States that lead the nation in executions are sentencing fewer inmates to death, a trend that slowly is reducing the death row population, a report from an anti-capital punishment group says.
Report: Death sentences on the decline

Texas is not a third-world 'country' but a 4th-world-country. More than half of the population are illtiterate, but have several automatic fire-arms, and a pair of bull-horn on the hood of their car :-). It is also known as the "moron capital of the world". There is a movement to have public executions with TV coverage for those who miss the "EVENT-of their life". A sad state.
What would you call I raq then? where a group of grown men can stone a 14 yr-old girl to death because she loves someone from a different religion. Or africa, where rape is a sport and albinos are chopped up and their body parts sold for black-magic spells?
You have already proven yourself to be a complete buffoon: No state in the union has more than 50% illiteracy and you obviously don't have a clue about the difference between a semi-automatic and an automatic weapon. It's insecure, spineless, self-righteous, pompous, blow-hards like you who have a need to say things to make themselves feel "special" or "progressive" that makes this country look like wimps to the rest of the world.
@LKedek you earn the fail comment of the day
oldcavscout - Why should he grow up? Did you not read the ridiculous comment left by the moron in the first post? I say a stupid post deserves a trolled response. K2000K PWNZ 2LKEDEK 8-P
Hey 2LKEDEK, you truly are strange. Im a Texan born and raised, most of my friends are the same, we can actually tie our own shoes, go to the toilet and make 1 and 2, I just finished Danny and the Dinosaur and had a snack without stabbing myself with the spoon this time....
....Really Citizen??
Texas may not be a metropolis like, Detroit and California, but this state is pulling through tough times better than most. You insult not only me, but the thousands of others that take pride in their home. 4th World Country, we don't have fly ridden children in the street begging for food, we don't have militias busting down doors and wiping out families. True our politics could use an overhaul in the ethics and morals dpt. , but I don't see Governor Perry issuing martial law or hunting down anyone that speaks out against him.
And did you know we actually have running water...amazing huh?
Damn Yankees! Southern man don't need him around anyhow! God Bless Texas!
Smoke 'em (murderers and child molesting murderers) if you got 'em. THE DEATH PENALTY. ZERO REPEAT OFFENDERS SINCE 1977!!!
Sounds like you have it in for Texas. I have lived their in the past and found it to be quite a nice place to live. As for as executions go, I personally would rather see more than less. Imporisonment is expensive and a burden to the tax payers. Many people on death row have a history of crime and our country could do without them.
You sound like a liberal from NY-MASS-CAL, Have you ever been to Texas, I am from NH, born and bred. I suppose you think that if there was not a .threat to people to be executed, Crime would go down.
Let me guessss you voted for obama and think he is doing a good job
More proof that this country is heading in the wrong direction.
I wouldn't call it the wrong direction. It would be nice if the numbers reflected the murder rate going down; hence there would be fewer people on death row. Anyone who is against the death penalty is pretty naive though. I remember a story about a couple who were kidnapped, both were raped right in front of each other, killed the male - burned his body afterword, continued to rape the woman for a few days, proceeded to dump bleach in her "areas" to erase DNA evidence, and then killed her. Yeah I think those dudes (and a female or two I believe) deserve to die. In fact, they deserve to die in the manner in witch they committed the crime, but that's my opinion. My biggest beef with pro-choice/ anti-death penalty liberals (I am pro-choice myself – to an extent); they support the execution of a baby up to the third trimester (which I’m whole heartedly against), but are all for letting convicted, or even admitted murders live the rest of their lives in peace, on our dime. That’s a little ass backwards.
your either Right or your Wrong, there is NO IN BETWEEN...for it is written; your either Hot or your Cold, for if you are Lukewarm, you will be spewed OUT.. take that to the Grave with you...have a wonderful day.......
I hope that comment wasn't meant for me Jeeesus. And if it was, may I remind you that we all have free will. I don't base my beliefs off my religion as I am not only a Christian, but I'm also an America who understands what liberty may mean to others. You chose to live your life according to the bible which is fine. But the moment you cast the proverbial stone is when you become a hypocrite. In fact, your post does more damage to the word of God then me stating my beliefs, and exercising my humanity. Why you didn’t even think about that before you posted astounds me. Take that to the grave with you...
Must be an expensive process to get someone to the needle eh? such is the price of 'an eye forn an eye'.
Well there is a more effective, cheaper, and in my opinion a more painless way to end a murder's life - .45 to the temple. It's messy, but at least the "convicted" would be put down quick. I don't see how the drug cocktail is a painless way to go. I remember a story about a death row inmate begging to have a bullet put through his head rather than go through the trial and error of lethal injection. They should have obliged him and saved thousands of dollars.
I like "Old Sparky" myself. BBZZZZZTTTT!! "Aaaeeehyeee!!!aaahh..." Nothing like a well done dirtbag murderer!! As my state may well prove later today by releasing two murderers (just in time for a Christmas crime spree!!) no one is safe if liberal judges and legislators decide that 35 years amounts to "life" in prison. "Howdy neighbor".
Well, I believe that a person should be executed in the same manor in which they killed their victim. I know it's draconic, but hey they chose to harm another person. I also believe that my method and your method are still too expensive. A bullet to the brain or even going back to the guillotine is much more cost effective, and for those who care - painless.
Personally i am against the death penalty no matter the circumstances.
I am a Christian so that impacts my decision but i still see it as a barbaric act and i no it makes sense in the manner of an eye for an eye but i just cant accept death as punishment. Maybe exile them, ive always wanted to see that as a punishment lol.
Il give a description of how the Bible impacts my opinion. I know a lot of the readers are not Christians but it doesnt hurt to read this story.
Most of you know of Jesus' interferance in the stoning of a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. According to the law she was suppose to be stoned to death. However Jesus' reply was that whoever who has no sin should cast the stone. However, no human has no sin, and so no stone should be thrown. Its pretty much just saying that you shouldnt act on judgement on others to the degree of killing. I mean you have to have a justice system to punish those who break the law, but the death penalty seems to be the wrong choice in my opinion, regardless of how barbaric the criminals acts.
Another story is the story of Saul. Saul killed many Christians however eventually become a Christian and a saint, and had his name changed to Paul. the point i make out here is that the death penalty can prevent an individual from changing their path of life.
My last point is a short one. Some innocent people may also be executed. im pretty sure there is a case of an individual being executed and then being found innocent. i cant remember the case but it came up on www.msn.com
Anyway these are just my opinions im up for debates but please dont hate.
Beings you are a Christian,I would like to know if you go by the Whole Bible or part of it( like a lot of other people)do? The 1st part requires that if you do a crime worthy of death then you get to meet your God! The 2nd parts says that yes you CAN be forgiven, but it doesn't say that society HAS to put it in the Sea of Forgetfulness just because God does! Remember the thief on the cross who said he EARNED his cross?Jesus, forgave him but the Roman's didn't! All Texas is doing is sending him to Jesus!
i go by the whole Bible however i am not perfect like everyone else so i have my own faults. You also have to take note that not all laws mentioned in the Old Testement (Moses' Laws) are needed after Jesus' reign on earth. Examples are circumcision, before Jesus was on earth circumcision was a must. Now however baptism has replaced that. (Although it has some physical benefits so is still common in use) and some cultures still require it (orthodox Jews still do it i THINK).
"The 1st part requires that if you do a crime worthy of death then you get to meet your God!"
Not if you go to Hell...
"The 2nd parts says that yes you CAN be forgiven, but it doesn't say that society HAS to put it in the Sea of Forgetfulness just because God does!"
My argument isnt about being forgiven its about stopping the death penalty. in this sence you make it seem that the only true punishment is death.
The case you are refering to involves the current smarmy sob guv of texass, perry, who is attempting to pack the board reviewing the execution of a man for a crime that NEVER EVEN HAPPENED.
IN 1994 Cameron Todd Willingham was accused of setting a fire which killed his three children and sentenced to death. Every single outside expert that has looked at the 'evidence' offered by the so-called forensics 'experts' of texass has concluded that their interpretation not only was scientifically invalid, but that their methodology, in the words of one outside expert, bordered on voodoo and witchcraft divination. The Texas Forensic Science Commission was given these reports, as well as that retard perry, and they choose to disregard them, in perry's case not even reading the reports.
In fact, after the 2004 execution of Willingham, the Texas Forensic Science Commission actually reinvestigated the case, hiring another group of experts who also found that there was NO EVIDENCE that the fire had been deliberately set and was in fact ACCIDENTAL. It was at this point that the retard perry tried to pack the commission to make sure that texass's judicial murder of a man who had NOT EVEN COMMITTED A CRIME would not be questioned or investigated.
And people still ask me why I think 99% of texasses are vicious retarded thugs who must get a great kick out killing things, and that the movie the texass chainsaw massacre is just a real-life documentary.
prisons have climate controlled ac/heat and cable tv's. do they have HDTV. if not that is cruel and unusual punishment.
since minorities make up the majority maybe the naacp could get involved.
If you killed an individual you need to hang, no lethal injection,no gas chamber, and no electric chair. There is an added benefit to hanging...the rope can be reused "recycling". With todays technology there shouldn't be any need for such long appeals prosesses...Does any one know how much it costs to keep someone in prison about $35000 a year for non death row or life in prison inmates and that cost has continued to go up over the last twenty years... Inmates have it better then a lot of the poor in this country... I think that there's something very wrong with that!!!!! Thank you American civil liberties union
At least you have your head screwed on straight. I think the Russians have the death penalty down to an art form. They simply put the prisoner in a special cell, let him take a shower, so they don't have to clean him later, give him clean clothes and tell him he has a visitor. Only one chair in the cell and when he sits down, he gets a .22 in the back of his head. Problem solved for a few rubles. It would be nice to see public executions re-instated, after watching a couple of hangings, maybe some of these future thugs would have something to think about. When all they see is guys hanging out in jail getting three hots and a cot, some cable tv and get to lift weights and play basketball all day, being on the inside is better than being at home. At least in jail Mama ain't on their ass about getting a job. And they don't have to pay any child support to they Baby Mommas.
Look.... just make it about money..... life without parole is much cheaper than a death penalty case and it's over and done with... not this 8 to 10 years of appeals....etc....
Life without parole costs almost three times as much as killing an inmate!!! what are you talking about?
Cheaper yet is immediate execution for those convicted.
Do you have any idea what you are talking about. Read the article, I knew 20 years ago the higher costs incurred to carry out a death sentence.
Here's a suggestion: Cases involving the death penalty should be applied to crimes of the most heinous nature (define those types of crime so there will be no debate). And, the evidence must be unimpeachable; not just circumstantial (multiple eyewitness accounts and/or DNA samples).
I think we should waterboard them, bring them back to life and do it again. Then waterboard the ACLU and every other Liberal Group in this country
My comment will cover it all.........death to anyone except in self defense is wrong,no matter how horrid their crime was because the one's who execute them r just as bad or worse cause they do it intentionally, and on top of that, how many on death row got freed cause of dna, thats 1 to many innocent lives,on top of those that were executed before dna that were innocent, there r alot who r quilty, but if just 1 who isn't is executed its not working, how can anyone live emotionally knowing they intentionally killed an innocent person it is barbaric
WTF. For all of these serial murderers, you would rather support them the rest of their life. I wish this country could distinguish this crap, and you liberal morons pay for this stupid @!$%# instead of the competent population of this country.
Oh and the main reason why prison doesn't work,is because if u r going to release them eventually, the issues that caused them to commit the crimes in the first place, have not be addressed plus the added stress of a criminal record even if a slight one, plus rules that add more stress when released,so just building blocks towards repeating, rehab ,mental clinics, with the pros, prison workers aren't qualified,so just a vicious circle, what would u expect under the current system
