When Will We Ever Learn? - If Not Now , When? - If Not Us Who?

When will it finally come to pass that we legalize and regulate drug use? This macabre underworld and the murder and wrecked lives that fuels the official government and private profiteering of the “drug war’ is a nightmare the American people can only take for so long. But, who will change the system? The American people have no say in this matter, we only have too provide the money (billions) to keep the profiteers in business.

Our society is marred by the big business of fighting drug use, like holding back a tsunami with wooden two by fours, a futile attempt at the impossible. The billion, should we not say multi-billion cost of fighting drug use and trafficking is over half a century old now and the problem of use and interception is worse for the billions and billions poured into this vain effort. It has become big business for the construction business, incarceration business, union labor, federal dollars in oversight, federal and state court system, judges and lawyers get rich and down the line we go, a giant taxpayer money rat hole.

When will we ever learn? Do the numbers and see how drug use is legalized in other countries, fix the short comings and turn the 50 billion a year drug use into a federal and state medically regulated department of government. Like other countries do. The money will pay for our national health care plan and help to reduce the national debt. Help fund Social Security and bolster our national defense forces.

Anyone that says we cannot produce these drugs; like weed, coke, meth, heroin and methadone cheap enough to cut the legs from under the drug cartels and domestic drug producers is mentally unfit to deal with this problem and out of touch with reality and the facts. Check out the facts of what it would cost to produce and set up a distribution system and drug rehab for those that want to get off and compare that to the money and lives lost with the current cost of the system we now use to “combat” drug use.

What is it that keeps the failed current system going? Because some big wig says it won’t work does not make it so. Those that say we cannot do it are coming from a moral perspective not an economical position or are the two intertwined. It is not practical, hogwash.

Saying it is failing in other countries is a lie. If a legalized program is not perfectly working elsewhere it does preclude it from working here in our country. Fix the problems and make the system work. Rehab and education is paramount to any legalized system, of the utmost importance.

America cannot afford this taxpayer rip off any longer, when will the people wake up? The bought and sold government has no interest in losing the lobbyist money donated to them to keep the status quo, so don’t expect them to do the right thing.

California just might go along way to fixing it’s bankrupt economy, if the drug preventions profiteers don’t get in the way, which they will probably do. While realizing Billions into the government coffers monies the violence, slaughter and corruption of government agencies will be eliminated. The argument that legalization will only make matters worse, more drug users, is a canard (lie). Is it really societies problem if people want to use drugs? Is it really, at great, great cost, societies duty to incarcerate victim less crimes?

Should we instead direct our efforts at the dangers and mindlessness of drug use starting with the first graders all the way to k12? Have are cultural hero’s from the entertainment, sports, arts and other national icons go on our national media and visit our national schools to warn and educate our young? But, doing so would deprive those that get rich ‘fighting” drug use. When will we ever learn? If not now when? If not us who? When will we ever learn?

Mexicans are not indigenous to the United States. Not even close. And no, not in California. Native Americans were there more than 13,000 years ago, long before Mexico or Spain arrived to begin the process of displacing them.

What you said!!!!! How much has it cost the taxpayers to have every single piece of paper in this country printed with English on one side and Spanish on the other? Federal, State and local governments are printing everything from traffic signs to 'how to' instructions for applying for free services in Spanish. Every product from food to toothpicks are described in both languages, and we've paid for it in higher prices for the convenience to people who won't even try to learn the language of the country they are invading.

I don't remember school districts having to hire teachers who speak German, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Yiddish, French, etc. in order to teach the ethnic individuals in their classrooms.

look back at 1991, we had 24700 murders that year. that is a average of almost 68 murders a day. yes our crime rate for murder has dropped over the years but we still have days with more than 69. this article was not about the average number of murders, it was about the number of them in 1 day and yes the us has had many days with more than 69.
