I realize that this is grounds for ostracism by environmentalists, but perhaps we should slow down and do more research before blindly running off a cliff like lemmings with Cap & Trade.

Scientists have long known that climate trends are influenced by changes in solar activity (the 11 year solar cycle – actually a 22 year complete cycle) as well as certain long term perturbations as the Earth “wobbles” slightly as it spins on its axis.

Analysis of these cycles over long periods of time have caused many scientists to speculate that we should be entering a cooling phase on the Earth, and indeed, we have had a cooling trend over the last 10 years instead of the “doom and gloom” forecasts of environmentalists based on changes in the Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

This is where the heresy comes in.

If anyone looks back at the so-called “Little Ice Age” which lasted from the 16^th to the mid-19^th Centuries, causing tens of millions of deaths from crop failures and disease, they would realize that “global cooling” has the potential of being thousands of times more devastating than slow climate warming.

The question needs to be asked;

What if the increase in Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere is actually PREVENTING a global catastrophe by keeping temperatures from dropping precipitously, resulting in worldwide famine and disease from malnutrition that might kill billions of people?

Also, consider some of the potential BENEFITS of global warming;

1 – Warmer winters are healthier – Diseases caused by cold winters kill hundreds of thousands.

2 – Warmer winters are safer – Far fewer accidental deaths.

3 – Warmer winters may open up the Northwest Passage, creating a boon to shipping.

4 – Warmer winters & longer growing seasons will lead to a significant increase in food production.

Additionally, even if we finally agree that “Global Warming” is a bad thing, we should consider the least expensive ways of addressing the issue. Another inexpensive potential solution is “Iron Seeding” some of our oceans, wherein finely ground iron particles are distributed in parts of the oceans that are deficient in iron. An accounting of the IPCC shows that there are only 600 accredited Scientists participating in the process not 2500. Not only that but by reading each of the 600 Scientists individual opinions at the end of the report 60% do not support the catastrophic conclusions of the IPCC 2007 report. Prof Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia, is an important writer of the IPCC reports, and is currently on academic suspension pending investigation of possible public trust violations in his hacked and released email.

Should the allegations prove true, and I am suspicious they will prove true, because satellite data from europe, US, and meterological data seem to show cooling in the last 8 - 11 years depending upon the source. The only sources showing warming are NASA ground data, NOAA ground data, and the tree rings. NASA and NOAA have been shown to not to maintain the ground stations and instead rely on their own understanding of variations to get a corrected data set.

I think we should wait for these allegations to be disproven before gutting our economy.

Scientific facts according to who Doug?

I keep hearing about "man made climate change", "global warming", etc. etc. but I have yet to see one piece of REAL proof. They say the oceans are rising, but I have yet to see a single article that says exactly how much, where the measurements were taken, when they were taken, etc. etc.

I also have yet to hear a logical explanation of how we could go from the scientific community's "expert opinions" that we were going into "global cooling" 30 years ago, but now all of a sudden we're going into "global warming". I remember the theories going around that those of us living in the northern parts of the world were going to be in serious trouble and that temperatures were going to drop, that we were possibly looking at the next Ice Age, etc. etc.

And now, once again, we are expected to just "believe" the scientific talking heads, even though there is more than enough circumstantial evidence to be asking some serious questions about it. There is also more than enough evidence out there to show that some people are not above lying, falsifying evidence, etc. to "prove" that it is real, just to move forward their own agendas.

Sorry, but I will remain skeptical until I see something that even remotely resembles real scientific proof. So far, I haven't seen any.

Is human activity contributing to the speed at which the earth is warming? Probably. Significantly so? Probably not. The primary reason we should be concerned about "emissions" is due to the toxic substances aside from carbon dioxide that the emissions carry. Do we want cleaner air? Sure, who wouldn't? Considering most everywhere is banning smoking because people do not want to breathe toxic fumes you would think that the same majority would be pressing for more control over industrial toxins in the atmosphere and in our water. Instead they are fixated on CO2 and climate change, which is happening and is going to happen and we cant do a darn thing to change it. There is no scientist that will say man's contribution doesn't add to warming. The dispute is over how much. To understand step back and follow the money.

There are those that say it is Man's contribution will cause catastrophic warming. This research is backed by industry and politicians that stand to gain huge sums of money and political power if they can legislate to stop the catastrophe.

There are also those that say Man's contribution is insignificant. These are backed by industry that will profit if there is no change.

The truth is somewhere in between which is not catastrophic.

It's currently 28 degrees,18 degrees below our normal low for this time of year. Before the night is out we may very well be within 3 or 4 degrees of the record of 20 degrees. I'm having a hard time buying the whole global warming deal when I had to dodge black ice on the way home. I know there's a difference between climate and weather but still 20 degrees the first week of December may foretell a long cold winter. We have plenty of winters where 20 degrees would be the coldest night of the year and that would be in January or February. To have it this cold now means we could go for zero before all is said and done this year (which is as cold as it ever gets here). I'd say the climate here is just fine, way colder than I like for sure!!

I was listening to news and they were interviewing people from less industrialized countries. I heard complaints about too much or too little water. I heard people from the "western world" who were seeing places like South Asia for the first time, talking like this was the first time those people had experienced flooding __— ergo, this must be caused by Global Warming. Climate change has existed for millenia and we know that there are places on earth that have been desert and glacier at different times. Now THAT is climate change, and man had absolutely NOTHING to do with it. We can't control climate or even short-term weather now (and really never will).

When I was in school, we were taught that science did not depend on consensus or agreement. The facts stood on their own. The whole scientific method is designed to distill things down to irifutable, duplicatable research. The fact that they destroyed their data shows that they knew that the Global Warming scam could never stand up to real scientific scrutiny.

And even when they "cooked" the numbers, it still couldn't stand up on its own. Even the bogus data tells us that we are looking at a 1-2 degree increase over a 50 year period. What the hell! Is there really anybody here who honestly thinks 1-2 degrees will have a catastrophic impact on life? Yeah, it's called a benefit. No educated person could take this scam seriously. Both parties are the problem. There is no real difference between the two. Most of our politicians are owned by corporations, and we have a government for the corporations, by the corporations. The international corporations and banksters are not loyal to any one country. It is all about money and power to these internationalists, and they cannot complete their vision without destroying the United States of America. The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and our nation's Sovereignty have been undermined and chipped away at for a century. Obama is just the capstone agent set up to finish us off.

There were several purposes for the UN

1) Try to prevent wars - by having the nations meet and discuss problems before weapons are used.

2) Be a face other that the Super Powers to funnel aid in developing the underdeveloped countries thus aid in diffusing puppets to the richer more powerful countries.

What's happend is that the UN is fast becoming "the" superpower over all.
