This is the same type of acceleration of crime that occurred during Prohibition.
A few years ago Mexico tried to legalize drugs and the U.S. threw a fit. Mexico needs to do what is best for their Country and legalize drugs to stop the violence.
It will push all the violence into the States, but that's our fault for wasting time and money trying to control our citizenry with the war on drugs propaganda.
To keep America safe we need to start shooting illegals crossing our borders with Mexico, before we have the same thing happening here. We also need to start removing all illegals in America. It has been done several times in the past. We don't need them and they are all criminals for coming here illegally.
When Will We Ever Learn? - If Not Now , When? - If Not Us Who?
When will it finally come to pass that we legalize and regulate drug use? This macabre underworld and the murder and wrecked lives that fuels the official government and private profiteering of the “drug war’ is a nightmare the American people can only take for so long. But, who will change the system? The American people have no say in this matter, we only have too provide the money (billions) to keep the profiteers in business.
Our society is marred by the big business of fighting drug use, like holding back a tsunami with wooden two by fours, a futile attempt at the impossible. The billion, should we not say multi-billion cost of fighting drug use and trafficking is over half a century old now and the problem of use and interception is worse for the billions and billions poured into this vain effort. It has become big business for the construction business, incarceration business, union labor, federal dollars in oversight, federal and state court system, judges and lawyers get rich and down the line we go, a giant taxpayer money rat hole.
When will we ever learn? Do the numbers and see how drug use is legalized in other countries, fix the short comings and turn the 50 billion a year drug use into a federal and state medically regulated department of government. Like other countries do. The money will pay for our national health care plan and help to reduce the national debt. Help fund Social Security and bolster our national defense forces.
Anyone that says we cannot produce these drugs; like weed, coke, meth, heroin and methadone cheap enough to cut the legs from under the drug cartels and domestic drug producers is mentally unfit to deal with this problem and out of touch with reality and the facts. Check out the facts of what it would cost to produce and set up a distribution system and drug rehab for those that want to get off and compare that to the money and lives lost with the current cost of the system we now use to “combat” drug use.
What is it that keeps the failed current system going? Because some big wig says it won’t work does not make it so. Those that say we cannot do it are coming from a moral perspective not an economical position or are the two intertwined. It is not practical, hogwash.
Saying it is failing in other countries is a lie. If a legalized program is not perfectly working elsewhere it does preclude it from working here in our country. Fix the problems and make the system work. Rehab and education is paramount to any legalized system, of the utmost importance.
America cannot afford this taxpayer rip off any longer, when will the people wake up? The bought and sold government has no interest in losing the lobbyist money donated to them to keep the status quo, so don’t expect them to do the right thing.
California just might go along way to fixing it’s bankrupt economy, if the drug preventions profiteers don’t get in the way, which they will probably do. While realizing Billions into the government coffers monies the violence, slaughter and corruption of government agencies will be eliminated. The argument that legalization will only make matters worse, more drug users, is a canard (lie). Is it really societies problem if people want to use drugs? Is it really, at great, great cost, societies duty to incarcerate victim less crimes?
This perspective from an architect, a professional, as to where this is all going, from the article;
"You wonder how this will end, and it seems impossible," said Daniel Vega, an architect in the northern city of Monterrey. "I doubt Mexico can override drug use, especially since demand for the drugs, as well as all the money and weapons, come from the United States.". An astute observation that the demand from the improvised neighbor to the north will fuel this nightmare seemingly forever. There is just too much money and this "war on drugs" must go on. After all to many people, American professionals in this war they(livelihoods) depend on this war to sustain their life styles and the pay is damn good (read taxpayer money), pension and great benefits the epitome of "Shock Economics". A crisis is created or sustained and the profiteers suck the blood money from he American taxpayer to "fix" said problem (crisis). The crisis must continue there is just to much money involved. The judges, federal and state attorneys, prison maintenance the whole DEA, my God where would they find jobs with this level of pay?
There is too much money from the very top, the drug czar, to the foot soldier. Can you imagine if these people had to get a real job? This can never be allowed to happen, to much money in the courts and prison system alone. No way the war must go on and on and on. Lets look at the cold, like deadly cold statistics, from the article:
"Using their so-called Narcobarometer, researchers at the University of San Diego's Trans-Border Institute track and analyze murders in Mexico, hoping to find ways to quell the violence. Their tally? More than 20,000 murders since 2001, more than half in the past two years." Nature abhors a vacuum and how many "drug lords" have the American people seen toppled over the last thirty years? More than half of the 20,000 deaths in the last two years? The article does not mention all the missing women, girls, that have just vanished from the face of the earth, why? Are we in some way complicit in this sex slave trade? I mean our "war on drugs" is fueling this nightmare? No? Maybe there is a better way to deal with the demand right here in our own country?
Should we instead direct our efforts at the dangers and mindlessness of drug use starting with the first graders all the way to k12? Have are cultural hero’s from the entertainment, sports, arts and other national icons go on our national media and visit our national schools to warn and educate our young? But, doing so would deprive those that get rich ‘fighting” drug use. When will we ever learn? If not now when? If not us who? When will we ever learn?
Mexicans are not indigenous to the United States. Not even close. And no, not in California. Native Americans were there more than 13,000 years ago, long before Mexico or Spain arrived to begin the process of displacing them.
The same is of the United states, My ancestry is mixed with Native America. The United States has done as all other cultures has done in the Americas, (Also no culture is native to the Americas). We have set up our boundrys and created a country. We have a right to protect our boundrys. Why is it only the US does not have the right to protect its bourders, If you do not understand this question the go to one of the southern countrys illegally(or legally) and you will se what I am talking about. I have Visited most of them. I am currently in Honduras, (legally) What rights. I am here helping their country an a criminal has more rights then I. The United States is our country, we have the rights to protect it, and send the illegals,(or legals) back to their country as needed. AND NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT. I DON"T. (have a good day ya'll)
1 deleted, mommamarrs derailing about immigration and calling Mexicans 'animals'. Don't post like a racist and write your own article about immigration. You're suspended for a day for violating #4 and #5 of the Code of Honor.
Once again the fine crew at newsvine on top of it eh?? I think we should cut off the borders, and let the goverment in Mexico do thier job. Why should we let thier criminals in our country to live off of our system that we pay taxes on?? That's whats happening like it or not.
LU; I think you are on the right track. Control of our citizenry is probably the real reason a commodity so in demand is illegal. Control of citizenry is what most governments want, isn't it? The people who vote against legalizing are playing right into government hands and giving them this control. The state where I live voted to legalize medical marijuana ten years ago but, the entrenpeneurs who want to open shop are still not allowed because of all the "control" issues that the city council, sherrif's dept and police force keep putting out. One of the most ridiculous is the rule that a dispensary is limited to only five patients. The income from five patients would not even cover overhead. This is a sneaky way to keep "control" even after the majority voted for something else.
We maybe capitalists, but the marketplace is far from free. As is evident, the government controls everything. That is a dictatorship.
These is no business clause in the constitution: "The government shall control business..." The contact clause actually applies it cannot interfere. The plethora of biz regs are bogus extensions to suit the purposes of government, not the people.
Mexico's leaders never have taken much interest in the infrastructure and their communities. The US has pumped a lot of money in them to try and help out. All its done is cause the people to move out. Bad government.
We should anex Baja into the united states for all we've done to help them out.
Perhaps we should stop throwing stones at the "immorality" of Mexico and look at the insatiable appetite of drugs from our own country that feeds this chaos. It appears our southern neighbor has learned our murderous ways.
Bravo! Legalize the high demand commodity and put the countries at peace while the pheasants go to work in a growth industry. And, save billions in wasted tax dollars. Exactly!
Bravo! Legalize the high demand commodity and put the countries at peace while the pheasants go to work in a growth industry. And, save billions in wasted tax dollars. Exactly!
What kinds of work do pheasants do? Are they eligible for welfare benefits?
Maybe if the liberals would allow us. When a drug dealer gets caught. Live in jail without parole at hard labor or even better the death sentence, for this dealer more than certain killed people and destoyed families by selling these drugs. Death to Dealers
FatCat, I don't know about you, but I read that the Mexican government is blaming the United States for its crime wave. It was stated that all the money and guns are coming from the United States. Along with meth production, it would appear the fastest growing industry in America is gun-running.
Give them back their citizens who are here illegally, let them help us close the border, we'll stay on our side and let them stay on theirs. Canada does it, but then they take responsibility for their own citizens and government.
Cry racist all you want, but over the years, with the advent of millions of illegal Mexican immigrants, coupled with the KGB folks we allowed on our shores as "political refugees", the level of gang related violence has risen to horrifying heights. The Italian Mafia scared us with the killing they were willing to do to maintain their territories. The Hispanic and Russian gangs don't only murder, they terrify and intimidate with mutilation and other atrocities that sicken us.
Yep, since all Mexico's crimes are our fault, guess we'll have to send in a peacekeeping force to assist the government in cleaning up its towns, then we'll have to give them billions in aid to build up the infrastructure to maintain the government we helped keep in power............and the beat goes on.
It is sad to see this going on in Mexico. I think they are at a crossroads with the potential of becoming a failed state. A failed stat on our Southern boarder would not be in our interest. We need to aid the Mexican government in their stabilization efforts. Only by helping Mexico develop will we stem the violence that is taking place there now and possibly reduce the flow of people Northward.
Yeah, we tried that in Iraq, and it isn't working out too well.
Mexico doesn't want our help. They want our money, and evidentally our land, since we have an invading army of over 20 million illegals here waving their Mexican flag, refusing to learn English and insisting that southern border states we declared property of Mexico.
What you said!!!!! How much has it cost the taxpayers to have every single piece of paper in this country printed with English on one side and Spanish on the other? Federal, State and local governments are printing everything from traffic signs to 'how to' instructions for applying for free services in Spanish. Every product from food to toothpicks are described in both languages, and we've paid for it in higher prices for the convenience to people who won't even try to learn the language of the country they are invading.
I don't remember school districts having to hire teachers who speak German, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Yiddish, French, etc. in order to teach the ethnic individuals in their classrooms.
I married a Mexican girl, her grandparents were migrant farm workers and they came to this country legally. After 33 years of marriage I still do not speak Spanish. Although I do know the most important phrase in the language......Mas Cerveza Por for For!!
You have confused them with the Romans, Christians, Cheks, Russians, Germans... to name a few. Then there was that nasty thing with the Native Americans quietly spread over a hundred years.
Yes, we're aware of and acknowledge the horrible things done to the Native Americans. I'm very aware, as it's part of my own ancestral past. Both my Grandfather and my Great Grandmother were Native American, Cherokee and Lakota Sioux respectively. So your point is........?????????
Tell me again why, or should I say HOW, we allow this degenerate scum into our country? For every ONE of them that crosses the border with only good intentions, we also get 5 scum of the earth.
Mexico is moving toward some form of totalitarianism because the system has never been fixed and there is no honest politician who can count on honest staff members and be supported by serious-minded citizens to do the job right.
Study Mexico closely and you will see how the rest of Latin America and other parts of the Third World became nasty dictatorships. We still have a current one, Cuba and a coming one, Venezuela who are worthy of study..
But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground, and it will burn and not be quenched.
REVELATION 22:20-21
.....Yes, I am coming soon. "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.
And what good or comfort do these scriptures do the people who are being killed and tortured today, right now? As you type those words, are you in the middle of a war zone or hiding under your bed so you won't get hit by drive-by bullets?
The promise of eternal reward in the misty future eternity isn't much comfort when your family is hungry and homeless today.
The promise of eternal reward is comforting if you have the faith of a mustard seed. Are you a believer in the All Mighty God? Do you sow seeds to help the hungry and homeless? Or do you just sit back, shake your head, and do nothing? There are a lot of honest organization and ministries who would welcome you.
GALATIANS 6:7-10
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
I read the article and wonder how much of it is true. I do know that hand grenades, machine guns, explosives as well as small arms, knives, machetes, handguns baseball bats and pipes have been used. The Mexican government however has contacted ATF on the origin of only a small amount of these weapons. Most of the weapons just like the ones used in El Salvador years ago had no U.S. origin, rather China and Russia were the countries of origin. Moving forward, legalizing the drugs, well our country is full of special homes with people who cannot dress themselves, eat unless told to, or go to the bathroom without an aide due to use of street drugs. There minds are gone. Many are very young people, some of there parents represent us in Congress. Further drug use was not always regulated in the United States but was addressed due to the high number of deaths and mentally disabled, a tragedy that cannot be reversed. Finally the hispanics as a group have a huge appetite for the drugs, not just in Mexico, but throughout all of Central and South America. This demand is supported by many who have immigrated here both legally and illegally, it flourishes amongst our hispanic school teachers, and some of our elected hispanic representatives in Congress, there employees as well as appointed cabinet members and other members of government none of whom are drug tested other then those in the enforcement arm. The demand for the hispanics as a whole is due to addiction while other groups, it is recreational drug use which in many instances becomes addiction. The results of addiction and withdrawal are behavior modification, uncontrollable rage and murder are often manifested. Even pot, is grown with the help of pesticides that were banned in this country decades ago due to toxicity. The potency of pot is 20 times higher then that grown and used in the 60s and now causes harm physically and mentally leaving the user listless, unfocused, with no motivation and no long term memory.
Uh, CHRIS...you wrote: "...the hispanics as a group have a huge appetite for the drugs". Question - are you RACIST? Before you answer, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to find statistics ANYWHERE stating that Hispanics have a higher appetite for drugs than any other race or culture.
Ive been to Mexico City to visit..This was 30 years ago.Alot has really changed.
The Killing the gun fire the DrugCartels are Very mean.Besides the Taliban are working with these Killers.
They are from the areas more South. They want to control the Country, seriously! They dont care who the Hell they kill besides other means of torture.
Beaches of pure clean sands and the beautiful towns in thru areas of all the Country are being stolen from these death riders..As they are just preying on someone else to Rob & kidnap, besides all the other uncareing hurt..America has enough problems!
I don't understand the reasoning behind the war on drugs. In my mind it falls real close to the issue of gun control. Criminals don't care about gun control after all it doesn't apply to them. Criminals don't pay taxes it doesn't apply to them either. Maybe it's time to make them accountable. One way would be to legalize some of the products that people are getting killed for. They want to bring it over the border let them and make them pay the taxes on it. And if people want to smoke the product over here let them. And make them pay the taxes. When are we going to stop being the good Samaritan. wake up people and notice that we the average citizen is being stuck with all the taxes and have nothing to show for it. If your worried about the entire country doing dope well look around some are doing it. It doesn't mean that we have to start. It just means that we don't have to pay for them doing it anymore!
44 per day in 2008 with almost 3 times the population. Way higher rate in Mexico. Soon to be imported here. Close the border and boot all the illegals already here. Problem solved.
look back at 1991, we had 24700 murders that year. that is a average of almost 68 murders a day. yes our crime rate for murder has dropped over the years but we still have days with more than 69. this article was not about the average number of murders, it was about the number of them in 1 day and yes the us has had many days with more than 69.
we better start taking this seriously and shut our borders ! this is a real war , the us has to act before its too late !! stop sending the troop overseas , and protect our borders from these violent gangs..
This is the same type of acceleration of crime that occurred during Prohibition.
A few years ago Mexico tried to legalize drugs and the U.S. threw a fit. Mexico needs to do what is best for their Country and legalize drugs to stop the violence.

You are correct LU.
The violence in Mexico will pail in comparison to the fight that is brewing in America due to the similar corrupt nature of Washington politicians!
Which "us" and which "them" are you? Before you answer, remember Whites are not indigenous to the Americas... ancestors of Mexicans likely are.
To keep America safe we need to start shooting illegals crossing our borders with Mexico, before we have the same thing happening here. We also need to start removing all illegals in America. violent offenders should be locked up, but filling an already overburdened justice system with non-violent offenders gets you nowhere.

El período de inmigración para alemanes, rusos, polaco, japonés, Yídish, francés, etcétera era el exactitud prepolítico. Por eso.
Usted puede agradecer al gobierno federal por aquella estupidez.
Same to you.
I married a Mexican girl, her grandparents were migrant farm workers and they came to this country legally. After 33 years of marriage I still do not speak Spanish. Although I do know the most important phrase in the language......Mas Cerveza Por for For!!
Tenemos una politica en materia de inmagracion estupiida, los guardamos todos hacia fuera.
didn't the aztecs used to do this sort of thing
US political aspiration in 5/6?
The better question is why did we allow any in?
Mexico is moving toward some form of totalitarianism because the system has never been fixed and there is no honest politician who can count on honest staff members and be supported by serious-minded citizens to do the job right.
Study Mexico closely and you will see how the rest of Latin America and other parts of the Third World became nasty dictatorships. We still have a current one, Cuba and a coming one, Venezuela who are worthy of study..
Its a shame but hey, that's life.....
Hopefully the ones that have sense will get out of there and then let the rest of the gangs just kill each other. Save others the trouble.
Jer 7:19-20
Story means we will have 69 less illegals to deal with.
I think maybe the Sinaloa cartel is working with the police. Why else would they not be touched. Then I question why?
Better seal the border and pass the ammunition.
I thought we had more than 69 murders a day here in the us.
Probably 69 just in LA, Chicago, Miami and Detroit.
I was going to include Chicago as well.
we better start taking this seriously and shut our borders ! this is a real war , the us has to act before its too late !! stop sending the troop overseas , and protect our borders from these violent gangs..
mexico is going to suffer with tourism . americans used to love to go there .
