It is unbelievable that Governor Chris Gregoire has stated that the Attorney Generals lawsuit challenging the MANDATED UNIVERSAL SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE REFORM legislation's constitutionality is "FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES".

Governor.....you said the AG does not represent "YOU", well I voted for YOU and now regret it. You certainly do not work for ALL THE CITIZENS OF WASHINGTON STATE by your statements. The AG has a job to do, and you have a job to do. FIX THE DEFICIT IN WASHINGTON STATE AND LET THE AG DO HIS JOB.

It further amazes me that people have signed a petition in favor of the Governors stance to try and block the Attorney Generals duty.

THE LAWSUIT IS NOT ABOUT HEALTH CARE, IT IS ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT FORCING INDIVIDUALS TO PURCHASE A HEALTH CARE INSURANCE PLAN OR BE FINED, WHICH IS DEEMED UNCONSTITUTIONAL BY MANY FOLKS, THUS THE REASON OTHER STATES ATTORNEY GENERALS ARE FILING SIMILIAR LAWSUITS.

I am certain that this challenge will wind up in the Supreme Court for a final determination.

So, it the Government is allowed to do this, WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT LIBERTY TAKEN FROM THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES, or do the Progressives really care about our liberties and the Constitution ??

Maybe it would work if all the people who are against health care could sign a waiver. They would not have to pay anything. In agreement they would agree never to expect anything out of the plan. Ever. If they have health care they could keep it. If they lose their jobs then they are on their own. If they need major surgery or hospitalization they would have to prove that they have adequate funds to pay for whatever care they might need. Then and only then would they be admitted. It would have to cover every expense up front and if their own funds ran out they would be out. They could deliver their own babies at home. They could mend their own broken bones. They would have to diagnose and make their own sick children well. They chose to not accept help because they chose not to have health care. Simple as can be, and it would save the rest of us who wanted and waited so long for the healthcare bill to pass, a lot of money. I will even start a petition for all of you who are worried about your LIBERTY. Then you are on your own.

Then tell me "Ido" why is it that only Republican attorneys general are suing the federal government. And if you have read the law you would know that our liberties are not being taken away, they are being preserved. Currently we pay for uninsured medical treatment through our tax dollars, much of it in overcrowded ERs full of people with flu and common cold because they don't have insurance and can't afford to go to a doctor. And to the pregnant Katrina Whittle who is insured through her husband's work, she already has insurance and would not be required to purchase her own policy. What makes her think they will be required to do any more than what they are already doing, except maybe experience a drop in their premiums due to competition. And I don't know who all these people are who cry that they will be FORCED to purchase insurance. I worked all my life and where I worked required that I participate in the health and dental insurance program. When I first started, the premiums were paid in full. By the time I retired I was paying over $100 per month for my insurance but I was still required to participate in the program. Most companies still require employees to participate in their insurance programs and your only choice is which plan to choose. Too many people in this country have bought into the rhetoric spewed by the insurance industry and the Rush Limbaughs and too few have taken the time to look into the facts of this health care reform. And maybe, just maybe, the "progressives" are the ones who realize the baby boomers are about to hit Medicare.....

Actually, I like Sharon's plan the best. All you naysayers can just sign a waiver then when you find yourself without any medical care at all, maybe you will understand this country's need for health care reform.

If you are really going to allow our Government to MANDATE you paying a fine if you do not obtain a Health Insurance Policy according to "their" standards, then you may want to see a doctor now.

What makes you think 30 million deadbeats are being added to the healthcare system? Are you so ignorant that you don't know there are millions of people that work hard and have jobs but small businesses can't afford to give their employees health benefits because of the greedy insurance companies and their high cost of premiums? Are you so wealthy or secure in your job or perhaps already receiving Medicare or Veterans benefits that you have no fears that you will ever lose your own health insurance?

And why aren't you protesting the health insurance industry who are really the people that have been in control of everyone's lives and are the true a-holes in this story.

I am surprised that the State of Washington has so many uninformed people. I guess geography is no immunization to backwardness and stupidity.

Regardless if this is politically motivated or not, the United States government is attempting to force many citizens to purchase products and services from private companies. It is akin to the government forcing you to purchase a Toyota, for example, because they have annointed it the best car for the environment. Sure it may be beneficial, but that doesn't mean that it is within the government's constitutional power to force you to buy one. The ONLY way they would be able to do that is if they collected a tax specifically for that purpose and built the cars themselves. Then it wouldn't be a PRIVATE company providing the services. Even if HCR is a positive thing, the perceived benefits of any legislation doesn't mean they can ignore the constitution to implement it.

"Hundreds"? Really? "Hundreds"? Ooooh! McKenna's going to need more than that to win the Governor's office in this State. We're not in Red Neck, South Carolina, and the RepubliCants didn't win the last national election, nor can they seem to get enough votes to break promise after promise that "National Health Care will never happen"!
