspended and demanded the license from him, with no other explaination. Quite stunned he relinquished his license. He could think of no reason for this suspension.
Over the ensuing 3 years, he tried to find out what had happened. The DMV kept saying they had no record of his suspension and that he should fill out more paperwork and pay to have his license reinstated. What? Anyway, several months ago, he received his DL renewal form the DMV in the mail. What? He immediately called the number on the letter and was told that his license had never been under suspension, that it had always been valid. What?
He explained his situation AGAIN, and was told that there was no record of his license being relinquished and they did not know who had taken it. They tried to say there was no way to find out who the culprit was, although there was only one person working in our town at that time.
Now, if he were a man of means, he would have hired a lawyer and demanded a monetary settlement for all of the inconvenience this episode caused him. He could not work, he could not help transport our father to dialysis, he could not even run simple errands, all due to some B**ch who did not know what her job was, and didn't even follow up on the job she thought she was doing.
Wow, I am sure it was a nightmare for your father, not to metion a feeling of hopelessness that came with it! I think there is a theme here with rural, Courthouse, DMV's. The one in Woodbine GA is horrible! Talk about rude, inconsiderate, and incompetent state employees! Wow, they have the market on all three. The employees have been reported so many times and they are still there. They treat the military members terrible and their spouses. The trip from St. Marys Ga to Woodbine is no quick trip. They have sent many people away 3-4 times because of the incorrect information that they, themselves, give out. That amounts to dereliction of duty to me and stealing pay that isn't earned, from the very tax payers who are paying their salary. Talk about adding insult to injury! Why don't they just slap our faces when we walk through the door and get it over with?!
If the Government employees would actually DO the work they were hired to do it would take a lot less of them. But, they go slow and call it job security. GDF Union rules. Fat, lazy Americans, that is what we have become.
Linberger! your first mistake was to say "you trust these people because they work for the government". I never trust them from the experiences I have endured over a quarter of a century dealing with them. My last encounter was when I went to the DMV to pick up licence tag for two of my vehicles, only to discover that one was for a truck, which I do not own. When I called them, they asked me to drive back to their office for the correct tags. However, they did not ask for more money since they knew that I was discusted with them, but I did have to wait in line again. So courteous!!!
Yet another reason why we need to pare down our government, especially government workers. They get this terrible idea they are superior to us non-governmental people, which leads to the indifference we all experience at most government agencies. Frankly if some person within the DMV there has time to do this, maybe the DMV has to trim some jobs immediately to make sure the employees are too busy to be this... rude (thats a nice way of saying it).
My God, this is pricless! Where is your sense of humor. I sincerely hope the person that did this gets away with it. Nobody was hurt! It was humor; tasteless or not; it was, and IS humor. Somebody beat the system and hopefull is never found. Nobody but a tightassed freak would object to this. Look at it this way, a different body part could have been named; and that would still have been humor. Good for this gal and her sense of humor because she plans on keeping it.
This woman had to go through a process that is, by its very nature, inconvenient and a pain in the butt even when its necessary and done correctly the first time. Some things are just not that funny. Some things are just stupid and annoying. There are a lot of people who don't know the difference. Most of them are about 12 or 13 years old, but, apparently, some of them work at the DMV.
Well, well, when it happens to you ... and now it will, but in a different manner, remember to laugh, it was just a joke, you won't want to lose your sense of humor, or any time off or money missed from work, or use gasoline you might not have. Wait a minute ... you are one of them aren't you? Yep, you are a government worker! lol
Someone at the DMV's going to get fired...
I HOPE someone gets fired! And to think the DMV thought it was funny? REALLY? Wouldn't be so funny had it happened to one of them. You'd think! But nowadays they'll probably get a raise for being brazen!
someone at MSN should be fired for leaving sensitive information (Date of birth, etc.) on this license... ID thieves... HERE IT IS!
Those poor people don't know where Eat Ass Florida is? It's suburb of Dumb Ass!
What an aweful, aweful thing to happen to this poor girl. On the other hand, I sure wouldn't mind eating her ***!
Government Worker - now there is an oxymoron!
yeah, @!$%# all those teachers, firefighters, police officers, soldiers, highway maintenance workers, inspectors and judges! what have they ever done for society?
I am sure he/she was referring to government BUREAUCRATS, and I am pretty sure you knew what they meant also.
if your going to say polititians and bureaucrats do nothing say that...but again, thats an ignorant statement. Affirmative Action in action.
Glad you had the nerve to say it ... I was thinking it!
How exactly does that apply here?
DMV employees: Most miserable bunch of people ever.
OK, so the story goes, but the photo in the story shows her city and state as Englewood, FL. so how do we know this isn't made up?
How do you know the truth of anything we read on these blogs? I think we're just addicted to the adrenaline that some of these weird comments cause. I sure wouldn't quote any of these blogs for a "research paper"! lol

Speaking from experience Floridas DMVs are horrid! The employees there are even worse! The photo is probably the new correct one she got?
Prank or mistake?... We all know government doesn't 'prank around' or ever make a mistake.. I wouldn't have said anything - They sent it, I'd keep it!.. You could have soooo much fun with this! This wasn't a typo or a computer error. This was human error. Plain and simple.
it wasn't human error it was intentional!
DMV: "We dont know how this could have possibly happened. Now give us some more money to fix it."
DMV = Total Jag-Offs
I dont know how the DMV can say it cant be explained. It is obvious that one of their employees messed with it. Mysterious case solved.
Nice they show her name and dob for the entire world in the picture of her drivers license. She is obviously braver than me with all the id theft these days.
I would expect some eat ass comments to follow and I am surprised I haven't seen them yet. Shouldn't be long I guess.
Not to mention now they know what her signature looks like...stupid
They should have blurred out the important stuff and showed us the part where it actually said EAT ASS...
I was kinda surprised they didn't show her Socail Security Number!
You're right!! They'll have her info signed, sealed, and sold to an "illegal" in Arizona before the day's end!
I dont think SS # 'S are on the license

Writing a joke on a peanut butter jar in the supper market is slightly different than on your drivers license issued by the state in which you reside.
Although it might be a little humorous in either case a peanut butter thing is anonymous while a drivers license is a bit more personal and specific.
You are stupid.
I would be more inclined to think that it was not a prank and that it was a mistake. People amaze me. It's always just a joke or a prank until it happens to you. Specifically speaking to drill baby drill. Oh the mentality.
My brother went to a "satellite" DMV office, (conducted at our local courthouse because of our very rural area, S. TX). He wanted to ask about his status as an organ donor. That's because inmates do all this work, why do you think identity thief is so high? Most states use convicts for this kind of stuff.
My God, this is pricless! Where is your sense of humor. I sincerely hope the person that did this gets away with it. Nobody was hurt! It was humor; tasteless or not; it was, and IS humor. I love that they blur out the eat ass in the picture of the license and then write it in caps in the article.
Murf-did someone let you out of your room at the mental hospital or did you wander off? I notice you aren't taking your meds.
I use facts, and a reasonable arguement. Your responce is to make half assed accusations of mental instability? really, strong point.
So if my statment was so hairbrained, explain how our society goes forward without these people.
Typical state bulls hit. They phuk up and they want you to pay for it. Go figure. Florida sucks anyway.
LMAO - I don't think I would have even reported this to the DMV. I would be damned proud to be from Eat Ass, Florida.
No kidding! I'd love to be from Eat Ass instead of Pensacola =)
What's wrong with being from Peniscola?
LOL....good point.
